View Full Version : Recommited.......Fit by Fifty
BlueEyez 02-05-06, 09:33 AM Well, here it is February and I have been like a yo yo on again off again. But then, it hit me wait a minute! I will be 50 this year! I promised myself back in 2003 that I would be fit by age 50, my ideal goal weight would be 145, this would be a healthy weight I could live with for the rest of my life. Some where ........ since starting my new job in July I have learned to slip back, finding excuses why I cannot workout, why it's ok to have another bite when I am full, and the list goes on and on! Well I am going to put a stop to it now. I put on a few outfits this past week, in anticipation for spring and they were snug! NO WAY! I should have to buy new ones because they are loose, not to tight! So here I am.......again determined and recommited. I plan to do my utmost to stay on top of things.........this time! So wish me luck friends, I am back and raring to kick some butt!
hi, Saw your post in the buddy site I check in with. Does not seem everyone gets back to it to check each other. Thought I would drop in here. I hear you about re gaining. Having fought weight all my life, never thought I would be this heavy. About 10+ years ago I went from 160 to 145-140. I felt great! kept it off for about 3-4 yrs. Slowly it came back on. Then after getting married I just ate differently and became more sedentary with commuting to work. Needless to say, I have really gained in the last 12-13 yrs. So I am plugging away trying to get below 200 and hopefully get down to 150-145 again.
millie47 02-11-06, 10:21 PM I wish you all the best! I know how you feel I will be 50 on St. Pattys day. I to had hope to be at goal by then but I will be late at getting there. But I will get there.
I know you will do great! Stay fouced and see that goal!
BlueEyez, great to see you. You will get that darn weight off again!!! And keep it off this time. So, here's looking forward to you needing to by some nice new summer clothes this year!!!
melfl81 02-12-06, 10:43 AM YOu can do it!!! You've got all us wonderful DTs to help you stay motivated and get that weight off once and for all!!
BlueEyez 02-26-06, 09:04 AM First and most important thank you all for taking the time to stop in and encourage me, I need that more than you know. I am slipping away so fast ....on a downward spiral that seems to never end. My mind wants to get back on track however I cannot seem to get out of mind mode and DO mode. I make excuses not to exercise and eat a bigger than I should of something or a lil bit more of a goody and say the hell with it and let the rest of the night be wasted. I am tired of this rollercoaster, and doing my best to get back on the road to success again. Sure hope it happens fast as my weight has now ballooned up to 167.5! I already am feeling the ill effects of weighing more. Noticed being winded other day after going upstairs a couple times, also had to do a bit of exercise at work and was out of breath. Damn me anyway I have to stop this cycle!
Hey friend. Don't have time to post now am rushed, but saw your journal on the way to mine and just had to stop in and say hi. I'm so glad to see that you are back and working on this again. I am in the same state as you. Mind but can't get my butt in gear!!
Anyway, gotta run. Will chat at ya more later.
BlueEyez 03-01-06, 07:25 AM Hello Mikey my friend!
Thank you for stopping in, it means alot, things in the AA thread got to be just to overwhelming for me. All the talk about babies etc just kinda made me feel my age and I lost my focus there. Was nothing personal, so I hope no one took offense. Just was not the same support system of days ago, if ya get my drift.
On a bright note, I exercised 90 min last night. Some treadmill, strength training and a bit on the stationary bike. It was hard as heck, I have no idea how I could RUN.........let alone walk on the treadmill for 60 minutes before. I will get there again, but it will take time. Today is the first day of a new month and I am going to try to make this my fresh start yet again. So, with any luck at all by the 1st of April I could concievably be 10 pounds lighter. That is my goal........will I make it I don't know for sure but I am going to try. No more soda, if I do splurge it will be diet. Go easy on the goodies to. Moderation and daily exercise worked before and I know it can work again. Just got to keep the right mind set. Well, time to get ready for work.
BlueEyez 03-02-06, 09:05 PM Still moving forward, have faithfully exercised min. of 40 min past 3 days and food choice have been good to. Hoping to get this to be habit again. Man is starting over hard. Whew!
millie47 03-02-06, 09:49 PM Hey blueeyes,
Good going on the exercise! You will see that goal. Keep up the good work!
Have a GREAT one!
BlueEyez 03-03-06, 07:34 AM Thanks for the words of encouragement Millie, I cannot beging to tell you how much it means. Well it's Friday and I have decided that after work the grocery store and do my shopping, stock up on some healthy fruits and veggies and have this done and out of the way. Sunday is supposed to be sunny outdoors, so with any luck I can get in a walk outside. I have given up my sheetz morning cappucinos for the past week and substituted a vanilla flavored coffee with some splenda and one of thier gigantic oranges for a mid morning snack. So 2 more weeks of that and it will be a new habit :). NO special plans for weekend, just to try and be productive, well need to get ready for work, more later.
