prettyfat 09-20-05, 04:48 PM Hello all who are reading my journal! I just found this site a few days ago.. I now weigh around 240 and want/need to be around 130 as I am only 5'5. I am a stay at home mom who also works from home, doing orders for things people see on tv. I am also 23 years old and think that this is a good time in my life to make a change. one thing I serioulsy lack: the motovation to keep going. I am not sure what diet to try and am open to whatever suggestions that have worked for you guys. I am not really sure where to start at here but i will from now on post everyday what I ate, so far I had.. a small '6 sub. for breakfast.a small stromboli for lunch.. 3 diet sodas. I will write more later

i m so happy you found DT ,its such a great place to be....regarding your question about what diet to follow...i m not an expert of course, but from my 10 years of experience in dieting and failure before this time....my advice would be " try not to make dramatic changes at once" only one change at a time....
start by loading the house with healthy ,low cal foods that you like and keep them handy so you can reach them whenever you are hungry....2- change the way you cook, instead of frying try using the oven and try not to add oil or butter 3-eat whole grains 3-lots of fruits and veggies 4-eat when you are not too hungry,as when we r so,we usually eat everything in sight. 5- dont aim for more than 1 or 2 pounds loss a week, this is the safest way.
try to do that but dont count calories ,eat these healthy foods till you are full...and you will be amazed by the results...this will be a big change for your body for quite a while and you will lose a lot

What you said to eat is what I usually do when on a diet, the problem is it works, I just stop doing it partly because I am seeing success, or my weight has slowed down and I get inpatient.. and being young I dont have alot of $$ I have found "diet" food is more costly then fatty foods.. My goal is to loose 1 lb per day, if not that then 5lbs per week. Thanks for you advice I will check out your journal!
prettyfat 09-21-05, 10:01 AM Well yesterday was the day I decided to go on a diet..
Today I am really going to put my plan for work, I am still not sure what diet plan to follow I am thinking about weight watchers in a few weeks maybe..
for now I suppose I will just eat healthy and less but more often so I am not hungry. Also I am going to get bottled water and drink 4 bottles a day. I know they say 8 glasses of water but I really dont think I can do that right away!
I find that I see my problems clearer when I write them here in my journal, like yesterday all day I was saying to myself " I am going to work out for 20 mins"
Over and over again just kept thinking it, well I didnt do it, by the time I was ready to I was way too tired. So I said tomorrow I will, and promised myself, so its now tomorrow today, I am giving myself 30 mins of online time before I work out for 20 mins this morning, otherwise I would probably be on line surfing all day, chatting and grabbing some hours to work from my at home job. I am going to log out of here at 9:15 no later and use my work out that I taped the other night. After that I am going to goto the store and get total cereal and skim milk, I am also going to get chicken noodle soup,
for break fast a bowel of ceral and for lunch a can of soup, I am not sure what I am planning for dinner just yet; It will be healthy but light.
I will write more later, hopefully I can stick to this by taking it one day at a time
prettyfat 09-21-05, 01:07 PM Starting today I am only eating a min of 500 cals to - 1,000 cals per day.
So far I had 2 cups of popcorn for breakfast. 60cals
also had my omega 3 vitamin which is 30 cals, with mega t pill
So far I feel good I ate at 9ish. I also had 2 cups of diet coke
For lunch I am having a crispy chicken salad from mcdonals with ranch dressing
400 cals.. For dinner chicken noodle soup which is 150 cals. For a late night snack I will possibly have frozen strawberrys 120 cals
I hope I am successful @ this, I know I need more cals but I am only doing this for a week or so to jump start my diet..
prettyfat 09-21-05, 01:08 PM I just worked out for 10 mins, wanted to for 20 but 10 is all i could do! I guess thats what I get for being so out of shape.. Hopefully I can do the other 10 later on tonight..
prettyfat 09-22-05, 03:50 PM Yesterday I ate about 1,000 cals. Give or take a few. It was the last night of a class I was taking and they had food, So I had a few bites of a side salad, a small handfull of chips, and 2 mini donuts. That *was* my dinner :)

