A friendly Hello to everyone!!! :wave:

Now, for an introduction.. I have been battling with losing weight after pregnancies for nearly 7 years now! With my first pregnancy I gained about 90lbs.. lost some of it.. then the second pregnancy, gained 75lbs.. lost some of that.. third pregnancy gained 60lbs and lost MOST of that... then this fourth pregnancy I gained 70lbs.. I have lost 20 of it thus far.. and HOPING to lose the next 50 by the end of this year! :shrug: but we will see how that goes.. I am nursing, so naturally I have to lose the weight the "natural way" of eating healthy and exercising.. thusfar I have not splurged since the baby was born.. ermmm OK--that has only been 11 days.. haha.. but hey, there are LOADS of sweets in our house right now and I am resisting :D all of them!

One nice thing after childbirth is the inital 10 pounds you lose in the hospital.. I am really grateful the next 10 came off the following week, but I KNOW that is not gonna happen EVERY week... wish it did.. but I am going to think logically this time around and KNOW this weight will take TIME to peel off!

Todays weight was 187lbs and I will post daily my eating/exercise habits for that day (or I shall try to 8-| ).. and of course weekly weigh in!..

I am sure you will find much support and encouragement here at Diettalk ..... and imo you are losing weight at the best time of your life .... because WITH CHILDREN YOU NEED TO KEEP MOVING AND DOING .....

Congratulations on your newest addition! You must be very busy. Your journal caught my eye, as I am pregnant now, due in October, and am sure I will be dealing with trying to lose some baby weight then. Are you allowed any exercise yet?

Thanks for the warm welcome Monicapink Nikic!... Monica.. I noticed that you started the May challenge bit ... I hope to join ya in there come May!! My bday is on the first... sooooooo Look fwd to shaping up!.. :)

Niki.. congrats on the pregnancy!.. I will take a peek at your journal as soon as I can!.. The only advice I can give is to eat as Healthy as you can and TRY not to *indulge* in those cravings!!!.. that is my biggest problem during pregnancy!.. I actually gained 10lbs every month with baby number 1.. ughhh .. anyhow.. dr didnt REALLY say I was "allowed" to exercise. .I think this dr knows that it doesnt matter WHAT she says and that I know my body better than her.. lol My little one was in nicu for a week, so I got plenty of exercise camping out in the hospital!.. I feel great! but of course, starting slowly and mainly doing stretches til May 2nd rolls around then I will start a walking routine then gradually do some sorta aerobics at home via dvd player ;) ..

Noticed your journal right away. Congrats on your new addition. I too am in the same boat. The only difference is that it has been almost 5 years since my youngest was born. I to gained 90 lbs with both my children. Just never seemed to get it off again. I also went home heavier after childbirth than what I weighed just before she was born. Go figure. Well, I am working on it now and that is what matters. No more children for me. If I had 4 I would be as big as a house at 90 lbs each.

Julie!.. It is soooooooooooooo comforting to know that I am not alone in gaining about 90lbs in a pregnancy!..many people are SHOCKED when they find out that info.. I am still secretly hoping for one more child and waiting to drop THAT bomb on dh.. lol .. although I am REALLY hoping to reach a goal weight by this coming December!.. Wishing you all the best in weight loss and in life! and thanks sooo much for the warm welcome!

Monica!.. that REALLY was soooo sweet of you to send me bday wishes.. WOW! thanks!... not something I expected when I popped online here.. lol but very cheerful, so again thank yoU!.. I DID indulge in some cake today that my mom brought by.. I am not too fond in celebrating bdays.. lol.. but well.. the cake was yummy I suppose as it had GIGANTIC strawberries on top of it.. shoulda taken a pic.. was a pretty cake.. LOL.. anyhow.. enough of the sweets now as tomorrow is the day to start the "Diet".. :) there is still cake in the house though (3 pieces) .. and am hoping that either the children or my inlaws will eat it up!.. ;)

Here it is nearly 1am.. I MUST get some sleep.. however, first I need to make a "goal" for this month.. My intentions are there, just hope that my laziness will subside!.. 8-|

This month I do have a goal to lose 15lbs.. it DOES sound like a bit much, however after pregnancy there is always ALOT of swelling especially with my pregnancies sooooooooooo it is safe to assume that I have about 5 more pounds of swelling left over since I lost the initial 10 already.. Hence, I really wanna lose 10lbs of fat this month!.. but a 15lbs weight loss on the scale.. does that make sense?.. :o
no sweets
no fats (gotta give up the curries!)
increase water intake to 12 cups per day
do morning extensive toning exercises(daily)
do evening vigrous walking (nightly)
pray that the weight comes off (oh, the power of prayer!)
EAT HEALTHY!


Those are my daily goals for this month... I always believe if you put your HEART to it, it will definently happen!.. The mind can always be manipulated but the heart is harder to manipulate!.. :D now did THAT make sense.. haha.. :tomato:

Just posting todays CURRENT weight... oh!.. that bday meal must have done me IN!.. 190lbs for today..

breakfast: whole grain cereal.. dh didn't buy my milk as they didnt have any skim left, soooooooooooooooooo I decided to take the fat free plain yogurt, mix it with some water to make a milk consistancy and put in the cereal.. let just say YUMMY!.. ;) really it was pretty good and I am NOT be sarcastic.. lol dh thought I was NUTS.. it is sorta like the fruit and yogurt parfaits though.. and well, thats all for today so far..

lunch: I am "scheduled" to only eat a fat free turkey sandwich on wheat bread with fat free cheese.. I am too used to eating fat free things soooo these things are good to me.. I feel however VERY much inclined to eat something BAD today.. ermmm but I musn't give in to that craving!..

I have a dr. appt in one week and HOPING to be at a good "weight".. I remember my last weight with them was 208lbs... ughhhh and I just HOPE to be at least 25lbs under that, if not 30.. again---that swelling that I have is MAJOR.. so hopefully it wont be too much trouble..

I better hop off of here and start a load of laundry, put together a bouncy seat for the baby and do some exercise whilst everyone is out for lunch!.. (my inlaws live with us and everyone including my older 3 kids are out having lunch)..... after exercise, I will sit down and MAKE SURE I eat that healthy lunch myself!... still must drink some water as I have only had a sip today... I am sure I will catch up though!..

