View Full Version : Doing it for me this time!
tryin2lose 03-14-04, 07:37 PM Ok,
I've been here before but this time is different because for the first time I'm losing weight for myself! I am 296 lbs and 5'4" basically I am 50% fat and can't stand my reflection. I am also a realist. I don't ever expect to be a size 7 again but I do want to be healthy. My life has not been bad and I don't have a history of being overweight as a child. I simply allowed myself to become inactive and have a husband who would love me no matter what. About 2 years ago I joined DT and lost about 70 lbs. I lost my way in Oct of 02 and can't seem to get it back. So I have made it my goal to surround myself with reminders of what I want to be. And that means changing these terrible eating habits and getting active again! Iam starting out with eating between 1200-1300 calories per day and walking at least 30 mins. I don't use diet pills and as much as I would love to have gastric bypass I feel like I can do it myself (with the help of you all and my buddy group). I have considered going to OA but we're in a very small town and I worry about being enbarassed. So this is it for now. I will post my stats everyday and be honest to myself because this time it's about ME!:D
Kim
Hi Kim: Welcome back...I know you can do this...but may i make one suggestion without sounding judgemental...Please eat moe than 1200-1300...It is so much easier to go for 1800 I would say to start...my doc has me on a 1600 and you weigh a bit more than I do...so instead of starving yourself...which is easy to do at 1200-1300 try this...I am sure Monica, bird songs and many others would agree with me on this...also use www.fitday.com to log in your food an that will help you keep within your objectives....Fiber is a great filler upper...like good cereal like Kashi go lean......fruits & veggies...I have lost 20 lbs since November...and I am feeling so much better. I do stay away from white flour, cakes cookies etc.. and sweets...I eat whole wheat bread and whole wheat pasta...I allow myself my ff/sf jello instant pudding for my treat....and I have no cravings..
I know you can do this..and I will be around again to see how you are doing....Good for you for coming back.
If you do have an OE in your area by all means go...a meeting is better any time.....Don't be embarased...They are there for the same reason as you..
Hugs
Louise
monicapink 03-14-04, 08:14 PM Dear Kim,
I too want to add my :welcome: back to Diettalk and to your success ....
You know the fact that you have decided to LOSE WEIGHT FOR YOURSELF is a plus ....
Far be it from me to tell anyone what goals they should set for themselves ... but imo if you have a dream to be a size 7 .... SOUNDS LIKE A TERRIFIC LONG TERM GOAL ...
But if I may suggest by going for short term REALISTIC goals ... will keep giving you the incentive :cheer: to move forward.
I agree with Louise (lulu) starting off with calories of 1200 - 1300 would imo serve you better as you get closer to your goal weight.
When I started my weight loss journey (almost 4 years ago) my caloric intake was 1535 ... set up goals for yourself insofar as your nutritional goals ... paying particular attention to your fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate and sodium intake and remember YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT IN A HEALTHY AND PERMANENT WAY . We all want to lose weight quickly .... but if we lose too quickly THAN WE GAIN JUST AS QUICK. BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF .. BE KIND TO YOURSELF .... you didn't gain the weight in a day, week, month or year .. SO KEEP YOUR FOCUS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS GOALS ....
If I can be of any help , I will be happy to listen ... I am not an expert ... (lol well maybe I am an expert on myself) BUT LIKE YOU I AM GOING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND ACHIEVE MY GOAL OF A HEALTHIER AND LONGER LIFE. [/B] Make it a great day. Always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-14-04, 11:31 PM Hey,
Thanks for your commentsd girls and I am going to try to eat about 1500 calories from some of the things I 've been reading I can actually shut my body down by not eating enough! Ironic isn't it?? My goal isn't to be a 7 it's to feel good when I can look in that mirror and see something that doesn't repulse me then I'll be happy. I don't have a set size or weight to that picture in my head. For me it's not a number but a vision of a healthy (not stick thin I WANT curves!):D person with a real body. I am pretty excited that I can picture this at all considering the last time I saw my hips was 10 years ago and I've had 2 babies since then. I am also realistic that some things will not be perfect! I wa snever small in the hips even as a 7 because that's how I am built. But I will be happy to see a shape where there are rolls right now!
My first goal............................. mini goal 10 lbs by May 1st (my 31st b-day)
This seems pretty reasonable to me that's about 1.5 lbs a week. If anyone thinks it should be more/less let me know why I am trying to figure this out as I go and your comments and suggestions are key to helping me find my way!:o Gonna head to bed 5 am walk is coming up quick!
Kim
monicapink 03-14-04, 11:38 PM Kim,
I think that losing a pound to one and a half pounds a week IS REASONABLE AND VERY VERY SENSIBLE ....
I do have a suggestion .... one that I used in the beginning of my weight loss journey ... FOR EVERY POUND YOU LOSE EACH WEEK PUT $1.00 IN A JAR .... FOR EVERY POUND YOU GAIN YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOLLARS ..... when you have reached your mini goal GO OUT AND BUY YOURSELF SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL .... AND SOMETHING FOR YOU AND YOU ALONE ...
As always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-15-04, 09:02 AM Morning,
Well I overslept:( So dog walking will have to wait until after school, I think we'll take the kids to the park and have some fun;) I am seriously considering the dollar idea I had heard of it before but never tried it! My biggest obsticle will be realizing food can't be my reward:down: I love to read so maybe my favorite authors new edition will be my reward instead, Mondays are aleways so busy at work so I am packing a lunch to eat in the lounge so I stay on course. Gonna get the kids teeth brushed so we can get going!
Kim
monicapink 03-15-04, 11:49 AM You know Kim I can remember what it was like to have small children and being so caught up IN THEIR WORLD .... but take this suggestion from someone who knows CHILDREN HAVE A WAY OF GROWING UP .... AND IT IS IMPORTANT imo THAT WE MAKE SURE WE DON'T LOSE OURSELVES
Make yourself a priority .... because WITHOUT YOU WHERE WOULD THEY BE. As always, Monica
Oh Monica: Several years ago...when my husband left me to find himself....I felt very devastated of course....but I did say to a neighbor...I put so much into my husband and family an home and job.......I lost myself .........Here I was a woman of 22...Asst Comptroller in a business......and I allowed MYSELF to be demoted down to working as beneficiary attendant in a Senior's residence for teh next 20 odd years ...always saying well...when the kids are grown I will go back to my career..... never happened...but I did find myself....BUT IT WAS MY FAULT...NO ONE ELSE'S
Monica's words of wisdom have helped me so much....I hope they help you too Kim
Louise
tryin2lose 03-15-04, 06:20 PM Hey,
Today has been AWESOME got a brisk 20 min walk and have had a grapefruit and skim milk for breakfast, 2 slices of bread and 2 oz sloppy jo mix and 10 baby carrots for lunch, diet pepsi and a great big salad with fat free italian for a snack. That leaves me free to have a decent dinner of grilled pork loin and veggies yummy! Ladies thank you for your advice about finding myself, I feel guilty so much of the time that I don't do things for me or buy things for myself because the kids could use the time or money. I think when I realized the key to this was that I have to be in charge and that they won't be here forever and let's face it they need me less all the time! My soon to be 4 yearold will go to school in another year my daughter is already there, DH hads his fire dept buddies and I have you guys. Don't get me wrong I can't do this without ya but I think it's time I have something for me and it's starts with my OA meeting this week. You guys are great thanks for your thoughts. Kim
precious 03-15-04, 08:20 PM Kim,
I too know what that guilt is like . I put my family ahead of my needs but i have changed that by studying for my GED. This is something i can do for my self. I wish you all the luck in the world. I agree with Monica and Louise life goes by so fast. I have a 3 year old and a 11 year old and a 9 year old and it seems like they have grown so fast. Well i am going to go and i will check in again. good luck Kim. Veda:D

tryin2lose 03-19-04, 11:18 AM TGIF
Wow today is supposed to be 80!! Which will make cleaning up the yard a relatively nice thing to do for once! I am making myself some veggies and grilled chicken for lunch while the rest have hamburgers it's just too nice to eat inside. I got in a 30 min walk with the kids and dog yesterday and am planning on another one today, the yard work is gonna work me over too but it needs done! Well need to shower and get ready for my daughter's parent teacher conference it can't be too bad we're only scheduled for 15 minutes so I am optimistic(after all she's only in Kindergarten) OK TTYL
Kim
ivoryrose 03-19-04, 03:37 PM oooooh, wow, I am SO jealous of your great weather! We still have snow here...but at least it's melting. Lunch sounds yummy! Enjoy!!!! -IR
millie47 03-20-04, 04:09 PM Looks like you are doing great with your walking. I love to walk also. I can't wait until it warms up here. I am dying to get out and work in my garden and the sun will seem so good.It has been a long winter for us. keep up the GREAT work! You have come far!
