A journal I would never have thought I would keep one on the net but, then I never would have thought I would be as big as I am now either. All the old ways I used to lose weight does not help and were not the right ways either. In January I was in a contest and lost 16lbs and I dont want to let my family know I have already gained back 5 of those pounds back. I feel lost and out of control. Working out has never been the problem eating correct portions sizes and keeping focus especially when I feel stress is.
I'm married, live in Texas one son in the Airforce who is stationed in Kuwait/Iraq. I've always had a weight problem ever since I can remember and have been a yoyo going down and up depending on what is going on with my life. I want to bring my weight back down to a 120-124 lbs. My current weight is 157.5 and eating ice cream this morning for breakfast and coffee just made me feel even worse than I already feel about myself. YOu would think that if I can excel and manage my office and employees I could do the same with my weight but, this does not seem to be the case. My weight is a real struggle. I know I can't give up and I know I do well by being accoutable so I will continue to keep everyone posted on this journey. Also, thanks for everyone who has given me some encouragement already.

With a name like JoJoRunner you have got to be a relative of mine. LOL.

Yes, losing weight is a difficult thing to do. We have all these habits, like ice cream for breakfast, that are hard to break. But here are Diettalk there is lots of great advice and encouragement.

So here is some advice. Plan your day. Plot out your eating. Surely there is something available that would be a better breakfast than ice cream. Maybe it wouldn't be as tasty, but it might be healthier.

Take little steps. Do not expect immediate success. It took you a while to gain the weight, it will take you a while to lose it.

Increase your exercise. That is, park at the far end of the parking lot rather than as close as you can get to the door. Walk up a flight of stairs instead of using the elevator. Little things like that help increase your metabolism.

Increase your water intake. Especially in the hot summertime we need to keep our bodies hydrated.

One thing I find helpful for me is to plan alternative exercises for when I am tempted to eat something I really shouldn't eat. Things like take a walk around the block, write a letter, phone a friend, brush my teeth, read a book, etc. are helpful to me. You get the picture.

You are obviously an intelligent woman, you can do this. And every day that you eat a healthier mix of foods you are making yourself healthier. That is important, no matter what our age.

And keep posting here at Diettalk. Writing down how we feel is helpful. Writing down what we eat is helpful.

So the best of luck to you as you lost those unwanted lbs. It is difficult, but it can be done. Really it can.

Hi, JJ-runner!!! Congratulations on your new journal and the pounds you've already lost (even if you gained 5 back, you've still had a net weight loss/maintenance of ELEVEN pounds in approximately six pounds and that's a significant achievement)!!! Dinna feel like the Lone Rangerette w' the yo-yo thing ... all of us have been there ... it's frustratin' and a pain, isn't it? But you'll take care o' that in a flash now that you've made the decision.

The ice cream and coffee sound delish ... I'da put the ice cream IN the coffee and added chocolate probably, so doesn't sound like you did so badly at all in that regard, at least from my decadent perspective! :)
