First off, I would like to apologize to some of you who felt like I just totally fell off the face of the Earth. I've gone through my little "on/off DT" spurts over the last 4-5 years, and I'm sorry. Secondly, I'd like to thank those who kept checking in on me -- for Melissa, for actually IMing me and being like "WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU GIRL?".

Simply put - I got caught up in LIFE. Schoolwork, work-work, boys, family, more boys, friends, new friends, vacations, papers, going out, partying, more schoolwork, sewing, new designs, new attitudes, new outlooks....

However, somewhere in the middle of that "STUFF" - I've dug down and realized that not only did I significantly MISS DT, but I NEED DT to make me understand that my health is important to ME, MYSELF, and I.

Quick recap:
- I made "President's List" for last semester at school. My parents were THRILLED.

- Danny (BF) and I are on a -break-, but we still talk everyday, we need time to "work on ourselves".

- I am going to be competing in a Triathlon on November 11th, 2007, and have recently started training. The statistics of this particular race is as follows: 22-mile bike ride, 6.5-mile run, .6-mile swim. >> http://www.multirace.com/MiamiMan/

Hi! Nice to see you back at DT. We missed you :)

Triathalon! Great stuff. I am training for my first 5k...learning how to run basically. Then I'll move on to the 1/2 marathon, marathon, etc. A triathalon sounds like the utlimate experience. I would LOVE to do that. I am sure it will be a goal of mine somewhere in my future. Good luck and keep me posted! Your training schedule sounds killer.

I just figured that you were busy this summer. You know, with multiple jobs, boyfreinds, summer fun, etc. If I was better at math and science, I would build some sort of device for people like you and Jessica that would warp space-time in such a way to allow you a few extra hours in each day, without having to worry about pesky little things like sleep, rest, or chill-out time.

But...we have what we have. Nice to see you back. Take care.

First, (that seems to the theme for me today), Welcome back.

Second, you go girl. That is great with all you got going on and then a triathalon on top of it. That is wonderful.

It was a sorta long day at work - to say the least; and after waking up with a fever, I decided it would be best to skip Spinning - so I stayed in tonight, focused on homework (papers) and rested. Ah... FELT SO GREAT.

Back to training tomorrow- of course. :)

Thank you Kussanna, Sunymiss, Fagan and SmallFri for visiting me.

Fagan -- Well, you were right "Uncle" ; it's not that I couldn't handle 2 jobs, I just didn't like the cocktail waitressing at a super highclass restaurant, I felt so inferior to people who MADE me feel that way.. and it sucked. So I put in my 2 weeks like after 3 weeks of working there - left on good terms though - just told them it wasn't what I was looking for and I wasn't going to suffer. Thank you for always being so honest - even when no one (speaking for myself, of course) really wants to hear the honesty.

Welcome back! I am super excited to see you here! We definitly did miss you (and your lists:) I love them! haha!)

Wow! A triathalon! That's awesome! Good luck with your training!

See you around. And remember, if you wander off again...I know where to find you!

Melissa: HAHA! You are so right! I can't believe I wandered off after doing so well for so long - it's dissapointing to say the least, but I'm BACK! Aww - you missed my lists, and my songs too right?!! Hehehehe!

With that being said...

"That's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it! Uh-huh, Uh-huh!"

>> Pretty busy day at work today; I work for my dad about 25-30 hours per week while my sister is home from college, because she takes the other 10-15 hours. It sorta stinks because I'm used to my paychecks being 40 hours + extra, so I'm helping out my dad with his other business as well to make up for it.

>> NEW ADDITION to my life: MY VERY OWN SEWING OFFICE. Yes, I have my own place to sew and design and just "GET AWAY" =)

I've been feeling a little under the weather - woke up on Saturday morning at my GF's house and had 3 cats all around me, mind you - I'm allergic.. blah. So my head has been stirring since then + now I've been running a fever. I always feel better after working out- but is it OK to work out if you're feeling crappy??

Hey Rebekah, good to see you again!!! Wow, the Presidents List!!! Congratulations!!!

And now a triathlon, holy smokes, you are just a working hard there, woman!!!

Oh my goodness, cat allergy and you wake up to cats all around your head, it would have been like a nightmare. Hope you are better from that soon. Personally, I don't think it would be good to workout when you have a fever, but if it is just a cold or something you would probably be alright. Just listen to your body.

Got in a bad car accident this morning. :c(

And it was sooo good to see some more visitors: Nancy, Kristen, Bell, and AngelEyes... THANK YOU.

My car is totalled; and I have no significant injuries besides:

- Tender thoracic vertebrae
- Moderately sprained neck
- First degree burns on chest/neck (from airbag & seat belt)
- Had XRAYS on my knee because it is SOOOOO swollen and I can barely walk - so I'm awaiting the results on that... I'm hoping and praying it's just a bruise so that I can get back into my training.

Thank god for good family and friends

I will post pictures of my car tomorrow.

And I will get to replies and be journaling ALL DAY tomorrow -- I'm going to be pretty darn sore for a few days... oh, but how I NEED the rest anyways!

Damn! The accident looks horrible. I'm glad that you are walking and talking after that. How did the results from the knee-scan turn out? Are you okay? You had better plan on doing NOTHING over the weekend but being sore and sort of "out of it". Accidents like that take it out of you all over. I'm so glad that you were not hurt significantly. Whew.

As usual, you are a real cutie in the other photos. I hope that you have a better weekend. Take care.

I was feeling pretty sore for a couple of days, and had more xrays and things done. But for now, I'm feeling a LOT better, bruises/cuts are starting to heal and I can move on from the accident! :o

I went to the gym for the first time in 2 weeks or so - and it felt GREAT! Slow and steady... but made me feel 1,000 times better about myself.

I fell into a SLUMP the past couple of days from no exercise and just bummed out that I have no car at the moment. But Danny came into town because his parents had a timeshare on St. Pete Beach, and he made everything better. Gosh- I miss him. We decided that we're really going to work on OURSELVES for the summer, with hopes that things will work out for US. On Thursday night, my parents and his parents went out to dinner, first time of the parents meeting (and we've been together for 2+ years)... everyone got along GREAT! And Danny leaned over during dinner and whispered "This is perfect" - made me melt, just like a little kid- with butterflies. All of my worries went right out the door.

