Corinna 03-14-04, 12:38 AM Hello!
Yes, I am taking the plunge in a journal.
Until I found out Jessica had a journal here, I hadn't ever read the forum, I don't think.
I am currently reading Dr. Phil's book and I exercise like a nut just because it's fun! :) I currently have 66 lbs to lose. At the beginning of the year, I had 75.. so it's all good!
It's spring break here.. a week with all of my kids. Lord help me! Luckily, we'll be at the gym a lot. Yay!
What are my goals? I will have to think about that.
1. To get to 49 lbs from goal
2. Complete a sprint tri training program, starting when it gets warmer
3. be able to hold a plank for 1 minute
4. be able to do 10 pushups
5. do burpies without passing out
Do I have a time limit for these goals? Hrm.. no. I should make daily goals that will help me go towards my main goals. Yes, that is what I will do.
My food for today:
b: shreddies with ff milk
l: jambalaya and some ribs
d: 6" subway chicken breast sub with oodles of veggies, 500 mls ff milk
s: banana, 12 oz (yes, the whole little bag!!!) baby(cut) carrots
Not too shabby! I like to eat a lot, so you will notice the volume.. *urp*
I am trying to cut down on refined carbs, because they are evil.
That's for my day 1 of this journal. I didn't go to the gym today, but will tomorrow.
Corinna
Cori :) :)
so happy to see you journalling here. i have missed not having a place to catch up with you!
I like your goals my friend..i am so with you on the plank thing..thats a goal of mine too lol...planks are everywhere in my body balance class and i dont seem to be getting any darn better at the darn things...
Have a great rest of your weekend!
hugs bell :)
monicapink 03-14-04, 01:40 AM Hi Corinna,
I was thrilled to see you have decided to start your Journal ....
I am looking forward to hearing about all of your successes. Make it a great weekend. Always, Monica
JoThrive 03-14-04, 09:13 AM Hi, Corinna. Your nice new journal and the goals stated therein are very impressive. Good luck to you.
I also totally agree that refined carbs are evil.
Life is good, enjoy.
Hi Corinna! Your goals look perfectly reasonable and doable - but...what are burpies?
Glad to see you in the journals!
Cori,
Eat the carrots if they fill you up and keep you from eating other, less healthy things. =)
Corinna 03-14-04, 10:20 AM ER - it was a small bag of carrots.. that equals 1 1/2 cups of baby (cut) carrots. But thank you for your concern.. I work an 11 hour shift and my food enabler was there.. I think all things considering, the carrots were a GREAT choice! :) I can already do burpies, but only about 10 of them because my lungs explode.. I want to get better...
I can also do 7 or 8 real pushups, so not sure why I listed 10 when I meant 20.. oh well..
Bell: I hear you! I'm actually quite a bit better at planks.. I can hold them for 30 seconds no problem.. But they are hard to work on. I also need to work on wall sits. I am fit, but given my girth, it stands to reason that I have much to improve on.
MO - thank you! :x
JT- thansk for stopping by.. And they are evil! I think my goals are doable, too.
Dea- I defined burpies for you above.. my personal way of describing them is to drop down to a pushup pose then jump back up again over and over..
Off to the gym!
Corinna
and article online's explanation of a burpie:
Burpies – standing with feet shoulder width apart, squat down touching your hands to the floor. Then in one explosive movement, drive your leg out and back, leaving your body left in a bridge position. From the bridge, pull your feet back into a crouch position and stand back up to a full standing position. This exercise can be repeated for 15 to 25 repetitions
Corinna 03-14-04, 10:22 AM hehehe - apparently I had described burpies below my reply to dea, not above. :o
OH!! I know what those are. An excellent exercise, but I can't for the life of me think of another name for them. Good for you!
Bonjour Corinna Nice to see you here journaling. But don't forget us in chat. we like to see you there also. And I agree with you carrots is a great choice. Much better than the darn cookies i've been eating. Peanut butter home made left over from christmas there gone. finished them off last night. Good luck.
Corinna,
Whoohoo, we've got you in the journals, EXCELLENT!!!!
Hehe, just glad to have you here. You are such an asset to DT. Thanks for being here.
You are going to do great.
Hi Cori,
Glad you started a journal. I think you are doing great this year. You will meet your goals.
Hope the girls are well.
Carol
sandielynne 03-14-04, 01:10 PM Woo hoo Corinna,
I almost didn't believe my eyes when I saw, just now, that you had actually posted a Journal. Whoopee, now I can come and "visit" and say hello whenever I wish to.......hahaha
Of course, I'll be waiting to see how many #$@&*@#% I find in your Journal as time passes. That's what happens, you know, when we write "naughty" words. I think it's hilarious. And most of us have learned how to work around it anyway.......haha But don't tell John that, ok?
I really want to welcome you to the Journals. I'm so glad you have decided to join us.
Hugs,
Sandie
jessica 03-14-04, 01:15 PM :D welcome to the seamier side of dt, the steamy underworld that is Journals....;)
Burpies--we used to call them squat thrusts.
Jess,
Yeah, we called them squat thrusts, too. Maybe that's a Washington thing, though. =)
Yes, squat thrusts! That's the name I was thinking of!! :)
sandielynne 03-14-04, 01:35 PM Regardless of what they are called, I can't do them. And I give a whopping lot of credit to anyone that can. My goodness, I can just see me now trying to pull that off. Oommph!!
There would go my knees for certain, and at twice as fast too.
:D
Corinna 03-14-04, 03:10 PM Squat thrusts sound so... well... like they belong in an adult feature! Heheheh..
Dea - yeah, they rock, but they pop lungs!
boblin - Je n'oublirais jamais chat!! C'etait la raison originale pour mes visites içi! ;) Merci de me visiter, je puex practiquer mon français écrite..
Je peux le practiquer avec Aria et Joanne aussi.
ER- Don't apologize, no harm, no foul.
Crazy - ok, you just scared me.. Like I've just been invited into the den of the body snatchers or something.. And you are the Mr. Smithers of the scheme.. Yeah, yeah.. I have an active imagination with no practical use in life. It's my sad reality. ;)
Carol - Thanks! The girls are well and I think I will have a great year, too! :)
Sandie - you made me burst out laughing and I got looks and comments about it.. (I'm at work..) :o ME?! CUSS!?!?! You have me mistaken for.. well.. ok. you have me pegged right. :D
Jessica and Timmi- Howdy!
Corinna
Lizzie B 03-14-04, 08:34 PM Well my eyes must be fooling me. Nope looked again and you are still here!! About time cor!!
Welcome to the jungle I mean journals!! Well now this is nice. We can all come and visit everyday and not have to wait till you show up in chat!!
I am so glad to see you here!!!!!!!!!! Wooooo Hoooooooo.
Squat thrusts omg I can see that now once and that is all for me. No I am not being truthful just the thought of one give me lots of pain!! You do those gf and you can do anything!!
Kidding aside I am happy to see you finally in here. Be nice to stop and say hello now and then!!
LOve and hugs,
Lizzie
Corinna 03-14-04, 09:35 PM Good Sunday evening everyone!
Dang, I'm bored. I could post and post or chat and chat, but no one is in chat. DANG YOU ALL! Hehehehe..
Ok day foodwise, is my day off.. I had:
b:Cheerios Triple Berry.. quite a tasty cereal.. Num, num, num.. with milk..
l: carrots, banana, yogurt
s: banana, more carrots (baby cut of course)
d: 1 shawarma sandwich
Mmmmmmm mmmm mmmmmmmmm.. I have more carrots to eat.
My tummy is upset though. That sucks. :(
I had a wee workout today.. nothing exciting. Tomorrow begins spring break! Yippy! NOT! Hehehe.. I have to drag my kids around to the gym and try to be on time? OY!
We'll see what the week brings.
I have 3 hours and 20 minutes left here!! ACK!!
Corinna
Corinna 03-14-04, 09:36 PM Lizzie - thanks for the welcome and I do truly think I can do anything most of the time! Except, maybe lose the weight. :c( Hehehehe
Corinna
Corinna 03-14-04, 10:06 PM Ok.. I gotta say this.. I am FREAKED out. Ok.. some of you know that I am a geek from waaaaaaaay back.. My first modem was 300 bps (if you have dial up, I bet yours is 56000bps).. back in the day, before the internet was widespread, people called computers one at a time and there would be message boards, like this.. only MUCH more simplistic (anyone remember what ASCII is? I bet John does).. anyway, that was my teen years... I didn't watch tv, I surfed the BBSes of Montreal.. Now, a billion years later.. Someone has gone and opened a site for all the BBSers of Montreal.. And it's so freaking eerie! If you open the site, they will come..
It has been open for almost 2 weeks now and already there are like 100 of us there! It's just very, very eerie.. I'll be sure to let you all know if any pictures of me lying drunk on a barroom floor show up (I am sure there are some).. OY!
Sorry.. Just freaking.
Corinna
sandielynne 03-14-04, 10:17 PM Oh Corinna,
Why didn't you say you wanted to chat, and I would have joined you silly.
Gosh it's good to have your humor in our Journal forum.
You do tickle my fancy lady! Geek or not.......LOL
Sandie
Corinna 03-15-04, 11:41 AM Monday, Monday.. da da da da da daaaaaaaa
I'll stop before everyone's ears start to bleed..
I am SO tired! Stupid DTM didn't let the stupid dog out this morning, so I was up at 7. I only got home from work around 12:45.. asleep 2ish.. BLECH! I'll be putting on a movie for the girls when the baby naps and catch a few Zzzzs on the couch while they watch their movie this afternoon..
Otherwise, what do I have planned? I have to vacuum, wash the floors, fold laundry, scoop poop (dogs') and go to the gym. I should make a lentil stew thing just cuz. I'll look to see how the ingredients are doing. Actually, I have portabello mushrooms that I bought that should be used, so I think I'll make a chicken/portabello/wild rice crockpot thing. :) It's uber low in fat.. Yummy.. GI friendly for those who care.
This afternoon, I have my dance class.. then I'm going to do a step class right after. Yay me!
I *need* coffee.
Sandie - I'm glad you appreciate my sense of humour.. I'll let you know the next time I am actually trying to be funny!! (See? They're all laughing at me).. hehehe..
I'm still freaked out over the site that opened up. I was chatting with two ex-boyfriends last night (a slutty geek am I!).. it's all strange.
Goals for today:
1. eat 3 veggies, 5 fruits
2. Drink 2 litres of water on top of the water I drink working out
That's it! :)
Corinna
Hi Cori,
It sounds like you are working at night. I didn't know you had gone back to work. Please get enough rest. When I get over tired I head for food. I did that this week-end. I am trying to get all the sugar out of my system today.