Just had dinner about an hour ago (pretty late at that :( ) I like to eat dinner early around 5 or 6 but we had lots of company today so I had to wait longer.. hence I will stay up a bit longer tonight (well not longer than 11 anyway) .. I stuck with my lunch , didnt eat anything bad.. and well STILL want that cake.. but trying VERY hard not to bother with it.. perhaps tomorrow the craving will be gone (and hopefully the cake too!).. hmmm

For dinner dh sent some food up here to me.. I guess he was in the sandwich making mood.. not sure HOW much fat was in that turkey/cheese sandwich but I am pretty sure he did not use the fat free cheese in it.. I like my cheese burnt a bit, and well the sandwich was yummy since he burnt the cheese for me. I had 2 of those.. and a SMALL piece of baklava (ya I KNOW.. no sweets) :tomato:

As for exercise.. I did manage the morning exercises. .well they were in the afternoon.. however, again because there was lots of family here I didn't get a chance to go out for an evening walk.. I am thinking of doing something extra before I go to sleep though, but of course that will NOT make up for that vigorous walk..

Thinking here though of rescheduling that dr appt til the end of the month.. so I dont have to see the scale.. OH.. I guess I am feeling down now because I cannot have that cake..

:c( heres hoping tomorrow will be a better day... eating/craving wise

Well.. DAY 2 here.. so far so good.. I didn't give into that craving in the mid of the night.. was too tired to stumble downstairs (or lazy) to get it.. and well.. really not worth all that extra pounds.. still no one has eaten it.. MUST push it on everyone today.. lol

Still have to exercise.. have been TOO busy with the children today.. but I think I after I post this I will do some exercises.. and of course I will make sure I do that evening walk today as it REALLY invigorates me, especially if dh walks with me as he walks REALLY fast and makes me move quicker than if I was alone..

hmmmm.. only have had breakfast thusfar.. same as yesterday (boring I know) but hey, I still dont have that skim milk.. would LOVE to go out and buy some.. Lets see.. for lunch I will probally make an egg/turkey sandwich.. I am a sandwich NUT to say the least and just LOVE turkey!... gobble gobble

and as for dinner.. probally some pasta with sauce..

I better hop off my bum and get movin!

:c( yesterday was pretty much a DOWN day.. not even sure what I ate!.. and not really to happy about it..

BUT...........

I guess today is a new start.. musn't give in or give up!.. I think I even missed yesterdays chat... feeling bad about that as I am SURE it would have helped... even exercise was missed yesterday... but I will be sure I do something more vigrous today 8-|

hope everyone else is doing much better than I!.. I am just anticipating my weigh in for sunday... really curious if I can at least lose 2lbs.. agggghhhhh what happened to that 15 i need to lose?!?!... I know. maybe not realistic enough.. but I will still shoot for that goal this month and see how close I can get to it.. I think if you set your goals high enough then you will strive harder and perhaps make it to your goal or at least CLOSE to it..

I am trying to stay MORE connected here on dietalk so I may achieve my goals!
I really like how everyone is so supportive, it is a great help to know there are people who really care and who have the same goals.. it is hard to talk to those whom I know as they have NO idea WHERE I am coming from half the time (those in town anyway)..

sooo today.. thusfar.. my typical breakfast of a healthy cereal with fruit .. and SKIM MILK---FINALLY! :D lets jump for joy! :dn

so.. anyway,... about to have lunch.. a nice turkey/cheese sandwich with fat free cheese on wheat bread and some fruit and pretzels.. I dunno why I cannot resist something salty.. but somehow I think pretzels are the best alternative to lays or any other chip that is in my house....

I better go eat something before the baby needs me.. and well. still got to some more exercise today.. only done about 10 minutes.. i have to do in spurts as I cannot grab TIME in a whole.. only in the evening for walks can I do that.. 8-|

NO one should do that!!!!.. totally intimidates ya!.. not to mention my scale is FUNKY.. it weighed me 5 different numbers today and they the biggest was 192 and smallest was 186.. toooooooooooooooooo annoying.. maybe a new battery is in need... who knows.. I do have that dr appt on monday.. and sunday is my official weigh in day here on the journal.. sooooooo i think I will just have to go with whatever pops up on the scale sunday morning.. the FIRST time.. not the 2nd or 3rd... lol or 10th.. :rofl:

I am going to just post my exercise for today... yaaay! FINALLY got to exercise.. I managed to "fit" it into my busy schedule by waking up earlier and getting it done with.. really still would LOVE to go for a walk in the evening as those are always nice.

Exercise:

-taebo 30 minutes
-toning 10 minutes

Breakfast: 300 calories/0 fat

Lunch: turkey/cheese (fat free) sandwich on white bread .. by the time I remembered to use the wheat, i already put ff mayo on the white bread.. :tomato:

Water intake thus far 5 cups (8oz cups).. 40oz total .. still need 40 more for today!!!

REALLY feeling energized!! YAAAY! for that exercise I got this morning! PHEW!.. also did about 5 minutes of toning again today as I felt the "need" to do so.. lol.. can NOT wait to weigh in on sunday and of course at the drs on monday!.. Hoping I can report a 3-5lbs weight loss on tuesday in the chat! (hoping to be there this time!) :shrug:

Just had dinner.. still a bit on the hungry side and might grab some pretzels or something light.. it is amazing how GOOD fruit tastes when you stop eating sweets all together! :D

CALORIES for today! 1,030 --- I will probally eat one more thing but nothing with too many calories since I am nursing and this number does NOT seem ermm safe enough!

FAT GRAMS for today! 16gr Fat.. I am happy with this number as I would like to keep my "fat" intake 20grams or less.. hey--Oprah did it before and so did I and it worked WONDERS!..

WATER intake: I am still woking on the last 3 cups.. once done with that (probally in about a half hour) I will have consumed 12 cups for today which IS above my 10cup goal!.. I wanted to add another cup or two to make up for the cup of tea I had earlier.. I read somewhere, and not sure IF it is correct (better to be safe) that if you consume caffeine whilst dieting, then for every cup you drink, you drink a cup of water.. mmmm wonder if that is whilst pregnant or just in general.. 8-|



Feeling really good today!... and hoping for the same success tomorrow!

