View Full Version : New here
teteia87 05-06-07, 11:18 PM This is my first journal ever, unfortunally I can´t say this is the first time I go on a diet:c( I`m brazilian, borned and raised in Rio de Janeiro, but right now I´m living in São Paulo (my aprents got transfered to here). I´m 20 years old, and i´ve been on and off diets since i was 16 years old, i was get to my goal weight, but usually when that happens i start a long term relationship and i tend to put on my weight back within a year. However, this time I decided to take sometime for myself so i´m studying, got a dog instead of a boyfriend lol  and i´m about to start my first job in a month or so. I´m going to start a diet tomorrow and i´m commiting myself to walk my dog at least 30 minutes everyday, i hope i can loose some weight and start to feel good about myself again :) I found this site "googling" around, and I decided to join so i could talk to people who went through or are going through the diet process, and hopefully make new friends and find and give support to others.:)
XOXO

JoThrive 05-07-07, 12:20 AM Hi, Priscila:
Welcome to Diettalk and to the journal forum. I'm glad you have started a journal, it is a great way to get acquainted. You will find lots of friendly support and suggestions for you as you work at losing those unwanted lbs.
Losing weight is difficult, but it is not impossible. Just take it a day at a time, eat a healthy mix of good foods, control the size of the portions, drink an ample amount of water, and get some exercise. And we will all be cheering you on.
The best of luck to you.
Hi Priscila  & :welcome:
Just curious what the USP diet plan is - if you could explain please.
I hope you make yourself at home here and find support.
Way to go on the dog  and exercise walking :)
teteia87 05-08-07, 09:46 AM First of all I´d like to tkank everyone here for the wram welcome and for the support :o Yesterday was my first day on the diet and I made it! (i know it´s not much, but like Jo Thrive wrote it here, it´s important to take one day at atime, and i also believe it´s important to celebrate every progress, so I´m happy). Getting through the first day, at least for me, is one of the hardest things to do, because I usually see something I really wanna eat and than I say to myself: I can always start the diet tomorrow. But I got pass that, I managed to avoyd eating the same food as everyone else's (my friends, and my family were eating a lot of junk food), I went out with my dog for a walk too! But I'm actually proud of myself because yesterday my best friend from Rio de Janeiro (for those of you that don´t know, I´m born and raised in rio de Janeiro, but because of my family I had to move to São Paulo wich is a 7 hours drive from my home city) called me, and made me realise (even more) how much I miss my home town, my friends and everything else there, and how much lonely I feel at this new city (even though I've made some really nice friends here, it's not the same), and that type of conversation would easilly make me go to my comfort food, but I survived :) Let´s hope I can survive another day on the diet lol :)
XoXo
Beth the USP diet it´s a very strict diet that I usually follow (when I´m not in relationships), that keeps me healthy and makes me loose a lot of weight, i usually loose 10-14 kilos in 14 days:
first day: desintoxication of junk food
Breakfast: tea or black coffe (with sugar low)
Lunch: Herbal salad and two boiled eggs
Dinner:Herbal salad
Second day
Breakfast: Salt and water cookies and black coffe
Lunch: A big steak (with no fat) and as many fruits as you wish
Dinner: as much ham as you whant
Third day
Breakfast: Salt and water cookies and black coffe
Lunch:herbal salad, 2 boiled eggs and 2 toasts
Dinner:ham and herbal salad
Fourth day:
Breakfast:Salt and water cookies and black coffe
Lunch:1 boiled egg, 1 carrot and as many white cheese I want
Dinner:as many fruits with natural yogurt as I want
Fifth day:
Breakfast:Juice made with carrots and lemmons
Lunch:as much grilled chicken as I want
Dinner:2 boiled eggs with carrots
Sixth day:
Breakfast:Salt and water cookies and black coffe
Lunch:as much fish with tomatoes as I want
Dinner:2 boiled eggs with carrots
Seventh day:
Breakfast:lemmon juice
Lunch:steaks and fruits
Dinner:whatever I want to eat
And than I keep folowing eat untill i feel like it (or untill my doctor says so). My doc put me on this diet because i don´t have much problems with it, i never passed out or starved to death, besides once a week I can have whatever food I want, as long it´s not a dessert or soda. And while i´m doing the diet I have to drink at least 2 liters of water and a lot of tea too.