Carol
Corinna 03-15-04, 12:14 PM Hehehe.. See, when I say I don't work.. I never mean I never go to work.. I sit on my ass and get bored to the very essence of my being 28 hours per week! I'm a part time supervisor in a call centre.
it's all very sad. It pays crap, iss boring as heck and I work 2 x 11 hour shifts (the 6 hour shift ain't so bad).. *sigh*
I'm TIRED!
Corinna
sandielynne 03-15-04, 12:22 PM Good morning Corinna,
At this point in my life I could NOT do what you are doing. But back when my kids were younger, I worked the 11pm to 7 am shift for 7 years. It was the only way I could manage to work and not have to pay a babysitter, since I couldn't begin to afford that anyway. Not with 3 kids to support. But since they were all sound asleep before I left, and the oldest was very responsible and sensible, besides being 13 yrs old, I felt confident enough to do what had to be done. So I know how exhausting it can get. When they were in school, it wasn't too bad. But during the summer months, there were many a day I got far too little sleep.
Good luck getting that snooze in later in the day. I can sympathize with your plight, but I don't dare get too serious here or you will shoo me right out of your journal foever.......lol
Take care dear lady. Love seeing you in chat this morning too.
Hugs,
Sandie
Your sure into the exercise Corrina. Do the girls do some with you when they have to tag along. I'm glad your doing the journal and doubly glad you didn't forget us in chat. keep up the good work you'll get there.
Corinna 03-15-04, 02:10 PM Hidee ho!!!
What is the Christmas poo's name? I forgot..
Sandie - get serious.. No worries.. I *can* be serious.. It's true! Just not for long. :D I luckily don't work overnight. I just couldn't do it! midnight is late enough. I wish it were til 11, but now that I'm the night time boss, I gotta stick it out to the bitter end. Blech, Blech, blech.
Boblin - the girls go to daycare.. They have a basketball net in there.. They do go swimming and this week, we'll be skating and swimming and other fun things, since it's march break. I would never forget chat!!
I should host a chat on the nights/days that I work. Hehehe.. :)
Corinna
Corinna 03-15-04, 03:05 PM thank you!
You had to know that I would know the answer to that one. =)
I hope you had a great time at the gym today! Just remember how wonderful you feel when you're on top with your eating. =)
sandielynne 03-15-04, 07:35 PM My goodness Corinna,
I think I should nominate you for one of our most popular Journalists. Four pages in little more than 24 hours of posting!! Wow, that says something, don't you think?
What, I don't know yet, but I'm working on it.......lol
Did you have a good day? I did. I got lots of fresh air and sunshine before the snow buries me tomorrow. I did it cleaning up a winter's worth of doggy doo from the yard outside........haha Sound like fun?
Hugs,
Sandie
Corinna 03-15-04, 10:43 PM I only did one class today. Booo me!
I think my heart is being ripped out and chewed on and spat into a fire. My dog can't get up. She's almost 12 and she can't stand up. She bit my husband because she's in too much pain. She'll be taken in tomorrow to the vet. I can't believe it! She's been with me since I was 20. I got her *just* over 11 years ago. My poor baby! :c(
I ate fine, blah blah blah.
I am really ****ing sad.. I can't believe she'll be gone in 12 hours..
Corinna
Beemer (http://ca.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/on_the_sp0t/detail?.dir=/Yahoo!+Photo+Album-Dan&.dnm=beemer2.jpg) <----Picture of Beemer, click here
Oh Corinna,
So sorry about your dog, it is always so sad. I am sure she had a wonderful life with you all.
sorry about your dog Cori..thinking of you!
hugs bell :)
poor poor Corinna (((((((((((une grosse caresse)))))))) pour toi seulement. It's so very hard to loose an animal that has been with you so very long. Being an animal lover i know where your coming from. cry for a week when i lose one of mine I had the one wee fellow lived for 15 years. I have one now who's 12 and the book says life expansion for bassets is 9 years and i can see him slow down sometimes I cry to see him get up he's getting stiff but fine after he gets going. Ok Ok enough about my dogs. So so sorry to hear that your going to be losing yours. I don't know if I was smart or not I got another before I lose him. I won't be totally alone. see you at chat. And don't shed to many tears you don't want to watch beemer suffer and i went and seen the picture a very nice creature indeed.
JoThrive 03-16-04, 08:29 AM Sorry about your doggie. Pets become such an important part of our lives. But we hate to see them suffer. :c(
Corinna 03-16-04, 12:00 PM Thanks everyone.. Beemer is now at rest. It was really sad. Tomorrow will be a better day. I just have to get though today.
Corinna
Cori, I am so sorry. I had a poodle that lived to be 16 and I morned for him for 2 years. He was like one of the kids. Actually, David bought him for me when the two oldest left home within 6 months of each other. We had him put down because we didn't want him to suffer.
Hugs, Carol
Corinna 03-16-04, 01:11 PM So.. I drank my water yesterday and I exercised.. today is going pretty well, too.. I just have to convince myself that it isn't worth to busy my sorrows in a 2 litres thing of icecream...
I will go to the gym tonight and I will stay on plan!
Corinna
monicapink 03-16-04, 01:27 PM Just stopped by ....
Glad things are going well so far today .... DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DELVE INTO THAT ICE CREAM .... ..
Good for you for going to the gym tonight and getting in your :ex: ... start saving for that something special JUST FOR YOU ... you're going to be needing some rewards . Take care my friend. As always, Monica
If you absolutely must have ice cream, go to Baskin Robbins and get a single scoop and eat it with one of their sample spoons. Takes a long time and you still get the treat, just in a more managable portion size. =)
Though, you're off sweets for Lent, so... no. =) Treat yourself gently and if you need a 'comfort' food, make the best choice you can. A nice, hearty soup or something. =)
Corinna 03-16-04, 04:48 PM Where is the fun in anythng less than 2 litres?
I'm sure I'll be ok. I took a nap.. now I'm just over tired. But i will go to the gym tonight..
Ok.. what is with the SNOW and COLD WIND?!?! You'd think this was winter in CANADA or something. JERKS! It was +14 the day Beemer fell down the stairs. ARGH!
Corinna
jessica 03-16-04, 08:34 PM so sorry about puppy. How hard. How sad.
Corinna 03-17-04, 03:34 PM Well, did I buy a thing of icecream to eat? Yes I did.. Did I develop the same stomach flu that Hope had all last night? Yes, I did! :-& So not only did those calories not count, It'll be a long, long, loooooooooong time before I can think of icecream and not.. :-&
DTM *had* to go to work.. but came home at lunch. I had my kids watch Emily upstairs in their toyroom so I could listen and help if someone sprung a leak in an artery or something.. Dan came home, cleaned up most of the stuff Hope did that was also keeping me in bed because the thought.. well.. :-& So it's all good now..
I'm still a little weak, but will drag my butt to the gym to do a basic no bounce (bnb) class. I'm pretty sure I can do that. :) (yes, I'm taking it easy! Honest!)
I think Hope has Phyllis Diller's hair.. Poor thing. :(
Corinna
I hate it when I get sick like that. At least you won't be wanting icecream for a while. These last years icecream upsets my stomach so I don't even want it.
Glad DTM helped out. It is nice that Katy and Hope are old enough to help with Emily.
Take care.
Carol
Corinna 03-17-04, 05:43 PM Yeah, they help out, but I'm sure children's welfare would have thought otherwise.. Hehehehe.. It was easier with Hope not feeling well.. She's the wild child..
Dan's coming home early, so it's all good.
I am not going to the gym, though. Not feeling well enough.
Corinna
monicapink 03-17-04, 05:57 PM Stopped by to see what everyone else is doing today .... I am tired of laying in bed ....
Sorry you are not feeling up to par .... you take care of yourself ... well my dh (Les) is getting upset with me ... lol I am [-X being a good girl .... lol so what else is new ...
Okay back to bed I go ... Take care and feel better soon. As always, Monica
Good for you for not pushing your body. Your body needs to rest so it can heal, even if you feel better. =)
Corinna 03-17-04, 06:18 PM Ha! I want to go to the gym now.. but DTM is coming home, so I can't.. else he'd get mad. Oh well.. Will make up for it tonight..
I should go buy a carpet cleaner.. I've been eyeing a spot cleaner and I should go get it.. The carpet in the girls' room needs it BADLY!!!
I've been slowly reading Dr Phil's book and a few things have struck me as key things..
1) I use the "tonight is a trigger night and I know I will overeat" as a rule and not something that I should challenge in my head. I *know* every Thursday night is like that, but so is every second weekend. See, there's a woman I work with who loves to eat as much as I do.. I *have* to stop it!!! I would like suggestions.. I have brought lunch and then left it there to rot and ordered anyway. I am thinking of making Sunday my "day off" (meal off?) but still staying away from sugar. Sugar is evil for me, my friends.. It is! I have to challenge my thought process and prove it a lie.. It's "as simple as that". Oy!
I did all the audits.. Everything came back optimal, except the sugar audit.. Can you tell what does me in?!
One thing I dislike about the book is the assumption that if you are fat, you are not exercising.. That makes me mad.. But maybe I'm part of the exception to that rule? I dunno, it does irk me, though..
There were other things, which I will share, as they come up.
I miss my doggy.
Tonight, for dinner, I will have chicken soup and *maybe* a banana..
Corinna
sandielynne 03-17-04, 09:28 PM My goodness Corinna,
You life is like a roller coaster ride set at super fast speed. I don't know where you get the energy to make it through 1 day let alone a week.
I'm really sorry about the loss of your pupper Beemer. Euthanasia is always better than suffering. To be honest, I wish it were allowable for myself when I am too far gone also.
Glad you are feeling better. Hope tomorrow is a better day for many of us. I never really woke up today. I am almost afraid to find what tomorrow brings. I ended up taking 3 naps today. Tomorrow I may never get out of bed if that keeps on. I certainly hope not.
Hope to see you in chat tonight. Take care now friend
Hugs,
Sandie
Corinna 03-18-04, 01:26 PM Ok, so I guess I get no suggestions.. Hehehe..
I went to the gym this morning.. Only did 1 of 2 classes and barely did the one class. I was ready for a nap at the end.. DTM is home today and will take the girls skating while Emily and I nap. yay! :x
I have to figure out how to stay OP tonight... I'm TIRED and my anabler will be there.. Oy!
Corinna
My suggestion? Bring dinner for the both of you. Healthy stuff so you have no excuse (either of you) to order in.
Then, maybe you guys could work on eating high quality, healthy meals while alternating who brings what.
Of course, that's assuming that your enabler is willing to change...