Great photos YOU look great. So happy for your success. I was 136 when we renewed our wedding vows. Now of course I am not. You give me great inspiration to keep it up. I was 118 when I was your age! X-( Just a note my hair is the same length as yours too! me a blonde though. I can't wait to get back down to 136 so I can quickly get to 118. We are going to the beach for Christmas and I would love to be in a much smaller size so I can wear beach clothes. Wouldn't be caught dead in shorts now!

I believe I will get there again and stay there. You are doing so great. Keep up the hard work. You will be at goal weight very very soon!

Glad you were not severely hurt in the accident. My hubby had a real bad one 2 years ago his seat broke when he hit and it put his head through the windshield. Hope you are feeling ok.

P.S. you guys look great together and so happy!

Suny: Thanks so much for the encouragement! Yes, 136lbs was a great feeling; I'm around 140lbs right now - with hopes of loosing 8-10lbs (or just toning up) -- I don't know if I could ever be 118lbs you skinny bone thing you! You WILL get there - with determination & time. I think "time" is the hardest concept to understand - but it's essential. 3 years ago, I was pushing 180lbs and I must admit, I've slacked along the way, but I don't think I will ever get back to that weight, I lost it slow and steadily.

_______

Please keep my cousin from Brasil, Juliano, in your prayers. In Miami, 2 boys were found in the trunk of a car killed from gunshot wounds, and my family down there just identified his body. It was him and his best friend, their house was broken into, and a bunch of their belongings were missing. My dad just got a call from his "Nani" and found out - so we're sorta missing a bunch of information. It's just a horrible thing to hear, no matter if you knew him or not. He was only 26 or 27 years old.

_______

Other than the bad news of this morning, I enjoyed my day off from the gym last night, I must admit -- but I'm VERY excited to get back into the groove today. MY legs, abs, entire body is sore from working out on Sun, Mon, & Tue! Last night, I enjoyed a glass of wine while I watched FIT-TV. I really like that channel - they were giving tips on stretching and work-outs, and how to dress right for your body shape and what not. Soon after, I passed out in my bed and had amazing sleeps. Working out consistently helps EVERYTHING in my everyday life. (Complexion, health, sleeping pattern, energy, attitude, etc.. etc..)

I am going to Tallahassee (my old college town) on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week for my girlfriend's birthday party. The theme is: "Under the Sea" -- so I'm going to try and pull off a MERMAID costume - any ideas?

Life never ceases to amaze me.

Went to Miami for the funeral last weekend (Thank you Bell & Sunymis for the thoughts and prayers)

On Tuesday, I went to Tallahassee (my old college town) for my girlfriends 23rd birthday (where we all dressed as "Under The Sea"). I had a BLAST! (Pictures to come, of course) - it was so good to catch up with my old girlfriends, we promised each other to keep in touch - Cathi lives in West Palm, Tanya & Whitney in Tallahassee, myself in St. Petersburg, and Janelle in Miami. (for all you Floridians who actually knows what all of that means).

Just got back in town like 30 minutes ago, Danny came along - and it was SO good to spend time with him too. :x

However, it's back to -life- for me. I have so much "JUNK" to sort through.

Kussanna: Thank you sweets! It's definitely been a whirlwind of a ride, but hey, that's life. I definitely need to go catch up on your journal - I have been such a bad "DT friend" - perhaps my life will slow down for a second so that I'm not stuck on posting 1 thing quickly and then rushing along.

Fagan: Thank you very much for your thoughts with my cousin. It was (and still is) shocking as hell. I'm looking into a few cars, well, SUVs really: Nissan Murano and the Nissan XTera - I drive quite a bit (to see the BF and to Tallahassee to visit) and I definitely need a bike rack and something to pull a canoe or boat with just in case... so an SUV seems like the likely idea. However, I'm just trying to get my finances in order so that I can start making car payments - my parents are going to co-sign, but I really want to take the iniative and get a car in MY name - I will be graduating soon enough, and then it's off to Grad. school somewhere.
-- As for the bike -- it is here in my apartment and ready to be ridden! Aren't ya proud? :)

Even though going to visit Tallahassee made me realize how much I loved going AWAY to college, I do know that deep down, I do BETTER when I'm near my family. Call me a homebody - but it's true. I am more level-headed and grounded this way.

Now it's off to lurking at everyone's journals ;)

I have begun to let myself go. Everything that I have worked for - as far as a healthy lifestyle went right out the window. Why? There aren't very many things that are more important than our own HEALTH. But so often, we just get suckered into the hum-drum life circle and start to make excuses. But in the end, it only hurts us more.

So that's that.

Feeling under the weather this morning - grabbed a green tea first thing and it made my throat a 1,000 times better - but I'm still congested. It's just that miserable blah feeling.

As you all know, I had my car accident - but it doesn't stop there, my youngest sister, Lauren who's 17 - got in a car accident last Thursday, a drunk guy pulled out of a bar on her way home from Target. She had no injuries at all - but the car is messed up pretty badly. Then, on Saturday afternoon, the middle girl, Allison who is almost 21, got into a fender bender in Tallahassee.

3 accidents - 3 sisters - within 2-3 weeks time. Wowwie.

We're all OK - 2 cars are damaged (1 totalled, that's mine) - so we're sucking up to each other in hopes of getting rides here and there. But I have my handy dandy bike! :)

I'm looking forward to getting back into the gym today! Come on body, let's get better! :D

Man, you are having it rough lately. My heart goes out to you. Things will get better. You will get a new car. You will eventually run out of sisters of driving age that CAN get into a car accident during the same week. :D I mean, it is difficult to drive and get into another accident if your car is in the shop, and there can't be THAT many more of you...

I'm sorry that you are feeling poorly. I also KNOW that you will pop out of this funk and start living the way that you want to live soon. You have had a lot of big things happen lately (employment, boyfreind madness, car accidents, etc.), and...stuff happens in real life. You noticed it, and are doing something about it. Good for you.

