View Full Version : Once Upon A Time....

Once upon a time there was a fat girl who turned into a fat woman.

That is only the begining of the story.

Today I'm in the middle where things start to turn around.

For the first time in my life I have food under control, and I am exercising 3 times a week.

Four weeks ago, I weighed a whopping 301lbs. None of my clothes fit and I found I had nothing to wear to cover my body. I was desperate.
I decided to join Curves. For the past three weeks, I have been working out three times a week.
After a week and a half of playing around, I finally got my food under control. I a following the Curves low carb diet plan. I have decided I will not add those thing I use to use when I was on Atkins. I will not use low carb cereals or bread crumbs. No low carb pancakes and syrup, no low carb brownies and no low carb candies. These things are dangerous to me. I know if I don't play with them, then I don't crave them.
I am now feeling better about myself. I have more energy and I can now get into my jeans again.
On Aug 21, I'll be weighing in and they'll also be taking my measurments. I can't wait. I know I'm down. I know those pants fit.

So this is where it gets interesting. Once upon a time, life was the same, eating and eating and eating. Now life is so much more.

Who knows how the story ends, but for now, all I know is it's a page turner.

Good for you! I feel the same way most days, and it's so hard to be good every single day. I need to take my measurements too, to give me something to look back on a few months from now when I might need the encouragement.

Congratulations on comfortable pants!! :cheer:

Thanks Mrs. Me. I am really "feeling it" this time. I have no idea what my measurments were 3 weeks ago when I joined curves, but I really think I'll see an improvment. Like you said, it's nice to look back at your progress especially when things get tough.

Wonderful thing happened this morning. On our way to the arena, we saw a mama deer run across the road, soon followed by her baby. Guess it's getting that time of year again. Going to have to start watching out for those beautiful creatures.

Tomorrow's plan

Going to maybe try a protein shake. Not sure about that yet.
Will go to the arena for 7:30am = While Reilly does power skating, I'll hang with the girls and prob go to Timmies (coffee shop)

Will come home and clean my house.

Not much else going on.
Lunch will be some kind of meat or fish and veggies.

Dinner the same.

Been drinking much more water then I use to thanks to Curves. I've also substituted half my coffees for green tea.

Well, almost done this page, so I'll say goodnight.

Around here they say it's good luck to see a deer on a journey. I don't know if that's true, but it is definitely good luck not to run into one! We're starting to see them around here too, a few days ago one ran out in front of the car in front of us. Luckily it made it across the street and everyone was safe.

Have a good night!

 You are too funny Mrs. Me. Guess it would be good not to run into one.
I know a few who have and they can do quite alot of damage.

Today

Well, so far, I decided to have a FF, SF yogurt for breakfast.
Been to the arena already and had my Timmys
Totally forgot I have an appt in the city to have my oil changed and tires rotated. I hope they put air in them too cause my tire light is on.

Gas is so outragous. I'm going through $20 a day. Gawd, when Reilly starts his travel hockey, it's gonna be a killer.

Looking forward to lunch today. I'm going to pull some chicken breast and boil some cabbage and spinach. Perhaps a salad too.

No Curves today.
I would walk while waiting for my van, but there is nowhere to walk. No sidewalks and it's a busy road.

Well, I must be off.

Have a wonderful day.

It's that time of year again. Birthday time. I'm 23. Tomorrow I'll be "22, I'll be 23 on my next birthday" again  No really, I am now 34 (time to use it) YEARS YOUNG.

TODAY'S PLAN.

Leave in 10 mins to go to the arena. Come home for 9:30 and leave again at 10 with Reilly to go to run the track to build his hockey muscles.

Should finally be home at 1pm. Will eat my lunch. I have fry steaks to cook and I have a veggie stir fry already made.

Tonight I'm off to two rounds of bingo. Who knows maybe I'll win.

Somewhere in there, I need to do some laundry too.

Well, I must be off. Got to get Bry-Anne's hockey equipment together. (Yup, she does the hockey thing too)

Have a wonderful day.

Hey, Happy Bday! I just found your journal. Good luck on the 21'st! Oh, and when I did low carb last year I really liked to do this:

one large chicken breast, put into a plastic bag and then flattened fried with a bunch of dried herbs and spices (including paprika!) with a bit of cream cheese put in the middle and then the whole thing rolled up. So good and very low carb

too bad I'm cal counting, lol

:oWOW, THANK YOU ALL, FOR THE WARM BIRTHDAY WISHES.
rikkij, Kelsey, Anne, and Vulgarian, so nice to meet you. Thank you for stopping in and visiting me. Please feel free to come by any time. I look forward to it.
Crazy and Maxi, you guys have been there for me ... forever... it seems. Thanks again for the b-day wishes and the years of support.