....Your friend .............Millie
tryin2lose 03-22-04, 09:43 AM Wow,
It's Monday and for once it can't be the worst day of hte week that was yesterday!! We went to the grand opening of the new super walmart and as I was checking out hte kids decided they needed hte bathroom. DH took both of them Nate went with John and Aly can manage on her own. As they came out John bent down to button Aly's jeans and Nate took off because he thought he saw me:( Bad news!! We couldn't find him they had to lock down and look for him it took a good 15 mins and he wasn't crying when they brought him back!! I was sooooo scared! Anyway I let that trigger an eating binge and now I am feeling awful so I am trying to keep it together and do better today. Gotta pedodontist visit with Nate today so we'll be taking a 2 hour car ride for a 15 min visit! OK gotta get Aly to school TTYl
Kim
Whew, I bet that was scary to lose your son in Walmart! My little brother was deaf and my mom was constantly losing him....he'd wander off and then couldn't hear us calling him. Sounds funny, but it's really terrifying. She got him a leash. Seriously. A leash. He loved it. Weird little kid! And now he's a weird adult, just like his sis.
Don't worry about the stress eating disaster. We all have them. I've been told the trick is to find something else to do to help deal with the stress. What that is, I have yet to find! I'm trying breathing exercises if it happens at work - unless it's nice outside then I go for a walk around the building. Doesn't happen much at home, but when it does, I exercise.
Keep fighting the fight! You're doing great! :cheer:
Forgot something! As for putting your goals at the end of your post, you can make it part of your signature.
Go to User CP at the top of the DT screen. Choose Edit Profile. You can type whatever you like into your signature section. It will always come up in all your future messages.
Have fun!
tryin2lose 03-23-04, 09:26 AM OK,
Well from the frying pan and into the fire:c( My son who is 3 will need $3300 worth of dental work for teeth that will be falling out! I am going crazy I ate very bad yesterday and am feeling out of control. I am under too much stress and on top of that I have started looking for a job because I need benefits and year round employment!! You ever just feel like throwing in the towel?? That's how bad my attitude is, I know in my head that I can over come this but I am real close to just giving up and wallowing in it for a while:( Ok not such a happy post but I feel a little calmer getting it out there. Thanks for listening.
Kim
monicapink 03-23-04, 11:30 AM KIm,
Our journals are therapeutic for us to vent ....
Insofar as throwing in the towel .... I have felt like that many times and yet something inside of me TELLS ME IF I QUIT I WILL NEVER KNOW IF I COULD HAVE SUCCEEDED .
Life and living is always going to have something ... but if we just take it one day at a time ... one step at a time THE SOONER EVERYTHING COMES TOGETHER.
Just a suggestion .... get out even if it is to the grocery store ... walk up and down the aisles looking at the ingredients on the packages ... imagining what tantalizing foods you can prepare .. OR go visit a friend ...
Keep your chin  .... put a :) on your face and MAKE IT A GREAT DAY . As always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-23-04, 01:04 PM Thanks Monica!
I am trying to keep my chin up and I am doing well so far today! I am at lunch right now and since I'm not hungry just snacking on an orange and some fresh broccoli. I let myself fall into dispair when I look at the big pictureso little steps sounds good to me! Kim
tryin2lose 03-24-04, 09:10 AM Alright I made it through my bout of self pity and am feeling much better. I am packing my lunch and have planned 2 20 min walks during work and a 20 min workout when I get home:D I made it through yesterday without binging and eating the wrong foods:o Monica your right that voice inside is what keeps me going htanks for the advice! OK need t finish getting lunch ready. Kim
tryin2lose 03-25-04, 09:30 AM Ok
Yesterday was good good eating good exercise. Now today! I am setting a goal og 2 20 min walks again and if there's time a workout. I missed that yesterday but the hot tub felt really good on my knee:o I am taking my lunch and yogurt for a snack during my afternoon break today. I seem to get hungry around 2:30 so maybe this will help me fend off abinge at home? OK need to get going.
Kim
monicapink 03-25-04, 01:16 PM Excellent planning Kim  .....
If I may suggest make a trail mix using different Chex Cereals (like Wheat, Rice, Corn), raisins and dried fruit bits ... put it in a plastic ziploc bag and you can munch away when you that you need to eat .... that way you won't binge later ...
Make it a great day. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-26-04, 09:23 AM TGIF!!
OK today we have lunch out, got it all planned we're going to a nice bistro type place that has greek salads, I am ordering a small with cheese and dressing on the side, and asking for fresh veggies instead of bread sticks:D I will get a great work out today because we take our kids swimming for about an hour and a half. We don't do much aerobic stuff because of their diabilities but the student I work with has to be held and helped with arm and leg movement! So at least there will be a lot of resistance:o I am so excited for the weekend I am planning to weigh on Sat and then we'll see how this is going. I am not expecting a miracle I did have a few bad days, but I am getting htere one pound at a time!
Kim
monicapink 03-26-04, 10:55 AM Good Morning Kim,
Looking forward to hearing about your success ....
Remember it takes time and patience to achieve our goals and we are all worth the time and patience it takes. Make it a great day and have and make it a fantastic weekend. As always, Monica
BlueEyez 03-27-04, 09:19 AM Hey gal..............
You been doing very well, good job keep it up. Don't you find that journaling your day makes you feel more accountable? I have a good feeling the scale is going to make you:D . Well ......I'm off, you take care and have a great day!
tryin2lose 03-27-04, 10:44 AM OK hre it goes I'm gonna step on the scale right now, I was up to 303 so let's hope it's down at least 1.........................296.5!!!!!!!!!!:D :D It's working!! I know some's water but it sure is great to see it go down. This puts me back at my original start point I have now lost 6.5 of my 10 lb May 1st goal!! It's so exciting to see these little goals become achievable! Why didn't I do it this way before?? So now that that is out of hte way I have mountains of work, yard work will have to wait it's drizzling out, so it's on to the mount everest of laundry and a sinus pill seems like I'm getting a spring cold! Oh yeak I have to bring the dog back in too he is being naughty and not barking when he needs out so he just goes by the door. Well that's another thing to work on so I better go get some breakfast and get busy!.