I'm glad that you have a family to lean on, and feel so comfortable at home. That is a real gift. It is good that you realize that you have that gift, and are not afraid to utilize it. Family can enrich each other's lives so much. That is great.

I hope that you feel better. Keep riding your bicycle. After you feel better, ride HARD. I love to ride hard. Take care.

Fagan: Hahaha- there's only 3 of us girls, and then our half-brother who is 34, who is actually scared to drive now because of this strain of bad luck. I don't really call it bad luck though- more of just crazy times. You are right about the family thing - they are there for me, and I love that - even though sometimes I could really do without their help. I'm hitting the bike today, it's been raining horribly outside for the past 3 days and will continue, so I'm sticking to the stationary bike, but nonetheless, you'd be proud! Once the Florida weather that we know and love comes back, I'll be out on the roadways - not many hills out here, in fact, like maybe 1 in my entire city, my house is actually below sea level - eeek! But - I'll plan my route around bridges to give me interval training! Thanks again for all the encouragement.

:o Fun times with the BF on Tuesday & Wednesday!

[EATS]:
B - Scrambled eggs, LF waffles(2), Activia yogurt
L - Small side salad with LF italian dressing
D - Lean cusine; chicken & veggies

[EXERCISE]:
; Bike, 30 minutes
; Walking/jogging, 15 minutes
; Lunges/Squats
; Stretching

I had a good time with Danny - he came into town on Tuesday, and we pretty much relaxed for the day before going over to my parents house to watch Harry Potter 2! And then we STARTED on Harry Potter 3, but I just was not feeling up to watching another 2½-3 hour movie. I just saw my very first HP on Sunday - and I must admit, they are pretty darn good. However, I bet the books would be 1,000 times better because I'm a big reader... so that may be my next "goal".

Wednesday - Danny & I went to the gym, we did 30 minutes ARC trainer, and then an INTENSE session on ABS & OBLIQUES! He was in Navy ROTC his first year of college & he showed me these crazy workouts they had to do every morning at 6am! Last night, even though I was feeling quite poopy to say the least, we met up with friends at the "Cider House" for a beer. It's such an interesting place - all of these imported beers, and I'm not even a big beer drinker - but there's like 60-something and you get a list and cross out a beer everytime you try it (buy it) & once you get through them all - you get your very own engraved mug. I'm at a whopping 2 beers!

Danny left this morning - and again, I'm feeling VERY blah - but it's all "head congestion" - so it's not really the flu. Plus, working out yesterday made me feel GREAT (but I probably shouldn't have gone out! Oops?) I'm falling behind "finance" wise and it's stressing me out. I was used to working 40hrs a week making $11/hr for my dad, but when my sister came home, she wanted to work here too - so we split the hours. That's a HUGE cut in pay - especially when my lifestyle was accustomed to the contrary. But she's leaving for college in 1-2 weeks, so I'll have my system back just in time to make car payments. Whew.

Sunymiss: Pilates is GREAT but lattes are my weakness! Thanks for the continued encouragement!

Kristen: Hey girlfriend! Wahoo! I hope you are doing well yourself :)

I'm glad that you and Danny had so much fun. Fun is always good. It sounds like you two are a little bit more...solid than you were a few weeks ago. Sometimes crisis shows us things about people that you don't expect. He really stepped up to the plate, and really cares about how you are. It sounds like you really care about how he is doing too.

We're expecting youuuuuuuuuuu....

Well...you do lyrics on here. It is catching.

You may not have hills there, but some of the hardest bicycling that I have ever done was on soft sand when we lived in Jacksonville, Florida when I was a kid. Soft sand will kick your butt! It is like going uphill, only it is twice as hard to balance the bike. I know a few riders that swear by training on soft sand. It really burns the calories, and firms up the legs.

Have a great weekend, and take care.

My workout last night was pretty good- I ended up switching up my routine a bit - the aerobic room was filled with a group of friends doing kickboxing and stuff so instead of squats & lunges, I improvised. I ended up doing the stairstepper for 10 minutes and then did other sorts of resistance machines for quads & hamstrings. My legs are feeling it this morning - so I must have done something right!

I'm really trying to get an overall tone on my body; I've found myself sort of just at a standstill weight wise and I'm not happy with it, but if I could tone up, then weight to me is just a number.

Eating better and controlling what I eat has made me feel quite a bit healthier overall - and it's only really been 4 days now. Imagine the feeling after a 2 week detox of all the crappy things I've been putting in my body: (alcohol, fatty foods, soda). My complexion is even beginning to look better already. Wahoo.

Fagan: You're so right about the time of crisis really opening up your eyes, at first, I thought by just breaking up with Danny, that things would be better, but then I realized that I really missed him & his friendship. Either way, I think it was a GREAT idea on my part to sort of break apart for the summer to make sure we really wanted to be with one another and not just stick together because of being "comfortable". I must say though, everytime we're together, it's a new experience & I learn NEW things about him. I'm happy to be working on US because he keeps me levelheaded.

I LOVE LYRICS! Have you seen the new shows on TV -"Don't Forget The Lyrics" and "Singing Bee" -- I could so be on those!

I really liked your idea on the sand riding. I am going to ask a couple of my riding buddies who are avid riders to see if they do anything like that & if so, if I could join. I won't last too long, but it'll be a kick-butt workout. Thanks!

Hi Bek,
i am a bit slow..i didnt know that you and Danny were back together...i am dense sometimes. i think thats great that after a break you both realised that you want to be together not just because its comfortable!
i think you the right thinking about toning up and not focusing on the number so much. if you are exercising and watching your food the results will come anyway. all the pics i have seen of you have you looking gorgeous already anyway!

So your a big reader? So am I - BIG time ! I go to bed at least 1 hr early every night, so I can have my reading time. I don't read ( books ) during the day, but read a ton of stuff online and lots of articles. What type of books do you enjoy?