Not much here.. So far today I just watched tv and worked for a few hours.
I had a pb&j sandwhich around 8am, its now going on 3pm I am really hungry but dont have much food in the house. luckly it is payday for hubby so when he gets home hopefully we will go out and I can have something heathly but filling as well. I am really lacking in the engery department, altho I only worked out 15 mins yesterday i am really feeling it everywhere in every part of my body..

dont go too low with the cals as that could be the reason for the lack of energy.good job on getting that exercise in. i remember when i started out i gradually worked up my minutes and intensity..you are doing it the smart way..too much too soon usually means people dont stick with it.

egyptrose 09-25-05, 10:41 AM HI Pretty....as bell said try not to take too litle calories or your body will switch to starvation mode where you will lose some quick pounds at the begining( lot of them will be water), hen you ll get stuck and stop losing as you switch to stavation mode...so take it easy to insure slow steady long term loss...

(but i didnt take it) and paid the price! lol.. not eating enough cals worked for the first 2 and a half days but i was tired all the time! and always thinking about food! on day 3 is when i totally went all out and ate a whole jar of pickels,
2 small bags of chips, and a whole stick of sharp cheese! plus 3 whole course meals i dont even remember anymore! lol it was horrible.. never again!

I have been eating like I normally do, just somewhat more healthy;
and i try not to eat when im bored so much..
i have been on night shift the past two nights because of my job and probably will be from here on out, before I logged on to work, I went on my thredmill for a whole 45 mins! I am sooooo proud of myself! That is the first time I worked out for that long in about 3 years! I wasnt sure if I could do it, but I kept thinking about how good I will look by next summer, how it will help me keep up with my 3 year old on and on with good thoughts every time that little voice said "give up" just get off! well I didnt get off! I walked at a place of 2.5-3 mph.. I am so thrilled I really think I am on my way this time!!!!:super: :dn :jn :dc :cheer: :party:
Be Careful Losing fast isn't always good. It only comes back that much faster when we fall. Take care

hang tough ! Sometimes our bodies "fight" us on this weight loss and we have to hang tough and show it we really mean it - the scale WILL go down ! :D

prettyfat 10-06-05, 05:58 AM Well-- For some reason my weight goes to 292-296 EVERYDAY.. i am not sure this is normal.. I didnt think I was that heavy, but the good news is a jacket of mine now fits kinda big when before I couldnt even get it close to being shut. :)
gonna work out here in about 20 mins for 45 mins .. had a salad for breakfast.
prettyfat 10-07-05, 04:21 AM well,, i got trimspa today, and u have to drink 8 onces of juice or water with that, and now i am up to 303.. I HOPE that is water weight LOL!
but I havent been hungry.. and I feel full all the time. So far it seems like this might actually work!! :D
prettyfat 10-07-05, 08:23 AM Well-- I worked out for 15 mins this morning, my legs/mainly ANgkels are really sore from pushing it the week before with 45 min work outs. So from now till next fri, im goin to work out everyday for 15 mins, then the next week 20 mins, then the next week 30 mins, until I once again am at 45 mins, I think if I slow things down it will be less harsh on my body!
prettyfat 10-07-05, 08:29 AM So I started it yesterday and OMG it actually WORKS!
I am on r for boarder line add, and just because it gives me energy being overweight etc- well My r wont be ready till tues-- so I decided my Trim Spa would give me that boost I need, It DOESNT give me as much energy as R. But it does help control my cravings, and I am never hungry.. :o:peace: :not: :cheer: :lift:
XMAS IS COMING!!! TIME TO LOOSE WEIGHT AND MAKE THAT MONEY!!!

i read that you have had a bad reaction to the trim spa on another thread and just wanted to stop in and see how you are doing.. Good for you on stopping taking it and realising the awful effects it was having on you.

