I could not think of a good name for the journal. Though of "Maintain or Die Trying", "Move it or Gain it".

When i first started all this, I was extremely inactive. I had stopped working a few years ago, then had bad Sciatica for a year, then just didnt care and was lazy.

My goals in July where to lose weight and become active. I have lost weight and was active. But my exercise has almost disappeared. I can tell a big difference in how I feel because of that. Even with the little walking I have been doing, I feel not as strong as I used to be a month ago. I have said it before but am going to really change things now because I see I may just revert back and refuse to even contemplate that at all.

Since choosing to maintain, I havent been tracking calories and started picking again. A little of this and a little of that must of added up. And without weighing everyday, which I used to do, hasnt helped. Even though it can change daily , it always gave me motivation to keep on track.

So I will track all calories.
Chug the water.
Keep weight under 130 lbs.

Exercise, will start with not to steep of goals because I want to achieve them and then improve from there. Will keep the exercise goals til about Thanksgiving than evalute from there.

At least 20 minutes of walking every day
Some other exercise for at least 20 minutes, 3 days a week

That is all folks, as Porky Pig would say.

I think maintaining might be harder than the actual losing. I don't know I've not gotten to the weight I want to maintain yet. Great job on getting to a weight you are comfortable with!!! One day soon I hope to be in the same situation. I still need to find the motivation to get up early and exercise, but I will!!! Take care!!

It seems to be harder. At least I knew what to do to lose weight. But with this I need to find a balance of what calories to eat and making sure I exercise.

I wouldnt say I am comfortable at this weight but that it is acceptable. Don't get me wrong I am happy with it compared to what I was. I would like to lose alittle more, but my confidence to do so has vanished.

I will concentrate on exercise and counting calories and if I lose more than good, if I don't then I don't. My goal is simply not to gain!

When I think of it, I am settling for this weight, which is sad in a way, (not because of the weight) but I am settling and not trying to be the best me.

That is depressing to write. :(
Gee. I am settling for the me I am. Instead of striving for the me I want to be.
And it is not totally the weight issue, well it is also, but settling. I don't want to SETTLE for anything.

hmmm, I got to think all this out

Well I did alittle thinking. And have come up with a new plan til Thanksgiving. I am not good with following through with plans but will give it my best for the next month. It is all very doable if I just do it. LOL

A. count calories and stay under 1400.
B. Do my little (20 min) morning walk with Jolene when she has school.
C. Do some other form of exercise (at least 20 minutes) everyday the kids are at school.
D. Walk the days they dont have school.
E. I will not gain any more weight.
F. I will not settle!

Then let the chips  fall where they may in terms of the number on the scale. With the main goal not to gain.

I am X-( I gained that pound, but that is what I get for not counting calories and walking only 20 minutes a day.

10-27-06, 02:53 PM
Thanks Mom and Nancy.

Nancy, I think when I wrote walking with Jolene, you may have thought I meant WATP tape. But Jolene is my daughter, I walk with her in the morning. :-)

HikerDarlene
10-27-06, 03:06 PM
Well I did the full 30 minutes of Tae Bo. Billy Blanks kept telling me how good I was doing and told me to kick harder. So I did. LOL  I just think it is funny how any tape/dvd person, tells you how great you are doing. 8-|

Calories will be good today, will end up about 1200. So even if I deviate alittle it will be under 1400.
Exercise:
20 min walk
30 min tae bo

So day 2 of my plan I followed and worked out well.

Awful thing happened. After I did tae bo and did some housework. I go on the laptop and connect (dial-up) and it wont let me. It says my username or password was denied. Well I tried everything, retyping it, configuring a new connection, turned off Norton, turned off the firewall. Pinged the connection, tried another phone line, brought the laptop outside and plugged it in to the phone box and tried that connection. And nothing.

So then got the phone number out of the phone book. I call them up and the phone company said the line was disconnected. X-( So I couldnt ask them for help. I thought they high tailed it out of there.

Then I am like Now What. So I call my dad and told him to look up their website. He did and got me the phone number.

I called and what it was , my credit card expired and they wanted the new expiration date on the new card. So in 2 seconds it was fixed. (They have my credit card on file and just deduct the cost every 3 months)

They should have emailed me or something so I didnt have to pull my hair out figuring out what was the matter. Dont they know I need the Internet?!?

Ugh.

HikerDarlene
10-27-06, 07:42 PM
I thought my non internet day was bad. But how tonight is going, that was a pleasure. Things are finally calming down now, and think it will be a better rest of the night. Least I didnt stress eat!!!

Darlene takes a bow. LOL

There is no better feeling (except seeing the scale go down, LOL) than doing something you really dont want to do , then doing it. So my little walk made my day.It is nice being a simple person cause it is the little things that get me happy.

WTG Darlene I'm glad you got out there anyways and done your walk,it does feel so good when you do something you would just rather not do but know that you should, that is the same discussion I will be having with myself in the next 6 hours.....yes I'm being a insomniac rt now lol.We too have the wind and rain rt now, what I have been doing is just layering myself in sweaters and then I wear a baseball cap which holds up my hood of my wind breaker which in turn saves me from getting soaked,I think I will wear the wind breaker as long as possible because they really do help to break the wind (< break wind hehe)so maybe you might want to give one of them a try I think it works better than my coat for rt now that is as long as you layer yourself.Wow too your already 2pages in this new thread before I even knew you opened up a new one geesh think I was only gone a day well maybe 2 like your intro too BTW,Alrighty guess I will try to get my insomniac butt back to bed hubby better be sleepin cuz HE IS TURNING THAT DARN TV OFF NOW lol I hope ok well you have yourself a good one today when you get up that is well guess your up if your reading this dahhhhhh bye!!!

egyptrose, I take my whole diet and exercise thing as a hobby. Or even like a game. It is funny to say that but that is how I see it most of the time anyways. If I saw it as a chore or just something unpleasant I need to do, I wouldnt have lost any weight, I would be higher now than I was a few months ago. Because I love to eat and eat alot, and that is something hard to control so I make it like a challenge to myself. And coming to DT has been the best motivation I could ever of asked for. If I had to do it all by myself, I dont think i would of lost as much or would keep it off.

Heather, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are like my husband with the sleeping or not sleeping I should say. Yeah I got 2 pages already. I have been gabbing alot. It really helps though. I will need the layers today. The wind is really howling out there today. No rain so that is good. I rather walk in a couple feet of snow and 20 degrees then go in the rain. LOL. I dont know why I got that problem. I think it is just all in my head cause when I did walk in the rain, it wasnt that bad. I think I got a wind breaker, I will look for it. break wind..LOL

MinnieMe
10-29-06, 10:56 AM
Brrrrrrr....your better than me then I love the rain, as long as I am dressed warm that is, but oh that snow is already scaring me and it isn't even here yet.I'm hoping though that my trails are cleared of the snow I'm thinking they should be because they still have to get back to the dam so good I may not have to switch up my walk after all.I am happy for you that you got your lb back off you are actually doing very well, you realized that you slacked a lil bit and you did exactly what you needed to do to get it back off so WTG!!!!!!Thanks so much for all of your birthday wishes you have made my day my dear DT friend!!!!Keep on keeping on.