If you were to burn 500 calories more than you consume each day, you would lose one pound each week:

500 x 7 = 3,500

IF I BURN 1884 CALS EACH DAY...

1884x7= 13,188

divided by 3500
= 3.7 lbs per week..

that IS a DREAM............ BUT A GOOD ONE .. LOL
REALISTIC ?? A BIG MAYBE IF ONE STICKS W/PLAN AND KEEPS WITH IT AFTER THE GOAL IS REACHED!!! otherwise watchout :tomato: weight comes back faster once eating "normal" again..

again-- i am eating healthy.. trying to watch my fat/cal intake, up the water.. excercise.. whatever i'm destined to lose, then so be it. ;) i won't give up though!!!

So by switching to skimmed milk, 7 days a week, you can reduce your annual calorie intake by 21,900 calories.

Sunday today.. WEIGH in day for my Journal.. and I am 185lbs.. which is a 5lbs weight loss from last Sunday as I wa 190 then.. my starting weight for DT was 187 though.. :shrug: had I NOT binged and exercised RIGHT.. then I am sure it would have been about 183 as yesterday morning DID say that.. and I binged QUITE heavily lastnight :tomato: feel horrible about it really, but today IS a new day and a bright an sunny one at that!.. i am happy with the 5lbs. and I will continue trying because I know I CAN do this!...

only thing.. I still have not taken my breakfast yet.. behind today as I slept in.. soooo waiting to take breakfast in an hour (lunch time) so I can get dinner in by 5.. I dont like to eat after 6pm..

not sure why i binged yesterday.. boredom maybe?!?! dh and the kids left me home ALL day alone w/the baby.. ermmm and the internet bored me, the tv bored me.. and the house was clean.. what was i to do!?

i think from now on I will MAKE SURE there is some sorta mess in the house.. lol so I dont do something like that again!

tomorrow is the dr appt.. you know. I KNOW those scales weigh you more than what you are.. they figit with them i think tto make it that way.. ermmm and not to mention i will be weighed in the after noon shortly after lunch.. 8-| hence 2 more lbs.. ah well.. wish i moved that appt ahead a few more weeks.. too late now, innit?

Thanks Niki for the support!..

The dr appt went fine.. Although they weighed me a few pounds more.. I am NOT too worried about it because of all the clothes and the clogs I happened to be wearing.. lol HAD to be about 4lbs of weight!..

WELL.. funny thing.. yesterday morning.. I hopped on my scale.. TURNS out it wants to tease the heck outta me!.. it told me I was 155lbs. .THEN.. I said YAH RIGHT!.. Got back on it.. it said 127.. and it kept getting lower and lower.. the lowest I saw was 101... oddly enough the scale IS working for everyone else in this house, but it CHOOSING to tease only ME! :c( it better cut it out! going to put a new battery in it by next week!

The dr.. she gave me some HOPE!.. I asked her.. what is SAFE for a nursing mother.. how many calories does she HAVE to consume.. she told me NOT to focus on that as the baby will take from MY stores as I have PLENTY of them (thanks doc!) .. she said focus on calcium, protein and WATER!.. if milk starts to diminish then just take a spoonful of fenugreek every morning with some water.. NOT to worry that I will harm the baby dieting!.. I was amazed as MOST things you DO read online, say just the OPPOSITE!.. I am going to trust her judgement though as she has REALLY been there for me in the past!!!!!

sooooooooooooooooooooooo with that said AND my next DR appt in OCTOBER.. I am going to shoot for 50-60lbs of weight loss BY THEN!... that averages about 2lbs a week and it IS realistic!.. TOTALLY looking fwd to this challenge that I have started today.. Also.. i did my measurements lastnight.. ermmmm wont post them as I am a shy kinda person.. but.. lets just say.. I was NOT happy.. :( but it gives me a PUSH you know to SEE those numbers versus the SCALE!...

And onto my journey!..

I did eat sweets yesterday.. after the appt.. but only to reward myself.. :D now.. wont do that again.. and plan on awarding myself a new outfit every ten pounds I lose!!!!! :o I think it is a MUCH better idea!

well that is all for now.. will try to update later on.. I gotta do some sorta exercise as dh shut off my alarm this morning after it went off for over an hour.. LOL.. i guess I didn't hear it!..

forgot.. going to write on here what I am writing in my journal at home...

--Must lose 2-3lbs per week
--no sweets
--16Cups of water per day!
--Increase protein consumption (with lentils/beans)
--increase calcium intake (prob with supplement)
--Exercise 30 min per day OR more!
--NO SNACKING!
--22wks (5mos) to go til GOAL date (oct 11th)
--lose 50-60lbs in that time
--weekly weigh in on TUESDAYS (MUST GET A NEW BATTERY or SCALE!)
--MONTHLY measurements on the 11th of each month


I did happen to write my measurements there.. BUT.. again.. wont post! I will however, mention each month on the 11th HOW many inches lost in each area that I measure. looking fwd to all this!..

Well.. Exercise.. FINALLY two days in a row!.. lastnight I got in 30minutes.. and this morning I got in 40 minutes!.. :D feels GOOD! and I am VERY energized to keep going.. sooo I hope I keep this exercise/diet fever for five more months.. :) heck.. longer, but would love to reach my goal as soon as I can but giving myself that five months to reach a goal!

eating has also been fine.. i think yesterday I did eat ONE sweet.. but it was a mere rice krispie bar that you buy from the store.. sooo only about 3 gr fat and 100 cal in that. not too worried about it since my cal intake was NOT too much yesterday ...

gotta ruN! will post more later! :)

I too have a "possessed" scale - one day I was weighing in and my hubby heard me yelling "liar liar - lie to me one more time i am throwing you out the window" then he heard kicking lol he came running in and said "what is going on in here" - I turned on him and said " get out or your next" lol The scale CAN drive us crazy at time :tomato:

Thought I would/should post my mini goals that I have made for myself.. Since I had my last Dr. Appt on the 11th, and my NEXT is on the 11th of Oct, I thought I should use the 11th as a guide :) THAT and well, THAT is when I actually started an exercise REGIME.. soooo below are my mini personal goals!..

I have four children, hence 125 is realistic for me with my height of only 5’1”.. However, my ultimate goal IS 115 and I hope to be there before May 1st, 2005!!!! (25th bday) :D

Popping in before I settle down to bed...

