View Full Version : If you really want something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse

I thought that would be a wonderful title for my new journal (did you know there is a length limit to titles? I didn't! I had to edit mine).
First post has to be positive for it sets the mood for the journal, dontcha think?
Here's to finding a way!
Corinna

Hi Cori - nice title. It's true, if you want something badly enough, you'll find a way. Excuses are always handy.
I think you're a determined young woman - you can do ANYTHING you want!
love the new title Cori. i know you really want it Cori, so nothing will stand in your way!
hugs bell :)
Corinna 03-23-08, 12:32 PM My period is standing in my way. Those kind of cramps where you feel worried that if you go out in public you'll explode from the bloat and kill anyone who can smell.
I think the Concerta is making me feel bloated.. but it could have been PMS. We'll see. NOT weighing myself! Nuh uh!
So while I do get hungry.. I get hungry as often as I did BC (before concerta.. ha!!) I get full much faster. We'll see how it works for me when I do happen upon the scale next.
Happy Easter to all my cracked-yet-still-good-egg-friends!
Corinna
Corinna 03-23-08, 12:34 PM I don't know what the banana is riding.. A slug with legs? It'd kinda creepy, so will likely be short lived.
Amarantha 03-23-08, 06:29 PM Huzzah, Corinna!!!! Ye are doin' great with your ticker goals and just great overall. Ye inspire me as you always seem so lively even when I'm going to go take a nap! See ya!
I think the banana is riding on a lime green walamaquadraped. That's a cross between a walrus with legs and a llama with chartreuse alpaca hair. They are extremely rare.
mugwump 03-23-08, 06:51 PM It looks like some kind of dinosaur to me. Kinda cute, but then, one of my favourite cartoons as a kid was Beany and Cecil. Cecil was a seasick sea serpent and kinda green all the time. I don't know if he had legs or not though...

Corinna 03-23-08, 08:34 PM Ama - They must be! I fell for it and googled it to see if you were pulling my leg. The google results came up with an image of you pulling my leg.
I am SO blonde.
Mug - It is kinda cute. I still like Brian the dog doing Peanut Butter Jelly Time, though. It's a classic.
I had dinner.. *urp*
I need to finish my bedroom! There were Japanese soldiers under there that didn't know the war was over. Yikes!
Corinna
Just found your new journal love the title and I know your
going to be super successful.
I'm not sure what the banana is riding either? lol
But I'm not sure which is worse not knowing what it is riding or
that a banana can ride something? LOL
Cute anyways!
I think I vote with Mugs on this one.
Have a great week!
Dropping in to see the new digs
The title peak my interest - great attitude
Corinna 03-24-08, 05:58 PM Butterflychick - thanks. :) I'm happy! I hope it stays this way.
suny - thanks. Yeah, I guess a banana can't ride anything anyway. I mean really. Hahaha..
These pills have taken away my exercise mojo. Well, or I just don't have it right now because I need to do things like workout and find a mofo suit. Apparently, fat women don't need dress suits in spring that aren't yellow or pink. I need a blue or a black suit. What is so hard about that?!?!
6 hours of shopping! With kids. NOT fun. They each own a new webkinz. Emily, the ever insistent one.. almost lost hers to a tragic thrown from the car window incident.
I need alcohol. or something (need to workout!!!) but I have a lot of prep to do for tomorrow's interview. :)
Corinna
I like your new journal. I do think a new one is in order since you are really working on a new you.
Carol
If you really want something, you'll find a way.
:hijacked: I was sitting here talking to my daughter and I thought this fit part of your journal title. It's really just a silly thing.
They are filming a movie in Crown Point (believe it or not!) and the star of the movie is Johnny Depp. My daugher LOVES him. So she camped out in the cold on the square uptown today, hoping to get a glimpse of him. I thought she was nuts, cause I figured she'd stand out there for nothing, lol. But she saw him!! She was thrilled. She says her life is complete now that she saw her Johnny. 'Where there's a will there's a way'.
Corinna 03-24-08, 07:31 PM I had a boyfriend who looks a lot like him. _A lot_. JD is older than he is, though since he's in his 40s.. I do like him as an actor.
Ahhh, a new journal for a new you! Perfect. I know all will go well with the interview, but good luck.
Hugs,
K
I am sending good vibes for the interview I know you will do absolutely perfect and will if you want it get the job! I believe, I believe, I believe! You'll be fine. If you survived six hours shopping with kids then you can so survive the interview like it's a lovely walk in the park!
OK I have to hijack on Mel's story about Johnny Depp.

I loved that story so cute & yes Johnny is the man! Glad your daughter had fun!
Great to be young huh?
jessica 03-25-08, 04:56 AM nice new digs, Cori! (a couple of hypothesese about dead exer-mojo: 1. Exercise might have been your way to focus your mind before, since those of us with ADHD tend to self-stimulate (don't snicker) to regulate ourselves, or 2. It could have everything to do with finding things in your world that seem as important to do as exercise?)
hope the interview went well!!
Corinna 03-25-08, 11:45 AM The interview was ok - I'll call the agency and get his feel for it.
Corinna 03-25-08, 03:44 PM I got a second interview! Whoot!
Way to go on the 2nd interview! That's a very good sign.
Hugs,
K
mugwump 03-25-08, 08:05 PM YAY! A second interview is a big accomplishment! Knock 'em dead!

Corinna 03-26-08, 04:19 PM http://video.stumbleupon.com/#p=ithct48cqw
The big SECOND INTERVIEW. Coolness. I'm sending uber-compentency, but not "know every damn thing" vibes your way. Knock them dead! I know that you will.
I'm also sending exercise mojo vibes your way. mwwwwaaawwwwaaaawwwwwaaaaa! Take care!
Corinna 03-26-08, 11:29 PM Fagan - Heh.. I hope you meant to say the "mwwwwaaawwwwaaaawwwwwaaaaa!" in a Gonzo voice, because that is how I imagine it. Too funny! I did a spinning class and the instructor used terms you did and I thought of how I was able to stand-run it at around 85RPMs tonight and it also reminded me of you. My back was sore/tired during class so I decided I needed to do a weight class afterwards to get some abs in (which she forgot to do.. gah! The Y and their volunteer instructors!!!).
My second interview is Friday. The woman who would be my boss was blown away by me so I think I have a very good chance. And it's neat because it's a really cool company. I read their website (read it while drinking koolaid they provided) and the way they help people through innovation is just amazing. I've had jobs where if they don't their stuff, people are in pain.. people are inconvenienced.. their quality of life isn't bettered for a weekend.. In this job.. if I mess up, someone can die. So it's a senior role to say the least.
I have another interview to be a pricing analyst for another medical equipment company. This one is much smaller and is more directly linked to the US head office.. Sorry folks, but I'm wary of working for a US company right now! I would like to not have my job axed because head office in the US, who oversees budgeting, needs to make cut backs.
I am happy that the Cdn gov't distanced ourselves from the US in an economic way after the recession in the 80's. That doesn't mean we aren't being affected. And I think working for a company whose head office (to which the Cdn reports to) is in the US is risky. We're at a 33 year low for unemployment (ironically, I lowered the rate because I am just not part of the job market right now) and it's a good time to get into a job.. not after more people have been affected.
