Anything is Possible

If there was ever a time to dare,
to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,
IT IS NOW.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily...
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that's your inspiration,
something that's your dream.
You owe it to yourself to make your days here count.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy. There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up, and call it quits.

Because with determination, and the right tools,
you can do great things.
Let your instincts, your intellect,
and your heart, guide you.

Believe in the incredible power of yourself.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
Believe in yourself and Anything is Possible.

Time for a new journal to go with a new year. It's hard to believe that another year has slipped by once again. My goals for this year are pretty much the same as last year.

1. To keep maintaining my weight.
2. To exercise everyday in some form.
3. To learn new ways of cooking healthier
4. To keep teaching my family the healthier way of living (so they never have to diet like I did for so many years.)
5. To take a bit more time for myself.(much needed sometimes in order to chill as my daughter calls it.........lol)
6. To have the wisdom to help others who need it.

I didn't do much on New Year's eve. After working all day a 11 hour shift I was pretty much wiped out. Managed to fix a tuna casserole for supper with a nice greek salad. My son had to go to work and then he was going to a house party afterwards. He had already told us he wouldn't be home as he figured with being tired from doing a double shift and having a couple of drinks for the new year he was staying put. My daughter was just going over to her bf place and would be coming home just after midnight as they both worked early the next morning. Reminded my daughter to just be careful driving........it's not her driving but others out there I was worried about. Hubby and I settled down to watch TV and we came across a Carol Burnett reunion.............OMG I never laughed so hard in my life. I never did see the new year come in as I fell asleep on the couch and hubby in his lazy boy did the same. Laural woke both of us up and said "Happy New Year"...............lol
Hubby is not feeling great right now. I think he has pnemonia again. He is prone to getting it and I am sure that is what is happening with him now. Will get him into a doc's on Tuesday. Right now we are doing what we have before and crossing our fingers it doesn't get any worse.
My brother is having a family late christmas gathering today. Looks like it will be just my son and I going. Laural has to work and hubby is not up to going. We are having this one later than usual as it's just to hetic before christmas. I need to make a few things this morning to take with me. We are having ham and roasted potato's with salad and veggie tray and I will make my brother a lemon pie( his favorite).

Hope everyone has a great day.

Yesterday weatherwise was miserable........lol It rained so hard all day long. And the wind was strong at times. I ended up driving to my brothers alone as hubby was still too sick to be going out. Laural had to work and Jim took his own car as he wanted to go and visit his Godmother and godfather. We had a great time though and it was so relaxing. No rushing to get to other things and with Christmas and New Years being over no one had to hurry off to finish up last minute things. My brother baked a scrumpitious ham and I mean scrumptious. He lives in a small town that still has a butcher shop in it and had the ham special cut and cured just the way he wanted it. My sister in law made macroni and cheese(to die for) and I made a huge greek salad and a veggie tray. For dessert I made my brothers their favorite pies one lemon and one pineapple..........and also a apple pie for my son and nieces. We took our time over dinner and talked for hours. It was so nice just catching up on everything. The kids started talking about my parents and it's so hard to believe they have been gone as long as they have. My mom will be gone now for 10 years on the 5th of this month and my Dad has been gone 16 years. Sad yes but as I looked at all of us sitting there I knew they would be proud we are close and still enjoy one another's company. My sister in alw and I cleaned up for my brother as he wore himself out getting ready for this. He does so well and everything was great. I left just as it was getting dark to drive back home. The fog was thick but in a strange way comforting. In no time I was back home. Hubby was feeling a bit better and Laural came in from work shortly afterwards. I had brought them both home food for supper so I heated it up and sat talking with them. I didn't realise we had been talking for so long but my son walked in and it was almost 9pm..........lol We watched a bit of TV and then headed to bed. It's back to school for Laural this morning and back to the grind of work for my son as for me I still have today off.
Lots to do though as laundry has piled up and this house needs a good cleaning. Plus it's time to take down the tree and put away everything till next year.

Bell, rainer and Corinna.............Thanks so much for visiting my new 'digs'. Let's all make this year be whatever we desire:)

Judy: I just wanted to drop in and say hello in your new journal....Nice title too...I also wanted to tell you that it is wonderful what you are doing for Marcia (Marcie??)...I wished I lived closer...I bet you could whip this old gal into shape..

May 2005 be your best year ever if that is possible...It seems to me you have a pretty well balanced life and are an extremely generous person in helping out like you did on Christmas day serving the less priviledged...and other good deeds you do..How is Lucille doing?
Does hubby have a yearly shot for pneumonia...Apparently if you have had pneumonia once it is advisable to have a shot...Am sure you already knew this..

Enjoy your day off Judy...I don't know what your weather is like here the trees are white with frost...we had freezing rain last night so hopefully it will warm up so I can get my Little walk in...

Take care

Louise

It's pronounced the same way as Marcie. And thanks for the heads up on the shot for pneumonia. I never heard of it but will check into it for sure.

Up bright and early this morning as it's back to work. I got alot finish yesterday of which I am extremely happy about. The christmas decorations are all packed away till next year. Kitchen and bathroom were totally cleaned including walls. Both the kids rooms and ours were dusted vaccumed and sheets changed and all clothes put away. I had major laundry yesterday 8 loads of it. Geeze not sure how I had that much but it's done and that's what matters. We also had a ton of boxes from christmas that needed breaking down for the garbage collection and that is also done. Then I tackled the one cupboard that always seems to be in a mess. My pots and pans. Took everything out and with all that I got for christmas I was able to throw out a few old pans that I don't use anymore.
Hubby is feeling a bit better still coughing lots but no fever and he is eating.I made a big pot of turkey soup for supper and the kids loved it. They were getting tired of all the big meals around this time of the year. I love my slow cooker that's for sure.
Also go in 66 minutes of exercising yesterday a part of that with my friend and then the rest I did last night. Usually don't like to split up exercising that way but I figure with all the cleaning I did that counts for something also.
Hope everyone has a great day.

January 4, 2005 Update.

Work was as busy as usual today. Did my job plus a overtime route which only took me an extra 1 hour and 45 minutes. Came home and debated for maybe about 5 minutes about doing my recumbant bike. But I am in a challange and well a challange is a challange. So I got on the bike and did 25 minutes:)

Breakfast

English Muffin
1 tblsp peanut butter
1 large grapefruit

Lunch

Ham
Boiled Carrots
1 Large Orange

Supper

Liver
Green Beans
Tossed Salad with FF Italian Dressing

Glad you liked what I wrote. Been thinking about it for awhile and well it just seemed appropiate.:)

Hi Judy: Thanks for visiting my journal...I see you did 25 minutes on your recumbent bike after working all day..Lady where do you get your energy from....lol
Love you little avatar postman or is it a lady?too...He/she is cute....

I am thinking of a recumbent bike...Does your's have all the bells and whistles or just a plain bike if you do not mind me asking...I do need something for when I cannot get out...my basement ceilings are just too low for walk away tapes..but a recumbent bike would fit..and I think they burn more fat or calorie than a regular bike????

Have a great night...

Hi Judy, how's yr mp3 player doing? I've been busy downloading songs from CDs and internet. Found a site that costs me only US$0.10 to download a song! Isn't that cheap? I found this song that I've been searching for years - Moments in Love by the Art of Noise .. do you know this song?

Had way to much to do yesterday to even get on DT and post. :sigh:
Woke up this morning to freezing rain and snow............gonna be a killer for walking today...........lol
So will update hopefully when I get home tonight.

Louise:

My recumbant bike has most of the bells and whistles. I can program it to different intensity levels. It has a heart rate monitor..........calorie burned........distant.........how fast you go.........how long etc. I got it at the Sears outlet here. It runs about 600 and change at the regular Sears but think we paid around 250 for it at the outlet store. I don't like a regular exercise bike as I am never comfortable on them. Love the recumbant bike though and yes would agree it would fit better in your basement if your ceilings are low. Try out different models though before you buy especially the seats on them. Make sure it's comfortable and that you can adjust the seat and pedal reach. However I do think you would enjoy one on days you can't get out for a walk.
As for where do I get my energy from..............lol From exercise of course:)

Chinadoll:

I download my songs from Kazza. And I have never heard of the song you mentioned but will be looking for it when I get home today and see what it is like.

Hello Judy2 ...

Happy New Journal and Happy New Year too!