I ate properly today :)

no exercise however due to my dh being late from work and going early to work.. THAT and all the kids keeping me very busy VERY early in the morn (when he left) and well,, they all JUST settled in at around 11pm.. HOPING to do 2 workouts tomorrow to make up for todays.. if I don't do so, I will have to just swallow the thought I missed one day for the week..

REALLY looking fwd to weighing in on tuesday! .. HOPING to be 3 more pounds down at least. my body sure is hurting from the exercise I have done this past week!..

well baby is awake.,,. gotta run (wish i had the time to run!) :shrug:

OH! before i log off of here.. i just found fitday.. entered in my foods and activities for today.. and well.. supposedly I have burned double my calories that I have eaten.. HMMMM wonder if that is true.. I guess we will find out come tuesday!

Well.. today went well!.. exercised in early morning.. and ate right throughout the day.. below is my calorie intake for today and i exercised for 30 minutes.. Monica!... those words were GREAT to hear this morning.. Yesterday i was also a bit off track and didn't exercise either ... I think I was sore at the people in my house who finished off the bread and there was NOTHING for me to eat for lunch whilst they all went out to a lunch in the late afternoon.... arghhh.. still no bread today, but I WILL make do and make it a great day! Thanks for your support dear, it REALLY means alot!!!!!!

Weigh in Tuesday: 185 .. no loss.. tons of exercise.. and ermm about 3 days of binging.. I guess the exercise is what kept the weight from sticking... still not sure on that "number" though because dh has yet to buy me a battery.. REALLY hoping though I could get in the 170's by June.. 178 at least!... 175 would be awesome though!

Today is another day.. and one more week til the next weigh in.. will try harder this week NOT to binge and to keep with the exercising!... I exercised 5 days this past week for 30-45 min each time soooo I am excited about that.. just gotta stick with it and hope that 185 isnt the real number, but something lower.. perhaps I will go on ebay now and buy a 9 volt since dh has become forgetful.. lol

I haven't read your whole journal (yet) but I'm also struggling to lose weight after having kids. Mine are 17 months apart, youngest is 3 months old and nursing.

I basically just wanted to pop in and offer some encouragement! Trying to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise while being a parent is tough stuff, I'm discovering. I wish you the best of luck!

Oh ... gosh.. Hi thin!.. I was just browsing the new journals.. then I popped in here.. I really wish you the best of luck and will be popping in your journal now and then!.. I have 4 kids.. ages 5 and under.. down to a 1 month old :) all are about 2yrs apart. anyhow.. i tend to gain anywhere between 65-90lbs with my pregnancies, only to lose it and then get pregnant again :shrug: ah well..

I totally agree trying to eat healthy with little kids.. you see. my struggle with that is that they have leftovers.. either peanut butter sandwiches or some other struggle such as cookies.. I have made it a "habit" to set a bowl aside and toss their food in there that they dont eat and then in the evening I toss that food out for the birds to eat.. (those skinny things need it more than me!)..

Exercise.. the only way I am getting it "in" is to do it around 6am... in hopes kids dont wake up whilst i a doing it.. otherwise i am pulled from it. if i dont do the morning.. i try my hardest to do it after everyone is asleep (usually around 1130pm)..

Anyway.. thanks for your words of encouragement! I really need them.. dh is lost on how to "support" me in this matter (he is about 120lbs btw and I think no kind of support from him will help with this weight loss).. lol he means well though.. :x

Yesterday.. I did some exercise.. kept up with my water intake and well.. BLEW it in the evening.. ughhhh those cookies sure did me in (they were sugar free btw and yummy at that).. today IS another day..

Dh has a company picnic coming up in June (mid june) and I think his comment was that he hopes I can lose 15lbs by then... :tomato: wanted to smack him really... he has no idea how to support weight loss.. not to mention he HAD to tell me to go back downstairs one night to get some water for one of the kids.. and I complained and said I have been up and down all night... can you go?!.. and he said that he is doing me a favor as I need the exercise.. ughh sooooooooooo the other night I had a chat with hi m and told him NOT to say these things.. and he said he is "trying" to support me.. I told him that those are NOT encouraging words.. soooo since I told him my "feelings" he has laid off on the matter!.. as he now knows he cannot support me with this struggle of mine.. it will only make things worse..

I remember growing up.. my brother would make fun of me (we are 2yrs apart, hes older).. and would call me fat even though I really wasn't.. his picking on me, MADE me gain weight.. as it depressed me.. eventually I MET dh and my self esteem came back and I lost ALOT of weight.. I believe I got to 114lbs which is not bad considering I have large bones.. anyhow... just dh's love is what helped me out, ya know?.. sooo hopefully dh has seen and learned from those "support' comments ... and things will be fine.. those comments DID make me eat those cookies though.. ok ok ok.. they didnt.. I DID IT AT MY OWN WILL.. :tomato:

Today.. exercised at 6am.. felt good to do Tae-Bo (did that yesterday too).. have yet to eat breakfast (like to eat with the kids, they are sleeping).. and well.. am having motions today.. the kids are a bit sick.. baby has motions.. poor thing.. and now me.. I am going to take it as a "good" thing for now and hope they go away after today, but also hope that it helps shed a pound or two :D amazing how you can take a "sickness" and make it into something good.. well this sorta sickness, yes ;)

okay.. thats e nough rambling for today.. i am going to TRY to get a quick 10-20 min nap in before one of the kids awakens... will post more later..

ok.. so my weekend was HORRIBLE with eating and I gained about 3lbs.. I don't wanna change my stats on dietalk.. soooo I am 188 this morning.. i know I am supposed to weigh on tuesdays... but really am upset on this... dont know WHAT came over me.

i wont beat myself up TOO Much here.. I did Exercise already this morning.. and am on a NEW diet regime.. well you know eating healthy still.. but have decided to switch to BROWN rice and red beans for 3wks for dinner.. and the sandwiches for lunch and for breakfast.. i saw a commericial the other day that says drink 24ounces of milk in 24hrs.. was thinking I could drink 2 glasses of milk or three in the morning to get my calcium intake.. as calcium is now said to help in weight loss.. sooo this is my new agenda.. i think i have been taking in too many carbs.. esp with my cereal intake.. going to track all that on fitday though and post in the evening on here my cals burned and cals ate.. (as well as fat grams and calcium intake)...

i am happy i exercised though overall.. i am feeling good this monday morning.. wishing everyone else nothing but success!

