Well, I just joined the site, so I thought I'd start my journal here. I started my weight loss journey quite a while ago at 220 lbs. It's taken quite a while, but I've lost 45 lbs so far and I weigh 175. My christmas present to myself and to my partner was a membership to the YMCA....great present if I do say so myself.

We now get up most mornings at 4am so that we can be to the Y by 5:30 when the doors open. I can't believe how many people do this! I've made some major changes in my life.

I completely cut out carbonated beverages and caffeine. The first few weeks were rough. My coworkers didn't really like being around me...lol. I feel pretty good now though. It's been 2 months since I've had a soda so no reason to go back now.

I watched the show "Supersize me". All I can say is ewwwww! I can't do fast food which is a good thing, but that was horrible! Most days I eat pretty good....lean meats, veggies, and water. I do cheat occasionally. I've discovered the wonder of jello since I really like having something sweet at the end of a meal. I'm noticing that my tastes are changing a lot now though. Things that used to taste good just don't anymore.

I'm loving working out. It challenges me. We take pictures every two weeks to show the change in our bodies (sort of like the biggest loser weigh in thing) That really helps when we have weeks that we say "I haven't lost a thing!". Pics get taken (and measurements) and then we say "Wow, I lost 4 inches!". It's a great thing.

Well, not sure what else to write for now....so I'll close. Need to get my rear to bed so I'll get up when the alarm goes off.

Well...I feel good today. Yesterday was so blah that I didn't do anything. Today, I did much better. I worked out for 3 hours and 20 minutes. It felt great! I figured I burned somewhere in the vicinity of 800-900 calories (I'm not sure how much the strenth training burns. I burned a little over 700 on the treadmill. Stopped at the store on the way home to pick up oatmeal and yogurt. Those suffice when I get the munchies, and they're much healthier than the sweets. Anyways, just feeling good all around.

:welcome: badelle! Wow Congrats on the weight loss so far. You are going to town. I wish you all the best on your journey!
I will check back and see how your doing. Wish I could do that many hours of exercise.

Have a great week!

Wow Michelle, that sure is a lot of exercise. I get in 45 a day and I find that lots. You keep it up and those pounds will keep coming off.
Take care

Thanks Millie and Maryse! I don't usually get that much exercise. That's one of the reasons I'm so happy. :) A typical day for me is an hour and a half before work. The inches seem to be dropping quickly, which gives me encouragement. I can't wait for my body to catch up so I can start dropping pounds again.

I came across a picture the other day from when I was at my heaviest. What a shocker! It just doesn't seem like me. I'm excited to get to the point where I'll look back at the pics from now and think the same thing. :)

I look forward to the day that people tell me I'm pretty instead of saying I have a pretty face. What a goal, huh? It probably sounds vain...which I'm definitely not. I just had someone tell me the other day that I had a pretty face. He was being very nice and trying to give a compliment, so I thanked him and continued with my workout.

Ok....off to the shower. Hope everyone has a good night.

Looks like you are still on the right path. Good for you.
You are right it will be nice when they say more than you have a pretty face. I have had many tell me the same thing. You have such a pretty face.

keep up the good work and you will get there.
