i imagine it's about time to jump on the "new year, new journal" bandwagon and start a fresh new journal. as for the title, well, i thought it was a nice image to keep myself with during these icy, frigid months. i'm just going to keep repeating to myself under my jacket... "sun-drenched roadside sun-drenched roadside..."

now is as good a time as ever to take a glance at what has changed in my life since i happened upon diettalk back in june. wow, it's hard to imagine it was really all that long ago. i've lost 18 lbs, i'm a year older, i found a realistic weight loss plan that works for me, i now comfortably fit medium sized shirts rather than large, my body has lost it's ability to digest trans-fats (a.k.a. the cheeseburger incident), (http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43648&page=10&pp=10) i've developed a freakishly healthy attitude towards eating (only diet soda, only wheat bread, i'd rather jump naked into a pool of piranhas than eat a krispie kreme doughnut), i've made many good friends here, and i've developed a sense of confidence that i seriously lacked and needed.

not bad for 6 months, but there are still many more goals i'd like to meet for myself in the coming year. i'd like to work harder at incorporating regular cardio and weight training into my daily routine, i'd like to let go of my caffeine addiction (NEVER!!!!! X-( ) and discover the benefits of drinking water, and i'd like to develop greater willpower so that i don't continue to slow down my weight loss. that's just to name a few. i'm hoping beth's boot camp will help me with those goals for the time being.

and so, thus concludes my little retrospective on 2004. now i'll leave you with a few photos that i feel adequately express both my commitment to weight loss, and my total lack of maturity.

Besides that, you're way past the turning point, aren't you. BTW, for a minute you scared me there. I thought you liked Wal-mart! Where's your post about that? I'd love to see it.

You know, Brandon, even when you get to goal, you're going to want to eat healthy and keep exercising for life so that you can have a healthy life and prevent all kinds of diseases, not to mention emotional trauma. I bet most of the people here wish they would have gotten this under control as a teenager.
