I have struggled for as long as I can remember with my weight, yo-yoing like crazy. When I met my husband-to-be, I was the thinnest and healthiest I have ever been....I don't know what happened!!!! :c( I have a new incentive... a wedding dress :lift: Soooo here I am trying this exercise/diet thing again. My fiance has always been very supportive, loves me whatever shape I am, but for me I want to be thin and be able to keep up to him on hikes! The thing that helps me the most is journaling...mostly to keep myself aware of what I am eating and how much I am exercising.

So far today I have eaten well and gone for an hour walk with the dog...good start. I will journal my food here...feel free to comment or make suggestions, support is good! I will post my day's food either at the end of the day, or in the morning the next day.

Take care :deer:

YAY YAY! Love is in the air... another bride! I love hearing about weddings and romantic things. :o First off congrats on your big day coming up! I hope to learn more about you, my name is Rebekah, I'm 19 years old, and I'm in college @ Florida State University! I'm always posting because everyone here gives me amazing support and there's no shame here. I think your incentive is great! You can definitely make your goal. I started my journal about 3 weeks or so ago, and I have already lost inches & close to 5 pounds. I love posting my food, and my exercise plan for the day!! It helps me alot! Good luck with everything. I'll be sure to drop by and say hello in the future.

Hey there!

Christmas parties are a killer, but in two weeks time, CHRISTMAS WILL BE DONE WITH!!! If I can get through the next two weeks without gaining (I'm happy to put weight loss aside for a fortnight), I'll consider myself a success :D

I've been looking at your food over the past week, you're doing SO WELL! I'm feeling a little guilty, you manage to eat such a wider variety of food than me- I really need to give bread, potatoes and chocolate the boot.

2 things that I'm thinking re: you though is

(a) How much water are you drinking? It's SO central to weight loss
(b) Are you watching your heart rate when you exercise? Are you keeping it within the "fat burning" range?

Well done at the Christmas - when I overshoot for the day, I tend to slide into a "well I've done it now!" mindset and keep eating to 3,000 cal + :o I admire your resolve so much!!

Hugs,
Anna

Thanks Toning up for your words of encouragement :o

Re the Water consumption, I do not have a specific goal for intake....what do you recomend? I am making a concious effort to increase my intake and would guess that I drink about 50-60 oz/day.....Too little???I just don't know.

As for heart rate, I am usually in the "fat burning zone" on the bikes, and the "cardio zone" on the eliptical and treadmill. I feel like I am doing more, if I am sweating and have a hr of 140-170. On the bikes...I just can't get it abouve 100, no matter how hard I try. On the Eliptical and treadmill, I could keep it around 100-130, but I don't feel like I am doing enough! from your experience, is the "fat burning zone", really just that? I have so much to burn and would hate to be wasting my efforts doing more in the cardio! I have always just thought as long as I was working my but off, I would be doing some good for my bod. What do you think? I appreciate any feedback :D

Hello again :)

I was once really sceptical about the "fat burning zone"- I'd look at the numbers on the machine, and I saw that if I went faster (making my heart rate go into the "cardio" zone), I was ultimately burning more calories, and that's a good thing- right?

Having spent three weeks exercising with my heart rate predominately in the fat burning zone, however (after being harassed by my trainer!) I have really really really noticed a difference (the scale is moving much faster!). So who knows?

Some articles I've just found claim the fat burning zone (as I initially suspected) is a load of rubbish, that ultimately, only calories burned matter:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A55494-2004Sep27.html

So maybe I'll stop deliberately slowing down on the elliptical just to keep my heart rate at the "fat burning" level! (This is why I love DT, interacting with other people, you learn heaps!)

Re: water, 60 ounces is fantastic!! Minimum 30 per day, Maximum 60 I would aim for. (I drink around 20 ounces with dinner, it really helps with the digestion & to fill you up- dinner is my big meal of the day).

Keep going great- I think I'm going to take Christmas Day "off"- and make sure I don't touch any candy/ left overs the next day. What do you plan to do? I think being on a diet on Christmas Day will only depress me!!

Anna

Thanks for the info Anna, I think I will do more research myself on that whole HR thing. Unfortunately for Christmas Day, I am working a 12hr day shift 730-730pm so I might as well just diet :)

I hope you thoroughly enjoy your Christmas Day, and don't worry about a thing....it is just one day right?

Hello....is it Jess? Nice to meet you! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding date. You are doing a great job through your weightloss journey! DT is a great place to come, I myself have found lots of support here. Your water looks great too! You were asking about water, for me I try and get in at least 64 oz per day. From the research I have done, I have found intake should be around 8-8 to 12 oz. glasses per day. This helps keep me feeling more full, and definitely refreshed throughout the day! Hope your journey is a fantastic one, and am looking forward to reading about your success as you get closer to your "big day" Have a great week! AJ

Hey Jess :) Your doing great girl!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! :D

Your diet looks good, don't stress those few higher calorie days, your body needs them once in a while and I have found it actually helps me to loose weight by throwing them in.

Do you find it hard to stick to 1200 cals? I need a number to aim for and I was just curious?

I generally drink about 3-4 Liters of water a day, but I've been slack the last few days.

Andrea, Thank you for your encouragement....I don't feel so good about myself today...let's just say that I don't think I can even remember all the food I ate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day :c( So I am not writing down my food for the last couple of days. I am not trying to avoid being accountable, I just ate soooo much without thinking that I would never be able to be accurate with a food journal. I summary though: sushi, chocolate, cookies, mashed potatoes, bread with butter, chocolate, cookies, tarts, veggies and dip, and more chocolate and cookies :tomato:

Andrea: I usually find it kinda hard to reach 1200 cals of good food...I try so hard to avoid bad food usually (cause it just turns into something like the Christmas fiasco!). I am usually completely satisfied at the end of the day with 1200 cals as long as it has been quality good food with lots of fruits and veggies! Good job with the H2O intake Andrea :D

MERRY CHRISTMAS BETH 150!!!! :deer:
