Hi Guys , I have not been around for awhile , I've been going through some personal stuff and was not sure I would be well enough to continue with this part of my life , but have come to realize I am stronger that I thought and through the grace of God I've been ok so far . Enough about that .

Time to get back in control and make this work . So my plan is to exercise 4 -5 times a week , depending on energy levels , that will determined the amount of time , but even on my bad days , I will do some streaches.

Food of course will be nothing white . I do plan on eating carrots and corn with some kind of protein with it . I just love them and they do have so many healthy benifits .

The other night I was really craving something sweet , so I almost had a couple of cookies , but then I remembered I bought oranges for my girl and decided to have one . Boy did it taste good ! I cannot remember the last time I allowed myself one . So I will try to have a nice piece of fruit the next time I crave something sweet and not worry about the time of the day I'm eating it . Hey it's better than that chocolate I have every so often . I will also allow myself a small amount of popcorn one night a week .

Well thats my plan . Now I have to put it in action .

10 baby carrots / tsp ranch lite dressing

1/2 cup cole slaw
1/2 dinner bun
1 smart scoop low carb ice cream bar

I have to take medication at 8:00 pm every night with food , so I'll have some almonds before taking it .

I had another wonderful day with hubby and my girl , we went to our camp ground and had a picnic and just walked around . I really enjoyed it . Now I'm off to do some housework and call it a night .

Hi!! i'm kelly. i wanted to say your menus look great. i wish i was able to eat like that. i'm so bad at eating healthy it's on of my personal goals. that and exercise more! I can't to watch your progress!

Hi Kelly , I was doing the low carb before and did well , but I was missing so many foods , so I am now trying to just eat healthy and cut out sugar and white flour . Plus my 3 1/2 yrs old is now eating more fruit and veggies cause she is seeing me . I'm sure you'll get there , just remember it's all about choices .

I had a great day with my girl . We went to the firehall with her preschool and it was so amazing watching all their little face , they where so excited .

I was a little sore and had a headache all night , so I had to push myself to do some sort of exercise today , but I did have a little rest today and it made all the difference . :D

I had another good day . Although I have noticed it is harder for me to get through my workouts , I have to really push towards the end . But I am determined to keep up with it , I can only imagine what my energy levels would be like without the exercise .

We went to my girls best friends birthday party , 4 yrs old , I can hardly believe my girl will be next turning 4 . I'm just not ready for her to grow up so fast . :c( I am so blessed that I am able to stay at home with her and enjoy her .

Well I spent most of my calories at Wendy's , but it was worth it ! It was a great burger . :o And I'm still not hungry .

Today was good , we went to Wendy's for a Birthday lunch and then me and my girl went to the park . It's early evening here so I'm off to take my girl for a bike ride . :) Energy was pretty good today and mood was good also .

I had a great night last night , no side effects from the meds . I pray my body continues to accept them .

Hi Summering, tks for visiting my journal. Yr menu sounds yummy & really healthy. Be proud that you are eating well, compared to mine. I'm not eating too healthy but I try to keep it to eating less. It does help but I have to really eat very little carbs. Been looking for some fruits but they didn't look too good in the stores. Keep up the good job & have a great weekend!

Hi Ivory , thanks for the healthy thoughts . I am on medication and it does take it toll , but I find if I exercise it helps with energy for my girl . :)

I'm afraid my menus have not been to healthy lately , so I'm going to focus on eating less fast food . :o

I had a really great day , went shopping and actually bought some jeans that I thought I could not possibly fit into , but I did . :D

My girl gave me her Mothers Day gift she made in preschool , she was so proud . I got a card with a tea bag , because her card says I deserve a tea break , plus a potted flower . :flower:

Hubby has been amazing with me , I am truly blessed !

Where can you get flax bread? and low carb ice cream? So many things people mention in their journals we can't get here in Canada, so I'd like to hear you get your stuff. Thanks;

Hi Pat , yes I do live in BC , and you can get the low carb ice cream in most supermarkets here , the flax bread I buy is made by Silver Hills , very healthy bread , it is organic so you may be able to get it at a health food store , I can get it anywhere here , but it is also made here so maybe thats why it is easier for me . Good luck ! :)

Well I have not posted my menus this weekend , and I did over eat and no exercise , I really need to buckle down tomorrow .

I am taking exercise easy as I am on antibiotics for ear, throat infection .

I had such a wonderful day planned for my girl and I , but low and behold woke up to a case of chicken pox ! :tomato:

Tomorrow is a new day and a new beginning , and I plan on making the most of it !