Kim
monicapink 03-27-04, 12:26 PM CONGRATULATIONS KIM ON YOUR MARVELOUS SUCCESSFUL WEIGHT LOSS :cheer: WITHOUT A DOUBT YOU ARE MAKING TERRIFIC PROGRESS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM . Make it a great day and have and make it a fantastic weekend. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-27-04, 07:16 PM Oh boy:c(
After a good start to my day the flu bug has hit. I am achy and coughing, sore throat and can't keep anything down! Thank goodness DH id able to help out he's done dishes and laundry!. He and the kids are out for a drive now so I have a little peace:D Well I need to get back to bed.
Kim
Corinna 03-27-04, 08:24 PM Yikes! Feel better soon!
Corinna
tryin2lose 03-28-04, 09:08 AM Wow
What a difference a day can make I feel much better. Does throwing up count as an ab workout?? I am feeling weak but not violently ill. Gonna try some oatmeal and see how it goesDepending on how much energy I have I am thinking about a bike ride with DH and the kids but we'll have to see. OK need to shower and eat.
Kim:D
monicapink 03-28-04, 01:15 PM Kim,
If I may suggest .... you might want to eat something a little lighter than oatmeal ....
With the flu you basically imo you have to drink a lot of fluids ... have Jell-O gelatin ... applesauce .. and gradually add coarser foods ...
Take it easy for the next two or three days .. and get better soon. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 03-28-04, 05:40 PM Hi
Well the oatmeal stayed down but sure made the tummy sore so I had some fat free chicken broth for lunch and will try something smooth for dinner:o Laundry mountain still looms before me so I should get to it if I ever want to see the other side. Kim
Corinna 03-28-04, 06:57 PM I am happy you are feeling better.. Tomorrow you should feel fine!
Corinna
ivoryrose 03-28-04, 10:09 PM Aw, sorry you were feeling crummy Kim! Glad you are feeling better now! Tons of people around here have been sick with the stomach flu... must be going around. Have you tried peppermints? I usually find that they help a little... although it could be entirely in my head. 8-| ha ha You take care, OK? bye bye! :rose:
tryin2lose 03-29-04, 08:58 AM Well
My tummy is better. In fact it was well enough to have oven roasted chicken and veggies last night:D Have a snack for myself today of fat free yogurt and a grapefruit, but not sure about lunch. If it stops raining I'll be out and about for my walks otherwise it will be laps around the gym for the am :( Well I need to get to my budd group. I am really looking forward to my next weigh in, which will be in 2 weeks hopefully I'll see some more good results.
Kim
tryin2lose 03-30-04, 09:11 AM Hey ,
Well I was a little bad and overate with ice cream for dessert but I am adding an extra 40 min of exercise today and Thurs so it should be OK gotta give if you take:D I need to get me some lunch ideas because I only have 1/2 hour break and I find myself trying to get to fast food places. So I'm gonna stock up on some frozen diet dinners so I can reheat htem in the lounge at work and have more time to eat instead of gulp and run:( OK need to go Kim
BlueEyez 03-30-04, 11:55 PM Glad you are feeling better Kim. You are making great progress. Your working out very hard and your eating seems to be following suit. I am so happy for you. Did you ever try the egg beaters?
tryin2lose 04-04-04, 11:47 AM Ok,
I am back but a little beaten :c( We have had acouple trgedies this week in our small town. First 2 of our students were involved in a car crash that killed one and critically injured his 15y/o brother. Then the very next day our local dry cleaner exploded. My DH is a volunteer fire fighter and was right out there in the middle of it for about10 hours. We were shut down half of the town was evacuated, and there were concerns about ground water contamination. So I offer no excuse other than to say I ate poorly. I did continue to walk but I don't expect it to off set the bad food days.
Blue I picked them up but haven't tried them yet. Gonna get fresh veggeis and make an omelet for lunch(if I ever get my grocery list ready)!! OK need to get moving and reclaim my life. Kim
monicapink 04-04-04, 02:20 PM Kim,
Isn't it wonderful that we have the opportunity of taking our weight loss journey one day at a time ...
You know we all have days in which we set ourselves back .... but that doesn't mean imo YOU HAVE FAILED .... BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT LOOKING BACK .... BUT YOU ARE MOVING FORWARD So my friend put a :) on your face and make this day and every day the best. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 04-05-04, 10:04 PM Hey,
Having an out of sinc day! Hate time changes, had a relaxing but strange day wanted to eat and sleep at all the wrong times!! Can't wait to make dinner tomorrow night gonna try grilling portabella mushrooms marinated in a yummy lemon pepper vinagrette. Everyone else gets steak! That's OK gotta keep me happy too right? Ok need to bathe my daughter. Kim
BlueEyez 04-11-04, 09:55 AM Happy Easter
Have a wonderful day with your family.
tryin2lose 04-13-04, 09:24 AM Alright my break is over I'm back and did not gain I maintained!! That is the first time in a long time there was no gain! I didn't eat well but I kept moving so small steps are keeping me going! I have tons of things to do this month so I am going to be BUSY! We have birthdays, concerts, reading party, daisy scouts banquet, I am tired just thinking about it!! OK work is calling Kim
Yumm on the portabello mushroom. Would you post the recipe, I'd love to try it. BTW, good job on maintaining. I think that's just as fulfilling when you've taken a break.
Have a good day.
~Michelle
tryin2lose 04-14-04, 06:27 PM OK here I sit packing some baby carrots to smuggle into the movies so I don't blow it!! I know the kids will want candy and popcorn but I am thinking ahead! Good thing it's dark and loud! My crunching shopuld be minimal!!
Tiva here's the recipe (pretty simple)
1 c fat free italian dressing
1 tbsp garlic pepper (you can use lemon pepper also)
Slice the mushroom into 1 inch strips mix all ingredients in a ziplock and marinate for 20-30 mins. I tried longer but they started to wilt. Then it takes about 5 mins on a hot grill they are soooooo good! I made this up by just trying things next time I'm gonna throw in some red and green bell peppers too.
Well I am haveing a great day and feeling great about myself, I have a hard time giving myself the credit I deserve but today seems to be one of those days where it's a little easier to be nice to me! OK TTYL
Kim
monicapink 04-14-04, 06:42 PM Good planning .....no BETTER THAN GOOD EXCELLENT PLANNING .....I hope the movie was as enjoyable as the weight loss you are going to have. As always, Monica
Hey Kim,
Thanks for the chat tonight. It was kind of fun to think that someone might join my walking club.
It was very encouraging to chat with you, thanks a million. I look forward to getting to know you better.
Thanks again.:D
sophie44 04-15-04, 12:05 PM Hello, How was the movie?
ivoryrose 04-15-04, 05:54 PM Hee hee hee, I like your carrot idea! How funny! So what did ya go see? Was it good?
Have a great Thursday! Iv
tryin2lose 04-16-04, 08:31 AM The movie was great we all loved it. I even ate well and didn't have any candy! Today is a day off from walking cause I wore bad shoes yesterday and my tootsies are killing me not to mention my crampy calves :( I am gonna be a grouchy woman if I don't get a decent pair of tennies soon. Anyone have a suggestion for a good quality pair of walking shoes?? OK really need to shower Kim
monicapink 04-16-04, 02:56 PM Kim,
Make sure they fit properly .... and that they are cushioned so that your feet don't get a pounding ....
Because I am a diabetic I always have to wear SAS shoes .... they are constructed to be cushioned and fit properly across the bridge of your foot ... imo if you pay a little more you get quality. But that is my opinion. As always, Monica
Hey Kim,
HOw are you doing?
Did you get to check out the Chatelaine walking club site? Tell me what you think of it.