Aren't you glad that I don't enable you to eat poorly when we go out? =)
Corinna 03-18-04, 01:42 PM Thanks Timmi.. Enabler is very much against change, since she doesn't see anything wrong with her diet (even though she's 300+ lbs and diabetic).. I'm feeling like crap and I'll just work on that.. Clear soup, carrots and some chicken for dinner.. and water.. It'll all be good. :) Thanks for the advice.. She doesn't work this weekend and today I feel like crap, so it's next week that I have to worry about.
Corinna
Corinna 03-18-04, 04:32 PM Sandie..
Does my life seem to be speeding like a roller coaster? I guess I am busy.. You all can explain it to my husband why my house is a mess! Not enough time! :D
I want a new leonberger.. But they're $2K each.. And my husband is all blah blah blah, we need food and shelter, blah blah blah.. Meanie!
Corinna
Corinna 03-18-04, 08:37 PM Does anyone here eat oatmeal that you actually have to cook (as opposed to adding water to it?) What do you add that is calorie free but makes it tasty?!
I just got my The Easy Zone Mealplan from the gym I go to (well, one of two gyms).. and I am going to try their diet plan for a week.. I'm not sure if I will get enough carbs, but we'll see.. I'm thinking of taking their "protein powder" suggestion and eat cottage cheese in its place!
Anyhoo, will write the meal plan as I go..
Corinna
JoThrive 03-18-04, 09:02 PM Hi, Corinna, you asked about oatmeal -
I eat oatmeal that I cook in the microwave. I use 1/4 cup regular oatmeal, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 apple chopped up, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Zap it for 1 min., 40 sec., add some skim milk and a sprinkle of sugar or Splenda, and I consider it quite yummy. This has more fiber than the instant oatmeal. And it doesn't take very long to make.
Health food stores sell something called 'oat groats', which I have tried but didn't like. However it is closer to the basic oats, more natural I guess you would call it.
Anyway, oatmeal is good for you in so many ways. IMHO
monicapink 03-18-04, 09:10 PM Corinna ....
I usually eat oatmeal in the winter months (November, December and January) ...
There is nothing that is CALORIE FREE ..... but I have put Raisins and Cinnamon ....
Or I have put a tablespoon of Sugar Free Maple Syrup (Cary's or Log Cabin Sugar Free Syrups) ....
Or I have put dried cranberries .....
but now instead of making oatmeal the old fashioned way .... I do like the instant oatmeal ... and I (unlike Les) don't put a lot of hot water in my oatmeal .... I like it moist but not swimming ... lol
I hope I have helped somewhat. As always, Monica
Corinna 03-18-04, 10:27 PM Hrm.. Maybe sugarfree syrop! Thank you both for your suggestions.. I need to figure something out. They suggest adding protein powder to it.. and well.. That just sounds nasty! Blech.
I think I'll try the 1/4 apple, too.. That sounds tasty! (not both at the same time)..
Thanks again for the input!
Corinna
sandielynne 03-18-04, 10:38 PM Hi Corinna,
I eat oatmeal, but I use the Irish Oatmeal, which is chopped oats, less processed than regular oatmeal. It takes a while to cook, but it's still worth it because of all the fiber you get this way.
I have put Splenda and a tsp. of vanilla in mine, or you can add sugar free fruit preserves, such as Polaner makes. They are not calorie free, but it is very low in calories if you don't pour in half a jar.
Anyway, I'm sorry you are still feeling so crappy. I slept in my chaise recliner last night, so as to avoid dh's snoring, and I have been wide awake all day. Maybe that is the solution??
Take care now.
Hugs,
Sandie
jessica 03-18-04, 11:36 PM re fat=not exercising...I see people regularly at the Y, bustin' it, sweatin' it, still big. Heck, I *am* one of those people. Re enabler at work: go healthiest option. Re spot cleaner? No advice there, I go through Spot Shot by the case. Re rest? Good for you, Cori. Re oatmeal? Jo knows her stuff.
:) Bye now!
Cori- there are plenty of thin people around that i like to think of as skinny fat..they have never exercised a day in their life...i dont have a supermodels body my friend but i know i can last through a high intensity class...i had a friend complain to me the other day about walking a very short distance..."thats too far, i am too tired..." i would rather be heavier and fitter than skin and bone and unfit... 100% true for me.
hugs bell :)
Hello Corinna! Thanks for stopping by my journal. I decided to resist the temptation to answer your question there just to get you to visit again :lil: and instead answer here where you're more likely to see it. :)
TaeBo Flex is pretty cool. I'm assuming it's "normal" TaeBo but with an added "flex" pose at the end of each set. So we do roundhouse kicks for 8 counts and then he yells FLEX and we hold it for another 8 counts. Much harder than it sounds because you're supposed to really lock down your muscles in the given pose. And then these flex sets are alternated with cardio sets where we do everything alot faster. I'm still pretty spastic with the tape and so basically leap around my living room like a maniac and fall over every time they holler flex, but hey, I'm learning!
On the oatmeal front, my saving grace has been maple flavoring. Absolutely calorie free. You find it in the same section of the store as vanilla. I add about 1/4 t to about 1/2 c of oatmeal after it cooks. I also add 1 packet of Equal, again after cooking. I typically despise oatmeal without butter and milk and sugar (kiddie comfort food) so finding the maple flavoring was a wonder!
Finally I want to offer my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Beemer. We lost our 5 year old guinea pigger to old age 11 months ago and I still miss him. He was our only "pet" and to us he was our baby. I'm glad your doggie got to have such a lovely family to enjoy during her life. She was a beautiful girl. :spring:
Cori, I am still working on getting my e-mail back up to speed. I have had several problems and just posted in Jessica's journal recounting my situation. I got an e-mail from Yahoo saying that I needed to re-open my account (what account) and to do that I needed to send their message back to them as a reply. I haven't a clue as to what when wrong. I really thought I might have a virus but got new McAfee and that really messed up the computer. It kept crashing it. I sure hope next week is better than last.
On a brighter note, David and I went out to breakfast this morning to a small local Mexican cafe. We sat down and much to our delight and amusement we were sitting next to three French Canadian couples. They were certainly involved in a very antimated conversation in french. David said I needed to tell you that we had some of your friends down here. lol
Thanks for the advise on Yahoo. I have saved the last couple of bounced messages and hope with what they sent me etc. that I can get back up and running. I tried to e-mail you from my hotmail account and at one time it would not send. I tried the dt account and then your hotmail account. Anyway, thanks for trying to help.
I never thought of a guinea pig and being like a child. I think I need think about that. I have friend that tells me that they have 4, one for each member of the family. They sit and cuddle them while they watch TV. I guess I have been missing some things Badger.
Need to get back to working in the yard.
Carol
Corinna 03-20-04, 07:30 PM Carol - dude! It's usually a bad sign if you can't load McAfee! Was it yahoo saying something or yahoogroups? Yahoogroups would be ok, but I did get 3 viruses from them this week (today).. Just be careful!
Heh - Ah.. those wacky French Canadians..
I'll log in my journal a bit later.
Corinna
Corinna 03-20-04, 09:12 PM Ok, where were we? Did I mention that I am trying The Zone that the gym gave me? (The Zone Diet) It's an odd diet, folks! I bought Scottish Oatmeal (couldn't find Irish) and it tastes much better than the quick oats.. all things being relative.. So.. here is what I ate today and yesterday.. Neither of which being 100% OP, but hey! I'm just a wild and waky gal!
Friday
b: 1/2 oatmeal with fake sugar 1/4 cup apple and cinnamon (only ate 1/2 cup, then turned green and threw it out)..
1 cup milk
1 oz cheese
l: 1 McD's fajita
garden salad with light ranch dressing - about 1/2 tsp of dressing, if that.
s: yogurt, 1/2 banana
d: 4 oz chicken on pita with 1 tsp tzatziki sauce and slice cucumbers
s: icecream <-- whoops! 1 cup.. not too shabby
Saturday
b: 3/4 cup scottish oatmeal with fake sugar and some milk in it
1 cup milk
18 peanuts <--- whacky diet!!
s: 3/4 cup yogurt and 8 pistachio nuts
l: 3 1/2 oz chicken on pita with hummus (mmmm.. hummus)
d: 3 oz roast beef, 1 cup brocolli, 1 cup cauliflower and 1/2 english muffin
I still have some cheese and peanuts (18 left!) and some strawberried to have later tonight..
I have a whole bunch of reading to do with this binder. Me being me, I jumped to the back of the book and started the diet.. Modifying it to suit the food I have. Wheeeeeeeeee! I dunno. I guess I can't complain when I gain weight, right? hehehe
Yesterday, I went to the gym and did a Maria class. It ROCKED! it's called a strength training class, but she always does interval... I was very happy that I felt much, much better. No comments about looking like death..
I cleaned up some.. tried to kill the dog we still have since he has very recently taken up the habit of chewing Emily's bottles.. ARGH! Those things aren't cheap! I did laundry, folded and then we went swimming. Emily is a NUT! She *loves* to be under water like her sisters.. Ahhhhhhh.. I will have to foster that love and keep a very careful eye on her.. The only thing worse than a child who is afraid of the water is a child who has no fear of water... Oy!
Jessica - what is spot shot?
Bell - I know what you mean about skinny fat. You see that all the time. I guess _anyone_ exercising on a regular basis is out of the norm? I dunno..
Oh! So I'm at the gym yesterday.. So much nudity!! Anyway, there's this woman who is a fair bit larger than I am and she's just had a kid and she doesn't have any stretch marks!!! How is that fair? I mean CRAP! I have these ugly, tapeworm widthed things on my stomach that go almost all the way up to my breasts.. I hate that. I have very unforgiving skin. It's just awful. :c( Is there a smilie of someone slittling their wrists?
I'm bummed.. There is nothing I can do for my belly. I guess I could learn to accept it, but that seems like quite the tall challenge!
I have a class tomorrow at 10. I went for an hour long walk tonight.. That was nice. I feel all in control. yay me!
OH! Be proud of me!! I THREW away the icecream this morning so that I don't have to eat anymore! Yay me!
Corinna
Corinna 03-20-04, 09:37 PM Oh oh oh! (who's that kid with the oreo cookie?)
I was in McD's yesterday, buying the above mentioned fajita when the lady at the counter told me that (at least in Canada) they have not actually gotten rid of the SuperSize _size_, just the term.. So they still have the HUGE size, they just call it large now. How evil is that?!
I think the head of McDonald's is Mr. Burns. And he's saying.. "excellent".. It is just so wrong!
That just burns me.
Corinna
Corinna 03-20-04, 09:39 PM Badger - thank you for the visit.. Feel free to reply to me in your journal, as I will be visiting it often. :x Thanks for the sympathy. I really miss her. *sniff*..
