View Full Version : Q & A - for healthy living boot camp - If you have a question, please post it here...
Being as there are so many posts in the thread, I have decided to create this Q & A thread. I think a lot of questions are getting over looked and I don't want to do that.
So from now on if you have a question, please post it here.
Much Appreciated,
Beth :peace:
Vanessa_40 01-06-05, 10:40 AM Can i start now ..i would love to do this...
Vanessa
You sure can, Vanessa and Welcome again. Just go over to http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45521 and post your goals (think those out good first, two weeks is a long time). Get familiar with the guidelines and check out the chart to track your progress (I'll update it tonight). Come online often to support others and share how you've been doing. You can do this and we're here to help! Sue
Vanessa_40 01-06-05, 10:58 AM Thank you Sue..this is just what i need to get myself back on track..i'm slowly inching my way back to the 220 i was at 3 years ago..i'm at 140 now..was at 130 before Thanksgiving..this morning i will think about what goals i want to set and will post them later..thanks again...
Vanessa
Good for you, Vanessa, on getting it back under control before you hit that all important 20 pound mark! Sue
vickilyn2806 01-06-05, 01:55 PM Hi,
I have a question. I am thinking about possible phase 2 goals. Do we keep our phase 1 goals and add on with new ones? Or start fresh with all new goals?
Thanks for providing such a wonderful challenge for us.
Vickie:pass:
Hi,
I was thinking the same thing that Vickie was about Phase 2. Also, since we now have our own forum for the boot camp, will you be adding a thread telling us when you add a challenge? I, like many, are realizing how daunting it is to go through pages of responses a day and we certainly don't want to miss out on your challenges. Thanks for all the help and effort.
Ikatiana, if the intent of your goal was to exercise and that's what you're going to do (whether it be at class or w/a video), I would say that's okay. I think you should be commended for continuing to exercise, no matter how you're "forced" to do it due to unavoidable circumstances. We certainly need consistency, but sometimes it takes a judgement call on each of our individual parts. It guess it's a fine line, though, so Beth, please correct me if I'm wrong. Sue
Sue: Ikatiana, I'm going to copy and answer your question in the question thread (http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45713) so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. :-) Sue
Ikatiana: I'm having a dilemna with my goals today, so I dont know if I'll have to start over. Everybody at my job called in but two people; a day and evening person. SO, I started work last night at 10:30 and I'm staying until tommorow at 6:30am; I have an hour break right now to shower and grab some clothes. Is it ok to substitute an exercise video in place of my class, bc I can't go? If so, then I can keep going, if not, I start over. Stupid weather Let me know!
Ummm, I need Beth to answer this one. We talked about this issue coming up, but I can't remember what was decided. I think it was that at the successful completion of a phrase, you can change your goals to whatever you want, you just can't change them when you have to rephrase? Does that make sense? Sue

That's a very good idea, Kris. One place JUST for that, but we'll have to remember to keep it just to that, know what I mean?, or we'll be having 10 threads going, each 500 pages long all jumbled together and then it really will get confusing! I think Beth will be doing the special add-on challenges and she knows the technical stuff about adding threads and such, so I'll defer to her on that as well. Sue

Oh, one more thing, when questions get asked and answered (the final answer) here, I will add the answers to the guidelines so it stays updated for everyone in one central place and so that we stay consistent (don't want to be wishy-washy). I hate scrolling to find an old post, don't you? :)
Q & A
1. yes, when you complete a phase you can change your goals - note the word complete - not a re phase! Re phase are the same goals as when you signed up for that specific phase - goals can be changed as your enter a new phase #.
2. the number of pages should lower as phase 1 comes to a end - as a lot of members will be moving on to phase 2 - which will have its own separate thread and same with phase 3 etc. which in turn also gives phase 1 its own thread.
We will develop new threads as we see the need too - we are learning as we go here lol
When I started this I never thought it would get this big, so we are working out the bugs little by little......
3. To see additional challenges and such that I throw in from time to time, I may make a Beth type thread where only I can post at, and that way everyone can just check and be sure to read those notes, to be sure they are not missing anything important - still in the thought process - bear with me please :)
4. Ikatiana - I 100% agree with Sue.

