Ho, ho, ho & ho! :deer: Christmas is over and a new year looms and I, Athletea, Chief Diet Faerie, am respectfully moving back into the Diet Village and setting up my Diet Club o' One. I've been doing really well with nutrition/exercise and my weight loss plan (aka THE DIET) for awhile, mostly due to logging and posting everything I eat and somewhat due to buying a certain small super blender set that allows me to sneak vege and fruit into my food plan.

So I'd like to start posting my daily "club" log in this journal ... my method for travel days (like today) will be to start logging in the a.m. (ok, it's 3 a.m. but I can't sleep) and edit as the day goes on. I plan to keep this a no-frills, no-fantasy, no-going-on-and-on-about-this-'n-that-journal, although I can't guarantee that'll happen. Huzzah!

Athletea

To play catch-up a bit, Saturday's cals were 1390, Sunday was in the 1500s, yesterday's log was:

2 T PB-honey 200
Instant blender sorbet: berries, soymilk, Splenda 165
2 pieces healthy batter cake 350
Instant blender sorbet 165
2 caramel-chocolate santas 300
Soymilk 150
1 pieces healthy batter cake 175
Mixed berry smoothie 30

Total 1535

Exercise: 30 min walk, 30 min weights in gym

My basic Faerie Diet is from 1200-1599 cals and exercise every day. I AM CHALLENGING MYSELF TO STAY ON THIS PLAN FOR THE FIVE REMAINING DAYS OF THIS WEEK!

Starting Tuesday's Log and will edit in changes. It's production day, which occasions travel and stress, so will have to FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT TO STAY ON TARGET. Should be sleeping but I can't as there's some kind of police action going on about a block away, lots of noise. I have turned on an old Andy Griffith TV show DVD (which calms and soothes me) to fight the cortisol that's arising in the CDF's aging bod here (cortisol overproduction causes the desire to binge, I'm convinced of that) and will do some painting in a bit, then rest before starting the day. Ok, I'm yakking here and mean only to log in this journal, so here's the log, posted in the new Chief Diet Faerie Club o' One's newsletter (this is the newsletter), the numbers refer to calories. I posted the recipe for the healthy cake in another forum a few days ago so won't repeat it:

1 piece healthy batter cake 175
Creamy vege soup (instantly made in Magic Bullet blender with handful snow peas, broc, carrots, cauliflower, mushrooms, skim milk) 55
4 T Nutella (jar thrown away after that) 400
3 pieces healthy batter cake 525
*Fake Fatburger: Ultra lean beef pattie 150
*Mushrooms 5
*10 tsp Worcestershire sauce 50
*Bun 110
*Full fat cheese slice 60
*T ff mayo 10
Fruit smoothie (3/4 cup mixed berries, Splenda, water) 60

Total 1600

Exercise: 35 min in gym (10 walking laps in aerobics room, 10 core w/ball, 5 treadmill, 10 laps in aerobics room)

Subgoal for Day: Get through without going over calories!

Goal met, more or less. I'm trying to stay below 1550 but the Worcestershire got me! :deer: S'ok, though! Surprising how the W sauce, which I usually don't count, can add up ... I use a lot of it.

A friend of mine once said, "Diets work if you work 'em" or something like that. It's good advice.

Hang in there -

12-30-04, 09:12 AM
Thanks for visiting me lil ol' clubhouse, Bell!!!! You are so right about making the gym a habit ... I'm still lethargic today but am going to go. It's also nice to exercise at home sometimes, but going to the gym seems to punctuate my goals ... also they have better showers than I have at home. I'm excited that three new fitness centers are opening up here, too, so I'll have options. I'd love a 24-hour one.

Husband is on vacation this week, and it is kinda boring since we all haven't been feeling too well...but I actually got up early this morning...and am feeling MUCH BETTER! :D
Maybe I'll try to get in a little exercise today. I don't want to over do, but need to do something...think I will treadmill.
Anyways, have a great day!

 Howdy, chicky! You would workout in the middle of the night or do you just want the option? Hehehehe.. I could workout 24/7 if I want, but the gym is about 30 mins from my home.. BUT! My membership is good there. :)

Corinna

Athletea
12-30-04, 07:44 PM
Thanks be to Millie, Jessi and Corinna for droppin' by my clubhouse!!!! :snow:

I am ready for the New Year, too, Jessie! Can't wait! I think it'll be the best year ever ... it just sounds good, ya know: 2005!

Millie, it really is shaping up to be a great week for me ... hope your's is, too!

Corinna, I would work out in the middle of the night ... especially when I'm returning home from covering a night meeting. I think it'd be quiet. Today a lady in the gym swore at me when I tried to get my clothes out of a dressing room in the shower area ... she was kind of blocking the door and dressing in there but my clothes were laying on the bench ... I smiled (really) and said something to the effect that I'd just get my stuff out of her way ... I only had a towel around me and was wet and I did accidentally brush against her and she swore ... I'd just like a quieter place ... in fact, I'm thinking of dropping all gym workouts and doing it at home after today. Really disturbed me.

Oh well!

Will all Diet Club members please submit their Thursday reports? Oh, I see you have yours ready, Dieter Athletea, will you please go first?