I love what you wrote at the start of your journal ... did you write it? It's beautiful. I kept a copy of it for myself. I'm new here at DT and success like yours is encouragement for me. :)

Have a great year ... and success with your challenge. I am in Beth's Healthy Living Challenge and I am "starting over" today. Sweets, my downfall, set me back last night. I still think that stuff is going to make me happy. Of course, I'm wrong. :(

Love from Sweet Jean

We have had snow and then freezing rain than snow and more freezing rain. Makes it's difficult to walk and bloody well cold as the rain soaked me thoroughly. It's a day when unless you have a railing or were kind enough to salt your driveway and steps then you just didn't get mail today. Not even our spikes were working in this stuff today. Too many of my co-workers went down while on route today. I feel lucky I wasn't one of them. Sometimes we wonder about deliver no matter what. 8-|
Glad to get home and since hubby still isn't feeling up to par. I started to shovel the driveway........actually more like shovelling ice off the drivewy. But it's done nice and clean and salt on it and the sidewalk so no one has to worry about slipping and falling.
I was suppose to go out tonight and play our first game of volleyball for the new year but not tonight. Nothing can get me out in that ice glazed city tonight that's for sure.

Sweet Jean:

Welcome to diettalk and thank you so much for stopping by my journal. And yes I did write Anything is Possible. I dabble in poetry it is one of my passions. I'm happy you liked it well enough to copy it. I am sure you will have great success here. I know I tried many times to lose weight but until I found diettalk I never stuck to anything long enough. The support here is tremendous and the knowledge these people have that post is second to none. Whatever you want to know someone will have the answer for you.

Did you ever have a day that you wished you weren't in? Yesterday was a day like that for me. It started off just fine got up went to work and everything went smoothly. Dropped by my friends house after work as it was her birthday. She was going to put on a pot of coffee and we were going to get into one of our famous girl gab seesions when my hubby calls and well at this point all h e double hockey sticks broke loose. I have a sister that for lack of beating around the bush has a drug problem big time. I never hear from her unless she wants something namely money. She also is manic depressive which doesn't help. To make a very long story short my evening involved police, my youngest brother who I pray has made the right decision and a trip to my brother's house with her. Once there I called a cousin of ours who is with the OPP (ontario provincial police) to let him know what was going on. He came to my brother's and the 3 of us sat down and we told him everything we knew. The one thing that bothers me the most is our hospitals here. It's really where she should be but unless she was willing to put herself in they wouldn't do it. Not in this city anyways. However and it's the only reason I agreed to her staying at my brother's if when she wakes up in the morning and is acting out of it still my cousin will have her admitted down there. Forgot to mention we also had a doctor come to my brother's and give her a shot to sedate her. My cousin will be checking in at my brother's this morning thankfully he lives close by. As much as I worry about my brother I also know he is very capable of handling her seems to be the only one who can.
Not even sure I want to see my phone bill next month as hubby kept calling me to see if I was alright............with what was going on and the fact he still is as ill as he is he stayed home as we really weren't sure if she knew where we lived or not. Yeah pretty sad but she has always had my phone number but never my address and even if she wanted to couldn't get it as the phone is under a different name.
You know I have been sitting here thinking about whether or not to delete this entry and I am going to leave it. It's my journal after all and sometimes my life isn't easy. I am blessed with great kids a wonderfull husband . Two brothers whom I am extremely proud of. Wonderfull friends both on here and in the "real" world but my life doesn't always run smoothly. I have been told more often than not to turn my back on her. Walk away etc etc. It's not in me to do that. It's who I am and though sometimes it makes my life something other than what I like. I guess my hope is that maybe just maybe this time she frickin well wakes up and smells the coffee and straightens her life around.

Ok well enough of that............what a downer. But shortly I am going out for a walk with Marci. I need to work out some frustrations for sure on this walk...........hope she is prepared for a killer of a walk.............lol Nah will take it to a level I know she can handle.

Hope today will be a better day for you Judy.....I understand a lot about alcoholism and drugs etc..As I think i have told you my ex husband was an alcoholic and my son to be 38 year old son was an alcoholic ( I say this because he has been clean and sober for 15 tears) and no longer attends meetings etc... I am sure you know that no one can help them unless they want to help themselves....There probably are some drug rehabs around your area..that she could go to..but if she wanted to she would....The sad thing about these people is that the are so manipulative, liars etc. and very difficult to be around....I too hope your brother is able to handle her..and I hope no one gives her money...we all know where that will go.. Really sucks to have gone through all that last night..There is saying that this is a disease so to walk away would be wrong but to enable would be wrong too..and I know you are doing exactly the right thing...
Now my concern really is for your hubby...It does not sound like much improvement is there...I had pneumonia in 2003...in July and I was so sick...I had to get two or three refills of antibiotics....If his antibiotics are running out and it does not seem to be really moving any where you may want to take him back to the doc.. It is pretty nasty stuff it gets stuck in the lungs and refuses to move....I have never been much sicker than I was for a whole month...

I wish you a super day today....and I hope to get out for my walk today too..

Thanks Emily and Lousie. It's hard to say the least and yesterday wasn't any better. Right now she is in a shelter as she refused any help what so ever when she woke up. But your right Louise you cannot enable them to continue on with what they do with their life as at some point it starts to destroy your own life. It has taken me years to get to the point of yesterday when you finally have to say no more I can't help you because you don't want the help. If this is the life you have chosen then live it without me and my brothers as we can't help anymore. Until the day she helps herself. And if that day ever comes then maybe we can do for her what we tried to do all these years. How sad to come to this point.

I did get out for a walk with Marci yesterday and it felt wonderfull at the time. There is something about walking and fresh air that can always make me feel refreshed. Plus the fact Marci is a great listener and friend. By the way she is doing great and I told her about the library which she thought was a great idea. She said she can walk over there and use their computer in the afternoons and that way she gets in a bit more exercise also.
Last night was the first time in almost 2 weeks that hubby has slept through the night without waking up with a coughing fit. He said he is feeling better and can feel the pressure in his lungs lifting. I am sure you know what he means by that Louise. He has been under a doctors care constantly through this though as one of his clients is a doctor and he has been here to the house a few times just to check on him.........And I thought doctors wouldn't make house calls anymore.......lol Actually he is also a good friend of ours and he has kept a close eye on hubby through all of this. He told hubby he couldn't let his "computer doctor" get any sicker as who would fix them when they were sick..........lol

I have so much to do today. Laundry and general cleaning of this house plus need to go and get groceries. My daughter's bf was here last night and she has to work today so he is coming over around 10 am to give hubby a hand with a few things. Throughout all this mess that went on this weekend my van got sold. Which means we finally have a garage back. The bf is going to help clean it up as having the van in there things got piled up as no room to move around it.

Hope everyone has a wonderfull day.

Judy, I am so sorry to hear about this situation with your sister.......

I am not sure if I ever shared this - but I too "have" a sister like yours - I say "have" as we are at this time not sure if she is even alive. Due to her life style, she has been missing for almost 3 years now - her placed was searched and the police found gun shells and some blood there - so it looks like there was some foul play involved in her missing.

This is such a rough position for family members........I wish I had some words of wisdom for you......just know I am here if you need an ear

Very long day at work today. Lack of sleep this weekend didn't help either........lol I did a 12 hour shift today and so glad it's over. Right now everyone is at work so it's peacefull and I am taking advantage of it. Hubby should be home shortly as he is only doing a couple of hours on a call tonight. I have a nice salmon in the oven for supper. Then afterwards I am going to ride my bike and then take a calgon type bath......:)

Awe your sooooooooooo sweet:)

Funny you should ask about pictures. Laural just had her grad pics taken the other day so as soon as they come in I will post one. And I will put one of me and hubby on here as soon as I get my scanner re-hooked.

Been kinda hetic again around here............lol My best friend's hubby called to tell me that she had slipped on ice and broken her leg. So I spent most of last night over at her house helping out and barking orders and her kids and hubby as to what they would now have to do in order to help her out........hahahha. Bet they were glad to see me go home last night. But it's kinda funny what I take for granted. My kids help out alot here at home.......laundry and cooking ( yeah ok so maybe I have to remind them) but they know how to do it. Her kids I swear have never had to and really don't know how. That was until last night. Guess with her being a stay at home mom they never really had to do it before.

Got up early this morning and did 30 minute workout and then headed off to work. Did a 10 hour day and came home and did another 45 minute workout. Took a long calgon take me away type bath :D . Everyone is at work right now so I don't need to fix supper.........(big plus). I am going over to my friends in a bit to give her some of my light weights and some recipes for the hubby and kids as they are going to eat healthy and not fast foods while she is laid up for the next few days. :D

Breakfast

Great day at work today. It was just like spring outside and although it's gonna get real cold and snow tonight. Today was :super: Reminded me that spring is not that far off. And that it will come:)
Came home and put a nice big chicken in the oven and will do a large salad and squash to go with it.
Then I came donw into my gym and did 20 minutes on my bike and then another 20 minutes on my health walker plus 10 minutes of weights. I have decided to do my workouts when I come home after work. Seems to uplift me more than if I do them before work. Don't know why but I am gonna continue this way for awhile.
I got a fanastic book at today with lots and lots of healthy recipes. I am going to try out a few and if they are good then I will post them on here for others.