HikerDarlene
10-29-06, 11:07 AM
Yeah I was a slacking. But when I saw the scale go up, I wasnt gonna let that stay like that. Just have to keep myself a moving with the exercise and keep an eye on the scale so i dont go gain a whole bunch. I worked too hard to let myself get in my own way. LOL

Yes, we just have to keep on keeping on!

Hi Spartsgal. And thanks. I wouldnt of done a tape yesterday cause on the weekends hubby is home and dont like him looking at me doing those. He makes me feel self-conscious. LOL.

Sunday:
45 min walk
1321 calories (will be)

too many yummy things in that darn fridge. Good thing I just figured out all the calories for the day cause if I waited I could of gone over. Dont want to be doing that.

HikerDarlene
10-30-06, 09:18 AM
Well I almost had heart failure today. I have been going on the scale everyday since last weigh in on Thursday. Because before that I didnt for a week and the scale moved up a pound. So I thought if I moniter it daily for now, I keep an eye on things.
It was down again. Barely 126. And when I say barely I mean a little under 126. I am like what the heck, I cant be losing that much (3lbs)since Thursday. So my mind is spinning trying to figure it out, and I think I know why.
10-11 days ago I was 128, so that would be 2 pounds down since then. I am thinking it was all that fiber I ate last week, til just 2 day ago. I had been bloated from it, but didnt think I may have retained water from it, just gas. So since eating less fiber (20grams past few days) that water got out of my system. So I didnt lose 3 pounds (in reality) since Thursday, I have lost 2 since the previous last Thurs or Fri (I forget what day).
That is what I am thinking anyways. Well what ever it was, it must of been me retaining water. From the fiber or or sodium or whatever.
I will increase the fiber gradually instead of going from 20 to over 40 grams in overnight.
I will not step on the scale til Thursdays weigh in. Going on everyday is too much obsessing on the numbers.
Needless to say I am going to be extra good til then. And get my exercise in everyday, cause I am so close to my "final" final goal. That will be my final goal. 125 lbs is a good place to be. I am not happy with my waist at all. But I do know what to do with that. Gain some muscle and that will lose some fat. So I would stay the same weight that way, but some more fat will go away. And that is where the last of it is , in my jelly belly.

10-30-06, 12:18 PM
That is just awesome Darlene! I am so proud of you!

HikerDarlene
10-30-06, 12:34 PM
Thanks mcagle. You would think I would be having a good day, but i am not. I got these feelings of fear and failure. I know they are not rational but they are still there.I guess it is non self-confidence in myself creeping back. Maybe it is not really believing that I have lost alot of pounds. It hasnt sunk in at all. I still think of myself as I was before, lazy and bigger. But I see that i am not.
I just need to clear my head some. Go for a little walk and maybe read the Bible for a while. Reading the Bible ALWAYS puts things into perspective.

AND LOOK AT YOU, you are doing great indeed. Almost out of the 2's. WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HikerDarlene
10-30-06, 03:41 PM
Well I am feeling a whole lot better now. I played analyst to myself and it worked.

I only got a morning walk in, 38 minutes. Calores, I think will be 1225-1275. Not sure yet, but I will come and put the final amount down after dinner.

10-30-06, 03:52 PM
Thanks Darlene! I can't wait to get out of the 200's!! And I'm glad you feel better. You should have wonderful confidence! So don't be so hard on yourself and enjoy being the slim, healthy you. You have inspired us all!

Calories ended at 1263. Ate early so the calories dont just sit in me. With some work left to do around here , I will get them burnt off. Will go for about 1400-1500 tomorrow. Seems to work good mixing up the amount of calories.
It will take some time figuring out the amount of calories I will need once I reach goal. Just will raise them very slowly and see how it goes.

egyptrose
10-31-06, 06:25 AM
hi darlene....yes you are right....i think mixing up calories is a very great idea....it always helped me a lot....you get your body confused and so it wouldnt get used to dieting and hit plateaus....

ve a great tuesday.

HikerDarlene
10-31-06, 10:39 AM
Hiya egyptrose! That is what they say it confuses the body. I think my mind and my body are in a confused state alot of the time so why not add some more confusion. LOL

Well it is halloween today. It has always been my least favorite holiday. Of course with me holidays=food. Never been a big candy eater, and only like some sweets (sugar laden foods). I love regular foods, lots of it and the fattier the better. So halloween is nothing to me, now when Thanksgiving rolls around and then Christmas and the New Years. Watch out that is my danger time. :( But I hope everyone else has a fun and sugar free halloween.

I did alot of housework already and got lots more planned. And I got to get rid of the rest of the leaves. All the leaves are down, only the leaves that come down in spring when the new buds push them off are left on the tress, like the oaks and beeches. So busy day. Which is good cause I am in the mood for it so might as well get tons done today.
Will do abs today and hopefully get a walk in(at least 30 min).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

HikerDarlene
10-31-06, 10:40 AM
Oh egyptrose, I just thought you dont have halloween, do you. Wishing you a great Tuesday then.

HikerDarlene
10-31-06, 03:05 PM
oh that orange font color is awful.

Did almost all of the leaves. I might finish later, if not tomorrow. Boy is in nice out. 67 degrees!
Still got to do abs and will do them right away after I get off here. Not going to go for a walk afterall. Did alot today already around here.
Although when I plan an exercise schedule, I never follow through with it for more than a week. I have come up with yet another one. LOL. I am gonna give it a week and if it doesnt suit my fancy, will come up with something new.

So the new plan for next week is a push/pull split twice a week. I will not go crazy with the amount of sets. Take it slow til I ease into it. Building some muscle will burn some fat and raise the old metabolism. See these things I have known forever but getting them out of my mind and actually doing it is something all together different. I will maintain the weight but will reduce the fat this way. So I will drag the plates out again and put them in the corner of the living room, so I can easily get to them. My bench is alittle wobbly, not to bad. But I can use the stability ball for presses etc. I have done that before and it worked out good. Good enough anyways.

If I am consistant I will just pick up a new bench around Christmas time, and will spring for a better one with a rack.
I am actually looking forward to doing that split, but I got that fear in me cause I can be inconsistant. So will start out with 30 minutes a session.
push- mon and thurs. pull- tues an fri.

That is next week, so let me concentrate on this week and most of all today.

calories 1460 planned.

Hey Nancy, yes it is.

Well all the kids went to town to trick or treat. That little town gets mobbed with kids. All us boonie types bring their kids to town cause the houses are so spread out around here. They wouldnt get much at all. My oldest is almost 17 and she still goes. LOL. But she would do anything for candy LOL

I love to cook too egyptrose. And my family loves me to cook even more. LOL.
My daughters and husband are all real thin and they eat constantly. They must have my husband's high metabolism, because they dont take after me. I am so glad halloween is over because I dont like it for other reasons also.