sweetpea 01-10-05, 06:05 PM hi there
is the regular chat still going to happen? thanks
nebraska 01-10-05, 08:34 PM I was reading posts this morning and I was on page 46. Later, when I came back to look for new messages, the last message of the thread was on page 30-something....... how did that happen? Are the archives compressed or are some messages deleted? It confused me since I thought I had noted where I quit reading (46) so I could go back and start reading where I left off.
sweetpea - yes it is in the planning :)
nebraska - I went back and looked and everything was the way it was when I was here this morning + additional posts - sorry not sure what the confusion is/was........
Beth :peace:
kmsmit3 01-10-05, 09:28 PM I want to start this boot camp when i'm back at my apt where it's easier for me to prepare my own meals and i have a more clear cut schedule. However, how would i go about starting phase 1 when so many people will already be on phase 2?
Kelly
Kelly, when you're ready to start, go to thread #1 and post your starting/ending date and your goals. You will proceed through the phases from there. If you have any questions as you progress, let us know. I'm so glad you're interested and I hope it's helpful to you. Sue
sweetpea 01-10-05, 10:13 PM there seem to be more threads per page...
Blanche 01-10-05, 10:18 PM I had the same problem as sweetpea - I was on page 44 before when I was reading posts (maybe Sun. evening - not sure exactly when) and now there are only about 32 pages
I am going to bring in the main man on this page problem = John :D
Let me PM him and him or sue will post whats going on........
Beth :peace:
sweetpea 01-10-05, 11:24 PM actually i liked having more posts per page - do you think it could be increased permanently? when there are several new pages it is a pain to read. 20 per page would be great lol :D
sweetpea 01-10-05, 11:25 PM oops i mean there are 15 per page and it is MUCh better. can you pls let him know i like it!!!
So there's not a problem? Are you sure? I can PM John to cancel. Thanks, Sue
sweetpea 01-11-05, 12:32 AM i'm sure
nothing is missing just that there are more messages on each page!
sweetpea 01-11-05, 12:33 AM i sent a pm to beth to tell her... so she should already know, but haven't recd a reply yet
Thanks sweetpea for figuring this out for us :D
I was off line early last night with a migraine coming on.........sorry.
Yes, sweetpea is correct - John PM me and said he has added more posts to pages so that is what is going on :)
Beth :peace:
nebraska 01-11-05, 09:47 PM Thanks for looking into this. It makes sense to me now, and I agree more posts per page is easier to read!
How late is too late for joining?
It's never too late - people are jumping in and joining almost daily or "some" of us ( ME ! ) are re phasing - which is kinda like joining again and again and again lol
no really, DJ - you can start phase 1 at any time, please be sure to read the guidelines at first post at phase 1 :)
Beth :peace:
Thanks, Beth..... I have printed out all your posts with the guidelines and read them all to make sure it was something I could make a commitment to. I get a little nervous about it, but I've read that other people felt like that, too. I've been floundering and started to gain back what I've lost, so I need to do something! I joined Monica's "I CAN" and I'm going to give the boot camp a go....
Thanks for including me. I'll figure out my goals for the next 2 weeks and join up sometime today.
LOL.... hopefully this won't be like the time I went through NAVY bootcamp! Anyone remember Private Benjamin??? *grin* 8-|
nebraska 01-24-05, 10:32 AM Will there be a thread for this challenge where we are to report who we contacted, what their response to us was, etc? Just want to know what all the steps are to complete my challenge.
Nebraska your on your honor - thats it :D

kmsmit3 02-01-05, 01:26 AM Hi i have a quick question and it might be a no duh question. I'm starting my boot camp phase 1 tomorrow feb. 1st but there is no where for me to post my 2 posts a week...because the dates don't meet mine..is that ok? should i just post in the 1/28-2/11 one?
Kelly?
Hi Kelly. Because everyone's start/end dates are different, we decided to have "general post" threads for every two weeks. So, yes, post in the current open thread (1/28-2/11). Welcome Kelly. Jump right in and get active. It really does help. Sue
ok this is GREAT!!! i wanna get started on Feb 7...so i would finish off on the open thread (1/2-2/11) and then swtich to the next 2 week thread even though i'll still be in phase 1??
HI Beni and :welcome:
Yes, you are correct - everyone posts in the current thread no matter what phase/day you are on - it does help to post your day/phase in your posts - if you want people to know where you are - or if your like me and forget yourself where you are at lol
Phase 1 - Day 10
Beth :peace:
nebraska 02-05-05, 09:42 AM What happens when we finish phase 3? Do we "graduate" and get thrown out of boot camp??? :c( I have had such success here I don't want to leave. Setting the two-week goals and making my check lists is part of it but the accountability and the group support is a big part of what is helping me succeed.
Unlike the army or such we never let you leave lol - do you remember the old song Hotel California? You can check in but never check out lol
No really - when i first set this up I went up to Phase 3 in my brain and stopped
But since then the guidelines have been changed and allow for any number of any phases for you to complete..... even at maintenance :)
Guidelines Are Here (http://www.icarepetcare.com/bccGuidelines.htm)

nebraska 02-05-05, 10:45 PM Thanks, Beth! I remember reading some changes to the guildelines but I didn't remember seeing the changes that allow us to continue indefinitely. Thank you so much!
Hi. I wanted to post the answer to a question here in case anyone else was wondering. Sue
Question: Hi I am a little confused on where I am suppose to post once I 've put in my goals. I am now in phase 2 until Feb. 15 and I don't know where I should be writing just to let others know how I am doing. I want to talk to others who are in phase 2 or who would just want to talk about how they are doing so please HELP!!!!
thanks Leslie
Answer: Hi Leslie. Sorry for the delay in answering your question. Outside of the special threads for posting the goals of the particular phase that you're in (example: Phase 2...Post your goals here), all other posts go in the open thread with the current two week's dates (example: Healthy Living Boot Camp 1/29-2/11/05, click here to go straight to that thread: http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46177). At the end of the current two weeks, a new thread will be opened with the dates 2/12-26, and then you just start posting there. I hope that's clearer than mud.
Thank you Sue :D for everyting I now understand.