Hey friend.
Sorry about the delay in posting. Very busy at work and was setting up my new computer at home so no time. But I'm here now.
I know what you mean about the AA thread. Right now there are only 3 of us that post there. And I only post there because there is one that will not start her own journal so that is the only way to stay in touch w/ her. It's nothing like it used to be. And I struggled for a long time when that happened. Didn't realize how much I depended on the AA's for support.
I think you are doing great recommiting to this. You are still a wonderful example and insperation to me. I've slacked off these last 6 weeks or so because of health issues but hoping we have those solved. I am ready to see the scale moving down again.
Enjoy your weekend!!
BlueEyez 03-04-06, 08:30 AM Did not exercise yesterday, felt kind of blah all day at work, not to mention very stressful, came home skipped dinner and was in bed by 8. I know these were excuses but it is done. Am on way to work this morning, feeling much better and very rested, so I plan to make up for yesterday today. I believe this will work because my normal workout routines have always been min of 60 min 5 days a week with the weekends being my freetime for family and doing whatever. I know that I have just started back into formal exercise and that I am not even up to 60 min yet but by keeping my attitude positve and planning to make up today for slack yesterday, IMO is a very good start. Drank a slimfast with 1/2 english muffin and a bit of strawberry jam for breakfast. Will update more later on this evening.
Hi Mikey..........Glad you got a new computer, it makes a world of difference being able to stay in touch. Thank you for continuing to be such a supportive buddy, it means a great deal. You will be back on track again too. Hang tough my friend.
Well it's off to work...........
So how'd work go today?
I'm not real talkative but did want to drop in and say hi and let you know that I was thinking of you.
gostrong 03-05-06, 08:17 AM Hi BlueEyez
Good luck on your goal. You may have gained some weight back but look how far you have come. It is great you have some weight lifting in your exercise. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn throughout the day.
This site http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html explains alot of different exercises and how to do them properly, if you are interested.
It can take a while to get back into the swing of things. And you are off to a great start. You should be proud.
BlueEyez 03-06-06, 07:35 AM Just wanted to drop in and jot down a few things before getting ready for work. First great to have the visitors, Thank you Mikey and Gostrong, I really count on the support from fellow diettalkers, struggling and overcoming the same as I am. This weekend did not go as planned. Went shopping after work Saturday and out again on Sunday. Ate out both nights and ate far to much.......choices not real bad but just felt so bloated afterwards. Been getting very light headed and dizzy past few days kind of like I am out of balance..........? Not sure, but I have alot of stress going on in my work place at moment, hoping to see a defininte improvement there this week. I plan to workout after work tonight minimum of 30 minutes although, 45 to 60 would be much better. But, right after work I am going to stop in at our local Curves, someone told me that they have a special going on right now, and I am thinking that if I went there right after work that I could not get comfy and blow off exercising like I do when I get home. Hope that today goes well, very uneasy about some things going on. Will update as things progress, well need to get ready. Back later.
sharonf 03-06-06, 08:12 AM Hey Blue,
Sounds like we are in the same place. I said about a year or so ago I wanted to be at goal by my 50th birthday. Well my 49th was this past week so I better get my act in gear. I too find many excuses to not get started or if i do get started i slip back into bad habits. right now i am dealing with a lot of health problems so when i am in pain i just think the heck with it and eat to get some pleasure. which by itself would be ok if i didn't overdo it. looks like you are on the determined road to get to your goal and i am sure you will
Hi BlueEyez - nice to meet you. Starting over IS tough, but you can do it! I've done it a number of times, lol. You know what it takes and it's a struggle until you get those demons under control. Sounds like you've got a good start, don't let it slip away. It looks like you have some good friends here that can be here for you when you need them. I guess the title of your journal caught my eye since I'm 51 and know the struggles of dieting at this age. It's tough at any age, but as we get older the harder it gets in certain ways. But it's still very doable! Good luck!
BlueEyez 03-07-06, 10:24 PM Thanks to all of my wonderful supporters here. I am truly blessed. Work was very busy today, I am beat, did not do any exercise, but ate very well. Stopped in at Curves after work, have an appointment Thursday after work, plan to join and do first workout. They are waiving the normal start up fee if you donate a bag of groceries. I am hoping that by being out and paying hard earned cash for assistance in motivating me will be the ticket for me to get back on board the train to the end of my journey. I have the equipment at home to do this, but always find an excuse not to go up and do it. So now, all I have to do is walk through the doors at Curves, stay 30 min and the rest............can be history. I am really looking forward to this.
Good for you Blue!! Am glad you are looking for ways to get there instead of giving up or stalmating!!! Am proud of you. Is Curves on your way home from work?
