Well, I allowed the year of 2005 to be an AWFUL year for me! X-( Gained more weight than ever before! I will be 60 yrs. old this March, and the time has come to GET SERIOUS ABOUT THIS WEIGHT GAINING! Never in my life, would I have thought I would have been this heavy!X-(

I have studied my situation, and I know for sure, it is the WHITE BAD CARBS that have put this weight on me this past year! And the lack of exercise!

So, this year is going to be a new year for me! Getting rid of the BAD WHITE CARBS AND ADDING THE GOOD CARBS AND LEAN PROTEIN, AND HIGH FIBER FRUIT.:) And Exercise, and drink more water!

I hope there are some of you out there, maybe doing this same type of program? I need all the help and suggestions I can get!:help:

Hi, JoAnnAtkinson:

Welcome to the journal forum. You will find lots of friendly support and encouragement here.

Yes, it mostly is a question of controlling what you eat, and getting enough exercise. And yes, it is difficult. But it can be done.

Good luck to you, and I am cheering you on.

Thanks for being there for me! :D

I plan to do this day by day! No frills attached! Just one day at a time! :D

Hi, JoAnn:

One thing you might want to do is journal your food intake. This might help you keep track of problems with your eating.

I don't necessarily mean journal your food intake here in your DT journal, but just keep track of your eating in a notebook or on Fitday or something like that. Many dieters find doing this to be very helpful.

Another thing I have found very helpful is to park at the far end of the parking lot when getting groceries. This provides a bit of extra walking, which can add to your exercise.

As you are doing, take it all a step at a time. You have made the first big step - deciding to do something. Everything else will come along in its own time.

I know you are right about keeping a food journal! It makes you more of an HONEST person! I will begin doing that!

Jo, how long did it take you to lose your weight you have on your stats?

Did you exercise during that time?

Hi, JoAnn:

I went from 196.5 lbs. to 150 lbs. in the year 2000 (it was a New Year's Resolution that got me started). I was 73 at the time.

At the time I was walking about three miles per day, and also did some of the Richard Simmons aerobic tapes.