About you and Danny - when Tim and I are having a extra rough time, the one thing I always keep in mind is that we are friends, and that really helps me to work through all the other stuff - friends are so important in life :)

[EATS]:

- Were GREAT! I stayed within my limits and controlled everything (except for a little too many pretzels, oops)

[EXERCISE]:

Friday: ARC trainer/ jogging/ crunches
Saturday: Pilates
Sunday: BEACH DAY -- lifting, swimming, walking

My weekend was an exciting one! I stayed in on Friday night to get some extra rest. I laid out for a whole 40 minutes on Saturday (which BTW, I began a long post - and then the power in my house went out and I lost it ALL!!) - but anyways, it started pouring outside, so I came in and turned on the TV to FIT TV; there was Pilates on, so I ended up doing Pilates for 1 hour and it totally kicked my ass! (I LOVED IT!)

Saturday night- I went to a concert with my girlfriends, they drank beers, I drank high quality h2o. Yum.

This morning at 7am, my girlfriend, Amanda & I woke up and began preparing everything for her boyfriend's surprise birthday celebration at the beach. We did SO much setting up from 8am until noon and then people showed up and Derek (her bf) came at 1pm thinking he was picking up a boat part and was TOTALLY surprised! We HAD A BLAST! Got sun... and for once in my entire life, I did not care about what others thought about me in a bikini - I really had no one to impress and I was there to have a good time and not sulk in the corner.

SunyMiss: Self control is an amazing feeling! I can't wait to read your new journal - hope your vay-cay was GREAT!!

Bell: Yeah, you know how romance is in highschool and college - it's off and on, off and on! But you're right - time away does make you realize what you've been missing. It's a humbling experience. Thanks girl!

Beth: Eeek - a reading buddy perhaps?! I love all different types of books really! And thank you so much for the insight on relationships - that is a great way to look at things.

L - Tuna wrap from Subway
D - Fish fillets, veggies

[EXERCISE]:
; Pilates, 30 minutes
; Squats/Lunges
; Abdominals/Obliques
; Dancing all night (3-4 hours)

Mondays are always pretty much a downer - it's the start of a new week and what not - but I'm feeling pretty good about it. My sister's last week of working here at my dad's office is this week - so starting next week, I'm pretty much full time - so that means more $$ and well, more work. Actually, Tuesdays at the office are the most hectic, I guess engineers don't really wake up until then, they just relax on Mondays.

Tonight- the plan is going out to this place called Bricktown and dancing. It's Derek's REAL birthday night - and the best place to go is this club which is a good 30 minutes from me, but totally worth the drive. Ladies get in free - and the drinks are super cheap (however, I'm continuing on my road of staying away from the alcoholic beverages- so far, so good).

The girls want to get dressed up to go - so, I'm thinking of what to wear as I sit here and type this post (hahaha).

Now I'm off to post in other's journals~ xo

You don't see that many bikinis around here. I could not imagine having to live up to the pressure, either. I'm glad that you are comfortable in your skin. It is good to see.

I hope that you had a good time at the dance place. I'm kind of torn on the "no drinking" thing. I'm mostly a non-alcohol person myself, but that is primarily because I have so many big-time alcoholics in my family (like divorce and lose the house alcohilics). Even I have 1-2 drinks in situations like you are describing. Moderation is the key for me, anyway.

I hope that you have a great week!

Danny came into town on Tuesday because he had to drive all the way to Tallahassee (6-7 hours from his hometown) to pick up a bed that he left in his old house - there was a guy who was supposed to buy it, but the guy backed out last minute and everything had to be out of the house by August 1st - so Danny had to drive up there on a limb and he figured on his way back town to stop by St. Pete.

Tuesday night he arrived in town and we went out to this lush nightclub to go dancing - because on Monday night, the plans for dancing fell through but I had the "dancing fever". So I called ahead to this club to see what type of options I could recieve as far as getting in and such and the owner picked up and offered me V.I.P passes and 2 free drinks, etc...

We arrived at 10:30pm, cut the line, and got in with no problem at all - we then, walked around and checked out the scenary - I had 2 drinks, Grey Goose Vodka & Tonic with limes and Danny had his usual - Jack & Coke. Moderation was key. We ended up dancing for 2 hours and sitting down chatting in the plush couches and watching the drunk people make fools of themselves but we loved it!

Wednesday morning we slept in a little bit and then headed for the mall- Danny bought me some socks and workout shorts from BeBe Sport; I LOVE THAT STORE. And he got himself some things from Oakley and Nordstrom. Then, while I was walking I felt the sudden urge to get my hair cut, so we went into the nice salon at the plaza to see if they had any availibilites and they did! So I got my hair trimmed - and side swept bangs for something new and Danny got his hair cut too. After the mall- we went to dinner at Chili's (50% off because Danny is a bartender at one in his hometown) & then saw "No Reservations" - it was an OK movie.

He left this morning - goodbyes always stink - but we were happy to see each other and spend some time catching up and joking around. The weather here has been HORRIBLE. Downpouring all the time, and flooded streets - thank God for Danny's truck.

Sunymiss: Shorts are my biggest fears! I hate them! No matter what! I often times wish I could cut from my waist down and get a new pair of legs - but I just have to deal with the ones I have!

Melissa: YES! The Activia yogurt is great- it tastes well and really does help with the whole digestive thing. My insides feel cleaner and healthier- and all my friends/family love it too.

Kristen: Hey girlfriend! Being exposed does suck sometimes but I was honestly to the point of just not caring - I had been working out for a while and trying to eat OK and I had no one to impress! I just wanted to lay out and get some sun!

Fagan: Yeah, the "no drinking" thing wasn't meant to go from drinking socially to absolutely forbidding it - it was just more of a self control thing. It feels good to drink h2o rather than a beer sometimes, and I'm just making myself aware of that. The people that I hang out with HAVE to have an alcoholic beverage to have fun - I'm not like that. I did have Vodka tonics at the nightclub on Tuesday and they were tasty! Everything is about moderation - thank you for keeping me in check!

Glad you had fun with the BF! Always good times!