I couldn't find the seasoning. I wonder if it's fenugreek? It's a supplement women take to increase milk supply that makes your pee and sweat smell like maple syrop (and it's used to flavour table syop).. TMI? I dunno..
Corinna
jessica 03-20-04, 09:44 PM so muich info...where to respond...
crap, freak child being freaky AND timer on food is beeping.
So it'll be a quick and happy, HI CORI!
Corinna 03-20-04, 11:00 PM I have a stupid question.. :o Does Olive oil go bad? I've had an unopened bottle for 10 years..
Same question for balsamic vinegar.. I just don't use the stuff, but think I will be now!
Corinna
sandielynne 03-20-04, 11:06 PM Hello Corinna,
I honestly don't know for a certainty whether olive oil or Balsamic vinegar go bad after 10 years, but I wouldn't want to take the chance either. I'd give them a toss and buy some new fresh stuff. Then you KNOW it's safe.
Sandie
Hi Corinna - Thanks for visiting my journal. You threw the ice cream away....Good for you! I've thrown so many things away in my various diet attempts and often much too late! I should be throwing them away the night before...in fact, I shouldn't be getting them at all. Here's a sample of a supermarket conversation I might have with myself: "Hmmmm, better get some ice cream. Hubby loves a little something sweet after dinner."
"Well, get something that YOU don't like then....but definitely not ice cream!"
"No, no - I'll be OK. I can withstand the temptation. I'll be fine."
"You'll be sorry."
And on and on like that. Then later - in the car - wresting the top off the ice cream....."OK....just a little taste. That can't hurt."
Then I get home and I am spotted with ice cream on my NOSE!
Whew - I can really exhaust myself with these conversations!
Anyway - keep up the good work.
Delph
Yes, olive oil does go rancid. Don't know for sure about the balsamic vinegar, I'll look it up for you. =)
OK, the vinegar won't go _bad_, per se, but it can develop sediment and lose flavour.
Do I rock or what? ;)
http://www.oliveoilgourmet.com/faq_info.html
I couldn't find the seasoning. I wonder if it's fenugreek?
Hmmm...never heard of fenugreek myself. The flavoring I use in oatmeal (and I particularly like Irish oats - very chewy and not so dusty like instant stuff here, but you have to cook them a while) is a liquid. Here, I'll go get the bottle and tell ya specifically what I've got.
OK. Got it in front of me.
It's McCormick "Imitation Maple Flavor". Comes in a little bottle just like vanilla. Don't know if they have McCormick up there? But it's in the same section of the grocery shelf as liquid vanilla. There are also a slew of other flavorings like this. I use Orange Extract, for example, in cranberry orange biscotti (back when I used to bake) And Lemon Extract in lemon chicken. There's also imitation rum flavor (my mom uses that in her "fake-rum" cake at xmas since we're a family filled with alcoholics) and bunches of others. All in these little bottles. They are not required to put a calorie count on the bottle here, so thus, because of our laws, the product must contain neglible (hardly any) calories per serving.
In other words - life saver for dieters eating otherwise bland oatmeal! :D
As for olive oil, boy howdy, does it go bad! I wouldn't use the old stuff either. BUT, balsamic vinegar, if never opened would most likely be even better now than when purchased. They age balsamic for upwards of 50 years in Italy and make this syrupy lovely stuff that they put on strawberries (and other things). Terrific. So I would at least open the vinegar and give it a sniff and a peak, and then a taste. Good luck!
Corinna 03-21-04, 03:49 PM Ok.. OO is gonzo, then.. Thanks everyone!
Yeah, we have McCormick up here. They begged me to work for them.. They just didn't know that you shouldn't tell a (what was I then? 25?) 25 year old that the person who is leaving the job was there for 18 years. Freaky!
Corinna
Cori, I buy the Red Mill 6 Grain Oatmeal. It is very high in fiber. I put 1/2 cup in a micro wave safe bowl with 3/4 cup water and zap for 4 1/2 minutes. I love it. I can put an assortment of dried things in it like cranberries, apricots, apples, raisins, almonds, etc. I like this so much better than the instant type. I sent someone, I think Bird Songs, a recipe for crock pot Irish Oatmeal. It makes quite a bit but you could make it and put left overs in the fridge for another day.
I am going to try the maple flavoring. I used to make my own syrup using a maple flavor called Maplene.
I was able to Load the McAfee but it then either blocked or crashed some of my programs at the office. I was having so much trouble that I un-installed it. It was a program for security, spam, virus, etc. I now am going to get my virus program back on. I could get to Explorer but when I hit the hotmail button my computer would shut down. Anyway, I hope I am back to where I was a week ago. That would be good.
Carol
After I posted the above about the Red Mill I checked the label and it is called Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled HotCereal. It is mostly oatmeal. It has 5 grams of fiber.
Really good
Carol
Corinna 03-21-04, 05:23 PM Good Sunday to you!
Ahhhhhhhh.. what is Cori eating today? Does anyone care? Do I care if no one else does? Heck no!
Well, maybe a little.. But I will pretend all y'all do.
Le Menu pour Dimanche:
b: 1 cup yogurt, 1 oz cheese, 1/8 canteloupe
l: 2 oz chicken breast, pita, 1 tsp tzatziki sauce, 1 cup cukes
s: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 cup strawberries (yum!) and 7 pistachios.. I was SUPPOSED to eat 8, but the 8th isn't cracked.. OH NO!
d: 3 oz chicken breast, 1 whole wheat english muffin, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, 1 oz moz cheese to make chicken parm
s: 2 oz moz cheese, 1/2 engish muffin
That's it for me today. I have my crystal lite, cut in half (doubled the water?) so I have 1 litre of the stuff.. I drank 1 litre of water this morning at the gym and will drink more water later.
What is it about working out on Sundays? My goodness! I drag my ass.. The music started out lame.. Then got better.. Coincidently, that is how my workout was.. It was a great cardio workout in the end (well, the end got a good toning workout, but that is of a slightly different context).. but man oh man I was dragging in the beginning! I hate that. It starts at 10. I usually start working out at 9ish during the week.. so WTF? Ugh..
So.. what are my goals this week? I should make some. My shoulder is not as unsore as it was last week, so I shall use lighter weights this week. Ugh! Maybe another massage? Ok.. so tomorrow afternoon, I shall go to the gym and do both the dance class, then the step class! Then on Wednesday, I shall do the step, then the dance.. That is adding to my cardio.. since the dance class really isn't that much. I shall stick to my program and make a better effort to clean my house. Dan scrubbed the kitchen spotless yesterday while feeling like crap. Puts me to shame!
I'm down 3 lbs this week. Yay! This is on top of losing the fibre bloat from last week (who knew carrots were evil? Heh.. millions of low carbers are now yelling I DID! You know.. if millions of lowcarbers read my journal.. so in fact, there is a good chance _no_ lowcarbers will answer.. ).. I'm 1 lbs down from when I went to Jamaica last October. This is GOOD news! I am.. 5 lbs from my lowest last year.. Isn't that just COOL!? Yippy!
Yesterday, I was trying to figure something out. One of our systems is only accessible with PCAnywhere now.. So I opened it up, saw that I didn't know, then closed it.. I apparently reset the entire switch by doing that.. Just picture hundreds of phone calls going dead and access telephone #s going off hook... (prepaid long distance cards).. I've got the POWER!! (it's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda hectic... it's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda hectic...) Ok.. for the love of shoes, I will stop singing. :D
Oh my! I've babbled...
Corinna
Corinna 03-21-04, 05:33 PM Hey Carol.. Thanks for the info.. I will see if I can find that the next time I need more! :)
Corinna
monicapink 03-21-04, 05:45 PM Corinna,
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FANTASTIC THREE POUND LOSS OF UNADULTERATED PURE BLUBBER .. :cheer: :cheer:
Just describing it that way  makes me gag .... I found your menu very interesting ....
You are REALLY MAKING PROGRESS ..... make it a great day. As always, Monica
Corinna 03-21-04, 05:47 PM Thanks Monica.. Thank you for visiting.. Tell me.. Interesting good? Interesting bad? Or just plain interesting odd? Heheheh
Corinna
That's great news about the loss, my gym-rat friend!
I'm guessing that, being Canadian, you've never had the heavenly manna referred to as a Krispy Kreme donut?! Otherwise, my journal post surely would have tempted you. Or at least inspired a short, sweet daydream!
Take care and keep up the hard work!
Corinna 03-21-04, 07:44 PM Badger - Yes, I've had them.. I remember being in the airport on my way to a meeting with a collegue and she was drooling over the KK's there.. I was like.. It's a donut.. get.. a... life! But now I understand. I just don't *love* donuts.
Ontarians generally love their edible oil products (we had the best KK opening in KK history a couple years ago).. But I'm from Quebec, so they don't appeal to me *as* much. ;)
Corinna
Corinna 03-21-04, 08:04 PM Oh yeah! I am missing veggies in there! I also had 2 cups of salad (the dark leafy kind) with tomatoes for dinner! Thanks monica for wondering.. :)
Corinna
Corinna 03-21-04, 08:16 PM I like this:
The next time someone compliments you, don't argue -- not even in your head.
Let those special words wash over you. Find every reason you can to believe them, to believe in yourself. That's power.
I agree with your idea on compliments. They say it takes 7 positive comments to make up for 1 negative one. But if we don't 'listen' to the positive ones... how can we ever make up for the negative ones? =)
Hi Cori,
Congratulations on the 3 pound weight loss. You have worked hard and earned it.
As far as the carrots, I knew they weren't allowed on SBD Phase I, now I know why. ;)
Carol
Corinna 03-21-04, 08:34 PM Heh - it didn't help that I ate 12 oz of them! Hehehe.. That's a lot of fibre! :o Thank you for the congrats. :x
Corinna
chumlette 03-21-04, 09:44 PM Bonsoir mon amie. I thought I would visit you. And you've lost THREE pounds.
OMG "fiber bloat?" WTF is that???
I think I have it! I think I have it! I think I have it!
Gah.
Are you in Montreal? That isn't too far from NYC. Could you please send your floor scrubber down here next weekend?
Thank you very much.
It's been delightful meeting you lately. You are a scream.
You are evil, truly evil! :lil: I already couldn't concentrate - now I have sadistic little badgers bouncing around in my head. Mushroom mushroom. Mushroom mushroom. Mmmmmm.....that's starting to sound good! Guess what I'm having for dinner? :D
Please thank Timmi for me!
bird songs 03-22-04, 03:26 PM Hi Corinna, congrats on the weight loss!!
Thanks for posting that pumpkin mousse thing, family loved it..
jessica 03-22-04, 06:24 PM ooooooh. I *really* liked Timmi's comment.
 Hi Cori!!
