View Full Version : "D" is for DISCIPLINE, not DIET
stickn2it 06-30-07, 12:16 AM Okay, so I finally started my new journal. Yeah, I know it took me long enough. The hardest part was coming up w/ what I wanted to call it and I finally settled on "D" is for DISCIPLINE, not DIET. I strongly believe that in order to keep on this great track of maintaining, discipline is necessary. I have learned that I am not on a diet, nor have I ever been. I look back and realize that I changed to a healthier way of living that takes discipline and always will. I have to discipline myself when it comes to my calories, my water intake, and my exercise. I do not have to cut out my favorite foods, exercise 7 days a week, take pills, starve myself, or any of the like...I JUST HAVE TO BE DISCIPLINED.
Well, this spin of from "The Time Has Come" will hopefully keep me dedicated and disciplined to what I have accomplished thus far. I welcome everyone...old and new. DT has been so good to me over the last year and a half...I feel at home in here. With that said, this will not only be about maintaining my 50 pd. weightloss, but also my life...my happiness, my ups and downs, my moaning and groaning, etc. I am looking forward to this new journal and new start. CHEERS!!
stickn2it 06-30-07, 12:35 AM Okay, so in this journal I am trying to make myself more disciplined and accountable. It seems as though sometimes I get too lax because I have met my goal. I need to get and keep that in check. I will attempt to post my stats for each day...I know I won't do it everyday, but I will make an honest attempt.
STATS:
B: Toast, Jelly, Coffee w/creamer
L: Chinese food (out w/ my family shopping)
D: Homemade tostados (all topping measured accordingly)
I will probably have some fruit before bed.
E: 70 minutes of walking/running, crunches, sets of arm dips and diamond push ups.
stickn2it 06-30-07, 05:53 PM I got the munchies last night X-(...bad me!! I had a couple chips and some dip. I didn't go completely crazy though, but I should have had more discipline, though...or at least reached for the fruit, instead. Oh well, today is a new day. One thing I have learned is that I can't harp over what's already done.
Today has been good. I slept in this morning. Got a lot of much needed rest, especially after the week I've had. I got up and had some breakfast (packet of instant grits, lower sodium bacon, and coffee). After breakfast I headed to the gym. I had a great workout.
GYM STATS:
warm up (10 minutes on bike)
elliptical (25 minutes)
stairclimber (15 minutes)
crunches (160)
3 sets of 20 for toning (hip abduction, leg curls, and leg press)
I could use another nap now. I also stopped on the way home and treated myself to a much needed pedicure. It was long overdue. It took a little longer than planned, but the massaging chair sure felt good after my workout. Well, I better get a move on the rest of my afternoon. The bf and I are supposed to go check out 1408 at the movies tonight and I've got tons to do, so I will post more later.
LUNCH: Subway
Hi Kelly.
love the title of your new journal..oh so true!!!
you and i are both maintaining a 50 pound loss and it aint easy but its about staying focused on the things that got us to goal and not slacking off thinking the hard work is done.
great job on your workout today..i bet that massage chair felt great! i need one after my workout yesterday everything is aching today!
Have a great weekend. enjoy the movie!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-02-07, 10:40 AM Okay, so I am back to work today...the rest of the office is on summer break, so it is rather peaceful. I have gotten off to a good start this morning and WILL remain DISCIPLINED throughout the rest of the day. Food wise, my DISCIPLINE was yuck this weekend...I am not even gonna lie, but I didn't do too bad and still got in some good days of working out. I was on the go so much that I had to grab and go, this week should be much more settled and relaxed, and I can get my focus back.
Saturday night went to dinner and movies w/ the bf. We saw 1408 and lets just say I was none too thrilled. It was not what I thought it was going to be. I was a little disappointed. Yesterday, I did some shopping w/ my best friend. She wanted me to help her find some jeans. Ofcourse, I ended up buying stuff too. I bought two pairs of jeans, black slacks, and 5 shirts.
Bell-Glad you like the new title. It took me so long to come up w/ what I wanted it to be called. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Congrats on your weightloss as well. It is difficult to maintain. Sometimes we let ourselves slide because we've made goal, but we have to remained focused. I guess we have to face it...THIS IS OUR LIFE...but I love it and wouldn't want it to be any other way.
I was thinking that when I was shopping yesterday. How amazing it is to slide into a size 6...when I was a 14. I am so happy.
Well, I better get to work and get some work done. I will catch up w/ everyone later.
Breakfast:
English muffin, tsp of jelly, slice of bacon, 1/2 cup of grapes, coffee, tsp of creamer
lovemyjeep 07-02-07, 11:05 AM Hey Kelly, glad you came up with a new title. Now, I have to remember it. lol. Good going on putting in your eating/workouts.
stickn2it 07-02-07, 02:48 PM LMJ-Thanks and glad you found my journal. I still haven't figured out how to link it in my signature...call me a slow learner.
Okay, so I am trying to put my food in on here too, but I do it on fitday, and just realized now I am doing it in both places. It is more intense on fitday, though. I will try and keep it up on here and see how it goes. I will continue to put in my exercise stats, but I am now reconsidering the food thing.
Snack: plum, 100 calories hostess snack
Lunch: Lean Cuisine Panini w/ 2 tsp. picante sauce
I like the new journal too. Discipline. Wow. You have it down.
I totally understand not wanting to post your food twice. I only do mine on fitday right now. I used to post my calorie totals...you could pull that off of fitday with little effort.
Take care!
stickn2it 07-02-07, 08:25 PM CFJ-I thought it would be a good idea and it is, but in all honesty I don't think I have time to do it twice and I am REAL committed to fitday. I think I may steal your idea and post my calories totals at the end of the night. Yeah...I think I will.
Well, I am in the middle of ironing and cooking dinner. Just got in from the gym, so I am gonna post my stats and get back to dinner.
GYM STATS:
Warm Up (12 min bike)
Tummy/Sides (Crunches = 160)
Back (3 sets of 15)
Arms (Lat pull downs 3(20) & inward lat pull downs 3(20))
Cardio (Crosstraining elliptical 35 minutes)
More Cardio (TM 23 minutes...walk=.5 mile & ran=1.0+miles)
Total Calorie Intake: 1842
Okay, gotta run for now.
stickn2it 07-04-07, 01:17 PM Yesterday was a fantastic day and the last day of my workweek. I am off until Monday. I am excited. I have nothing to do, but I am not going to work, so that thrills me. I went out for girl's night last night and had a great time. We went to a Dave and Busters and had dinner, drinks, and played games. I played some video games and basketball. The whole day...calorie and water wise was great. Minus the two margaritas (rather small), I did really well and was completely disciplined. I am so proud when I have days like that.:o For dinner, while my dining companions were having quesadillas and nachos, I had a grilled chicken salad, with the dressing and cheese on the side. It turned out that I didn't even need the dressing. There was some type of glaze of the chicken, and that sufficed. I used very little shredded cheese and put the rest to the side (I knew it wasn't fat free). So, all in all, a very good day.
As for today, nothing really planned. I have had breakfast and coffee and am about to do a few things around the house, and that's it. Nothing major and no holiday plans. The bf has a family thing going on, but he is working today, so I won't be doing that. I don't think my family is doing much either, so I am hanging in the house for now.
stickn2it 07-04-07, 05:14 PM Workout Stats:
Crunches 120 (ab ball)
Lunges 3(20)
Dips 3(15)...using coffee table
Cario 40 minutes (TM)
Now it's time for some lunch before heading to my mom's to see what they are up to. I like to go have coffee w/ her and visit.
Thats definately discipline when you can go out and eat and not feel obliged to eat crap just because others are. good for you.
I hope you had a nice relaxing 4th of July!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-05-07, 09:56 PM Bell-thanks for the support. I did feel good about my eating decisions. I am very pleased w/ my progess lately...minus a few munchy moments, I have really been doing good.
As for today, I didn't do much. I was off of work and hung out w/ the bf briefly before he went to work. I also had to do a short radio segment for my pt job today. That was this morning and was over before I knew it. This afternoon I went to the laundry mat to wash my comforter and then headed to the gym. Big Brother is back on, so I will cut this short.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (10 min on bike)
Abs/Sides (Crunches = 160)
Toning Legs (hip abduction...inward and outward 3x25 each)
Toning Legs (leg curls 3x15)
Cardio (35 min on elliptical)
Another Big Brother Fan eh???
the aussie version is on here at the moment..been a bit boring this year..no real controversary :)
its a good feeling when you see some real progress and its becoming more of a lifsetyle than a struggle. i have that feeling at the moment too..hoping it hangs around!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-06-07, 01:28 PM Bell-I am a huge Big Bro fan. I love it. Sometimes the seasons here can be a bit boring, but I think this one will be pretty good. They are 3 people in that will also have 3 of their enemies or rivals also staying there. Should make for a pretty good summer. Last night was the season premiere and I am quite looking forward to it.
Well, nothing is really planned for today. It is raining AGAIN here. It has been raining ALOT for the last couple of weeks. It really puts a damper on things to do. I went to the gym yesterday, so I will probably just workout around the house today (get on the TM or something).
My bathroom flooded last night due to the faucet in the tub breaking and I couldn't get the water off fast enough, so I am still washing towels, bath rugs, etc. this morning. I just woke up not too long from a long night of laundry. Well, I better get back to it. Catch up with you all later.
stickn2it 07-07-07, 08:40 PM I have done incredibly well today. I love it when I have days like this. Everything has been great...calories, water, and exercise. My protein is even up today...YIPPIE!!! I am so thrilled because my eating hadn't been too great lately, and I made the decision last night when I went to bed that I needed to get my butt back in gear. I am extremely proud of myself.
Gym Stats:
Warm up (11 min bike)
Abs/Side (160 Crunches)
Back toning (3x15)
Arm toning (dips 3x15)
Arm toning (diamond push-ups 3x15)
Cardio (35 min crosstraining elliptical)
Cardio (15 min TM w/ incline)
Well, the bf and I are heading to the mall. I need to take some things back that I purchased last week. I am having dinner before I leave, so I won't be tempted or hungry to grab any fast food.
stickn2it 07-08-07, 04:03 PM Weight is looking great. My goal is to always be under 155, which I am accomplishing. My 50 pd loss is at 153. This morning I weighed in at 151.5. I am doing pretty good. My calories last night were 1491 (excellent).
