View Full Version : I think I am really losing my sanity....
therunt57 06-23-07, 12:41 PM So made it back to the States after a whole hell of a lot of traveling. Have been slacking in getting back in to my regular journaling and just basic net stuff. (My first and so far only niece was born on Monday, the emailing to get caught up on is scary on its own) As well as needing some time to adjust to being back in the states. It was harder coming back than I expected.
In September, I am going back to England so attend school and get my master's degree. That involves a whole other bit of stress trying to get that sorted out. Currently I am waiting for my visa to come back from the British Consulate. Right now, I am just visiting with people I haven't seen in four years. I am living with friends for the summer and the eating as been a bit difficult. I try to limit portions and be careful of the snacks. But I have put a little weight back on. I can tell by the way my clothes fit, a little tighter than when I got back.
More importantly, I am losing my focus. My focus to exercise and do yoga and my focus to keep track of what I am eating. I need to start writing everyday to keep track of what is going on. Walking isn't too bad because I take a walk in the evening. I have been seriously slacking with my yoga as well. So must write here everyday so I know what I have, or haven't has been the case lately, been up to.

Remember taking time to take care of yourself with make the er activities in your life easier.
smallfri 06-24-07, 10:39 AM First, slow down and breathe. Second. Wow, you should be proud of other things you have accomplished. Third. Writing in your journal should help, it helps many. That extra support sometimes is alot. Keep going, take your time, and it will happen.
HEY!!! SO GOOD to hear from you again. I hear you in losing your focus. That pretty much sums up my life since Sept. I cannot believe how my thought direction changed and I have really paid for it. This summer I am doing better.
So how long will you be in England? Are you done teaching in Taiwan for now? I was finished with school before Labor Day. so I have had almost a month off. It is going so fast. I have to attend a conference this week. I am not too excited about going. I guess because I was pressured to go rather than wanting to go. Plus I am dealing with health issues regarding my dad. No answers yet as to what is causing his problems and the waiting is very hard. I am busy keeping up the lawn and garden.
Glad you are back on site and hope your summer goes well.
therunt57 06-24-07, 08:37 PM The past two days, my eating hasn't been good. I haven't tracked any calories, but I don't need to. There were S'mores last night along with fried squash at dinner. The past two days have included tuna salad sandwiches and potato salad. Tonight's dinner included fried squash and fried plantains plus grilled shrimp. I did go for a walk yesterday and I am going for a walk in about 10 minutes. I haven't done a bit of yoga this weekend either. Goals for tomorrow-yoga in the morning, track calories and stay under 1800 for the day.
lisad00 06-25-07, 10:25 AM Even recording your calories and food intake on a consistent bases will help in the begining even if you don't make the 1800 calorie goal.
therunt57 06-25-07, 08:16 PM Today hasn't been to bad of a day. I did yoga this morning and it felt really good. I tracked all the food I ate today and have stayed under 1800 calories. Will probably have an ice fruit pop tonight, but that is 30 calories. I am not taking a walk today because my sister is going to call. She needs to talk and is always more important then a walk.
judith6 06-26-07, 10:40 AM welcome back! we just got back from Va. to see my oldest get his B.A. in business. He is in the Navy, went to school full time in the evenings, he is an older student, we paid for like 8 yrs of college, he had a good time playing then, now he is serious( life got tough in between years) on graduation day, he was very emotional, said it took him 17 yrs to accomplish this, he starts his Masters program in Aug.
Best of luck to you!
therunt57 06-27-07, 01:23 PM Meant to do yoga this morning, I really did. But little man (I am staying with friends right now and they have a 11 month old son) is sick and wasn't sleeping last night. I work up and realized I had put my short on backwards and wrong side out. And I had a big dirt streak going down my arm that I am pretty sure wasn't there when I went to bed. So I went back to bed for my own sanity. Ate 2300 calories yesterday and need to get that under control. But did have a nice walk yesterday.
therunt57 07-03-07, 12:53 PM Blah, blah, blah........that pretty well sums up how I feel right now. I joined the Boot Camp Challenge in an attempt to get better with my eating and exercising. It is getting easier. I am posting at Fitday everyday now. Doing more yoga during the week and still walking. But some days, I need something to do to stimulate a few brain cells. Only 61 days left until I leave for England.
Runt - I feel those blah. blah days, too! Great job on getting back with fitday. Yoga is great, too. Hope you get more rest - those fitful nights are tough! Plans for the 4th?