Well I weighed myself and I am at goal. The "final" final goal.

I am going to concentrate on exercising now and give it my all. I am setting a high number (for me) in exercise minutes for this month and going to try real hard to achieve the goals I have set for myself.

demogal22
11-01-06, 01:17 PM
:1stprize: WAY TO GO!!!!!Congrats on making goal weight!!! If you keep up with what you're doing you'll do just fine!! When you do weigh yourself you should keep in mind that you might be gaining muscle which weighs more than fat, so that might contribute to your weight gain. I weigh in each week, but i'm also keeping track of my measurements.

Keep up the good work and thanks for being an inspiration to those of us who are still working at getting to our goal weight!!!

11-01-06, 01:22 PM
WTG Darlene, and exercise is looking good yes setting high goals on exercise for the month is always good because it challenges yourself to want to succeed at your goal,I haven't set my exercise goal yet this month but I'm thinking I can shoot around the same as Oct.,weather is usually pretty close to the same up til the end of the month in Nov.,usually anyways we will see.Ok you have yourself a great day.

HikerDarlene
11-01-06, 02:31 PM
Thanks Darcy. You are a smart cookie, I already took my measurements yesterday. But I famous for having an exercise plan and then not following through with it. I know in my mind, this is what I need to do but that doesnt mean I will do it. Sad to say. I am gonna exercise no matter what though.

Heather. Yep gonna exercise, at first I had a 2000 min goal. Then put in at 1500 min. That is still alot more than I did than last month by far. So the 1500 is still a challenge and hopefully meet that and exceed it. Got a walk, yoga, abs done. Now gonna go for a 45 min walk so I better get my butt moving and get off here. LOL.

I raised my exercise minutes back up to 2000. And there it is gonna stay! Set a goal of walking 90 miles. And that is gonna stay!

exercise today:
72 min (2 walks)/11 min abs/ 35 min yoga
calories:
1569

I will keep them over 1500. Which seems weird indeed. And slowly raise as I see how my body reacts.

Hey Darlene,

Those are pretty good numbers, very doable. Got me to thinking that I should set the same goal for this month. So I will be adding a new ticker to track it! Thanks for the suggestion, now just got to have the get up and go to do it. Which isn't unreasonable, just have to get my butt up in the morning and do some strength training and do my biggest loser at night and i'll have the numbers I need each day!!

Keep working hard, staying focused and being a great inspiration and supporter!!!!

THANKS!!!!!

Darcy, I just wrote in your journal in response to the exercise minutes. Yes it is very do-able for you, you have been exercising alot. And setting a goal is good, cause you keep pushing to reach it.
Heather (minnie me) went over her goal for 2000 min last month.

Today didnt do much housework. Yikes and it is 2pm. Oh well! But I did my exercise. LOL

68 min walk
30 min pilates
calories will be... I dont know..I best plan the rest of the day out. It is hard in my head to plan over 1500 calories for everyday. Yesterday it turned out to be 1630 abouts. In my head if I eat 1600 calories two days in a row, I will gain 5 pounds. Stupid I know, I just got to change my way of thinking.
I am really enjoying the walking again. And alot!

I better go and do some stuff around the house before they all get home. LOL

MinnieMe
11-02-06, 03:59 PM
Your enjoying it because you made it a habit, thats great that is one habit worth keeping and now your making me want to take another walk hmmmm maybe I will I don't have to leave the house to go bowling til 5 and I am all around I would just have to quick touch up if I do hmmm sounds good I'll just stick around here a lil longer guess I got til 3:30 to decide after that it would be a no but good job to you I am so proud of you,you are definitely inspiring me to quit being a slumtidump wtg chickie!!!!!

HikerDarlene
11-02-06, 08:08 PM
Well you havent been a slumtidump in your walking at all. We better quit inspiring each other cause we will each be out there 6 hours a day and setting a 5000 min goal. LOL
I had a couple of minutes before dinner and went out for 23 more minutes. I had a half hour to play with so I put on my sneakers and said see ya later to the whole crazy bunch of them and got some fresh air. LOL
Thanks for letting me be a copy cat. I will do that so I can see it all together.
Have fun bowling!

Nov 1- 118 min ( 72min walks / 35min yoga / 11min abs)
Nov 2- 121 min ( 91min walks / 30min pilates)

Total- 239 min

Yah I can see us now......oooooo she did another hr Wally I am out the door so I can catch up with her lol too funny but hey what ever works, hmmm do you think we could do 5000?

Oh no, You got what I was saying all wrong. I didn't mean it as a competition at all. No, no. I just meant whenever I am slacking you helped me and vice-versa. And the inspiration, just seeing you keep at the walking makes me want to keep going and going longer. No competition at all, I would love to see you do a ton more minutes than me. The only competition is with myself. To keep pushing myself to do better than I had been.

I got some body weight and resistant band exercises planned for today. Not exactly pulling out all my weights and lifting heavy. But, It will be a good start. And good to do with the tv on. So it is not doing weights, i guess you would call it strength training still. And I will get the abs done with that too.

Only walked a half hour this morning and will go out for at least a half hour more later. It is so cold out. I would rather it be one hour all at once, but if it takes 2 walks, then so be it. I was going up hills at full speed yesterday and when I laid down in bed, my quads were abit sore. That was a good sign that I was doing good with the walking yesterday. :)

Now I better get my cleaning done early, so I get all I want to do done!

Naw I was just joking anyways its never a competition, but an insentive to do better for myself is all thats why the challenges are so great.Rem. extra, extra layers. You can always peel them off,Its really cold here rt now in fact I put on 2 scarfs this morning and had a hoody on with my windbreaker hood over that,I was wringing wet in sweat by time I got back this morning that was a very good workout.Have a good day I will chk in later.

:( Look at me I cant even get a joke. LOL. I love the challenges too. I think they really help alot and seeing everyone keep going is great too.

I did the strength exercises, it went almost perfect. Bicep curls with the band wasnt good. Only felt it in my forearms. Dont want big forearms, ha. Will need the dumbells for that one. And I didnt do as much abs (cause I mixed that in with the rest) as I would of done if I did them by themselves.

But everything else worked out great. My legs are nice and sore. I did a full body workout and it only took 33 minutes. What I do is, do one type of exercise (1 set) then go to a different body part exercise (1 set). Then repeat those 2. Then go to different exercises. So you never rest in terms of time, but you still get the rest between sets for each exercise. So it is time effecient but why I do it that way, is because it becomes a great cardio workout too. So a 2 fer 1. Cardio and Strength. And the body weight exercises were very good. Surprised I could do as well with them as with the weights. And no lugging around those weights.

So the whole thing was well worth it. Mon - Wed - Fri I will do that and see how it goes.

If I dont someone please get out the :whip:

Heather, I didnt layer this morning and it wasnt pleasant. First I didnt wear a hat. I had a scarf and put it over my head and ears. I think it had been warmer and I got hot so fast that I didnt prepare at all this morning and it was 28 degrees out. I will do better. Another scarf is a good idea too cause I wish I had it cause I would of put it over the lower part of my face, nose down and wrap it around the back of my head then bring it around to the front of my neck and hang it down towards my chest.

