I think making this journal will really help me stick with my diet.

I'm going to post what I eat on here daily. I have recently lost 5 lbs. just by cutting back on my intake. I want to lose 45 more for now. I'd like to do this by yesterday, but since that isn't going to happen, I'll give myself til March.

50 lb. goal
5 lbs. gone
45 left to go

Your support would sure be appreciated.

hey there whoopee, congrats on the 5pounds gone already. giving yourself until march is really realistic so well done with that...slow and steady wins the race..and keeps the weight off! lol. keep up the good work, hope to see you at my journal sometime, if you ever need advice or just someone to listen give me a shout, = :)

Thanks to both of you.

I did so bad last night and today so far too. (I shopped when I was hungry.) If I just have an apple or something lite like that for dinner, I should be able to correct the damage I have done.

I will look for both of your journals....hope you both have one.

Hey whoppee, hang in there, you can do it. You already see your mistakes so that is a big step.

Just take it a day at a time, even just a moment at a time.

I know how you feel. I just started my diet on Monday, and so far I'm doing alright, just have to cut out the soda. ( have dropped to one Mountain Dew a day, but need to cut it out completely). I just started this site on Monday and so far it seems that everyone is helpful and someone always sends a reply back. That's good for all of us!! Keep up the good work. Hi Whoopee. Welcome to DT. Good job on the 5 lbs gone. There can be good days and bad days, dont be too hard on yourself. And you learned your lesson about shopping when you are hungry. LOL.

I've done much better this afternoon and so far tonight. I think I'll be brave and get on the scale tomorrow. Around 5 p.m. I had a pear. I haven't been hungry and usually go to bed somewhat early.

I used to laugh at my mom going to bed early. i go to bed earlier than she ever did. Ha.
I am used to going to bed somewhat hungry. If it bothers you, have some cereal. At about 100-150 calories that is a good choice. And if you are really hungry have a double dose of it. It would be better that other choices.

Dieting is very hard at times, sometimes alot of times Whoopee. Don't feel bad even though you had a bad day. We all have bad days. That is for sure.
Now you got to put it in the past.
No you havent blown the 5 pounds. Just pick yourself back up and do better tomorrow. That is all you or any of us can do. Dont let it get you down. I have had bad days, then just started anew the next day. If you keep chugging along, it will all come off eventually, it just takes a bit of time.

Thanks for the support, Darlene. It does help me put it in a better perspective.

I have quit smoking now for 3 weeks as of today. This certainly isn't helping my weight at all.....but I CAN do this!

tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me not having a cigarette either. way to go. it is very hard to quit and diet at the same time. but we can do it. i had a bad day on my diet today also. had fried chicken for lunch. not good. but tomorrow is another day and we can do this.

Well I have to hand it to you both. Quitting smoking is not only harder but is more important. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was another day that wasn't a good diet day. I have to remember to put it behind me and carry on doing better..not to let it ruin the whole day.

:welcome: hi whoopee....wow,you are dieting and quitting smoking at the same time....i know it cant be too easy....but its surely good for you....some people gain too much weight when they stop smoking....actually they substitute cigarettes with foods,usully sweets...so i think its a very smart choice to start dieting too....
congratulations on the 5 lbs loss....we ll be here cheering you on your success soon.

Hey Whoopee,

You are doing a great job so far. I've decided to quit smoking too. Tonight was my last day. Hope it goes well. Last time I quit I gained weight, so it's another reason I decided to do it now, since I'm dieting already. We'll have to keep each other in our thoughts, momof2kz too, as she is my sister. Tomorrow is my first weigh in so hopefully it is a good one (as long as I didn't gain). I still have to work on getting in more water and exercising. But it's my first week, so I'll get my butt in gear starting tomorrow. Have a good night. I'll keep in touch.

Remember to keep looking forward, things can only get better!!!

I gained one lb. of my 5 back. So, I'm only down the 4 lbs. now. bummer!

hey whoopee, how's it going? only gaining one back os not bad. how are u doing on not smoking? i'm going on my 4th week. don't even want one. and my hubby smoked a few this weekend and i still didn't want one. he is trying to quit too but he's not that great at it.

