Do you have any celebrity role models (Athletes, Actors/Actresses, Musicians/Singers, whatever) that you look up to or aspire to look like?

I don't really aspire to look like anyone other than a better me. If I focus on looking like someone else it would just depress me, because I know I could never look like them. However, I am inspired by success stories especially real people that have lost weight. In Shape and Fitness magazine's there are articles about real people that have lost weight and I save them to motivate me.

I love that magazine!
Two of my "celebrity" body role models are Serena and Venus Williams. They are so incredibally strong and fit. I accept that I wont be THAT in shape (since I just don't have the time, personal trainers, etc.) but when I see a picture of one of them it reminds me that a strong body is a beautiful body and I can't wait to lose some of this fat!

You know I dont compare myself or aspire to look like any famous people, because I am not. I could name a thousand people that I think are beautiful but unfortuantely I cant be 5' 10"+ like they are. If I had to pick would aspire to look like Selma Hayek. She is thin but still very womanly, and thats closer to my body frame.

I admire Jill Mills - www.jillmills.com - she's an amazing athlete and someone that I think has her head in the right place. Too bad her forum isn't up any longer. But I don't aspire to look like her - other than not wanting that look, I don't have the genetics or the years of training behind me that she does.

But I can train in a similar way. :D And I do admit to a current flirtation with that kind of workout. In fact, I flipped a 350 lb tire yesterday. Fun stuff! I could never reach her level of training, but hey, I can have fun playing at it.

Here's my embarrassing admission.

drewbarrymore

:o

I used to really really dislike her and her little attitude, and I know I don't have her frame and can't look like her. But I find it inspiring to think about the article I read about her in People, about how she started eating meat and started running and lost weight. Days I'm feeling lazy and lethargic, I think "drew Barrymore can do it, why can't you?" And it kind of peps me up.

Jessica,
I'm there with you! I love Drew Barrymore. She seems so confident about herself, and I like that.

I also like the Shape and Fitness girls too. I like how their magazine is right next to the candy, so I usually avoid the "gotta have 'em" m&ms. I don't think they eat too many m&ms.

Delta Burke - she was so beautiful even when she was overweight!

Gwen Stefani(NoDoubt) is who I think has an amazing body. Of course, I am not her so I know I can never look like her. But she has such and amazing attitude and always seems so full of energy. She has her own style and doesnt care what anyone thinks of her. I really admire her for being herself!

The only female celebrity I can think of that I've ever wished I looked like is Sigourney Weaver.

I want to look like me :D

But I would like to have Reba McIntire ( sp? ) the county singer figure

She is not a "Barbie" look, but a real every day women figure ( in my opinion ).

I don't like to sound conceited, but in the face I don't want to look like anyone else but me. Body, now, is quite a different story. I don't want to be extremely thin, but I'm built small anyway. My shoulders are tiny, along with the rest of my upper body 8-| ...of course, I'm not as well (ahem) endowed as some. So I'm never going to be a "hottie".

Anyway, that being said, if I wanted to look like someone else, it would definetly be Catherine Zeta Jones!

You know I also can't really think of anyone else that I would want to look like, well i can think of a ton, but realistically I think I would like to have the body shape of Kelly Clarkson. She isnt to skinny and she looks comfortable and still womanly in her body

I would love to have a body like Adriana Lima, but that is probably unrealistic for me. :(

Aww...c'mon guys, they're all artificial. I bet you're all much better people, and that's worth so much more. In other words, I guess I'm trying to say dont' envy other's figures - especially those that are nipped, tucked, sucked and enhanced - they're going to get old and saggy and heaven only knows what problems they'll all have - all in the name of vanity? Not worth it, my friends, really, it's not! I used to be like that, too but it feels SOOOOO good to be rid of that ridiculous envy for the plastic people - it's like a huge, virtual weight was off me and shot my own self-esteem way up the ladder.

I don't think they are all neccesairly artificial. Maybe a little more made up, but they work hard to keep thier bodies in shape too. What motivates me is the girls on Sex and the City. Thier (characters) seem so comfortable in their own body shapes and that is an inspiration to me. Plus their clothes are great! and s hoes... I love shoes...