Mrs. Me- thank you my friend. By the time I get use to being 34, I'll be turning 35

Crazy- Thank you for the beautiful flower angel. ;)

Maxi- Thanks for the song. Now I've got the tune in my head  So glad you're back.

Kelsey- That sounds yummy. I'm gonna try it. Thanks. I'm gonna try it with the veggie flavor cream cheese. I've really taken a liking to it.

Well, got half my day over. Did the arena thing, did the gym thing, and now I'm ready to make dinner. Gonna make myself some fried chicken breasts. I perfer them fried rather then baked in the oven. Low carbing I don't have to worry about the "fry"crap as much. I fry in Pam cooking spray anyway.

Oh I'm such a LIAR! Yesterday I said no Curves. Well, I did end up going. So I have two days in this week. Wanted to go again today, but thought I should stay at the arena and watch Bry-Anne skate. Besides it's not healthy to go 3 days in a row, or so they tell me. I'll be going tomorrow.

Soon will be leaving to go to BINGO!!:caf:Bingo Bingo Bingo.... just practicing for when I yell it later.

Tomorrow's Plan

Up at 7am, bring Reilly to the track for 9am. Drop him off back home after, go to Curves, get fake nail fixed (maybe on that one) then get groceries. Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to get some laundry done.
Decided not to take Erin to art tomorrow night so I'll have the night off.

Tomorrow will be my, workout, 3x a week, for the first month. I'll get my free Curves water bottle... Woopie!!
LOL.

Well my dinner awaits, and so does Bingo Bingo Bingo.

Thanks again for the birthday wishes.

Mrs.Me- Had lots of fun at Bingo, but didn't win a dime. Oh well, maybe next time.

Bell- Glad you found me :D I only just started this journal a few days ago. Before I was only here at DT now and again.
I really love Curves. Very easy on the body, but still getting your heart pumpin.

Beth- Thanks for the b-day wishes my friend. Had a great day. After all my running around, I took it easy and didn't clean a thing LOL.

Today

Curves, but no fixing my now 2 broken nails, or grocery shopping. Will have to go tomorrow. Hey, maybe I'll hit Curves again after my perm.

Oh, don't know if I mentioned, but I'm getting big hair tomorrow. I know the 80s are coming back so I thought I'd get a head start and get big hair LOL. No, really, I'm getting a spiral perm. Will take forever cause I have such long and thick hair.
That's part of my b-day gift. I'm really excited about it.

Anyway, it's almost time to drive the 45mins to the track with Reilly.

So nice to see you all here.

Have a wonderful day.

I always get excited about hair appointments. I guess I'm a girly girl!

They have public bingo here, and I've always wanted to try it, just for fun. Maybe I will! I so never win, though. My family does this Christmas Bingo game on Christmas Eve. We play with M&M markers (THAT'S dangerous! ) Anyway, my little sister always beats me!

rickkij- I was so excited about my appt. that I got there a bit early. I coundn't sleep any more so I figured why not. I got there before they did LOL.
M&M bingo... that sounds interesting, and yes, very dangerous.

Beth- I'll post them in a few days. I still have to go back Tues and get my hair cut. The girl who rolled my hair had to leave for a funeral and the other girls pitched in to take them out. They didn't have time to cut it cause they had their own customers waiting.

MC- Glad you found me too. I am really feeling positive and am enjoying my workouts and food plan. Got my water bottle yesterday for going 3X a week for the first month. Figures my weight is a bit up (cause I have lost since I posted my stats, just don't have an official weight). It's up because TOM is due any day. I'm sure that will reflect in my weigh in on Monday. Oh well. I know I'm still down and the inches have come off.

Today

Got my big hair. Took 4 hours, but it's done. I like it. Dan has yet to see it, but I'm sure he'll love it.

Brought Reilly to hockey tryouts. OMG!!!! All the work he's done this summer is payed off in spades. He was skating circles around everyone. And he made it look easy, like he was just casually skating. He was by far the best out there. I don't mean to brag or just say that cause he's my son, it's the honest to God truth.

Now I can't wait till Sunday where he has his second tryout.