Corinna 03-22-04, 10:03 PM Bird: Pumpkin mousse thing? Oh yeah! No problem. I got it from Mel. Gotta love Mel! :x
Chumlette - comment ça tu parles francais? Non, j'habite en Ontario à ce moment.. mais j'habitais à Montreal pour les premiers 24 ans de ma vie. :) Although scrubber boy used my FREAKING bandana to scrub the kitchen.. Can you imagine?!?!?!
I'm pulling out his Christian Dior tux and scrubbing the toilet. Yes, yes I am..
'
Fibre bloat is weight gained from eating too much fibre.. Or at least that is my excuse. :)
Badger.. I am happy you liked the link. :)
Hi Jessica.
Ok, be thrilled for me everyone! Be proud! Notice that you are in the presence of greatness! I reeeeeeeeeeally wanted to get apple pie (i have been craving apple pie for weeks! but I like to get the pies bakes without sugar.. using splenda) and tonight I was so pissed off I thought.. screw it! Bring on the pie! But I just walked by it (screaming at myself to pick up the damn pie), paid for my milk and left the store.. I had my freaky dinner and will go to bed in a few. I think I might be coming down with something and would like to fight it off.. YAY ME! I didn't buy it, so obviously didn't eat it.. (Or did I? Someone will get home and think WTF?! Mouahahahahah!)
I'm in a bad mood.. woke up early, couldn't have breakfast, went to the doctors, go poked, prodded.. opened up and said "ah" in that annoying way.. gave blood, pee, and innerds for a pap.. My weight was down.. but I was in a bad mood (maybe the no coffee thing?! They didn't have sugarfree carnation hot chocolate, so no coffee for Cori, who only drinks cafe mochas).. Wahh, wah, wahh..
Today I had: 1/2 cup yogurt, some almonds and a banana after I got my blood tests done (how much damn blood do they need? In a veiny vein kinda way, I'm not a bleeder.. so I'm pumping my hands and it took like 3-4 minutes to fill the billion vials she wanted.. not fun! not that many people think needles are fun..).. l: 1 slize high fibre bread, 4 oz tuna, 2 tsps light mayo and 3 cups salad with scallions. s: 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 8 pistachios and 1 cup strawberries. d: 1 slice high fibre bread, 4 1/2 oz ground beef, 1/2 cup tomato sauce and 2 cups of grilled portabello mushrooms. Now that was tasty!
I had 80 oz of water.. not too shabby
Monica - I hope I did better on the veggies for you! :)
Ok, I'm going to bed - will catch up on journals later, promise!
Corinna
monicapink 03-22-04, 10:32 PM LOL ... it is getting better lol but what's wrong with perfect.
I hear what you're saying about your blood test .. unfortunately I have to go every three months (for the diabetes -- they won't take my word for it that my blood sugar is in the normal range) and I have (or so they say) AWFUL VEINS .... and rather than being a pincushion I tell them to take it from my hand ... it hurts like HE double hockey sticks . but at least they are able to draw enough for all the tests (there are 4 of them) ....
You're doing great Corinna ... . the fact that you AVOIDED THE TEMPTATION .... that imo shows your focus is WHERE IT SHOULD BE. Make it a great evening ... As always, Monica
Whoa, woman of steel, no pie for her!!!!!
Good going Corinna!!! You did yourself proud, and we are proud of you too.
Hi Cori.
good job on walking by that apple pie :)
Your menus are looking good girl...not sure i share your affection for mushrooms though lol.
hugs bell :)
Corinna 03-23-04, 09:30 AM Mmmmmmmmmmm, mushrooms.
I'm UP this morning. I hate the scale.
Thanks for the props, guys. :)
Corinna
You're so much more brave than I am. I really, really hate blood draws. I think there HAS to be a better way for them to get the information they need. Can I spit in a cup? Can they scrape skin flakes? Cut a finger nail? I mean, seriously.
If they can figure out that stem cells can regenerate male pattern baldness, can't they come up with something better than slicing into a vein? :c(
maximum 03-23-04, 04:27 PM HI Corrina ;)
I finally got over here... Well aren't you Witty...
Congratz in the 3 pounds :dc
Cori, you are doing really well and passing up pie is definitely something to get excited about..... especially when you've been craving it! Good going!! I'm finding that's the best way to prevent "anger eating" and that's just not to bring the things I like to chew hard on in my house!
We had Alan's (my husband for those of you who don't know...) 50th birthday party at my son's house on the 13th and I'm usually an icing freak. I had a fresh fruit salad that I made instead and wasn't even tempted by the icing. My cravings have gone for now.... I know that won't always be the case, but I'm grateful for it right now.
What are you having blood drawn for? Hope you are okay.... too bad you don't have veins like mine. They are huge and nurses love them. I've had paramedics learn to take blood from mine, they are so big. lol
I think you are doing a great job! Keep it up! And thanks for the encouragment to start my journal in here.....
sandielynne 03-23-04, 06:42 PM Good evening Corinna,
How has your day gone? I hope it was a good one. I actually got outside for a walk today. The sun was shinning too. I don't know how much of this goodness my poor mind can take in all at once, but I've so ready to find out. Aren't you?
You take care now and I do hope that I see you in chat later this evening.
Hugs,
Sandie
jessica 03-23-04, 06:59 PM apple pie congrats in order!!
MelsaEstel 03-23-04, 07:33 PM Hey! Congrats on the recent loss! I have noticed that you are always encouraging everyone else, your name is in the "last post by" column at least 5 times everytime I look! So, just wanted to bring a little more your way!
I completely understand about the needles and giving blood. I have never had to give blood, luckily. I almost pass out everytime I have even a shot! I can't watch needles on tv, and don't like to be anywhere near them! Last year, I lived on campus, and they would have blood drives in the lobby of my building. The same lobby that I had to walk through to get to the dining commons or work! I would look at the opposite wall and walk as quickly as I could! It's terrible!
Good luck this week!
chumlette 03-23-04, 07:55 PM Oooo. You walked on by the pie. Walkin' on by, walkin' on by, walkin' on by.
I am SO impressed. I still have to walk WAYYYYY around the frosting aisle. Just from the psychological perspective.
Girl, you are a rock. A ROCK.
A haiku to celebrate:
Pie. Never as good.
Won't meet your expectations.
But neither will beets.
Sigh.
Sorry. It's the best I can do tonight.:tomato:
Corinna 03-23-04, 11:03 PM Good Tuesday everyone..
I apparently haven't met up to Monica's expectations yet.. We'll see what today's menu does.. meet expectations? Get close but yet oh so far> Hehehehe
Monica - from your hand?! OWIEEEEEEEEEEE! I'll stop complaining now. (although the needle "site" was sore tonight at the gym..
Crazy - Heheh.. Thanks. :o Am I steel? It's nice to FINALLY feel that way. I spent (wasted?) months and months having the jedi mind trick work really really well on me..
Bell - Mushrooms are our friends! You don't like 'em? I *love* mushrooms.. Almost to a fault.. Thankfully, they're good for you.
Timmi - not courage.. yearly check-up. Actually, this is the first time I've had my blood taken since I was pg with Emily. *ahem*
Maximum - I'm hoping you didn't say I'm witty in a facetious way. Hehehe.. Thanks for stopping by. :)
Dj - thanks. Blood being drawn for routine blood check (see if I still have some?)
Sandie - I guess I should head on over to chat now, eh? Day was good.. Will post it below..
Jessica - Thanks. :)
Melissa - I do usually give blood, I have no problem with it. I just felt very processed yesterday.. Peeing in cups, things being stuck in me, blah blah blah.. I'm sorry you have a phobia to it. I don't enjoy it.. But eh.. it's life. Thanks for stopping by! :x My name is always up there? I have too much free time at work (literally).
Chum - *love* the haiku. I still want pie, though. ACK! Won't have any for.. 4 weeks, I think.. I dunno.. we'll see. This is day 5 for me. Not 24 or 25 like some other women here who JUST ROCK! Am I a rock? I feel a Paul Simon song coming on..
I am a rock.. I am an issssssssland...
Was about to end my post! Silly, silly Cori.
Busy day! Got up, did laundry, got the girls ready for school, drove them to school, ran an errand for Dan, got coffee.. went to the gym.. They had *just* given out the LAST ticket for Maria's class.. So I begged the ticket taking guy to let me in.. So he did. God LOVE HIM!! Someone asked if i flirted my way in.. I'm like.. honey, it'd be more accurate for me to promise not to flirt if he lets me in.. So I get in. YAYAYAYAYAAAAAAAAAAY! do an amazing class.. come home, have lunch, put Emily down for a nap, do 30 minutes of yoga, then dishes, floor, cupboards all cleaned.. Closet cleaned out.. What's that? Emily's awake.. She gets a bath while I clean the bathroom.. she runs around naked while I change sheets.. get her dressed, get a sweater and my jacket on (IS IT REALLY SPRING!?!) and take her and Chevy (the dog who is alive) for a walk (40 mins)... get the girls at the bus.. come home, make the kids clean more with me.. Kaitlin does her homework, I make dinner then go to class again at the gym (cardio kick this time)..
I just got home, put the kids to bed, had my snack and will take my shower in a few minutes. It's allllllll good!
So today I ate:
b: 3/4 cup ultra lowfat cottage cheese, 8 pistachios and strawberries
l: 3 cups salad with scallions and tomatoes with 4 oz tuna and 2 tsp light mayo
d: 3 oz grilled beef (which, for the price, was really crappy!), 12 asparagus spears and 1 cup tomato juice
s: 1 pear, 2 oz cheese, 12 peanuts
That was my day. *pathud*
For the record, Sandie - you aren't in chat now.
Corinna
jessica 03-23-04, 11:35 PM dang. And people call *me* productive???
Corinna 03-23-04, 11:53 PM Jessica - ummm.. you are.
Crap, there was something else I wanted to say.. but forgot.
And no, Timmi, it wasn't a lie.
Corinna
Corinna 03-24-04, 10:27 PM Wednesday. Hump Day. Blech.. My workweek starts tomorrow.. BOO!! HISS!! Hehehe..
Did I mention that the girls got their report cards and they sucked? Apparently Hope doesn't know her colours.. WTF?! Silly, silly Hope.
Kaitlin is doing ok.. but.. Guh! lacks common sense.. (DTM's side of the family, obviously).. She's learning words, getting them right on her dictées, then writes them wrong when composing sentences.. She isn't tranferring what she has learned from one thing to another.. It's just odd. She is also not doing so well on word problems in math.. I wonder if she would do better in an English school? We have started (AGAIN) to speak on in French at home. We need tante Boblin to come and stay with us pour un bout de temps.. Oui? :)
Anyway, working on it. I hate, hate, hate reading with Kaitlin.. She cries all the time and BLECH! It's not fun. I do it all nice, etc etc.. But still! I'm sure she senses it (maybe from my growling?) What am I doing wrong? How do I make this right? GAH!
