Hi, I just needed to vent some feelings out. okay at the begging of last year I was a size 3, well thats awesome I thought, then within 2 months I went to a 5, okay not too bad thats healthy right? then a size 9, thats what I am right now. But see heres why I am so mad, that stupid depo shot did this to me, I want off of it but my Mom dosent want me to, I have tried other types of birthcontroll but this one seems to be the one that works. But now I think, if Ikeep gaining weight like this I am going to be obse soon and I really dont want that, because that runs in my family, already I am over weight (considereing my height 5'2) and ARG I am so mad I hate HATE shopping for stupid clothes because I can never find the right size that fits, and also, I have another problem, but I really dont want to talk about that because it is extreamly embarassing to me and I have seen three different doctors about it and they all seem to be baffled. Yeah I am just venting my anger out about my self. Sorry

I am by no means an authority on BC, but if you are taking it to control your cycle and not because you are sexually active why don;t you get off of the Depo?
Or why don't you start exercising to counter the weight gain effect?

You should ask your doctor to try another form of BC. I have always heard that Depo shots make people gain. I have a few friends who have gained quite a bit of weight on that shot.
I used to be on the patch, but stopped taking it in December. I gained more than 10 pounds on the patch, and went from a size 2 or 4 to an 8. My boobs went from a B to a D--- it was no picnic! Now I don't use any hormonal methods, and I'm much happier.
If you have irregular periods, the regular Pill is supposed to help with that, too, and there are low-dose varieties. Your gyne should work with you to check that out.
Also, if you are on the pill to control your period. You may want to pick up a copy of the book "Fertility and Nutrition". Even though this book is geared towards women trying to get pregnant, it contains detailed information about the kinds of dietary changes that can help people with irregular periods. (It also advises you to see a doctor).
The book is pretty neat because it explains that a lot of people who suffer from irregular menses or terrible PMS have problems because they are not getting enough calcium, potassium, vitamin B-12, and folate. (As a victim of terrible PMS... I can say that reading the book and changing my diet REALLY changed my life. I hardly have any PMS symptoms anymore).