Good for you! I'm proud of you too. I hope that the rest of your weekend goes as well. Take care!
stickn2it 07-08-07, 05:59 PM CFJ-Thanks for the support. And, I hope your weekend is going well, also.
Day two of great workouts. I am feeling good about today, even though I haven't really done much but hung around the house. I have to get ready to head back to work tomorrow. I sure enjoyed my little break since Tuesday. I am going to have to get a good night's sleep tonight, so that I don't wake up groggy. I have got in plenty of rest and sleeping in. Well, I am just going to post my exercise stats and hit the shower.
Exercise Stats:
Stretching
Warm-Up: Jump Rope (200)
Toning: Side Twists (3x15)
Toning: Lunges w/weight (3x15)
Toning: Squats (3x15)
Abs: Ab Ball Crunches (3x40)
Cardio: TM Power Walking (2 miles)
stickn2it 07-09-07, 10:53 PM I had another day off today...because I was drained when I woke up this morning. I mean I literally could not drag myself out of bed. So, with that said, I didn't go to work today, but did lay around the house all day. I did some part-time work w/ a new client and went to the local track to workout this evening. I walked and ran 15 laps. I walked the first 6, then ran the next 6, then walked the last 3.
Well I am off for the night. Don't want to have another morning like today.
looking good Kelly!!!!!
good for you on getting even lower with your weight..that takes discipline indeed!!!
Hope the week ahead is a good one!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-10-07, 09:08 AM Bell-thanks for the encouragement. I definitely need to keep the discipline up. Ofcourse, I still have my days, but lately things have been okay and the munching has been better and a little more under control.
I made it to work this morning. I got up and only hit the snooze once. I had to pray my way thru getting out of bed, but by the grace of God I am here this morning. It is horrible that it takes so much for me to get up and come to work. I need to work on that.
Well, I rounded yesterday out with a calorie intake of 1364. I am pretty proud of that. Another good day. Well, I better get to work. Post more later.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I ordered the Core Secrets Program yesterday off of the TV. That is one thing I did get done while lounging around the house doing nothing. I am way excited about trying a new program. Has anyone ever tried it? And, what do you all think of it? I think it will be great for toning.
stickn2it 07-11-07, 04:40 PM Today has been a fairly good day. I got a pretty good night's rest last night and made it to work again today. I didn't get in any exercise yesterday because I had to work both jobs, but I will get in a few minutes on the TM in a minute. I am meeting a friend of mine this afternoon at the mall to help her find a dress for a wedding this weekend. I am going to get in some time on the TM (maybe 30 minutes) and do some crunches before I leave.
stickn2it 07-12-07, 08:49 AM At work right now...having my breakfast preparing for the day. (breakfast: english muffin and boiled egg white). I am so glad today is Thursday and my last workday this week. I complain about my job, but working 4(10)s is really a blessing. I treasure my weekends. I have a short day today and will immediately head to the gym after work. Yesterday I went to the mall w/ my friend to help her find a dress. I did not buy ANYTHING, which is a huge accomplishment for me. I have got to start doing better managing my money, so last night was a huge plus for me. Besides that, I have got some minor maintenance due on my vehicle coming up, so I need to be saving for those things that are NECESSARY...and clothes are not. I think I am growing up...scary thought. Anywho, I did workout yesterday 4(40) crunches on the ab ball and TM workout (20 min walk/17 min run). Which is a good thing because I ended up grabbing fast food last night (burger/fries) on the way home from the mall. Well, I better get to work. Post more later.
stickn2it 07-13-07, 03:29 PM Not a whole lot of time, but need to post gym stats from yesterday's workout.
Warm up (12 min on bike)
Abs/Sides (Crunches = 200)
Toning (Back 3x15)
Arms (Diamond Push-ups 3x15)
Arms (Chest Press 3x25)
Cardio (40 min on elliptical)
Cardio (10 min on spinning bike)
Hi Kelly.
stopping in to wish you a great weekend when it comes around to your hemisphere!
Have you got any exciting plans for the weekend?
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-14-07, 08:57 PM Bell-Thanks for the wishes. I don't really have much planned. Mostly will be hanging out w/ the bf and probably visiting my family. Other than that, that's about it. Nothing big.
Slept practically all day today. I literally did not get out of the bed until almost 2 o'clock. I am not sure why I was so tired. I did get up and finish some laundry, bathed and trimed my dog, and workout.
Workout today:
TM (40 minutes)
Abs (Crunches on ball 100)
Lunges (3x25)
Well, I am probably about to go to my moms. She made enchiladas (something I don't need, but I will be disciplined about it). Besides that, it is something she probably makes once every couple of years, so I will allow myself to be smart about it.
You are doing so, so well! Good for you. I'm glad that you are able to be sensible with mom's enchiladas too. What is life without some good stuff?
Keep up the great work, and have a great weekend!
stickn2it 07-15-07, 01:59 PM CFJ-Thanks for the support. I am trying to do as well as I possibly I can. I still have my slips, which is okay, but I need to keep them in check and just be sensible about things. You are so right, what is life w/o the fun stuff. And, I refuse to be someone who gives up everything. I think that we can have it all...within reason.
Well, the weekend has been pretty relaxed and dull on my end. Nothing great going on. This morning I woke up (extremely drained...I don't know what all this tiredness is about) and went to church, then to my moms. The weather is horrible here...raining again, but I am going to try and head to the gym in a little while to get a workout in. I have taken some fish out to cook for dinner and also need to get some ironing done for the week. I want to go ahead and get to the gym and get my workout in, so I can get back and have a relaxing afternoon. It's back to work for me tomorrow. Well, I need to catch up on some more journals. Later.
stickn2it 07-15-07, 06:01 PM About to cook dinner and get to ironing, but wanted to drop in and post gym stats. Had a great time at the gym and a great workout.
Stats:
Warm-up (Bike 12 min)
Toning (Leg Curl 4x20)
Toning (Inverted Hip Abduction 4x20)
Toning (Regular Hip Abduction 4x20)
Toning (Back 3x15)
Abs/Sides (Crunches 180)
Cardio (StairMaster 15 min)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 25 min)
feel free to send some of that rain you are getting my way..we are in a serious drought here in Australia and could do with a few drops thats for sure!
awesome workouts you have been doing. that will burn off those enchiladas in no time flat.
i am never going to be a perfect dieter..i like food too much but keeping the food in control(whilst allowing high cal stuff now and again) and keeping up the exercise has kept me at goal for years now so i am sticking with it.
hope you have a great week when you headback to work tomorrow.
hugs bell :)
lovemyjeep 07-16-07, 10:57 AM I can relate to the tiredness out of nowhere. Hope you find out why. Looks like your doing great keep up the good work!
stickn2it 07-16-07, 11:00 PM I don't know if any of you remember Sandie. She used to be on DT and has gotten off for a while. Well, I chatted w/ her online today and she wanted me to tell everyone hi. She is doing fine and misses DT. She wishes us all good luck and sends her best wishes.
LMJ-Thanks for stopping in. I hope you are feeling better. I don't know where my tiredness comes from. Sometimes I just get in these lulls where there is no dragging me out of bed or out of the house.
Well, today was a good day calorie and exercise wise. My water could have been better, but I will try and get one more bottle down before hitting the sack. I am going to turn in early tonight and try and get some GOOD sleep. I am making a goal (which I have done this one before) of not hitting the snooze in the morning. It may not seem like a big deal, but I am terrible about it and need to get back on track and not drag out my mornings. It really only makes things worse. Well, I have a couple things to do before bed, so I better get to em.
Exercise:
Abs (80 crunches on ball)
Arms (Dips 3x15...using coffee table)
Cardio (4 miles...walk 3, ran 1)
stickn2it 07-17-07, 05:43 PM So far, the day has been really productive. I got some good sleep last night and woke up ready for work today. I have done well so far w/ calories and water. I am little tired now, but I have a meeting to attend this afternoon for my PT job, so I am about to have some afternoon coffee and relax for a hot sec before going to the meeting. I don't know if I will get in any exercise today, but I am surely going to make an attempt.
lovemyjeep 07-18-07, 11:37 AM Your always so busy. Sounds like your doing good. How are the tireds (I know thats not a word lol) . Did you manage to get your excersize in yesterday? Hopefully, soon I'll be up there with you.
Keep it up, Kelly...your doing great in maintance and I'm proud of you!
stickn2it 07-18-07, 07:42 PM LMJ-I am feeling better. I am getting better sleep (not last night, though...tossed and turned a lot). I think the key is to get good rest and wake up when my alarm clock actually goes off, so I don't drag my day out. I didn't get to workout yesterday, but managed to today.
Well, today has been good to me. I am having a little tummy ache, but all is well. I worked today then headed to the gym. I got in about an hour workout. I didn't do any toning or abs, just cardio. I have some chicken in the oven for dinner, so I better get back to that.
Gym Stats:
10 min on bike
30 min on crosstraining elliptical
15 min on stairclimber.
If my stomach feels better I may do some crunches before bed. I have a lot to do tonight, though. I need to read up on some forms for my PT job. I got a new client today who need to complete the Crime Victims' Compensation paperwork and I need to prepare myself so that I can better assist her. I also have to clean up the kitchen, finish the laundry, eat dinner, shower, the list goes on and on.
stickn2it 07-19-07, 09:19 AM It is going to be a joyous day. I don't quite know why, but basically becase I said so. I am so hyped up this morning for no reason at all and I love it. It is about time I woke up thoroughly excited about life, and I am loving it. I woke up late this morning, got to work late this morning, and will have to stay an hour over to make up the time, but it is OKAY. It happens. There is no point in being down about it...at least I slept wonderfully. Well, as for work, I better get to it. Later.
stickn2it 07-19-07, 09:53 PM Bell - I am so sorry that I overlooked your input earlier this week. I guess I wasn't reading carefully. I totally agree with you. Everything has to be done in moderation and in control. I can't be one of those dieters who gives up certain things. I don't think I will ever give up anything.
Well, today was totally progressive and productive. I got a lot accomplished and got some new things put on my plate...work wise...not food. It is all good though, I like the feeling of being productive and actually getting the job done.
I got in my new Core Secrets workout stuff today. I was so excited. I ordered it a little over a week ago and was thinking that it would take much longer to arrive, but when I pulled in the garage it had been delivered. Well, needless to say, I did some of that tonight w/ my cardio workout.
Exercise:
Core Secrets (about 30 minutes...some cardio and toning techniques)
TM (40 minutes walking and running)
Well, I am off for now, got some things to take care of.