And that's just two jobs. The analyst job would be nice just because it's more geeky and those needs haven't been met in a long time (I guess people tried to fill those needs with bearing knowledge.. didn't work!). But at the other job, I need to learn about reagents and stuff like that.
Mugs - thanks! Would you believe it's a 9-5 job with an hour lunch? I don't even think you gov't types get that anymore, do you? ;)
Kerri - it is happening very fast. NSK did, too. I am used to having 140000 interviews with a company. Odd.
I got the other job interview off a head hunter that I met today. I was 35 minutes late for my appointment with her!!! (Mugs will understand this).. I got as far as Dufferin on the Gardiner and BAM! My GPS said I'd be there at 10:05 and i got there at 11:05!! I was on the offramp at York for 25 minutes.. and then the rest to get up to Richmond. She was understanding. I called her at 10:20 (from the York offramp!!!) to say I was running late. Dang it! If I lived in Toronto, I'd transit it everywhere.
I also was depressed to see all the homeless people sleeping on grates.
Ok, I need to prep for tomorrow!!
Corinna
Good luck on fridays interview! You'll do fine sounds like a great company to work for.
I just saw a news show about all the homeless people being thrown out of a certain area of Canada, seems like all countries could come up with a better solution doesn't it.
Have a great day.
That clip from Oprah - tearjerker. Wow. I shared it with a bunch of people.
Good luck Friday.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 03-28-08, 12:38 PM Suny - It was very likely the homeless being thrown out of "tent city" in Toronto. The property was bought out by Home Depot and they evicted everyone. I don't agree that the homeless should get prime real estate. Then again, when Emily was a wee baby (or it might have been when I was pregnant with her) there was a homeless guy living under the tree that is in our backyard, but overhung into the park we back on to. We moved his cot and cut off th branches that shaded/hid him. If I could be sure that he was harmless, I'd leave him there.. but I have 3 kids to worry about. He would always run from the cops.. so it was a little unrattling. It took a cop being creeped out by how it must have made us feel to get rid of the guy. All of the other ones didn't care.
Not that I have a clue what the solution is. Many are mentally ill and seem more at ease in that lifestyle that to have to medicate themselves to "live up" to our standards. Then you have the ones who are there for the reasons that are truly tragic. Loss of income, abuse, etc..
Now I'm getting depressed.
Kerri - isn't it beautiful? I was very touched by it. Especially that he kept it together until he had to say that he wouldn't be there for his sons.
I am cautiously optimistic about my interview this morning. The GM really seemed to like me. And I know the woman who would be my boss did, too. :)
I went to the gym and rocked at the gym.. Did step and then abs (WHOOT! Finally!) and this afternoon, I will do so weights, walking lunges, etc. :)
Good luck at the interview today..no doubt you will be awesome!
Cant wait to hear how it goes!
hugs bell :)
Okay, so where is the interview update post??? I hope all went well. I don't think you've ever been confident about a job you didn't end up getting.
The part about the guy not breaking up until saying he wouldn't be there for his sons broke me up, too. Man! Very courageous.
Great on getting those workouts in.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 03-29-08, 10:02 AM I did give an update post! I said I was cautiously optimistic. I just don't like to put too much confidence out there because Fate and I don't get along.
And yes, you've seen me not get a job that I wanted and thought I was a shoe-in for. Third interview was with the president. The HR chick was someone I went to school with, etc etc.. with a company I really wanted to work for (toy company) and I was SO offended when I not only didn't get the job, they never returned my phone calls. I felt like a scorned lover. I was more upset than I reasonably should have been.
I guess the president didn't like me.
But that's fine! It's all good in the end. :)
I'm off to the gym.. I hope I get into the class.
Corinna
Corinna 03-29-08, 01:47 PM I had an AWESOME workout. Another step class. Heel was sore though. :(
My dog is barking like the annoying mutt she is. GAH!
Corinna 03-29-08, 02:54 PM I got this list in an email and it said it is Bill Gates' list. It isn't.. This list is the work of Charles J. Sykes, author of the book Dumbing Down Our Kids: Why American Children Feel Good About Themselves But Can't Read, Write, Or Add
Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is no t divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
Many versions omit the last three rules:
Rule No. 12: Smoking does not make you look cool. It makes you look moronic. Next time you're out cruising, watch an 11-year-old with a butt in his mouth. That's what you look like to anyone over 20. Ditto for "expressing yourself" with purple hair and/or pierced body parts.
Rule No. 13: You are not immortal. (See Rule No. 12.) If you are under the impression that living fast, dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse is romantic, you obviously haven't seen one of your peers at room temperature lately.
Rule No. 14: Enjoy this while you can. Sure parents are a pain, school's a bother, and life is depressing. But someday you'll realize how wonderful it was to be a kid. Maybe you should start now. You're welcome.
Corinna 03-29-08, 05:51 PM I just saw this house and I am loving it! http://www.mls.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx?PropertyID=6663439
mugwump 03-30-08, 04:07 PM What's not to love? It looks absolutely gorgeous! Can you afford it? What a dream house and lots of land for gardening!
Hugs
Mugs
I thought I was posting my update question the following day (might help if I looked at date posts, eh?).
I've seen that list before. It's a good one. You seem to find a lot of interesting things (this list, the Tony Robbins stuff, etc). Thanks for sharing them.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 03-31-08, 11:08 AM Kerri - sorry.. I thought you and Bell had missed that I had updated. ;) I haven't heard back. I guess it is reasonable that I won't for a while. *sigh* I will follow up this afternoon if I haven't heard anything. I have another interview with another company tomorrow. The company is less cool, but the job is more cool (to me).
Mugs - We can afford it. Actually, we would be approved for up to over $600K. But could we live? I don't think those calculators are very accurate at all. The house is nice.. but I don't know if it's worth what they are asking for. The first floor is gorgeous and 90% done. The other floors? Well, the music room is done, but the bathroom needs to be re-done and the attic? Oy! There is a kitchenette that needs to go and the bathroom needs to be gutted. I would gut the kitchenette and bathroom (they back onto one another) and make a bigger bathroom! It'd be around $3000 for the 2nd floor bathroom and $10000 for the upstairs one. Add another $10000 for new windows (the family room windows are ew, but that's it) and a steel front door.... I would also want to install emergency ladders from the top floor to at least the balcony below. It seems odd to me that there's a hot plate AND gas fireplace up there and one exit.
So, I think I would need a moment to myself and a cigarette if we could get it for $450K so we could make the renovations.
Kaitlin has an appointment at the hospital and then I hope to go workout somewhere. I think I might try a Jen cycle fit class.. I have the feeling I won't like it, but what are you going to do? I should run, too. And do weights. Hmph. I might do that later tonight. I dunno.
I should study up for my interview tomorrow. This is a cooler job (for the geek in me) as a pricing analyst. I believe it would involve presentations and that sort of customer engagement, but also the geekier stuff, like database management, etc. We'll see how it works out! It's right downtown Mississauga, which is a PITA to get to because of bottle necking issues. Sorry! it's not downtown Mississauga, it's further west. Hrm.. We'll see how the commute is.
I should get going..