Ok.. That was yesterday.. let's get a little more recent.
Today: I got up, dressed, dressed my kids, fed them, prepared lunches, dropped them off at school, went for a product viewing (Easier $10 I ever made without a pillow strapped to my back), went to the gym, danced, went to the mall, got contacts, got lunch and stuff for dinner, came home, Emily napped while I cleaned up a bit. Oh yes, I sorted and folded about 140000000 loads of laundy.. went to pick up the girls from school, brought them to the pool, faught with Kaitlin to do her homework, chased after Emily around the pool (calling to her for about 5 minutes after she ran into the men's changeroom.. a nice man finally brought her out).. went to get shoes, because the ones Timmi gave her don't fit Kaitlin anymore (So she has bigger feet than Timmi does and Kaitlin is 7 and Timmi is.. older than 7)... Got her 3 pairs of shoes, came home, made dinner (YUM!) read with Kaitlin, put them to bed and did the dishes.
Now I am sitting on my ass writing to you all.
Food:
b: 2 eggs, 1 cup mushrooms, 1 oz cheese, 1/2 english muffin
l: 1 chicken kabob on pita with hummus, tabbouleh and tomatoes
d: 3 oz chicken and about 4 cups of stirfry veggies (2 red peppers, 2 zucchini, 2 cups mushrooms and some green onions.. Mmm, mmm, mMmmm!)
no snacks today.. But I'm plenty full!
That's my day in a nutshell.
My brother is moving away tomorrow.. I'll miss him. :c(
Corinna
You've done SO much more than me today. My day? Walk to WW. Attend meeting. Run for 3.5 miles home. Have a snack. Do yoga. Have a shower. Eat lunch. Sit on ***** for many hours. Go to store. Buy junky food. Order a calzone for dinner (veggie!). Whine and complain about a myriad of things because I hate the rain and my husband is out until really late tonight.
And that's about it. Jealous? Oh, I did take out the garbage and clean the toilet. And sigh angrily at the yowling cat a LOT.
And there is nothing wrong with small feet. :o
Corinna 03-24-04, 11:04 PM Oh! I wanted to mention that I walked PAST the chocolate cookies that were calling my name today!! YAY ME!! WOO HOO!!!
Oh man oh man oh man it's a big accomplishment!
Timmi - heh.. I have kids. My tomorrow is even more busy.. David and Karen want to stop by before going to the airport.. Oy!
Corinna
MelsaEstel 03-25-04, 12:24 AM Congrats with the cookies! That is tough! I gave in to some pizza this afternoon, but threw most of it away. It wasn't very good! That was exciting!
I don't know how you do it! I could never get that many things done in a day, and I am far from having kids! Keep up the good work, Corrina!
jessica 03-25-04, 01:31 AM yay! Excellent about the cookies. Your day sounds exhausting.
re the reading...
1. is it subject matter she loves?
2.Have you tried pre-reading everything to her?
3. Have you tried having DTM read with her?
...dunno, just thoughts.
Timmi...your day sounds better than mine. I envy you the run!
Jess: Yes, the run was quite nice. It was pretty much the only part of the day that was sunny. =) I even cut some time off of my usual route. =)
Cori,
It sounds like you have more than 24 hours in your day. You and Jess must be on the same time zone.
Does Emily go to the gym with you? Your food sounds like you are really staying on program. You are going to lose this time. I hear a real determination and confidence in your posts.
Carol
Corinna 03-26-04, 08:28 PM Crappy day. :(
Oh, Corinna..... don't let it get you down. You've been doing so well. Just get a good nights rest and start fresh in the morning. One day won't ruin what you've already done. Just refuse to let it and don't give in.
Hope tomorrow is brighter for you..... take care and have a good nights rest.
I'm sending a big  to make tomorrow a better day!
And I saw your prayer request and sent warm, lucky thoughts to Kim.
Take care Corinna. :spring:
sandielynne 03-26-04, 09:29 PM Hi Corinna,
You know, it's not fair speaking a "foreign" language that I can't share reading. You need to remind Boblin too. Why, I would never post in German in my journal.
Reading your schedule is enough to wear me out. But I very easily remember what it was like when I had 3 small kids at home. My youngest, I swear, must have been secretly fathered by some ape. There was NO keeping her down or in anything...........haha At 13 months old, she climbed the 4' fence that went around our yard, climbed back down the other side, and took off across the street chasing her older brothers. I will never forget it. So I know how busy you must be, and then working nights along with it. Sucks, if you ask me........haha But then, you didn't, did you?
Hang in there Corinna. I wish I could grab your hand and hold on. Because right now I'm having a horrible time myself.
Hugs,
Sandie
hi Corrina.
I'll answer Sandie here this morning. The reason for the french was not to hide nothing. I was only trying to cheer her up. all that was said was you need a french granny close by to read french to her children and to bad I'm so far because i'd love to volunteer.
Other that that the smilley face i told her to get that ugly face off and smile. Now that's better. And that i didn't want to see no more:c( Sorry didn't mean to offend anyone.
Corinna....... how are you doing today? Any better.....? I sure hope so!
Corinna 03-27-04, 08:37 PM Gee, how am I doing?
Ugh.. Been pretty down for a few days now. I think it has to do with my brother moving away. I have no family left, so why stay in a place I don't like? Sure, I have Timmi and a couple of other good friends here, but Montreal is my home. Dang Mtl and their crappy job market!! Blech.
Did badly on food, too.. Have a touch of the stomach flu, so it didn't do any damage, but still!
Exercise is the same.. same ole, same ole..
Thank you everyone for the well wishes.
Sandie - actually, to be honest, I think you should write whatever language you want to write in your journal. It's your journal. Same goes with mine. :) Boblin wasn't being rude and I really appreciate what she said.
Otherwise, not else is new.
Corinna
Corinna I thought hearing a little bit of your own language would bring a bit of a :o hope it worked. hope you cheer up wish I could be there to give you a big((((((((hug)))))))))) and those two kissed on the cheeks that us french man do. LOL.
Some of our ways are funny but I wouldn't change them for the world I love meeting friends and not be afraid to hug and kiss them. It feel so darn good. Here's another (((((((hug)))))) wrap those arms around yourself and think it's me Big Fat Mama. LOL.
Cheer up.
Well, Cor, with all those things happening at once no wonder you are struggling under it all.
Hang in there, things will get better. Promise. :)
Hi Cori, I am sorry you are feeling down. Where is your brother moving to.
I am also sorry you have had the stomach flu. You couldn't have gotten it from me. I know computers get virus but don't think they could pick up mine and contaminate you.
When spring gets here you will feel better.
Carol
Corinna 03-28-04, 09:18 PM Will spring ever be here? Today's Simple Abundance message was about how it's never too late to revise. With a plan of attack, you can clear away the past.
I would like to take this next week to spring clean my bedroom. My husband doesn't understand my need to get bookshelves in there, but bully for him, right? *sigh* I need to find something that will go with my room and I haven't much time (or money). I wish!
Today was ok. I woke up sick.. Floundered around until Dan got up and then went back to sleep for 2 hours. I got up, took Chevy for a walk and then did yoga. Took a quick shower and I was off to work. I've been here since.
I picked up a bag of Reece's bits or whatever they are called and set them down at the checkout (sorry to those who have to clean up after people like me!!).. YAY ME! I didn't buy it!
So, to eat, I had:
b:1 cup cottage cheese, 1 peach and 12 pistachios
l: 1 slice pizza, 1 cup tomato juice
d: 4 oz chicken on whole wheat bun, with 3 cups of broccoli and cauliflower, 1 banana
s: will have popcorn. :)
Corinna
Not too shabby!
sandielynne 03-28-04, 09:38 PM Corinna,
To you and Boblin both, I most sincerely offer my deepest apologies. I "thought" I was joking with you, and had no intention of upsetting or hurting anyone's feelings. I see that I did both. Boblin, you offended no one, least of all myself. And if we had all been in a room, face to face, it would have been understood that I was poking fun and not criticizing. I need to think twice when trying to make light of something and only able to express that in text and without visual stimulation. I can't say "sorry" enough.
I'm sending you best wishes for a better day as each one passes Corinna. It is a shame that you can't be closer to your family. I guess the job market is not only horrible here in the US then? Maybe things will pick up soon, and then you will be able to all go back and live where you are closer to your family and a place you like to be in instead of being where you dislike it so much.
Hugs,
Sandie
Corinna 03-29-04, 12:33 AM Huh? Sandie - I wasn't offended at all. Please do not apologize! Maybe you can teach me some german? :)
Corinna
Corinna 03-29-04, 12:03 PM Well.. for the past few days, I have been noticing my ass looked REALLY big.. I was pretty upset about it.. Thinking, I can't be pregnant (trust me, it'd be impossible.. *sigh* not enough time in the day for some things when you work opposite your husband.. it's NOT FAIR!) Anyway... I'm looking in the mirror and you have to understand that these jeans fit me in the waist, but otherwise are HUGE on me.. in the hips, ass, thighs, everything.. So I pull back the fabric et voilà! I'm not nearly as fat. Silly, eh? And my other pair is even worse! Hehehehe
So far today, I have had: 4 eggwhite omlette with 1 oz cheese and 1/4 cup salsa on 1 slice high fibre bread
Lunch? I thik I might just make hubby some salmon! Wheeeeeeeee!
Corinna
jessica 03-29-04, 12:19 PM I have that large bootay syndrome, too. Only it's not a fabric thing, by bootay is big.
*sigh*
If Cori would just listen to me when I say that her pants are WAY too big, she wouldn't have had those days of feeling bigger than she is.
What lesson do we learn from this? Listen to Timmi! :coach:
Corinna 03-29-04, 12:40 PM Timmi.. Hehe.. says the pot to the kettle. 8-|
Jessica - I'm sure you bootay is just fine! Just remember, there are those I would blow to be where you are. ;)
Corinna
jowc123 03-29-04, 06:37 PM Corrinna,
Since you dropped by my journal I figured I would track yours down. My, for a new person to journaling you have quite a bit of activity. (I just scanned some of the pages.)
Sorry to hear about your dog. I really understand about that. Five years ago we made that decision with my 18 year old cat. He was my baby, I had lived with him longer than anyone other than my husband. They become a part of your life.
I have a little bit of an idea about you, but not as much as I would like to know. Sounds like you have at least lost enough to get your jeans baggy. Jeans are the gold standard to me, unforgiving of a gain.