Great to hear you sounding so hyped up and loving life..isnt it great when you wake up feeling awesome and being grateful for another day!
no worries about overlooking my earlier post..i do that all the time myself :)
cool that the core secrets stuff got to you so quickly!
hugs bell :)
lovemyjeep 07-22-07, 12:41 PM I love Core Secrets stuff! What did you get??? You sound so positive. Its contagious!! Today is going to be a glorious day too!! Just keep repeating that and everyday can be a good one.
stickn2it 07-22-07, 05:17 PM Bell-I was very surprised that is got here so fast, but I have been enjoying every minute of it. It is a great feeling to wake up grateful and positive, which is something I struggle to do, but so far all is good.
LMJ-I am glad it is contagious. You are right we keep repeating it to ourselves. I have realized that half the time "we" are the ones that stand in the way of our own happiness. I know for me that is true because I worry so much and have anxiety, slight depression, well that list goes on, but I am so hyped and happy when I have my good days.
I weighed in this morning at 152.5. I am so happy I am still under goal, but it is important to keep it that way and maintain the discipline that is necessary to stay on track. My eating this past week (on certain days) was not good, and I went out Friday and Saturday, so I was afraid to weigh, but I am pleased. I just finished w/ a good workout, so I gotta hit the shower.
Exercise:
TM power walking for 35 minutes
Core Secrets DVD for 20 minutes
I love my Core Secrets. I mean it targets everything. I get the cardio, (cuz I am sweating like a pig for that 20 minutes)toning, abs, legs, arms, wight training, everything. I am very pleased so far.
stickn2it 07-23-07, 08:33 AM I finished up the day excellently yesterday. My exercise, calories, and water were in great shape for a Sunday. I am back to work this morning and ready for a productive and successful day. The plan is to go to the gym immediately after work. I think I may get off a little early today because it is a planning day and we usually do, so if I do get off early, I can get to the gym a little earlier. I am doing both of my jobs today. I have some work to do for my PT job on a case I started Friday. I have some calls and whatnot to make to get this poor lady set up.
Yesterday, the BF and I went to Barnes & Noble to get a gift card for my sister's birthday and I also got a new book. I finally got "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer. I love Joyce Meyer. I just think she is so incredible. I have a couple of her books and audio CDs already. I started reading a little in bed last night and also brought it to work w/ me today, in the event I have some down time. Well, I guess I better get some work done since I am on company time. I will talk w/ everyone later.
You should be very proud, a loss of 50 lbs. is amazing! Get it up.
lovemyjeep 07-23-07, 11:52 AM When I had the time I used to watch Joyce Meyer all the time. She is incredible. Now, I am homeschooling all 3 kids and just don't have the time. I should dvr her.
Sounds like your doing great with your workouts as usual. Congrats on the weigh in!! Your below your goal weight thats excellent.
From the sounds of things you and bf are doing pretty good. *see how nosey I am* Good for you both.
Keep up the good work! And thanks for all the support!
stickn2it 07-23-07, 07:45 PM Angus-thanks for the support. You are always welcomed to stop in anytime. Do you currently have a journal going?
LMJ-Yeah, so far so good. The bf and I are really hitting it off and enjoy spending time w/ each other. I think about getting better cable for a dvr and for the purpose of recording Joyce Meyer. She does her Enjoying Everyday Life every weekday night at 11:30, and I am counting sheep by then.
Great, great day. I got off work a little early today, so I was able to head to the gym early and get in a good workout. So far today my calories, water, and exercise have been in great shape.
Gym Stats:
10 mike bike warm-up
Abs/Sides (Crunches 175)
Cardio (StairMaster 15 min)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 30 minutes)
Okay, now it is time for me to conjure up something for dinner.
You were not kidding with the name of your journal. It reads like a "discipline are us" site. Wow. Don't forget to have some silly-fun, and to stop and smell the roses too. Way to go with your bad-self. Take care.
kristen23 07-25-07, 12:35 PM Kelly!Kelly!Kelly!
I FINALLY made it to your journal....phew, that took forever...:D
You and your consistency is such an inspiration to me. There were times (namely, the spring), when I thought there was no way I would ever get off track. I couldn't imagine not working out everyday, I couldn't imagine letting one bad meal really set me back. And it did. I changed jobs and fell off- hard. Now, I am almost back to where I started last October.
Anyway, not to talk about myself in your journal- but, seeing someone who has really made a lifestyle change, achieved their goal, and is still working at it everyday.....truly motivates me. Thanks Kelly!
Have a great day!!!
stickn2it 07-25-07, 10:35 PM CJF-Yeah, I am trying to remember to stop and smell the roses. I can be so hard on myself it is embarassing. I must admit that I am getting better. As the old saying goes, "I am not where I want to be, but thank God I ain't where I used to be." I consider myself to be a daily and continual work in progress.
Kristen-thanks for the encouragment. I am so glad that you made around to visit my journal. Posts like yours inspire me to keep going because I know that I may be pushing someone else to keep going.
Well, things w/ me are great, but it has been an incredibly busy week w/ both my jobs. Eating today was great...yesterday...got the munchiesX-(, but I can't beat myself up over yesterday. Each day provides us w/ the renewal of body, mind, attitude, and spirit. It is like we get a brand new canvas every morning. Anyway, food today has been much better, but still didn't make it to the gym (day 3). Tomorrow I have no plans after work and am not making any. I AM HEADING TO THE GYM. My bag is still packed in my car.
Well, I just got in from work and running errands. I quickly made something to eat and have some more things to do before bed. I will catch up w/ everyone later.
Kelly - Congratlations on the weight loss, that's totally awesome. That's what I do too, I keep my gym back in my car this way I'm always perpared.
take care! Katherine
Hi Kelly, hope that you manage to make it to the gym. i hadnt been since Sat and felt like a sloth without those workouts..felt great to get back there today!!!!
Hope you are having a great week!!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-26-07, 07:47 AM Katherine-thanks for stopping in to visit my journal. I try to always stay prepared w/ a bag in the car because then I don't have a reason not to go. I have been so busy lately that I've missed out on the gym, but today is the day.
Bell-I know exactly what you mean. I know I couldn't help it because I had both jobs going on at the same time, but boy I sure felt horrible about missing my workouts. I sure like to try and at least get in 30 minutes of something, but it has been so crazy this week. I am back to it today.
Just to say how crazy my days are, I have been thinking that yesterday was Thursday and that I hadn't worked out in 3 days...whew...just realized that yesterday was Wednesday and today is Thursday and I've only missed 2 days. Man I feel much better about that. Well, last day of work this week, and I have got a busy day ahead of me. Post more later.
lovemyjeep 07-26-07, 09:00 AM Your doing great, my friend, don't worry about 2 days, just don't let it turn into 2 weeks (which I don't think you'd be capable of doing!) Your a positive energy person. Keep at it. I'm glad your still around alot of people leave when they hit maintance (ahem, I was one of them and look what happened!) . Its so nice to see you around still.
hahahahha..losing track of the days..happens to me regularly!!!
Hope you manage to get some YOU time soon!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 07-26-07, 09:19 PM LMJ-No I definitely won't let it turn into two weeks. I start to feel so sluggish when I don't workout. I got back to it today w/o any problems. I went straight after work.
Bell-I know it. Oh my goodness sometimes I feel like I'd lose my head it if wasn't attached. This weekend is definitely dedicated to ME...ME...ME.
Great day today and so glad that it is Thursday. I made it to the gym today and had a great workout. I stayed a little over an hour which I felt was sufficient. Well, I am in the middle of Big Brother right now, so I gotta jet.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (Bike 12 min)
Ab/Sides (Crunches 120)
Legs (Prone Leg Curls 4x15)
Hip Abduction (Inward & Outward 3x20 each)
Cardio (Elliptical 30 min)
Kelly,
I bet when you realized that today was Thursday that really put your mind at ease. Great job on the workout today, that's awesome. After you warm up on the treadmill, do you also do some kind of stretching or just right into your weight training? I have been stretching after I warm up, but I wondering if I shuld do it before or at the end of my workout.
hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 07-28-07, 12:37 AM Katherine-You are going to think horribly of me, but I don't stretch...AT ALL...EVER. Well, every once in a while I do. It is something that I have never really learned to do. I will mostly likely do it at home before I get on the TM, but hardly ever at the gym. All thru high school and afterwards, I have never been a stretcher. The bad part is that I know I should and I know it will catch up w/ me in my later years or one day I will eventually injure myself. I really need to start, though. That is an area I need to discipline myself in.
Well, today was another pretty good day. I got up and made breakfast and had some coffee. I did some laudry and headed to the gym. I also got back and went to see a client this evening and went to visit my family. I put in some applications online tonight and finished another load of laundry. Oh yeah, I got a call today from a community college that I applied to a long time ago. It was months ago and I was completely surprised. I have an interview on Wednesday for the Faculty Intern Position. I will be teaching/lecturing one of the Criminal Justice courses, which is what my Master's Degree is in. Well, wish me luck.
Gym Stats:
Cardio (TM 20 minutes)
Abs/Sides (Crunches 200)
Back toning (3x15)
Arm toning (Dips 3x15)
Cardio (StairMaster 12 minutes)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 20 minutes)
Kelly,
I really like how you always write in exactly what you do at the gym. I think I'm going to start doing that too. Sounds like you were pretty busy today, great job on getting everything done. Good luck with the interview that's totally awesome.
much love to ya!
Katherine
Good luck with the interview Kelly..i am sure you will do great!!!
criminal justice sounds like a very interesting thing to get your Masters in!
Have a great weekend my friend.
hugs bell :)
lovemyjeep 07-28-07, 12:30 PM Good luck on the interview! Sounds interesting. I see your back to your workaholic self. I can't wait to get into the mentality that working out is fun LOL. I just haven't gotten there yet. I used to love it then after my back injury I couldn't do it anymore. Now, I look at it as a chore.
Keep it up, your doing great!!
stickn2it 07-28-07, 08:30 PM Sorry not a whole lot of time right now, bout to head out of the door. I will post more later or tomorrow. Just want to get my exercise stats in. Had a very busy day, so I didn't do much, but I did do something.
Exercise:
Cardio (30 min TM)
Abs/Sides (60 Crunches)
Hi Kelly
I try to always stay prepared w/ a bag in the car because then I don't have a reason not to go That is what I need to do, but with FOOD. Thanks for the tip :)
My family situation often calls me out the door right now - no time to stop and eat first, so I need to keep some healthy bars and such in the car.
