Havin' moved their headquarters from Secret Diet Island due to havin' been found out 'n overtaken by a number o' really EVIL Diet Demons (including the Binge 'n Stress Eatin' Demons, the worst of all), the United Forces of Successful Weight Managment Programs did this day finally complete and distribute the UGP Manifesto (post to follow).

UGP PLAN: Reach ULTRA GOAL (a weight of 125) by or on October 28 (if UG is reached before that date, the plan will be declared null and void and a new one for maintenance developed.)

UGP MANIFESTO: (Guiding principle of UGP is that it is flexible and the UGP Committee can meet, confer and vote to change as the weeks to Ultra Goal progress). Target weekly cals in range of 1400-1590 by eating 1400 or below most days but realizing that high days may occur and that the weekly target may not be reached sometimes, which does not constitute a failure of the plan but only a warning that there is more work to be done in apprehending Diet Demons that are out to wreck our resolution. Work out five to six days a week, five to six cardio with focus on running, jogging and walking, but can make substitutions, two days of weights, preferably on Tuesdays and Thursdays at gym but can do on different days and at home or other location than gym, all resistance work qualifies as "weights," and two core workouts. Occasional mixed workouts do not constitute a failure of the long range plan. Log food and workouts on Fitday PC consistently and also use the software for planning purposes. Continue to work to update the software database for more accurate planning.

UGP SUBGOAL: Continue pursuing the goal of becoming a "runner" and the dream of someday running a marathon, no matter how old one is when that happens. It will not happen this year.

UGP CAVEAT: If the unthinkable should happen and UG is NOT reached by October 28, the UGP Failsafe Committee will evaluate progress made by that date and create a UG By November 25 UGP.

UGP TIMELINE: The weeks of June 17-23 and June 24-30 are UGP Test Weeks (in which there is great flexibility in implementation and changing details if needed; it is thought that the weekly calorie target will not be met during this period). The timeline and plan will be updated or amended as needed.

Oh ye wise dieting woman you have got yourself a great and smart dieting manifesto here! Great job on rethinking, reworking and renewing yourself to your goals. I think it is important to every so often stop and look at where we have come from, where we are now and how to best reach that final goal. You are surely going to reach that goal before october. Your already a winnner! I am so happy for you!!!

Wow ESA I read your manifesto and I too became inspired to set sail to a new location. I am so excited about the new successes coming our way. I worked on a new list for my at home journal with specific tips for overcoming those pesky dieting demons and temptations that sometimes come ashore. Have a great weekend!

How is the testing phase going so far? Flexible is good. You need flex in a real-life plan. You are not a machine, or live in a cage like a lab animal.

Keep us posted on the manifesto updates. Coolness. Have a great weekend!

 I am a runnin' machine, though, Fagan!!! But yea flexible is good and I think I've created the perfect plan that CANNOT fail because it's so flexible. It's going fairly well right now, we'll see! Thanks for postin'

It's been a long time since fleein' the Secret Victorian Manse on Secret Diet Island 'n issuin' the UGP Manifesto, but the free diet world should rest assured that MUCH important effort has been put into apprehendin' a number o' very, very BAD Diet Demons :lil: by the Anti Diet Demon Special Cadre o' Brilliant Diet Operatives. This work is being carried out at the Cadre's new secret location (it's SO secret that even the free floatin' diet entity known as "I" doesn't know where it is).

Concurrently, at the same mysterioso spot somewhere in the Dietary Free World, the UGP Research 'n Development Team is busy testin' the scientific principles o' the aforemention UGP Manifesto.

A secret communication (lotta secrets goin' on here) has been picked up between Secret Diet Spy Operatives somewhere in West Dietland and the researchers and operatives at The Secret Location. It confirms that all operatives had a good calorie balanced day and are continuin' in a state of RSC (Rational Self Control, which means they are not at a dietary place where they as yet have to choose between goin' out for refined carbohydrates and jumpin' out of a window).

So things are relatively secure in the Dietary Free World.

A non-UGP-related fun event is taking place at Dietland Castle these days. It's a DRINK MORE H20 FESTIVAL, sponsored by the H20 Liquid Refreshment Company, Ltd. All festival goers are signin' up for consecutive three day challenges havin' to do with H20 :water: ... hmmm, we saw a newsletter from that festival somewhere; ah, yes, here it is. ...