Hoping today will be a good day. I will go for a walk a little later. It is cold out there 27 degrees. Will layer up real good and put the long johns on too. Got to go shopping today, over to Walmart. We usually only go shopping once a week at most, sometimes every other week, cause the main shopping areas are 20 miles away from me. There are some food stores closer ( 3 and 6 miles away) but for anything else (or better variety) it is farther. It doesnt take too long to get to Hazleton cause you drive 60 miles an hour to get there, so cant complain.
Started upping my protein because I need that to start to build some muscle. I even found my whey, it is still good, it says it expires sometime in 2008. I have enough for at least a week. Maybe I will pick up some more at Walmart today or next week. It is pretty cheap there. The strength training must of been pretty effective yesterday cause my quads are still sore and now the triceps and chest feel it too. Not a hurt but a good sore feeling. Very happy with that! I have been looking at different weight lifting sites and getting some more ideas. My favorite site always was exrx.net , that site has everything anyone would need. I even went over to the forum at BB and was reading the journals of the girls over there. The main site at bodybuilding. com I dont really like. I guess because alot of the articles recommend and are centered on supplements. That is there main revenue from that site, their store stocked full of them.
Blah blah I best get off here and do some dishes then I will be able to get outside already.

I started using nutridiary.com instead of fitday. It has a ton more features but it is free too. It has places for measurements, BF% and BMI. and you can put the time down for eating and exercise. And you can track your water and you can store meals if you want instead of putting things in singly.

Hello Darlene..
Wow you are reallly doing great! I have been saying to myself that I want to join a gym with Tony. When I read posts like yours I am ashamed at my minimal work outs. I do walk, and I do the eliptical and stationary bike. But nothing compared to what you and others do. I need to work on this area. :o
Have a great week...

Darlene! You are just doing so well and you gave me some good sites to look at as well. I have a weight bench and weights, but haven't started any lifting yet. But I do want to do that before the year is over. I bought my husband a book called "The weight lifters Bible" and it has all kinds of good info in it, too. I'm going to check out the site you use as well....

Have a good walk and a great weekend! It's gorgeous here in Ohio, too, but brrrrrr.... chilly chilly chilly..... take care and keep up the inspiring work!

Hi Darlene,I like layering because I sweat but don't really realize how much til I get home and take everything off and sweating is good,I tie my second scarf around my face until I warm up then I tie it around my waist it helps to keep warmth in and plus makes my back feel better,so that is a added bonus.I worry about my arms building up too but I have lifted as much as 10lbs at a pretty consistent level and my arms just became more defined I loved my arms then, now I just do lots of repititions with 3lb weights which my arms are starting to look pretty good,I may go to the 10lb weights but not for a while yet, maybe come summer.I'll have to chk out them websites you posted, another good one that I have found that you can record everything is sparkpeople.com alrighty I am out, you are doing excellent keep up the good work and as always have a wonderful day today.

Hiya Dj. That book sounds good. And you are all set to start lifting, good for you. Yes check out that site exrx.net . They have workout templates too. And not only do they explain the exercise they have great graphics to show you how to do them correctly. Good luck and tell me how you do when you do start!

No dont do lots of reps with those small weights. That isnt too effective. You are building endurance that way. You want to do 8-12 reps. And use a weight that you struggle to get 12 with.
And dont worry about getting popeye type arms. You wont.
The women that get on the big size get that way mostly from diet and taking supplements. You will get some shape and just think how your metabolism will be raised when you add some muscle.
Also when you do aerobic type exercise you burn calories while doing it and just a couple minutes afterward.
When you do anaerobic exercise (lifting) you burn the calories (like aerobics) while doing it but you continue to burn extra calories for several hours afterwards
I got to go shopping now. Did my walk and that will be that for today.

Rest day for me today. Giving the old legs a breather. Those suckers are still sore.
There is no way for me to do legs 3 times a week. So will do them Tue and Friday and upper body will go to Mon and Thurs. And will work the upper body much harder than last friday. I can devote more sets if I break it up instead of doing a full body routine. Yeah, yeah, thats the ticket. :)
I figure that if I keep exercising good, I will keep Sundays as a full rest day. This old lady needs a break, I feel like exercising today, but I can tell the old body wants to take it easy. So I think it best to listen to it.
So this week it will be walking everyday(except Sundays). The weights/strength 4 days. Abs M W F. And if I feel like it throw in something else I will, but will concentrate on the walking and strength training.
Food is going good. Keeping it over 1600 and I think I can handle more cause the scale went down a pound this morning. Must be the increase in the walking that is burning up more calories. But I expect it to go up a pound by end of next week with the weight training. The extra water weight in the muscles. If I stay the same, I know it is just fat that coming off and no more muscle with fat. I could stand to lose some more fat. So if after a couple of months at staying about this weight, I will be losing that fat cause it will be an increase in muscle.
Sundays I will relax with the food too, but not too much and will still count all the calories.
:)

I think I win the prize with the most gabbing so this site. LOL.
Found a great bench online to buy. Now if I only had money. LOL.But showed Joe it, and he said he would get it for me for our anniversary (Dec.3). I never ask for anything for myself ever, even things for the house I usually get as presents instead of just buying them. He saw how much I wanted it and that it was a good price and said he would get it for me even before our anniversary. It is much better than the one I have. It has a leg curl attachment and preacher curl attachment. Was looking at lots of sites for the best price. And found alot of other toys that would be nice too. Not only do I have no money for them but no room. Now if I hurry up the kids to move out and get a job I could get them all.

Nancy the bench is from walmart.com, it doesnt say online only so it is at some of their stores. I am gonna call the store by me and see if they have it there first. So I dont have to pay for shipping. It is 50 dollars and for the shipping it comes to 67 dollars. Not to bad cause it is heavy. Here is the link.

It looks sturdy. And with walmart they can set good prices (unforunate to other businesses) but fortunute for us.

Hey, Darlene! That bench looks awesome! I have a good sturdy one, but it doesn't have the leg thingies. The only thing about my bench that I don't like is that it doesn't have a hole to change it to lay flat. kinda weird. But luckily, my husband is really handy and is going to drill a hole so it can be totally flat, too. I'll have to clear the bench now that we've got the health walker cleared. LOL They are sitting in a room that we've started construction on and boxes and things that we're not currently using have gotten put in there. I have a pretty good set of weights, too.... I'm looking forward to sitting down and checking out the site you recommended. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks again!

the bench I have now doesnt have the leg curl either. Look at the book you got too, that should have some good info in it.

Today I did a 40 min walk and then pulled out all my weights and did them. 52 min of upper body and abs. I am beat. So that will be all for today.

It is hard trying to get in as much protein as I would like. They say eat at the bare minimum 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Well this carb girl will shoot for at least 100 grams instead. That should be good enough. Plus I need the carbs for walking anyways. And I just plain want them. 8-|

I'll have to take you're advice on the weight thing too, I've been using the 3 lbs weights, but should move to at least 5 for now. Then increase it again in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the tip!!!