Best wishes for your interview :D
lovemyjeep 07-30-07, 11:54 AM Your doing great! Keep it up. I don't think I could do 60 crunches right now LOL, but I'll get there!! I want that thing called "RED" but its over 100 bucks for something I could do for free. Like Beth said, I too need to be prepared with FOOD. When we are on the go its hard to find the "right" thing to eat. Too many fast food establishments.
Take care
stickn2it 07-30-07, 05:14 PM Thanks for all the well wishes for the job interview. I am really excited about the interview and the opportunity to get the interview. If it all works out and is God's will, I will get it, but if not, then I know God has something else planned for me.
So, so, tired this morning. I didn't make it in to work until about 830 this morning. I was supposed to be here at 6. I don't know what was going on. Actually, yes I do, I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I tossed and turned a lot until I fell asleep about 1, and then the next thing I knew it was 430...it came so fast. I am heading to the gym immediately after work to get my workout in. I didn't go yesterday, so today I have to get back with it. Well, I better get back to work.
stickn2it 07-30-07, 09:58 PM Okay, so I really wasn't feeling the gym today after work, but I made myself go...so proud of that. Once I got in there and got going it was great, but I guess because it was a Monday and it had already been a dragging day, I didn't feel like it. I am glad that I sucked it up and went.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (bike 12 min)
Abs/Sides (crunches = 200)
Toning Arms (lat pull downs 3x20)
Toning Back (3x15)
Cardio (Stairmaster 15 min)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 20 min)
Well, I am off for now. I have to run to my mom's house...something I wasn't planning to do, but hopefully I will pop in and out and get back home. I am hoping to take an Advil PM and hit the sack at a decent hour tonight.
Kelly,
Sorry to hear that you had a sleepless night the other night. Great work on getting to the gym. That's good that you went to bed early last night. I hope you plenty of rest.
hugs,
Katherine
lovemyjeep 07-31-07, 11:13 AM Those sleepless nights are so hard!! Great job on getting that workout in anyway. I hope you start to get some sleep.
stickn2it 08-01-07, 08:00 AM On the sleep thing. I think I am going to make an appt. w/ my dr. to see if I can get something to help me sleep. I do get sleep, but I don't get "good" sleep. I still wake up as if I didn't sleep enough...despite how many hours I get. I don't know I need to check into it. I just want to wake up feeling rested. This morning has been good though. I came in early and actually got up when the clock went off.
My interview is today (this evening) so I am working half a day. I am excited to see what the position is all about. I have a couple questions already jotted down.
Exercise yesterday was light, but I did do something (30 Min on TM and crunches on ab ball)
Well, let me get to work. The day will go by fast.
lovemyjeep 08-01-07, 11:07 AM Good luck with the interview!
I know what you mean about just feeling rested when you wake up. I am on sleeping meds because of that and sometimes I still don't feel completely rested when I wake up. I was on Lunesta for a while and it was really good. It just got too expensive. Now, that I'm on a generic form of a sleeping pill (I don't know the name..its a shame) I don't get the full sleep, but I do sleep, so I use it. So, seeing a dr. is probably a good idea. You don't want to be wore down.
Good work on the "light" excersize!!
kristen23 08-01-07, 12:00 PM Kelly!
Hey lady, how are you? Having some restless nights I see... I think seeing a doctor is a great idea. Since, how we sleep affects our waking lives so much...
I love your "light" exercise. That'd be pretty standard for me! Have a great day!!!
-kristen
I'm sorry to hear about your sleep problems. I have those sometimes. They usually go away after a few weeks, but sometimes not. I've never been to the doctor for it. I'll be interested in what they have to say. I hope that you get some relief, though. You need to sleep enough to work out like you do.
I'm sending you positive vibes for your interview today. Knock them dead. Let us know how that goes. Take care.
stickn2it 08-02-07, 07:58 AM LMJ-I am considering a dr. I just worry about getting addicted to anything, but I am sure there are meds that you take as needed and not every single night. I just need to get some "good" rest.
Kristen-Hey girlee, glad to see you back. I always enjoy when you stop by. How are things w/ you? Yeah, I do need the rest because I can definitely see how it affects our awake lives. Sometimes I am dragging so much.
CFJ-As usual, thanks for the support and the vibes. I am hoping that the restlessness will go away soon. I think it is because I have been doing so much over these last few weeks. I have literally been working hard on both my FT and PT jobs and trying to work out religously. My weekends have actually been busy or work related as well. I think I may just need to chill some.
Well, my interview was yesterday. It was a bit stressful because I couldn't find the place and had to run errands before the interview. I made it on time, but by the time I left I had a huge headache for the rest of the night. I did sleep fairly well, though, once I got home and ate and took some meds. I think the interview just went "ok"...I don't feel like I left the panel impressed, but we will see. It will be a great opportunity, but if it is offered, there is a lot to think about. I will keep you all posted.
stickn2it 08-02-07, 08:43 PM Pretty great day today. We had a luncheon for the July/August Birthdays in the office, so we all got to leave the office and go out to eat for lunch. I did the most awesome thing. We went to this really great country kitchen that has the best homemade hamburgers and onion rings. Anywho, I called ahead and asked the manager if she would mind if I brought my own food into the restaurant. She said that I could, so on the way I stopped by Subway and grabbed a healthy lunch and brought it in. I was so very proud of myself. I don't always do that. I love that place and every once in a while I treat myself to the burger and onion rings, but today I just felt like being disciplined. Way to go me!!
Right after work I headed to the gym for my workout. I got in a real good sweaty one, doing cardio and abs. Well, I gotta hit the tub before Big Brother comes on I will post more later on.
Gym Stats:
Cardio (20 min/elliptical)
Cardio (15 min/stairmaster)
Cardio (15 min/TM)
Abs/Sides (Crunches 160)
stickn2it 08-04-07, 04:44 PM Great Saturday so far, and my family has plans to go to the casino tonight for my sister's birthday. We are going to Louisiana, as there are no casinos in Texas. I am looking forward to it. It is just going to be the girls. My mom, two sisters, and me. We are shipping the kids elsewhere .
Well, I got up this morning and fixed breakfast and headed to the gym. I had an incredible workout today. I worked out for about an hour and 20 minutes. I also got stopped by the cops on the way home for speeding X-(. I can't be too mad because they are only doing their jobs. I got a citation for not changing my address on my driver's license, no ticket for speeding, so that's a plus. Well, I am going to post my gym stats and get to some other journals.
Gym Stats:
Warm up (12 min on bike)
Toning Arms (Chest Press 3x20)
Toning Arms (Chest Pulls 3x20)
Toning Back (3x15)
Abs/Sides (Crunches 160)
Cardio (Elliptical 30 mins)
Cardio (TM Running 15 mins)
stickn2it 08-05-07, 07:31 PM Protein is kinda sucky today, but overall not a bad day so far. I got a late start because we didn't make it back until after three, so I didn't get to sleep until after 4. I did wake up and make it to the gym today though. I had an incredible workout...a great way to start the week off.
I have to work both jobs tomorrow so I know I won't make it to the gym, but I may be able to do something when I make home tomorrow evening. Well, I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Here are my exercise stats.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (bike 12 min)
Toning Back (4x15)
Toning Legs (hip abduction [inward] 4x15)
Toning Legs (hip abduction [outward] 4x15)
Toning Legs (prone leg curls 4x15)
Toning Abs (ab ball 4x15)
Cardio (stairmaster 22 minutes)
Cardio (crosstraining elliptical 22 minutes)
Kelly,
Great job at the gym today. sounds like you really worked up quite a sweat. Do you find that toning your abs with a ball to be easier then laying down on a mat?
Hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 08-07-07, 10:14 PM Slept in this morning because of a huge migraine. I was supposed to be at work for 6 and didn't get in until 9. My migraine was killing me. I took something and got back in the bed and slept a little longer. Work was busy today. I had a lot to get done and it went by fast. After work I headed straight to the gym for my workout.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (Bike 12 min)
Toning Arms (Low Rows 3x15)
Toning Back (3x25)
Toning Abs (Crunches 160)
Cardio (Upright Spinning Bike 10 min)
Cardio (Elliptical Machine 30 min)
Well, big brother is on and I need to finish wrapping things up for the night, so I can get to bed. Later.
K-thanks for the support. I usually use the ab ball or this crunch machine at the gym. I definitely feel it on the ab ball. I don't have to do nearly as many on the ab ball before I start to feel it.
Hi Kelly.
Good for you on not letting that migraine get the better of you. sounds like it must have passed if you made it to work and to the gym..good going.
Hope you are having a great week.
hugs bell :)
Kelly,
Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that you had a migraine. I hope your feeling better now. Great job on the workout today. Your doing so great with your workouts, you really inspire me. Thanks for answering my question about the ab ball. I think I might give that a try or start using the crunch machine.
hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 08-08-07, 12:37 PM Thanks for the support ladies. I really appreciate it. Well, I just thought I would pop in briefly between assignments at work. I am about to start on something else. Yes, the migraine was killer, but it did go away after I took some meds and got back in bed for another 30-40 minutes. I made it in to work early this morning. I have to make up some of that time from yesterday. Well, I am going to quickly try to get to some other journals.
Kelly,
I'm glad to hear that your feeling better.
hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 08-09-07, 01:13 PM Katherine-thanks. I am feeling much better, and today is my last day at work for the work week, so I am really good.
Well, good news. I am one of the finalists for the faculty position that I interviewed for last week. I was very surprised to get that message. My next interview (with the dean and president) is on August 16th...next Thursday. I am still unsure as to whether or not I will take it if it is offered, but I definitely will enjoy the opportunity. God will do what's best. Well, I better get back to work.
lovemyjeep 08-09-07, 01:19 PM Migraines are the worst!! I'm glad your feeling better. Good luck with the interview. I'm sure you'll knock them off their feet. What exactly will you be doing if you get/take the job. Sorry if you've already written it...I don't have alot of time to skim through.
stickn2it 08-09-07, 09:17 PM Alex-I will be in an intern for the first two semesters. I will sit in on 2 lectures observing, and then teaching two classes. The pay is pretty great and the opportunity is awesome. If it is meant to be, it will come to pass. Hopefully I will do well on the interview.
In the middle of Big Brother, so this will be short, but I went to the gym after work today and had a killer workout. I mean sweat poured.
