Hi Phyl,
Welcome to the Snow Angels. Glad you stopped in. Looks like you have been doing very well losing!!!!

When ever I get to a standstill I do a couple of things ( I have been at a lot of plateaus) I increase my level of activity and make sure I eat a well balanced meal. Also write down everything I eat so at the end of the day if I have eaten something I shouldn't then I know what it is and then I can change it. Drink at least 48 oz of water each day!

So Phyl come on in and tell us about yourself. Do you mind sharing how old you are and what you like to do. If it makes you feel more at home I am 58 turning 59 in about 5 weeks.

Pull up a chair and tell us what we can do to help. You will be getting all the support and caring that you need. We have a great bunch of Angels here and we support each other through it all. If you need to talk anything out feel free to do so.

Welcome again!!!

Love and hugs,
lizzie

I am a 64 year old Senior Citizen. It's hard to realize I am there. 64 was a real eye opener.

Hi Cupcake,
Heck you are not a senior just now hitting middle age. My hubby is 63 will be 64 in a few weeks and he sure isn't a senior. He doesn't act like a senior. Hey what does a senior act like????:tomato: :tomato:

To be serious for a second, a Snow Angel is the Angel you make in the snow. In my case a mighty big snow angel. When we started a challenge a couple of years ago the challenge was from June to Dec. Somehow our name became Snow Angels just because we could make them in December at the end of our journey.

"We are just a small group of folks who support each other in our efforts to lose weight and get fitter and healthier. Our name comes from a challenge we started almost 2 years ago that was ending with the Christmas Holiday and Snow Angels seem appropriate. You know the kind you make in the snow?? We kept our name and just started a new challenge and now we just keep going.

You are welcome to join us and in fact we are always looking for new Angels. When I have a tough day this is where I want to be. The Angels here are very understanding and so very sweet and helpful. There are days when the Snow Angels help me make it through the day. Without them I don't know what I would do. I mean that from the bottom of my heart where all the warm feelings are. Hope you will take a minute and check us out!! We would love to have you join us."

Everyone is welcome to join at any time. At the first of each week we state our goals. We keep them simple and doable. We often challenge each other to do certain amount of exercises, drink water, just about anything to help us reach our goal.

We would love to have you join cupcake.

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Count me in ladies. I am 59 and will turn the big SIX ZERO this summer and I would have liked to have some of this weight off by then. July. Nice to talk to others my age. The younger ones have different perseptives on things. Gives u something to think about, but nice to chat with people from the 'dark ages' like me - when we only had black and white TV and no remote controls.

Cheers everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am going to 73 in May. Will celebrate our 50th anniversary in June. My DH and I have 3 grown children and 12 grandchildren. Each of them knows the Lord which delights our hearts. My DH is not well but keeps a uplighting spirit in helping me around the house and kitchen. You should taste the wonderful vegetable salads that he makes. We - both cook and clean up together. He is a diabetic, 2x cancer survivor . We eat very simply but enjoy eating. Sometimes we roam the aisle at the store looking for something new and exciting to eat that is low calorie but good. He is so good to me. I have a problem with my feet so walking great distance is hard for me. I do the best I can " to keep moving:. Some man in church stopped me this am to tell me I was looking great with my weight loss. Bless HIM.
Will try to keep in contact with this group daily. Thank YOU> all.

Thanks for all the feedback. I do like to talk with people my age because we're all coming from the same page. I have 4 kids and 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. I started to think about my health when my sister got brain cancer. She was only 58. When I reached 60 I started to realize I was getting older. The years from 45 to 60 zoomed by and all of a sudden I was 60. I have dieted all my life and yoyo'd back and forth. I have been on WW since Jan 12th and I am finding in it a way that I can get rid of that extra weight. I was at top weight when I retired and they changed my medicine. I later found out this was one of those that make you gain. Anyway, I'm starting to get a grip on it. I've lost 15.7 lbs since starting. Thanks for the warm welcome...

Saturdays and Sundays are so long for me. Find I want to nibble on everything. Have apples and celery but feel unsatisfied. Try to have water in every room so that I can drink it instead of eat. Anyone else have problems on these days.? During the week I seem to be busy puttering around the house.

Hi Phyl,
I find the point system works good for me. Has anyone out there heard of the Weight Commander? I love it. It helps you keep focused. He also has a Food Value program. Download it and see how it works. It's user friendly and many faceted. It works for any diet that you are on. It has carbs, protein, fat and just everything. Recipes for low calorie or points, a running tab on your weight loss or gain, words of wisdom, tip for the day etc. It's well worth $9.95 but you can try it for a week for free. Tells you which day is your weak day for dieting so you can see a pattern and be careful on that day. It's nice to have a web site like this too.

Hi Everyone,

Glad to see you making yourselves comfortable. After all isn't weight loss suppose to be fun? I sure think so!!

Yes I have checked out the Weight Commander but he,if I remember right, provides a conflict of interest with DT. According to the rules we are not suppose to advertise other sites that are in competition with DT. So I will check it out again.

Phyl,
Those days have been long for me when my grandson isn't around like this week end. So I stay out of the kitchen and try to do other things. I spend more time on the computer because I know I will not eat if I am typing. Plus once the weather gets real nice I am going to be outside working in my little garden and flowers. Until it gets too hot then I go out early morning and late in the afternoon.

Wow 50 years Anniversary. Congratulations!!!!!!!! MY DH and I just celebrated our 40th back in September. Never thought we would make it that far but hopeful we will get to 50th! Time sure flies doesn't it??

Cupcake,
Good loss of 16 lbs!! I know how hard those pounds are to get off. Me too I have been on ww off and on for years but decided this was the last time. Same with meds too. Everytime the doc chnages mine then I have to start all over again with my program to adjust to new meds. They usually cause me to gain!

Welcome Pengwyn come on in and have some fun losing!! You too Emi. We can all enjoy losing!!

Might want to check out the challenge thread and add some question if you have any.

Okay have a great night!!

Love and hugs,
lizzie
