My first day here, and I know I'll be here a lot now! March 16th is kind of a random day to start a journal but oh well!
First, let me tell you a little about me, fio!
I'm 26 and a mom of 2 - a three year old boy and a 7 month old girl. My husband is almost 30. We're all pretty active and as we have no car we walk a lot.
My diet history? Well, I had a bout of bulimia ten years ago for two years. Since then I've been on and off dieting, but never to that point. Right now I would say I'm at my most healthy state, mentally and physically. Lately I've been running a lot and eating pretty healthfully, BUT i tend to binge every once in awhile (no purging or anything) and I have a weakness for anything chocolate, especially baked goods. Drat those bake sales! I'm a student (animation), but I'm graduating this summer, and I still have no idea what i'm going to do with my life!
My goal is to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, but to also get that bod that I DIDN'T have when I was 16! More later,
FIO

thanks for the warm welcome!
well. day 1 of the 21 day challenge...
i drank lots of water, but i ate a little chocolate...:(
otherwise i did great...i even stopped myself from eating too much popcorn by saying out loud to my husband that i wasn't going to have anymore and i brought out baby carrots to munch on instead. it's amazing, they actually TASTED better and had a more satisfying texture. i should think of more good foods like that. also, i realized how much i can manipulate a situation so that i have less temptation..(likewise i can just as easily manipulate it so that i have ample opportunity to eat)...such as asserting to someone else that i'm not going to eat anymore [popcorn], bringing alternative snacks, deciding before i go into a store that i don't need to buy anything...
the one problem i had today is that i did kinda get hungry, and so when lunch time came around i was very close to stuffing myself with popcorn. also by the time it was supper, i also ALMOST overate...mostly iot was that i was eating too fast.
SO, this tells me i need a couple more healthy snacks. better figure out those!
BTW, i'm in love with vitasoy light vanilla!
tomorrow i run, and i have to figure out which yoga class to take.

today was okay. I seem to always want to stuff myself after ds wakes up from his nap, yesterday it was the popcorn, and today it was tortilla chips. I should have on hand some healthy snack foods. I did switch over to the carrots again today, but i can already see that i'm going to be bored of these soon. I'm about to go surf the net to see if i can find a good list of healthy and non-boring snacks.
i ran today too, but it was so windy! I did get a list of upcoming running events, i think i will do one soon. my friend came over to visit and she's so tiny, i definitely felt inspired to do better around her. I think i need to put pictures of thin people up in the kitchen. does that really work though? tomorrow is about stocking up on healthy foods!

i kinda went nuts on the snacking again today. i really have a problem controlling that! i even had cookies, and a few bite sized pastries. the problem here was, we walked for 4 miles to the grocery store with the two kids (we don't have a car), and by the time we reached it, we were starving, so we bought all kinds of snack foods, and then we ate there too. on the way home we ate and ate, and then when we got home, we had all these new groceries which we just ate and ate. this could have all been avoided if 1) i brought a snack on the way to the market, and 2) if i had prepared myself for having new groceries but not being tempted to eat all of it right away, especially since we're running low on our grocery budget.
but we did walk there and back, so that's good.
tomorrow i run again, if my knee feels a little better.

Giving up snacking has been hard for me these last 2 weeks. I'm combating it with sugarfree gum (minty kinds that don't make me hungry) and lots and lots of herbal tea. I'm telling you, I must drink 4 cups of tea in the evenings. Night time has always been the worst for me. Just sitting around with DH, watching tv or playing a game....always brings on the munchies. Luckily, he's trying to kick the habit too, so we've BOTH been inhaling herbal tea! Makes us pee a lot, but it's worth it!

Great job on 3 days!