Gym Stats:
Warm-Up (8 min on bike)
Toning Legs (Prone Leg Curls 4x15)
Toning Legs (Leg Press 4x15)
Toning Back (3x20)
Toning Abs (3x20 Ab ball)
Cardio (Stairmaster 30 min)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 15 min)
Kellie,
Oh my gosh, that's totally awesome news about the job. I'm so happy for you. I'll be thinking good thoughts that everything works out for you. Great job on the exercises today.
hugs,
Katherine
lovemyjeep 08-11-07, 12:24 PM Did the interview go well? As you said if its meant to be it will. It sounds interesting though.
Can you believe how Big Brother is this year?? I can't believe how some people are acting in that house. I don't know if I could keep my hands to myself. LOL. j/k. I don't know who to root for because everytime I say I like that person, they end up lying and deceiving but I guess thats the way the game is supposed to be played. I don't know.
Well I hope you have a great weekend.
stickn2it 08-11-07, 03:07 PM Katherine-thanks for the support. I am excited. The interview will be on the 16th. I purchased a new suit yesterday. I needed one anyway. I think it is great and my mom actually likes it. She has a difference of opinion when it comes to my taste, but she likes the suit. I have to spend this weekend finding shoes. Oh yeah...the suit is a whopping size 6. YIPPIE!! I was very surprised.
Alex-Yes, BB is crazy this year. I am with you on who to go for. They are all so coniving and deceitful. I kinda like Jameka, so she maybe one that I root for. The interview hasn't happened yet. It will be on the 16th. I will definitely keep you all posted. I was surprised that I made it this far. I really didn't think I left the interview the other week w/ a good impression, but they are calling me back, so who knows.
At home workout:
Cardio (40 min on TM)
Toning Arms (Push-ups on ab ball 3x15)
Toning Abs (Floor & Ab Ball 160)
Toning Legs (Wall Sits 4x20 seconds)
Toning Arms (Free Weights 4x15 each arm)
lovemyjeep 08-11-07, 07:53 PM What was the interview for last week? Yes, I'm nosey LOL.
I like Jameka too. At first, she was my favorite because she flew so low on the radar, I thought she was playing a good game. Then she took Jen off the block and I didn't like her as much. I haven't decided who I'm going for this year. LOL, its been one or the other every time it comes on.
I see your still working out even at home. Thats great!! Keep up the good work!
stickn2it 08-12-07, 05:38 PM LMJ-Yeah, I can't make it to the gym everyday, plus it is a drive (about 30 min), so I still use some workout stuff at home. Oh the interview last week was for the same thing. It was the first interview and then I found out I was a finalist and will now interview before the dean and president of the community college. No, you're not nosey. I love sharing w/ you all.
I like Jameka as well, but I am just not enjoying BB as much as I was earlier. I think this whole America's Player has something to do with it.
Well, woke up a little late today and had some breakfast and coffee before heading to the gym. The b/f and I went shoe shopping last night so that I could find some shoes to go w/ my new suit for Thursday. They are excellent. I think they match perfectly. After shopping, we had dinner at the Olive Garden and it was great. I love that place, but don't eat there that much...DISCIPLINE. I guess I allow myself to go about every 4-6 months or so. I am not giving it up completely. That would be absurd, but I have to eat there in moderation.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (10 min on bike)
Toning Arms (Triceps 3x18)
Toning Arms (Low Row 4x18)
Toning Abs/Sides (Crunches 160)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 27 min)
Cardio (Stairmaster 23 min)
Kelly,
I love the Olive Garden. I could go their and just eat salad and breadsticks. I think that's a great idea that you only go their 4-6 months or so, that's also what I do too. Great job on the gym today.
hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 08-14-07, 06:41 PM Katherine-thanks for the support. I love it too, as if you can't tell, but I do try to be sensible and reasonable about limiting how often I go there.
I have been away from the office for the last two days...doing a training for my full-time job. It has been pretty grueling. I never really get anything out of these because nothing is really geared toward my discipline. Well, once again I am drained today, so I will be taking a short nap and will try and workout a little later. Maybe I can muster 30 min on the TM. Wish me luck.
enjoy your nap Kelly.
i didnt realise that your gym is a 30 minute drive. that is real discipline to go as often as you do even with that amount of travel time!
hope you get your treadmill time in later.
hugs bell :)
Good luck with the job interview! I like that you got yourself a nice suit and some new shoes. You are going for it! Good for you.
I have problems eating at places like Olive Garden too. Sometimes I take half of it home to eat for another meal, and other times I just can't help myself and I clean my plate. It is so difficult if you order something that you really like. Even their Ceazar salad packs a wallop, calorie-wise. You have to be careful there. Thinking of it as a special treat is good too. Wonderful idea about only going places like that once per month.
Knock them dead on the interview in a couple of days. Until then, keep up the great work, and have a great week!
stickn2it 08-14-07, 09:52 PM Bell-Yep it is a 30 min drive. It is actually the closest and nicest one around, so I guess that means I just have to make the sacrifice. I did get to get in a quick nap before the phone rang, and then I was up. I had the munchies X-( when I woke up, but at least I did manage to workout today.
CFJ-Thanks for the support. I will keep you all posted. My interview is on Thursday. I also found out today that I have been summoned for Federal Grand Jury...which I am elated about. Some people hate it, but you know me...I love crime, justice, courts, law, and all that good stuff. Plus it will allow me to get out of my office again at the end of the month. It begins on the 28th. They say to prepare for at least 2 days and/or a trial. I may not get selected, but at least I get two days out of it. And, grand jury here pays good money per day and the travel. It is about 45 to an hour to the Federal Courthouse. I am excited.
Well, I just got back from a walk and run in the neighborhood. I waited until around 7:10 and it was still hot, muggy, and nasty. I worked up a real good sweat. And happy that I didn't come across any loose dogs. I may start doing that more often. I know I have the TM, but that just bores me to pieces at times. I like to get out in the air.
Workout:
Cardio (walking/running 35 min)
Toning Abs (ab ball)
Kelly,
Hope your feeling better. Great job on the walk today.
hugs,
Katherine
stopping in to wish you well for your interview tomorrow..you will be great i am sure!
i think thats cool about jury duty.
Fagan gave you some great advice about spin class. it really is about you challenging yourself. you can go as easy or as hard as you like. i was intimidated at first thinking that it would be too fast paced and intense for me but only you know how much resistance etc you have on your own bike. Give it a try i am sure you would love it!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 08-16-07, 04:13 PM Katherine-I am feeling much better and even got in a walk yesterday...about 32 minutes. I wasn't a whole lot, but at least it was something.
Bell-Thanks for the support. The interview was this morning and I think I did very well. They will inform us today of a hiring decision. So, I will be back posting more when I find out. Either way, whether it's good news or bad, I will let you all know.
I wasn't sure if I wanted the position or not, but I am sure that I will take it if it is offered to me. I have made up my mind that I do want it. Now we just have to see if they offer it to me.
will check back later to see what the decision is..i have a good feeling about it!!!! Glad that you felt it went well.
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 08-18-07, 04:52 PM ARRGGGX-( still no answer yet. Thursday afternoon, all the HCC campuses closed due to the weather, so there was no phone call. I didn't hear anything yesterday, and when I tried to contact their offices, no one was in....so I am waiting I guess until Monday.
Thursday night:
40 min on TM
Friday:
Nothing
Today Gym Stats:
Warm-up (10 min)
Cardio (35 min on elliptical)
Cardio (15 min on stairmaster)
Ab/Sides Toning (180)
Just got in from the gym and trying to decide if I am going to go meet my cousin for some shopping. Seems like a good idea.
lovemyjeep 08-18-07, 06:39 PM Patience my friend, patience (like I'm one to talk). Hopefully you'll get the call on Monday. Hope everything is good for you!!
Kelly,
Sorry that you still hadn't heard any word yet. I"m crossing my fingers for ya. Great job on the gym today.
~ Katherine
thats a bummer that you have to wait Kelly..but we are all waiting right along with you.
Have a great weekend!
Did you end up going shopping??? sounds like fun to me!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 08-20-07, 08:48 AM Thanks for the support everyone. I know I definitely have to work on my patience. If I was as disciplined w/ my patience as I am with my work outs, I would be a lot less stressed. :) I am trying, though. I am hoping that I hear something today. I will definitely let you all know. You're like my family in here.
I did go meet my cousin for shopping on Saturday. I bought to pairs of shoes and some perfume (Marc Jacobs). I have been wanting that fragrance for about a year now and finally bought some. I also was going to buy some pants (SIZE 4). I couldn't believe it. I did find the right cut though, so I passed. I just can't believe I got in a size 4.
Well, yesterday I got in some good exercise and the b/f helped. I am so happy that he is willing to do and try new things, and just have fun.
Exercise (Sunday):
Abs/sides (Ab Ball 80)
Tennis w/ the b/f (1 hour and 10 min)
We had such a great time playing tennis and it was so much fun. We didn't even realized we had been playing that long, and we were both pouring w/ sweat when we left the courts. I am definitely going to do that more often.
Well, I better get to work. I came in late today because I couldn't drag myself out of the bed. I am thinking of changing my work hours. I am always staying late to make up time anyway, so I might as well make it official. Well. I will post more later.
lovemyjeep 08-20-07, 12:31 PM We like to play tennis too. We have some friends we play with occassionally. Hopefully you'll hear something on the job front today...I'm hoping for you. Congratulations on getting into a size 4!! That must have felt awesome!! Good job.
Have a good day!
stickn2it 08-20-07, 01:26 PM Okay, you all are the first to know. I DIDN'T GET THE JOB at the community college. I just found out not too long ago. I am fairly bummed, but I won't stay down for long, but for right now I want to mope...just a little while...then I will pick myself back up.:(
Kelly,
that's wonderful news about the pants. I'm so happy for you. You are such an inspriation for me. Great job with the exercising yesterday. That was nice that you and your BF played a game of tennis together.
hugs,
Katherine
sorry you didnt get the job Kelly. i sure there will be other good opportunities that arise for you soon.
dont stay down for long.
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 08-21-07, 09:58 AM Katherine-yeah, he has been real great w/ supporting me. He works at night during the week, so I usually go to the gym, but on the weekends, I try to come up w/ something for us to do together, so the tennis was fun for both of us. I think I am feeling it today.
Bell-I am back up today. I got better toward the end of yesterday. There was no workout, but a nice bubble bath and some margarita...YUM,YUM. I am doing good, though, so thanks. You are so amazing.
