View Full Version : Gotta step up my game

I've lost track of my little journal in the 'walking' section that I used to love rambling in. It helped keep me optimistic and heading in the right direction, so I guess I'll just start a journal to help me regain that feeling, and hopefully come out of my stagnancy. I've been so relaxed lately, and I'm hella scarrred to step on the scale for fear of what I might see.

So, I've gotta refocus, get my mind right, step up my game and start movin' these jiggly 47" hips again.

One big motivator for me besides finally gaining control of my weight, is my trip to Greece and Turkey March '07. I don't want to spend another vacation miserable, self-conscious and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I wanna have fond memories of chilling on a Mykonos beach in my string bikini...ok maybe not, but a bathing suit of some kind...and I wanna wear shorts again for the first time in about 12 years.

My problem: I am so anxious to lose the weight. If you've been fat all of your life, you might understand, you'll be willing to resort to just about anything at some point. But I know the right way is slow and steady...that's who wins the race. So no more gimmicks for me, although it was nice to take off 9 lbs in 10 days on this trainer's diet.

How I'm planning to get there?! Be patient with myself, taking it one day at a time. Log every little morsel I consume (embarrassing or not). And resume my old exercise habits when I used to almost train like an athlete (can't have stuff hanging and flying all over the place, lol). I'm usually a 'scale queen', checking my weight daily, so I plan to weigh myself only once a month. Next weigh day: November 23rd. Right now, TOM is visiting, so I'll update my weight stats in couple days.

Today's menu:
Breakfast: 1/2 c. orange juice
Lunch: 2 Turkey slices rolled w/wedge of Swiss Laughing Cow, 15 almonds, Dole Pineapple & Creme parfait, 100 calorie Baked Snack pack
Snack: Turkey lite cream cheese roll, 1/2 apple, 1 tsp. caramel dip, 2 tsp. almonds, sip of apple cider
Dinner: Smart One Angel Hair Marinara, Large salad (feta, nuts, balsamic vinegar), c. tea w/tbsp pumpkin spice cream
=about 1220 calories

Activity: 1 hr. bowling

Hello there nu-you! Don't you just hate false promises? Or even promises that work, but have long term health effects? You are absolutely right, slow and steady is the way to go. But the pounds do add up quickly week after week once we're on that path.

Took a look at your "along the way" photos. You look amazing! You have come so far already, I'm sure you will be able to reach your goal by March if you stick to it.

Hope to see you around!

Thanks for visiting and the encouraging words mommydyanna!

I've been very busy with my new one credit Nursing course which kicks glutes. Why are the lower credit classes the hardest?! Well, I haven't posted in over five days, but I'm still trying to stay on track. I've been tracking all my calories in my handwritten journal and usually stay below 1550 daily.

I'm still falling victim to the late night eating though. Those freakin' cravings just seem to get the better of me each time. When I don't think about restricting myself, I won't crave or eat anything, but when I know I can't have something it drives me batty and I'm raiding the fridge!

As for exercise, I've picked up, and have been doin' more. I've been putting my treadmill to work, walking 1 hour between 2-3 mph, doing arm exercises to boost my calorie burn. I've spotted a new video by Leslie Sansone to add to my collection, Walk Away the Pounds Walk & Jog, and I'm excited. I lost 45 lbs from my highest weight of 245 years ago doing WATP videos. Despite getting bored with them every now and then, I guess it'll be worth the splurge because I don't care much for Michigan's cold winters and prefer to stay in. So, I'm gonna order it tonight.

Splurged today. Today's calories 1700. Walked the 2 mile cider mill trail with hubby (had to walk off those 2.5 donuts) and did my one hour on the treadmill doing arm exercises respectively.

Hi nu me. I think you will like having your journal over in this section. You will get more support because more ppl visit over here in the journal section. That is what I realized when I moved my jouralling to here from the walking forum.

I think going back to more exercise will really help.

You really have quite a work out! Good for you. That trail walking sounds challenging. The journaling is such a positive step. Good luck. I used to live in MI near Lansing. Heard MI got some rain and ice out of the last storm.

Have a good week.

Welcome Nu_Me to the journals!!!

I've been hear a little over a month and just love having all the support and encouragement from everyone!!!

I've found that the journals really help me keep myself in check too!!

You've done an awesome job so far and know you'll make those goals by your trip!!!

My 5 friends and I have a girls weekend every year during Memorial weekend and that's when I would love to have hit my goal by, so I have a little under 6months to go and about 36 lbs. So hoping to make it, sure would like to sit by the pool and not feel so self conscience!!