Hope everyone has a fantastic evening.

So far this has been a really productive weekend. Everyone pitched in yesterday to help clean the house from top to bottom. I love having a clean house for sure. And with laundry and everything being done it means I have time to do what I want today:)
I also went to Walmart to pick up socks and a few other things yesterday. I always go to the section where they have their exercise stuff to check it out. I bought myself Pilates Resistance Tubing. So will try it out today. I have the Winsor Pilates DVD's but this is suppose to be a bit different so will see as I plan on working it in my routine today. I made a crock pot full of chicken and veggies for supper and have to say it was awesome. I froze enough to take to work for a couple of days also.

Beth:

No I don't mind saying what has been going on with her. She has called almost everyday and I haven't been answering the phone around here unless I know the number. Hubby has just been hanging up when he knows it's her. Finally yesterday he told her not to call again unless she had checked herself into a hospital. When she does that we will come and see her. But until she admits she has a sickness and gets the help she needs we are done with her. Harsh yes...........but very necessary. She needs to be accountable for her actions without anyone making excuses for her. Or bailing her out money wise. She makes twice what my youngest brother does and dang near the same amount I do in a month. Yet she in in debt up to her eyeballs and thinks it's my responsibility to pay her debts. I trully haven't figured that logic out but I know it's the drugs talking but it's still mind boggling at times. My youngest brother does so great on his pension. His own home and never ask for anything from either my other brother or myself. And here she is with no home.......and never any money :sigh:

Hope everyone has a wonderfull Sunday.

It is mighty frosty outside to say the least today. Minus 21 with wind gusts of up to 44 km a hour. Plus it's snowing heavily. Wanna take a walk with me? Awe come on we only have to stay out there for 4-5 hours..........lol
Glad to be home tonight though where it's warm and cozy and what's going on outside I won't think about till tommorrow again.
I am searching the internet for flights to North Dakota as Laural and I are flying down shortly to check out one of her scholarships offers. The school will pay for it (added bonus) but I need to find out where I want to leave from either where we live or Toronto. This is going to be a blast for Laural and I as this is the start of schools wooing her to play soccer for them.
I am soooooooooo proud of all she has and will accomplish now and in the future. I couldn't have asked for 2 better kids than what I have if I could have hand picked them myself.
I have been doing the 5 minutes bike challange with Lisrey and I love it as after I got home from work I got right on my bike and I am proud to say I upped it an intensity level.............wooooooooohooooooooo feels great even though I only did 10 minutes at that level. A week ago I couldn't do 5 minutes without my legs screaming to stop it.

Breakfast

Baby it's cold outside :frosty: Minus 23 is a tad cold even for me......lol Bundled up so well to head out today and still man oh man that cold air to breathe in was something else. They are telling people here not to stay out longer than 20 inutes at a time as frostbite will occur............hahahahaha.........like we don't know that. And we are out for 5 hours at a time. I couldn't feel my hands at one point so broke out the hand warming packs I carry and aweeeeeeeeee it was bliss having those today:)
Got back to the depot and they asked me to do an emergency call back. And yes I did it 8-| . So happy to get home and drink some nice warm tea though tonight. Warmed myself up and then headed down to my gym where I did a 50 minute workout. I have to say exercising after I get home from work makes me feel 100% better than when I did it in the mornings before going to work. So yes Beth this is working out great for me.

I am a frozen postie-cicle. We need a break in temperatures for sure. It's at least suppose to warm up to minus 14 tomorrow so that might help but they are calling for another winter storm. I was litterly dragging my behind today out there. This cold snap drains your energy level big time when your out in it for more than a couple of hours. Today I was out from 10 am till 5:45 tonight. Your body really feels it after a couple of hours. It's like you can feel the energy drain right out of your body. I am glad this week is over but not looking forward to next week as we are going to be even more short handed than we were this week. So I am going to rest rest rest this weekend as I will need all my energy for next week. Hopefully it warms up a bit.
Last night hubby and I went out and bought a snow blower. We got a good deal on it and it must be our age as we just aren't going shovel anymore......lol
The kids were happy to see us get one also.............hmmmmm wonder why......lol
I am hoping tommorrow I have time to visit everyone's journals. I have been lax that way and I apologise.

Breakfast

Special K
2% milk

Supper

Ham and cheese omellette
2 slices of whole grain toast

Snack

2 multigrain pita's

We had a blizzard yesterday and for once I didn't mind as I knew I didn't have to go out unless I wanted to.:)
However I did walk over to my friends house in the afternoon as she had to have surgery this past week as they read her xray wrong and she needed to have pins put in that leg of hers. Like what is wrong with our hospitals and doctors anymore. Seems like I am hearing more and more of this type of stuff.
By the time I got back home as I helped out with a few things over there as Marci is still in and out of it due to the medication. Good drugs though as she was always smiling.......lol
I had baked in the morning so I put most of it in the freezer. Supper was still cooking away in the crock pot. So I came downstairs to ride my bike. I flipped on the TV and started watching a movie and did over a hour on my bike..........yaah it felt great.
Today I am going over to a co-workers home for a candle party. Hmmmmm like I don't need anymore candles but she came to mine so what can you do?
I had to laugh at hubby yesterday though we bought this snowthrower and it wouldn't start yesterday. I said maybe it's too cold and needs to warm up first after all it's waay below the temperatures we are used to here. He gives me this look like I have no clue what I am talking about. But he brings it in the house and is going to put it back in the box to return as he has called canadian tire and they are going to take it back. I said to him well at least try it now that it has been inside and I get the rolled eyes again but he is going to do it just to show me I don't know what I am talking about..........the darn thing started right up..............OMG I never laughed so hard in my life. First time I ever heard of a snowthrower having to be warm to start it. But after reading the book on it when it gets below minus 25 that apparently is too cold to start them. Hmmmmmmm for the price we payed it should start in minus 100 I think. Anyways he shrugs his shoulders and takes it back outside and does the driveway. He will just have to leave it near the heater in the garage and warm it up a bit in this type of weather before using it.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Louise:

I am thourughly enjoying not having to go outside and walk in this weather. I am hoping by Monday it warms up a bit though.

Yeap it's been awhile since I was here. All I can say is busy busy busy. Worked 12-14 hour days all week long. So most days I was cold and miserable and just plain too tired to come on the computer. Plus have been busy trying to find a good deal on a flight to North Dakota. Even though the school is paying for Laural I didn't want a bunch of layovers etc etc. I am an impatient traveller I guess.......lol Finally booked one for us though and we will leave Detroit at 11:30 am and get to North Dakota at 3:08 pm. Laural is really excited and the coach has e-mailed me I swear a thousand times.........lol
I have also been going over to Marci's quite a few times this past week as she is really having a hard time of it with her leg. She goes to the doc's tommorrow so hope he can help somewhat with the pain going on. Also my brother was here on Friday as his doctor is here. So helped him find a dentist that is reasonable for his income plus fill out papers to subsidise his expenses on dental care. I wanted to pay for his dental bills but he is a proud stubborn man and won't hear of it. So will do the paper work and help him that way........lol However I did get him a new set of dishes and a whole bunch of cups as over the last couple of years he has broken quite a few. Part of his problem is his one arm and hand will just give out at anytime and it's usually when he is carrying something. So broken dishes are normal for him........So he was happy to get a new set that he can break as he put it.

On Friday Laural's proofs for her grad pictures came in. So I called her from work and said."your grad proofs are in but they are in your name Can I open them?" "Sure Mom but don't show them to anyone" "hmmmm ok sweetie I promise I won't show them to anyone" Dang good thing I don't know a single person named anyone..........lol But I know a whole bunch named everyone  They are great pictures and I am going to scan a couple for here.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and bought 6 turkeys.........OMG we are going have turkey forever.............but at $1 a pound to good of a deal to pass up. I have one in the oven right now and the house smells so good. Gotta love the smell of turkey cooking. Will also go and get 4 more turkeys this week as it's one of the main meats my kids and hubby like to eat all the time plus it's good for them. I thought 6 were enough but hubby and kids say buy more..........lol

Well that pretty much it for me I have another week to work and then off a week. Work a week and off 2 weeks. Looking forward to this as it's been awhile since I had time off. Maybe it will give me time to catch up with everyone here on DT.

Hi Judy: Just popping in to see if you are ok...I ordered my new bike today..Will get it on Wednesday and assemble it myself....Hope it will not take more than 1 hour....We have a lady postie this week...I thought of you when I saw here...She is quite tall, nice and slim & trim..grey hair I would say in her 50's anyway...very nice....Our regular guy is on vacation...He seems to be always on vacation  he likes his job...he talks on his cell phone..parks his car....sits in it for breaks etc...where as this lady does not..She pretty well walks all her route here..