Corinna
stickn2it 03-31-08, 11:15 AM Just ran across your post. Love the title...I think that's what drew me in. It is so very true. I also checked out that list you posted the other day. Pretty interesting. I also noticed you're house hunting. I just purchased my first home last month...very scary and it really took me out of my healthy element. So much took a backseat during that process, especially my weight and execise. I am going to check out your link and look at the house. Have a good one.
Corinna 03-31-08, 01:24 PM Stickn - thanks! It's good when people think I have a good attitude. Hahaha.. Yeah, we're looking to get a bigger house. The one I linked to is nice, but has flaws. For $479K, I want a perfect house!
I heard back from the medical company and they like me! They really, really like me! I have a bunch of forms to fill out and somehow, the fact that I may or may not have hemorrhoids is of interest to them.
And I thought the asking for a credit check was invasive. Oh how little did I know!!
Anyhoo.. I am happy! No one is around for me to jump up and down with. The nerve of people!! 'Course, I don't have the job _yet_ but should in a few days.
Corinna
Yes ! to the job calling you back
Credit Check for job - I had a rude wake up call to that this past week. Got a job at 15.00 an hour I can do from home and all was well .... BUT I had to have a credit score of X and I am shy a few numbers - hence no job :sigh:
The house is beautiful ! :) I collect antiques and I have the same phone in the foyer lol
Corinna 03-31-08, 05:11 PM BFL - I asked why the credit check and they just want to make sure that I have never gone bankrupt, etc. My credit score is fine, so I should be as well. Assuming that my husband has paid my Sears bill! Yikes! I'm sorry you didn't get the job.
Corinna
stickn2it 03-31-08, 06:20 PM Yep, that's quite a bit of money. I don't blame you. I wonder if the perfect, flawless, house really exists. I take it that you have gotten good news from the job, so congrats.
It's not uncommon in the States to have an potential employer do a credit check on you these days. I think it's a bit invasive myself, too, but everybody has to work. The hemorrhoids question is interesting......
I'm really glad this job has worked out for you, Sally Fields (they like me. They really, really like me!). Will you still do the other interview, just in case?
Congrats again, my friend.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-01-08, 10:21 PM Still up in the air about the job.. it's all very weird, actually.. but I had an interview with another company today and they really liked me, too.. I have a second interview sometime this week. It's a geekier position, which I really like. We'll see!
I loved your list I saw that as well yes kids do need to learn that~ Television is NOT real life. I use to work with kids it amazed me how many of them think life is like Paris Hilton every day! My God help us seriously!
Great going on all the job interviews. The right one will come along. I use to be a manager and the reason we check credit history has a lot to do with how some one handles their own life as to how they will take care of work for you. People with high credit scores tend to be perfectionist aka me rotfl but it is true for the most part however some times bad things do happen to good people but credit scores are a great point of reference for how one handles their responsibilities. If you can't handle things at home most businesses feel how can a person handle our huge responsibilities daily. There are some law makers who feel this is unfair treatment of employees but yet it hasn't changed the law yet either.
I can even tell you why they wanted to know about the dreaded hemorrhoids, lol. Because some jobs require light lifting of products and such insurance companies don't want a company to hire someone who may suffer from hemorrhoids then if they pick up some thing and cause more problems then that is a work comp. case. I use to work for a law firm actually had a few of those cases, lol. It is hard to sit across the desk and ask a grown man about his well hemorrhoids! eek. But had to do it a few times. You just try and be professional and kind they appreciate that because it is hard to talk about it and most people do not want to turn in a work comp. hemorrhoid case they are too embrassessed and then it turns out worse in the long run and they need surgery!:(
Ok I hijacked so sorry!
Have a great week and go get that job.
stickn2it 04-02-08, 10:33 AM Good luck with all your job prospects. It's nice to have companies interested in you. It kinda puts you in the driver's seat to make the decision.
Corinna 04-02-08, 01:01 PM Sticknit - I have the advantage that I am bilingual, with being English first, since I live in an English community. I learned proper grammar (French is hard!) and it makes me attractive to many employers.
Suny - thanks for the insight. It's odd, though.. if I don't get the job, then I could claim discrimination, no? Hypothetically that I would. I say if they don't want me, I don't want them!
I have a second interview with the other company tomorrow. I need another suit! Gah! We'll see what I can find.
Corinna
Hey girl hope you find a killer suit!
Most states are hire and fire at will. It is hard to prove discrimination these days for some jobs with all the disclaimers they make people sign. I live in america the hire and fire at will is what most states have. Sad but true.
I don't like that companies now want people to send in their resumes on-line. As a past manager that would drive me crazy because how can you really judge someone on just their resume. I found often the best employees don't have a perfect resume or perfect college record even. I liked to see them one on one in person and then decide. I think some companies miss really great employees because of this procedure.
Now go get that suit and have a great thursday.
Corinna 04-03-08, 09:20 AM I went to a second hand store of all places and found a FABULOUS suit! It's quite nice. The pants are a big big.. but the jacket is amazing. I am very impressed with it.
Suny - thanks.. their HR dept is really after a reference at my last job.. so we'll see. I have another job to go for.. que sera, sera.. right?
I have a psychologist appointment before my other interview and this job reference stint has poked at some deep insecurities in me.. so I have to workout after my appointment and before the interview just to make sure I don't go crazy!!
I am down like 6 lbs this week, which is awesome. Goooooooooo adhd meds! hahaha.. I get hungry, but don't feel like eating.
Oh oh oh oh!!! for the TLC I Can Make you Thin thing.. go here: http://www.mckenna.com/ and register as a member.. you can go through all of his lessons for free and without watching a tediously long show.. The one on conquering cravings is awesome! Mel will like it because it takes my maggot thing to a whole new and disgusting level.
Not that I needed to feel grossed out by food right now.. but what are you going to do?
Corinna
stickn2it 04-03-08, 10:41 AM That is an amazing asset to have when it come to job seeking. I know that employers go gah gah over bilingual applicants. That's an accomplishment I always wished I had under my belt. Anywho, good luck with the 2nd interview.
Congrats on finding a great suit you'll land that dream job for sure now.
I have watched the I can make you thin too. I record it then wiz through it.
Congrats on the six pounds down that is fantastic!
Cori, I love your new journal title..... it's really awesome and says everything really. And I saved the video to watch when I have a little more time to concentrate.
And reading how someone you interviewed with you was impressed.... I'm not surprised at all. You ARE very impressive.... don't ever forget that!
Corinna 04-03-08, 12:31 PM DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEJAY! :x Thanks - I like the title, too. :)
Two places were impressed with me. I am going through the spanish inquisition at the first place which has poked a whole deep into my insecurities. *sigh*
Suny - thanks! Positive thinking, right? I'm there! Though they rescheduled my interview for my potential start date at the first place, even though I don't have an offer yet. We'll see!
stickn - Canada has two official languages and I am fluent in both of them. I grew up in a place where they are equally used, but French is pushed on you.. which isn't bad in a way because it's a much harder language! I am very proud of being bilingual as I am the only one in my family who is.. except my kids. They all speak French. :)
I should do some housework.