BlueEyez 03-09-06, 07:27 AM Left work early yesterday, been having a bit of trouble with vertigo lately. My ear feels full and painful at times. Think I will call to see if I can get into the Dr. Office this afternoon. Still planning on my Curves meeting tonite, going to leave a bit early to pick up the needed bag of groceries, so not much time to post here this morning. Did not work out yesterday, this is something I really got to change and change soon. Anyway.........gotta run.
Good for you in not putting off your curves meeting even though you don't feel good. I understand the vertigo I've been dealing w/ it since June so please go to your doctor!!
BlueEyez 03-09-06, 08:18 PM Well I did it! Joined Curves tonite and did my first workout. Man I am out of shape again cuz I really felt it. They recommend 3 days a week but I plan on 5. Weigh- in is done monthly and I am at 170........OMG! Hoping to be at down a good ways by my first weigh in.....we shall see. Also went to doctors and he put me on some anibotics, seems I have an ear infection. Least I know why I have been getting dizzy. Work was actually very good today, as was my whole day.........hope for more like this.
:cheer:  :dc
I am so proud of you for signing up!!! Way to go!!
You'll have those pounds off before you know it. Don't freak out about the scale. You'll have it back under control in no time. You are working on it and will get there.
Glad you went to the doc and got some meds. I noticed a differance in that I felt better in just a few days.
BlueEyez 03-11-06, 08:09 AM Sunny but cold yet this morning. Supposed to get into the 60's however......so glad to see spring coming. Today I feel my workout from Curves, which is a good thing because the first day my muscles did not feel a thing. However I did feel the aerobic part during the workout. So all in all I feel quite good about my decision to join. There were alot of ladies there yesterday. And it is very motivating to be in a group with such dedication. And that is the main reason I joined was for motivation. Doing some spring cleaning today so best get at it. Will be back later to post how day went.
So glad you are enjoying curves!
When you are done at your place feel free to come spring clean at mine! lol
Have a great day!
BlueEyez 03-13-06, 07:30 PM Work was unbelievably busy today.......had 3 people out sick so workload was very heavy not to mention we were busy. But I made it and even went to Curves afterwards. I actually said out loud that I was awfully tired and not sure I wanted to go. But I did! YEAH Actually feel pretty good when finished, came home made a nice tossed salad, small steak and a potato, baked without the butter and just a bit of ff cream cheese. The extra daylight is really doing me good. Well, got to go help hubby with something, he has been after me since I got here. Laterzzzz.
BlueEyez 03-15-06, 07:28 AM Yesterday was another busy day.........sure hope the girls start getting better soon. Dinner was very good last night, made tuna melts on english muffins with cottage cheese and strawberries. Oh so yummy. It is pretty amazing but since starting Curves (which will be a week tommorow) I have found that I have more energy in the evenings. Instead of just vegging out after dinner I have been doing some odds and ends around the house, instead of letting them pile up for the weekend. Also, took a peek at the scale this morning to see 167 pounds that is down from 170 last week when I went to the doctors and started my workouts. I am just tickled pink, I will update my ticker after a month at curves, that is how they do the weigh in-ins and meausurements. I am on the road again........YEAH!
YEA!!! I am so glad you are feeling better and doing better!! Amazing how much more energy the exercise gives us isn't it.
:cheer: on the scale too!!
catnas24 03-15-06, 03:14 PM Hey Blue,
It's been awhile since I've seen you I just wantedt to pop in and seee how you've been doing and I see you've been doing pretty good. I'm glad you joined curves it is a really great workout I used to workout at another gym similar to curves I loved that workout. I am sure you'll do awsome there! Congrats on the 3lbs loss so far keep it up....
Keep up the Great Work!
Cat
BlueEyez 03-17-06, 11:43 PM Hi Cat.........So good to see you and baby, WOW, you are almost ready, bet you are very anxious. Still hanging in there, hoping to finally get to goal and in shape by the fall. Fighting the flu bug right now, did not go to curves this evening, took all I had just to stay at work. Off to bed with me now.
BlueEyez 03-29-06, 07:23 AM Finally will get off of work at decent hour today so the plan is to go to Curves after work. I have just been to darn tired when I get off an my feet have been just aching.Kind of hoovering around 168 which is down 2 pounds from 2.5 weeks ago, with better eating and regular exercising I should see more losses. The weather is changing to springtime, which should help, longer days along with sunshine! Yea, helps my mood just thinking about it.Any how, time for work........gee I say that alot........Lol, more later.
Hi friend. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi and let you know that I was thinking of you. Glad to hear that you are getting a workout in tonight. I've gotten myself back on track (or am starting to) w/ the exercise but the food I'm having trouble w/. But with wonderful friends and inspirations like you I'll get there.