I'm doing great with the quitting smoking...it's the dieting I'm having a tough time with. It will be a month for me on Saturday, 10/28, that I haven't had a cigarette. Got to do both the quitting and the dieting together tho!

good job!!! everynow and then i think about having a cig, but i don't really want one. you're right the dieting is harder. food is soooo much better then cigs and therefore harder to say no to. the good food anyway. we'll get there. hard work and determination. and we'll be one of the skinny ones!!LOL

What are you using to quit smoking...or are you going cold turkey?

Hi Whoopee,:welcome: I just came across your journal thought I would stop in to see how you are doing,WTG on quitting smoking I too am a quitter as of 4-9-o6 it gets easier and is one of the best things I could do for myself,I quit cold turkey,I and a bunch of lady friends were on a annual weekend we all get together and do and after a weekend of being a chain smoker I just quit,(and that was after smoking for over 25 years) now I won't say the cravings go away entirely but I can say I haven't now been even tempted to smoke for at least a month so it does get easier,like food we just have to be more powerful than the urge within us,we can't give up because if we do than we are just giving up on ourselves and thats not good.Congrats on the 4lbs lost,I wanted to suggest to you that maybe if you made a list to change up a few things you do in your routine that it may help you to focus more on your goals because I see that you've been having some what of a hard time and it is so hard there are days that I just say why bother but that is my old way of thinking and I know that I am stronger than that I do believe that I myself have a food addiction like so many others that come here but together we can all meet our goals it just takes time and patients.So a few suggestions for you to maybe work on would be to drink more water keep track and write it down,or not eating after a certain time at night,plus work on getting in maybe a 20 minute walk or something on that order every day.I promise with time it does seem to get easier with this too you just got to gradually incorporate good habits with the bad ones and slowly distinguishing the bad ones.Good luck to you on your road of becoming healthy.I am Heather by the way and looking forward to seeing you meet your goals.

Good job on the smoking. I'm on my 3rd day now, and I don't even really think about it anymore. Keep your head high on the dieting. I weighed in this week (1st) and got a big "0". I know I need to get in more excercise and more water!! But I have to keep my head up or I'll just give up and keep looking at myself and not feeling good about myself. At least if I keep up with it, I can look at myself and say "I'm trying". You have all of us here to keep your spirits up, so don't feel shy!! I will probably need it at sometime or another too!!

Whoopee, Congratulations on taking on the big step of stopping smoking!!! That is just fantastic!!!

So, have you been thinking about a menu for your week? If you don't have time in the middle of the week it might be easier to take 15-20 minutes on the weekend. Don't worry, you will figure out something.

I've been doing so/so. I'm doing much better than I was...with the ice cream and all.

I wrote out my menu for the day...the first day didn't do so good. But, today, I'm doing overall better. Still not following it to a T, but that will take time I guess.

I weigh myself almost everyday, so I'll let u know how I do tomorrow morning.

i started making out menu so i know what to buy at the store whewn i go on friday. so hopefully i can make it work and stick to it instead of trying to think of healthy things to eat when i want bad things to eat.

Know what helped me Whoopee, was planning what to eat for the whole day. I usually did not follow it to a T.But I would see what I wasn't going to eat (that I had planned) and substitute something (that I would rather eat) with about the same calories, so I would not go too far off in the calories I had planned for the day.

Just keep hanging in there and chugging along. You will see what works best for you. :)

Great idea to plan out the meals, I usually just look through the fridge, freezer and cupboards till I find something. I'm going to try a couple new recipes I found this weekend. Will mean leftovers, which is good for lunch during the week. Keep up the good work, we are all here to help support each other!! Have a great weekend!

I'm gaining!! I know it's from the quitting smoking, which HAS to come first. If it's not raining, maybe I will walk tomorrow...and of course try and slow down on the food. lol

quiting smoking is very hard, but if you try and do something else it helps. like chew a piece of gum, or my hubby does pushup everytime he feels he needs a cig. everyone has something that will help, you just need to find what will help u. good luck and keep up the good work.

Glad to see you back!!! I know how your feeling (I just quit too) but you need to work just as hard on that as you do on your dieting, and you've been doing that great!!! Get some hard candy and suck on those when you feel the need for a smoke. You'll get through it, I have faith in you!

Glad to hear u had a better day. are u making out meal plans ahead of time? i make out a menu for the week and usually do a good job of following it. it does help take some of the guess work out of each day.