Tomorrow

Think I'm gonna sleep in a bit. Sleep sounds nice.
Then I have to drive Reilly to his power skating class(a small 45min drive8-|)
Once we get back, I'll go pick up my daughter from my BIL. She's spending the night so she can go to a dance tonight. I had no way to get her there since I was out of town at Reilly's tryouts.

Food is good, but not eating enough. Need groceries TOMORROW! So gonna add that to tomorrows list too.

Well, I had better get going. Dan is on his way home from work.

Have a goodnight.

Have a nice weekend!...Keep up the good work!

Yeppers, TOM arrived today :( Hope weigh in turns out ok.

I'll take a few pics as soon as I get my hair cut Tuesday.

What a day.

Got Reilly to his second try out. Thought we were going to be late. I stayed for a parents meeting while he got suited up, then I left to go get a coffee. I got back to find one of the moms waiting for me to tell me Reilly is in tears cause he forgot his helmet at home (35 min drive one way) I run out and buy him another one and make it back just in time for him to go on the ice. The thing is way way to big, but for an hour it'll do.
I did return it and explained to them that he did use it but it was to big and they took it back no problem. Not something I like doing, but we were really in a jam.
As a result of the big helmet, Reilly's center of gravity was off and he didn't skate his best, but still did well.

Food was great, even went out for dinner tonight and still eat right on plan.

Tomorrow

Up early and head to the arena for Reilly's shooting clinic. Drop him off then head to Curves. After he's done, we drive 45 mins to the gym where he'll have his workout.
Home for cooking, cleaning and laundry. Head out again at 5pm for our 35 min ride to the arena where Reilly has his 3rd hockey tryout.
Back home and -BED!!!

Speaking of which, I'm heading there now.

Have a good night.

rickkij and MC, thanks for stopping in.
Yes, Reilly is my 10 year old son. Last year he played travel hockey and is now trying out for the team again this year. In May he tried out for the AAA team, which is the highest difficulty level there is until you get older. He was made an associate player (AP) which means he gets to go and practice with that team and may fill in when needed. The kids who tried out for that team come from all over the county and only 15 kids made it and 3 were AP-ed. Not including goalies.
He started last season as a forward and was moved to defence. He has now been trained for both. Not sure what position he'll play this year.
I'm 99.999% certain he'll make the team. There were only 22 kids that tried out. And we only need 14. I really believe he's the best on the team, but ok, maybe the top 3.

Today,

Did the 90 minutes at the arena this morning, the 45 minute drive to the gym, the 45 minutes back. Did Curves in there too.
Tonight, Reilly tried out again, and he did awsome again. So proud of him.

You know, by the sounds of things, I only have one child. I have 3 and two of them are wonderful girls. Erin, my 14 year old, will be starting Bass guitar lessons in Sept. She won an award for her playing in June.
She is also a talented artist and will be entering her paintings in our local fair Labour Day Weekend.
Bry-Anne is 7 and is also a hockey player. Beyond that, we aren't sure what she's going to get into. I have a very good feeling it may have to do with ACTING!!!

Anyway, back to today,

I did my weigh in at Curves. I have lost 13lbs, and 14.5 inches. That's a total of 17.5 points. For every 20 points, you get a t-shirt or something. So, today I got a Curves Canada t-shirt, and 7.5 points toward my next shirt :)

Better report..... food is good, but TOM is making me crave chocolate. Had an Atkins Advantage bar, and two Endulge bars. That fixed me right up.

Well, it has been a long day and my bed is calling.

Have a wonderful day.

rikkij- I try to keep the kids active. I really missed out on that kind of thing as a kid. I think we've been lucky so far to find the things that my kids like and are good at. Well 2 out of 3 of them. Bry-Anne is only 7 and still exploring different things. She's tried dance and hockey and was good at both, but I don't think they are really her thing. She's still in hockey, but were still looking for her "thing".
Thanks for the cheers:o

Bell- Tomorrow I'm gonna do my hair up and take my pic. I finally got it cut today. Will try posting it sometime tomorrow.

Beth- Thanks for the cheers. :o You guys make me blush.

Mrs. Me- I'll be wearing my shirt tomorrow, a it's Curves day.

Lisrey- So glad you found me. I wasn't hiding out... promise LOL.
I'm really loving Curves. Not sure exactly what it is about it, but what ever it is, it's getting me pumped.