Hope to meet up with you again soon, take care.
tryin2lose 04-18-04, 05:13 PM HI,
Well I am retaining water thanks to TOM gonna skip the weigh in because of him.

sophie44 04-19-04, 12:11 PM Hate that TOM!!! So unfair! Hope you had a great weekend.
Must've been the weekend for cookouts, I had one, too. Your food always sounds so good, what is Pico? well hope you have a nice day.
tryin2lose 04-20-04, 09:26 AM Hi,
Running behind today but Tiva pico is a fresh salsa green peppers, tomatoes, onions and a jalapeno chopped up with a tbsp of lime juice YUMMY really good with baked tortillas cut into triangles. OK gotta run Kim
Ah, bummer tryin, I am a canadian so that is why I could register. I have had that happen with some american sites. sorry about that.
So how are you doing with your May 1st goal? Close?

tryin2lose 04-21-04, 09:24 AM Ok,
Today I am going to start back at WW meeting is tonight. I am really excited because a couple of my friends are going so we all can help each other out. May 1st goal is getting close I am 3.5 lbs away hope TOM doen't ruin it! I went for a 2 mile walk yesterday :D and then we had a quiet evening at home. I need to go to the store and get my lunch I am gonna stock up on ww frozen dinners for lunch so I don't have to rush so much in the mornings. Have a great one! Kim
tryin2lose 04-21-04, 05:51 PM Well I survived another day and ate well. Definitely not wanting to weigh in at WW tonite TOM will have his revenge!! But I am looking forward to seeing my girlfriends and getting a good dose of motivation too. OK need to go to walmart.
kim
Pico sounds great. Frozen dinners work well for portion control also. That is my biggest problem, I hate leftovers so I keep eating until there isn't any..haha. It is nice, too to free up some time. Way to go on your May 1 goal, you're pretty much there. Have a nice day & Keep up the Awesome work.
tryin2lose 04-23-04, 06:14 PM Today has been great. Eating has been pretty easy I had a roasted chicken breast sub, no cheese or mayo but lots of mustard and fresh veggies:) After my WW meeting I am definitely seeing my eating as a way to fuel my body and not just something to do with my spare time. What a revelation for me!! I am going walking this evening and have plenty of points left for a healthy dinner and a popcorn snack(fat free butter spray of course!) I could have done better at breakfast but I was in a hurry and had a glass of skim milk and a slice of swiss cheese, not the best but it wasn't a donut! So I guess it's just a step in the right direction and a dayat a timefor me! I may stumble but I won't fail! Kim
tryin2lose 04-25-04, 07:46 PM :o Hey
I made it through my son's party no cake or ice cream!! We ate out at a local mexican place I was good there I ordered a single chicken and cheese quesadilla and a side of rice. I was in my points range all weekend too!! I have decided it is not what program I am on but the reason I want to do this. I am using WW to help me get there but I also am eating real food and doing the best I can . Well we're grilling and I made a package of carrots, celery snap peas and broccoli with my fat free spray as a side dish and I am having a 4 oz burger too :) DH has a new grill and he can do all the cooking from now on! As long as he only uses tin foil  I cheated and peeked at the scale unofficially it's down about 4.5 lbs. I hope that's true! I can't wait for Wed weigh in!! Well I am feeling the need to do laundty since it's as big as Mount Everest! Bye for now Kim
tryin2lose 04-26-04, 09:13 AM Morning,
I am so inspired right now. I haven't felt good about my weight loss journey in a long time but just seeing myself get in control has me determined to keep going. I am preparing a walking map of our small town so that I can track my miles with out having to guess. I never would have cared a month ago! :o Well I need to finish my breakfast and brush my teeth. Kim
tryin2lose 04-27-04, 09:26 AM Hey,
The day is looking very nice here around 80 so I am gonna walk early and beat the heat! I can't wait to get this weight off so the heat won't make me so miserable!! I ate very well ysterday but need to get in more points I had 7 left over and that's too many! So I am adding small things like a slice of low fat cheese or a pat of low fat butter here and there. I also need to plan some snacks because I was ravenous by the time dinner got here last night. We grilled chicken and I ate alot. Bettre get off. Kim
Kim,
Way to go, not only about the loss but the mind state, too. You are doing so well and sound great. Keep it up.
Michelle
tryin2lose 04-27-04, 11:05 PM Hi,
Today was great but I am getting nervous about weigh in. I keep hopping on my scale and wondering if it's right. I don't know if I will make it until weigh in tomorrow! I am following my points and moving a lot more but I am having a hard time drinking enough water and the diet pop andd tea call to me! But I guess slow and steady wins the race and I am not giving in. Better get to bed early day tomorrow. Kim
tryin2lose 04-28-04, 11:46 PM Ok weigh was FANTASTIC I lost 11.8 lbs (mostly water) but it's not on me any more! I treated myself with a movie instead of food. Another achievement for me! I had half of a small popcorn and since I had 24 points left it was OK. Who knew I would be back on the diet track and actually doing well? I had my doubts!
Kim
Kim,
Your loss is incredible, water or not....it's such a motivator to see such results. Kinda keeps you going, huh. I like that you treated yourself (and family) to a movie. That's a great idea to keep the kids supporting you, too.
Well, just wanted to stop in and congratulate you. Have a wonderful day, you deserve it :)
Michelle
tryin2lose 04-29-04, 05:50 PM Thanks Tiva!! It really does help me to have the whole family involved. There's nothing better than a 4 year old food nazi asking you if thats bad food! He does his job very well;).
Kim
Hey Kim,
Well where have I been anyways, it has been ages since I have been here, so sorry.
Sounds like you are doing great anyways!!!!!!!! Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the sound of the 4 year old food Nazi, how cute is that!!!!! Hope he keeps it up. LOL
tryin2lose 04-30-04, 05:49 PM Hey,
Well today has been very good for me and tonite will help me blow off some steam some girlfriends and I are going out for the evening, NO KIDS or DH!!! That's way too exciting. Well tomorrow the big 31 hits and ssince DH wants a cake I told him I wanted angel foos cupcakes and fresh fruit toppings so we'll see if he listens. Well life has been pretty uneven tful around here not much to dicuss. Kim
ivoryrose 04-30-04, 05:58 PM Kim,
I am totally jealous!!!!!!!! I just dearly love those nights away with the girls! You have a GREAT time, celebrate like there's no tomorrow, and you tell DH I will have to kick his bum if he defies my buddy on her low fat cupcake request. :D
Happy birthday!!!! Will look forward to hearing about your celebration.
http://www.buzzstuff.net/archives/happy-birthday.jpg:balloons: Have a good day and enjoy all the attention, you deserve it!!! :balloons:

tryin2lose 05-03-04, 07:18 PM Hey,
well my day was a little off but I didn't let it get me down I ate well, went and joined the local wellness center and even planned a work out after dinner. I am getting anxious for weigh in on Wed. So I have to really apply myself. I made it through my birthday and had a slice of angel food with strawberries and lite coolwhip. I couldn't bring myself to have my traditional birthday margarita Iit just didn't seem worth using my flexpoints! well dinner needs to be started but it will be a healthy one. Kim
Happy Birthday (Belated) Don't worry, Sat. night, I drank enough for both of us....well congrats on your choice of angel food w/ strawberries, that sounds yummy!