Anyway hope Marci is doing better...Have a great weekend...When are you gong to North Dakota? That will be fun I am sure...

Have a good weekend..and if I read correctly you are off next week?.

Another week down and just one more to go until I am on vacation. :) I can't wait till I am on holidays. I need a break for sure. At least the weather has been kinder this week. Yesterday was actually nice to be out in. We are helping out daily at another depot with what we call (callbacks) this is taking a route and delivering it other than our own. I work from depot 4 and we have been going over and helping out depot 3. It's been going on for a long time now. Since before christmas. They did a restructure in depot 3 which means total idiots went in there and changed the walks around. They deleted 3 walks and put those routes onto other routes by splitting them up on routes that were left. What a mess.Mail is backed up beyond belief and the carriers there are tired........have way too much mail and are physically incapable at this point to carry the routes the way they are. Since I am realitively new at being a carrier it boggles my mind how a corporation can let this happen. And we are due for a restructure at our depot starting in March. I have been told at what happened in 97 when they did a restucture at our depot. Where they started work at 6 am and 5 days a week most worked until 9pm. They said this went on for 3 months until they got back in the dpot and fixed the problems they created. Truthfully my depot and depot 3 need walks added to them not taken away. In the last 5 years in this city the growth in the areas surrounding depot 3 and 4 has been huge. In our depot the routes take the 8 hours to do and that is without taking extra time at breaks or lunch. If we lose walks it means we will lose carriers also. Not looking forward to this whatsoever. What this corporation needs to do is take a couple of the older carriers and have them do the restucture. Not people who have never delivered in their life. What looks good on paper doesn't always mean it's going to work when put to the real work of it.

Laural and I fly out on Feb 16th. We are looking forward to it for sure. Plus in March she will take her SAT test in the states. It's an exciting time for sure for her and she is really pumped as she says.......lol
I had a surprise visit last night from my other son:) The boy who is a friend of Jim's that lived with us for a year. He came to live with us as he was in a financial mess and well needed not only someone to show him how to handle money but give him the confidence he neede to succeed in his life. When Brian left us he had money in the bank and a job that was what he wanted to do. He go married last to a very nice girl and they have a son now. So last night Brian brought Ryker over and he is such a cutie. I am happy to see Brian doing so well. He has always called me mom since the boys were in high school together. He is a fine example of a kid not to give up on.

Lulu:

Thanks for visiting and I bet you will have that bike together in no time flat.
It's funny when you talk about one carrier and the other seems the opposite. We have a handfull like the guy carrier you have. But 90% of the ones I work with are like the lady carrier you had this week. Myself I prefer to walk a route rather than drive it. To me it's faster as I am not having to go and get the truck and park it somwhere else.
As for Marci she is doing much better. She is at least out of bed and getting around on cruthes in the last couple of days. She is learning new ways of doing things since she can't just do them the normal way.......lol Her spirits are much better now also but she is not looking forward to the physio she will have to do in another couple of weeks. That's when she will start putting weight back on that leg of hers.

Well enough babbling for now. My eating has been good and well I am trully getting way more exercise than I need........lol But exercise is good and keeps me healthy and in shape so I am not complaining.

Four more days and I am on holidays:) Not that I am counting or anything like that...........lol
Got home from work and had to run out and pick up Laural's contact lenses and few other things. While at the mall I found a few bargains for myself. Bought a new bathrobe( the warm fuzzy type) you know the one after a hard day at work that you just wanna slip on and snuggle in the lazy boy chair and forget about the rest of the world. That kind of bathrobe......Also bought a pair of jeans that were 39.95 on sale for $7 ...........my kind of shopping for sure. Super is almost ready so this is a short update.
Thanks for visiting Crazy and yes it has been awhile but seems like there is never enough time for everything in a day so perfectly understandable.
Thanks for the visit Chinadoll and if you want cold temperatures come for a visit anytime.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

It's freezing rain outside right now and I don't have to go out in it today:) I am offically on vacation and couldn't be happier. I really need this week off. Time to let my body relax and also to recover a bit from the harsh winter we have had so far. I am nursing a pinch nerve in my left shoulder right now. I did it sometime of Thursday and it's finally feeling a bit better this morning. Carrying to much weight on Thursday and even though I know better I was in a hurry to finish work and well this body cannot do that and not suffer for it afterwards........lol Friday was a day of pure pain with it. That mail bag felt like a ton of bricks for sure and I was never happier then when the last piece of mail was deliverd and I unstrapped that bag.........lol I think I did a little happy dance when I did.
Did a lot of pre-cooking this weekend. Homemade soup and a couple of casseroles are in the freezer. So hubby will have a choice as to what to eat while Laural and I are gone. We leave Wednessday morning and I am looking forward to getting away. I will be staying in a hotel and Laural will be at the dorm getting to know the team. Usually the parent stays at a guest room on campus but it was booked by another coach so they are putting me up at a hotel. Oh what a shame .........lol It has a gym and indoor pool and with that I am set for sure:)
I am hoping to get in on some chats this week. I really miss them when I am working. I always find them so motivational when I do get to be in them.
Louise:
I am happy you have your bike and I am sure you will enjoy it. Slow and easy at first and you will build up the stamina for it in no time at all.

Have a great day everyone.

I am back home from our trip to North Dakota. Laural and I had a wonderfull time. The trip was so much fun for the both of us.
Both Laural and I were tired as our trip started that morning at 4am and we travelled for 12 hours in total with layovers and such. I am not one for planes but managed ok. Turbulance is just not my idea of fun for some reason. We had to transfer planes in Minneapolis(sp) and OMG what a trek from one concourse to the other. We get to the terminal with like 10 minutes to spare and board right away. Only to be told we have to switch planes as something was wrong with the one we were on. This is not something you tell people who are not too crazy about flying in the first place. The plane we transferred to was IMHO not one I really wanted to be on. Anyways we are waiting for take-off and this man comes on board and says the plane is overweight and we need a volunteer to get off and take a later flight. Yeap let me tell you the confidence in me is just growing by leaps and bounds at this point. We finally get under way and the ride was something I don't think I will ever forget. Let's just say between the turbulance and my daughter litterly squeezing my arm to death that when those wheels touched ground I was mighty thankful. At the airport we are met by the soccer team which if we had any doubt about who we were meeting the "Hey Recruit" sign and soccer outfits left us with no doubts.........lol
So off to the hotel for me and check in and Laural is off to the campus and dorm that she will stay in for the trip. My room was great and I thought wow I don't need all this for one person.....but I'll take it.........lol I checked in and decided to do a quick tour of the gym and pool there. As soon as I saw the exercise equipment I knew I would get a good workout. Everything was welled looked after and in fantastic shape. The pool was a good size and they had a hot tub also. I spent a bit too much time broswing and had to race back to my room grab a shower and be ready as the girls were picking me up at 5:30 for supper.
So off to the campus we go and into their dining area. Let me tell you I was so impressed with the eating facility here. This cafeteria was huge and the choices for supper that night were many. The thing that impressed me the most was everything there was healthy. You had a choice of grilled salmon.......chicken breast or a sitr fry made with tons and tons of veggies.A salad bar that was very impressive.......a fruit bar..........a station for soup in which 4 different kinds were offered.........a station to make sandwiches and I was impressed by it was all lean cuts of meats............another station for drinks.............a yougurt station in which I swear there were every kind of yougurt offered that was ever made. There was also a dessert station and they listed the ingredients of each dessert with the calories and the breakdown of fat and carbs etc. We sat with the team and the coach came in to introduce herself as she had been in class on our arrival to which she profusely apoligised for not meeting us at the airport.
About 7:30 both Laural and I were now showing signs of fatigue as we had been up and travelling since 3am our time which is 2am their time. So the coach gave me a ride back to the hotel and Laural went off which I assumed was to the dorm and grab a nap. For me it was into the hotel and the coach sat down with me over a coffee for a few questions she had. She likes to get to know the parent as it gives her info on a player as to if they decide to play for her she knows their likes and dislikes without waiting for the player to tell her when they are comfortable being there. Smart coach in my opinion. By 10 the coach left and I don't remember my head hitting the pillow. I woke up at 6am and felt totally renewed and ready for another day. Went down to the gym for a workout and then took a quick swim and shower and by that time the coach was back to get me. So off we went to breakfast at the campus with the girls. Breakfast was wonderfull also. I was most happy to see that Laural could eat a variety of things as she is a fussy eater. I actually was amazed at the amount of food my daughter was putting away........lol However when I thought she was going to the dorm the night before was only right in the fact they dropped in there only to change into soccer gear and head to the indoor gym for a workout. She said they workouted for 2 hours and it was ball skills and a quick scrimmage. The girls wanted to see what Laural could do and they were all happy. They were telling the coach about one routine Laural goes through and you gotta see it coach and teach us to do it also........lol
After breakfast Laural and I headed off with the coach for a tour of the campus. The first building we went to was Admissions and as soon as we walked in there was a sign saying Welcome Laural __________ Ontario Canada. My daughter eyes lit up and she was like wow Mom look at that......lol I said yeap your a celebrity today.........I myself was very impressed with the school. It's not as big as some of the schools we have been to but the academic side of this school is top notch which is what Laural is looking for. Yes she wants to play soccer but she wants to come away after 4 years with a good education. We found out while at admissions that Laural's GPA is 3.92 when they convert from our grading system to theirs. Not shabby at all.
OUr day was filled with meeting teachers........other students..........and after supper we had 2 hours to do as we pleased as the coach wanted Laural to check out anything she wanted to and have time to talk with me about what was happening. Like I said smart coach as a kid will talk more when they are alone with their parent then with a whole group trying to impress them.........lol The team had arranged for a game against another school so Laural could get the feel of how they played. I have to say this team is awesome with ball control......passing and scoring..........The other team was welled matched with them. After 10 minutes of playing Laural subbed in to play with them. Now remember she is my daughter :) but she shone out there. So much so that the coach from this team wants her on his next year. (he never approached her while we were there I might add) The email was waiting for us when we got back home.
Friday morning Laural attended a couple of classes to see how she liked the teachers. We left for home at noon and arrived back around midnight to a snow storm. We had good weather while we were away and I was hopping the same when we got back but oh well...........It's almost spring isn't it?