One bit of advice from someone who has managed to keep 50 pounds off 2+ years. Get rid of the baggy clothes as you go down, especially jeans. It is excellent reinforcement of your progress. It also lets you tell yourself that you are NOT going to gain the weight back. It is a little thing, but helps.
Come by and visit me again. I'm getting ready for another run to go a little lower.
Jo
sandielynne 03-29-04, 09:13 PM Hi Corinna,
And how has your day been?? Are you feeling any better? Is your cold gone yet? I had a fun but busy day today and feel really good still. I also had a nap this afternoon, and I was worried it would keep me from sleeping tonight. Now I don't think so. I have already begun to yawn.......haha
Well I hope all is well on your Canadian front.
Hugs,
Sandie
Corinna:
Thanks for stopping by my journal. Now that you have one going I will pop in and see how your doing. I am so glad now that Spring has finally started. I just love walking and working in this type of weather.
Hope you have a wonderfull day tommorrow.
Judy2:ex:
hope those Eeyore glum days hit the road soon Cori!
Kids arent always easy are they? Caitlin loves reading but Riley doesnt care for it..Riley has decided that around anyone but his family he wont speak so now people think he is mute...motherhood..ah the joy!
How old are your kids now?
hugs bell :)
Corinna 03-30-04, 05:57 PM Eeyore glum day? That, it is, my friends!
Bell: Well, Kaitlin likes to read in English, which is a good sign. It's her mother toungue (and let's face it, a buttload easier to learn than French.. most French words are an exception to the grammar rule).. Just tell people that Riley only speaks when he has something to say and he doesn't say things to strangers.. hehehe
Judy - you obviously wrote that yesterday.. RAIN until next Monday?! OY! I'm happy you are enjoying it, in any case.
Sandie - I rarely get to nap. :( You lucky duck! I guess maybe I'm PMS'd? I dunno.. too many mirrors at the gym.
I bought some jeans today and they weren't from eithe the Gap or a Plus size store and they're a 16.. So I am comfortable saying that I now wear size 16!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeee! I know, it's still a fair ways from most people, but I have to celebrate the small things, right?
I wear a 14 from Gap and plus size stores.. which is annoying. I hate that they vanity size.
Anyway, yesterday I... went to the gym and did my dance class. I had tuna salad salad for lunch and 3 oz beef and a billion cups of veggies for dinner..
Oh! I also had a Kenetix protein bar.. frosted peanut. I knew it tasted nasty, but couldn't place the taste.. Then it came to me.. It slightly tasted the way doggy poop smells. *puke*amp
Today? I had: 3/4 cup shreddies, 1 cup milk, 12 peanuts (NONE of the protein powder).. ground beef and 3 cups vvarious stir fried veggies.. snack.. w ell, I just had a strawberry.. I need something else.. Hrm.. I will have something before the dentist, but need something quick and Zone friendly for dinner.
I feel an aura developing. Oh joy.. Off to take ibuprophen.
Corinna
Corinna 03-30-04, 05:59 PM Jowc - Ooops! Missed you in my replies. Thank you for stopping by! I will get rid of the jeans, you just have to understand that by the time they fit nicely in the waist, the rest is uber baggy - what is a gal to do?! I got some today that are snug in the waist, but already a bit baggy in the butt and thighs. *sigh*
Good job on losing the weight.. I look forward to reading your journey!
Corinna
OMGOSH........ your description of your kenetix bar.... LOLOLOL and major YUCK! Your day sounded good up until that.
Good going on getting into the 16's..... you're doing great! I'm glad you are feeling better, too. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll make it this time! No doubts!
Protein Blast bars with maca are pretty good. I don't know the numbers, but they could be Zone friendly. =) I've only seen them 2 places, though. Cultures and Nunzio's. I'll look for them the next time I'm near either.
Don't feel down! It's the weather! The stupid rain and greyness. =( Plus, you should come play with me sometime soon. =)
chumlette 03-30-04, 09:41 PM Yahoo!!! A SIXTEEN!!! I can't wait to be in a 16!!! How exciting.
How did you ever measure a BILLION cups of vegetables? No wonder you have fiber bloat!
jessica 03-31-04, 02:34 AM I don't want to be the loo that has to flush a billion cups of digested veggies.
Oy.
Hi Corinna. Saw your Eeyore comments this morning and had to chuckle. My morning coffee cup is one I got at Disney World last year. It has Eeyore slumped over and says "Happy Go Lucky" on it. The sarcasm cracks me up every morning. :D They've gotten so sarcastic with Eeyore overall, too. Before we moved away from SoCal, DH's dad came to visit and he had to go to Disneyland. All I remember from that visit is finding a lovely, soft, squishy Eeyore doll in one store where you do something to it and it talks. In this case, there was a butterfly on his nose. If you moved the butterfly, the doll would say, in the drollest monotone, "Bye bye butterfly....thanks for noticing me." DH and I still walk around saying that! I almost bust a gut with that doll that afternoon. I should've bought the darn thing!
Hope you have a lovely day and the aura was caught in time!
maximum 03-31-04, 02:35 PM Hay Low!
:dc Well Hot Diggity Damn on the 16
Good Job Chicklette
Cori, congratulations on size 16 pants. I wear a lot of pants that are at least a size too big. It sure feels good to put on a pair that really fit. I still wear the big ones but love my new jeans.
You are doing so great. I am so excited to buy clothes smaller than my last purchase. I did have a disappointment today, I usually wear a medium petite blouse but today I had to get a large. It buttoned just fine but the arm holes were small. I checked and it was made in China, guess they are small through the shoulders. I need a tropical print shirt for a party Saturday night. I don't like to go a size up. :(
Carol
Corinna 03-31-04, 04:24 PM I've already exercised for today, so why can't I go to bed and wait for tomorrow to begin? HUH!?? WHY!
I forgot the stroller outside and it's wet and the girls have swimming. I guess Emily will run amok whilst we're there. *joy*
What have I eaten?
b: 2 tbsp cottage cheese, 1 oz cheddar and 1/4 slice o' high fibre bread with 1 tsp pb.
l: 2 cups salad, 1 cup cut fruit, 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 1 turkey globbler patty from Lick's
d: salmon and salad and maybe a potato? I dunno, not there yet.
Dj - It was pretty gross, thanks. Hehehe.. Thanks for the congrats too..
Timmi - Cool beans. I'd love to come play, but no flow..
Chumlette - I'm pretty sure you'll be in and out of 16s before I get out of them.. Thanks for the congrats! And you measure it with a really big cup.
Jessica - Hehehehe
Badger (badger badger badger - mushroom mushroom) - A fan of eeyore, eh? I think winnie the pooh promotes tolerance of people with mental illnesses, but not as much as Oswald. I HATE that shoe! Ick. Yes, aura caught in time.
Max- thanks for the congrats. Thank you for the carrot.. The dancing bananas scare me.
Carol - Thanks for the congrats! I'm excited. I bought this outfit right before I got canned from my last job that I couldn't even close over my belly.. When you know what? I bet by the time I go to Toledo in a couple of weeks, they will fit just fine! YAYA!
I need to go sew my sportsbra back together.. I was at Sears clearance today and could I find a bra in my size? NO! The only 38s were Ds and they had 42 DD and 44DD and 46Fs (Holy boobsize!), etc etc.. But no 38DDs. Bastards.
I sucked in my gut and thought how I would topple over if I got that slim and my breasts hadn't gotten any smaller! :(
Have a great day! I have to prepare for the rest of mine.
Corinna
jessica 03-31-04, 06:04 PM My girls got smaller, but no higher up. Just profoundly sad. Must...go...bra shopping. (that's almost as much fun as a papsmear, I'm thinking...)
hope you got the sportsbra sewn up Cori, bra shopping is not my fave pasttime either..over here they have everything in a push up..so instead of flattening them down i am almost staring straight into them if you get my drift lol..
Have a good day, heres hoping Emily sits quietly with mum ..
hugs bell :)
Fastening pants that you want to take to Toledo is a major goal. I have a pair that I bought with that in mind. I just don't have a time frame.
What are you going to do in Toledo?
Carol
Corinna 03-31-04, 07:17 PM Carol: I'm going to a Stampin' Up! regional thing in Toledo. I can do the pants up now.. I just wouldn't breathe well all day. I am going in 2 weeks, 2 days.. I should have enough to lose *just* enough. :D That's my plan, anyway.
Bell: Yeah! I hear you. I look at the padded DDs and think WTF?!?! Who needs that? I just don't want to look like Madonna's bullet-bra (I call it the russian grandmother look)..
Jessica - I'm not entirely sure what they do to you when you go shopping for bras, but here, it's all about the breasts, not getting your innerds scraped. :tomato:
Corinna
Corinna 03-31-04, 09:20 PM I aim to amuse..
I had 1/2 a fish stick for dinner, I'm thinking I need more. I'll have my Zone snack, methinks!
Ok, does anyone who reads my journal wear 2x? I have this really cute shirt.. It's pink with a pattern of some sort (flowers maybe?) flared long sleeves, a bit lowcut and quite sheer.. Not so sheer that you see through it, but still. It's quite nice, but I picked it up because it was uber cheap and have never worn it. It's really cute! If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll ship it off to you. I think I took the tags off, but otherwise, it's completely new! You never know, I might throw in a handmade card, too! Heheheh
I wear a 1x, which is why I don't wear it.. Otherwise, I would.
Corinna
sandielynne 03-31-04, 10:00 PM Hi Corinna,
You definitely need more to eat.
Bra shopping is better when you are getting a bra that really fits properly. The other day Skew mentioned a site www.plussizebras.org. They explain a more detailed way of measuring for a bra, and they are sponsored by a site that sells bras for fuller busted women.
I didn't fully understand how they used the measurements to determine the size, so I took down all the 5 required measurements and sent them in, and received an answer almost immediately. So tonight I ordered one bra in the recommended size. I can't wait for it to arrive to see how close they came to really fitting me correctly for the first time. Because to be honest with you, I didn't even know that had bras in the size I just ordered. But I'm glad they do........hahaha
Still check it out. You might just find exactly what you are needing. And this time, it just might fit better than any bra has ever fit you before.
I also think you need to try different styles and different labels of jeans. They do make jeans in many styles to suit about every body shape. And if you got the right style, they would fit the hip and bootay just as nicely as they fit the waist. You just have to keep looking.
Hugs,
Sandie
jessica 04-01-04, 01:56 AM ummm....well....here's what I was thinking about as I wrote what I wrote. (in comparing a bra shop to a pap.)
At the pap doc, you spread 'em, they do what they do, you pay lots of money. They detect early cancers of the girl parts, you walk away...well, not exactly happy, but...whatever.