tryin2lose 05-04-04, 09:16 AM :c( :c( :c(
I am in muscle agony! Went and sis my workout and found out just how out of shape I really am. My butt, legs, thighs you name it ache and feel soo heavy today! But I'm not gonna let that keep me from getting back there tonight to get in another good one though! Well I know better than to weigh several times a day and I find myself doing it again! I weighed 4 times yesterday and the scales say down 1 lb which is discouraging because it said more a couple days ago! So much for scale hopping! Well need to eat.Kim
BlueEyez 05-04-04, 09:42 AM Hi Kim,
Get out the Ben Gay and I'll help you rub down them sore muscles! I felt like that when I first added strength training to my workouts. OWIE! But it will pass promise :D
Good choice for B'day cake. You are doing fantastic, and as for the scale, don't be to discouraged a pound gone is still a loss so try and look on the bright side kiddo. Possibly you ate something that has made you retain some water? Hang in there with all that added excersise the pounds will start melting off like butter!
sophie44 05-04-04, 10:51 AM Oh, I am afraid to get back into my workouts, its been a long time it seems, my body will be sore too. But in a way it does feel good. As for the scales, don't you hate them sometimes!! I really think they on't play fair, they must have a mind of their own and they LOVE to hear us yell at them!!! Give it hell!!
tryin2lose 05-04-04, 06:31 PM Feelin a lot less stiff now! So happy to be on track and actually seeing progress. I have heard that sore muscles hold onto water can anyone tell me if that's true? Well I really need to get some laundry done and my life is just plain boring right now so there's nothing to report! Kim
Glad to hear that you're less stiff, see you're getting used to it:) Just keep it up. Have a great day.
Michelle
kmsmit3 05-05-04, 01:56 PM Kim, im glad your muscles aren't sore anymore! i never heard about the retaining water thing. let me know if you hear anything before i find it.

Pengwyn 05-05-04, 02:04 PM Hi Tryin2lose - maybe we could buddy up. I too lost 60 lbs, lost focus and the put it all back on, plus a pound or two for good measure! :c( I used to come to DT as Sailorgal but can't use that name now - so I am Pengwyn. I too can't get started. I know I am whining about it and people say forget and move on - but I am truly stuck. For example - today I had good breakfast (oat bran hot cereal, skim milk and 1/2 grapefruit - took the dog for a walk, came home and ate 1/2 tuna sandwich and some cheesies. Did I mention I wsn't even hungry? I'm so pleased and happy for you that you can get back on track. So I;m back here too - looking for a real friend or two and not using food as my friend. I am an adopted only child - so I had no siblings and making friends was very very hard. :c( I just want to feel and look like a real person and not a big fat slob.
Thx for listening.
tryin2lose 05-05-04, 10:39 PM Hey,
Weigh in was great I lost 2 more :) Now that I['m exercising I hope to maybe keep it around 2 a week!
Pengwin- Welcome back first of all!! You are obviously ready or you wouldn't be here. I would love to have you join me here or in your own journal, you may also want to check out my buddy group called Awesome Accountables in the buddy thread. However you choose to post feel free to post how you are feeling good or bad and know there are always people here to lend an ear and give advice and support! I understand about your self image it's hard to look into the mirror and see through all the weight! My goal for myself is to start posting one thing every week I like about my body! OUCH doesn't that sound scary??
So the thing I like about myself is.............................my legs aren't really fat from the knees down :D :D Oh yeah my weekly goal is to get in 180 mins of exercise and stay in my points range!
Kim
tryin2lose 05-08-04, 09:44 AM Well,
Islacked off the past couple days of journaling but I am back and have already got in 30 mins exercise, which is great. I have an early workout planned I usually go in the evenings but it will be early afternoon today, I am curious to see if it makes a difference in my energy level throughout the afternoo. Which is when I am most sluggish! I am doing good points wise but really need to make healthy food choices, instead of pizza hut. I love their personal pan chicken supreme on thin but the sodium really is getting me. So for the rest of hte week it's no added salt and lots of fruits and veggies. Breakfast was cantaloupe and strawberries with a fat free blueberry yogurt! Lunch is gonna be a grilled marinated chicken breast, baked potato, and broccoli. Dinner is unknown at this point haven't made a menu for that part of the week yet!
Ok I am gonna get som housework done.
kim :whip:
BlueEyez 05-08-04, 11:07 PM Hi Kim,
Glad you are enjoying the challenge. I really am too. It is so wonderful to have so much enthusiasim. Makes a body want to push just a bit harder. Sounds like you had a wonderful day with your son. That is GREAT! Enjoy those special times, they grow up so fast. Hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day! I'm off to bed now as I have an early breakfast date with my gang. Take care. Sandi
sophie44 05-10-04, 12:55 PM Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Hope you had a great weekend!
ivoryrose 05-10-04, 06:37 PM Hiya Kim! Your food choices are sounding sooo good! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's day weekend!!!
Hi Kim,
Glad to hear your points are going so well for you. It sounds like you've got WW down pat. Just wanted to pop in & say hi. Have a good one.
Michelle
sophie44 05-17-04, 11:43 AM Hey girl, just wanted to pop in and say hello, hope the weekend was nice for you. Its Monday...yuck!! Take it easy :)
tryin2lose 06-14-04, 06:47 PM Well,
Lats see it's been almost a month since I fell off the wagon and let life run me ragged! I have gained back 6 lbs and stopped exercising. I am out of control and feeling a lot of dispair about it! I am planning a few little changes to get me back the first of which is exercise, nothing fancy just 30-40 mins(depending on my mood) of walking the treadmill of riding the bike. No more junk food crappy salty chipswell you get the idea. They have all been replaced by fruit and veggies, or my favorite pretzles. I am somewhat disgusted with myself that I let this happen I want to be thin and yet somehow I tend to lose it and see the big picture of 130 lbs to go instead of the pounds already gone. I do have a little inspiration to share. I took my measurements and have lost 11 inches over all in the past month :o So maybe just maybe that will help keep me going. I need to get dinner started so I can get to the gym Wish me luck
Kim
BlueEyez 06-15-04, 10:39 AM HI KIM!
WTG! on your determination to get back on board. I am so proud of you for proceeding forward. We all slip up ......... believe me I do..........sometimes alot! But then I just keep going forward again, I know we can all attain our own personal goals if we just stick with it, and remember we are only human and may stumlbe along the way. You are a wonderful example for us all. You show us how to hang tough and give it our all. Thank YOU! Great job on that inch loss and good luck at ww tommorow. Love ya gal! SAndi
GREAT on coming back and getting back on track and also GREAT on losing those 11" :D
Beth :not:
tryin2lose 06-17-04, 10:12 AM OK made it through ther weigh in without any surprises and I am back and ready to kick some fat! We have been so busy running kids around I am having a hard time finding time to work out so DH has agreed to watch them over his lunch hour so I can workout on the days I can't get away to do it in the evening. What aguy! I am journaling everything again and hope that I see progress very soon. I am hopng to have a big loss this week just because when I gain it's usualy a lot of water weight . Well I need to get these kids ready for their day TTYl
kim :o
tryin2lose 06-17-04, 08:21 PM Well,
I made it through may day no diasters and I stayed in points range have 1 left in case the popcorn muchies show up later on tonight! I got my menu planned for the next 2 weeks and got my grocery list made for it, at least this way I will only buy what's written down and there won't be any extras cuz the kids aren't going with me! I hope this will be the key to keeping junk foods out and my grocery bill under control! Time will tell. Kim
sophie44 06-18-04, 01:01 PM Hey T2L~just wanted to stop by and say hello, have a wonderful day! :)
your doing :super: and you have a great plan of attack ! :D
Beth :not:
tryin2lose 06-19-04, 09:08 AM Hey,
Beth thanks for the encouragement!