This has turned out more to a book than a entry but in the 3 days we were gone so much happened. It was a whirlwind for sure. Laural has a couple of more schools to check out and then she will decide where she is going. She has a letter of intent in her hand from this school and it's all she can do not to sign it as she really liked it there and the team. Said she felt a click with them right away. That's a big thing also to consider. In all fairness she will see these other schools also. I will be sure to let everyone know what she decides as you can bet I will have a link to the press release when she signs.............lol

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Judy: Good to hear about your trip to North Dakota....Apart from the trip..which I am sure was really long...sound like the both of you were very impressed.....As you say though it will be interesting to see what the other schools have to offer.....

I have only flown few times..but the first time I flew...people were telling me all about turbulence etc..and I was so scared I drove to Burlington Vermont...a smaller airport to fly to Dallas Texas....I was scared it was silly...I finally got on the plane after it was delayed..and more fear building up..lol...I go on that plane..and OMG I loved the surge of take off...and we had no turbulence at all...Had to change in Pittsburgh PA...which is a huge airport...I am not sure but probably comparable to Minneapolis got to Dallas ok and enjoyed my ride back home...again delayed in Pittsburgh...but smart enough to ask for a supper voucher because I would miss my supper on the plane..but got to fly over New York at night...wow what an awesome sight...

Hope your next flights are more fun...Keep us posted... We anxiously await the news...

Take care Judy...Back to work is it?

Well it was back to work today and back to fighting snow banks and icy sidewalks and driveways. I put in 11 hours today and they were still asking me to do more. Not a chance today. I have jet lag and feel like I wanna sleep at least 2 days and then wake up. This is the first time I had jet lag but considering how close we flew there and back it's no wonder.

Lulu:

I don't like turbulence whatsoever. But our flight from Minneapolis to Detroit was on a bigger plane and I thouroughly enjoyed it. I loved looking at the clouds while we were flying over top of them. It looks like snow but much prettier. Also liked looking at the different land marks from that high up.

Being back at work this week was not an easy one for sure. I want spring so bad right now........I am tired of all the ice and snow and everything that goes along with winter X-(
Maybe it's the fact I fell 3 times on Friday on icy driveways. The last time was the worse as I hit hard on my back and it's still sore. So this weekend it's been the heating pad and lots of massages from hubby and daughter. Hopefully people had a chance to get out and clean their driveways this weekend. Cuz if not there is no way I am going to attempt delivery of their mail on Monday. Ok so enough *****ing about that but honestly what does it take to make sure someone can safely walk up your driveway and do it without falling. Even with ice cleets on doesn't make it a hundred percent we can make it without an incident.

I haven't exercised at all this weekend. I went out and got grocery's on Saturday and then went and spent the afternoon with a friend whose husband is in the hospital dying of cancer. Also saw a co-worker who is also in the same hospital also losing her battle with cancer. It's such a terrible disease and so many I know either have it or have someone that is close to them with it. Today I have spent most of the day doing laundry as somehow or another there was 12 loads of laundry to get done. Right now Ihave one load left to wash and 3 to dry. Gawd I could use a laundry mat on days like today............lol

Beth:

I definelty will keep you all posted on things. It's an exciting time for sure.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Ouch..three times in one day is a bit much 8-| ..I don't know what your temps were like there but here...it was warm earlier in the day and some of the snow melted only to form slippery ice later on in the day...we went out for supper..and I had to salt the step before going to the car.
Cancer is just a horrible disease Judy to lose someone to..as you may know I just lost a good friend...to cancer .

They are forecasting a big storm I think it is on Tuesday about 15-25 centimeters of snow into Wednesday......Is it going your way too? Hope not for you..

Take care....

My life these days seem to be filled with no time left for coming on the computer. I have been working extremely long hours. We had another blast of winter last week and wowsers we really got hit with it. So much snow and then it warmed up just enough to melt a bit and then back to a deep freeze. Just enough to make everything a mess especially the sidewalks. Wading through knee deep snow and underneath it pure ice is not easy. It means our own walks take twice as long to finish and then do overtime also makes for very long days. Most nights I was lucky to get home by 6:30 and being cold, wet and plain exhausted makes for a cranky woman I tell ya..........lol
And for the next 2 weeks we are under a volume count in our depot. It's something we are not looking forward to. Every single piece of mail has to be counted that goes into our case along with packages as to how they are delivered and mail that isn't delivered the reason why. All of this has to be recorded and it will take awhile to do so.We normally leave to start delivering around 10 am however with this volume count we probably won't get out till noon or later. Since I have never been through a volume count in a depot I asked some of the carriers who have been through them. I am not looking forward to this as they say we go through them every 5 years and they have never gotten home before 8 or 9 at night. Yikees!!!

Other than working so much I have also been busy doing things with the kids. My son is off to Cuba on Sunday with a friend. A much needed break for him to say the least. But since he also works so many hours when we had a few spare minutes I helped him find a vacation package. He got a great deal for 7 nights all inclusive in Varedaro. The internet is one great thing I must say as he didn't have the time to go and see travel agents with his schedule. The boys went 5 years ago to Cuba and had a great time so they are looking forward to it again. Also my daughter had a fashion show on Thursday night that we went to. It was fantastic. The kids put a lot of work into it and it came off great.

Hubby and I had our anniversary last night also. We went out to eat as I was too tired to do anything else......We went to our favorite restaurant. It's a little home cooking place that is fantastic for food. They had homemade fish and chips as one of their specials and oooooooooohhh it looked so good and smelled fantastic. I have to say it was delicious however I should know better by now not to eat anything fried. My stomach just cannot handle anything fried and last night was no different.

On Sunday we will have another house guest for awhile. A co-worker of mine who took a leave of absent last summer has come back to work. She has been hoping for a transfer to Peterbourgh as this is where her parents are and they are both ill. Thus the reason for the leave of absent. However money is also a issue as she is a single parent and needs the income also. So she is back and waiting for the transfer to come through. It could be right away or it could be a few months. She told me she was staying in a motel as renting a place requires a lease which is not what she wants to do as if the transfer comes through quickly she wants to be able to go. But being she travels back and forth each weekend she hasn't been able to find a room. So I called hubby and talked it over with him and she will stay with us starting on Sunday night until she has time to find something. She has so much on her plate I wanted to help in a small way. Take some of the pressure off of her. So our guest room is full once again:)

My eating and exercise has been the same. I am still maintaining so that is what counts.

