If this is what i think it is i will begin by starting this new year right I am going to be 50 in June and am concerned about my health. My career as a PT assistant is also at stake as I am not a good representation for physicaly fit My husband and I are in this together so that is a big plus. Also I am trying to plan meals and snacks ahead by packaging up portions so meals will be easy and I wont grab for anything. I do like to exercise but really havent in a few years. When I do anything like walking briskly I get so out of breath I am so ashamed of myself. I used to be very athletic. But I know I have it in me and WILL be healthy again! Any help anyone can offer me is greatly appreciated
Hello, welcome to DT! Yes, you will receive a great deal of motivation from your new friends here. So nice that husband is in this with you. Always good to have someone close by to encourage. Journaling is a great start. Yes, you do have it in you to be healthy again. You are headed in the right direction. Congratulations in taking these steps. Best wishes!!

:welcome: Hi Nicola,
You are ahead in having your DH dieting with you. You can help and support one another.
I have found that for me, making small goals and working toward that is easier to manage that seeing the whole picture. I need to lose a LOT of weight, so I have set a first goal of only 10 lbs. It helps to make the process easier and more doable.
Also, do try to exercise a little every day, even if it's just walking for a period of time. When I started, I could only manage 10 minutes of walking, but now I'm walking 20 minutes. Not much compared to some of the exercise divas around here, but for me it is very good. Any moving at all is better than none.
Since portion control is so important, by preparing your meals and snacks as you are, that should be of great help in your weight loss.
Well, this is a beginning, so the very best to you and your hubby. Onward and forward...........YOU CAN DO IT!!