I am like you with the drinks. I'll have one here and there, but I don't need them to have a good time. For a long time in college, I would always be the sober person. I didn't want to drink, and I wanted to be available to drive if I was needed. Someone has to! But I had the greatest time watching people and being able to tell them stories the next day! People do some really dumb things when they are drunk (like me leaving a hot dog on the neighbor's porch cause I thought they might want one in the morning :D)

Do you have big plans for the weekend?
Mmmmmm pork tenderloin. You made me want to make some, but I only have a big honkin one, and with just me eating, it's not worth it tonight! So you enjoy it for me:)

Sorry for my short *MIA* -- I ended up taking a train from St. Pete to WPB (West Palm) to visit Danny on Tuesday last week because I needed to get away from the family, they were driving me up a WALL - to say the least. It's been bad lately, I feel like everyone in my family WANTS me to be stressed out. They all expect so much from me, and I can't possibly give-give-give 24-7. Plus, since I'm STILL without a car, I have to be somewhat fake-nice to them in order to get rides for things I NEED.

So - Amtrak had rides across Florida for $25/one way - I had to go for it. In WPB, it was SO RELAXING. I stayed until Friday, and then came home. On my train ride home- I got calls from all my friends who were wondering where the hell I went because I turned my phone off for majority of the time.

Friday night - I watched the Bucs BEAT the Patriots! YAY! On Saturday morning at 7am, I was up doing my little sister a favor after a HUGE guilt trip by my mom (grrr) - and then went tubing 2 hours north of my hometown with 10 other friends. It was a blast! You pretty much just sit on a raft or tube and float slowly down a river.

While I was gone, my sister Allison stayed with my Grandma and totally destroyed my room - so I spent most of yesterday ATTEMPTING to clean that up.

Needless to say - my mind is everywhere but where it should be. So I'm trying to settle my nerves and angers down and focus on ME.

Classes start in 1 week; I'm picking up dancing classes starting tonight with my gf Kristen (who teaches it); my sister leaves to go back to Tallahassee next week (THANK GOD) - So I will be back to working full-time [which means car payments will be possible]; and my sewing instructor will be coming back into town within a week or two. So I'm a busy girl.

DT keeps me sane - keeps my head where it should be.

Thank you Melissa, Sunymiss, & Nancy for stopping by to say "Hi" :)

Still no car, huh? That blows. I'm glad that you got away for the weekend. Being forced to be around family can drive any sane adult nuts. Why? Because we are all nuts, and you know about and have to deal with exactly HOW NUTS your family is when you are around them that often.

Crazy behavior, capitulation/apology, repeat...repeat....repeat. It is maddening.

I thought of you today while riding super-fast down a mountain road on my bicycle. I had this song in my head, and it reminded me of your lyric posts. Good to see you back from the weekend retreat.

How far do you run now? Don't kill anybody in your family this week. Take care.

I've been reading your posts on and off ever since I've been a member at Diettalk ... you're one of our members who already seem to have a good weight and a nice figure. But I know it's smart to work at keeping it that way. Nice to see you back and hard at work again.

I was wondering if you wrote the saying in your signature line ... I think it's wonderful. I found it inspiring and will keep it on my desk where I can see it every day. I want a "new ending."

Perhaps we cannot truely start over and change the beginning,
however, we can always change now and create a new ending.

I want to go back and catch up on your journal and see what you've been up to ... I read briefly that you too have been away from Diettalk for a bit. I took some time out but I'd like to do some serious work now and make progress that I can be proud of ... progress that will last. It's been too long since I've liked my figure.

Good luck ... I'll be watching you and cheering for you. :o

Been a sorta crazy couple of days to say the least. Family is still bothering me - grrr... but I'm trying to not let them bother me. Clear my head of drama and stresses. Vacation anyone?

Kussanna: Hey GF! Thanks for the support. Running away always seems like the best option but I know that I need to start facing my problems head-on. But I'm not gonna lie - it was a great mini-vaycay.

Fagan: Nope, I'm carless - but at least I'm saving gas money  I usually try to run a 2-3 mile distance 3 or 4 times a week. Since my knee injury in the accident - and a month off from running, I'm slowly working my way back up - and my knee is feeling GREAT. I've been using the bike too - never gonna catch up with you and your distances on that, but I do love it! & Please tell me you weren't mumbling "You are so beautiful" while cruising... HAHAHA!

We all make mistakes, but it's never too late to change life around. I'm so glad that you follow that quote as closely as I do. And yes, keep cheering me on and watching - do you have a journal yourself?

SunyMiss: Hey miss thang! Even though I'm not a HUGE fan of my 9-5, sit at the computer desk job - it works for me right now and I love that. Thanks for always coming by and checking on me! You rock!

I love Miami, don't get me wrong - but with classes starting on Monday, I want to get myself mentally & physically prepared. I'll be staying behind to look after the house & the dog. My sisters don't want me to drive their cars (don't get me started) - so my dad is letting me borrow his truck for the weekend. YeeHAW! Tonight is sushi with friends and DVD movie by my lonesome (but I so need the solo time). Tomorrow - I will probably lay around the pool & catch some rays. I am hoping for a fun and relaxing weekend, nothing TOO crazy!

Hope you all have a GREAT weekend yourselves :)

Good to hear that your knee is feeling better, and that you are getting back into the swing of things. Do you run on sand? That is one of the best workouts that I know of too, and it does not hurt your joints as bad as running on pavement. It does fabulous things to your calf muscles too. Men and women both.

No, I do not mumble "you are so beautiful" on steady slow rides. I have some just as bad songs that get caught in my head, though. The theme from the old TV show "The Love Boat", and some of the bad b-side Frank Sinatra that my dad likes come to mind (stuff you usually only hear as filler music at Italian restaurants). Horrible situation, that.

Have a good and slow weekend before school starts back. Take care.

Came up with an idea you need to get you a t-shirt made that says
I'm a bad listener! Shut up and leave me alone!

Hang in there maybe you'll have a quite peaceful weekend with them gone!

L - Salad with grilled chicken
D - Chicken breast with mixed veggies

[EXERCISE]:
; Running, 2 miles

[RUNNING TOTAL]:
; With today's 2 miles = 12 miles (68 miles to go)

The weekend was definitely a good one - I got really sick on Saturday night for some reason, I didn't eat very well throughout the day and then after greasy foods at dinner, my tummy hated me. It was a miserable feeling to say the least. After a little bit on Sunday, I got the courage to eat a sandwich and it felt great.