There's really no news, just that some diet folke who reside in West Waterphobia have banded together with the Baron o' Dietland Castle (who is the CEO o' the Liquid Refreshment Company, H20 Division) to hold a never-ending series o' three day drinkin' challenges (H20 only, with sometimes small, healthy additives like a few grains o' Crystal Light Energy or crystalized lemon or real lemon or lime or whatever floateth the contestant's :cruise: ).

Diet Wise Woman, aka Secret Dietary Cadre Operative now workin' in UGP research 'n development), decided to join the fun and has already complete one three-day challenge in which she drank 5 glasses o' :water: a day for three days.

She hath pledged SIX glasses for the next round and this is Day 1 and she's completed these. :1stprize:

Film at 11.

Hi, DWW:

The water thing is a struggle for you, isn't it? But it is so necessary, especially during the summer months and especially where you live. Now if you could arrange to move to Alaska where they have very little summertime and much cooler weather than the VHP, you might find the whole thing easier.

Just keep chugging that water, and keep smiling -

Yea, JoJo, I'm not sure if I've told ye that when I first moved here, I was in the hospital twice because of dehydration. I just seem very resistant to drinking enough water. The challenge helps. I seem to be a'postin' it everywhere today.

Thanks for droppin' in. I am sort of smilin' ... I'll tell ye somethin' really interestin' next week, friend! See ya!

Hi, Athletea:

I don't think I was aware of your past problems with dehydration, and I am so sorry. It can be a problem with all of us, especially when we get so busy that we fail to remember to consume enough liquids.

I have several alternatives to the water, although I do like water itself. But often I drink weak iced tea, and I like it. I also drink quite weak Crystal Light, but I doubt if it fits into your individual eating program. Sports drinks are good. Diluted fruit juices are also good.

Your slushies made with your Magic Bullet are also a great way of getting fluids into your body.

But silly me, I'm telling you all this good stuff that you already know. Have a great weekend.

Good thing ye had a doughnut, Smallfri! The Society for the Prevention of the Influx of Diet Demons :lil: suggests always carryin' a few o' those in your Anti-DD Venom kit, as they will invariably cause the :lil: s to stop chasin' ye 'n turn their attention elsewhere long enough to escape. Thanks fer the visit!

I think we posted at the same time and I didn't see ye there, lass!

All good suggestions re the hydration issue 'n be aware that one o' the biggest motivators for me in the past few years to drink up has been YOU, since so many o' yer posts all o'er the 'net end with an admonition to have a glass o' :water: ! :D

I'm not doin' a WOE that totally precludes Crystal Light or artificially sweetened drinks anymore and in fact was about to have a bit more water with CL Energy ... that's got caffeine in it, though, so it kind of fights hydration (extra water should be drunk in hot conditions when drinking caffeinated beverages.) Like you, I use a very weak solution of this. Too much of the flavored beverages isn't good in high heat.

The crystalized lemon (True Lemon, zero cals, real lemon) is very good also, but JoJo, if you ever get this product, look at the label as it has a tiny bit of dextrose and (I think, I don't have the box here) maltodextrin, all very high GI, but it's such a tiny amount I don't think 'bout that anymore. I'm not doin' Sugar Busters or strict GI, although I watch the GI carefully.

As the summer heats up (what am I saying, it's in triple digits  ) I'll no doubt start eatin' SF popsicles; those help somewhat. The house is hot, with two AC rooms for the pets and for my office (where I actually do a lot of my job so I can't afford to get too hot).

Anyhow, I will have that nice CL in a sec. See you, JoJo.

P.S. I don't mean to sound as though I'm complainin' 'bout the heat. I came to this state more than a decade ago for the heat and I like it! :cheer:

Hello Fair Dieting Queen! Wow bless your heart about the dehydration. I have been there before too. I love water though. You know since ye Queen is workin'out so hard this could be the key to reachin' ye goal weight. Not drinking enough water will cause some people to retain and their body sort of hold on the food to supplement the lack of water. I hope ye Queen reaches maxium required units of water with lemon or not soon so ye may make it to shore before ye october goal date.

You go girl!!! :cheer::water::cheer::water::cheer:

Thanks, Sunny! You are so nice, I hate to tell thee that I have to leave DT for awhile to evaluate some things in my life, though will no doubt dip back and forth now 'n then.

So I'm closing the journal and will start a new one when I get back.

Wow another run down. Good for you. The hunk on the ship gave me the spare doughnuts to throw at those demons. They are a sucker for them. Think it makes them float in the water, until they get hungry and eat them, and well. Demons dont like the water for swimmin so they cant get very far without them. lol.