Louise:

Yes we got the storm not just on Tuesday but we got hit again on Wed. with even more snow then what we got on Tuesday. On Thursday in the truck I was extrememly lucky. I don't drive fast on snow covered roads especially when I know there is a sheet of ice under it. And a right hand drive vechile is so light weight that you need extra precaution with it. However it didn't help when I hit black ice and the truck started spinning out of control. I could see 2 other cars parked on this street and all I could think of was OMG I am going to hit one. Don't ask how as I still don't know but I hit a snow bank bounced off it and missed the first car and dang if I don't hit another snow bank bounce off it and miss the second car until finally I get this truck stopped. There was a guy walking his dog that came running up to the truck to see if I was okay. I said yeah all the while I am thinking in my head OMG I better do some hail mary's here as that was too close for comfort. This guy says I saw what happened and lady you are one great driver. I am thinking HUH what is he talking about. So I let him think that and went on about my day...........all the while thinking man oh man that was luck. I get back to work and this guy had phoned in and told my supervisor how lucky they were to have someone who could handle themselves in a situation like that. It was nice of him but I had to tell them the truth............I wasn't going fast which is what probably saved me from anything really happening but that as far as I was concerned I was just plain lucky that nothing did happen.
As for my back it still hurts and the heating pad is my best friend right now. I am hoping it clears up soon but suppose it will take time.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Judy: OM goodness that ride in the truck was sure scarey..and I believe you were lucky..maybe someone as watching over you too. and those Hail Marys did not hurt either....Thank goodness you did not hit the two cars...that would not have been fun..for sure...You could have been hurt too Judy..even though you were not going g fast...Don't need another one of those this winter...
I shoveled on Tuesday twice..I thought of you..and thought well if our postie comes..I don't want him or her to have to wade through all that snow...and as you say there is always black ice...to be concerned about...I don't think we got as much as you ...we got about 11 centimeters.....but we had strong winds,...and it turned cold here too..Ross got out the snowblower on Wednesday.....He is dangerous with that thing...I watch him..When Ross first got the new blower my son Wayne happened to be here and he was blowing snow and got Wayne right in the face...He daydreams I think..lol..I just don't want him hitting the house which is very close to us next door...That is not a nice thing to do..there are days I wish he would let me do it but it is a man thing ..lol...I have learned it has a reverse on it though.. I may be brave enough to take it out on my own one day...I just wish he would show me in case he is hospitalized and we have a storm..I would be able to do it myself....but I can always ask a neighbor..for some help...

How is the school search going for Laurel? When is your next little trip in search of a school?

Am sure your co-worker is really thankful to have such a generous person as you are to allow her to share your house with her..

As far as your back Judy...although my opinion was not asked..lol..I will give it anyway..I think you should see the doc..It has been a week...and with all the extra hours you are going to work next week... you will be feeling it more and more...

Have a super weekend Judy.:rose:

Another very busy week for me here. My coworker stayed with us this week also and it was alot of fun having her. I am sorry to see her go but I know also being up where her mom and dad is and helping them is very important to her. I finally broke down and went to the doctor about this back of mine. Hmmmmmmm guess I should have gone earlier as I pulled the 2 major muscles in my back. So now I am on restrictions at work. This week I will only be sorting my route and taking out the mail for group boxes. Have to have someone load my truck and unload it when I get back. Frustrating to say the least but this back of mine needs to heal also so that I don't cause further damage to it. Only one more week and then I am on vacation for 2 weeks so it will help being off and then I can go back to full duties.
I took Laural to the States on Saturday morning for her to write her SAT test. I swear though someone is watching over me for sure. The weather was horrible in the morning. I hadn't planned onleaving my brother's till 6:30 but got up at 5am and took a look outside and yikeeeeeeeees could not see the road for a snow squall that was coming in off the lake. By the time we crossed the border I was wondering just what I was doing driving in it. And Laural was counting cars, trucks and transports in the ditch. For a drive that was only suppose to be a hour it took 2 hours and 20 minutes. Nineteen vechiles in the ditch...........4 accidents and 8 cars that were abandoned. This test took 4 hours so I waited around at this school for her to finish. I always travell with pillows and blankets as you just never know and they came in handy for a little snooze while waiting yesterday........lol By the time we left it was like night and day. The roads were clear and a bit wet but not snow covered at all. Laural was amazed as she counldn't get over the difference. Plus it only took 50 minutes to get back to the border instead of the long drive that morning. By the time we finally got back home we barely had enough time to shower and dress for my cousin daughter's wedding. We missed the ceremony but they knew we would and made it just in time for the reception. It was beautifull and the bride looked fabulous. I had to make a speech after the dinner as for some reason my relatives think I am good at it..............lol I started it out by saying 15 years ago I was in this very hall for my cousin's wedding and here I am today at the same mic now giving a speech for his daughter who is 23...........hmmmmmmmm does anyone know how to do math on this one??? I should tell you though this girl was adopted by my cousin 10 years ago when she was 13. That will explain it. People always say how generous and kind my hubby and I are to open our home to ones in need. It runs in my family for sure. My cousin and his wife have taken in foster children for years now. They have 2 children of their own and yet they always make room for another.

I have a ton to do today. Laundry.......groceries.........and general housework. It's a good thing the doctor gave me great drugs.........

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Hi Judy: Was waiting for some news about you...Glad you saw the doc...Happy to hear you have lighter duties...I think that is great...We only have one back..adn we need to take care of it..Glad the meds are helping too....
I saw one of those little mail trucks this week on our street..I thought of yo..I thought hmmmm...I wonder if I could do as well as you did handling that little devil without hitting the two cars..especially with the steering wheel and all on the right side...yikes i think not

Another frazzling driving experience for you ....Glad it ended well..
Glad to know some good folks are taking in foster children..I was in foster homes as a child a lot and I hit some terrible ones..and I had to ask to leave a couple..Soem folks Judy I am sure you know just do it for the money....I think maybe that is what a couple of the homes I was in was in it for..

Good to hear from you and have a good week at work...and a safe one

Hi Judy

I am happy you got yourself looked at and in spite of your pigheadedness ( yes you lol ! ) am happy your getting help at work and will soon have off for 2 weeks to heal :)

NOW that means to take it easy and heal lady ! NOT paint the house and build a fence and all those things you do for fun, when you have days off work

OH my about the road conditions.

I am grateful you are both back safely.

I am offically on vacation for 2 weeks now and I am so looking forward to relaxing and doing only what I want to...........lol My back feels somewhat better but still is sore at times and I need to listen to it more. Last week at work was frustrating but it was fun having others load my truck and do all the heavy lifting also. I do work with a great bunch of people and they were all willing and ready to give me a hand when I couldn't do something. Nice to work with a bunch that really care about each other. However I am trully hoping I am back to 100% in the time I am off. Heal back heal is all I can say:)
Today is offically the first day of spring but looking outside it would be hard to convince anyone of that. So far today we have had rain..........freezing rain and now snow. I can't complain since I am inside and my daughter right now is in Ohio playing the first soccer tournament of the year. Waiting for the phone call from her to hear the outcome of the championship game. They won 9-0 and 3-0 yesterday. Played today at 10 am and won 9-0 so they play for the championship and it should almsot be over............call kid call it's killing your mother waiting for the score...........lol When she called at noon to say they were going to the final she said they played on a field of mud and all of them were at the hotel showering and getting thier uniforms washed so they could go and get muddy again........lol Ahhh to be young and nothing bothers you.
I have no big plans while I am off. Will go for a few long walks and see if I can find any signs of spring. Will finally be able to go and visit with my friend Marci and see how she is doing. She has had quite the time with everything and is not healing like she should. This worries me but then again I was born a natural worrier. I think I am going to go and rent a bunch of movies also. I went yesterday and rented Ray and I loved it. It was a great movie and I can see why Jamie Foxx got the Academy Award as he was excellent. I want to rent Ladder 49 as I hear it is also an exellent movie.
I am also going to try and come up with some different dishes this week. Getting tired of the same ole things so will do a bit of experimenting........look out family............lol

Lulu:

I really like driving the right hand trucks. They are intimidating at first to say the least. Only becasue we are so use to driving on the left. But they handle easy and are actually safer for us as we are not getting out into traffic all the time. However they have their downside also and ice and wet roads they are not that great on. Just being extra carefull in those conditions and having luck on your side helps. I have to say your right when it comes to foster homes. Some are only in it for the money. Such a shame when that is the reason. Too many children need a home where they feel safe.

Beth:

Yeap that's me stubborn and pig headed for sure. However when it got to the point where I was actually on my hands and knees just trying to get into the truck I decided I had better go and get some mighty strong drugs for the pain..........lol Didn't count on the light duties but oh well got them whether I wanted them or not...........lol Hope your new grandbaby gets here soon.

Laural finally called around 6:30 last night to say they were on their way home as CHAMPIONS. Final game was 6-0:) They were the only team in the tournament not to have any goals scored against them. Not a bad way to start the season. We picked Laural up at 11 pm and OMG what a sight these kids were. If I didn't know better I would have thought they were off mud wrestling for the weekend. With no place to really clean up after the last game the only thing they could do was change clothes and throw everything in garbage bags. However her hair was caked in mud. And she headed straight for the shower when she got home. Her soccer bag, shoes and uniform were something else I tell you. I actually put them on the porch and got the hose from the garage and hosed everything down as mud was everywhere and this is after she said she scraped down the mud first. Ok now on the practical side...............what in the sam heck was this tournament thinking??????????? Being involved in soccer for so long I know what can happen to a field when it rains. Laural said the fields they played on are ruined completely ruined and it will cost a fortune to repair them. None of them could understand why this tournament went forward in the first place. With it being wet first from snow and then it rained you have the perfect conditions for grass to be torn out in chunks playing soccer on it. She said the fields were so bad at the end of the tounament that she was litterly standing in mud that was over the top of her shoes at all time. Trust me a tournament here would have been cancelled if conditions meant tearing up our fields like that.
Going to let Laural sleep in this morning and then send her to school for the start of the second class. I went for a nice brisk walk this morning.......only went for 30 minutes but plan on going again with the dog. He needs his exercise also..........lol
Then later will go to the pool as exercising in the water won't be hard on my back and I luv the aerobic classes there.

