View Full Version : Millie47, still tring to get to goal!
millie47 07-29-06, 09:52 PM Well here I go again tring to get to back to healthy eating again.I know I can do this and I just need to put my mind to it and go for it.
I have had a hard year so far but hope to make it end much better. I know coming here to DT has always helped me before, with all the great friends I made. It has always helped to keep me going.
I found out this year that I am losing my eye sight. Which I have only 30 degrees of peripheral vision left. But I still have good center vision so far. I am looking on the bright side of all this.
TWO WEEKS AGO I went and had a total knee repleacement done on my left knee, so I am still recovering from that and can not do much yet. But I do know that I have to start back to my healthy eating. The more weight I can take off the longer my new knee will last. I still have to have my right knee done also, but will wait and see how this one truns out frist.
My hubby came home from Iraq for my surgery. It was real nice to get to be with him. He left Tuesday to go back, which has made me a little sad. So I have decided not to have a pitty party and just get going to make myself feel and look better. So when he comes home in DEC. for 2 weeks we can really enjoy being together.
Aug. The 15 my 21 year old son will be leaving for boot camp, he is going in the Army. So I am sure that will make me very upset also.So that will leave just me and my 17 year old.
So now it is time to start taking care of my self and move forward and stop worry about what will happen later. Enjoy life for now and be happy. I know when I am eating right I am much happer, so that is what I want to do.
I will start posting here everyday and read and help to keep others going.
Hope everyone that reads this have a great and wonderful day. I need all the help I can get to keep me going!.....Hugs, Millie

millie47 07-30-06, 11:32 PM Hi Everyone, It was so nice to see so many post from yall. Thanks a lot! It really does help to have friends to keep us in the right frame of mind.
I have had a good day today. Tomorrow I will start tring to make my own meals so I can start was the calories and fat intake. I have had hubby or my sons fixing me something to eat due to I am unable to stand very long. But tomorrow I will give the kitchen a try and see how I do. That way I can start counting those calories.
It really does get boring setting around so much. maybe I will get my knitting out and work on that. I have not done that for years.
JoJo, it was so nice of you to stop by. Thanks for the kind words.
Beth, it was nice seeing you again. I need all the help I can get.
Aria, happy to see you. Glad yall missed me.
Eileen, Welcome to DT. thanks so much for stopping by. we cann all use the help. I wish you the best on your journey. Have you started a journal here?
Monica, It was great seeing your post! I am so happy to be back. I really have missed my friends here. I will try and get to the WWW meeting chat at 9pm on Mondays right? I will leave a note for myself. I have tried some of your recipes and they are rally good. I will have to do more once I am up and back to cooking again. Which I hope is soon!
Thanks for being here for me!
Well tomorrow the nurse will come by and take more blood to check and see how my blood is thin enough. They have had me on coumadin ( blood thinner) since my knee surgery. They come and take blood 2 times a week. Sure will be glad when that is done with. Then PT lady will be here. So will have some what of a busy day tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great day!....Hugs, Millie
millie47 08-01-06, 12:06 AM WEll I did go in the kitchen and made some home made chilly. Also made a pitcher of ice tea, unloaded the dish washer. I got very tried and weak feeling. So I am guessing it is to early to try and do to much yet. But it sure was nice cook. My sons try to give me good food, but theres is very fatten what they can cook, lol.
Nurse came and took blood today, PT lady called and said she was sick and would be out tomorrow. But I still did my exercise's like a good girl.
So my food intake was better today. I am starting out with baby steps again.
It is so hot here, the heat index was 104 today. Way to hot for MI. The power com. wants everyone to turn AC down and lights off, they are running at full power.
Well hope everyone is having a great day!
Hugs, Milie
doowadnil 08-01-06, 03:23 PM I know it seems like a long time for recovery from your knee replacement surgery, but it will feel better and you will be able to move better in time. Be patient with yourself, rest when you are tired, and do what you can.
I can understand how worrying about your husband and son being in the services could make you feel like eating for the sake of comfort (I know I would, anyway), but comfort food will never make you feel comfortable. You are such a strong lady. I admire you. Your family will be so proud of you when they see how fit and healthy you've become!!
Hang in there........one day at a time. :cheer: :console:
Millie:
I'm so glad you're back. I really missed you! Thank you for posting in my journal and encouraging me. After all you've been through your still taking the time to comfort and encourage others. I don't know how you do it. You're a very special person!
I PROMISE to encourage, support and be there for you every step of the way. I also want you to know I'm always here to lend an ear. You have quite a bit on your mind with your husband being away and your son entering the armed forces and your health issues. You truly are an inspiration! Reading your journal certainly puts things into perspective for those of us who have no real problems to belly ache about!
You my dear are one tough cookie...I admire you very much!
Now don't go disappearing again...you scared me! :sigh:
WELCOME BACK! :cheer:
aria2000 08-03-06, 04:11 PM Hi Millie!
sandielynne 08-07-06, 01:21 PM Hi Millie,
My goodness, with your surgery just such a short time ago, you need to give that knee time to heal. Get up and walk, yes. But don't try doing so much too quickly.
You are right about helping your knees (both of them) by losing the weight. That is exactly what has driven me and motivated me this time around to lose the weight once and for all. I am hoping to avoid knee surgery on my right knee by losing the weight. I am already noticing a great difference with the weight I have already lost, and it is all positive. So the more I lose, the better off I will be, and so will my knees.
I hope you have a speedy and well recovery. In time you will fully realize the benefit of having the surgery. I am so glad I had it done because my life is so much better now since the surgery.
Take care.
Millie, Just checking in on your. Glad to read your are coming along. I am sure it does not feel fast enough for you. But take your time and heal well.
Hey, Millie! Glad to see you are up and about on that leg! Sandie's right about not doing too much, but your pain levels will tell you when that's happening for sure! lol It's good that you are dedicated to doing your exercises, too. It hurts, but it's so necessary! My mom's having both of hers done on August 21st, so she's got all that to look forward to. Luckily, she lives with us and I've been through it, so we know what she needs.
As far as your perpherial vision goes, I'm so sorry to hear that you are losing that. My mom hasn't had any since she was 18 years old. She had a brain tumor removed and it took away that part of her vision and she's been totally okay. I hope that is how it'll be for you..... it would be strange for awhile, but hopefully will become something you can live with. Thank goodness you aren't losing all your vision.
Take care of yourself and keep up all your hard work! Taking weight off will be SO good for your knees.... mine, too. (well, I mean my taking off MY weight.... LOL you taking off weight unfortunately won't do anything for my knees! LOL) I have to have my left knee done at some point and I'm going to try to hold off until I have lost a considerable amount of weight. I just know that will make it 10 times easier!!
Have a great weekend!
