Upon learnin' the news this a.m., shortly after the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice, that the ship carryin' the sacred ULTRA GOAL (125 pounds) towards the Lighthouse o' Maidens initiated to seek said ULTRA GOAL by June 10 has sunk off the eastern shore. No one was injured in the shipwreck, but sadly, it will NOT be reachin' the Maidens by June 10.

However, news o' the disaster quickly reached headquarters of the Universal Lighthouse o' Maidens Seekin' Weight Management Sanity and A Deeper Understandin' o' the Nature o' ULTRA GOAL. Organizers of the Lighthouse Project decided on the spot to immediately send out a new ship carryin' ULTRA GOAL with an estimated arrival date at the Lighthouse o' Maidens by July 15.

A meeting was held in the Lighthouse, led by Diet Wise Woman 'n Maiden leadership. It was decided that henceforth all members of this super secret society will be known as MWWW125OJ15 (Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15).

For anyone out there who thinks we are bothered by this turn of events or that we will not reach our goal, please see our favorite Queen Victoria quote: "Please understand that no one is depressed in this house. We are not interested in the possibilities of failure. They do not exist."

Havin' come to the realization that a slight weight gain renders it highly unlikely that she'll reach 125 by June 10, Maiden ESA hath joined other members o' the Secret Cadre o' Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15. She has posted the following Sunday goal towards this new initiative at Lighthouse Project:

Eat no more than 1550 calories!

She pledgeth to post a report on this goal by tomorrow morning

Good luck with phase two. Who knows maybe the ship will arrive earlier then expected. Sorry for the lose of your first ship. Though, like you said its not a tragedy, no one was hurt.

Amarantha
04-15-07, 04:53 PM
Thanks, Smallfri!!!! I am confident the ship will arrive earlier than expected! :cruise: I wanted to extend the date to acccommodate the regain, though. I don't want to work on a project for months when I know I can't comfortably reach the goal!

Ok, sis boom 'n bah, curses to the DK (Diet Kraken) 'n clear sailin' ahead (not to mention Deal or No Deal to which silly show I am addicted) 'n maidens all asleep in their bunkies 'n no reason fer me to eat again tonight so a quickie note on the goal of 1550 cals for Sunday: Cals actually 1535!!!

X, which wasn't a goal as I need rest, was a one-mile walk with heavyhand and jog intervals thrown in for good measure! :flower:

Maidens are on deadline duty at their place of employment in Nonvirtual Village (a really scary place) 'n as they sailed :cruise: off to said village, lo, a message appeared in the Monday (blah) mornin' sky just as the sun rose 'n it said:

MONDAY GOAL: 1550 CALS OR LESS, EXERCISE ANY AMOUNT!!!!

That was all that happened. End o' Monday mornin' story. There is no more. Film at 11.

Amarantha
04-17-07, 03:16 AM
Brevity report as t'is past bedtime at the Lighthouse 'n not a maiden be a'stirrin' exceptin' fer ESA who be fallethin' asleep, so not to put too fine a point on the thing, we are endin' eatin' day at 1540 'n fer exercise we jogged 1.25 miles with walkin' breaks ... foot still slightly injured from massive blister on bad toe, must be careful with that as we have a race on Saturday.

Since the maidens seem to be in steady state with a focus on upper cal limit (such a horrid word, how 'bout "magic number" instead) o' 1550 PLUS "exercise" (no specified parameters, just do somethin'), the Streak Committee o' the Secret Society o' LMWWW125OJ15 (Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15) met earlier this evenin' and decided to hold a streaky challenge for those goals THROUGH Wednesday.

EDITED THIS SENTENCE AS REALIZE I'LL HAVE A FOUR-DAY STREAK IF I GET THE 1550 LIMIT THROUGH WEDNESDAY: Any maidenly participant who is successful in meeting a no more than 1550 cals and exercise target on Tuesday and Wednesday (thus producing a 4-day streak o' same), will win a prize!

Please see any member o' the Streak Committee for details!

Well, there aren't any details, actually. That's it, eat no more than 1550, do some exercise.

It's the SIMPLICITY STREAK!

Amarantha

Tuesday X report: Done 'n done, did weights 40 minutes. One half of Tuesday goal met. Be there be square. Sail away, sail away, sail away ... :cruise:

Simplicity...rules! I like it. Have you picked out anything as a reward for when you meet the 4-day goal today? Plan ahead, chica, and pick out something really nice, because you are going to do it. Take care.

Ahoy, Athletea -

I saw a lighthouse bedspread in one of my catalogs today, and of course I thought of you.

Happy sailing -

Amarantha
04-17-07, 08:28 PM
Nay, Cfj, haven't thought of a reward yet ... but the 4-day will be after I get through Wednesday! And I am seein' snowbird friends who will wanna lunch, but I am a woman on a mission and will prevail!!!! Thanks fer the visit!!!