Keep it up girl. You will get there!!! I believe in you!!
BlueEyez 03-31-06, 07:17 AM Great weather yesterday made for great mood! Went to Curves after work, and even washed my car! Plan to go again this evening, want to get into my shorts in just a few short weeks.........summer is on the way Yeah. Official weigh and measurment day is the 10th at Curves, I have not been very faithful going but will try to remain diligent for the upcoming weeks because I really want to see progress.
Isn't it nice to see the sun and feel the warmth again!! gives us so much more energy.
Keep up the good work girl and you'll force those numbers to change!!
sophie44 04-02-06, 08:21 PM Hi honey!! It feels good to get on here and see you and IV, I think it is JUST what the doctor ordered!! Right now I am off to do my workout, I will hop on after and catch up a bit, miss you, lots of hugs!
Hi there. I just thought I'd pop in and see how the weekend went for you. Hope you enjoyed yourself.
ivoryrose 04-04-06, 12:05 AM good monday to ya! I don't know about you, but this daylight savings thing is for the birds! I noticed that you have joined Curves. How do you like it? I keep driving by ours here in town and wondering what goes on in there as I look at the lively pictures in the window. Also, are you enjoying your job? I never got to chat with you about that big change. How about the grand-kids? They are bigger and more fun every day I'm sure! So excited to hear about your daughter. I'll bet you are all thrilled!
Ok, you have a good day tomorrow. And PUT THAT SNACK DOWN!
ivoryrose 04-06-06, 05:21 PM Good heavens it was a long walk to your neck of the woods. :D
Hope to see you soon -- have a great day at work!
ivoryrose 04-11-06, 12:40 PM helloooooooooooo. Anyone over there? Sending you a  and a :D
Off to find another cup-o-joe this morning... tootaloo, Iv
BlueEyez 04-12-06, 07:50 AM T-A-X-E-S! Need I say more...........Hoping to get back in focus soon. I am so stressed! Thanks to all who have visited, love and miss ya all bunches.
BlueEyez 04-18-06, 09:40 AM Got the taxes filed .........and paid thank goodness. Now to work on losing this regained with the same diligence. Man why did I let myself slip so far backwards. I am very annoyed with myself to say the least, but I am determined to get rid of it one way or the other. Still a member at curves, however I thing getting up an hour early is the way to go for me. I always was an early morning exerciser. That way it is done and out of the way first thing and I can't make any excuses. So that is my goal, to become regular at my exercising again. Monday got up at 5am, did 25 in abscupt and 45 min of strength training. Today another ab sculpt routine (25min) and a brisk walk on the treadmill for 45 min. Will do best to keep the eating in check, however since starting work that is more of a challenge than I care for. Anyway, off to shower and start getting ready, had a late morning, so wanted to drop in and post some.
BlueEyez 04-19-06, 07:38 AM Well,it's Wednesday and I have been faithful to my exercise so far for the week. Although I must admit that waking up at 5am is a bit early but I know it will pay off in the long run. I had, full intentions of going to Curves after work yesterday but after a long stressed day, I turned in the opposite direction to go home. But at least I got my hour in first thing.........! Eating has been going well to. Not having access to fitday all day is making me rely on me.........but all is good. Not much else to report, continue to move forward .......baby steps as they say.
BlueEyez 04-20-06, 07:45 PM Work went well today. Went out to park again with my packed lunch, it was great! I so love the spring days. Did my ab/treadmill workout this am. Feeling really good!
Hi Sandi:
Can you tell me how to set up a link to my journal? I noticed yours just says "journal for success" but when I try to set up a link it does the whole http:// thing.
I haven't seen you in our diet buddy group so I decided to check out and subscribe to your journal. I know you said you were really busy. Hope all is well.
BlueEyez 04-21-06, 07:26 AM Good Morning Char and thank you for dropping by! I wasn't sure which group was which.........sorry got confused, which these days doesn't take much. Let me know the name of the thread and I will pop in and get aquainted.
Exercise has gone well all week, strength training and aerobics mix all week. Eating has been good except for the late nite snacking. Not that the late nite snack has been a whole box of chocolate, but none the less not a good habit to have. So I will try a salad at dinner time along with my regular meal in hope to tame the night time munchies. All and all I have been very pleased. Got to get ready for work just wanted to drop by and post my progress and thoughts. Again Thanks for the visit Char, have a great day.