I got myself a calorie counter this weekend and found out that during the Biggest Loser DVD workout I burn about 218 calories. During 45min. volleyball game - 222 calories burned. Need to get in some more exercise to burn off more calories!!

Hi Darlene,

I like the video, I'm beginning to last longer on some of the rougher parts,so it's working. I did find out that I'm not burning as many calories as I thought doing it though, which is strange since I feel like a drowned rat when i'm done, so thought I was burning a lot. Will have to try something else to help burn more calories. Any suggestions???

Keep up the great work your doing!

Hi Darlene,

I did find out that I'm not burning as many calories as I thought doing it though, which is strange since I feel like a drowned rat when i'm done, so thought I was burning a lot.

If you are working out that hard then you are burning alot of calories.
Dont always go by what they say it burns, cause everyone is different and everyone has to work at different levels (degrees of effort) to achieve the end result. And you are burning x amount of calories now while doing it. After even 1 month, you wont burn as many calories doing the exact same thing. Becuase it will get easier for you.
So if you know you are working out good and hard, it doesnt matter what you are doing, you are working out hard for you and burning a good amount of calories. Hope that makes since Darcy. LOL.

No I dont know what would be harder. (Burn more calories)

Took my measurements today. I last took them on 10/31.
And I lost inches. I am pleased to say the least.:D
I measure in 8 places and lost 4 1/8 inches!!! :dc

Neck: -1/8"
Chest: -1/4"
Waist: - 1 1/4" !!!! yea
Ab: - 3/4" !!!!! yea
Hip/butt: same !!!!! yea
Left bicep: -1/4"
Left Thigh: -1"
Left Calf: - 1/2"

The waist measurement is the natural(narrowest part) of the waist.
The ab measurement is exactly across the belly button.
Hip/butt is at the widest part.

My hip/butt measurement is the same as last time. I dont want that any smaller at all. In fact my arms and legs I dont want smaller either.

But on the other hand the only masurements I care about and want smaller is the belly area. So was excited to see I lost an 1 and 1/4" inches gone from the natural waist and 3/4" from the belly button (ab) area. Yippee Skippee.

I only lost like 2 or 3 pounds since I took those measurements so I must of lost more fat than those pounds suggest.
Off to do upper body weights now. So I can lose the last of that belly fat. Woo Hoo. :lift:
Wish I started them along time ago. Oh well, live and learn!
The scale went down a pound. Now 123lb. Never ever thought I would see that number ever again. But am more physiced about the inches gone!!

Ah, Darlene.... sorry to hear your husband is giving you a hard time about coming here. I think men sometimes are a little insecure when we lose weight because they think we'll leave them. Maybe he'll get used to it and after awhile won't appear to be so threatened. I hope so.... I would miss you if you weren't able to come back to visit us.

You are doing SUPER! Very inspirational.... have a great week, Darlene!

You are all too sweet. :ghug: Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!

Everything has been going downhill since I last posted on Friday. My husband had me all upset then I after I just started lifting weights for my lower body workout on Friday, while doing squats, I hurt myself. :c(
I had just started and felt like I ripped my quad in half. Awful. So that got me more upset and that has lasted til even now.
Yeah Joe is exactly that. He felts insecure. He also doesnt like the fact that I can be my own person with my own goals/hopes/dreams. He wants me to be Darlene the wife, Darlene the mother, Darlene the house wife. Darlene that just does things for the family instead of doing that but doing things that make me a unique person. Not that I do anything unique, LOL. But things just for me. I dont neglect anything I ever did before so it is just him and in his head.
And after I hurt myself, Joe just kept telling me how wrong it was to do weights or anything for that matter. Cause I would just end of hurting myself again. So I was pissed at that.
So all weekend I sat around the house feeling sorry for myself but of him and because I was hurt. Just had an overall cloud hanging over my head feeling. And I hate feeling sorry for myself cause when it is over, I feel stupid for letting other people or things get under my skin.
Last night, (Monday) I had it out with Joe. Not a fight at all, but just me telling him everything I was feeling (I dont always do that with him because he just tells me to think differently LOL my feelings do not have an on and off switch). But he listened, and I also told him to start treating me better, not that he treats me bad at all, but never like I am special.
I dont know if anything will ever change, I have known him 20 years now, and he is what he is.
Anyways, I think he understands.

Enough of him, I cant believe I hurt myself. Felt like I just tore it is two. Lucky I didnt tear it, cause I could of.
But it was feeling alot better yesterday, I walked for 22 minutes slowly, and it was just alittle sore. And walked this morning for 20 minutes and it is almost all better.

So I screwed up my walking, cause that is always what I liked to do best, but thankfully I will be right back on track with that. Maybe I should just stick with that, I like it and when I keep up with it I do well with it.

Was even feeling so bad about myself i ate a donut for breakfast. I dont even like anything that sweet. That is what I used to do, and how I gained weight in the first place. I wasnt happy with myself and other things and just ate and ate cause I didnt care about myself. I weighed myself and am up a pound, didnt really eat too much, I think cause of not walking or exercising did it.

So enough for feeling sorry about myself, my leg is better so that is a great thing and will just accept that Joe is just Joe and that is the way it is. i know that sounds sad, but I am my own person first. And that is how it is gonna stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more tears just happy walking feet from now on!!!!

I got a lot of catching up to do around here.

Hey Richard, How are you my friend? You need to check into your journal and tell me how you are.
Thanks Darcy and Mcagle! Everything going real good at home. DH knows I am serious about how I was feeling and is being a sweetheart.

Nice walking yesterday. And it was warm. I picked a daisy of all things and my forsynthia (sp?) bloomed. LOL. That is how warm it is after the cold spell. It thinks it is spring. It has done that a few times since I lived here (18years). Still it is funny, no leaves and looks like everything is dead but my flowering bush.
Went for a walk this morning. It is supposed to pour later on. Plan on doing some weights a little later. I will not go so heavy so I dont hurt myself. I am afraid of them right now but I better get back at them before I dont do them at all. Like they say, get right back on the horse.