Corinna
chumlette 04-03-08, 04:29 PM I read a book by Wally Lamb once (can't remember the name, it was fiction) about a girl who lost weight partly by imagining gross things all over the food she loved. It is a good plan, huh? hahaha
Congrats on the 6 lbs gone. I didn't know the ADD meds could do that. They sure don't do that for me. Sigh. I've not gained anything but now that I'm eating again, not losing either really.
I like your new icon.
And good luck with the rescheduled interview!
I didn't realize that you are on ADHD meds..... my dr. just diagnosed me with that and my insurance company is refusing to give me the meds because I'm over 18! aarrgghh.... I hate insurance companies!! Now I have to see a psychologist and go through what the insurance company is calling "proper testing" and it's going to cost almost $700 when all is said and done. They are paying a measly $325..... rat rastards!!
How are you feeling on the meds? Can you tell a difference? Not trying to be nosey, but just wondering since this is all new to me. I bought some books, but haven't had the desire to read them just yet. lol
I caught an episode of I Can Make You Thin this week and LOVED it. It was the emotional eating one with the tapping technique. When I had my 3rd miscarriage and saw a counselor for a bit, she taught me that and I haven't used it in ages, but it's remarkable how well it works. I've actually used it a couple of times since watching the show. I'll try to get through the lessons this weekend.
Good luck on the upcoming job stuff.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-04-08, 07:49 PM Still no job yet!
Kerri - I find the pace excruciatingly slow! The online videos are much, much better.
DJ - I was just diagnosed, so the meds are a new thing. I took 36mg of Concerta today and it's a good dose for me focus-wise, I was extremely nauseous. Maybe I have the flu? There are antidepressants that are good for ADHD - maybe your doctor will prescribe one of those? $700 isn't bad - testing is $2000 here!!
Chumlette - I've read one of his books.. It was called _She's Come Undone_. Good book. I'm always impressed when I have read a book that others have read, because I read maybe 1 per year. I read all the time, it's just usually non-fiction. The ADHD meds I am on are stimulants. They are supposed to affect your appetite.
I need to make dinner now. :)
Corinna
Yeah, the show is slow. I'm usually busy doing stuff when I'm watching TV, unless it's one of my couple of coveted shows - lol. I just happened to be channel-surfing last time when I caught it. I watched it last night, too, though, under the same circumstances. That was the gross-out one and I'll tell you what, it worked! I'm actually getting a little excited about this.
I read mostly fiction, but occasionally I catch a bio on someone - I have one on Katherine Hepburn right now, but I'll have to wait til summer to find the time to read it.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-06-08, 09:34 AM I need chub rub stuff. *sigh* I went for a 2 mile run on Friday (after doing step in the morning) and yeah.. OUCH! I couldn't figure out why I was so raw yesterday after sitting down all day.. then I remembered. So I want to buy some before my class this morning..
And yet, I'm still sitting here.
Food yesterday was a little off. First treat in over a week. Weight was up a little because of it.
Much of the same today: Step this morning then running this afternoon.. Though I plan on doing 5K this afternoon since my run is NEXT Sunday! I'll bring Hope with me.
In between, I will be bringing my SU! work to a friend's house as they scrap. I have a scrapbook to do, but I need supplies.
Kerri - I don't read many books. I think fiction as a book is better for me, though.. it holds my interest. But my easily bored brain relishes in articles.
I'm off!
Corinna
Corinna 04-07-08, 11:44 AM I'm tired! I already had a job interview today and I have to work at finding out some info for 2PM. Blech.
Corinna
Hope you get that job Corinna..if that is your dream job or close to it..
Funny..I watched I can make you Thin last night on TV..it was interesting...Very thought provoking and I am sure it will work if one uses it..(like me)
Ha I also have read "She's come undone..LOL
I am proud to be able to speak two languages tow... and my daughter who now lives in Cornwall is sending my little granddaughter to french school which she can do since my daughter went to French immersion here.
Have a great day Corinna.. only 3 or 4 hrs till you know :)
Corinna 04-07-08, 01:27 PM The egg is hatching! I should have a written offer very very very very soon. Whoot!
For the GTA'ers who read my blog.. I live in Brampton and the place I 'viewed at this morning (2nd job, better position for me but gah! too far) took me 50 minutes to get to!! 19 minutes last week during non-rush hour and rush hour home is so much worse than to.
so I'm happy to have the offer i have! Or the almost offer. I'm ready to count the chicken!
I bet if I mention chickens to Dan, he'll ask me to choke his.
Corinna
LOL You crack me up!!
Hope you get good news on the job front real soon!!
Corinna 04-07-08, 08:34 PM I have the written offer now. I am gainfully employed!
mugwump 04-07-08, 08:39 PM Congrats Corinna,
Hope this is your dream job - something you love and that they pay you what you are worth!
Hugs
Mugs
One little two little no wait three little chickens all in a row! CONGRATS CHICKA!!!!!
WOOHOO!!! AWESOME!! Congratulations, Corinna!
Congrats on the job, Cori!!! Which one is it as I've gotten confused between your interviews and Jay's - LOL.
Hugs,
K
Congratulations on your new job.
Carol
stickn2it 04-08-08, 02:39 PM Huge, Huge, Huge Congrats on your job offer. That's awesome. :cheer:
Super, fantastic news!! I'm so glad that you got the job. You really DID wow them. Coolness. You and your hubby doing anything to celebrate? Go see a show, or something? You should.
i am really thrilled that you got the job Cori. when do you start??? i am a bit like Kerri..which job is it exactly?
hugs bell :)
Corinna 04-08-08, 10:13 PM Heh.. I don't talk about the actual positions much because they aren't all that interesting. I will be working for the medical company. I will be in the diagnostics division.
Thank you everyone for the congratulations.. I appreciate it. I do admit I like the chase a lot more then the idea of going in for work! But this seems to be a good group. We'll see how it goes. I start next Monday.
Fagan - We went for lunch yesterday. It was nice. :)
I canceled my membership at one of the gyms I am a member at. I will keep my LA Fitness one because I LOVE my step instructor.. I will likely join another because it's beside work and it's all about fitting things in, right? And yes, I still belong to the Y - but that's more for the kids than for me. No, really.. it is..
See I waited and counted the chickens after they hatched, lol. You sound excited about the job and I do hope it is a great group to work with. To me co-workers are at least half of the happiness factor at a job. If you work with harsh or bad people going in everyday is a drag. I don't like people who are always whining and fussing.
Btw can I ask a question is the LA Fitness part of the LA weight-loss program?
I saw a story on t.v. about a girl who went to LA weight-loss and wow did she look awesome and just gorgeous after she reached her goal. She lost her weight quickly and she said she has kept it off for a long time. So I was just curious.
Have a happy wednesday & congrats again on the great job I am so proud for you.
Congratulations, Cori my girl. You rock!
Corinna 04-09-08, 04:38 PM Suny - I don't think LA Fitness has anything to do with LA Weightloss, sorry.
Or at least not in Canada.
The company is ranked 34th of the top companies to work for in Canada. How awesome is that? It's that sort of thing that has me excited. I was told the offer for the other job would be given to me on Friday. 3 jobs opportunities.. 3 job offers. I interview VERY well.. and then I get bored and disappoint my employers. *sigh*
I need to get my new modem so I can stop stealing my neighbour's bandwidth and then take my kids to the gym. :)
Corinna
Corinna 04-10-08, 10:32 AM I have my modem! It's encrypted.. all is well! Whoot!