I will help you with the link tonite promise, I just tried but it did not make sense to me, so how could it u! LOL
Oh don't worry about the thread Sandi...I've linked up to your journal so I can pop in. I know there are so many people to talk to here you lose track LOL
Have a wonderful weekend:D
Hi Sandi:
Okay that's it...I just read your post about your total gym and I'm pulling my out of the storage room this weekend...you convinced me! :mus: :whip:
BlueEyez 04-25-06, 07:30 AM Dragged my butt out of bed for day 2 of week 2 and let me tell you was it difficult. I went to bed very late Sunday (1am) and 5am sure came fast then again last nite I was up till 10:30, had to make an emergency stuffed animal run over to my daughters. NO SLEEP DOES NOT DO A BODY GOOD! My goal today is to be sure to be to bed early, no later than 9pm so I can feel more rested. Need to concecnetrate a bit more on my water intake too.But overall the eating and workouts are progressing nicely.
Char good for you on getting out the gym, you really get a good workout out from them, also popped in your journal you are doing fantastic, keep it up hun! Well time to get ready for work.
ivoryrose 04-25-06, 11:06 AM Awww, hope you got some rest last night and are feeling perky today. I thought spring had finally sprung up here, but today there were *SNOW FLURRIES* :O falling outside when I got up!!! Not a welcome sight, I assure you!
Week 2, huh? Good for you! Fifty isn't going to know what hit it when your fabulous self gets there! :D Yeah, 2 weeks is about where I'm at too on my 8 week self-challenge. I have a family reunion thing to go to in June, and no one has seen me since the surgery. Most my hair is grown back in and I'm trying to be very healthy so I LOOK very healthy before I go.
Pop in and say howdy now that tax season is over -- take care!!! Iv
BlueEyez 04-27-06, 07:41 AM Finally got a decent nights sleep. Sure could use more of them let me tell you. Stress and being so tired as made things unbelievable lately. I really ate far too much yesterday. Had a cheeseburger at the local grill for lunch yesterday. Then snacked on a yogurt and some white cheddar popcorn. Only to follow with dinner just a few hours later. I ate even though I wasn't hungry. Choice........french toast with bacon. Oh well today is fresh and new. Got up and worked out so I am at least on the right track. It is Thursday which is our weekly meeting at work! I really don't care for them but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I am thinking of just sending out some resumes for an office job. This bank business is just too stressful. Well need to get going.
ivoryrose 04-27-06, 01:49 PM Hi Blue! I don't like meetings either. If you don't like your job, I think it is a great idea to send out those resumes! New jobs can be a lot of fun. There are always crummy parts to every job, but the good should outweigh the bad.
Now missy, let's talk about your mega-meat-bacon-burger choices! :O I have had those days too, so I sympathize. In fact, I would love a big juicy burger right now. But, alas, we must resolve to fight it. So here is my edict for today I shall look at the burger and say "you can't beat me you little poo-head!" and FOR THE REST OF THIS DAY, BLUE AND IV WILL BOTH MAKE GOOD CHOICES FOR OUR HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND HAPPINESS!!!!! We'll deal with tomorrow when it comes 'round. :D
Hi Sandi:
Life would be so much easier if we just didn't have to work...I'm with you I hate it, not just the meetings...the whole darn thing! It makes us all crazy. Why oh why couldn't I have been born independently wealthy??? X-( X-(
I'm glad you're back on track. By the way I LOVE your new avatar! How cool!!
I'll stop by again soon and visit!!
Hi friend. Thought I'd get your journal out and dust it off so it would be nice and clean and ready to go when you have time to come back and post!
I agree w/ Ivory if you don't like your job, send out resumes sweetie!!
and good job on the exercise even though the eating didn't go well.
Missing you and hope everything is going good for you.
How are those amazing grandchildren?
ivoryrose 05-08-06, 06:11 PM
Miss you doodle-head! :D
BlueEyez 05-24-06, 08:32 PM How do u you spell FLOP? S_A_N_D_I
Damn SAm, I just have no willpower or motivation. I really want to lose this weight again, but I just can't seem to stick to anything. Was sick the entire week of my vacation with bronchitis, then a sinus infection. I have visions of being this way the rest of my life...........I need to find an eraser and get these thoughts out of my head. I really know this, but somehow I just don't cant won't find what it takes. Calgon take me away...............
BlueEyez 06-26-06, 09:50 PM Time to get down to business. My 50th birthday is just 3 months. I am determined to get back into shape by then. Goal is to be a lean 150 pounds. Did the slimfast for breakfast and lunch. Southwestern veggies casserole for dinner. In process of making a grocery list to have something more substantial for breakfast. Also, did 20 min on exercise bike. Will aim for 21 tommorow, 22 on wednesday.......etc, etc. Anyway the good thing is I believe this is it. I feel great and commited. Wish me luck.
BlueEyez 06-27-06, 09:45 PM Had another good day both physically and calorie wise. Did the slimfast for breakfast lunch and had a nice plate of chipped beef on ww toast and some rice pilaf with assorted veggies. Then did 30 minutes on the Gazelle. I can slowly feel myself coming back. I can and WILL do this. It is a long lonely journey but I know that I CAN DO IT!