Terrible about the severe weather down south. Praying for those affected. It is raining here and the severe weather they say is a coming here later. Never had a tornado here, the mountains help with that I guess. And I live on the side of the mountain so any flash flooding never affects me. Fills my crawlspace though and got to get the sump pump out just in case. The river is about 150 ft lower in elevation than me and about 1/8 miles away. So that is never a problem but is for others.
Only flash flood warning running at the top of the tv. The winds wont pick up til later then they may put severe weather warning up. Just gonna put up some water in case the electricity goes out. Not that i think it will, but it has before and dont like being without water.
I cant believe we dont have any snow yet, not that that is really that unusual, just in the mood for it already.
Now I got to cook and make a list for exactly all to make for Thanksgiving. Usually have that done by now(other years) but food is not on top of my list of fun anymore. My youngest Jolene is all set to help cook everything. She really likes to cook and is getting better at it. She is a sweetie always helping with everything and anything and always with a smile. Not like my other girls. LOL.
41 min walk this morning, and 25 min pilates (for arms) before. No weights as I had planned. I looked at them and I just thought I would hurt myself again and opted for the pilates and just used light weights with that. A compromise but it worked out well. :)

Nov 1- 118 min ( 72min walks / 35min yoga / 11min abs)

Hello Dar,
We got hit here in Arkansas, but my area wasn't too bad. A lot of wind though.
Isn't each child like night and day? LOL My oldest hates helping...he thinks he wants to help, then I give him the chore and he doesn't want to anymore. My youngest, loves helping. Sometimes too much! LOL He is four, so you know how that goes. He wants to help mommy clean when mommy just wants to hurry up and get it done! So I give him a wet rag and tell him to wipe everything off, LOL But for some reason he just doesn't want to clean his own room, go figure.

Hi Darlene,I think you are doing the right thing by taking very good care of yourself and by taking time for you,you will be even more better than you already are at being Darlene the mom,Darlene the wife, and Darlene the housewife, and you missed one and that would be Darlene a very dear and wonderful person yup thats my opinion so never ever think you aren't worth the time that it takes you to do everything you need to do for you.I also hope your feeling better now since you injured yourself, make sure you take it easy so you heal and don't aggrivate it and make it worse, just take it slowly til you feel better.
I too am wanting snow, well at least by Thankgiving I love it at that time and we have had lots of it for the last 2 so crossing my fingers maybe this year we will see it too have a week to go,and by the temps we are having here right now it is possible, its been raining and very windy yuck so that may as well turn over to snow.Alrighty chickie I am outta here you have yourself a good one.

Nancy, yes they are lifestyle changes, but always fear the old lifestyle will come back. The planning of meals, then cooking them and then of course eating them was fun. Now I dont want to think of that at all, cause I dont want to go back to that. But that part of me is not gone, just buried inside of me.
People that havent dieted, just think if you lose the weight then all is well. But they dont understand that there are reasons most of us ate and gained weight to begin with and even if we lose the weight, those reasons dont vanish completely.

Mcagle, glad you didnt have that bad weather!!! We ended up with only moderate wind but the rain was heavy. But it was even heavier just to the west of me. ALOT of serious flash flooding. Lots and lots of roads closed this morning, some schools closed. They got hit real hard with the rain. No lose of life reported though, so that is good news.

Heather, I am watching out for myself. This old bird forgets she is 44, not that that is real old, but I got to realize I am not 20 anymore. I may act like I am 20  , but the body isnt that.

Now I got to do alot of cleaning cause the MIL is coming up on Wed and staying a couple of days, and no matter what, she will find something to pick at that is not right around here. Oh well, I will be too busy cooking and probably drinking beer to notice any comments she will make. :D

 Thats too funny "MIL WILL FIND SOMETHING NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU CLEAN"

It reminds me of a time I was at my MIL'S and her mom was at her home visiting, she always goes crazy cleaning before her mom comes and stays and as I was watching both of them,my MIL after dinner had a dish rag in her hand and was cleaning the table and her mom was standing right behind her with one in her hand waiting patiently for my MIL to be done washing the table and right when she walked away her mom did exactly what you could tell and knew she was going to do....yup she washed the table again lol it was too funny.Alrighty just checking in real quick but I have to leave now I'm doing just exactly what I said I wouldn't do.....I am sitting my butt here instead of walking,ok I'll be back have a good one.BTW you are not old.....I repeat you are not old....I repeat you are not old....oops said that already must be my age creeping up on me HeHe

lol the funny part about it is we are all mom's too and if I can speak for any of you other mom's including myself, don't we do the same darn thing with our own children lol ooooo they are in trouble lol, my daughter lived on her own all of 4 whole months and I did the same thing to her,I went grocery shopping with her.... on me of course lol the poor girl was starving lol but anyways when we got back to her apartment I was telling her that such an such a spot would be a better place to put cereal and can goods and so on an so forth yup I admit I turned into my own mother lol. There was once upon a time when my children were little that my mom came to my home to watch my children and after I returned home and she had left I noticed that she rearranged my lineon *sp? closet and my kids dressers and mind you I thought I was already very organized at that time lol in fact I was even more so then with lil ones than I am now with big kids ooooo teeenagers.

Oops think I just became a thread stealer Darlene....naw not me not at tall lol anyways yes definitely will be bringing the whip out on Wally if he says anything bout that....hmmmm was just wondering do you know where I can purchase me a whip?lol ok I'm out again for now

Hey, Darlene.... hope things go well with your MIL visiting for Thanksgiving. I'm lucky in that my MIL is the sweetest woman on the earth, but unfortunately she lives half way around the world and I don't get to see her often. I really miss being face to face with her.

My mom lives with us and that's hard sometimes, but she does let me organize and arrange things like I like them.... so that's not too bad. She was never into housework since she always worked outside the home even when I was little... so maybe that's why she just lets me do my thing. lol

I am sorry everyone for being away so long. I have had the most stressful week ever. My MIL's visit was to die for. Literally wished I died. :( Everything was awful. Only think good was that all the food I cooked came out well and they enjoyed it all. But the rest of the time was a disaster. Very depressing.
Didnt eat too much at all, didnt feel like eating when that holiday was the biggest eating day of the year in times past. Used to eat so much when I wasnt feeling that great, but now dont want to even look at food when I am down.
But better today. And hope the next couple of weeks will be good, til the next holiday comes to town. Christmas. Concentrating on yoga alot. So relaxing and so taxing at times also. Getting some new dvds in the mail soon, so that will be great.
Thanks so much everyone for dropping by my journal while I was MIA. It seems when I am not doing well mentally, I stay away from here. But that is the time I should really be coming here alot. Sorry for the hiding! :)
Will update my exercise minutes for the month tomorrow.
Take care!

Feeling good today. Havent been eating meat lately. I have been a on and off vegetarian always. Mostly off. I always feel better when I am though.
It just happens sometimes that when I am preparing some kind of meat that it starts grossing me out and I think of eating some other things flesh that all of a sudden I cant eat it anymore. Still eating dairy products though.

Having a lazy day today, just gonna take it easy the whole day. Maybe practice a little yoga later.

Instead of yoga or anything else for that matter, I took a nice nap this afternoon. That was much needed after the hectic week I had. Eating better today after not eating too much this week. Havent counted calories in a while, just eating healthy and with no meat.
They are having burgers tonight, i will have some pasta with garlic and some veggies. Yum.

Hi Darlene.... I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad time with your MIL. That's just the worst when family makes things unbearable for you. Will you have to go through the same at Christmas time? I hope not.

At least it sounds like you aren't turning to food when you are down any longer and that's so good! It gives me hope that when I am further in my journey/recovery that I'll be able to find other ways of coping, too.