Today went smoothly, and quite fast I should add. I did wake up, did my exercise (25min total today) and drank 3 glasses of skim milk for breakfast. Lunch was a turkey/cheese (fat free) sandwich with a handful of pretzel sticks. I drank 12 cups of water and.. well i did happen to drink a cup of tea with some equal in it. gross thing.. you know those bugs that you find in grains and flours..well, there were two of them in my equal (i JUST bought the stuff).. I was desperate NOT to use regular sugar.. sooooo i sifted through the equal, took out the two bugs and went ahead and used it.. i know.. probally drank some bug eggs as well.. :( what can i do though.. ughh

dinner was the brown rice and red kidney beans.. first time i had this rice.. was different and unusual.. but it was alright.. and I do look fwd in continuing this eating as well.. it wasnt that hard.

I did happen to do some ab workout today too that I found in my babytalk magazine (or was it parenting) my abs REALLY felt good after that.. hope to do that daily as well as it only takes about 5 minutes to do..

well.. thats all..

Super weigh in Tuesday... 186.. soooo only one pound gain (not three like scale said yesterday).. i really should stick to weighing ONCE a week..

calories and fat.. calcium etc.. is the same as yesterday as I ate the same things... perhaps a bit less on cal and fat as I decreased my rice intake in the eve..

I did exercise also today :D very happy about that.. gotta keep moving.. can NOT give up.. oh. just when i ALMOST gave in this eve when everyone went out for "sweets".. I drank a cup of tea with Equal in it.. got rid of the craving instantly... hope I can do that in the future!

great day!... just taking it ONE day at a time!

Well.. yesterday.. eating wise was GREAT! However, I only got in 5 min of exercise in the late evening as the children were keeping me pretty busy yesterday (no time for myself)..

Thjs morning though, I got to exercise for 25 min, which was great.. before hand however, I did weigh myself… ok you can NOT keep me off of that thing.. anyway it said 183lbs.. soooo I got on and off several times, and it remained 183… am VERY happy about this especially since I am eating different and exercising more and well after that horrible weekend weight gained last weekend.. am VERY happy.. and it is a great push for me to continue doing what I am doing!

Yesterday went super well.. exercised, ate right..etc...as well as today.. I saw 182 on the scale this morning, however I will officially change my weight in the "stats" on Tuesday.. Scales can be funny sometimes... and although I am EXCITED to be 182 as that is about 6lbs this week loss so far... I am also a bit "iffy" on it all as to IF that scale is telling me the truth.

Honestly though, with all this exercise I have been doing, I can actually "feel" thinner and also my clothes ARE fitting looser and better! So I am excited in that sense.

The weekend is here.. 3 day weekend (that is dh being home).. I MUST CONQUER MY CRAVINGS... I think today was day 4 for my new diet I am doing with the brown rice and red beans.... it has been pretty hard and I was always told day four is the HARDEST.. Everyone was eating that Sara Lee pound cake... and I had a piece in my hand... looked at it... thought twice, then put it away... whats the point in all my hard work if I eat that (yes it is just one piece, but lets face it... a binger (like myself) takes one bite and eats the rest of the box!)...

Gotta keep going and NOT give up! :whip:

Saturday was good. I was even alone in the evening for 3hrs and I did not binge--not once.. thank GOD!!!.. I did get a thought to eat the spaghetti from the girls.. but I remembered putting a bit of butter in them and that is just NOT part of my diet... soooo I didnt touch them, instead got a cup of tea!...

didnt exercise yesterday though but did 3 loads of laundry and went up and down my stairs numerous times doing so... wonder if that can count as my exercise (prob not)..

all is good.. i think I will exercise today.. if I get a chance (hoping everyone will go out for breakfast)

it is odd that I am eating alot of beans and lentils, but I am constipated like mad.. my water intake should also help.. wondering if my morning intake of 2 cups of milk is causing problems.. i dont want to be constipated as that can cause PROBLEMS esp with the scale.. grrrr.. my mil did notice yesterday at the table that I am getting "thin" (in her words).. just loved those words.. and perhaps the reason I did not splurge whilst they were gone lastnnight (they went for pizza btw)..

Congratulations on the weight loss so far. In a few months I will be feeling the post birth weight loss necessity. I am 31 weeks pregnant (loving every minute), but also thinking about the exercise and diet regimen I must follow later. It is encouraging to read your posts.

Last day of May already.. wow!... I still have 11 more days though as I started my diet on may 11th :) sooooo can't wait to see the scale that day! I did happen to veg out yesterday on junk, however, today was a new day and I did pretty good. Didn't get any exercise in though as dh was home all day (i am shy in exercising in front of him :o ) but will be sure to do some exercises first thing in the morning before he wakes up!..

I am getting board of the red kidney beans.. I think this week I am going to eat some lentils in my brown rice... I have plenty of them in there and LOVE lentil curry, just unsure how I am going to like plain lentils.. haha.. we shall find out tomorrow!... if I dont like them I will definently return to my red kidney beans.. I honestly LIKE them AND the rice.. I look fwd to dinner nowadays, but want a bit of a change this week!... and I hope it is a good kinda change!...

Good Morning Diet-Talk! I want to post my total weight loss for the month of May!... I remember that I was 190lbs on May 2nd (due to that bday cake), and today I am 182lbs! Total Loss for MAY: 8lbs ... Yes, I wanted 10-15lbs and I am sure that if I didn't *indulge* so much that would have been possible, but all in all, I am definently happy with 8lbs this month and it gives me a good push to lose more in the month of June... However, because I restarted my program on the 11th of May, I will re-weigh in on the 11th of June so MY month is not yet finished.. I think on May 11th I was 188lbs, so 6lbs weight loss since then and 11 more days to go :)

Feeling lost?

good thing today though---even though I have NO energy... 8-| I manage to do a Tae Bo workout... and am about to fall asleep.. MUST drink a cup of tea when I am done with my 4cups of water here (2 more to go)...