BlueEyez 06-28-06, 10:16 PM Ok, hump day and still moving forward. Eating good again for day 3, slimfast breakfast, cottage cheese with fruit and a rice cake for lunch, grilled chicken, 1/2 baked potato salt/pepper only ear of corn no butter. Not enough water today, however I am drinking some right now, so hope to remedy the situation before bed. I am very upset, my treadmill has been stopping dead when it gets hot. New motors are rather pricey but cheaper than a new treadmill, not sure what to do, it is my favorite piece of equipment. But for now I am using the Gazelle, total gym and stationary bike. Did 15 min on treadmill till it died and finished up last 5 on bike. Also managed about 5 min of ab work. Mowed lawn for 20+ min. I am so ready to lose lose lose. Now off to shower and read a book.
Hi there. I am so glad to see that you are back!! I haven't been able to post much lately b/c work has been so busy and when I moved my internet provider won't let me have internet so no internet at home. hopefully that last one is fixed and after next week I'll be able to get online at home.
Sounds like you are doing good!! Sorry to hear about your treadmill. I just got one last week and think I am enjoying it. lol
I don't know about you but I am struggling and really miss the support from the group that I used to get.
But know that I will be here to support you as much as I can be!!
BlueEyez 06-29-06, 07:50 PM Mikey, thank you so much for dropping by, I tried to find your journal but did not have much success. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you came by for a visit. I too miss the old gang tremendously. I got and gave so much support. I truly believe that the AA's were a big part of my success, and without them I kind of lost touch with what I was trying to accomplish. But I am back and raring to go. Found a guy today that said he would look at my treadmill motor and see if he can rebuild it. I am gonna keep my fingers crossed. How are the wedding plans coming? I'll do my best to support you too. Together we will achieve great things!
Calories been great again today, will go upstairs for 30 minute work out of some sort, gazelle, or bike not sure which. Love the feeling of being in control of things again. It is so empowering. Well, gotta get !
BlueEyez 06-30-06, 07:22 AM I wanted to quickly drop in to post in case I get busy over the weekend. The main thing I want to do is set some "Weekend Goals ! so I don't sabatoge all my hard work from this week. So here goes!
Goal #1 To be sure to a healthy breakfast and lunch, so I don't over eat at dinner!
Goal # 2 To stay active, go outside as much as possible and to find time for 30 minutes of formal exercise each day.
Goal # 3 To smile and enjoy life, I am back on the road to a healthier me!
These are simple goals, but I truly feel that by putting them down on paper, journaling etc, will help me to stay on track.
Well, got to go get some breakfast and ready for work.
i love your weekend goals..i am sure that you will accomplish them all :)
Your signature is so true..i am going to add that to my favourite quotes.
hugs bell :)
BlueEyez 07-03-06, 06:45 AM Thanks for dropping in BELL!! Your success is very encouraging indeed! How long did it take you to reach goal?
All in all I am pleased with myself this weekend.Food stayed in check, I did not get in the "formal" exercise but I was busy outdoors the entire weekend. By the time the day was over I was totally beat. I managed to weed around the entire house, plant some flowers I have been wanting to and even mow my yard. I am sure this counted for "formal" exercise. Today it's back to work and I will continue to do some work out in the evening. My goal is to aim for a minimum of 30 minutes through the week. Off work again tommorow and a half day on Wednesday. Today, stay away from any tempting goodies and drink more water are my goals. Gotta go get showered now.
BlueEyez 07-04-06, 10:53 AM HAPPY 4TH !!
Today's Goals
FRUIT, FUN AND FITNESS.........OH YEAH AND FIRE WORKS !!
Have a great day fellow diettalkers!
ivoryrose 07-16-06, 07:46 PM Howdy my friend Blue!!! Hope this finds you well and chipper after the holiday. We are finally moved to our new house and just getting back to semi-normal. The funny thing is that I ate like a piglet during the move (zillion trips with boxes) but thankfully didn't gain anything. Would have preferred to lose, but I will take what I can get.
Lightbulb moment...hmmm...hun I think it's more of an I-think-I-can endeavor up the hill. Day at a time...day at a time. I always do better when I STOP, and THINK before I eat something -- "With this choice will I move forward, stay the same, or move backward?" The tough part is remember to ask yourself that! Let's both give it a try and make it a great week, K?!!!
Take care of you and yours! (BTW, how ARE you and yours?)
ivoryrose 07-31-06, 03:22 PM Hi Blue, Miss you!!!!! How are things? I love the idea of a new buddy thread like you suggested over in Sophie's journal. We all need to get on the stick and get this done! What a great feeling it would be not to worry about squeezing into "fat pants" for once... :D
This summer is going by TOO fast. I'm sure you have been spending tons of time with the Grand-B's. Hope you are staying cooler than it is out here though! Phew, yucky hot sweatiness prevails here!