Okay, so I am over not being selected for the position and have picked myself up. I got good rest last night after my bubble bath and margarita. I actually woke up this morning on time and made it to work on time. Today after work I am headed to the gym to get a workout in. I am planning to do mostly cardio...maybe a little tummy workout. The scale is up a couple notches...so I need to tone that down. My eating lately has been a little wacked because of stress/emotions, so I am back on track today....whew...now I got to calm down those extra notches that the scale is showing.
stickn2it 08-21-07, 09:35 PM Gym Stats:
10 min warm-up (bike)
25 min cardio (stairmaster)
35 min cardio (elliptical)
glad to hear that you are feeling better..a bubble bath and a margarita sounds like a great pick me up to me :)
good job on your workout..the scale doesnt stand a chance!
hugs bell :)
If the community college there is like the ones around here, it may have almost been impossible for you to get the job. Due to budget crunches and legal/political mumbo-jumbo, they often don't replace people that retire or quit from the college. After a few months or a year of the job just not getting done or being piled onto 4-5 other people that drop the ball (because it is not their main job - and they were already stretched to the limit time-wise), they eventually decide that they need to hire a temporary and part-time employee to "discover if a position is warranted". This usually happens after 2-3 other people quit due to being over-worked, or a class or 2 that is required to graduate is missed for a semester or year because the school lacks either the teaching or administrative staff to offer the class at all that year. Forcing kids to stay in college another year because they can't offer the class really makes people and especially parents angry.
A year after the new temporary person is hired, they gradually end up working full-time at an hourly rate, and the political/legal mumbo-jumbo kicks in again because that person is not getting any full-time bennefits, even though they are working full time. So...for further legal/political reasons they just can't switch their job status. No. That would make sense. The law forces the university to post the job like it is brand new, 15-30 people interview for the job, and almost always the one that has already been doing the job WITHOUT bennefits for the last year is the most qualified.
It keeps the HR people on campus extra busy doing 2-3 interviews instead of just one to fill the position, makes sure that state legislature, college trustees, and local college administrators know that someone is trying to save money by at least trying to do more with less people, and allows them to spend the maximum amount of money possible to fill the damn position. Your tax dollars at work.
Sorry for the hijack. I've seen this in the university systems for 4 separate states. It is so...common and stupid.
So, keep your chin up, and keep looking for a new job. The right one will come along when you least expect it, and you will probably have to choose between 2-3 "dream" jobs the same month. That is how these things go.
Way to go with the food and exercise, as usual. Have a great week!
stickn2it 08-22-07, 10:32 PM Bell-yes the drink and bubble bath were definitely needed. I feeling much better and actually even better than before the job situation.
CFJ-thanks for hijacking...literally. I appreciate the insight. I like to learn from what others already know. And, you are absolutley right...the right job will come when it's time and it will be absolutely perfect...hands down, no questions asked.
Today was an incredibly crazy day. My mind is swamped w/ thoughts right now. The day has been hectic and sad. I lost one of my co-workers today. When he didn't show up for work we found out late this afternoon that he passed away. He was found dead in his home. He lived alone and the police went to his house based on a suspicion that something was wrong, and boy was it. It has definitely put a lot in perspective and given me a lot to think about. It is weird that he is gone and we won't ever see this man again...never in his classroom, never teaching again. I just still can't really believe it. With all that said, I did manage to get in a little workout to destress.
Workout:
Cardio (40 min on TM -- walking & running)
Toning Abs (75 crunches on ab ball)
Well, I am ready for a hot bath and bed. Later.
thats so sad Kelly. i am really sorry that you and your co-workers have lost your colleague.
i have been dealing with something similar at work this week and it really does make you think about things and puts life in perspective somewhat. we really should appreciate everyday we are blessed with.
hugs bell :)
Kelly,
I'm so sorry to hear about your co-worker. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Great job on the workout today.
Katherine
stickn2it 08-23-07, 10:44 AM Thanks a bunch ladies. Today has started off pretty good. I did a lot of thinking/reflecting last night and today. I got up fairly well this morning and was again on time for work...3rd day in row.
On a personal note. I am having a few personal (femine) issues right now. Some things that keep re-occuring and I am not sure why. It is the first time in 26 years I have experienced this and I am getting a little concerned. I don't quite know what to make of it. I do have a Dr. appt in September, to get this checked out.
Well, I better get back to work. Later.
stickn2it 08-25-07, 05:04 PM Okay, got some catching up to do in here. Let's see.
Thursday's exercise:
Swimming (awesome workout...some laps/some treading)
Friday:
Nothing. I had a seminar to attend for my part-time job, but my eating was really well yesterday.
Today:
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (bike 10 min)
Toning Legs (Prone Leg Curl 4x15)
Toning Back/Sides (4x15)
Toning Abs/Sides (Crunches = 220)
Cardio (Stairmaster 27 min)
Cardio (Crosstraining Elliptical 20 min)
Other than that, nothing really has been going on on my end. Same old thing. The co-worker that passed away, his daughter sent for his body and he will be brought back to Florida, so none of us will get to attend any type of viewing or funeral. That's kinda sad. Our principal mentioned doing a memorial type service thing for him. That would be better than nothing.
Went to the mall yesterday...got a couple items. Two very important things...pants and bermuda shorts...SIZE 4!!!! That was even more of an incentive for me to workout today. I kept thinking to myself "girl you are a size 4." That made me work even harder.
Well, I got a handful of things to get done before this evening, so I jetting for now. Later.
stickn2it 08-26-07, 05:09 PM Today has gotten off to a good start. I slept in today until about 10, then got up and began my day. I have gotten some house work done and some errands around town. I even brushed my dog out. I have a little more house work to do, but the day has been rather relaxing so far.
Exercise wise, I have done a few crunches (75 so far) to get that out of the way before this evening. The b/f and I are going to play tennis again this afternoon. He is being so great about helping me workout and he says he enjoys it. He is actually the one who brought it up. It is so hot, that we have to wait until around 7ish to go out there, so that gives me time to get things ready for the work week and relax.
Yogi-girl 08-26-07, 05:42 PM Hi! It's been a LONG time since I've visited your journal, and I'll start by saying I'm SO sorry you lost your co-worker...that is awfull!
Then I have to say>....AWESOME job maintaining....I could use ANY insight you have on HOW you have maintained for the better part of a year....I always fall into the trap of...once I lose...I gain back...now, in the past i've gained it all back plus some...where this time I stopped regaining and now I'm losing again...regained about half though...which isn't good at all...but still better than gaining it all back...I have a suspicion that your going to say exercise is the key to keeping it off...lol, BUT, if there is more to it than that...especially anything mentally...PLEASE do share, I would SO appreciate it! ;)
Take care, and keep up the awesome work...I'll be in those size fours again before long too darn it...lol, i just need to stay in them for more than five minuites before i put weight back on!
stickn2it 08-26-07, 10:37 PM Over an hour of tennis tonight w/ Brandon. Excellent exercise and a pouring of sweat.
Lori-I would glad to shed some light. You are right exercise is the key, and I still count calories, use portion control methods, and ofcourse measuring my food. I will be glad to help you out.
stickn2it 08-29-07, 08:22 AM Been MIA for a couple of days, but back at it this morning. Another day of work and looking forward to tomorrow being Thursday and I'll have a long weekend because of the holiday on Monday. I am not sure what I am going to do w/ all my time, but hopefully I will get into something.
Haven't worked out in two days, but I am headed to the gym this afternoon after work.
lovemyjeep 08-29-07, 10:04 AM Just poppin' in to see how your doing. That would be nice to have a Memorial Service for your co-worker. I do give you my condolenses. I miss playing tennis we haven't played in months. I like it til I'm there then I wanna quit sometimes. lol Come Fall we'll probably play more because it will be cooler. Its been so hot and humid lately its hard to breath. Hope you make it to the gym today!!
Have a good one!
I layed off working out for a couple of days too. Sometimes you just need to rest and recover. Keep up the great work, and listen to your body. I hope that you have a great week!
stickn2it 08-29-07, 04:00 PM Alex-yeah it is extremely hot down here. We usually have to wait until close 7 to go out and play. It has been so enjoyable and we really work up a good sweat. It has been rainy the last couple of days, which is probably why I have been so sluggish and tired when I get off. Today I am going to have to drag myself kicking and screaming to the gym because it is raining now. Hopefully it will slow up by the time I get off. I hate to drive that way in the pouring rain. We'll see
CFJ-I guess I needed the rest. I have been going pretty strong lately. I got in some naps when I got off of work the last couple of days, and was still able to go to sleep fairly well at night, so I guess I have just been exhausted...keeping up w/ two jobs and work. Thanks for the support.
Well, I just popped in briefly because I was getting a little sleepy doing the same routine at work. Well, I woke up a little, so I better get back to it.
stickn2it 08-29-07, 10:34 PM Gym today was good. I got in:
10 min warm-up (bike)
Abs/Sides (abs 120)
Lower Back/Sides (4x15)
35 min cardio (elliptical)
stickn2it 08-30-07, 09:33 AM Yay, Yay, Yay...last day of the work week and the beginning of a long weekend. I am so excited. No plans, but definitely won't be at work, so that is great. I plan to get in some good gym time. I went yesterday after work and am going again today after work.
We are having a retirement luncheon today at work for two ladies who are retiring. The food everyone brought looks great, but I brought my own lunch. I know I could allow myself to have to some, but now I am at the point where I look at whether or not it is worth it, and I just don't think so. I brought myself a salad and a few pieces of leftover sushi fom last night. I love that stuff. I go to a store where they make it fresh and it has the nutrition facts on the package, so that helps out. There is even one made w/ brown rice that is absolutely delicious. It has 40 cals per piece, which isn't too terrible.
Well, I am at work now and incredibly bored. I have nothing to do, but am about to read a book. I will probably log back in throughout the day. Later.
lovemyjeep 08-30-07, 06:17 PM I've never tried sushi, I'm afraid lol. Lacey says its not bad. Glad to hear you made it to the gym. You know you are my inspiration!!
stickn2it 08-30-07, 09:54 PM LMJ-I am glad to know that I inspire you. I think you are pretty dang awesome yourself. You know we have a lot more in common that just DT, dieting, and exercise. I experience some of the same things you do. I think you are aware of what I am talking about.
I worked out at home today while BB8 was on. I did some walking and running on the TM. I did a total of 44 minutes of cardio...not too shabby. I am going to begin working on my running again. I came across a 5K in October that I want to try and do, and Brandon has signed on to do it with me, so it should be fun.