I am happy you have these next 2 weeks off ( think of me lol ) and that hopefully your back will have a chance to fully heal :)

I laughed about the condition laural and team mates came home in - laughed and yet also agreed that is was not a real wise idea to have the match...

Judy where is your friend that joined here the beginning of the year? user name something like judyfriend2 ????

Enjoy the pool :D

Cannot believe they had a soccer match in that kind of a mess.....Lucky the kids did not catch cold too..

Sorry Marci is not healing as well as she should...Are there reasons for this or other medical conditons?....
Easter this weekend I am cooking Saturday for eh gang...Ham scalloped potatoes asparagus and broccoli slaw...and I am not sure what else...will have a little egg hunt for the grandkids.

Hope you have a nice Easter and enjoy the rest of your time off.

Last week was very relaxing for me and I still have another week off:) My back is feeling great and I can do almost anything without pain which is great. Went for a walk yesterday with my daughter and I think spring just may be coming. Most of the snow has melted here...........yipppeeeeeee. Today is suppose to be really nice so if it is I will go for a long walk. I do need to go and buy another pair of shoes though. Mine have had it and shoes are the most important thing for me. I wear out a pair about every 3 months. Good thing with my job we get a shoe allowance..........lol
My son called me last night and asked if he could bring a girl home to meet me. Hmmmmmm now lets see..........he hasn't brought one home for over a year and a half now so this must be serious. I told him to bring her for supper as today is when we are having our Easter dinner also. A day late but when the kids work like they do I try and at least have holiday meals when everyone can enjoy them even if it's after the fact.
I am not going with the traditional meal of turkey or ham this year. I am making salmon steaks on the BBQ with grilled veggies. A nice tossed salad and some spinach pita.
Hope everyone had a great Easter.

What a beautifull :spring: day. Spring has finally arrived............yipeeeeeee I love walking in this kind of weather. The air has that freshness that you just know everything is coming awake from a long winter of hibernation. No more bundling up to shield off bitter cold winds and trudging through snowbanks.
And I find the attitude of everyone changes with the warmer weather coming in.
My eating has been going great these last few weeks. And with my back being back to 100% I am able to workout like I enjoy.

Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather:)

Hi Judy,

I've been wanting to pop in for some time now, and then get distracted and forget. Sorry about that.

It was a glorious day here as well, and we sorely needed it. So many counties in PA are under water due to massive flooding from all the rain and heavy snow melt all occurring at the same time. 6" of rain in less than two weeks on top of I don't know how much in total snowfall melting at the same time. Times like this when I am thankful for living on the mountain!

I was out doing some yardwork and cleaning in the flower bed, and hubby and I took the two little dogs and went for a nice walk as well. They are saying tomorrow is going to be even nicer...........hooray!

I've begun planting some veggie seeds and annuals too for planting in the gardens when the time comes. I'm so excited and really hoping my plans for growing all my own plants works out well. So far, so good, but I have many more to go too........LOL

You have a great week. Hope all is well with you and yours.

It's been awhile since I have posted anything. Truthfully it's been one of the roughest weeks for me. We lost a co-worker this week. She was only 48 and one of the nicest person I have ever known. I have worked with her for more than 16 years and also with her husband. If there ever was a couple that showed the true meaning of love and marriage it was these 2. However cancer doesn't care who it strikes and at least now her suffering is over. The funeral was yesterday and it was not easy. Especially since I am covering the route she did all the time.
Eating has not been good this week at all. No appettite what so ever. I will get back on track that way right shortly though.

Sandielynne:

Thanks for stopping by. I love it now that the warmer weather is here. I plan on getting my flower gardens worked up this weekend and doing alot of outside work.

Hi Judy: So sorry to hear about the loss of your co-worker & friend. and at such a young age.
So glad your back is 100% and you are doing all that you enjoy...I am still enjoying my bike....

Have a great weekend and enjoy it I hear it is going to be a nice one....

My son was up in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks ago...He works for a medical firm (BHM) which supplies hospital supplies in particular lifts for patients..The ones that run on a track on the ceiling...He was also in Grand Bend, all over actually...He usually flys to Toronto and then rents a car and does all his little trips from there...He is their only English guy so he gets to go to all over...He is supervisor and oversees and trouble shoots many of the installations...Most of the hospitals/homes etc. have their lifts in them..or are gradually getting them...

Take care

yes, i'm so thankful for the snow being gone as well. that was, until today. when it hit 78 degrees and 100 percent humidity, oh man... we wisconsinites were fleeing for our air conditioned homes like cockroaches suddenly exposed to sunlight. i even have a sunburn for today's adventures, just an hour and a half outdoors... my skin obviously wasn't prepared for the shift from subzero to subsaharen. in any case, spring is certainly here and i hope you're enjoying it. have a good week.

My second son played in his high school hockey alumni this weekend...Wow he played the best hockey he has played in a long time that I have seen anyway,,,Guess he must be getting older...He is 35 and played against 20 year olds....and got 5 goals in two games almost back to back and scored the winning goal in overtime..with two guys who play junior hockey on the other team...Very exciting for this mom and grandma....there was a little bit of yelling and jumping going on.. :o My ex was at the game too and after the last one was over he said to our newspaper reporter "hey Dan: You got the name of who got that last goal? lol...So of course we will get to read about it next week again in the local newspaper...It is so nice to go to these things and see all our kids grown up with their wives and baby carriages etc... and to see all the parents and how the kids turned out etc...
Anyway way more excitement than I have had in a long time.. Looking forward to see where Laurel will be attending school...

Hope you have a good week...Hope the snow is gone...How is Marcie doing?

Hi all...............been a looooooooong time since I posted. Was in a bit of an accident a couple of weeks ago and just haven't been up to coming on the puter. Make a long story short while going from one route to another in a cab we were hit full force from behind. It has taken a bit for my head to stop aching as I got majorly thrown around. The car that hit us never even hit their brakes before hitting us. Thankfully no one was injured too badly. I am back at work and happy to be back. Not one for doing nothing.
My exercising is sorely lacking right now though. I have to take it easy for awhile longer as the soft tissues in my neck are still tender.
And I can tell once they are back to normal I will have to hit the exercising hard as I am getting soft.............grrrrrrrrrrr.

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the beautifull weather.

So sorry to hear of the accident but glad you are all but healed...Could have been much much worse...

The weather here is horrible...and is going to continue into the weekend....Have been doing so much yard work...mowing grass twice a week...and gardening...hard to keep up with all the weeds...

It's been a whirlwind of activity in the past few days. There are so many forms to fill out and send back in order for my daughter to go to school in August. Most due to the after effects of 911 for sure. So hopefully I have dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's for them.....lol
The weather here has been really nice to say the least. It has been nice enough to wait to rain at least till I am finished my route at work. I have gotten all my flowers planted and my veggie garden is starting to grow already. I love this time of year so much. Being outdoors is really where I enjoy my time most.
Yesterday I spent the day at the big corporate challange that goes on every year here. This is my 3rd year in a row on the team and we have so much fun. We raise money for the children of this community to send them to camp in the summer and also for breakfast programs throughout the school year. Plus everyone makes a donation to the food bank. It's probably the single most day that our food banks get the boost they need to make sure they have enough for everyone in need.
We always have a lot of fun and the games we play are so goofy but so much fun also. It threatened rain all day but the only time it really came down was when we took an hour break for lunch:) This year there were 95 teams participating which was down I think 4 teams from last year. Still alot of people when each team has 12-15 members on it.

Beth and Lulu:

Thanks for visiting I am feeling much much better now. Glad to be back to exercising and headache free that's for sure.
Thanks Lulu about Laural..........your right I am going to miss her something fierce for sure. But it's her time to spread her wings and grow into an adult.

Hope everyone has a wonderfull weekend.

I hope all is well with you and your just super busy?

Those neck things you got last year to help keep you cool? How well did they work for you? I am not sure if I got the same ones or not - and it has been so many years since I bought any I forget lol 8-|

I got 3 today that have crystals of some sort in and you put them in cold water for 3 - 5 minutes and they are to last for a few days and then you dry them out and do it again - is this the type you got?