Corinna 04-10-08, 10:32 AM Hey there - This explains me in a nutshell. I think.. it's the most debilitating trait of my ADHD that I have and yet this is the _only_ information on it out there. It's like being told you have a disease and it has a name and symptoms.. but no explanation as to why, no treatment and no cure. Fun times for me.. I know there are worse things in life.. but it's still my Hell.
“Paralysis of the Will” is explained in the book You Mean I’m Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?!
“. . .failure to act at all-something like a paralysis of the will. The
output function totally stops working. When this happens, the Adder may
find himself in a frozen state, unable to take appropriate action. He
may watch the softball whiz by as if he were a spectator instead of the
player responsible for intercepting it. When it's time to answer
someone's question, he may stand back feeling stupid, because he can't
think of a response." (Kelly and Ramundo, You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid
or Crazy?!)
Although there is not much information available
on this topic, it seems to be a major obstacle for many ADDers. “block, inertia,
stall, or inability”. Some examples are:
* Bills
not paid until somebody calls on the phone or until service is cut off,
when the money is in the bank and there is no intent to accept services
w/o paying for them.
* Income tax returns late or not filed when
there is no intent not to pay taxes (most paid during the year by
payroll deductions anyway), and when in fact there is a belief in the
tax system and what it produces for us.
* Similar credit problems when we know pretty much all there is to know about staying out of debt.
* Walking into the kitchen with several days' unwished dishes, thinking "Oh, how disgusting," and then leaving the dishes again.
“The key is that in all of these scenarios you know what
you need to do, you are daily appalled and shamed by your inability to
move, but you j.u.s.t c.a.n.'.t m.o.v.e. You want to do it. You know
that getting started is the worst part, but you don't pick up even one
dish or whatever. You are frozen into immobility (literally and/or
figuratively), numbed in the face of a complete lack of understanding
of why you cannot even touch some of these projects.”
this problem is not an isolated
situation and it can cause extreme frustration, shame, and low
self-esteem. For many, this paralysis began in childhood and has
continued well into adulthood. It has created problems in
relationships, in work, in education and in life in general. It
creates a feeling of isolation and terror.
I bought that book, but haven't started it yet.... I go for my 2nd round of tests this afternoon. Should be interesting!
I found a great article on adult ADD/ADHD. I'm babysitting Zoey right now at her house, so when I am home, I'll send it to you or post it on here. It had some positives in it, which of course is a good thing to read! I copied and pasted it into a document so my family could read it. It's really interesting!
Hope you are having a good Thursday!
oh..and something funny about that title... when I was first looking for books on that subject, I thought that book said "You mean I'm not lazy, I'm just crazy..." LOL that might be a better description of me. *grin*
I just printed your post. I sometimes forget all of the things that ADD/ADHD encompasses. I think DH and I need to read this and remember it when dealing with son and grandson. I have seen all of these problems with both of them.
Neither son or grandson can bring David's tools back if they borrow. David really gets irritated.
Thanks for the info.
Carol
chumlette 04-11-08, 11:48 AM Congrats on the job(s), Cori! Great news!
The ADD symptom you wrote about is terrible, I agree. It is similar to people with depression I think. Inertia is easy; action is hard. I guess that is the nugget of truth in all that. Sigh.
I had to giggle at DJ's book title, though.
Corinna 04-11-08, 12:07 PM http://www.canadianbusiness.com/managing/employees/article.jsp?content=20080414_198716_198716
That's what I'm afraid of! But since I don't have huge debilitations, I should be able to work through them, I think. :)
Chum - I think that it's harder to do nothing. You emotionally pay a price every time you think about you haven't done something.. each and every time. We'll see.. I'll be my own guinea pig. :)
Carol - it's frustrating.. actually, it's humiliating.
Dj - yeah, Dan said around the same thing about me. *sigh*hehehe.. I'd love to read what you saved, please.
I have an appointment in 30 mins and I need to take a shower - toodles! Thanks, everyone..
I have to tell the shrink that I don't think I had enough of a trial with Concerta because I've been SO anxious lately.. is it stress of looking for a job or the meds?
Corinna
I think that it's harder to do nothing. You emotionally pay a price every time you think about you haven't done something.. each and every time.
I saw that and went - WOW! :O
Very very true and I have never heard it put like that - Thank You :D
Chum is so right about people with depression going through these same/similar behaviors. DH is so much like that. And I have to say reading it gives me much better understanding of some of the kids I deal with when I'm trying to get some answers about something, etc.
You are in a great position in the job arena. Can't wait to see where you land for sure!
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-12-08, 08:17 AM Kerri - Yeah - we're wired to be goofs.. but who isn't, in some way? I think that describing someone like me and saying that the most consistent thing is that I am inconsistent is very accurate.. onward and upward, though. What is Jay applying for now, by the way?
BFL - Heh.. I am happy I can help you grow! I didn't make the thought up, I heard it on a Sue Rusch audio seminar.. She used to train/talk to direct sales people (after being in direct sales for EVAH!) and now she's president or something of Discovery Toys.. or something like that.. She rocks, I'm sad she isn't "on the circuit" anymore. It was an "aha!" moment for me too when I heard it. You experience the same emotional pain when you think about something that you have to do that is unpleasant as when you do it.. so if you put it off, the experience more pain.
I have to prep for my classes today!
Corinna
Jay is looking for a tech job mainly, but he's so sick of being over-the-road that he is half-heartedly looking for a local driving job, too. We're all tired of him being gone so much. It's really hard on our girl. She was all over Daddy the one day he was home this week - actually hanging on him the whole time. Something better has to be just around the corner though. It's time.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-13-08, 05:48 PM From You: On a Diet
"When it comes to dieting, trying to whip fat with our weapon of willpower is the food equivalent to holding your breath under water," they write. "You can do it for a while, but no matter how psyched up you get, at some point your body—your biology—forces you to the surface gasping for air."
I thought that was quite inspired..
Kerri - oh yeah! He took that is school, right? How long ago did he finish?
Corinna 04-13-08, 10:20 PM I had a good workout this morning. My heel is sore again. Shockwave will be a drug for me, I think. I have been tapering off. *sigh* I think I need to get real physio in there.. I'll ask around at work tomorrow (or this week) as there must be a clinic near the job where I can get treated. I am running out of chiro money, but have plenty of physio money! (and I should get orthotics!!)
I did a step class.. but it wasn't Darline.. It was this other chick who can't cue! Bell will understand this.. Most step routines are 8, 16 or 32 beats in length.. So think of dancing (or music in general) and so the instructor needs to tell you what to do next a step or two ahead of time.. this one cued on count 1!!! GAH!! Then we did lots of walking lunges in the weights class so I'll be at work tomorrow looking like I have a 4x4 up my butt. :o
I'm tired. But I don't know where the pants I want to wear tomorrow are. *sigh*
hope you find those pants!!!!
my pet peeve is instructors who cant cue or cant keep to the beat and are out of time..picky little group fitness freaks arent we????
hahahahahha..STEP is probably the one class where you really have to be on time with your cue-ing otherwise people end up flying off their steps or running into one another hahahahha.
hugs bell :)
stickn2it 04-14-08, 11:26 AM So, did you find your pants? I did lunges yesterday at the gym, so I am right there with you w/ the 4x4s. The temp dropped down to the 40s this morning so I am wearing high heel boots and that along with the soreness of my legs...ain't cute. Well, I hope you have a great day and week.