Ahoy, JoJo, thanks also fer the visit 'n the mention o' lighthouse merchandise!!!

Update: The Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15 are out back 'o their lighthousey lair 'n playin' streakin' games (don't worry, they are dressed), so the entity known as "I" will just post here that "I" have finished supper and am at EXACTLY 1550 cals, makin' tonight a bit tricky as I'll want a snackie, but "I" am into the STREAK now and will prevail!!! Blood sugar is very good and should be fine!

X today was 40 minutes of weights! All goals met!

Streak Score: Endin' eatin' day at 1545! Day 4 in the bag! Film at 11!

Yay!

On to Day 5!

Eljay
04-19-07, 09:25 AM
I love streaks! Hello, I'm eljay, and although I am in no position to be a LMWWW125OJ15, my son does have a comforter/quilt on his bed that does, in fact, have a lighthouse worked into it. I could be a HMWWWW200OJ15 (Horseback married wife who will weigh 200 on July 15) but I feel that the lighthouse maidens have a great thing going here, so my horses and I will not impinge on their turf/surf. Anyway, I'm wishing you smooth sailing.

Amarantha
04-19-07, 11:42 AM
Huzzah, Eljay!!!

There's a stable out back o' the Lighthouse proper, with nice fresh hay for any passin' equine friends, so come on in anytime!!! Thanks fer the visit!!!

The Maidens are off to Non Virtual Village for the MOST CHALLENGING DAY OF THE WEEK and before they boarded the ferryboats they had a brief ceremony in the courtyard and listened to inspirational words from Diet Wise Woman, who is taking over the organization of the LIGHTHOUSE MAIDENS' SIGNATURE STREAK GAME O' 1550 CALS OR LESS!

"Huzzah," said DWW, "Maidens, seein' as how ye've done four days o' this, let's go for five!!!"

Bein' a Diet Wise Woman o' few diet words, that was all it took to get the maidens to shout, "Huzzah!"

'N they were off!

X will be done today and is a part o' the overall Lighthousey program, but it is not part of the 1550 or less streak-a-rama!

Be there or be square!

Film at 11!

Maidens will not return until WAY late. A cooler each has been packed to make the journey streak safe!!!

It was touch 'n go yesterday with blood sugar woes 'n friends wantin' us to eat stuff but WE DID 'ER, so why stop now?

Why, indeed!

Sis boom 'n bah!

Amarantha
04-20-07, 11:12 AM
The Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15 unanimously voted yesterday to continue playin' the streak-a-matic-game!!! So cals for Streak Day 5 ended at 1550 exactly!

It was a very long "away" day 'n the Self Sabotage Demon did keep lurkin' 'round 'n whisperin' that a binge would be fun, but so far that has been kept at bay by Lighthouse Bay Security!

Marginal exercise now until we do our race tomorrow. X for Thursday was a noon walk in park with an older friend who didn't feel really well, so it was EZ but EZ walkabouts are soothin' 'n good for the bod and do count as X. Same friend and I did a light weight workout later in the day when I went back to visit her and that was also very nice and soothin' fer the bod.

This is 1550 Cal Streak Day 6!

An all-star in plan is another Dee's Mighty Muffin, a package of which I found ready made at Sprouts on Wednesday. I have her cookbook (refined sugar and flour free) and the muffins have previously been marketed in mix form. The ready made ones are very good ... I don't know if they are being sold nationally, she lives in this area, has classes, I think ... I may take one.

Thanks be fer the good wishes on the race, which was only a mile so actually it was over before I even got tired. My friend did very well on the 5K and we both had a fun mornin' ... I should have done the 5K but am satisified with my effort, which was a totally running mile (except for a slight walk break on a hill that got to me) ... and yes I wore socks but the blister from previous race has not healed yet and so foot bled yet again.

Am back on 1550 streak game and this is Day 1. Maidens are off to take a second shower now.

DETERMINED to take workday hiatus today and tomorrow even though will be behind again on Monday!

Brain not workin' ... huzzah!

Ahoy, the MWWW125OJ15 (Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15) are off to have lunch out with a friend and then do some shoppin' ... lunch will be an exercise in eatin' out with a sane cal count as the Maidens have reinstituted their streaky game o' 1550 cals or less 'n this be Day 2, havin' had a successful Day 1 yesterday!

This be a day off from formal exercise.

Weight be down 1.3 ... had hoped for just a TAD more, but that's Ceremonies o' Golden Scales fer ye! Can't complain 'n the race be on!

