View Full Version : Walkin Away the Pounds!!
workin2bthin 08-20-06, 09:35 PM Hi everyone!!! This is my first journal entry here on DT. My chosen method for losing weight is walking. It is something that has worked for me in the past, and I am not on the physical level I want to be yet to run. I started going to the gym consistently last week, and beginning tomorrow I am going to get this eating thing under control. Eating many small meals has been really hard for me, but it is getting easier everyday. :) :) I know that I have a long way to go to meet my weight goal of 155 lbs, but I am finally confident in myself that I can do this. I encourage all of you to leave messages for me on my journal page if you have any suggestions or just want to say hi.:cheer: Good luck to you all, and thanks in advance for the support.
BlueRose 08-21-06, 12:13 AM Hiya workin! (Great name btw)
Your journal title intrigued me cos "Walk Away the Pounds" w/ Leslie Sansone are such great workouts!
Have you ever tried them? I love when she adds the 2lb weights to the workout. It amazes me how heavy they can get!
Anyhoo, I wish you good luck with your journal! I've had mine now for just 5 days now and it's just wonderful. :)
TTFN!
HikerDarlene 08-21-06, 08:07 AM Hiya workin2bthin! I love walking and do it most days. I really helps!!!
You are certainly on the right track. If cutting back calories and bad foods all at once is too hard. Do it slowly. Make small changes then add new ones when you are ready. Wishing you all the best.
workin2bthin 08-21-06, 11:23 AM Thanx guys!! Yes Blue, I have Leslie's DVDs and that is what motivated me to get walking again. Good luck with your journal as well.:)
workin2bthin 08-21-06, 08:10 PM I did fairly well today. I walked 2 1/2 miles, and did 10 minutes on the eliptical. I am still working on getting my food intake down, but today was a good day. I drank lots of water, had my vitamins, and ate fairly well.
MinnieMe 08-21-06, 08:42 PM Hi working2bthin,Its really great that your starting the exercise the better food choices will follow I think its easier to start out with the physical activity 1st then the diet than the other way around because the exercise gets you motivated and more confident to know that you can do this one step at a time. Its great that you've made the choice for yourself to live a more healthier lifestyle,we are all here together thru the good times and the bad, looking forward to the day when we all get to see our goals.Good luck to you,and wtg again for making the right decision to get fit and healthy.

A big DITTO to everything MinnieMe said!!
workin2bthin 08-22-06, 07:21 PM Well, today was a good day overall. I began my day by going to the grocery store and I was suprised by the amount of time I spent there. I spent my time reading labels, and making good choices. I stocked up on fresh fruit and veggies for the week. I had a great workout today. I walked 3 miles :D and worked on my abs. I am hopeful that when I step on the scale Sunday I will finally be able to move my ticker. I am not hoping for a dramatic change at first, but I am hoping to see my weight go down by 2 lbs.
BREAKFAST:Danactive yogurt (110 cal.) 1 cup strawberries (46 cal.)
SNACK:1 peach (38)
LUNCH:Lean Cuisine Pizza (370) 2 tsp. Fat Free Ranch (50)
SNACK:1 small apple (72)
workin2bthin 08-23-06, 09:33 PM Today was a good day. It started out a little rough but it got better. I scrambled some Eggbeaters this morning for breakfast, and it did not go well. I absolutely hated the taste. I am going back to regular egg whites. Lunch was a little rough, (I was out and about), but the day has had a good ending so far. I am having leftover taco salad for dinner. I made it with ground turkey, and I decided to skip on the tortilla chips. I went to the gym and did 3 miles. YAY ME!!! I am going out of town tomorrow, and the hotel I am staying at doesn't have fitness facilities, so I will continue to make good food choices while I am away and do my crunches and push ups. Happy Walking to all you walkers!!!!
stickn2it 08-24-06, 12:07 AM Workin - way to go on starting your journal. Seems like all is well in your world and that is great. You are off to a good start and this site will surely help you to continue. There is a lot of support here and always someone to lend an ear or help you thru a slump. You will find in time that it only gets easier and eating healthy and exercising will become a part of your life. Also, you will begin to notice how much time you spend in the grocery store...but that will get easier. Reading labels helps you to become more aware of what you are eating. You will find yourself asking "is this worth all these calories?" You are off to a good start, keep it up girl. We are all here for you. Best wishes!!
workin2bthin 08-24-06, 12:09 AM aaaawwwwww, thanks stick
stickn2it 08-25-06, 11:11 PM Don't mention it, that is what this site is for...support.
workin2bthin 08-30-06, 10:49 PM :help: This has not been a good week so far. I got on the scale Sunday, and I was optimistic that I would have lost weight, but I was shocked to see that I have in fact gained two pounds. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am eating better, and getting lots of excercise, yet I can't help but wonder if this is ever going to work for me. It is so hard facing myself in the mirror everyday looking at a horrible image. I don't feel good about myself at all today. :c( :c( I feel like giving up.
FSUgirl 08-31-06, 08:58 AM Hey Workin! Keep your head up. If you are feeling good and feeling healthy- then the scale really shouldn't matter. I think a lot of times- we focus on what the scale reads TOO much. From all that walking- you could have upped your lean muscle. And I think we all know "muscle weighs more then fat". Keep it up girly- You won't be able to see positive results each week- that's why dieting is so hard. You just have to keep pushing. You have your heart rate up, your metabolism is a movin'... time is key here. We all know that you will get to your goal weight.
:cheer: Cheers for another GREAT week!
BlueRose 08-31-06, 03:25 PM Hiya workin! I must admit that I too have alot of scale issues... we're always getting into fights... it really is a love/hate relationship!
After seeing all the exercise you're doing... you probably did gain some muscle!
You said you've been eating better.. do you keep a record of what you've eaten everyday? Have you had any "oh.. just one bite of this.." happen at all?
All I can suggest is maybe monitoring what you're eating a little better, and if that's not the case... then I'm sure it is muscle gain.
Try to keep your spirits up! You CAN get through this! We're all here for ya!
workin2bthin 08-31-06, 03:31 PM Thanks guys, I woke up this morning with a better outlook on things. I will have to keep in mind that muscle weighs more, and that may be what is happening. Overall, I have decided to continue on my journey to physical fitness, and if I never meet my weight goal I will be satisfied because I know that I am becoming healthier everyday. Today has been a good day overall, just a little tired. I just completed my first full week back in school, and I think it will take a few weeks before my body is back used to that routine.
stickn2it 08-31-06, 11:53 PM Now that is the attitude you should have. Being healthy and losing weight will always be hard. One of the hardest parts is deciding to do it and sticking with it. You've already crossed that milestone, so you are on your way. Best advise: hang in there and do not be so hard on yourself. I am sure that you are doing fine. Just like you mentioned you have to train your body to get back used to going to school, your body will have to be trained to lose weight and be healthy. It will happen for you, trust me on this one.