I am so proud of yesterday! I ate only what I wrote down, made fajitas and measured everything exactly so I new points were right, then I was too full to even have a popcorn snack that I had planned while we watched the movie :) It's days like that that make me wake up feeling like I am fulfilling my dreams of being in control and thin again! So let'smake today another great one and then we'll shoot for tomorrow! :flower: I need to be going but thanks for listening!
Kim
BlueEyez 06-19-04, 09:12 AM Great job Kim, I knew you could do it. :o Hope you have a very enjoyable weekend with your family. BTW love the care bear. Sandi
tryin2lose 06-19-04, 01:57 PM OK,
I've been reading many of your jounalsd here and something clicked in my head. The people who are successfully losing are doing it for themselves, for what the want to become, for the sake of being here in the future for their families ect.. I realized while i say I am doing it for me I am not really sure what that means to me. I think I fell into this trap when I stopped having dreams for myself and just lived life with out any! I would find myself criticizing my DH for his dreams instead of realizing I needed some of my own! The first attemt I had at weight loss was because I was 240 lbs and couldn't get pregnant I was on a 1200 cal diet for 14 weeks lost weight and got pregnant at the same time. Quit the diet ate like mad and never tried to diet again after baby came. Got pg w/#2 gained up to 326 and just keept eating. Then at Christmas I found the unreal determination to lose weight (that was 2001) Dropped from 326 to 255 went to a wedding and never went back to dieting. Then I find myself here and now using WW down from 302.8 to 292 but I was down to 285 gave up for 3 weeks and gained 6 back. So what I am really seaching for is my WHY. I think I need a lot of soul searching to find it. I always wanted to be a teacher, settled for being a preschool teacher becuz it was easier and involved less school. I left that job after 12 years of it and find myself working in the special ed dept of our school. I like it and really think I would be good in a teaching posotion. Now I need to get uo the courage to reinroll and get back to school. I am finding myself making all sorts of excuses for forgetting and I am done Monday it's a trip to our local collegeg and enrollment for me. I hope this helps me continue to stick to my plan. I guess I am doing it for me but its hard to see that when you let life get in the way!
Kim
monicapink 06-19-04, 02:23 PM Kim, I read what you wrote and I believe I understand where you are coming from ....
You know when I was younger (lol in the days of the covered wagon) ... I too fell into the same trap of ALWAYS TAKING WHAT I BELIEVED WAS THE EASIEST ROUTE ... I found that doesn't work .... (at least it doesn't work for me) ....
IMO it's not courage you need .... because imo a coward runs away from life ... YOU'RE FACING LIFE .. GO BACK TO SCHOOL .... AND TAKE COURSES THAT WILL HELP YOU TO HELP OTHERS ... all three of my daughters are professionals .. two are teachers (oldest daughter Laurie teaches High School Spanish .... youngest daughter Jessica teaches Kindergarten/First grade) and one is an attorney (Barrie is a Deputy District Attorney) ... they all did something THAT I DIDN'T DO AND NOW REGRET they completed their education and are going (except for Laurie who has already gone for her Master's Degree) for other degrees ....
Losing weight is imo just one element in your life .. you're doing TO INCREASE YOUR LONGEVITY ... I hope you don't mind my coming and writing this to you in your journal ... I only do it BECAUSE I RECOGNIZE THAT YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL ... don't waste time ....
My father used to say to me that TIME WAS MONEY ... I didn't really think about it when I was in my 20's ; 30's etc. -- because I always felt I had time .. BUT TIME SLIPS BY VERY QUICKLY ..... and I would have to see someone who has so much to offer WASTE TIME .... so my young friend TAKE A STEP FORWARD AND GO AND ENROLL IN WHATEVER CLASSES YOU FIND ARE GOING TO BENEFIT YOU IN YOUR CAREER ... and don't look back YOU'RE COMMITTED TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY .... Keep focusing ON YOUR GOAL. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 06-19-04, 07:37 PM Monica,
Thank you. The truth is I have been hiding and eating helped give me the excuse that I couldn't do it! I realized today that the weight isn't what was holding me back it was just another reason to think I was meant to fail. DH and I talked and I am gonna pick out a couple fun courses to help me finish my associates degree. Then I am gonna pick my major and not turn back!
Kim
monicapink 06-19-04, 08:54 PM Kim I am DELIGHTED WITH YOUR DECISION :jn ...... keep us posted what classes you are taking .... YOU CAN DO THIS KIM ..... As always, Monica
ivoryrose 06-20-04, 01:50 PM Kim,
You DO DESERVE to spend this time and effort on YOURSELF, for you, for your life, and for YOUR health! I think it is just wonderful that you are making this your own focus and your own priority. Good for you!!!!
Congrats on your breakthrough -- one day at a time, you will get there! Rose
tryin2lose 06-20-04, 08:16 PM OK,
Today finds me grouchy and short tempered TOM is here and I am not having a good time of it! I think I am actually making progress in being in control instead of food. The kids aruing would have sent me straight to the chips or whatever and I got up got my mug filled it with water banned them to their rooms and watched a movie. :balloons: Can you drink too much water?? :D I am feeling pretty good about this it's such a small but significant thing for me and I hope to keep making all these little changes as I deal with things instead! Well Dh is grilling chicken breasts and veggies on the grill I need to fold more laundry so I best get going.
Kim
sophie44 06-21-04, 11:45 AM I think its great that your little changes are making you happy, they are working and they are really adding up! TOM sucks, what more can I say, mine is almost here and I am feeling it. I applaud you for getting H2O and drinking up instead of eating!! As for the new Atkins stuff I bought, it is called the Atkins for life kit. It was about 25 bucks, it is a small box kit with recipes, little tips and some other guides. The reason I bought it was for the CD that was included. I need that motivation of hearing and seeing how well others have done on this lifestyle. I liked the idea of putting the cd in my car and listening to it on my way to and from work. I have listened to it twice now, I enjoy it. It just has Dr Atkins speeking on it for a bit about the diet and how good it is, and 3-5 people telling their stories, I can find something from each person I can relate to. How is your Dh oing with it? Still going strong? How much has he lost thus far? I better be off and go check with the AA thread. Have a wonderful day! :) Oh also, I found a few great low carb sites on line, www.lowcarbfriends.com and www.lowcarbeating.com Both are wnderful, have him check those out.
tryin2lose 06-21-04, 01:07 PM Well it's another day and I am still in charge!! TOM can go away any time now and I gotta say won't miss him! :( So far I have 32 oz of water down and 32 to go. Next comes hte weekly walmart workout where I try to shop while herding my 2 kids and retaining the ability to remember my name when we're done! I think i'll survive :) Well need to pick up Aly at swimmimg lessons shortly so I need to be off.
Kim
sophie44 06-22-04, 01:44 PM HAHA I love the walmart workout!!!! That is so funny! Do you have a big walmart or is it the standard size one? WOW, I bet you burn TONS on cals doing that workout!! So glad to see your still in charge, TOM hasn't taken over. Have a wonderful day! :)
tryin2lose 06-22-04, 07:28 PM Today is another great one. I am off of caffiene totally!! :) :o I am getting in 148 oz of water daily and can feel the difference! I have weigh in tomorrow wishing for 6 to erase my mistake hoping for 3! I really should wear my pedometer to Walmart and see how many miles I walk! It's a new super center and nothing is in an order that makes any sense! toilet paper and paper towels aren't even in the same aisle!! Well that's all for now
Kim
Wow, off caffeine, that is awesome KIm. That really is good. I soooo need to do that. Grrrr.
