So it's January again. Ahhh....the winter weather which demands that comfort foods be eaten constantly. 'Cause food warms the soul, right? Hmph.

So there are some developments in my journey. Still exercising, although fell out of my weight training over the holidays, and pretty much just stuck to cardio. Picking the weight training up again starting this evening. Better late than not at all, I always say.

I have discovered yet again that having company is a real 'healthy lifestyle' challenge for me. Had my lovely sister at my place for a few weekends. She's safely back from Iraq and hasn't been shopping for a year, or eating good food for a year, and allllll of her paychecks have just been piling up for a year, and boy did she want to make up for lost time. With shopping that was good, because we hiked alllll over NYC for days going to store after store after store. With the dining...uh...not so good.

But life goes on anyway!

My office started a WW group and for the heck of it I joined, even though I was doing mostly ok on my own. I've lost 6.8 lbs. on the WW program...hopefully it will keep going in the right direction.

I have a shortish term goal...I'd like to be at 200 by the time I go to Phoenix on April 5. Crossing my fingers and putting on those cross trainers too.

Cheerio good chaps and chapettes!

Good job Rabbit! I have never attempted WW- but I have heard such great things about it! Is it difficult? Best of luck to you! You can do this!

Hi everyone! Aria, Athletea, FSUgirl, thanks for dropping in!

FSUgirl - WW isn't hard, per se...challenging when you like food the way I like food (which would make it challenging for most people that need WW, I presume). I'm doing the points counting...it's pretty easy when you're eating at home, but eating out is a little tougher. It's not supposed to be (according to the WW powers that be) but it is. I bought the Dining guide which is all well and good, but 95% of the restaurants in it are fast food. I haven't eaten fast food in 1 year and almost 6 months. But anyway...it is still working for the most part. We'll see how it goes a little longer term.

Weigh in and meeting is today. I'm hoping for some good news. I'd be happy with a .5 lb. loss today!

So, the verdict is...yay! Down 2.4 to a flat 216. Weehooooo. I am very happy with that result, especially with all things considered.

Thanks Lynnie & Anne for the nice words! We will rock, all of us! Keep on keepin' on!!

So today has bad-diet day written all over it. It is the New York City dieter's worst nightmare...Restaurant Week. When normally perfectly sane dieters lose their collective minds and gain their collective appetites back for the period of two long calorie-ridden weeks. Every office, every store, every subway murmurs with talk of where to go for RW...who has the best RW menu...what normally ultra-expensive restaurant is the best RW deal...and on and on. Basically a very long list of restaurants have three course lunches and dinners for $35 and less. Restaurants that are normally $150 a person just to walk in the door are $35. It's a foodie's dream come true.

So I am managing to minimize the damage this time. I am going to a RW lunch and a RW dinner today. Same day. I figured it would be better to pack a 1-2 punch then get back to normal as quickly as possible. Bull & Bear Steakhouse at the Waldorf Astoria for lunch today ($25.00!) and Victor's Cafe (Cuban) for dinner ($35.00!).

O dios mio!!! Wish me luck that there's something sort of good for me on those menus!!

Hey Rabbit, I saw on the internet a WW restaurant listing: Applebee on 50th and Broadway, I believe. Have you heard of it yet?

Hey aria - yeah, I heard about Applebees having WW entrees and stuff. I've just never been an Applebees fan. You ever eaten there? Their regular food is mediocre...not sure what to expect out of their "diet" food.

But my lunch at Bull & Bear was realllly good. Not as bad as it could have been, by far. I took the skin off the chicken and only ate half the dessert. So now on to dinner!

Restaurants are killer! (I work at one!) At most casual dining places their menus have a low fat/low carb section, but I live out in Cali where pretty much everyone is weight conscious, so that might be just for us! Good job on your lunch and good luck with your dinner! :)

The weekend was not as diet-destructive as it could have been. Friday wound up being baaaaaad baaaaaad baaaaaad. Used up all but one of my 35 bonus points for the week (and my week runs Thursday to Thursday). Yikes. Dinner was SOOOOO good though. Cuban food...shrimp empanadas, mojitos, sangria, another shrimp dish, black beans & rice, rice pudding. A carb lover's dream come true. Saturday went a little over my points 'cause hubby took me out to an early early birthday dinner. But I went over with fish and sorbet, so not so bad quality. But Sunday I was ideal. One out of three ain't bad. ;).

Hoping to do well the next three days and hoping for the best on Thursday. Even a little loss will be o.k. by me!