mcagle95 05-08-07, 04:05 PM Thanks for sharing your diet with us. That is a very interesting diet plan! I can't wait to read your journal entries while you shed away the pounds! Good luck to you and welcome!!
Thanks for the PM and explaining your eating plan :)
way to go on day 1
could you please tell me what a herbal salad is? My daughter is always looking for healthier salads and dressings :D
MelsaEstel 05-09-07, 09:13 AM Hello! Welcome to DT! It's great that you are taking time for yourself instead of jumping into a relationship. A move can be so hard. How long ago did your family relocate?
I am also curious about some of the items in your diet plan. IN addition to the herbal salad, what are salt and water cookies? Are they like saltine crackers?
I am glad that your doctor is monitoring this diet, it doesn't seem to be much. But as long as they are keeping track, then good luck! You will do great this time around!
I look forward to reading more!
teteia87 05-09-07, 10:24 PM Hey guys, sorry for the delay on the journal :o
So, I´'m on the end of the third day of my diet and moving forward :) I wish I could say it´s all going oh so easily, but who would I be kidding?lol For me these first few days are horrible! No, I´m not starving or anything like it, I'm not even hungry, but I miss eating junk food, my house is filled with cookies, cakes, and etc and here I am eating a strict diet lol To make things worse, my dad asked me to bake him a pudim (do you know what that is?) and 2 of my brothers asked me to bake pizza breads (I love to cook, i´ve been tought to love to cook and do house chores since I was a baby, Brazil is mainly a man's country, but things have changed, however my parents come from families that apreciate some standards, and I'm also the only daughter among 6 sons, so i know my way around the kitchen pretty well :) ), aniway, i cooked for them and still folowed my diet (yeah)... Besides, my parents are supporting my diet, so as a treat, my mom bought me a few massages known as drenagem linfática, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find those words in any dictionary, but mainly it's a special massage, combined with pression that drains the excess water on your body and helps your metabolism, today was my first session, and I'll keep on doing the during the week days 'till I loose all the weight I plan to.
Thank you all so much for the support and for reading this :)
Beth: Herbal salad, as my doc would say is everything that is similar to grass lol, but if you want healthy recipies, I can give you plenty from salads to pastas, I was a vegetarian for 2 and a half years (unfortunately I got sick, not from my eating, and I had to quit, but I'm planning on getting my vegetarian life back soon lol) I know a lot of recipies I'd be more than happy to share with you;
MelsaEstel: I really decided to take a break from couple's life right now, I just want to live a little for me, I've been asked out (even today, a really cute boy asked me to go on a concert with him), but I really wanna take a deep breath and enjoy myself for a change, today I bot some body lotions and make up, not for anyone else, but me (I know it seems stupid, but that actually meant a lot for me). My parents moved here about 4 years ago they opened a beauty salon here, I was still living in Rio de Janeiro, but they were having some issues with my younger brother, they needed my help so I came here, after all they were always there for me when I needed them. I've been here for 3 or 4 months now :) And salt and water cookies are the same as saltine crackers, sorry about that, but when I don't remeber the right world I try to translate as best as I can and hope you'll understand it lol :)
Lovelyjeep and Mcgale: Thank´s for the support, I haven't had time to check out my actual weight, I'll go tomorrow, and than I'll start posting here too :)
Ps:My dog is loving the walks, but we are going into the winter here and today was freezing (for brazilian weather at least), but I'll stick to my plan and I'll walk him everiday.
By the way, have any of you ever joined weight watchers? My doc called me and said that after I loose some weight he wants me to join it and in 10 days I'll have to walk my dog for an hour instead of 30 minutes...
That´s all for today folks
Bye bye
Pri
MelsaEstel 05-10-07, 10:00 AM So it's still a fairly new move. At least you are getting to know people! Already been asked out a few times:) Nice! It is a special thing when you can do things for just you! Not a boyfriend, not for the boy you like, not for your friends. JUst you. So I don't think it sounds stupid at all!
I have done weight watchers. I liked it a lot, but I quit once I started working. I just couldn't attend meetings anymore, they were all during my work hours. It's a very good program!
lisad00 05-10-07, 12:07 PM Welcome to diettalk and keep coming.