Will post my total measurements lost on the 11th as well as my official 1 month weight loss!

Wow.. it has been some time since I have been in here... mainly because my diet has been a roller coaster these past few days... I am ready to kick some butt though!... time to lose this and I have a new exercise plan to start...

First things first.. since tomorrow is the 11th :) I wanted to note that I am 181lbs, and have lost 10lbs in a month (yaaay!).. my goal was 15, but hey, I splurged now and then so I dont think I did too badly. TOTAL inches LOST: 5 inches all around (too bad they were not all off my spare tire).. :shrug:

Now.. i will stick with my red beans and brown rice, healthy sandwiches and milk in the morning. my exercise SUCKS.. and I have a friend who wants to lose weight too and she mentioned her husband mentioned her and I should start walking..together.. i think he is right.. we need to support eachother because we were both really thin before having kids and now we have the postbaby weight to lose... I am going to propose this to her on saturday since we are having dinner together and maybe we can keep progress of weight loss/inches together.. wonder if she is shy in that area.. i know I am not.. I could care less what people knew I weighed.. lol it is obvious what I weigh.. now if i was 130, then I could fib ten lbs.. but i am not.. LOL

well.. dh's company picnic is this sunday.. i was hoping to be 175lbs by then.. or at least 178lbs.. but i think i MIGHT make it to 179 or so.. there is another picnic (family) that we are planning for the 27th, so in two weeks i think.. I will shoot a goal for then! My goal is 175lbs for June 27th!.. Lets see if I can get to that goal if not lose more weight than I want..

wonder how my fellow "losing weight after childbirth" mothers are doing on here.. gonna go peep in on them now!

June 10th was 181lbs.. hmmm that was 10 days ago.. Today (i know it is monday, and i weigh in on tuesdays) I am 178lbs... 3lbs weight loss in 10 days.. grrr.. ok.. a loss is a loss.. lets just say i had a lot of ups and downs in my eating.. this 178 number this morning has got me motivated thougH!... last week i started walking with a friend.. I did a total of 5.5miles last week. I think I will start posting weights on mondays.. anyway.. we walk 3 times a week.. last week though we only got in 2 times.. but this week I hope it to be better!..

Wow! about six months ago was the last time I posted in here.. I think I gave up hope or something... I have been having ups and downs in this weight loss.. today's weigh in was 160... btw, I am NOW doing Friday weigh ins... soooo since six months ago, I have only lost 18lbs.. a MEASLY 18lbs.. lol.. that sux! Actually I was down to 155 last week and then for some reason I have been overly hungry again... X-( what to do?!...

I think I am going to hop on the diet bandwagon on Monday, the first of Feb... reason being: there are 3 dinner parties to go to this weekend.. Tonight is Pizza.. and although I only eat two pieces, I know that is VERY fattening... Tomorrow is some indian food and also Sunday is Indian food as well.. Note to all: Indian food is VERY oily!... soooooooooooooooooooooooooo Will have to start on the 1st of Feb.

I have a new goal... 10lbs per month til May 1st and then maintain from there.. of course it wouldn't hurt to lose more after that, but I know I will be MUCH more content if I could just shake 30lbs by my 25th bday! >if not more 8-| <

So nothing else new here really... but happy to be back, and hopefully this will be a good turnaround for me come monday!...

I will have to check out everyone elses journals when I return from getting the kids from school (if i get the chance, if not definently some time tonight!)

Today is Monday (not the first of Feb)... I think I got confused using the calendar from my daughter's lunches at school..

Anyhow.. Jan 31st (mon) 2005.. you know, I checked mybodycomp.com .. not sure how accurate it is but supposedly I have 79.61% body fat... and average for a woman is 23%... shocking at this, perhaps this will motivate me to DO something!!!

FOCUS TODAY!!! MUST EAT RIGHT! ... I did good the past few days until lunch time hit... ugh!.. don't know WHAT happened.. I think the scale is lying as well as it said I am 157 today.. not sure how a 3lb loss over this weekend happened.. so, i will not "take" that number and wont weigh again until Friday!!! Hopefully the number will be that or lower!..

here is to a motivational day for everyone!!! and a new start for me from all this mess!

Hey, I remember you! I was pregnant the last time I stopped by and my ds is nearly 6 months old! Time flies!

But wow! You have lost 18 pounds. I can understand how after 6 months you feel that it isn't a lot. I'm down that my weight isn't budging either, but I'm trying to get that mindset that ANY loss is a loss! You should be proud anyway!

Right now we are about the same weight! My ideal goal (probably unrealistic) is to be 122, but at this point, I think I'd be just as happy at 140! 130 is my realistic goal and I think it is attainable. So I am here to join you - 130 by May 1st! Let's make it successful!

Ok.. so since it is FRIDAY, I am going to post my "weigh-in" below. This week, I only exercised ONE TIME (monday) and I binged for 3-5minutes on tues AND on thursday, bleh!... However, instead of continuing my binge, I stopped.. Usually I will binge and then give myself some sort of right to KEEP doing it, but I stopped and even skipped dinner on those two days. As for eating, I have kept with 12glasses of water per day, about 3cups of tea and one diet pepsi (ok, alot of caffiene but well, alot of kids here to keep up with, phew!)...I drink 3 cups of milk per day to get the 24ounces in 24hours (my dr believes in this firmly) and for breakfast, if I eat (bad i know, sometimes NO time), I will have half cup of corn flakes with skim milk... For lunch is a turkey cheese sandwich (well, duh!) and my snacks are pretzels... For dinner, I eat a Smart Ones with some fat free saltines (5 of them) on the side... smart ones by WW is actually pretty yummy!

WeiGH IN TODAY: 152 (8pound loss! YAAAY!) :D this is exciting!

I think this will be a good boost to KEEP going, ya know? even through this weekend!

Wow! Congrats on the 8 pound loss! Do you think drinking the 3 cups of milk played a part? I've read and have seen the commercials advertising its affect on weight loss. Maybe I'll steal your menu!

Thank you for the congrats on baby boy! Yes I love him. I thought I'd miss the pink, girlie dresses, but I just love my little man! :)

I also enjoy WW SmartOnes. They are quick and easy and you don't have to worry about portion sizes, etc. But they can make it costly.