He finished about 6 months ago. He was looking really hard at first, then got his heart set on some jobs that didn't pan out, so he quit looking for a while. He's finally back at it the last few weeks.
Hope you found some pants. Or that wouldn't be pretty. Well, it might since I haven't seen you except head shots, but it wouldn't be legal, I don't think...
lol.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-14-08, 06:55 PM Bell - it's just annoying! I expect a certain level of instructor-ness.. they need to deliver it, dang it!
Stickn - Yes, yes.. I found the pants. They were hiding by hanging right in front of me. I'm not as sore as I thought I would be, which is good. :)
Kerri - He just has to soldier on and look hard. Dan couldn't understand why I would let myself be woo'd by so many opportunities at once. You have to take a shotgun approach. Didn't the school have a career counseling dept to help them find jobs afterwards?
I'm worried about Belle - she hurt her paw tonight and is limping something awful. Gym has a 30 minute class that I can make that interests me, which sucks. And plus, it'd be after Emily's bedtime. Gah! Sucks to be me, that is for sure!
I need to find pants for tomorrow now. Hahaha!
Corinna
Look up Z-Coil shoes for your heel. I talked about them a few days ago on my journal. People with foot problems find them to be very helpful. They put a bounce in your step.
Hope you have a great week.
Corinna 04-14-08, 10:51 PM Belle's feeling much better.
Suny - I looked up those shoes. :O Wow! They are a unique style! Do you own some?
Corinna 04-15-08, 08:25 AM On to day 2!
They do have an employment dept. and he has been working with them off and on. The problem is he gets discouraged and tells them to stop sending out his resume. I'm sure it's the depression - it always seems to cause stupid decision making.....Plus, he initially set his "required hourly pay" too high. I think he knew it and did it because he's scared about changing careers. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't talked to one of the career counselors that called when he was out of town. I put it down to a more reasonable amount and told him I did. All of the sudden, there were interviews coming. He's not great about seeking more than one job at a time, but I push him to open up his possibilities. I really wish he could just self motivate better. He's got another interview Monday afternoon.
Glad Belle is better. I'll be blogging about my fiasco with Daisy later tonight. What a day we had yesterday.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-15-08, 07:18 PM Kerri - I thought you deleted your blog? I'll keep my fingers crossed for Jay!
Corinna 04-16-08, 08:32 AM I also can't imagine what it's like to live with someone who is depressed a lot. That must be a huge weight on your shoulders. I know my friend is worried her hubby will one day follow in his father's footsteps and jump off a building.
I did delete my old blog, but really needed a place to write every day or so, so I started a new one. I sent the url to H&H, but let me know if you can't find it and I'll PM it to you.
I have had times when I worried about Jay commiting suicide, but on the right meds (which takes time and changes to figure out) he does pretty well. Still, there are times I worry when I hear a certain tone in his voice or a particularly depressed comment. It is hard. A constant worry in one way or another. But - in sickness and in health. I love him and know that he can be happy in his own way with the right care from me and medication from the shrink.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-21-08, 08:48 AM Kerri - glad things are looking up for him, then.. any job leads? I'll look for your blog. It's funny, I went to yahoogroups 3 times to get it and got distracted. :o I moderate freecycle lists and so when I go into yahoogroups, I usually have moderating things to do and then poof! forget.
I'm EXHAUSTED. I have to go to work now.. this will be an insane week, though. Oh well.. keeps me out of trouble, right? :)
Corinna
stickn2it 04-21-08, 06:02 PM Just passing through to say hi and see how your weekend went. Have a great week!!
Corinna 04-21-08, 09:01 PM I had the weirdest call tonight. The man who was instrumental in my demise at the ball bearing place called me to offer me a job.
purplepuma 04-22-08, 08:31 AM Hi Corinna, just dropping by to say that every time I see the title of your journal on the front page, I get a deserved kick in the butt -- thank you for the constant reminders!!!
And I do love your signature quotes too. :) Off to look for ways (as opposed to excuses), have a good day!
Thanks, Cori. I don't know where things will go job-wise for Jay. He's looking for a local driving job, too. Actually, mostly. I'll explain that in my blog tonight or tomorrow, too.
Strange about the ball bearings call. Hm.
Hugs,
K
stickn2it 04-23-08, 11:09 AM Hey just passing through to say hi and see how things were going for you.
Corinna 04-23-08, 08:39 PM Puma - my pleasure. If only I lived by the nuggets of inspiration I love so much. ;)
Kerri - I went a lookin and didn't see it - tease!
Stickn - things are ok. Well, manageable.
My husband's uncle died yesterday. He's the one who had lung cancer and found out when it was waaaaaaaaaaaay too late. He lived from August until now when the doctors had given only a few weeks to live. It's still sad.
My cat pooped in the basement this morning and it was FULL of parasites.YUCK! At least we know because normally the world is his litterbox. Luckily, the vet said day old poop is ok. YUCK!
Emily has ringworm - fun times! That's actually a fungus infection on the skin, not a worm. Dr suggested she got it from the animals, but I don't think so! I checked them both out. And no one else in the family has it. Poor Emily. Yuck!
Ewwww. Parasites. I'd freak (but then I have a very annoying, neurotic thing about bugs, parasites, ect).
Yeah, I didn't make it to the blog. I did something better. I worked on my book last night a little!! Made me very happy.
Sorry about your UIL, but sounds like he hung in there a long time and was probably very ready.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 04-30-08, 11:37 PM Hey! I haven't posted in a while. Not much to say, maybe?
I ran yesterday.. it's funny, while cardio wise, it wasn't hard, I'm SORE because I couldn't cool down properly.
I need to go shopping. My bras and panties are falling apart (lovely image, eh?) and I need some capris! Thank GOD my weight is slowly going down!!!
Kerri - thanks. He said he wanted to make it to xmas and the rest was gravy.. Not too shabby! He even started acting after the new year for a while.
Corinna

mugwump 05-02-08, 11:57 AM Hey Corinna!
Sounds llike you're doin' great! I love that cartoon - I've got to show my sweetie because that's him!
Hugs
Mugs
Corinna 05-03-08, 09:15 PM Mugs - I'm doing ok - liking my new job. And I'm RUNNING! Which I am excited about.. If that's your sweeitie.. he's a skinny man! Hahaha
I had the weirdest thing happen this week while running. I was running 6/mph.. now I understand that it is what normal people run, but not me! I normally run as fast as our little Mel walks (well, I normally run 5.2.. but not much faster at all).. why is it that I can run that much fast at this new gym? I wonder if the treadmill just lies?!? I haven't run in a few weeks (before I started at abbott because my feet have been SO SORE.. I have bad work shoes!) but am still working out.. so who knows? I was also able to run for a really long time (relatively speaking.. I only have 35 minutes to workout, not including the stretching I do as I change and get my coffee while I'm back at work.. Hmph!