I think Angelina Jolie is pretty much the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth......and yet has a dark, mysterious, brooding thing going on. I'd definately like to have a body like hers, although unfortunately I was born with things like hips that make that an impossible dream, lol!! :D

JamieC
06-23-04, 01:56 PM
LOL geolokim..things like hips.. Me too 8-| my problem isnt really my upperbody, it is just the way my body is designed below the belly button. It's weird, my butt/hips aren't really "bubbles", they're simply wide. My mom said my entire body shape would change as I got smaller, and I assume she's right. The last time I was "small" I was too young to have many curves :D so I dunno lol....

BTW, Anyone watch last comic standing? I think the Italian woman is gorgeous. Some women are just born with it.

I would have to say Pink, she is not teeny tiny , but little enough to look good. Or anna nichole smith. but that is stretching it for me a bit...lol....would take major surgery and starving to look like that.....

Good choices everyone...Kelly Clarkson was a good one that I didn't think of...Selena is my role model in terms of everything...I'll never have a body like her...genetics are not in my favor...but she seemed so comfortable in her skin with those beautiful curves that at one point I think some people were and still are self consious about. I know there are millions of other beautiful women out there...I would love to hear some more input on this topic...maybe I will think of more. Alecia

As soon as I read this, Cameron Diaz came to mind. Aside from the fact that she is beautiful, she has a wonderful attitude and that makes her even more attractive. Regardless of what clothes she has on, she is always wearing a smile, has a great fun-loving attitude, and she seems to exude a lot of self confidence.

Well, I notice no guys have posted in here yet. Maybe I'm the only guy with a role model...

For me, I have a lot of role models that are athletes, because they take care of their bodies as good as any. Also, I would like to be as handsome as a lot of actors, but the only thing I can change is the amount of fat and muscle on my body, so I have to stay with who I am.

Without a doubt, and I'm sure this will sound cliche, Lance Armstrong is my biggest role model. I'm not looking up to him for his looks or physique, but his determination and willpower, he really amazes me. If he can overcome what he did and succeed at the highest level, then anything but the complete best I can do seems too little.

Alecia, according to science only like 1% have the genetics lol. It sucks. I guess what I really want isn't to look like anyone else, I just want to have a nice body and I can take it from there. I guess I don't really have a role model, I said Catherine Zeta-Jones but I just think she's pretty. I'm not sure there's any substance behind that.

Lance Armstrong is awesome!! I agree with you Russell - athletes are excellent role models. Did you see Lance in Dodgeball?

Definately Ashley Judd. I think she has a natural beauty to her.

Halle Berry is also a very beautiful woman.

That being said, I NEVER expect to look like either of those girls, but, just for fun, if I had to pick a couple, those would be my choices.

Lance Armstrong...

33 Beat Per Minute resting Heart Rate

500 Watts per Hour power volume for over an hour....yeah, I could push 500 watts...for maybe 30 seconds

VO2 Max of near 90!!! all the O2 that this boy sucks in the blood soaks up..., incredible.

33 beats per minute is AMAZING..I'm at 72 beats now, which aint too bad for a fat girl. I used to be up in the 80s.

I would definitely like to look like Marilyn Monroe. She never had anything done to her body. She had the right curves and she wasn't stick thin or muscular. In general I love the bodies from the 1950s, they are so realistic and sexy like Sophia Loren, Rita Haywood or Judy Garland. Lots of todays movie stars resemble that same kind of body like J-lo, Monica bellucci, Beyonce, Ginger Spice, Kate Winslet

33 BPM? That usually requires a pacemaker and a dose of atropine! I can't even imagine!

Reading through this, I tried to think of someone modern that I wanted to look like, but find I'm also in the Marilyn Monroe camp. I'd like to look a bit like Marilyn, but more muscular. I've read that she lifted weights, don't know if that's true, but she was certainly beautiful and interesting. Too sad, though.

I've seen pictures of Marilyn doing a bench press, but I don't know if that was a true action shot or just a pose. I have heard that she lifted weights, but never from any place I'd consider 'authoritative' - never really looked, either :) I prefer to think she did.

I'm never going to look like my favorite strength athlete, but I'm having a blast working out to do the same kinds of things! Yah!!

Well I think waiting to Exhale is a better example. They actually had a fat character. That dressed the best way should could at her size.

Also, I was watching "Gentelman Perfer Blondes" Marylin was no size 12 in that movie. She was about a size 8, the supposed currect size of Beyonce. Here side kicks Kelly and Michelle are suppose to be sizes 4-6.

Yet, with all the digital remastering in magazine articles. Until I take the measurement myself we will never trully know what those people look like.