I hope this next week is another success! I really need to make it happen. You'll inspire me before long!

GRRRRR well, TWO pound weight gain, but I suppose I COULD blame it on my cycle... totally sux... I guess this is a PUSH to actually EAT RIGHT (something of which I did nothing of this past week)....

Whisper---i do think the milk played a BIG part... lol esp since I didn't drink any this past week (unless it was with a chocolate bar..).. I gotta check in on you in your journal later today... as for now I have to go wake my daughter (6yr old) to get ready for school (and it is only 6:30am here)...oh hum.. what a long day already.. I just pray the baby stays asleep as he is a tough cookie if I cannot hold him (cant do that and give a bath, do hair, make up---she is having a school party today for learning etiquettes, hence the make up..lol)... oh! i thought also i would miss the pink and all.. but I have taken this weird liking to sage green... everything i buy for myself even matches the baby.. LOL yes, I love him too much that i have to match him... I even made sure he matched his daddy on an outing once... dh said i was obsessed.. :P

I got a glance at the scale (i know before friday, tsk tsk) and well... happy to report 148 on that scale :o it does feel good, believe me! phew!

I have a Dr appt coming in about 8 days sooooo I sorta wanna see a pretty number on the scale when I go there. >call me weird<

Last post was Feb 16th... why do i fall of the bandwagon in here ALL the time?!?! ughh i hate it! well i have had my UPS and downs but I am still at 148.. or rather JUST got back down to 148.. been flucuating again all the way to 156 though... X-( just hate this.. my goal is MAY FIRST.. sooo a bit over two weeks more to go.. and am DETERMINED to get to 135 by then (yes my thingy says 130 but that is more or less a long term goal that i want to reach by june 16th--wedding anniversary AND a trip to pakistan)... sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lets see if we can do this!!!

Well.. Got back from vacation (if thats what you wanna call it) 2wks ago... I DID get down to 135 before we left... THEN I got down to 130 whilst I was there... maybe less.. BUT THEN ON THE LAST WEEK we were there, we splurged at McDonalds as that was THE ONLY PLACE that was safe to eat at really (this was pakistan)... soooooooooo I am back at a nice 138lbs and NOW have a new goal... for a different reason.. BUT .. I have to be 125lbs by September 25th. I won't post yet, WHY I need to be that size.. but it was an agreement I made with dh concerning somthing.. sooo needless to say, time to get my bum back into gear! Am looking into the LOW GI diet... 40% cals come from complex carbs (unrefined), whole grain breads and cerals.. and whole fruits.. 30% from lean protein and 30% from healthy fat (nuts and olive oil, etc..)... THINKING about it.. hmmm and you can only have 1200-1300 cals per day.. wonder if that is true?.. gonna find something on this site to support that. what i HAVE to do is EXERCISE.... X-( i hate doing that.. but... well... NO CHOICE, right?

Your my Idol I read your whole Thread and I understand what your going threw!!!! I was loosing weight good and I got to 158lbs and boom I got pregnant i wanted to be 125 first but I guess god intended me to have her then! I breast feed for 9 months and I ate more then, then when I was pergo??? I went to 220lbs the bigest I have ever been ahhhhhhh so now Im 198lbs 2 1/2 years later and Im still am luggen the baby belly around!!! How did you do it??? Im so siked to read your post because you give me hope!!!!:)
My goal is 125lbs too and I really wish to be 115lbs but not really realistic @ this point???!! Im 5'2" and shoul be 125lbs and I havent seen 125lbs since I was 17 years old and that was 10 years ago!!! OMG!!

Keep it up your almost there!!!!!:D

Well.. I am struggling with these last few pounds... It totally sucks but am happy to know I am not alone in this (and neither are you!)...

I think the way I got to where I am.. I dunno... Nursing helped, I am sure.. Also, I did slim-fast for about a month or so.. and also since we practice Islam, we have Ramadan, so I just ate more healthy then... that is sorta what I am doing right now (from today).. I have started fasting again since I have 10 days left to make up... but for breakfast I ate some oatmeal and milk, and four cups of water.. for dinner (after the sun sets) I intend on having brown rice and tuna.

My doctor that I have (obgyn) told me to eat brown rice and red beans, lentils..etc.. she is hindu sooo she doesnt stress anything on meat. I like to add protein like turkey and chicken and possibly tuna now and then, so that DOES help alot, I think.. OH! and she also told me 3 cups of SKIM milk per day, and lots of water... Eat mostly whole grain stuff if you go for the carbs.. I think she gave me excellent advice and that is one of the many reasons I keep her for a obgyn even though she is about 45min drive from me since I moved.. lol

I'm still nursing my little boy, but plan on weaning him tonight as I get NO sleep at night because he only nurses at that time and takes lots of advantage of it.. lol Am hoping all that extra walking I will do at night will help shed some pounds..

as for exercise.. I DONT DO IT... dont ask me why, it just doesnt happen with 4 kids.. maybe THEY are my exercise?.. hmmm Sometimes I get a chance to do a tae-bo video or go for a quick 10min walk... and sometimes.. once or twice a week I will do my own thang of exercise for 30 minutes... I dont know what happens the other times that I dont do it, wish I could stick with it though!...

I dont think I have been of any help other than what the doc advised me.. she just had a baby about 5mos ago and is back to the way she was when I met her 2yrs ago.. she looks awesome.. soooo I think sticking with her plan is best, honestly! :)

Okay, as I mentioned above... a new diet.. well, it isnt.. but gonna give it ago. I am muslim and last Ramadan I missed 10 days of my fasting... During the other 20 days, I lost 20 pounds eating what I was eating and doing what I was doing. It was great, ya know?.. and the weight.. it STAYED OFF! That is what I wanna stress!... Now, since I have to make up the days before the next Ramadan (which is i think in oct this year), then what better time than now? right?... Am going to follow my Ramadan eating plan for the 10 days...

I woke this morning at 530 to have breakfast.. It was one of them strawberry swirl oatmeal packets (not much to eat, thats for sure 8-| ) and a glass of milk as well as 4 cups of water before sunrise. I move around alot during the day and dont think I need to exercise, kids are plenty exercise, not to mention since I cant eat or drink anything, cant exercise til after I break my fast (after sunset)... Maybe I will exercise then. For dinner (around 830), I plan on having 1/2cup of brown rice and 1/2 can of tuna... maybe top that with some salsa or something spicy... LOVE spicy food! A glass of milk most probably and of course 4-6 more cups of water before going to bed...