Kelly,
Sorry I haven't visited the past few days. BTW I like the new avatar picture. Great job on going to the gym, i'm so proud of you. I have to give it to ya bringing in your own food for a lucheon is really smart.
hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 08-31-07, 05:58 PM Katherine-No sweat girl. I go MIA all the time. I am probably the worst/most neglectful when it comes to posting and getting around to others' journals. Yeah, I just had to bring in my own food. No one ever brings in anything remotely healthy, so I kinda have to do my own thing. They all think I am crazy, but I do allow myself to splurge, but I make sure it is worth it.
Okay, got to sleep in today because of my day off. I went to the gym and really kicked some butt. I am feeling pretty great.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (10 min TM walking)
Cardio (26 min TM running)
Cardio (17 min Stairmaster)
Toning Abs (Ab Ball 6x15)
Toning Back/Sides (3x15)
Toning Arms (Dips 3x15)
Toning Arms (Low Row 3x15)
Toning Arms (Tricep Press 3x15)
A nice confidence-building workout on a day off from work...how nice! Good to see that you are doing so well. I have to bring my own food to work events too. Everyone at my work is still skinnier than I am (field biologists tend to be thin - it is all of the hiking), but they eat lots of fatty foods and consume massive amounts of beer and wine. I wish that I had their metabolism! Oh well...we have what we have, eh?
I hope that you ahve a great weekend. Do something fun!
stickn2it 09-01-07, 05:17 PM CFJ-Yeah, I have learned just to be satisfied w/ what I have (metabolism). We tend to appreciate things much more when we have to work at it. I am definitely appreciating my weightloss and what it has taken me to get here. Not too mention what it is taking to maintain. It is definitely a rewarding feeling of sorts for me.
Pretty good Saturday so far. It is has been relaxing. I've done some laundry, cleaning, reading, and working out. I got on the TM for my workout. I picked up a DVD last night and popped it in while on the TM. Before I knew it I had walked for 35 min and ran for 35 min...not bad for a Saturday.
Kelly,
Holy smokes, way to workout on Friday. Great job on being so productive yesterday. Sounds like you really got a lot done.
Hugs,
Katherine
lovemyjeep 09-02-07, 11:48 AM Great work on the Saturday workout!! Doesn't it feel good when you complete a good workout?! I wish my elliptical wasn't broken, I can still use it but its so loud the neighbors 3 streets over can hear it LOL. I still want Mike to check it out, but he said the bearings are busted. I'm thinking about after Christmas investing in a treadmill, would you suggest it? I loved my elliptical but I don't want to buy another one because of how quick this one broke. I had it less than a year when the bearings went.
Hope your having a relaxing, fun weekend!!
stickn2it 09-03-07, 08:21 PM Katherine-thanks for the support. Yes, I did have a productive day and it feels awesome. I am still relaxing from the weekend. I have enjoyed the weekend and this holiday so much, that I decided to take off tomorrow as well. I am not going to blow the day, though. I have some things planned.
LMJ-A TM is a great back-up plan when you don't feel like getting out. Depending on what kind you buy they will definitely last you. I've had mine for years, and before I got it, it belonged to my mother, so I know it has its age on it. I would love to purchase and ellilptical machine. I considered it last year for Christmas as a treat to myself, but then in November my computer crashed and that is what I ended up having to buy myself for Christmas. Maybe this year, right? I'll see about it.
Exercise today was rather light. I did some toning on my stomach and sides and went to play tennis for a little while...until it started raining. It was has been some rainy days down here lately. Well, overall all I got in a little under 20 min of playing time. I guess something is better than nothing.
Kelly,
Great job on the exercising today. Sorry that the rain cut your tennis game short. Hope your holiday was good.
Hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 09-06-07, 09:31 AM Katherine-I had a good weekend and holiday. Today is actually my first day back at work and my last day of the work week. Tuesday I took off and Wednesday I had jury duty, so I am back today.
Plans are to hit the gym after work today. I have my bag packed in the car. I did not get in any exercise yesterday, but Tuesday I got in 50 minutes of TM walking...worked up a real good sweat. I was turned between Big Brother and the US Open. Serena Williams was playing that night.
Well, since I only have one day of work this week, I better get to doing something.
stickn2it 09-06-07, 09:06 PM Warm-up (10 min bike)
Cardio (35 min elliptical)
Cardio (17 min cross trainer)
stickn2it 09-07-07, 06:39 PM Well, I am slightly under the weather today. Since about yesterday, I have been having this serious abdominal pain. I worked my way through it yesterday w/ a workout at the gym, but today is a "no go." I went to the store and got some medicine and am hoping that will work. Maybe I will be able to get back to the gym tomorrow.
stickn2it 09-09-07, 07:39 PM Wow, another brutal day at the gym. I went yesterday and today and have had some kick-butt workouts. I was tempted not to go today because of the extreme workout yesterday, but I managed to drag myself to the gym.
The weekend has been fairly laid back and a little boring. I have been battling a leaky pipe in the attic of my duplex. Extremely frustratingX-(.
I have pots, pans, cups, and tupperware all in the hallway trying to catch the water. They have been out twice since I noticed the leak on Wednesday, and nothing is working. I am about to call my landlord again. Something has got to get done.
hope that the abdominal pain has passed..it must have seeing as you have had such awesome workouts..what was causing it??? did you pull a muscle????
i hope you manage to get something sorted out with the leaky pipe..sounds like a hassle and the landlord def needs to get it fixed properly.
Hope you have a great week.
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 09-10-07, 10:44 PM Bell-thanks for stopping in. I have been horrible at keeping up w/ others' journals lately. Yes, my abdominal pain has ceased. I have no idea what was causing it, but it did go away and I was back at the gym Saturday.
Today was a rather peaceful day...considering it was Monday. It went over smoothly. I got some really good rest last night. I had worked out hard and even took an Advil PM, and sleep was good too me. I woke up on time and even made it to work on time. I decided to take the day off from the gym today. I wanted to give myself a break/rest. I will get back with it tomorrow. I have been going so hard that I don't want to experience burn out. I also was able to attend my niece's volleyball game tonight...which was exciting, and they won. HOORAY!! It was a home game and her second one since the school year started. This is her first year to play and she is on the A team. So, that was worth it to see her out there.
Well, I am about to get ready for bed. The b/f will call on his second break (at work) and then I usually nod off after speaking with him. My pipes are still leaking, but the "fix" is in the works. There is something in my attic that needs to be replaced. Well, I am off for now...toodles until next time.
Kelly,
sounds like you had a really nice day today. I also feel that taking a day off from the gym is good, because of burn out. Congratulations to your nieces on your volleyball match.
hugs,
katherine
stickn2it 09-11-07, 10:02 AM Katherine-thanks for stopping in. How've you been. Yeah, I definitely appreciated that break yesterday from the gym. It did me some good. I slept in a little longer this morning than planned but still made it work on time. I was a little rushed, which I hate, but I signed in and got my office before 6, so I was okay.
Today has gotten off to a good start. I have quite a busy day today. It will help make the day go by faster. I am heading to the gym after work today to get in a workout. Well, I better get back to work. Toodles until later...
stickn2it 09-11-07, 09:22 PM Wow, it has really starting pouring tonight. I didn't make it to the gym because I needed to come home and check on my a/c drips and empty containers. I am really getting tired of that. I did speak w/ someone about it and they are going to replace the entire a/c system. So, at least I see some light at the end of the tunnel.
I did get in a workout once I got home. I walked 2 miles on the TM. Something is better than nothing, right? Well, at least I think so. I go a good sweat going and burned a couple hundred calories. Well, I still have a pretty busy night and some tv show's I want to catch. I just realized the biggest loser was on and then I need to catch big brother.
Well, I am off for now. Toodles!!!
something is definately better than nothing Kelly!!!
i hope that dripping ac gets fixed soon..sounds like a royal pain in the butt.
lovemyjeep 09-12-07, 08:28 AM Hey sounds like you got some things going on as usual at that gym! I'm glad you decided to take a day and rest. Burnouts come so easily with anything not just working out. Anyway just wanted to check out how you were doing. ... Miss ya,
stickn2it 09-12-07, 02:56 PM Bell-the a/c is a pain, but I am dealing. I was surprised to know that they have to replace the whole thing. That is kinda awful for them because I know it can't come cheap, but I guess that is the down side of rental properties. I am just glad it is not coming out of my pocket.
Bell-I surely don't want to experience burnout. I try to limit myself and not go overboard. I want to have a relaxing workout and feel great after I am done, so I am trying to pace myself. Today I will hit the gym for a little workout.
Well, I better get back to work. Today has been exceptional. I woke up early and made it to work on time. I was up early enough to enjoy coffee in bed, doing some reading in my Bible and another devotional book. On top of that, I have only had 1.5 cups of coffee today. I am feeling pretty good. Well, I am off for now. I will post more later.
I took two rest days in a row off this week too. It felt great. I've seen a lot of people deal with exercise burnout, and one of the best cures is to introduce different activities for different times of the year, and have a mini-goal for each activity. Mine are outdoor bicycling (summer and fall), indoor spin and aerobic classes (winter), lifting weights (late-fall and early winter), and I may try to run a few 5 ks this year (between now and the holidays). Cross training not only keeps you from burning out, but prevents injuries as well. I used to burn out a lot more often when I used to just do the elliptical trainer and lift weights at the gym. Too boring to keep up with for a long while.
Keep up the great work. I hope that your tummy feels better. Take care.
stickn2it 09-13-07, 08:28 AM CFJ- I totally agree. Burnout can frequent my mind and when I don't watch it and get in the same routine over and over again. I try to mix it up as much as possible between home workouts, gym, walking/running in the neighborhood, swimming, and tennis. I think your mix up between seasons is a great idea. I have often tampered w/ bike riding lately. I do not own a bike, but am thinking about getting one.
Well, today is off to a glorious start. I woke up again at about 4:15, read the Bible some and meditated and reflected, had some coffee, watched what was going on w/ the weather in our area (Tropical Storm Humberto), and showered. I even had time to stop and get breakfast for the office. How great was I feeling? I feel like I am being molded and transformed into a much better person w/ the help of Christ. The outcome of the past two days has been incredible.
Well I got to the gym yesterday after work. Here are my stats for Wednesday.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (8 min on bike)
Abs/Sides (Crunches 165)
Cardio (25 min on cross training elliptical)
Cardio (17 min on stairmaster)
Well, I better get some work done. Post more later.