Read all about it! Lighthouse Maiden goals set for week to faciliate 1550 or less streak:

Sunday: 1550 cals or less, rest from X

Monday: 1550 cals or less, X optional

Tuesday: 1550 cals or less (borin', isn't it?), weights

Wednesday: 1550 cals or less, jog or walk or other X

Thursday: 1550 cals or less, weights

Friday: 1550 cals or less (special challenge is a business lunch, but this is a good opportunity for practicin' makin' good choices), jog or walk or other X

Saturday: 1550 cals or less, exercise optional

THIS GOAL LIST AND PARTICIPATION IN THIS CHALLENGE IS PART OF MY OVERALL PLAN TO WEIGH 125 ON JULY 15 AND IS ALSO PART OF MY NEW 1550 OR LESS PERSONAL STREAK, OF WHICH THIS (Sunday) IS DAY TWO! Whew!

Have a good day 'n I will, too!

"Maiden, ESA," saith Diet Wise Woman, "hast thou noticed that thy exercise frequency, intensity and time has been edgin' downward instead o' upward recently? D'ye think there's a reason why this is happenin'? Can it be that ye've lost ye'r sis boom 'n bah ? :cheer: :coach: :lift: Are ye ailin', lass? Are ye agin'? Are ye losin' it? Are ye tired? Are ye exercisin' less but enjoyin' it more? Pray tell!"

"All o' the above, Diet Wise Woman," saith ESA. "Why do ye ask?"

"Just interested," saith DWW.

"Thanks for your interest," ESA replieth. "Can I do anythin' else fer ye?"

"No, that's all," saith DWW.

Back up again with the exercise, huh? Don't forget to rest enough for the gains to translate into better performance, too. Sometimes, you need some rest, and a few more calories for 48 hours or so to keep from over-training and stagnating. I see more people with over-training issues, than people that don't work out enough, for big events like marathons and such.

Have a great week. I hope that you stay under 1550 all week! Take care.

Well Athletea,

Did the hocus pocus focus work today?

I think you did great running a mile in the race. I couldn't do it, no matter how hard I tried. This new knee doesn't seem to like running, I'm afraid. Or else I am terrified of trying it. I am so afraid of falling, since it would take me forever to get back up.

Work finished for the nonce! The Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15 (LMWWW125OJ15) just disembarked from a grueling 14-hour day in Nonvirtual Village where they sat in their offices and worked all day, except for breaks in which they re-read the "Clean-Eating Diet" book to relax (rather than binge eatin') 'cause they were all determined to have a successful 1550 cal streak day despite deadlines. Tempus fugit.

Boy, does it ever.

Cals stand at 1545 and all maidens have vowed to make it to the end and call this Day 3 o' the streak.

On to Day 4.

X=1.5 mile jog, slow!

Have a casual number in head of how many miles I want to do this week. No races on the docket for awhile, so shall increase strength and endurance and maybe do a tad better than the last one, although was happy just to participate ... but would like a FEW more people finishing after me.

I did beat out a six-year-old, though.

Really.

But speedy, I will never be.

Worked for The Penquin, though!

aria2000
04-24-07, 08:43 AM

:coach: Meetin' o' LMWWW125OJ15: After hearin' that this is DAY 4 o' the so-far successful 1550 or less streakabout, Diet Wise Woman sent out a general "huzzah" to the membership 'n everyone drank a Crystal Light Energy servin' 'n went to the Lighthouse gym fer a 20-minute circuit workout with very light weights, going no higher than four pounds! The plan bein' to go for a SHORT SHORT SHORT fast jog ... even a few minutes will be beneficial ... then all will be goin' their separate ways fer the day's business! EDITED IN: Did the shortie: .25 mile as fast as possible, total week's running so far 2 miles.

It is cold here! We do not like bein' cold as we are creatures o' the desert, transported somehow to this magickal lighthousey shore!

Nevertheless we soldier on! Soldier, soldier, soldier.

Strange Diet Muse, a crone from Outlandish Diet Offshore Island, dropped in to the meetin' 'n made some strange mutterin' sounds o'er the group o' assembled Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15 'n their leaders, including Diet Wise Woman. The words sounded like:

"I am sick 'n tired o' all this shilly shallain' 'round this here Lighthouse 'n the excuses 'n the reasons why MWWW125OJ15 are still harborin' secret thoughts that they CAN'T reach their goals, they CAN'T hit their cal targets, they CAN'T exercise, they CAN'T run fast, they CAN'T do stuff in general!!! So ... mutter ... mutter ... get the lead out, Maidens, 'n LET'S GO DO 'ER! ... if not now, when?"

Shortly thereafter, Diet Wise Woman adjourned the meetin' ... here is a portrait o' Strange Diet Muse: :coach: ... she also looks a bit like this: :whip: ... and there's a distinct resemblance to X-( ... she's REALLY scary! Hope the Maidens don't have nightmares tonight.

Everyone was a little miffed that Strange Diet Muse was allowed to speak at the meetin' 'n they discounted her opinions on their dedication. A committee was formed to document VALID REASONS why the cadre in general has NOT reached ULTRA GOAL (125).