Classes start today - it's pretty exciting - I'm IN my major, and every class I'm taking is interesting. This is the final strut though - graduation is at the end of Summer, so I'm pysched. I'm taking classes online, but 1 class at school and that's Intermediate Spanish because taking it online is way too confusing and I want to actually LEARN it as opposed to just passing the class.

Schedule for today made me realize why last Spring - I did sooo well in my eating and working out:

9-5 Work
Dinner/change
7-9 Class
Late-night treadmill run
Home/Shower/Sleep

Kussanna: Come move to Florida & be my running buddy! Haha... I read your journal, didn't post, but wow on the long run, you rock! I'll be doing WAY more posting in others journals starting today, thanks for the continued support.

Fagan: I will be incorporating beach runs next week - I've gotten some information on them, and I am am scared/excited to do it! BAYWATCH in action (ha ha)

SunyMiss: I love the "Miss Florida" title - I've always dreamed of being in a pagent like that - to represent my state and strut my stuff allover stage. I LOVE the shirt idea too!

Back on track and feeling GREAT! :)

Baywatch...uggghhhh. When I was riding this morning, there was a woman running up the canyon road that I was on with only a bright-red sports-bra for a top. Take my advice here...get a sports bra that FITS and SUPPORTS you. This poor lady's chest was mashed flat, but was not supported, and it looked...painful. Owy. Don't let this happen to you!

Let us know how the running goes. If we had sand around here, I would try running in it too. It does not hurt your joints, and is one hell of a workout. If you really like bicycling, and want to practice hills, then I think that toll bridges are your best alternative. And riding against the wind, especially those hot winds that blast inland from the beach in the afternoons. That will kill you. Does it do that where you are? It does that from Jacksonville to Daytona on the east coast of Florida.

I hope that you have a great first week of school. Take care.

; No running today (but correction on yesterday, I ran 3 miles instead of 2 taking me to = 13 miles (67 miles to go)

Yesterday was my first busy day! WHEW! Felt great being where I had to be, and to keep my body moving. Once I got home from class - I was pumped to go running & ended up running 3 miles instead of 2! I was soo energetic, I loved it!

Tonight - I was looking forward to going home, doing laundry and relaxing but a friend of mine bought 2 tickets to the Boston Red Sox vs. Devil Rays game, and really wanted me to go - so it looks like that's the deal for tonight at 7:10pm. After the game, I'm going to go home, throw in 1 load of laundry and get to bed.

This weekend, my best girlfriend wanted to go to Orlando (1½ hours east) for her birthday with a big group of people. Danny (BF) said he would meet me there! I'm excited to see my old friends and have a fun weekend, but that just means that ALL my schoolwork has to be done before Friday. EEEK!

Melissa: Being back in my busy schedule feels great - and so does knowing that I'm only a year away from graduating. WHEW finally! I have a love/hate relationship with running. I HATE preparing to go on a run, but the moment I'm running - I love it.

SunyMiss: Hmm... I haven't heard of Lover's Cove, I've heard of Honeymoon Island and a bunch of other Island things! But ooolalala - if Lover's Cove does exist, that would be romantic! Haha- I switched up today with a Tim McGraw country song!

Kussanna: The beaches really are great to be around - so relaxing! I'm going to post a picture from behind my house at the bottom!

Fagan:  At the girl with the squished sports bra! Poor thing(s)! I hardly ever go running without a t-shirt or tank - but I do make sure that my sports bras are nice and fitting. As for the running - I ran against wind last night, and I definitely felt the effects of that. I loved it. I will make sure to keep you all up to date on when I go sand running next week! Thanks for the good luck with my classes! They look to be somewhat tough but managable! My bike is in the shop getting a tune-up -- I had 2 bikes, 1 road bike and 1 mountain bike... and the road bike was a gift, more like a hand-me-down, so I took it to the shop to get looked over and repaired. I'm excited to get it back!

Have a great day :)

Yesterday was full of madness from work and class & working out. I got a 100% on my first quiz of the semester - not too shabby. I'm trying SO hard to get all of my homework/assignments completed and submitted before I leave to Orlando in the morning. The last thing I need is to be stressed out all weekend! My gramma & mom are taking my sister up to Tallahassee to get her settled in the apartment - so I'll have the house to myself tonight! (I live with my Gramma) YESSS! I'm excited - I'm making a delicious dinner, I have a Pilates workout DVD that I will be doing. Not to mention - the quiet dinner table to do all of my work in peace & quiet with no Game Shows in the background.

Unfortunately though- I have about 4 loads of laundry to do! And to mini-pack for an exciting weekend.

To all: I'm sure this weekend will be a blast - I'm DD for Friday night so that definitely takes away any chances of me being a drunkie in Orlando - that thought just scares me anyways! It'll be good to catch up with my 2 best friends - I don't talk to them very often but no matter what - we'll always be best friends - don't you love those kinds?

I miss the ocean, and the beautiful sunsets or sunrises. We moved all over the U.S. when I was growing up, but were always within 2-3 hours of the coast. It is over 1000 miles from here to the cloesest beaches in either Texas or California. Blech.

My run yesterday was a great one! I went a total distance of 3.24 miles - actual running was just under 3 miles, whew! It felt great, I wanted to stop so many times but I knew that I didn't NEED to stop so I just kept pumping my legs. I'm taking a break today with a 1-mile run, and focusing more on abs and thighs with a Pilates video.

My goal today is just focus on water-intake. Last night before I went to bed, I could just feel that my body NEEDED h2o - I was parched and dehydrated... yuck! But it was a good reminder for me to DRINK WATER! When I went to see a nutritionist at college 2 years back - she said I hardly drank enough liquids - and it took time for me to actually force myself to drink water instead of eating. She said, "many times when you think you're craving foods, you are actually craving liquids or water". Honestly - I think she is right. After doing that, my skin complexion, my attitude, my workouts were significantly better.

So cheers! :water:

I got in over 2L of water yesterday! YAY! :water: Today, I'm trying to focus on water intake AND take a closer look at the calories I consume througout the day. Some calorie counters know religiously whats going in their bodies at ALL times - and most of the time, I just assume that I can have that chip, but do I really know?