I think yoga is great, but taking a nap and being up on sleep is SO important. It's good that you are taking care of yourself. Sometimes an unplanned nap is such a gift and just what the "dr. ordered".... lol

Take care of yourself and I hope your week is a good one..... hopefully you'll soon be all recovered from your Thanksgiving.

Thanks Dj! I had a case of stress non-eating instead of stress eating. LOL. That was a first.
I dont know if MIL is coming up for Christmas, she was supposed too, but DH says we may just go visit for the day then. It would be easier for him because she doesnt drive anymore and it is an almost 4 hour round trip to get her and then that also to bring her back. So for us to go down there it is 2 hours then stay a while before another 2 hours return trip.

And my van isnt working and his car is a 5 seater. And there are 6 of us, I may just have to stay home while they go!!!!!!!!!!!
That is my hope anyways!!

Hey Heather. I think the stressful time was something I could of done something about. Meaning it was partly my fault. Looking back now at it. I expected a bad time and instead of expecting a good time or trying to make it a good time. I got stressed out and mad and sad because I was feeling sorry for myself even before the holiday started and MIL arrived. Instead of praying and having God and my faith be my guide and rule my heart, I just let bad thoughts and negativety rule me.
Now I feel real bad at the whole thing.

I like how you phrased it "I see your now doing yoga". LOL.
If it not one thing, it is another, or nothing. I seeing through this whole journaling thing, I am an inconsistant person. Will that ever change? I dont know. I have alot of interests and never favor one for too long it seems. Even in other things. I do like the yoga though. I just do the best I can with it.

Well I got the house finally to myself again. Off to cleaning now and do some exercise later.

Inconsistant isn't a bad thing though. You'll never be boring! I like your attitude of looking in and seeing what you could have done differently instead of placing blame on someone else. It's very refreshing, but make sure you aren't too hard on yourself during your soul searching. I have been accused of being too hard on myself when I think I could have handle things very differently, but to me it is just all a part of being ever changing. I know how you feel on it though, cause there are family members that I definately wish I could see in a different light cause it just seems like I'll never have that time back when I really enjoyed being around them because of things that have happened or have been said just gave me a different perspective on them. Sometimes its hard not to see the positive for all of the negative that stands up front and center.

I don't think being inconsistent with the exercises is that bad either. It gives you a chance to do something different and then you don't get as bored with the same ole same ole. I've changed my workouts around once in a while, it's nice - gives you something fresh and may even give you a better work out!

Keep pluggin away!!

I am definitely not knocking what you are doing at all,I think change is great when you are going in the right direction,I don't agree that your an inconsistent person,I think you are very consistent, consistently applying yourself to doing new things which is great!!!!Me on the other hand I take what works and yoga looks painful to me.....too painful for me but it is wonderful that you will continue to give anything a good go at it.The point is you have not given up and you are continuing to do well and to be an inspiration to me and many others so I thank you Missy.

Mcagle: That is a good way to look at it, me not boring. LOL.
I have been accused of being too hard on myself when I think I could have handle things very differently, but to me it is just all a part of being ever changing.Yes we are to be ever changing, ever changing for and to the better. Now the real thing is to apply lessons learned in the past to actions in the future. Thanks for your prespectives.

Darcy: That is true, changing exercise so you are not bored with it. I was never bored with my walking though. I think when it is nicer again I will go on longer walks more often. It is nice to be outside.

Heather: I am definitely not knocking what you are doing Girlie, I never thought that for a second. And I wasnt really knocking myself when I say I am inconsistant.
I think you are very consistent, consistently applying yourself to doing new things which is great!!!!
I am only very consistent at being inconsistent. . I see how I am writing this one may think I am feeling sorry for myself or something, but I am LMBO as I write.

But it is all good, cause when I stop doing something, I do something else. And then eventually will go back to something I was doing before.

So my new "PLAN" is to have no plan but to do something I feel like doing everyday. So it is a plan but a vague plan. I want to do something active, not only to be active in of itself, but also am scaried if my mindset if off exercise etc, I will gain the weight back. I think of that often that one day I wont care and just go back completely and end up worse than when I started all this, because it has happened before.

So I walked with Jolene in the morning. And did a yoga DVD before. Just what I wanted to do when I woke up,not what I had planned the other day, so all was enjoyable.

Nothing much new. It is my Dad's birthday today, I called him and Ma this morning. He is 66 years old today. They are both doing A-Okay. They live in Florida. My Ma has Sceladerma and can't take the cold (physically) and they couldnt stand Jersey anymore and moved down there.
Walked with Jolene this morning 25 minutes and did 25 minutes of yoga. Just watching the Pope on the tv right now and gonna make pancakes in a minute for the kids for breakfast. so they can just pop them in the microwave in the morning. Almost out of cereal so that will do for now.

Cable company sent a letter they are raising it AGAIN. $2.50. Now it will be 47 dollars even. Imagine I had any HBO or anything what that would cost....I just got the letter out that would be an extra 19 dollars. LOL
Anyways they say they are adding SoapNet, Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel. I dont know those Hallmark channels, must be family oriented channels and the movie channel , those old Hallmark movies. Well better than nothing I guess. Maybe pretty good in fact.

Hungry, hungry , hungry these past few days. But I have been busy doing stuff around here so maybe that is why. The body using up more calories than normal.

And my vegetarianism is over already. LOL. That didnt last long at all. Oh well.

That be that for now. The Pope is leaving the church over in Istanbul so that should be over in a minute and off to make the pancakes after I post in the exercise forum. :)

soapnet love it, love it, love it,and hallmark channel is very good too, that is if you like sentimental tear jerkers lol but Wally doesn't care for that channel but I guess thats why we have 2 tv's so poohie on him lol.Your bill sounds pretty good compared to mine hmmm wonder why I just got rid of all the hbo, showtime channels because my bill was 139.but now after getting rid of that it is 83. and it doesn't sound like mine is anymore than what you have,I do have 5meg with my internet but they were running a special which will be up by Dec. so I will be going back down to 3meg,I have to say though once the holidays are over I am getting back my movie channels because if I don't I will never see movies hubby and I rarely go to the movies nor do we rent so I will be calling back soon.Do you have the phone special where you live thru cable? We won't have it til the beginning of next year but that sounds like a good savings on having a phone.

It was just my dad's b-day too on the 27th he turned 70 and he and my mom constantly are saying their moving south, they go to Tennessee all the time,my brother lives down there, they even at one point listed their house which thankfully they changed their minds, even at 38 I couldn't stand it if they moved that far away think I would be following them, then of course I would miss my sister's though too so nope that would not be good.My brother comes up here twice a year and stays at least a week each time so thats always nice to see him but I don't see his kids much so thats the down side, they are grown now so they don't come home much anymore.

I don't know how you could go without meat any how I couldn't do it,I like cows too but I figure by me not eating meat I still aint going to save the cow.Awwww poor cows and pigs anyways, that is sad when ya think about it,what a horrible job that would be....for the cow killer and the cow awwww geez ok here goes my wacky mind again lol you take care I will be back, you are doing great!!!