K, come back and visit soon!
BlueEyez 08-21-06, 07:44 AM New belt arrived last week for my treadmill, it still is acting like the motor is going out however, speed varies a bit through work out, which is ok as long as it don't shoot up to 10 mp. We started a fitness challenge at work last week, we weigh in today. If I am lucky I may see a pound lost. I am hoping that having my treadmill back will help give my body much needed momentum to start to lose again. Son will be coming home from camp today, I am just thrilled, he has been away for the summer! Will be school shopping at some point this week. I started a group to walk for the March of Dimes the 16th of next month. Nothing grueling only 3 miles, but for a great cause. So maybe I am going to get back on the track to fitness. I am in the process of making my grocery list for the week, I am actually including breakfast food, seem to have forgotten that eating actually helps you lose weight. Well, need to get ready for work just wanted to come in and post as I once again try to get back and stay on track.
P S: If you would care to sponsor me in my walk on 9/16/06, it would be greatly apprecitated. Anything helps, and it is such a worthy cause. Thank you, Sandi

So glad that you got your treadmill up and running. And  to you on the challange at work!!! woohooo!!!
Sounds to me like you are on your back to fit and healthy!!! You can do this!!!
ivoryrose 08-21-06, 03:30 PM YEAH, what she said!!! :D
I am SO proud of you taking on this walk. Sometimes it is helping others that inspires us to help ourselves. You are making a statement about not only a good cause, but your committment to yourself as well! Now DO IT big girl and have a great walk!!!!
BlueEyez 08-22-06, 07:16 AM Quick morning post to recap yesterday, suprisingly I did GREAT! I can really suprise myself at times. Weight loss for first week was only .5 pounds but some loss is better than no loss, or worse yet a gain.
Completed a grueling 30 min on treadmill, (damn am I out of shape again), fooled around on the floor with some ab work and even did about 15 min of toning. So for that I am very proud. Eating was good for the day, I really should track calories at fitday again, that really seemed to help. Today I need to focus on more of the same plus remembering to drink more water. That still remains to be one of the hardest things for me. Ok, that is it in a nutshell, time to get upstairs and workout so I can get ready for work. Will try to get in this evening for an update.
 great job on the exercise!!! woohoo!!! You are coming back I can feel it!!:D and  on the eating too!!
oh and lets not forget the .5 loss :dc: much better than my scale going up the last week even t hough I exercise...okay will not get into that here...
Hope you are having a totally wonderful day!! Am so proud of you!!!
ivoryrose 08-22-06, 02:40 PM Hey, that is TWO STICKS of butter melted away woman!!!!!!!!! Partyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! :dn :dc :cheer: It is great to see this journal busy again!
I agree Mik -- she is on her way back!!!!!
BlueEyez 08-28-06, 07:53 PM Had a busy weekend, need to plan for the eating however........ to much eating out! Did manage to see a pound lost this week though, so .........
for that I am pleased. Have been faithful to 30 minutes on my treadmill each weekday. I will gradually build up to 60, but for now........3o will do fine.
Mik_IV what can I say but thanks gals.....your support of me means more than I could ever express.
ivoryrose 08-29-06, 11:55 PM Eating out can be such a killer. I have figured out some "safe" standard orders at the restaurants we go to pretty often...and well, you are always safe with grilled chicken right? SO glad to see you exercising and working on your eating! You will feel that incredible calm that comes with having a handle on this and making progress!!!!
How are the family and the grandbabies? I miss the updates and sure glad you are back!!!!!!! OOOH, forgot, how is the job going?
Heard anything from Sophie? I am worried about her!
Sophie posted in her journal today!! woohoo!! maybe she is coming back to?? we can hope can't we. Said she got an email from Sandi so thanks Sandi!!
Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say HI!!! and I'm thinking of you. Miss "talking" with you like we used to.
Take care
BlueEyez 08-30-06, 08:38 PM Hi there.........I should post here first I guess, seems you all already heard the Sophie news! But good news is always worth repeating. Eating and exercise remain consistent. Getting easier each day. Have to work 4 hours Saturday but off Monday so that is great.
IV_ Work is ok, I am not so happy with them at moment because being overlooked for a promotion. Had someone leave and now they are delegating work without pay/title. Not much I can do so I drop it.As for grandbabies.......
Oldest is in 1st grade this year, she will be walking with me on the March of Dimes walk, her sis is now 18 months and talking up a storm, and Michelle has my grand son safe and sound ..... ready to meet the world some time in October.