The heat here is "killing" me and all the businesses turn off their AC at quiting time and I have to clean the buildings in the heat.

Sorry for stealing your journal space lol

I didn't realise it had been so long since I have posted in this journal. I have to admit I would rather be outside right now rather than inside on the computer:) I guess it's because I have wanted summer to be here for so long and now that it is I am going to enjoy it..........lol
We have been extremely busy also. Putting up the pool this weekend which I can hardly wait for. We have a lot of work to do in order to put it up. Need to clear a space in the back yard and make sure it is level before we can even start. So hubby has a bobcat coming today in order to level the ground. He needs to dig about a foot down on the one side in order to level it. Then all the grass and such will have to be hulled away and then we can set up the pool. I am hoping by Monday we will be able to swim. The weather here has been record temperatures for heat. So many people are complaining about it but not me. I absolutley love it. And yes I admit it is difficult to get out there and walk and carry a pack full of mail and I sweat buckets but on the other hand I will take this any day over freezing my butt off.........lol
I have to watch my intake of foods though in the heat as I tend not to want to have anything at all. So I made up a couple of salads this week so that for supper we can just eat salad and cold meat. I also need to go to the store and get salt tablets today. Sweating so much means I am not retaining the salt in my body like in the winter. I am drinking over 10 bottles of water a day which is great.

Beth:

Not sure what you bought but it's not the same as I have. I got mine at walmart and they can go in the freezer and last all day and keep me cool. I don't remember the bloody name of it as I keep it at work. But it's like beans inside this thing so it doesn't freeze solid but will form around my neck when I take it out. Another simple thing you can do it get a towel and run it under cold water and put that around your neck and it will do the same thing. Also I like the towel at times better as I can wipe my face and arms when I am sweating.

Hi all :D
Well the pool is up finally. What a lot of work that was for sure.......lol
If anyone says setting up a pool is easy then I wanna meet them......lol
On Saturday we started the digging for it. Our back yard slopes quite a bit so we had to dig down almost 3 feet in order to get a level area in order to set the pool on. It took us till late Sunday afternoon to do that. What a pain dig a bit then get the level out and see how much more we had to dig. Then tamp it down nice and hard and put 2 inches of sand on that and tamp more and then set the blocks in after we cut out a space for them and yeap tamp tamp tamp some more.
By Monday we were ready to set up the pool so my hubby son and I are out there doing it and we are 3/4 of the way around with the sides and boom a strong wind picks up and man oh man we are holding on to this wall and there is just no way .......................so I grab my cell and start calling people to get over to help us.........lol what a hoot...............we now have 12 people in the pool supporting the wall while 3 of the guys are putting in the support beams. Finally the wall is up..yipppeeeeee but then I am looking around and say............ummmmm think we forgot something. Hubby says :yeah like what?" "Ummm there are 12 of us in the pool and like how are we to get out...........lol?" So we started boosting people up and out till the smallest was left and they grabbed her by the arms and pulled straight up and out. Too funny for words. Talk about amateurs setting up a pool. We did get the liner in and started to fill it with a bit of water and then a storm hit. So with fingers crossed we went in the house praying it wouldn't bring the pool down. Thankfully the storm passed quickly and we went right back out to get everything else done that needed to be so the guy with the water truck could come and fill it up in the morning.
Needless to say that didn't go smoothly either.........lol Two truck loads of water in and when he got back with the 3rd one a huge storm came in and started dumping large hail and high winds. We were lucky as no tornado hit our city but they hit all around us.
So now the pool is already.........except for the fact it's a tad bit cold to swim in right now. By Saturday it should be nice and warm though and I am sure that is where I will be spending the day:)

Hi Judy: Sounds like quite a job putting up that pool!!!...Most folks around here get the place where they buy the pool to do the installation....however knowing you you like a challenge...and god for you doing it yourself..... I had heard there were tornado warning up your area...
I went down to my son's in the Eastern Townships..a town called Lennoxville...You may have heard of it it is the home of Bishops University...quite a well known and a good university...There was friendship day down there but it was just too hot to enjoy...My poor little grandson and I went on the swings but we had to go home after the parade because he was really flushed..so that was the end of the day..it was nice to get away..

Glad you got your pool up and going...Had to laugh all you guys in the pool and no place to get out
I am going bike riding tomorrow first time this year...weather permitting.....my work is all done..what a job pressure washing the deck then putting preservative on it...I need another coat on the railing...later this weekend maybe if no rain..

Good to hear from you Judy..Take care..a.nd enjoy that pool...We really needed one last week.lol..

Life is busy right now but I am loving it:)
The weather is perfect also. Especially for the pool..........nice and warm the water has warmed up to 79 degrees which is great for swimming. I love coming home from work and going for a swim. I have noticed that my arms and tummy are starting to tone up better also. Which is a plus.
I know summer is my favorite time of the year not only because of the weather but also my eating is really good. Fresh veggies from the garden are so good and we eat them everyday as the taste is so much better than from the store. Also I drink a lot of ice cold water. Most days I drink between 8-10 bottles.
As I said life is busy right now with work, flag football, baseball, getting things ready to send my daughter off to school, the day to day housework and yard work..........and add on cleaning the pool and it never seems like enough hours in a day..........lol

Louise:

Yes I know where you are talking about. Bishops is a execellent school.
And your right most have where they buy their pools from set them up. However sometimes I really need to have my head read. Hubby and I figured if they could do it then so could we..........lol Well yeah we did it and it looks just like it would if they had come in and done it but and that is a big BUT I will never ever again put up a pool:)

Heavenhelpme:

The water is warm...........come on over.

Woke up early this morning.......4am and took a nice refreshing dip in the pool for a half hour. Then got dressed for work and headed off. It was a hot one for sure. But the thought of a pool waiting to be jumped into kept me going with no problem:)
As soon as I got home that is exactly where I headed. Laural also came in for a dip and we spent about a hour and a half just floating on the lounges we have and yakking. I love spending time like this with my daughter. I am truly going to miss her when she goes off to school.

Tommorrow morning I am going to go and pick strawberries with a friend and then I will make some homemade jam. I need to do about 24 jars this year. Some to send off to school with Laural and a few jars for my youngest brother. The rest for here and probably a couple to give to friends when they find out I have made some.........lol

Sunday I don't have any plans and hopefully can spend it doing absolutely nothing.........lol

Breakfast

Fresh Strawberries
Fresh Pineapple
1 Hard boiled egg

Lunch

Large Salad with tuna and Ranch dressing

Supper

Ham
Salad with FF Itialian dressing
Spinach (from my garden)

Snack

Watermelon

8 bottles of water so far today(happy with this)

Hello there dear Lady!

It's been a good while, so I thought I would stop by and say hello. I see you are having some mighty hot weather up there in Canada too. We are suppose to cool down in a couple days, and I am hoping they got it right!

Oddly enough, even though I float like a log, I don't care for the water much. We don't have a pool, but we have 2 ponds, and I don't bother cooling off in them either. We don't even have a/c either!! Generally speaking our extremely hot weather is short lived here, and the rest of the summer, although very warm is not unbearable. Well, not for me at least. So I tough out the hot days, and make the most of the very early morning hours when it's cool and easy to move around. Like weeding in my garden this morning about 6:30 am.

Anyway, I just wanted to see how you've been doing (quite good I see) and to say hello. Take care and give my best to Laural.

Hi Judy: Just dropping in to see you for a bit...
Glad you are enjoying the pool especially with the heat wave we have been having...It hit 35 here today.humidex not factored in....I thought of you doing your route...My God woman, you are tough.lol..It was hot, and has been hot since Friday..and no change in sight till at least Friday....

We have central air so it is not bad and the car is air conditioned so it helps...

I am sure you enjoy the time you are spending with Laurel in the pool...Summer is so short and before you know it she will be gone to school...
Strawberries are not that nice yet..hope they get bette...so much for the bumper crop they predicted... I bought half a flat (6 little baskets) $8 am I am sure they were not picked the same day...Maybe I should go and pick berries...Would not mind if it was cooler...may still do that as i like some in the freezer....

How is Marcie doing? Has she healed or is that on going?

Well take care....stay cool and enjoy your summer with your daughter...Enjoy that pool...lol....You guys worked hard enough for it...

Time is flying by quickly this summer. And I have to admit I am spending most of my time outdoors enjoying it. We are having a heat wave here which most don't like. But for me BRING IT ON. I would much rather walk in the heat than in the cold cold months of winter. Plus I know at the end of my day I can come home and jump in the pool:)
There is less than a month now till my daughter heads off for school. Where has the time gone............wasn't it just yesterday she was getting ready for grade 1...........lol
Over the last couple of months I have been buying things she will need for school