Sorry to hear that you have chicken pox - you or your daughter? I've never had chicken pox .. I hear you need to put a lot of camomile lotion on your body so it won't itch so much and for us chinese, we don't take any chicken or soya sauce. Do take care.

Aw, Summer, I am so sorry you are having to deal with chicken pox!!!!! You poor dear. Now is is you or your baby girl who has them? Well, either way, at least once you get them you aren't supposed to be able to get them again. It seems like once they go to school they bring all kinds of bugs home.

Well I did get some cleaning done , not as much as I had hoped to do , but considering I'm trying to keep my girl busy aslo so she does not scatch I guess I did alright .

I am really looking forward to exercise tomorrow . I hope to go to bed early tonight and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed . Somehow I think I may be uo applying camimile lotion , actually she's been very good and not scratching much . My poor baby is just covered , in her mouth , her eye lids and other areas that must be very uncomfortable . She is such a sweetie and has not complained once .

Well I'm off to give her a baking soda bath and try to get some more cleaning done . :flower:

Well I did not get in my exercise as planned , so will have to make a better effort tomorrow ! :o

My girl is feeling much better now , her chicken pox are now crusted over and she is not itching . :) They look so bad though , I forgot how they look and to see my little girl covered in them breaks my heart . :c( She however is fine , they just look so painful , but she says they're not .

The big plan tomorrow is to move my butt , I have to get it done in the morning or I really have a tough time doing it .

Hi Summering, I'm sure it's no easy task taking care of your little girl, esp when she is ill. You're such a good mom, I can tell that you love her so much. Just keep on eating right 'cos u can still lose weight w/o exercising if you eat right.

Well my girls body is healing nicely , but we just got back from the doctors and she has quite a few in her mouth that will take longer to heal , my poor baby is having such a hard time eating . But she has been so good about it , she truely amazes me ! :)

Now about me , well what can I say other than I better work off that bananna bread tomorrow , I still have 1/2 a loaf , so I imagine I'll be snacking on that tomorrow also , better have a good workout !

Saturday we are heading down to the coast so I won't be posting my menus , but my sister in laws are very health concious .

Anyway I had a real good day with my girl and some friends , one of those days you really don't do anything but cherish it .

I love eating pasta with cream sauce too but I try to restrain from that .. sometimes, it's good to take a break and eat the stuff you truly love to eat. I think it's still ok .. u just eat less of it and honestly speaking, I've been doing just that .. eat some deep fried food / carbs ... but stop when I'm full or practice control & eat just a little. That way, I won't feel so guilty or worry abt the weight gain after ...

That turkey sandwich sounds yummy tho I'm not sure how flax bread tastes like. I've stopped eating cookies 'cos we've been told that it's empty calories. I've bought it several times and always end up not eating it when I think of the weight gain ... I ate a little brownie last week and felt guilty even tho it was very little ... do u get this too?

Hi ChinaDoll , it's so funny you should say that about the cookies as I was just thinking I need to give them up for that same reason !

So basically that where I'm at , I need to cut the empty calories and get focused . It hard with this medication as I have to eat small meals through out the day with lot's of little snacks or I feel awful . So this has been a new way for me to eat and I have gotten of track by grabbing a cookie here and there to keep me going , have to make better choices !

So today my girl and I made a huge batch of veggie , lentil soup , which was lot's of fun . It was raining here today and although I was not feeling the best , me and my girl went out and played in the puddles . I felt so much better after . :)

Well I'm off to read some journals and then read my girl her bedtime story and then my time to read . :D

Healthier choices starting tomorrow ! :flower:

I know it must be difficult esp with the medication (does it make you hungry all the time?) ... sometimes I feel like I eat a lot .. if you love to eat nuts, it's a good snack that fills you up! I drink diet sodas all the time - when I crave for something sweet ... but I noticed lately that I can only take 1 can a day. Eat yr fave veggie .. I've discovered that I love eating stir-fry broccoli and broccoli is very filling after eating 10 small pcs or so .. once I start eating, I can't stop and before I know it, I'm getting too full to eat anything else. By the way, I eat that for breakfast .. good to know that you start off the day eating something light! But I see that you're doing a really great job eating healthy! You'll be ok as long as you enjoy what you eat.

I still stare at cookies esp oatmeal & raisin cookies (the healthier choice that I allow myself to eat) but when I remember how I'll end up leaving it on the counter for show & not to eat, I stop myself from buying it (I can say I haven't eaten a cookie for at least 2 months but I had half a brownie last mth).