Your stats are really moving, good for you. Keep up the good work.
tryin2lose 06-23-04, 10:05 AM Hey
Quick Hi before I'm off I have a big challenge of eating out and sticking to my diet resolve so wish me luck. Weigh in is tonight so I'll be back with my entire day accomplishments after that!
Kim
tryin2lose 06-24-04, 11:05 AM OK
Weigh in was AWESOME!!! I lost 5 which gets me back to where I needed to be to keep moving down! And I ate out ate well and didn't cheat so that's another victory  Today startsd a new week with a new goal I have really slacked off on the exercise and have come to realize I need a balance of everything so it's up to me to get in 3 days this week each 40 mins. I try to go gung ho into everything and I need to ease into them to be able to stick to it. I finally really understand I didn't gain it over night and am not gonna lose it over night either! DUH!! Well here's to another terrific day ;) Kim
monicapink 06-24-04, 11:58 AM Good Morning Kim,
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PHENOMENAL FIVE POUND LOSS ... :cheer:
You are so right ... we didn't gain our weight in a day, week , month etc. SO AS LONG AS WE LOSE IT THAT IS WHAT MATTERS NOT THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TAKES. You're moving forward  Make it a great day. As always, Monica
tryin2lose 06-24-04, 12:45 PM Thanks Monica. You would think that would be obvious to me but it wasn't  Todays lunch is unknown at this time tired of baked potatoes, wanting something new but not sure what. I am finding hard to plan a meal when I am not hungry. I menu plan but it is usually dinners and lunches for the kids and John. Dinners are always low fat so I can eat with them but they enjoy higher fat foods and I don't feel like I can deprive them of their favorites because I have a weight issue. everything they eat is balanced but not necessarily what I should have. So I have a luncj dilemma, I used to use frozen meals but they became a crutch and they're not cheap either! So I am gonna have to search my fave recipes and maybe cook a lot and freeze in portions?? We'll see haow motivated I get today.
Kim :)
ivoryrose 06-24-04, 04:13 PM Congrats Kim!!!!!!!! You are really on a role and it's GREAT!!!! :dc You sound like you are feeling good and ready to take on the world. :D
Congratulations, Kim! 5 pounds is awesome!! You're off to a really great start...... just take it a day at a time and you'll definitely keep on going in the right direction.
As far as lunches go or any meals for that matter, try browsing some of the journals that post their menu's to get some ideas of different things to eat. That's what I did and it really helped.
Take care and good luck to you! You are doing great!
sophie44 06-25-04, 12:14 PM WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Next step exercise which is my weekly goal. WW is really helping keep me accountable for every bite which can be a bit intimidating sometimes! well kids want to ride bikes if I'm not out there they'll be in the street TTYL

tryin2lose 06-27-04, 06:35 PM HI
The weekend brings stress of a different kind We are reroofing our house :c( Fortunately our neighbor does it for a living so 1 of the 10 beer drinking men know what they're doing out there!! So far the only thing I see is a lot of shingles and trash, they got one side of the upstairs shingled then decided to remove all of the rest!! Hiding inside with my books and pretzles has been my sanity today! I have had a good weekend stayed in points range and hoping to be lighter come Wed. Well the noise has stopped so that means somethings going on! TTYL
Kim
ivoryrose 06-27-04, 07:11 PM oh good grief. home remodels/repairs are stressful to begin with...now add sweaty beer drinking men? hmmm. I sympathize! ha ha Maybe YOU should be the one drinking the beer!!!!! ha ha ha Well, hey, at least THEY are willing to be out there in the heat doing that so you can be inside. Sending you good vibes to RESIST the urge to comfort snack. :D
Hey Kim,
You are doing so well, good for you. Just over 40 pounds, what a thrill that must be!!!
Hang in there!!!
BlueEyez 06-28-04, 10:24 AM Hi Kim,
You are doing fantastic. I am so thrilled to see you working so hard again. I just knew you could do this. Good luck with the remodeling............. :o Can't wait to hear about your progress this week.
tryin2lose 06-29-04, 12:32 AM Hi,
Another great day in the food dept. Can't seem to make myself exercise! :c( Gonna have to set a routine and stick to it religiously or else!!! Took Dh and kids to see HP 3 I had already seen it but loved it so much it was worth a second showing! Thought I was gonna eat some popcorn w/out the butter I had 5 points left just for it, but when I tried to eat it it was too salty and I couldn't :D so instead I popped a couple sugar free breath mints and allowed myself a diet coke (first one in 3 weeks) sooo good! I am pretty excited for Wed weigh in I am not expecting another 5 lb loss but I am pretty sure it'll be 2 anyway! Roof isn't finished they decided it was too hot today! It was 75*!! MEN! Tomorrow I am taking the kids to the public pool for a change we usually swim at home but right now the back yard is off limits due to the shingling disaster, I must get then out of hte house or have myself committed(which would be like a vacation!) I just realized that if I can pull off a 1 pound loss this week I'll be at 40 lbs! hope to see the 270's soon too though.
Well I have to get up early tomorrow so off to bed with me! TTYL
Kim
tryin2lose 07-01-04, 12:45 PM Hey,
Been neglecting my journal this week but I have been good, at weigh in last night I dropped another 4 pounds and missed my July 1st goal by .2 of a pound! You talk about frustrating! It's OK I lost and now I need to focus on the exercies part still struggling with that and I know if I don't get into it my losses will slow way down which I don't want to happen, I burned some songs fromitunes that pump me up to listen to while I work out I am thinking about doing 1 more so I have a variety to work from. Well I am off to get Aly from wherever she is today! TTYl
Kim
tryin2lose 07-05-04, 09:23 AM Hey,
Well I didn't do too bad over the weekend I used a few flexpoints on bad things, choc cake ice cream and baked chips but I also stayed in range the other days so Wed will tell me if I should use flex or not! We had a really nice 4th here until it rained but thankfully it was late and we were about done! Well all my housework is calling to be done since I didn't do anything this weekend :( TTYl
Kim
tryin2lose 07-06-04, 11:06 AM Good Morning, I am finally out of bed and ready to go today got a small workout in which is a big deal since there haven't been any for over a month! The scales aren't showing a gain I hope it holds throgh weigh in tomorrow! I am going on vacation the second weekend in august so I am setting a goal of 10 pounds for then starting with this weigh in! Looks like I need a little sweating action if I'm going to make it! And I AM going to make it! well housework and grocery shopping need to be done
Kim
tryin2lose 07-07-04, 11:54 AM Well,
Yesterday was a good day ate well and got in a 30 min workout so that's slowly making progress it looks my overindulgences may leave me uo a pound not sure yet but tonight is weigh in so we'll see. I am disappointed because I knew not to eat those things and did anyways. Well I can only go on and do better this week right? On the workout front right now I am walking for 10 mins biking for 10 and elliptial for 10 then walking for 5 as a cool down. Does this sound OK to all you exercise pro's otr should I be sticking to them for a longer period of time? It seems to help keep me from getting bored while I'm there. OK need to unload the dishwasher so TTYL
Kim
tryin2lose 07-07-04, 09:57 PM Well weigh in was good I lost 1.2 which brings me to 21 lbs since I started back at ww I have 9 left to get to my Aug 14th goal so now is when the exercise will become a vital part of my weight loss now I need to just get up and do it! Need to get things picked up. TTYL
Kim
Kim, way to go on your recent weight loss !!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer:
I am by NO means a exercise pro - you may want to re post your question in the exercise forum so it gets seen by more people :)
Beth :not:

tryin2lose 07-12-04, 10:13 AM Well I took a stumble on the road to eating healthy but I am still going on the right path. I hope to keep on track for a long time now my last goof up was 4 weeks ago so I am OK with it (not happy but OK) I am sticking to my exercise routine as it is for right now I am enjoying it and that's saying A LOT for me! Well the kids are playing for the kittens and need breakfast so I best get them fed!