It's CRAZY to think of the difference of where I was to where I am now. Customer Service is normally a call centre kind of thing whereas Order Management is more behind the scenes.. You know.. paper trails, etc.. at the ball bearing place, we had the order management on top of the call centre thing. insane! I was taking 120+ calls per day and putting out fires and a bunch of other crap. And they love me at my new job. :)
And I don't hate going in every day. And my workout schedule is good.. and.. and.. and..
:)
Corinna
Things sound good, Cori. Glad to hear it. I'd just take the treadmill at it's word. You probably are doing that, just from feeling better and having the foot treatments.
Hugs,
K
I am glad everything is going so well with your new job. It is good not to dread going to work. I have been there once or twice and know how is affects your health.
Carol
mugwump 05-05-08, 08:26 PM That is :super: news! You've earned it girl. And I agree - just being happy can make you run faster. Heck - it's that 50 pounds of stress you've been carrying that was slowing you down...
Hugs
Mugs
Corinna 05-10-08, 08:05 AM Mugs - I wasn't that stressed out before. I wasn't working much! But i guess I was when I was looking for the job. Thanks for the props. :)
Carol - I hope it picks up, though. It's the slow time of year now until end of summer. *biting nails*
Kerri - it's just an iomprovement I have NEVER seen before, even 30 pounds lighter.. That is odd for me.
Sounds like things are going well in Cori's world. Glad to hear it! (except for that darn ringworm! did you get rid of that??) I'm glad you seem to be enjoying your new job. :)
Hope you have a great Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day, my friend.
Hugs,
K
chumlette 05-11-08, 12:18 PM Happy Mother's Day, Cori!
Sounds like the new job and your exercise are both going well. Isn't it nice to feel optimistic? Don't be so worried it will all fall apart. Maybe you should just, I don't know, ENJOY it? heh
Hope you have a nice day!
Corinna 05-16-08, 12:28 AM I'm.. so... tired..
must sleep.
Hello, friends! Goodnight, Friends!
I'm sure you're swamped with the new job and your SU! stuff. Hope you rested well.
hugs,
K
Corinna 05-19-08, 01:54 PM Kerri - very busy.. I have been offering more expensive classes and they have been FILLING up! work is work.. I am TRYING to keep my blinders up because there are some dumbasses in my department.
Chumlette - My problem is I get overwhelming urges to goof off.. It's almost compulsive. So I don't check my email at work. That way, if I _need_ to google something personal, it isn't on top of checking my email. But so far, they love me.. Hard not to when there are dumbasses in your dept. Hehehe..
I saw a psychologist last week. She said that I need to keep my blinders up and pull my highly developed social antennae in. It's hard when Contract girl sends me an email outlining just how much her and temp boy are goofing off. But! I'm happily busier and able to focus on my tasks and not how others aren't doing what I was told not to touch because temp boy should really do it. She did give me a saying to say that helps. A mantra of sorts.. "An honest days work for an honest pay". I realized that I do make less than at my last job.. I forgot about the being on call. That being said, I am making much more with SU! now.. but my sales are down. Hmph! But what is more important? Being able to make $300 in 6 hours with my kids home (and/or taking the classes with me) or going out and making $300 in 6 hours without my kids around, etc.
Or something like that. My goal isn't to achieve what SU! thinks I should. I need to make money and have fun doing it!
That being said, I do need 2 more recruits.
But now I am babbling.
I did go to the gym this weekend. I stepped and did weights yesterday and stepped and did abs today (despite having done it yesterday).. then stretched. I am thinking of going for a run later with Hope.. but it is the May two four weekend.. and that means I should be in my garden.
I have to be more kind to my back as it's sore.. which means slowing down a bit and doing stuff for my back.. like walking and stretching and more ab exercises.. hmph. And stretching during the day. I'm like a cat at work already with stretching my calves.. Oh well.
I need a bath! Emily is coming with me. It'll be WAY TOO SOON before she'll be too old to take a bath with her mommy. :c(
Corinna
stickn2it 05-20-08, 10:27 AM Just popping in to see how you were. It's been a while since I have came by to read up on the events of your life. You sound busy, busy. You're like "superwoman". Keep up the good work, and yes...do be kind to your back.
Amarantha 05-20-08, 12:04 PM  Hi, Corinna!!! You have such a great attitude and take on things. Sounds like overall the job and life in general are moving along nicely! You are doin' super. I like your honest day's pay mantra! :cheer:
The blinders thing sounds like good advice. I don't tend to want to goof off, but I get really irritated when people don't do their jobs. I was a major workaholic before motherhood and some of that still shines through (for example, I work 45 minutes or more extra that I don't get paid for every day). It's hard when you know you are accomplishing more than some co-workers. I'm lucky that I only have a few people who don't want to work hard around me. Most of them do.
Glad the SU! classes are going so well. But I'm not surprised. You are so creative!

Corinna 05-20-08, 08:48 PM I had a killer workout tonight.. It's funny.. it didn't feel that insane at the time.. Then again, the fact that I was sweating like Ted Stryker in Airplane II when the plane is approaching the sun should have been a sign.. but I am spent! LOVE IT!
Food's good today, too.. It was a good day.
Kerri - I'm a hard worker.. but I believe in balance. When I'm not goofing off, that is.. Heh.
Amar- Thanks, m'lady.. When I grow up, I want to have lost 100 lbs just like you! (well, not 100.. but close!!) You rock!
Stickn - thanks for the visit. I am not superwoman.. just trying to find balance. I will let you know if I find it. Hehehe..
Emily needs to go to bed now.
Corinna
Corinna 05-20-08, 10:30 PM From Sparkpeople today:
When you stand still, you reject the struggle, and you refuse to change and grow. Ultimately, you reject fulfillment, happiness, the dance for joy and everything else that is eternally good.
- Matthew Kelly, classical actor and game show host
Taking the path to personal growth
Action is the only way anything ever gets done. Sitting around and waiting for life to happen to you will only guarantee one thing: that you're not going to end up with a life you love. By waiting, you can react to what's tossed your way and nothing more. It's easy to take a passive approach to life without taking chances. It's easy to fall into a rut and do the same things the same way all the time. Change is sometimes hard, but it's change that will reveal all the wonders that life has to offer. You can break out of your set ways by taking action. Try doing the same thing a different way. Jump in with both feet and learn something new. Ask a friend to teach you a skill they're good at. Grow as a person and your world grows with you.
Corinna 05-23-08, 11:17 PM Had a KILLER workout tonight. Love it!
Belle was spayed today - she is so out of it.. poor thing.
Corinna 05-24-08, 01:02 AM Kerri - I hope you and yours are ok after the storms in Colorado!
chumlette 05-24-08, 01:49 PM Congrats on the good workouts!
stickn2it 05-25-08, 11:01 PM Hey there, yeah definitely let me know if you find that thing called "balance"...lol. I have heard of it before, but not sure that I have actually found it or figured it out. Have a great weekend and holiday.
