View Full Version : Losing where you really dont want to lose
smallfri 02-12-05, 05:54 PM Ok my thread before was about being the same weight but in a differnt size. Now how is you lose where you really dont want to lose. I tried on an outfit that fits but now is to big on the top. So discouraging. But it looks nice so that is important. But this always happens and I think this is where I get discouraged. I lose above the waist first and then I lose below but I will be at my ideal before my body will look good. So now I guess its just time to find things that will tone me up on the bottom, I am hoping the bike will help.
That is correct, also if the out fit you bought is worth it how about having thei top part taken in and then it will fit you like a glove. Work out with weights for your bottom part and you will see a change in your body. Good luck :D
Hi, I just heard something the other day that might help here.
We all know that men lose faster than women, and they said that is because men have alot of their bulk on their upper body, and this is the weight that goes first. Whereas women carry alot of their weight around their middle or lower body and this is the weight that moves last. So your example fits right in with this.
Just hang in there and keep doing what you know is right.
mugwump 02-12-05, 09:08 PM Why not try a little weight lifting for your upper body? I don't mean big heavy barbells at the gym with a lot of sweaty guys (although that does have its attractions...lol). But get some small hand weights, or just use cans of soup or juice to start.
Lift them a whole lot of times, over and over until your muscles get a little tired. You can do this while watching the TV and it keeps your mind off snacking. If you can build a little extra muscle, it burns calories faster, and if it's in your upper body, maybe that will help that top fit better!

JessicaL2005 02-12-05, 10:02 PM I know what you're going through!!! I've got more around my hips and my stomach, and less and less on my chest, I started a DD and now I've noticed my C cup is a little...not full? :c( I keep telling myself I don't care, my friends say if I can always go buy myself some new ones, but if my hips could just get smaller and my chest stayed the same I'd be really happy!
But, I've also noticed this month that my body is changing, I haven't been losing a lot this month, but I notice I have less fat around my back and under my arms, and my hips are getting narrower, and my thighs don't seem be carrying as much fat all over, now most of the fat seems to be concentrated in my inner thighs, and I've gone down half a shoe size, I guess I have less fat around my feet too! A few months ago I kept noticing how much fat I was retaining around my back and now its slowly going away, so, I guess the best thing to do is just wait and see, eventually your body will decide where to keep the fat and where to get rid of it, and in the meantime, maybe do exercises that focus on those areas that seem to be a little more stubborn!
jessica your messages make me really excited....i have lost weight before but have put it back on and you remind me what its like to rediscover your slim body all over again...i cant wait :) once you reach your healthiest weight then youll know how your suppose to be proportioned and plus theres lots of pretty bras that can make you feel 'big bosomed' again lol!

Mugwump, that is great advice, build up your upper body a bit, just some nice muscles, you will never get big muscles, so don't even go there.
It will balance out your silouette nicely.
mugwump 02-15-05, 09:17 PM I found this great site - it has these animations that show you a whole bunch of different weight lifting exercises. It shows you how to do them and what muscles are targetted. http://www.eas.com/training/animations.asp Some need gym equipment, but a lot of them you can just do with dumbells. I particularly like the ones you do on your back. I keep my little dumbells right beside the bed and do them first thing in the morning before I even get up.
I figure if I do the chest exercises my chest will get bigger. The breasts that sit on top of those muscles will look bigger. Back exercises that target the upper back might also work. Abs of course - hopefully to flatten that tummy, and the arm and shoulder, will help me build a better shape on top and great tone in the upper arms. I'm hoping some of that floppy flab will just go away. I remind myself too much of a card with someone waving on the front that said "what's shakin'" and on the inside it said besides the fat under my arms!

JessicaL2005 02-16-05, 03:30 PM I went running on Monday morning and I was holding up my jogging pants because they were falling off my hips! They were always looser around the waist and snug around the hips but the hips are coming in more. I've lost about 4 pounds this month, this month its coming off the hips and stomach. I'm excited about being able to shop for the pretty bras again, it will be nice to get something that's not white black or nude! Maybe if I'm lucky enough I'll be able to get a bra off on of the display tables, haha. I don't know though, its going to take some underwire to push what I've got up and some really strong straps to keep them up! Maybe some duct tape would work!
Get a La Perla Bra, I swear they are anti-gravity devices. Plus, I have to say for my breast shape, nothing fits better. Though I just have a suspicion that they really really just know how to cut a bra. Yea, expensive-- but check on ebay or other places for bargains, they're affordable if you look a bit.
These days I'm loosing in my hips and my breasts-- but lately just the breasts *sigh* I went from a 40C to a 38C and I have a feeling I'm gonna end up at a small 36C, which is what I was at in highschool. I'm happy about my hips though-- down 11 inches from last year... its a little mind-boggling.
nicotina 02-25-05, 10:15 PM Oggie- how did you get 11 inches off your hips?! Please share any tips, I seem to be losing inches everywhere except the hips. :(
Well, mostly I changed what I was eating first, and the pounds just came off... and also I walked about 40 minutes every day... not vigorous walking, just plain old walking to work walking. I'm pretty sure the walking helped though, because my butt looks better than it did when I was 18.