Had my wonderful weigh in, then took 2 days off from my food plan. I don't want to use TOM as an excuse, but my cravings were out of this world. Since low carbing, my cravings were 0 till TOM. Anyway. 2 day and now it's back to work.
Curves tomorrow and eating right.
NO HOCKEY OR ANYTHING RELATED TO HOCKEY TOMORROW:cheer:
Tomorrow I'll go to Curves then get my groceries. Hope to get those 2 nails fixed cause they're driving me crazy.

Monday after Reilly had power skating, we got his skates sharpend at the hardware store. We usually get it done at a place that specializes in sharpening, but it was closed Monday and he really needed it done for his tryouts Monday night.
That night we noticed that he was on his ankles and he complained that he had a hard time stopping and was sliding alot. I thought he skated well besides the ankle thing.
Last night he came to me and said he thought he knew why he was having problems out on the ice. He showed me his skates and I almost died. The hardware store butchered his blades! There was almost no metal left at the toes and heals. They weren't smooth, but were very choppy.
I called our sharpening place and asked them if they had blades in his size skate. We got lucky... they had one pair.
Today I had to spend $60 replacing the blades and having them profiled again. The guys working there gathered around and they just couldn't believe it.
I left the skates for the work to be done and when I returned, I was informed that the owner wanted to keep them to use as a case study. (this guy travels to the NHL teams and teaches their equipment people the hows and whys of skate sharpening)
I didn't say anything to the hardware store, but you'd better be sure I'll never go back.

Well, I'm off to read some journals.
Have a wonderful night.

Ah, you should tell the hardware store they did such a great job sharpening the blades they get to go on tour with the NHL. I'm sure they'll be thrilled. Then slide in the punchline of it's for how not to sharpen skates. Somebody'll break a leg if they aren't careful! X-(

Mrs. Me- You know, you're right. I can bite the bullet about what happened, but I still need to tell them because somebody could get very hurt. I saw the way Reilly was skating and it didn't look good. Perhaps someone else could actually snap their ankle. I had not thought of that.
Thanks. I'll stop in there today after Curves. They are side by side in the same plaza.
Now, to find the nerve to stand up. (always been a fear of mine) The threat of somebody getting hurt is def a nerve I can stand on.

Thank you all for stopping in.

My food has been really sucking this past week. Also been finding lots of excuses not to get to Curves.

I'm GOING tomorrow and for the rest of the week.

I talked to the woman who sharpened Reilly's skates. She was so sorry and thanked me for telling her. She didn't mention anything about compensation, but then I really didn't expect she would. I told her I just want her to be careful and that someone could get hurt. She said she's been doing it for years and nothing like this has ever happened before. (nobody may have noticed) She was going to have the machine looked at. Yeah right!
Reilly made the travel team. Now all his powerskating and shooting clinics are all finished. We wait now for hockey practice and we want to get him into another powerskating clinic that will last the season.

Erin got the rest of her school uniform today. She's excited. (Ha, she'd never had a uniform before and the novelty will soon wear off.)

Well, that's me in a nut shell.

I feel better having bared my soul about my eating and excercise. Now I can get back on track.

Luv ya guys lots

It does seem odd that you'd be the only one in years of doing it - especially since they were sharpened so poorly before. Somebody would have noticed. And in the meantime you can tell everyone you know where NOT to go to get skates sharpened. :D

Dj- Thanks my friend. I was feeling pretty unmotivated there for a while, but I find unloading here helps purge all the bad feelings and I'm able to move on and get back on track.

Lisrey- But but but... I want $200! LOL Guess what. I went to Curves today and did a goog workout. The whole time, you were in my head saying "GO to Curves! Don't walk, do not pass "go," do not collect $200! You have PAID for it, you WANT to get fit, you LIKE Curves. DO IT!" LOL, and I did it. Thanks, I needed that.
As to my hair, I like it ok. It's not as curly as I thought it'd be, but next time I'll try somewhere else. The place I wanted to go was charging almost $200.:( Dan just loves it. He thinks it's the sexiest thing going 8-| MEN!

Mrs Me- You bet I'm telling eveyone not to go there for sharpening. She did Bry-Anne's skates like that too, but she needs new ones anyway so I'm not as worried about hers. Reilly is a much better skater and know how to use them. If something is off, he notices. He likes his blades very sharp. He usually gets 4-6 hours of ice time before he gets them sharpened again and in between sharpenings, we stone them to get out any nicks or burrs.

MC- Reilly says thank you. I say thank you too, I'm back on track and feeling good about it.