Valid Reasons:

1) We have to work so we sometimes have to binge on bad food to compensate.

2) We sometimes have sinus infections and our back and feet are sometimes dysfunctional.

3) We are sometimes sad.

4) It rains sometimes.

5) It is society's fault.

6) It is the fault of the food manufacturers in this country as they produce bad food and hydrogenate it all and use high fructose corn syrup in everything and we are FORCED to eat all this stuff because we are too busy to shop for and cook real food.

7) Life s*cks. For more details, see 1-5 above.

8) We are getting older each year, which is actually good in a way (better than the alternative) but results in wrinkles, strands of a strange color in our hair, and the aforementioned back and foot problems.

9) We want to eat cake sometimes. It is the fault of the cake manufacturers.

10) All of the above.

The LMWWW125OJ15 (Lighthouse Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15) held a secret ceremony this mornin' led by Diet Wise Woman. It was very secret but they could be heard a'chantin' 'n the words sounded like: "All hail the magickal number ... Somethin' made me think 'bout my younger bro's death today. No drama, as it was approximately seven years ago. :)

I'm postin' 'bout it just to get it in for the Lighthouse record, for myself, not anyone else.

So much o' this continuing saga o' why I keep on goin' on the health and fitness fronts have to do with his leaving, although truly I was very dedicated to my original weight loss at that time. I remember taking apricots to the hospital during those days to keep me from hitting the vending machine, writing in my little diet notebook during the dark hours of the night there, weighing myself the morning of the funeral (now THAT was a little crazy  ).

Since then I've only once, briefly, hit my original goal of 135 healthy pounds, and now I have a new goal of 125, and I keep a'goin' and one o' those reasons is because he had not been able to do the same ... keep on a'goin' ... he never reached his health goals, so I will do 'er for both o' us.

All in all, as happens in every life, I have lost many friends and loved ones ... includin' my sweet mom and my beloved Olde Dogge, who was perhaps the closest creature to me in life. But it is all good and as it should be and it only strengthens my resolve to live a healthy and successful existence as far as that power is extended to me.

Some things recently have been said to me (not for the first time) that there are more important things in life than weight and physical fitness.

Probably there are.

I just know that, for me, this journey is an expression of all that is important and healthy and sane in this fragile little space of time I call my TIME TO BE ALIVE!

I did not arrive here, kicking and screaming in the universe with not a clue as to what it's all about in order to live in a body that is less perfect that I can make it (it will never be totally perfect ... how could it be?).

So for me, the journey continues and the journey is important, and nothing in this lifetime will deflect me from takin' up this challenge, though I be weary sometimes 'n discouraged.

However ship suffered several hard attacks and fell short of goal only reaching 154 to then only sink the the bottom of me ocean and not even Jack Sparrow can find me now at a heavy ship weight of 207!!!!!!

You give me hope once again that I can in fact make it to the shore without having to walk the plank.

Huzzah, Aria 'n Sunnymiss (hey, I told Jack ye were a' lookin' fer him, missie!!! :cruise: )

Sadly the amazin' streak o' 1550 or less blazed to an end at Lighthouse Island today (the bulb went out)!!! However, all Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15 all signed up for a new streaky game to start tomorrow, which will be Day 1 o' the third round o', ye guessed 'er, that good ol' magickal number o' 1550!!!

There was no profound reason why the maidens let the light go out and the game end, they just needed more food today. Cals ended in low 2000s!

Film at 11!!!

This is Day One o' the Maidens Who Will Weigh 125 on July 15's newest 1550 cal streak and the Lighthouse Streak Committee met with Diet Wise Woman this mornin' and agreed that the game SHOULD include a day off somehow, probably Friday as that sets me up for a non-cheaty Saturday before weigh-in. We shall see ... I need to stop the anxiety that Friday's been dealin' me lately (too many folks can get at me on that day) and continue to try for mayhap a higher cal day with extra treats, but compliance with the new MWWW125OJ15 Code of Conduct, which will be developed soon.

So far (and the day's only half over), I feel really in control of food and more and more in love with that Magickal Glowin' Number in the Sky: 1550!

I also have cleaned house, pulled weeds, paid some bills and organized the rest o' the ones I've been ignorin', called SIL, studied the really scary situation of a leak near the main water line by the street and decided that it's marginally on the county easement and therefore not my problem, did laundry, shopped for dinner, and ran two miles despite knee having flared up this week (I just put a brace on it and had at it, seems fine, old maid docs would have me not run on it at all until there's a COMPLETE and UTTER lack of any creak or flutter, but by then I'd be 100 years old).

Now I really will rest and read or surf internet or mayhap have lunch. Not really hungry at all today.

:spring: :flower: :cruise:

Closing this thread and all interested parties can see the lighthouse estate agent in Diet Town Square ... or just go to new Lighthouse journal.