Other grand son will be 2 in October. OMG where has time gone. The wonderful news is son and wife very happy, and frankly so am I. You were right everything worked out. He is a newly licensed insurance agent. I am so proud of him.
Mikey_ Yes, hopin too Sophie comes back. I am thinking about a new thread for us.....or maybe just stick in journal section, we can call it the 3 musketeers "No not the Candy Bar" lol. Let me know your thoughts. So tell me when is the big day? Bet you are anxious.
Well gotta run.........speaking of run check out my page see how well I am doing on support with my walkhttp://www.walkamerica.com/personal_page.asp?si=D8A1C235-E456-46C8-8FA7-4689C7D26A96&w=641168 Have a great night everyone!!
ivoryrose 08-31-06, 12:05 PM Blue, what an exciting post! So many wonderful things working out for the kids. They are finding their way even better than you hoped!!! And a NEW grandson on the way??? Wheeeeeee!!!! I bet you could spend way too much time spoiling them if you let yourself. :D That sucks about work though. Your boss must be a nincompoop to pass you up! That's the way management always is -- if they can find a way to give out the work without the title, they will do it. 8-| As you can see from my journal, administrators are on my s**t list these days!
The name of the new thread is cute. So glad you and Sophie have popped back in! Hope everyone will be back and posting regularly in no time!
How is walking training going? It's a 5K I assume?
sophie44 08-31-06, 12:47 PM Hello DT mom...lol. I know (hangs head in shame) I haven't been here in forever, just so busy. I wanted to email you last night when I got home, but I sat down to catch up on news and fell asleep...lol. Thats how you know you are working WAY too much! But, I thought all day and realy, since you emailed me, and I made a promise to myself, I will get back on here. DT and you ladies used to be SUCH a huge part of my life and then poof, my world turned upside down, lost job, got a new one, lost my PC have a new one...just up and down up and down. When I look back, the parts where I was doing well, weight wise and any other, were the times I was here. So...makes it clear, DT= a better Soph. Sooooooooooo, I am ready to come back full force, hope you guys are ready!!
ivoryrose 09-01-06, 05:46 PM Happy Labor Day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do somethin' fun!!!!
ivoryrose 09-05-06, 01:44 PM Bump. Thought you might like to find this journal of yours without walking a mile! :D
sophie44 09-05-06, 08:48 PM Where Are Ya Blue!?
BlueEyez 09-06-06, 06:54 AM Here I am Sopie!!
Things got crazy as hell over weekend. Didn't do bad eating but excersise was a bomb, monday and again yesterday, plan to go soon as done here. Sorry to be away, just really nuts. Now I need a day off from my day off.......lol make sense
ivoryrose 09-12-06, 12:41 PM KNOCK KNOCK, anyone home? Sending non-crazy-schedule vibes your way!!! :D
ivoryrose 07-01-07, 11:52 AM Just a little bump to your journal to let you know we miss you!
BlueEyez 01-28-08, 10:54 PM Wow, it's been ages since I have been here. Not sure I am ready to post regular again. I really want to but I always seem to run out of time and let folks down. Still at bank (3yrs in July) and finally starting to get a routine back into my lifel I have been walking pretty regular again and dropped off some weight that I had gained after falling off the wagon when I began working. Down to 160from 181 so that is good, however I should be at goal and maintaining by now. Damn this is hard work.My youngest son left for the UK last week, he is traveling for the next few months. So hard to let your baby grow up and see the world. I am managing and keeping the cookies and milk at bay. I am going to give DT another whirl .....
Many good friends and advice really have helped alot in the past. And reading posts from old friends I see new additions to your families, marriages and pounds lost. Congrats to all of you along with BIG HUGZ......I have learned to make time for me again and what is important, and I really want to try with everyone here at DT again.
Hi there friend!!! Am so glad to see you! We have worried about you so much and in the muskeeters thread we say hi to you quite often just waiting for when you will come back.
Know that we love hearing from you, whenever you have the time and want to post we are here for you!
Great job on losing 20lbs!!! woooo!!! That is great!!!
And you are doing great to leave the cookies along, especially w/ ds leaving for a trip!!
 Glad you are home again dear friend!!!
BlueEyez 01-30-08, 07:56 AM I am on track and focused. If all goes well I will see the 150's at some point next week, they may be high end but at least it will be a new number. I continue to do daily workouts M - F for 60 min. either on my treadmill, gazelle or stationary bike. Can't wait for summer to burn the extra calories scuba diving. I have put my goal weight at 150 because I feel it is doable, however secretly my desire is to get down to 140. That is actually the high end healthy weight for my build. Well time to get ready for work. Thanks to all of those who have made me feel so good about my return to diettalk. I am absoulutely thrilled and PUMPED about being back.