Hang in there! You are doing great!!
therunt57 07-09-07, 11:29 AM Trying to make this a little easier, so going to set some weekly goals for myself. I should have done this Sunday and will try to do that from now on.
1. Walk at least 5 days this week. I was helping move furniture around and dropped a solid cherry side board for a bed on my bare foot. Extremely stupid not wearing shoes. So taking it easy on my foot.
2. I will do a full yoga sequence on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings.
3. I will drink at least 96 oz of water everyday.
4. I will post at fitday.com everyday. And I will try to stay under 1800 daily as well.
This weekend was good all in all. Helped move furniture around. I have started counting down the weeks I have left. Getting nervous about moving and being a student again. But it always happens this way.
Hey, great goals. I know I do better when I do that or even have daily goals. I just cannot get going on the computer much these days. Fitday sure does open my eyes to what I am eating. I get about 80 oz. of water in most days. That is about all I can do.
writing down goals always helps me. I hope it helps you. Chin up and overcome.
therunt57 07-15-07, 04:49 PM Last week's recap of goals.
1. Walk at least 5 days this week. ~I walked 5 days last week. Yeah.
2. I will do a full yoga sequence on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. ~I only did yoga three days last week. There was a death in my friend's family. So been busy helping with that.
3. I will drink at least 96 oz of water everyday. ~Did it, Yeah!
4. I will post at fitday.com everyday. And I will try to stay under 1800 daily as well. ~I posted everyday but haven't stayed under 1800 a single day. Frustrating.
And this week's goals for me.
1. Walk 5 days this week. Foot is still a little tender and still has a bump on it. Trying to be nice to it.
2. Do a full yoga sequence on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
3. Drink at least 96 oz of water everyday.
4. Post on Fitday every day AND stay under 2000 calories everyday.
I am living with friends and the husband, his nephew died this week. So I have been helping to take care of babies and household chores this week. So that messed by yoga schedule up a little. Life gets in the way at times. But I am not too upset about it. I meet three of my four goals and that is good. The dryer is yelling at me to change laundry over. And the pizza dough is not going to finish itself for dinner tonight.
Wow! You did great with last weeks goals.
You're right, life does get in the way, so all you can do is try your best.
lisad00 07-16-07, 01:05 PM 4. I will post at fitday.com everyday. And I will try to stay under 1800 daily as well. ~I posted everyday but haven't stayed under 1800 a single day. Frustrating.
Posting honestly about the calorie intake will help you not blame the diet when the scale doesn't move.
therunt57 07-18-07, 10:14 AM I am having difficulty being motivated still. The yoga and being within calorie range is really hard for some reason. And with the move and school around the corner, I am starting to go through my usual stress symptoms. Right now it is a messed up sleep routine. I will be over that soon. I think I am going to have to go with some type of extrinsic reward system. I know that I am shoe and clothes whore. Some of my favorite stores are in England as well. If I am going to work as a substitute teacher, as is my hope, I will need some professional clothes as well. So I will earn ₤1.00 everyday I do yoga and 0.50p for everyday that I stay within my calories. And the end of the week, that adds up to ₤7.50 a week for a new wardrobe. At the end of seven weeks, I will have the potential for a grand total of ₤52.50 for new clothes. I am making this plan retroactive to include this week.
therunt57 07-22-07, 01:08 PM So, how did I do this week?
1. Walk 5 days this week. ~Did it with no problem
2. Do a full yoga sequence on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. ~Only got yoga in three days this week. My own fault for not getting out of bed early enough.
3. Drink at least 96 oz of water everyday. ~No problems at all.
4. Post on Fitday every day AND stay under 2000 calories everyday. ~Posting was no problem. But only stayed under 5 days this week. That is better than not having any day during the week.
Grand total earned towards new clothes- ₤5.50
So goals for next week:
1. Walk 6 days this week. Foot is better and I really do enjoy my time walking at night.
2. Do a full yoga sequence on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
3. Drink at least 96 oz of water everyday.
4. Post on Fitday every day AND stay under 2000 calories everyday.
This week things should slow down a little and make life a little easier. Plus on Saturday, I get to visit with a friend that I haven't seen in probably 5 years. I will get to meet her husband and daughter as well.
Super goals! Good for you. Glad to read you are getting the yoga in. HAve a great week.