Kim

sophie44 07-14-04, 12:40 PM Just wanted to stop in and wish you the best at your weigh in!!
tryin2lose 07-15-04, 10:15 AM OK weigh in was a wash I used my skip the scale pass but I don't feel too bad feeling better is a huge step in sticking to my plan, Today wil be an active one gonna strap on the pedometer and go school shopping in the mall for Aly then I have a workout and then start marking things for the yard sale this weekend  So it's fair to say I'll be busy. Ok need to get a shower and head out TTYl
Kim
way to go on increasing your activities :)
beth :not:
Hi, stopping by to wish you the best this week. I see you are also from NE! :) Ahhh they good life! How is the pedometer working for you? I could never get one to work properly. Have to jiggle. Gee, you would think I jiggled a lot, now wouldn't you!! Just did some school shopping with my two boys. Only 1 mo. left and then off we go. I am a teacher, so that means me, too.
tryin2lose 07-22-04, 11:57 PM All right it should be obvious I haven't been here which is a BAD SIGN. Managed to gain after letting myself eat anything in sight for two weeks and put on 8 lbs!! So I am picking up my bigger fatter butt and getting back to work! I am sick of making progress then losing it, can they prescribe electric shock therapy for eating the wrong things?? Ok beds calling me TTYL
Kim
Ok, Kim,
Good for you, you got back, you are getting back on track. Now just let the past two weeks go, it is gone and feeling bad won't bring it back or make it better. So press ahead, think of all the good things you are going to do for your body, whoohooo!!!
Glad you are here, hang in there.
Good that you are back and focused. Some weeks are just more CHALLENGING, I say. The electric shock might work if we put in on our fridge to ZAP us at certain times of the day. Hope you have a great weekend. Sometimes they are the hardest.
sophie44 07-23-04, 11:13 AM Well T2L you know that I am here for you along with the rest of the AA's! We can all help each other do this. Stay focused on your goal. You can do it, make this weekend count!!
you have not failed until you quit trying :)
Beth :not:
tryin2lose 07-23-04, 05:25 PM You guys are great. I am doing good and have a plan for exercise and food for the weekend. It is harder because DH and kids like to eat out, I am going to eat my meals and let them get carryout so I won't torture myself. Thanks
Kim
tryin2lose 07-24-04, 08:50 AM Guess what?!!! The let's grab something to eat bug hit already! And I was strong and waited until we got home made some fish and ww mac & cheese :o I finally feel like I am in the swing of things again. Now I have to formulate a plan of action for when I feel like falling off the wagon. Any ideas? I am the kind of person where it is all or nothing cuz routine in dieting is my lifeline! HELP
Kim
tryin2lose 07-24-04, 10:22 PM well another another pound gone :o I am finding it easier to stick to a plan when I write it out for myself. I hope to be back down to 281 by vacation in 3 weeks so I have a lot of work ahead of me! Well dryer just buzzed so morefolding for me :c( TTYL
Kim
Great about 1 lb gone :cheer:
Beth :not:
tryin2lose 07-25-04, 08:53 AM Morning,
Well I am not sure where I went wrong but sometime I got a lot of sodium cuz I am swollen big time gonna have to go back and look :eyes: I go ton the scales and WOW they say 285 not sure how accurate that is but if it's right I only have 4.2 of the 8.2 I put back on left to lose! I got in a gallon af water yesterday but had some 94% fat free popcorn and I bet that's where all this bloat is from. I have to be really careful abou tit too much and I look like the michelin man  Well I have to get DH breakfast before he heads out and then the hooligans will want fed and then I'll need fed LOL Ok need to move it. Kim
tryin2lose 07-26-04, 09:02 AM Good Morning! :flower:
Well today the scales are being even nicer and are down a total of 6 lbs! I am pretty sure they aren't acuurate but when they go down so do the ww scales!Right now my body is in a state of shock since we went walking last night it was confused usually my walks are couch-fridge-bathroom-couch  well I bought a new digital camera and as soon as it arrives I'll be spending even more time out and about taking pictures so more movement is forthcoming! Well need to get going TTYL
Kim

Kim
tryin2lose 07-29-04, 08:26 AM Ok
weigh in was better than expected I lost 8.6 which was all I gained and an extra .4 so I am feeling confident I am still on trtack to meet my mini vasation goal of 25 lbs and my 10 lb Sept 1st goal. Sophie you said it!! I am feeling really good about losing weight and keeping it off. I think that the last gain made me stop and think, I also am tired of being the typical yoyo that I want to see progress!
well I am trying to get things done before veryone gets up dishwashers a washing already! TTYL
Kim
tryin2lose 07-30-04, 06:32 PM Needing a snack diversion so here I Come to ramble. The day has been good so far and I am induging in a chicken teriyaki sub for dinner tonight MMMMM. tryin2lose 09-08-04, 07:07 PM OK I am still alive but happily there's a little less of me here;) I have been running ragged these past weeks and this week and next seem to have me doing more of the same. I am going to try to get myself some me time to be here but you know how it goes!
Kim

brandon ~o)
So happy to see your hanging tough! :cheer:
Beth :not:
tryin2lose 10-08-04, 08:52 AM Ok I should start a new journal but my time being what it is anymore we'll keep what we've got. I am trying to get my priorities back in line and that means a little me time no matter what!!I am weighing 279.8 right now :c( I was down to 276.2 so I it's time to remember the big picture. I am going to get to 270 by Halloween if it kills me and it won't!! Well I need to eat my breakfast.
kim
tryin2lose 12-28-04, 07:28 PM Ok Old journal but a new start.
Starting up again is pretty common for me this time I am finally able to handle my own thoughts and feelings so now feels like the right time to get a healthy lifestyle. Weight watchers, exercise OA and DT are going to be my supports along with my sister at WW and my friend for work outs. My goals are going to seem pretty minimal to many people but they will be pretty significant to me and I will only add a new one after I have I maintained it for 6 weeks. I am also avoiding the pounds issue for goals for now. I am so overweight that it's going to come off as long as I move and eat less than normal. My first 2 goals are 64 oz water a day and exercise 30 mins 4 times a week. I am going to start with walking for 30 mins a day for the first week and we'll see how I feel after that, my Dr suggested I add 30-60 secs of fast walking or light jogging after the first week so it would be 5 mins walking 30-60 sec jog for 30 mins. Right now that 30 secs looks like a mountain to me. My anxiety and depression meds are helping to control my compulsive eating but that will probably be an issue I fight for a while. I am allowing myself to have some kind of a snack when I crave it (1 a day) I know it should be something healthy but for right now it can be anything in a REASONABLE serving amount until I am able to cut them out for better foods. Ok enough rambling tomorrow will be my first meeting since I quit WW and my sis is coming to go with me. I'll report how it goes later. Kim
Happy to see you back :)
Beth :peace:
tryin2lose 12-29-04, 09:05 AM Well to help me on my way I have joined the Bootcamp!! I can't wait to see how this helps my support system!

tryin2lose 01-03-05, 08:49 PM Today has been good I fought off the pop demon and chewed alot of sugar free gum instead  I did break down and have a peanut butter sandwich tho X-( more fat in that than I realized. Gonna go look for some low fat if it exists. Well need to post in Boot Camp TTYL