Slept in this morning so didn't make the 45 min drive to Reilly's workout at the gym. Thank God! The price of gas has gone up 36 cents over night. I can't afford to be driving an extra hour and a half, to go anywhere!
Thank goodnes I filled up yesterday. Still, I do much more driving then I ever have before. Guess I'd better start saving my pennies. Reilly is in travel hockey which means... traveling and high gas prices.

Went to Curves and did a good workout. Played black jack there. They have a promo that after your workout, you play a hand with them and these huge cards, and you could win a ballot for something or another. Not even sure what it was for. Anyway, I busted. Will try again tomorrow when I go for my workout.

The rest of the day is mine. I have to go see if I have propain in my other tank. Hopely I do so we can BBQ.

Have a good one

Yay for you, going to Curves!!! Keep it up! :cheer:

Maybe if you pass GO & collect $200, you can save it for your next perm at the other place? I think the longer your hair is, the harder it is to keep the curl. The weight of the hair keeps it down, or something. Anyway, I'm so glad you're happy with it!

You are just beautiful. You have a beautiful family too! Thanks for sharing the pics.

I can relate to gas prices. They went from $2.59 to $3.29 almost overnight here. I can't drive anywhere! Time to walk!

Have a great day! :D

Yaaaay...back at Curves!

Your Curves sounds fun and exciting with all those promo's...the one I had joined years back was blahhhhh...blah...blah!

The price of gas is crazy...I paid $2.95 a gallon on Wednesday at a BP nearby and today it was up to $3.15...but...they were sold out...so I had to buy the middle grade which was $2.25...ahhhhhh!!!...I am fearing that the stations around here will run out of gas...they already mentioned a station on the south side is out...and...they were told they did not know when they would get a delivery!!!

My DH works an hour away from home...that will hurt us baaaad!...I am hoping I might be able to carpool with a friend to work (she passes my house everyday)...so that my DH can take our car (instead of his van to work)...to save a little on gas $$$...its a wait and see!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Just thought I'd pass along my calculations on to you.

Our gas prices here are at $1.36 a leter. There are 3.8 leters in a US gallon.
After that, I calculated the difference in the Canadian and US dollar ( about 20 cents on the dollar) and I figure for 10 gallons of gas, if we were to pay in Canadian funds for US gas, my total would be $54.40 and that would be about $5.44 /gallon.

This has always been the norm over here. Prices are going up, but the differences we pay at the pump have always been there. Not only with gas, but with food and clothes too. That's why I like shopping in the States.

Ok, now for some good news LOL. The kids go back to school tomorrow. :cheer:
I can't wait, and neither can they. It's been a long summer. Erin starts high school this year. I even think she's looking forward to her uniform LOL.

Can't stay and chat tonight, Dan is waiting for me...... My luck, I'm getting rid of the kids for the day, and Dan's off for a week :c(

Anyway, Thank you all for stopping in. I'll have to respond to y'all later.

Hope you all had a great Labour Day.

Hi Beth, thanks for stopping in. Dan is taking Reilly to his hockey practice tonight. I'll be taking Erin. At least that's how it's supose to work LOL.

I feeling like I'm posting and running here :(

Getting the kids ready for school. Erin is already gone. She leaves at 7:15. Yesterday was her first day of highschool. I had to go out in the morning, and when I came home, I had a message from the school saying Erin missed her first day and they wanted to know if she still planned on attending that school. I didn't panic. I figured she got lost, and she did. Due to the assembly, she missed her first period (which is also her home room) She went to the wrong room and didn't realize it. Anyway, by the time I called the school back, they had found her.
When she got home, she said she was glad just to sit and not feel rushed around. HA! She's on a semester system where she only takes 4 classes till after x-mas. Can you imagin how rushed she'd be trying to find her way to 8 classes in a day?

Well, I'd better go get ready for Curves. The other two are fighting again anyway.

Yahoo...the kids are back in school!

Yahoo...mom is back at Curves!

I hope all is going well and you are enjoying the bit of freedom you have back...well except for your DH being back home!

How is he doing?...Last time I recall you mentioning he was not taking his meds?

I need meds for my DH...he has missed a lot of work these last two weeks and has no energy to do anything at our new place...he is really messing us up in a bad way!

But...good news for me...I was accepted to work the after school program (more money)...and...I am going to be the new 2nd grade teacher (I had been subbing for her...she just up and retired one month into school)......more info in my journal...hate to write all this here!

Well I hope to talk to you soon!

Have a great day...a great Friday...and a great weekend!