I spent the day cleaning my balcony and doing houswork , so I am not looking forward to the aches tomorrow .

Unfortunately todays food started off really good , but then we had a kids party at McDonalds and although I know I could have made a healthier choice I had a Big Mac , I did however take out the middle bun , think that counts ?

Tomorrow I plan on doing my 3 miles , cleaning and laundry . I don't have to be anywhere till early evening so I hope to get thinks done , plus play time with my girl . If it's raining I guess we'll do bubbles on the balcony and some crafts .

Hi Summering, tks for dropping by my journal. That's great that you removed that extra bun in between .. it does help a lot and really, you won't get to miss it. I try to remind myself to eat more veggie/protein and less rice/noodles .. that's the way to go .. but sometimes, when you haven't had carbs in a while, you just have to binge and get it out of your system. I try to eat less bread too but sometimes, I can't help it either. You're doing great - that cleaning on the balcony - bet you burned a lot of calories doing so!

Well I had an amazing weekend . My 3 1/2 yrs old daughter had her first big Ukrainian dance festivel . They looked adorable ! :) I had the job of helping to liik after about 15 little ones . Helping to get them on stage and fix their costumes . And of couse I beamed like all the other proud Mommy's .

I'm afraid I have to slow down on the cardio , I just cannot seem to do it with this medication I am on . I was getting some serious hip pain also from the meds and was in tears yesterday , I thought I was going to have to cancel the dance for my girl , but I did my Pilates tape and was fine ! I just pray that it continues to work . So for exercise I am going to try to alternate Pilates and Yoga and see how that goes .

Hi Summering, sorry to hear that your medication is causing you pain .. have you seen the doc concerning this? The Ukrainian dance festival sounds interesting .. wish I could be there to see it! I'm sure your daughter looked really cute & sweet on stage! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi ChinaDoll , yes I spoke to my doctor and knew all this before treatment . It's just something I have to deal with . The dance festival was wonderful ! :)

Today I started back on phase 1 of the South Beach . I did really well and hope cutting the sugar will also help with the medication . I remember how great I felt when I did this the last time and if it can help then I really need to do it .

I am staying away from fruit for the 2 weeks , but I will allow myself some carrots as long as I have protien with them .

For exercise I will do what I can , and stop feeling like it's not worth it because I can no longer do what I use to do . I need to be more forgiving to my body right now and stop making demands that only end up causing me pain and disappointment . I really thought I would handle this treatment better , but I guess I need to face reality . I just worry about that fine line of givng up and blaming it on how I feel . It would be so easy to lye on the couch and watch the world go by , but it's not fair to my family and I know I would feel even worse .

So with a little help from my friends , I know I can do this . :)

Well I have not done my 2 miles yet but I thought if I wrote it I'd be more inspired to do it . :)

Today is day 2 for me . I am actually feeling pretty good , so I'm going to make the most of it . I have to stay home today as my medication is being delivered , but I will fill the pool for my girl and we will do some crafts today . Unfortunately we do not have a backyard so I have to think of other things for her when we have to stay home .

Tomorrow she is having a Teddy Bear Picnic at a local park with her preschool and I am one of the parents helping out , so I'm looking forward to that .

Here is my menu plan :

coffee / splenda / cream
eggs / becel
v8 juice
nuts
chicken salad roll up
veggies / dip
turkey pepperoni
marble cheese
peanuts ( too many )
sugarless jello
sugarless chocolate
chia tea / splenda / skim milk
a gallon of water

Well I did my 2 miles and added Pilates ! :flower: Had a great day with my girl and am looking forward to tomorrows Teddy Bear Picnic ! :)

Hi Summering, how was the Teddy Bear Picnic? Sounds like great fun!

I was just remembering when I cut out all sugar and started using splenda .. and now, I take regular coffee w/ sugar but just a little .. and found that it doesn't affect my weight loss as long as I don't overeat. What I'm trying to say is that just remember that it's alright to take in sugar sometimes. But I must admit, soft drinks now taste too sweet for me tho I still drink a little ice lemon tea and of cos COFFEE! :ex:

Hi Summer!

I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling with your meds. That is really so tough. Will these meds be a short course of treatment or something you need to keep taking for an extended period of time? Either way, keep up the good fight, my friend. The harder you struggle, the more sweet the reward. And, perhaps you could think of it this way, you will live each day and it will pass either way, so you might as well continue to work toward a healthier, stronger YOU! I'll bet your little one was ADORABLE at her dance recital!!! Enjoy your teddy bear picnic! You'll want lots of pictures of that. :D