Don't you just hate paying out money for the necessities in life... utilities and cable seem so expensive these days. Our cable is really expensive, but we have computer and telephones on that and we rent two DVR boxes. We now wonder how we ever lived without DVR. LOLOL

Happy birthday, Mr. Darlene's dad.... lol My mom is 76 now. Where has all the time gone to?? She's getting older which means I'm getting older!! GAACCKK!!!

That's a really good idea about doing pancakes ahead so the kids can microwave them! Mine are grown and gone, but I make them soup to freeze and salsa all the time. They go through salsa like there's no tomorrow. lol Good thing I don't mind making it.

Take care Darlene and have a good rest of your week!

Heather- No I cant get phone with the cable company. Happy belated Birthday to your Dad! Yeah the poor cows and pigs. :c( And dont forget the little chickens. Aw. I cant think of that, that is how it starts. LOL.

Dj- Thanks for the Happy Birthday to my Dad. You are making me want to make some salsa. I never made that for some reason. I make some soups. I make a good Lentil some that is really healthy. Just lentils, tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion, water and spices. I will need to pick up some lentils maybe this weekend.

Got a walk done and pilates, maybe do something else later, maybe not. I ate way too much yesterday. I got to watch that big time. Scale said 124 this morning and if I dont watch it, it will just keep moving up and got to nip that in the bud now! Will be good til Sunday. Joe and I are going out to eat for our anniversary. And I know where he will want to go. He will want to go to the Old Country Buffet, the place where he dont have to dress up and mind his manners. LOL. If he is comfortable going somewhere, he wont go. And he is not a fancy restaurant type guy. So that will have to do cause if I dont go with him, I will just end up staying home and cooking myself. LOL.
I will try to do better than I usually do there, get some veggies and fruit in first. I hope!

Well happy anniversary to you and Joe,there is nothing at all wrong with country buffet I love that place too but yah it is easier to over do it on the buffet because of course they let you just take as much as you like, hey maybe if you are really good today,Friday, and Saturday Sunday won't hurt you at all then just get back down to business on Monday.Wowza listen to me,I know easier said than done but girlie I know you can do it!!Oh BTW Wally isn't in to fancy either in fact cracks me up our once in a blue moon that he does try to dress up,I don't know he just doesn't get it quite right, he is too much of a jeans man that it doesn't really work too good but SHHHHHH......we won't tell him that lol alrighty woman you have yourself a very good day!!!

No we won't tell him.
And thanks for the Happy Anniversay wishes.
Yes easier said than done. We both know how to do it, we are becoming quite the experts too at this. LOL. But doing it is always the tricky part.

Well we didnt get the 2000 minutes done this month. But look at you girlie, you got over 1500. Good for you! I know you had some hard days with the diet, but you should be very happy with getting that many done. Me, I just had some lazy days when I should of at least got out to walk for a half hour or so. Well live and learn and do better next time they say.

Got to 1418 in minutes done this month. Not too bad but not too good. I really wanted to do more at the beginning of the month. December will be hard with the kids home for a while and Joe home a few days. But wont let them get too much in my way. Will have to work around them being here and do that for me.

Oh I almost forgot, Joe is going down to visit his Mom instead of her coming here for the visit. :) He is going down the Saturday before Christmas and stay a while and drive back that day. My oldest daughters that work, Kathy and Eva, will be at work. He said he will just go down with Lizzie and Jolene. And I said what about me? He said, You just stay home because you dont like that long drive anyways. YIPPEE SKIPPY!!!
I am so relieved. The other day he was talking about holiday stuff and I had knots in my stomach just thinking about it. Now all will be great.
Now I can enjoy the holiday for a change. :)

okay. walk today 44 minutes and pilates 45 minutes and that be that for today. Tracking calories today as i did yesterday. Yesterday for about 2000 and they had a bunch of junk calories included in that. So far so good today. Gonna stay with the counting all the calories now. Cause I knew yesterday was going to be high, but when I finished adding them up this morning I didnt realize it was that high. So going to track them as I eat them so I know where I stand exactly. that should help alot.

Scale is down the pound it said I gained. Ate much better yesterday and guess I released the whatever (water or what not).

Practiced yoga and did my walk this morning. It was 60 degrees this morning 5am. Gee Whiz this warm air system is mighty strong. When the other system meets it later today, hope it is not too bad. They say strong winds, but they said that last time and it didnt happen too bad. Nice walk, was out at 7am with short sleeves and it was really warm.
Yoga went very well. Bryan Kest's Power Yoga 1. It is not like other power yoga is terms of it being faster, but that it is more intense and builds up heat in the body by holding the poses longer. My arms get a good workout from yoga(holding alot of body weight with just arm strength). I am noticing some good improvement the past few sessions. Getting stronger I can tell alot, also alittle more flexibility. But just a little in that department. Never will be even close to what ppl that have been doing that along time and started younger. But I really like it and look forward to it and that is what counts the most. And it is good for old birds like me to do.

Goal for December exercise minutes is 1800.

Did a few weights also. They say we have a severe thunderstorm watch.(no snow , no ice coming at all etc.) BUT there are about a dozen early school dismissals on TV. Guess cause of the bad winds coming. That has never happened before in my 18 years here, dismissal cause of rain/wind. It is making me nervous. Not that it takes alot to make me nervous with the kids (3 of them) riding 20 miles back from high school to get home. It is just that they ride along the top of the mountain to get home. Yes I am a nervous mother when it comes to the kids maybe getting hurt ever. :( I over worry)

I may not be on til tomorrow late sometime, will be busy the next 2 days. So will check in when I can.

Dec 01- 100 minutes (40 walk/ 50 yoga/ 10 weights)

TORNADO touched down and went by 10 miles north of me. Jeepers Creepers. Had the tv on after 4 or so and and they say tornado warning for me, shown on dopler radar but also eye witnessed. Scary for a little while but all is well with me anyways. The local yokel news cut off the tv program thank goodness and went live with the updates. I am NOT used to that kind of stuff in these parts! I dont even have a basement, just a crawl space. (where I live that is the norm, because of all the rock under the dirt/clay.)(I only know of one person that has a basement) They say the food store up there about 15 miles north had shopping carts flying all around and 5 of the big windows broke in. They had a cashier on talking (teenage girl) saying how scared they were. They also said about 6 people went to the hospital from there but nothing serious at all.
Heard sirens up the main road. Guess will find out much more in the morning.
Anyways, got big shopping tomorrow. Maybe get the tree if there is time.

UGH, living in Arkansas I know exactly how you feel! I used to have a storm shelter and for the 2 years I had that we NEVER had a tornado warning. Then we move away from it and guess what...yep, sure enough! LOL Go figure! I'm scared to death of tornadoes. I have even seen one before, not a real big one and only for a few seconds, but I thought I my heart would beat right out of my chest!

Oh Mcagle. I would of been scared to death too!

Well they said on the tv that the NWS has to authenicate the tornado even though there were eye witnesses, and you can see the trail it left. But that is their job. Saw on Fox news them talking about it. LOL.

Wo