Ok, I'd love to Fantastic Diet Club Leader, er, Athletea! Here 'tis:

Eng muff w/T pb 210
Salad smoothie: Blended fresh spinach, tomato, corn, mushrooms 100
Fake Fatburger (recipe previously posted) 385
M&Ms 240
Pure Protein vanilla protein drink (at mall when I wanted ice cream, went into the health food store and bought a refrigerated single serving, 35 grams of protein) 160
Slimfast low carb creamy vanilla flavor 190
EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shake 100
Eng muff w/T pb 210

Total 1595 (although this is 45 cals over where I'd prefer to be, I'm not really limiting myself to any one number, did good today, will not eat again until after midnight, where if I want a snack, it'll go on the next day)

Exercise: Still lethargic, could only manage 20 min on treadmill then had run-in with rude water aerobics lady (see above post) but I WILL NOT LET IT MAKE ME OVEREAT! Sticking to my diet is my best revenge! 'Cept the RL (Rude Lady) will not know about my sterling uprightness and so I shall be robbed of satisfaction. Where's that mascot? Oh, here he is now ... X-(

JoThrive
12-30-04, 09:16 PM
Yes, indeedy, my friend. People like the Rude Lady can really be irksome, if we let them. So, ignore them!!! Easier said than done I know.

I like the sound of 2005, too. Wonder what adventures lie ahead. We'll soon be finding out.

Keep up the good work, but remember, in spite of the Rude Lady, how much joy you have gotten out of that gym membership in the past. Don't let her spoil the fun.

Thanks, Mascot for that inspiring message.

Ok, well, since we are having only one meeting today. Let's get some preliminary reports in. We can all come back and edit in changes later.

Fine, Athletea, will you go first and submit your report. Tell us where you are with your eating and exercise as of now, with the understanding that this is the LAST CHANCE TO EAT RIGHT IN 2004:

Rice pudding w/raisins 185

Thanks for all the support you've always given me, JoJo! Happy New Year ... I know 2005 is gonna be great! Just feel it in me aged bones!

Athletea
12-31-04, 07:29 PM
All Diet Club Members have returned to the clubhouse for some final club bonding before that ol' diet clock on the diet wall ticks off a final farewell to the year that was so swell ... but rather than the traditional little New Year's snackie things and drinks, the members have decided to go for ONE LAST 2004 CHALLENGE! Because, ya see, we really wanna be primed 'n ready to FINALLY (finally, finally, finally) reach our goal in June of 2005. So because our cals are a bit on the high side today, we're CHALLENGING ALL CLUB MEMBERS, er, MEMBER, TO EAT NO MORE CALS TONIGHT ... or at least until after midnight, which is when club members begin to count their next day's cals (because of work schedules, we sometimes need a nosh at night, so it makes sense to us to go on a 24-hour eating schedule)

Enrolled in this challenge are Members Athletea, Athletea, Athletea and Athletea.

We also have a nonvirtual New Year's Day Challenge ... Diet Club Member Athletea (definitely the most active member of this club) has accepted an invitation from a crazy, er, dedicated friend to meet at the park for a 7 a.m. walk in order to start the new year right ... with a commitment to healthy living and weight management. The challenge is to get up and go do this crazy, er, adventuresome thing.

Do any club members have anything to contribute to this emergency challenge meeting before we all go home?

X-( X-( X-(

Thank you for those encouraging words, Mascot. Meeting adjourned. Party on NOT!

Hmmm. Posting time's are off, anyhow, I'm posting this Jan. 1, early evening. Thanks, Lulu!!! Great job on getting the walk in and choosing a healthy dessert ... pudding's a good choice. I had lf rice pudding and raisins.

No club meeting today as the dieters are resting up for work tomorrow, but here's Athletea's menu for Saturday, January 1. REALLY not planning on eating anymore:

Eng muff w/2 T pb 210
2 Slimfast Optima Vanilla Shakes 380
2 T pb 190
Caramello bar 210
Rice pudding w/raisins 185
Ultra lean beef pattie with mushrooms 155
1 T Worcestshire sauce 15
Sl ff cheese 60
Bun 110
Super shake: Frozen mixed fruit, soymilk, flaxseeds 220
Spinach/tomato smoothie 25

Total 1760

Exercise was previously reported walk in park

My goal for the week was 1200-1550 average cals; not sure if this is realistic for me unless I cut out the daily candy bar fix, which I don't know if I intend to do right now. Anyhow, I did well with an average of approximately 1611 (had the snack last night that I didn't log so it was a bit more) and have worked out every day since last Saturday. Athletea's Diet Club will meet in the a.m. for a club weigh-in and results will be posted in Diet Village Square (aka here)!

The mascot wants to make a speech: X-(

Emergency Meeting o' Athletea's Diet Club, New Year's Day! Member A reported on the New Year's challenges ... not so good on the EAT NO MORE ON NY EVE CHALLENGE ... had a glass of milk and some pb! In honor of the holiday we are NOT amending our official Athletea menu report ... we are putting those extra cals (all healthy) in a bubble and letting them float away into the stratosphere. We will not think about them again.

The start 2005 with a walk in the park with friend went better. We walked for 1.25 hours.

Tomorrow is our first 2005 weigh-in: goal for that is 156 pounds. We hope we make it as the mascot will be upset if we don't. Working tomorrow, too! X-(

Thanks for your comments, Mascot.

Today is the first day of the rest o' our life. We are happy to be above ground 'n dietin' ... we will now go paint, take nap and ignore all thoughts of doing anything productive.

Report tonight will feature a wrap-up of the week's calorie counts!

SINCE I MORE OR LESS REACHED MY GOAL OF 156 BY WHAT I CALL 'NEW YEAR'S SUNDAY' ... and since the forum date stamps are a little off, causing nonsequential posts (I think ... or something) AND since, well, it's 2005, I'm going to close this journal and start Athletea's Diet Club 2005, so all visitors are directed to the new digs. Is that ok with you, Mascot?

X-(

I knew it would be.