My last bra shop? Medium-elderly lady w/ measuring tape around her neck assesses me, nekkid neck to waist, with a half frown on her face. Takes tape, measures, touches my nipples with it, measures, never a word, always the same half frown. Gets a couple of granny-bras (not the cute CK uber expensive ones)(this, btw, was years ago, pre Abby...) and sort of shoves them at me; I put them on, come out, she clucks, shaking her head, and sort of...adjusts me. Did I mention she had those glasses??? (pince nez, I think...) ...And the bra I bought itched.
Now?
Me?
Flat and flacid???
At least the doctor smiles as she violates me.
jowc123 04-01-04, 11:27 PM Corrina,
Great on the jeans. I too have trouble getting them to fit both the waist and the butt. But I have found some brands that work pretty good. I think a pair of jeans that fit are so motivating.
Are you trying to do some low carb stuff? I saw you mentioned bars. I like the Zone Bars, some flavors are better than others. I also like the mint flavored Balance Bars. I carry them in my purse at all times and they have been a great help for the times I am away from home. Instead of fast food I whip out my bar and have a diet drink or water. Zone in particular will keep me from getting hungry for several hours.
Regarding bras, I like the ones with three or more fasteners. But they don't make that many of those in size 36. So when I find one that fits (usually 36D) I will buy two or three. Like a good pair of fitting jeans, a good fitting bra is a wonderful thing. I vaguely remember the days when I thought I was small busted. When I was at my highest weight the darn things got in my way.
So good bras and good jeans, important basics in the wardrobe. And they need to be replaced as you are losing weight. Other stuff can be a little baggy, but not those two things.
Jo
Corinna 04-01-04, 11:32 PM Jessica: I have *never* in my life had that experience! Never been measure or felt up by another woman.. (not even at camp!)
Sandielynne: The woman on the home page sure has hooters! Hehehe.. Thanks for the link.
My day? It was good. My asthma is acting up, which sucks. I went to two classes this morning. Maria looks happier and happier to see me going. I wore my new jeans to work tonight and my buddy, Jun said that I've lost weight! Wheeeeeeeeee!
Food was good.. it's all good..
Corinna
Corinna 04-01-04, 11:36 PM Jo - I hear you! Thanks for the congrats. Not low carbing, just eating a balanced diet.. "The Zone", for the most part. (hence the zone bars!)
I haven't even tried Zone bars, haven't found them.. But what are you going to do?
I do need new bras! These things are stretched out and ripping and everything. Yuck.
Thanks for stopping by!
Corinna
sandielynne 04-02-04, 12:04 AM Hi Corinna,
Glad your day was good, your food was good, and your exercise was good. Too bad your bras are nothing but rags.........lol
I wrote to the webmaster, and they helped me find out what size I needed, and then I order one. I am keeping my fingers crossed, and can't wait to try it on. But of course, it must arrive first.......haha
I'll let you know how they did with choosing the right size for me. Right now I'm not about to tell you what it was because I would be embarrassed as hell........haha
I did great today exercise and drinking, but food was not the best. Thank goodness tomorrow is a new beginning, right?
Hugs,
Sandie
What?? I mock your huge, baggy jeans to encourage you to buy some that actually fit and you wear them to work BEFORE you let me see you in them? What kind of friend does that?! X-(
Sheesh! =)
Good morning Chickadee!
Congratulations on shrinking into new jeans! Mine are just starting to get baggy in the butt. Yahoo!
I too have pants problems like yours. One brand I've found is pretty good is Style & Co Woman from Macy's women's dept. It's worth searching out. The stretch denim works especially well because I can buy it to fit my waist better and let it stretch more over my hips. They're not inexpensive (IMHO), but I wait for a sale and then pay about $25. Gloria Vanderbilt women's sizes in stretch aren't bad either. More $$ and the waist is shorter so they're more like hipsters, but again takes care of the baggy waist problem.
On the bra front, I just bought bras too. I must've tried on 50 bra styles at Kohl's before finding one I like. I was switching from my standby Victoria's Secret bras because they just changed the style and now the underwires are poking me. The brand I chose is Playtex Secrets (I think there's something like "ultimate luxury" in the name too - it has a sparkly diamond-like thing right between the breasts). I'm a 40C usually, but this is a 40D. The underwires are very comfortable. My sports bras are from Sears - again the women's department. They're uncomfortably tight and make me look flat chested, but I prefer that to uncontrolled bouncing.
Of course, I just realized you're in Canada and likely don't have access to either a Kohl's or Macy's. Still, maybe it will encourage you to get out there and try a bunch of things on. Afterall, it took me 50+ tries to find ONE satisfactory bra!
OK, enough rambling. I hope you have a splendiferous day! :D
maximum 04-02-04, 01:03 PM :caf: Congratz on the compliment..... Thats da best aintit!
Whats with all this bra talk? All I know is when I hit goal. I'll need to be getting me some .... Breasts that is... The Rocks in socks look just aint happen!
:spring: Have a good weekend!
MelsaEstel 04-02-04, 04:23 PM I hate bra shopping with a passion! I get to the store, find one that fits, but after I leave the store, I find out that they don't work well over long periods of time. I tend to spill out over the top, no matter what size I try! It's frustrating! I am not incredibly huge ( a D is the latest spillage failure). I need to find a good way to get the right size. Why is it so complicated?
jowc123 04-02-04, 07:09 PM Corrina,
The Zone bars are hard to find and a little on the expensive side. The flavor that I like the best, chocolate Rasberry seems to have been discontinued. My luck. The thing I like the best about them is that they are NOT like eating a candy bar. And they last for several hours. They are perfect for when you are away from home to help keep you away from fast food or a "snack".
Keep up the good work.
Jo
Corinna 04-04-04, 12:22 PM I hope the part where you see the thread owner comes back. I couldn't even find my own journal. Hehehe..

I'll update later.
Corinna
Corinna 04-04-04, 12:23 PM Oh duh, it DOES list the thread starter.. I haven't had my coffee yet this morning. Whee!

Corinna 04-04-04, 03:44 PM Thanks for the kudos, my friends!
I am having the most horrible self-esteem day! I feel like crying and I feel downright bad.. I think it's been a few days coming, though.. I just feel like a big failure and I don't know why!! I need sleep, exercise, and some lovin', I think.. Will have to let DTM know about the lovin' part.. hehehe, I work until midnight, so I guess that ain't gonna happen (neither will the nap).
I did go swimming today. That was good, right? And to the gym for my class.
Maybe I should eat today? That might be it.. No, I had about 1/2 cup cottage cheese.. Maybe I'll make Monica a happy person and have some veggies. :D
Corinna
monicapink 04-04-04, 03:53 PM LOL .... I am thrilled you are eating veggies :dc
I don't know why you feel down ... you have done so well ... you've lost weight you're on plan .... YOU HAVE SHOWN TERRIFIC FOCUS AND COMMITMENT TO SUCCEED :cheer: .... imho YOU ARE DEFINITELY A SUCCESSFUL LOSER .
I think your going swimming was a plus  .. and I admire the fact that you DIDN'T GO OFF PLAN ... you deserve applause and a tremendous pat on the back (will give you a :ribbon: ... since there are no smilies for pats on the back) You're doing great and you should be :coach: shouting to the world I AM DOING GREAT ON MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY . Make it a great day. As always, Monica
Corinna 04-04-04, 04:33 PM Oh, I did go off plan last night.. But after some tummy troubles, it was voided. Hehehe.. pun intended.. sorta..
I'd say I was back on plan today, but I haven't been hungry..
I should go get something to eat now..
Corinna
I hear ya, Cori. I've been really craving junky food lately. I haven't given in, but I guess I've been feeling deprived. I'll have Easter and then get right back on plan. That'll have to work, right?
I'm also pretty dang tired, so maybe sleep will help. =)
And yes! You really should eat. Don't make me kick your... behind. What a lame substitute, but you know what I'd actually say.
Corinna 04-04-04, 04:37 PM Yeah, you just buy the junkfood! I can't say no to it.
and you can say ass in my journal. ;)
You know what I want? A panzerotti! With asparagus and mushrooms.
I need to get the girls their easter presents.
Cori
Corinna 04-04-04, 04:39 PM They don't have asparagus at Pizza Nova! Bastards!
I like spinach and mushrooms in mine. *drool*
Mama's Pizza has spinach now and they deliver to my house. Whee! =)
Corinna 04-04-04, 06:29 PM Timmi - I had chicken and mushroom and it was good. Next time J orders 'za from there, try some.. Mmm, mmm, mmm!
Dan wants to get K & H portab;e CD players for Easter.. I think we should give them ours and then make them a bunch of CDs for Easter, since we're kinda broke. That and all their candy and a doll each should be good! :) They also want to bake and make candy for Easter and I should make something for their class. OY!
Corinna
Corinna

Corinna 04-04-04, 07:37 PM My kids have PJs coming out their ears! I wanted to get Kaitlin a bike, since she's outgrown her last one (I should give it to Timmi, maybe? HEE!).. But we haven't the dough for a bike. poop. We'll see.. I will scour the stores and decide.
I could get those icky sugar eggs and I won't eat them.. Or he Cadbury cream filled eggs. *puke*
Corinna
Corinna 04-04-04, 07:44 PM Oh, so let me tell you about what happened on Friday..
I go to the gym and I fix my my ripped bra in the van in the parking lot.. I take Emily to daycare and then go to class and set up my step and weights and bodybar because everyone swarms in there and sets up so early, since there is a 15 minute gap between classes.. Then I go into the change room to put on the bra and change my shoes, and since I have given birth to 3 kids, I always have to pee, went back to class and someone was in my space!!! At first I didn't care, but then I really did. The nerve, eh? I mean GUH! There isn't courtesy setups or anything and this woman isn't new! I was quite pissed at then end of class.
Can you freaking believe it?
Oh, the other hamster escaped last night and I don't know how.
Corinna
jennylea 04-04-04, 07:44 PM Hi Cori! I don't recall ever visiting your journal, how rude of me! I just read your first post on the first page and nothing else except this last one, what is a burpie? (your goals).
Have a good evening! I have no idea what time it is there but evening has to get there sometime! Talk to you later!
jennylea 04-04-04, 07:46 PM We were posting at the same time, did you find the hamster? The nerve of that lady at the gym. I don't feel rude anymore........;) Hope my 60 secs are up (from posting last), typing very slowly..........waiting, making sure. Okay, bye!
Corinna 04-04-04, 07:51 PM jenny - too funny! A burpie is when you're standing up, dropping down into a pushup and then jump back up over and over again. No, didn't find the hamster. This time, the cage was closed, so I am going to yell at the pet store, since it wasn't my intention to get baby hamsters only to have them get out and die.. I've had mice in cages that didn't get out, so something must be wrong.. Not just user error. (I'm in a *****y enough mood these days!!)