Kelly,
Totally sounds like your off to a wonderful start today. Okay I have to ask, did you set you alarm to wake up at 4:15am or did you just wake up? Wow sounds like you’ve found something really positive in your life. I think that’s great. If you don’t mind me asking, have you always been a religious person? Excellent work at the gym.
Hugs,
Katherine
stickn2it 09-16-07, 08:54 PM Katherine-Unfortunately I have to set my alarm clock. Otherwise, I would never get up. I have always been a church going person (brought up that way), but never really as spiritually into it as I am now. I am still a work in progress, but I am making every attempt to grow in it each and every day and moment of every day.
Missed a couple days on, but I am going to try to catch up to speed. I am in the middle of cooking dinner right now and attempting to watch the football game. I have already gotten a fair amount done today for this Sunday...Laundry, cooking, vacuuming out car, ironing, dishes. I would say I am off to a good start.
Yesterday's exercise was 20 min on TM and crunches on ab ball. Today I will get some tennis in w/ the bf when he gets off of work.
Got in a little under an hour of tennis this evening. Now I got to hit the tub for BB8 Finale.
Kelly,
How was your weekend? I hope everything went well. Great job on the exercising. You’re such great inspiration. All the chores you did yesterday I will be tacking today after work. Of course after I get home from the gym that is.
Hugs,
Katherine
lovemyjeep 09-17-07, 07:56 PM Kelly,
Dropping in to see how your doing and it looks like things are going well. Getting up at 4:15 am?!?!?! Are you crazy girl?? LOL My kids bought me a "Mothers Devotional Bible" I love it. It has places to write your favorite verses ect. We don't go to church but are full fledge Christians.
Hope you have a great evening.
stickn2it 09-17-07, 09:40 PM Thanks for the support, ladies. I am so glad that I am an inspiration to others.
Alex-Unfortunately yes!! 4:15 AM and boy does it come fast. I have to be at work for six, so the 4:15 gives me time to have 1 cup of coffee, read my Bible, take a shower, take the dog out, and get in the car. Lately I have noticed that it does some good to wake up and mentally and spiritually prepare myself for the day at hand.
Today was a pretty good day for a Monday. I was actually up and to work on time today. I was a little tired when I was reading my AM verses, but the shower woke me up. The day was pretty busy because the offenders had their job interviews. That is part of my job...to try and line up some employment opportunities before they are released from prison.
After work, I headed to the gym and got in a pretty good workout. All cardio today. This afternoon, I was getting way sleepy at work and had some chips, so it's a good thing that I made it to the gym. I hate when I cave in like that to junk food, but I am not going to beat myself up about it. Just gotta pick myself up and not let one little episode of the munchies get me down. I made it from the gym and came home and made a healthy dinner. Well, that's about it for me tonight. I am going to try and make it around to some other journals. Post more later.
Gym Stats:
Warm-up (10 min on bike)
Cardio (30 min on crosstraining elliptical)
Cardio (17 min on stairmaster)
Kelly,
Great job on the workout yesterday. I noticed that you do a different routine almost every night. Do you have a set schedule for what you do on which days? We all get the cravings from time to time. The trick is to not to let it get you down because that can only make you eat more junk food. Well at least that’s what happens to me. The point is that you got right back in their again and had a good healthy dinner.
Hugs - Katherine
stickn2it 09-20-07, 12:47 PM Thanks for the support, Katherine. I don't like to stay too routined and structured, so I just change things up and kinda do whatever really comes to me. Things have been so busy lately, I have not worked out since Monday, but I will go into all that later. Today I will try to at least get a walk in or something.
Things have been incredibly crazy lately, but I have not fallen off the face of the Earth. I will have to explain later, but I just wanted to pop in briefly.
nice to see you are still with us..life has a way of getting in the path of all good intentions..the gym has been sadly lacking in my life with the second job and study now..if only there were more hours in the day!
off to the gym now..will stop back later to see what has been happening with you.
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 09-21-07, 10:03 PM Bell-I know what you mean. If there were only more hours in the day. Wait, what am I saying; I'd probably find away to burn all that up too, and then still be wanting more hours in the day. I have gotten back into my routine today, even though it was still extremely busy. Eating and exercise have been great.
I have been working both jobs to the extreme lately. It has truely kept me busy, but I know I will be glad when the pay check comes in. Speaking of jobs...I have gotten another job. I will now be leaving the prison system and working with juveniles. I will be a Juvenile Probation Officer. I am so excited for this opportunity and have been praying for something to happen. I feel in my heart that I have made the right decision and am guided by God in this decision. I will still have my part-time job, but now be working full time with the probation department.
Next on my list...I have been incredibly busy lately because I have started the process of buying a home. I have been working w/ lenders, viewing houses, getting my ducks lined up, doing research, learning the terminology, etc. It is definitely hard. I am addicted to HGTV now :). This will be my first home. I am attempting to purchase it on my own, with the exception of some help from dad for closing costs. I am more than confident that I am ready for this step...what a huge step it is. I am definitely taking my time and trying to read up and research it as much as I can. So far I have done pretty good and shopped around for the best lender and interest rates and am now viewing houses. I am looking for my first little home that suits me and I think I have found the one. I have more questions and research to do on the home and the property, taxes, etc. Well, that's enough home talk for now.
Today, I had my day off, but still did work for my PT job, as well as went to the dr. (well woman's exam), and went in for my interview with the Probation Dept. Well, I am off for now. I will try/need to get around to other journals.
Exercise: This morning before starting my day, I walked a mile. [/I]
Thats very exciting all round Kelly.
cool about the new job prospects and especially cool about buying a house..
i am really exicted for you!
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 09-23-07, 10:21 PM Bell-thanks alot!! I am super excited. I know that sounded corny, but oh well, I can't help it. I have been hoping and praying for quite some time for new changes and it feels great to be embarking on this new journey. The new job will start next month, the house hunting is going to take a while, but I have gotten the process started and am learning the ropes.
The weekend has been pretty great. Yesterday the b/f took me out to celebrate my new job. We had a great time. We went to see Brave One at the movies, then met up with my cousin and her date for some bowling. Afterwards, we went to have dinner and came home. Today was laid back. I did some laudry, cooking, and cleaning. I also re-arranged my living room. Not quite sure if I like it or not, but it's different and I wanted some change in there. It looks pretty good, though. It is not your typical living room set up.
Exercise has been good. Yesterday, I worked on abs and did cardio on the TM. Tonight the b/f and I played tennis for about an hour, so my weekend workouts have been good...real sweat breakers.
hi Kelly.
you sound really excited about all the changes ahead.i am really thrilled for you!
Your weekend sounds great too..lots of exercise and some great time with the BF and friends. What was the movie like???havent heard of it here in Australia yet. who is in it???
well have a great week ahead!
hugs bell :)
Kelly,
Congrats on the new job. I know that you've been waiting for a really long time. I totally wish you the best of luck on this new journey in your life. How was the movie Brave One? i'm trying to think if I've heard of that one because it doesn't sound familar. I'm with you their. I like changing the looks of rooms myself. I think it's good to shake things up every once in a while. Great job on the exercising. Both at the gym and playing tennis, that's wonderful.
hugs,
Katheirne
stickn2it 09-25-07, 09:17 PM Thanks so much for the support...it means a lot. You are both so right, I have been waiting for quite some time for a change and now it is here. I am totally ready to embrace it and learn something new.
The Brave One stars Jodie Foster and Terrance Howard. Basically her fiance and her are mugged in Central Park and her fiance dies. She barely survives, and then goes on a rampage (killing spree) against the so-called "bad people" of New York, especially after the guys who did this to her. The police basically do nothing to help her, so she takes matters into her own hands.
Well, I had Federal Grand Jury today...I wasn't selected, which is fine because I have enough on my plate right now. Afterwards, I made it home and then hit the gym

stickn2it 09-29-07, 12:54 PM Katherine-thanks for the support. I am pretty excited myself and proud of myself. I know I am making the right decisions and being guided by God. I really need to get more disciplined in here, though. I have been so swamped lately, I have not gotten around to journals and am even neglecting my own. I am going to take some time today to piddle around the house and get around to journals.
Well, here's a typical Saturday for me. I just had some breakfast. I slept in longer than I planned to, but I am on the move now. I will probably get my workout in around the house, and then need to run some errands. I desperately need to go get my car cleaned and need to shop for my niece a b-day present. Her birthday is on the 3rd and I need to take care of that this weekend...so maybe tonight.
Well, I better get around to some other posts before I get off.
stickn2it 09-29-07, 03:05 PM I just got finised with my daily workout. I walked on the TM for 41 minutes while reading my Joyce Meyer book. I need to finish this one because I am so ready to buy her new one entitled "I Dare You". I also did some core training targeting the backs of my legs, sides, and tummy.
stickn2it 10-02-07, 09:17 PM In for a quick sec to post my workout stats for the last couple of days. Things continue to be busy for me as I house hunt and prepare to switch jobs. I have managed to get in some workouts, though.

Great job on your workouts. I love those machines for the thighs. how is the house hunting going? Hope all is going well.
hugs,
stickn2it 10-04-07, 06:09 PM Katherine-thanks for the support. The house hunting is crazy and so getting ready to change jobs. I am excited about the new things going on in my life, though. It is a bit crazy. I haven't found my dream starter home, but I am still looking.
Workout Today:
Warm-up (10 min on bike)
Cardio (22 min on stairmaster)
Cardio (25 min on elliptical)
Toning Abs/Sides (Crunches...lost count 100+)
I took off today from work. I really should of been there because I have a lot of getting ready to leave to do, but at the same time I have to burn a lot of time or I will lose it. It doesn't carry over to my new job. I went to the gym today and had a good workout. Had some sushi for lunch...didn't do too bad. I figured it was better than grabbing a burger and fries.
stickn2it 10-07-07, 08:39 PM Okay, so I knew this day would come. I kept pushing it and I have no one to blame but myself. I have gained 5 pds. That was my weigh in this morning. A weigh in that is not acceptable. I am getting my butt back in gear. Things have been so crazy lately with the old job, new job, PT job, house hunting, etc. that my eating has taken a backseat. My workouts have been good, but not great. I am not attacking it the way I used to. I am not letting a years worth of hard work go down the drain. I will attack these pds. and not let myself think that it is okay because it's not.
Okay just got |