I don't want to become all extreme with my calorie counting because let's face it - we all have lives and carrying around a little notebook to restaurants on vacation seems a little TOO intense. I'm certain that I'm not "dumb" as to what may be OK and not OK to put into my body, but I'm all about small changes here and there.

I know tons about exercise - cardio - weight lifting; but my knowledge on dieting is ridiculous. To be safe, I'm going to try to keep my calories under 1,500/daily. I hope to learn MORE about protein & fats and such as I go along - I'll be using FitDay to guide me (Thanks to Nancy for the help there)

So that will start tomorrow :)

Congrats on getting in your water.
I think the best calorie counter is just listening to your body.
Everyone is different and hey if you eat lots fresh fruits and veggies
along with grilled, broiled or baked proteins you won't get into any trouble anyways.

It's those pesky sugar, fatty, fried, processed crap that gets the calories really up.

Your doing just wonderful and you I am sure will kick the 10K out for sure with ease!

Moving back in with your parents? That could be...weird after being on your own in college and all. I didn't even know that you were living with your grandmother, helping her, or anything like that. That is so...mature and nice. I'm glad that you and your uncle have places to hang your hats, though. You could end up with some roommate from hell. I've had a few of those, and it is no fun.

I hope that you have a nice weekend, and get out of the grumpies. I also hope that you snap out of the depressed feelings. Be sure to notice the good out there too. Your family is stepping up to help take care of you after the car accident, school is going well, and your BF will be closer soon...right? Hang in there, and take care of yourself.

Weekend has been so far, so good. I went out Friday night dancing with some friends- I was the DD - so 2 drinks for me the entire night (at the beginning of the night too). It was fun though. Saturday - had a hair appointment, went to the mall & then went to the Live Draft Fantasy Football thing, it was a lot of fun. The guys would burp and remember I was there and would be like "omg I'm sorry"

After the draft - a couple of us went to Applebees to hang out. I had 1 glass of wine & 1 or 2 cheese quesidillas, I had been doing so well diet wise this week that I definitely didn't want to over do it. So I stopped at 2. They all wanted to go out to a country bar but I wasn't feeling up to it - so I went home and was in bed by 12:30am.

Today is a slow moving day - probably because I know tomorrow is a holiday so there's no need to get everything together just yet for the upcoming week... I have a 3pg paper due by midnight that I've sporadically been working on - I will finish that up here soon & then work on some "financial management" homework (doesn't that sound so exciting?)

Thanks for the cheer-ups on my "bummer Bekah" as Melissa calls it  Half the time, it just comes randomly, and honestly - I get those moods like once every 3 weeks and it quickly goes away.

Anyone have any special plans for Labor day? I'm thinking SUNSHINE and family time! And... of course the FSU vs Clemson game at 8pm. Cheer us on!

Melissa: I am in a league with my brother, BF, and sister and my brother's friends - it's exciting! I'm not too shabby either - next year I hope to get involved in a live draft thing! So we'll see!

Fagan: Yep - I live with Gram's - well for another day or so. Moving back in with my parents, a whole 2 minutes down the road, won't be horrible... it'll just take some getting used to. Thanks for opening my eyes to the fact that there ARE good things coming my way - even if I am in a bummed out mood!

Tuesday AM I woke up SUPER sore in the weirdest places: forearms? biceps and pecs & calves (from going up and down flights of stairs).

Yesterday I was just a pile of soreness after work - I did nothing but lay around the house like a bum! :o

Today I woke up - flipped on Fit TV and worked out - my mom walked by the family room and was like "Huh?" "It's 7:30am!!" hahaha!

Heading to the BFs on Friday by train and his dad will be picking me up since he'll be bartending at Chilis until 10pm. BF's birthday is on Saturday, he'll be catching up with me at 22. Friday night, his sister who is turning 11 or 12 (I can't remember?) is having a slumber party so when I get all settled, I'll probably play around with them - and then ask them to all get up with me at 7am and make Danny "breakfast in bed" for his birthday. I'm sure his little sister will LOVE IT! Not many plans for Saturday- maybe get some sun? His sister has a soccer game at 4pm & there's lots of football on (YES!) - then we're going out to dinner with his parents at Season's 52! I've been there once AND loved it. Sunday night, BF is going to drive me half way and meet up with my parents somewhere since I work on Monday (and have a big test! eeek!).

Other than that - I'll just be settling into my new abode & working on homework because my teacher's must of gotten a memo that reads: "BEKAH HAS NO LIFE SO SHE LOVES WRITING PAPERS AND COMPLETING PAGE AFTER PAGE OF HOMEWORK!"

Had a slight change in my meal plan for today - I just wanted something other than a wrap so I got: Genisoy rice crispers (110cal) + 20oz smoothie from Smoothie King w/ Diet Down (440cal)

so that makes total calories for the day = 1347cal

I guess I'm trying to keep between a 1200 and 1500 calories/per day plan! Does anyone know the "rules" on this? Sometimes I feel like I'm eating too much and other days I feel like I'm starving - I'm sure it HAS to be my actual food choices throughout the day...

GREAT weekend yall. Lots of fun - relaxing - family time with the BF :)

Tonight = my girlfriends 21st birthday so we're going out to eat at an Italian restaurant - but I'm not a huge pasta fan, so I'm thinking a safe bet is salad w/ chicken.

BF loved the weekend -the dinner with the family and the Luau (for his sister) went well - the girls loved having an "older girl" around!

It's been a hectic day to say the least - so I'll be back with more updates, of course :)

I woke up today feeling sorta puney. I hate that feeling - and apparently the pollen level is through the roof, so I'm HOPING that's the reasoning behind my stuffy congestion & tired-ness. Other than that, lots of homework to be done - crazy amounts really. Probably will attempt to knock that out after class tonight.