Wish I could take them back they were 35 dollars, but I am sure they won't just for bad side effects..I will write more in my journal later, my cat had kittens a few weeks ago and last night they kept joining us in bed, must have gotten a total of an hour of sleep so far :sigh:

I stopped doing the 45 mins a day threadmill thing for the past couple of days and my ankles are still not any better. I hope I didnt do perminate damage or something, that would suck as I am only 23. 8-| I did 10 mins on it today so far, I am starting to think this is a pointless battle.
today we went to court about our house and if we will be staying here,
we can if we pay the back rent of 3,000 dollars, its a long story but we are gonna try to do it.. right now I am looking for an outside job besides my work at home jobs, if only part time. went to the olive garden today and got the tour of italy.. i'll write more later8-|

i worked out for an hour today...
we ended up loosing our house
cuz my hubby lost his job,
just recently got a new one
i couldnt get on line cuz we didnt have internet access
should be in our own place soon right now we are staying in a hotel barely making it..
I am making as much money as i can from my online job..
thank goodness he will get a DOUBLE pay check next week..

Right now my mom is mad at me, mainly because I
haven't had gas money to go see her(she is legally blind so she cant come see me) anyways, the times that I was there it seems she forgets about, and now she won't even talk to me on the phone.. its really kind of depressing cause we used to be bestfriends.. i hope she gets over it soon and starts being herself..now that I have money this coming weekend to do something w/her she wont speak to me... once we are on our feet i wanted her to move up here somewhere close to us :(
That is sad about your mom - can you explain the situation to her maybe through someone else who she is speaking to.

its been awhile since i've written.
I decided to give myself ONE and only ONE more chance at loosing weight myself. if I cannot loose some in at least 6 months I am going to get by pass.
I've been doing 50 sit ups a day for the past 4 days I can really feel it too. I'm going to do 50 for a week then build up to 100 and keep going like that :)
hopefully I can do it on my own without going under the knife, at this point i'm really trying harder then i ever have. im going to be writing down everything i eat and everytime i work out.

so far i ate, one small choc pudding. 2 dietcokes
and one steakum. starting tomorrow im going to really cut down on eating..
i will still eat just alot less and more healthy chocies.

prettyfat 09-14-07, 02:30 PM wow I really need to start coming here again! i weighted 240 last time i posted, from what I've read, just yesterday i was 290 and today, somehow i was 301! ive been drinking tons of water so im not sure if its just 10lbs of water weight or what but man that surprised me! i have an appointment next week to find out more about the lapband then i will have to wait 8 freakin months while i see somekind of food doctor. i guess they just want to make sure i cannot lose it on my own. i just started taking provigil because im always tried during the day, it seems to be helping a bit, im not sure if that has caused the weight gain or what but im totally freaking out, i have no clue how i gained nearly 10lbs over night!:help: i am hoping it goes back down by tomorrow, i was never at this high of a weightX-( ~ i guess i should write down what I ate, since i want to start keeping track of it,
For breakfast 2 pancakes, homefries sag. bacon. probably at least 600-700cals im not eating the rest of the day cept maybe a sandwich for dinner. lots of WATER,also i am going to work out for 10 mins, even if its only walking.8-|

Wow do we have a lot in common. We have both been at diettalk for multiple years, but post sporadically. I am a young mom also! How old is your little one(s)?
I am 5'5" as well, and tend to drop out of diettalk when I'm not doing so well on my diet! However, when I DO post every day, ESPECIALLY when I'm not doing well, it does wonders to get me back on track as soon as possible! I discovered that losing weight has nothing to do with "not messing up" and everything to do with trying over and over again, every day, and not giving up!
It also helps me to post the difficulties in my life when things aren't going well, because sometimes stress is a binge-eating trigger for me. I also enjoy posting to brag when good things happen. :laugh:
We should start our own challenge -- the challenge to post to our journals every day no matter what!
I hope to hear from you tomorrow!

Your food worries me. Please make sure that you are eating enough. If you go hungry one day, you are so much more likely to overeat the next day. You should have a minimum of 1200 calories, especially if you are doing some exercise.
Please take this as constructive criticism:)
I wish you loads of success with this doctor you will be seeing for the next several months! That would be awesome if you can do this on your own and not have to undergo surgery!
We are all here to support you and cheer you on! Like 108 said, make a point to stop and check in here more frequently. I also find that when I don't come here, I fall back into my old habits. Give us a chance:) We are all in this together!

prettyfat 09-17-07, 04:03 PM well i weighted myself today and now it says 260 just 2 days ago it was nearly 301 so there must be something wrong with the scales. for breakfast i had 2 slices of cheese pizza, not so bad considering before i would have alot more. trying to post here as often as i can!