I STRESS water for anyone who wants to lose weight.. it DOES help.. it just doesn't help if you hate water.. you gotta make your self LOVE IT!..

Also, eating after 6 or 7pm... it is like a big no-no in dieting books, innit?... well, since I plan on weaning my son, I have a feeling I will be awake MOST of the time in the night anyway... soooooooooo am not worried about the weight staying on from whatever small meal I do eat around 830pm.. lol

Like I said I have 10 days... but they wont be in a row.. they will be over the period of the next two weeks:

Monday: thats today fasting
Tuesday: fast
Wednesd: skip because of MNO
Thursday: fast
Friday : fast
Saturday: fast (even tho i am school-clothing shopping)
Sunday: skip because of a 4pm picnic that WE planned
Monday: fast
Tuesday: fast
Wednesd: skip (dentist appt at 4)
Thursday: fast
Friday: fast
Saturd: fast

Sunday (14th), my exchange student is coming and I met her in Pakistan.. sooo since I gained some weight since I came.. I am hoping to be where I was when I met her (yes, 10lbs ago!)... for some reason when we got to good ol' texas, I gained 10lbs.. I didnt eat over there in Pakistan and I guess I was just HUNGRY, innit?... soooooo am hoping to be about 128 when she comes... I think I can do this.. I KNOW I CAN DO THIS.. I WILL DO THIS!!! GOTTA keep telling myself that... and MUST NOT SPLURGE when no one is looking like I have done in the past... MUST NOT EAT THINGS THAT ARE NOT IN MY "PLAN"...

as for exercise... i think i will manage something in the evenings if I am up for it.. fasting does make you weak.. but like i said, am weaning my little one tonight so probably i will be up walking alot to get him back to sleep (am expecting to anyway) so perhaps it will help..

oh! I checked that low GI diet thing. .it just isnt for me.. dunno why.. but it isnt. lol

Yes you are right!! I didnt like water ever until I started drinking it to loose weight now I love it and have to have it if It's COLD....I cant stand room temp.

also, what prosses do you use to Fast...Im not familliar with it? when I hear fasting I think of someone not eating for Days?? Is it like Lent? Im Lutheran and for lent you give up somthing that you hate to go without. Sorta the same?

Lent is a bit similar... During Ramadan , we fast from sunrise to sunset for 30 days.. if we miss some days, we can make them up before the following Ramadan. We can eat or drink anything before sunrise and after sunset but not during the daylight. This teaches us to be more grateful to our Creator in that we can feel what it is like to be "without".. It isn't just limited to food and drink as there are several other things we cannot do during the daylight hours as well. But luckily it isn't for days, not sure I could do that.. My exchange student last year had a friend in school who was fasting (cant remember her religion) and she did it for DAYS... there was no breaking of the fast at night or anything... I think that would be quite hard to do, but if they are strong-willed, I guess there is a way to do anything! She was a lovely girl in all, thats for sure! Now, gotta note something... My husband is from Pakistan, and over there during our fasting month (well over here too) they tend to make up for what they missed during the daylight hours... something I dont agree with cuz you are not really feeling what it is like to be "without".. you are overfilling your stomach with anything and everything when really you should just eat a simple sized meal and be done with it.

Well, yesterday went super swell! Dinner was brown rice with tuna, a glass of milk and well that 4 cups of water before the night was over. I did drink some tea also with splenda just in case my little one kept me up all night cuz I was trying to wean him.. well, he went for 2 feedings instead of nursing all night sooooooooooooooo that was BETTER but I couldnt say no cuz I was too tired to GET UP out of bed... wondering if he will just grow out of this himself.. hmmm

Today I missed breakfast time as I woke up when the sun was already up (go figure!) soooooooo got about 13 more hours to go for dinner.. not sure what I will eat yet, probably the brown rice and perhaps I shall make some spicy red beans or something.. The thing with fasting is when you don't eat all day like this, you tend to like even the BLANDEST of things... lol Will try to spice things up today though if I get the time.

I did manage to get about 10 minutes of exercise yesterday evening.. well, went for a fast paced walk.. Maybe I will do something extra tonight though after dinner.. it just seems like it is bed time right afterwards but will keep myself up... What I need to do is keep myself away from the computer.. sometimes I secretly hope the thing "crashes" so I can get off my @$$ and do some things, ya know?... maybe that is the problem.. i dont even like watching tv sooo when I am away from this screen, I tend to move around alot more.

okay with that said.. i am outtie.. lol :peace:

I stuck with my diet pretty well on Monday... On Tuesday, I missed breakfast cause I woke up too late and well, I ended up eating a bit more than I like but still it was healthy. sooo not too worried about it.. I just didn't get the enough water this day soooo I think that had something to do with it, and well missing breakfast. I didn't get to do any exercises and well I had a horrible headache as it was ... X-(

Today I am skipping the fast because of the MNO I am going to... this is exciting but on the same note.. i MUST only order something HEALTHY.. am trying to opt for the salad, but we will see how it goes, right?.. so far today I havent eaten.. just used to fasting I guess.. I did chew on a piece of Jucy Fruit tho whilst sitting here.. I coulda exercised by now.. I have been online for about two hours.. time goes FAST when sitting here.. I just try to get all my online stuff done before the kids wake up...

well.. will update laters..

still at 138 though.. did get to 142 on thursday last week.. sooo I guess getting myself back down to 138 is good...

Its been about a week!! I lost ONE pound!!! :D I know that doesn't seem like much.. BUT!!! I BROKE my plateau and it is EXCITING!!! Am sooo totally hoping that it continues going down whilst I do what I have been doing and eat what I have been eating.. it is AWESOME! FINALLY!!!

So far the fasting has been going good.. I did miss two days sooo will make that up next week.. tomorrow Im not fasting cuz of the dentist appt. I feel good.. Physically, mentally, and well spiritually!

Totally hoping that I will be about. hmmmmmmmmm.. 135 or less by Sunday (sounds unreasonable but that is my goal I am shooting for)... soooooooooo lets hope for another 2lbs by then LOST!