Sewing starts back up next week - I am PSYCHED! But that just means more busy and less "me" time, but I will get everything in a routine. Now that we have my little "sweatshop" set up at my dad's office - my sewing teacher is renting out 2 rooms to have her classes, before, I was driving 45 minutes each way to see her but now it's literally 15 minutes away AND my sewing room is right down the hall so no major lugging around! YES! My mom and dad are letting her sew rent free (with my mom and my classes being paid for) - so that's $80/month - so $160. That's pretty much the electric bill. Sounds good to me! :D

Sewing, classes, working out, and work - here we go again guys! OH and Biggest Loser challenge (I'm a Smurf again!) :cheer:

It's been pretty hectic around here! Family, friends - there's always something new to talk about! I guess it keeps life interesting at least :P Went to the smoothie store to get a smoothie & they offer "Skinny" now - which means making your smoothie 100 calories less & 35g carbs gone. So I definitely opted for that - and it tastes great (maybe even better) - and they actually take a supplement out - Tauberine (or something like that) - so my meal replacement is 300 calories instead of 400! That's good news at least.

I've been learning to take healthier steps each day - take the stairs/ not the elevator ; walk across the street/ don't drive ; take the dog for a walk/ don't just let him out back .... etc ...

YAY - it's Friday! :cheer:

Last night was super hectic and I just wanted to go to sleep to get away from it all. But woke up today, didn't have to come into work until 11am, and it's payday - so you could only imagine, I'm pretty happy so far.

I've been wanting to take a hold of my weekends - It seems like I'm always going somewhere - so I really wanted to make this weekend slow and steady and focused on centering everything around my EXERCISES.

Tomorrow- I'm going on 15-mile bike ride with some friends; I'm not too sure if I'm prepared for it, but I know I have enough endurance in me, and enough push in me to do it. Plus, time flies when you're having fun, and so does the miles. (Hopefully)

Other than that - it's basic conditioning tonight before dinner with a friend at a Thai restuarant - just did some research on healthy picks so I should be pretty set. And on Sunday, I think I may get some swimming in - I wanted to give my knee a break from running this weekend so it'll be good to try some other exercises.

Hey! What healthy picks did you find for the Thai place? I have been craving this Thai place here, but have been scared off by the enormous sodium contents and unknown calories! Any tips would be a lifesaver!

Enjoy dinner and your slower paced weekend!

Melissa: I had the Chicken & mixed veggies - and it was delicious. Pretty much you can't really go horribly wrong with Thai food (from what I read). I never really paid attention to sodium, it's soaked in the broth - so I'm sure that carries sodium, but I asked for very little broth, and it worked out. I didn't feel bloated or anything after dinner! From websites, they said pretty much stay away from anything with the coconut milk. They also have tofu type meals at the Thai restaurant I went to - but I'm not a HUGE fan of that. Their veggies were delicious!

Weekend went well! Pretty busy - got in a 15-mile bike ride today, I loved it! My little sister (who's 17) works at a Mom & Pop Cuban restaurant - it's MUY DELICIOSO! Well - they needed someone to work 2 or 3 days a week, and since my sister is SUPER close to them, they asked me to help out - so I'm just going to work 1 day during the week and on the weekends. They close at 9pm, so I'll never be out later than 9:30pm and it's close to my house. It'll be good to get out of the office and get some social time too! I think it's for the better - and I'm not going to be working TOO much - it'll be just perfect!

Started at the Cuban Cafe today - it was lots of fun, very slow - but fun nonethless. I made about ~$50 in tips and met alot of the "regulars". I didn't get to bed til 3am last night because I was being OCD about my test and wanted to make sure it was perfect before I submitted it. So needless to say, I'm worn out. I have class tonight from 7-8pm and then I'll be going for a 1 mile walk with my sister and working on some crunches later on.

It's early to bed tonight for sure! :)

So...you are working for your parents, going to school, working at a Cuban Cafe, sewing, working out, seeing BF. Jeesh. This must be what Jessica's life was like in college. Be sure to take some chill-time too. You don't want to burn all the way out so soon into the fall semester.

How was the bike ride? Except for the bum discomfort, I'll bet it was no problem at all for you. What you usually do is a lot harder on your legs and stuff than bicycling.

I hope that your week goes well. Sleep, study, work, repeat. Take care.

Fagan: I will for sure be taking "chill-time" too -- well, I hope at least. That's my goal. It feels good to be working but socializing at the same time rather than sitting behind a desk BUT I do get my homework done behind the desk too - that's why I chose to split it up. It will and can very easily become hectic, but both of my "bosses" are extremely understanding (especially DAD!). I honestly thought I was gonna DIE from the bike ride, I thought 15 miles was just going to be HELL - but I had energy to keep pumping away - the bridges that we crossed felt great on the legs and the off-roading and riding in SAND was challenging but was very fun. We turned around because one of the guys was totally exhausted - but I definitely want to try a 3-4 hour bike ride - with small rest stops, etc... now I can fully understand (if spinning wasn't enough) why biking is a huge part of your life!

Tuesday, sweet Tuesday! :o It's a busy day for me - this week is actually CRAZY busy for me. I'm at my parent's office now, I went for a 1-mile walk this morning, just didn't have the push to "run" unfortunately - I should have maybe grabbed the bike and went for a bike ride but I could see myself biking forever and missing work altogether. I work here from 9am until 2pm. Then lunch-snack time and then heading to Cuban Delight -- it's my training from 3pm until 8pm - it really won't be too bad at all, the boss is working with me so I'll have guiding.

After work - I plan on doing some crunches and free weights in my room to some groovy music (just downloaded some 70 and 80's mix songs) HAHA!

Tomorrow (Wed) & Thursday will be back to normal (meaning- no Cuban Delight training) - so I'm definitely excited about that.

I've really been trying to focus on my eating and working out - I know I could do better right now, Biggest Loser 3 is pushing me though. I gotta come through for my team! I think my body is getting used to the hustle and will begin shedding some inches and/or weight soon! I know this is NOT a quick process - it never has been for me, and never will be. But most importantly, incorporating my diet and exercise into my LIFESTYLE has felt amazing. I have people noticing that I make healthy choices consistently and my parents say I'm the "healthiest" family member we have - now it's my time to reflect my actions onto others. Once things begin to slow down a bit in the house, my mom and dad want to get out walking and bike riding not to loose weight, but