Corinna 05-27-08, 09:11 PM Stickin - Our holiday was the weekend before.. but thanks! I don't know balance that well. Actually, that's not true. I am happiest when I'm go go go with some give. I don't like not being on the go.. but I don't like having no give in my schedule, too.
Chum - Thanks!
My daughter is 5'7.. I just measured her.. this means she's grown 3 inches this year so far.. it also means she's an inch shorter than I am. That's just CRAZY!
Hi Cori. Thanks for following up on me after our recent tornados. As you know, they were 60+ miles from us.
Rachel is measuring in at 5'6". She's slowing down some now, thankfully. But it's hard to brush her hair when she's standing. Another couple of inches and I'll need to have her sit down to brush it. How is your beautiful Belle doing? Feeling better, I hope.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 05-30-08, 12:56 AM Oddly, I thought I replied to this..
Kerri - I would have thought R would be like 5'9 by now.. she was taller than K for a while and you're so tall, aren't you? Kaitlin hasn't started her period yet.. I think that when you get it is when most girls slow down the growth rate. I did her BMI and it's good to see she's at a good place because isn't a small girl at all. Her weight is in the 70th percentile. I was shocked!
So Kaitlin was supposed to FINALLY meet her new paediatrician today.. but alas! Her EQAO testing was today... which is stupid. Now what are they going to do for the rest of the year?! They end school end of June!! *sigh*
I need to go to bed.
She's definitely slowed down in her growth and she's had her period for over a year now. I was about 5' 10 & 3/4 inches in school and my 20's but I've lost some height with my back issues and I'm now only 5'9". Too bad. Now that I'm old enough to appreciate being tall, I'm shrinking. Go figure. Rachel's weight fluctuates all year. Now that summer is coming, she'll slim down more because of swim team. She's not bad right now, though, as she's been playing kickball everyday since the weather has been nice, so lots of exercise.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 05-30-08, 11:38 PM I have to admit, I was worried because she wasn't fitting into a size 5. But she fits into Gap, Old Navy and the people who vanity size 5. I guess it makes her a 7? I dunno. I'm happy K hasn't started her period.. That's a whole lot of hormones I can do without for another while yet. So you aren't much taller than I am.. For some reason I thought you were 6' tall.
Kerri looks 7 feet tall to me! hahaha I'm only 5'2", so I was really looking up at her!
Rachel and Kaitlyn aren't old enough for all this puberty stuff! They're little girls, aren't they??? How time flies. :(
You thought I was taller because you knew me when I was still taller, Cori. I've only been measuring in this short for a couple of years. I think I made a big, whiny deal about it when I started shrinking.
Mel, I remember thinking about resting my arm on your head - LOL. Not really! But yes, my girl is dealing with all that (and so is her mom *sigh*). She's very grown up looking these days. You'd be surprised.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-02-08, 11:45 PM We wouldn't be surprised if you included pictures.. I'm just saying!
Had a good workout... Only my tummy was bothering me. Hmph!
Actually, I posted a pic of her at my blog from Thursday. It's she and I, in fact. So go have a peek.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-08-08, 10:38 AM Kerri - I went and saw - very beautiful! :) She looks like her mama.
So Belle's incision seems to not be healing well. Ummm, yay?
I am exhausted. I stayed up way too late watching tv (which is what I always do when I watch tv.. will I ever learn? LIkely, no)..
Food is good.. Gym has been a miss most of this past week because of family demands (dang it!!)..
Off to shop!
Corinna 06-08-08, 11:00 AM did I mention I oined WW again? :)
Amarantha 06-08-08, 05:12 PM WW is a good program, Corinna. Congratulations on joining up with them again! You have a great attitude! Huzzah!
Oh, how I wish I could rejoin WW. But same old, same old here for a while yet. Not in the cards.
Thank you for the comment on the pic. Of course, my girl is lovely to me always. I, too, have an issue with TV or the computer keeping me up later than I intend sometimes. Must learn to get to bed. So I'm heading there soon.
You'll get the workouts going again. My folks are here!!! Believe it or not considering their condition earlier this year. Never thought they'd be able to travel again. So, I put off beginning my exercise program over the weekend and am getting going, slowly, again on Monday. Feels very good to know I have the time (and not seriously painful feet) again.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-09-08, 09:43 PM That's awesome that they are up to visiting! You're right, it's a crazy difference from last time (I thought that was last summer.. did something else happen?).. That's great! :)
Ready to kill them yet? Hehehe
I had a good day. Whoot for me!
Yay for good days!!
Last year just ran together for me. I just remember having to pull Rachel out of school and missing work there myself when we went down for her surgery. I was thinking it was February - but you know, that illness went on for months and months. It all runs together after bit.
They are staying with my brother who has a main level guest room, so no, I'm not ready to kill them. I'm not seeing them every day. We are going for the whole day tomorrow and possibly on Thursday again, then the weekend for Father's Day. It's just enough. They'll be here until the 23rd of June, I think, then on to Indiana where they were born and raised and we have family there still.
Hugs,
K
hi Cori,
havent seen a post from you for a few days..just stopping in to say g'day and see how you are doing.
How are you liking ww this time??? is it still the points or core????
hugs bell :)
Corinna 06-16-08, 11:34 PM Sorry! Was away.. tired. Heeeeeectic weekend. longer week, then another hectic weekend coming up.. then the long weekend (Canada Day) and we;re camping. Whee!
Well have fun on the camping trip!
hugs,
K
Corinna 06-17-08, 07:54 AM Heh - it isnt for 2 weeks, Kerri..
This time of year is always SO hectic!
Ah, well, see what happens when I'm catching up on e-mail way too late?
I hear you about things being hectic. I've been in heaven since school got out and I've had time to take a breath.
Hugs,
K
Amarantha 06-18-08, 08:17 AM Enjoy your upcoming camping trip, Corinna!
Corinna 06-18-08, 09:54 PM Got the psycho-ed eval today. Kaitlin is actually VERY intelligent and does not suffer from a learning disability other than ADHD.. But! The ADHD has her working memory running VERY low.
I'll explain more after my next meeting at school.. It's hard for me to go from French to English so I'll stay in a french mindset until then. Makes my life easier.
Well, that's another step toward helping her to achieve all she wants to. I'm really happy for her that you've been able to get the school and health care system to work with you guys.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-19-08, 11:39 PM Yeah, we'll see what tomorrow brings. I have another appointment at the school.. then I can let my brain translate. I tried a couple of times.. they never switched to English for me.. The bastards! (Dang Dan for not coming) hehee
I have fluidity to my French in many things, but not all things.
Hey, you're doing better than I am. I don't speak any foreign language. In fact, in hicksville where I grew up, they didn't even offer one.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-20-08, 08:42 AM Kerri - it's not a foreign language for me. I grew up in Quebec, which is french.. but have an english family.. but Canada has two official languages. English and French. :) I was barely offered English as a kid.. but that was politically driven.
Corinna 06-21-08, 12:39 AM So Kaitlin is in the 79th percentile cognitively.. which means she is more intelligent than 79% of her peers. This SHOCKED us. 25-75 is considered normal.. so she's WELL above average.. but! Her working memory is 27% and that was medicated. The gap between the two is why I am so shocked. We knew she wasn't dumb.. but to be gifted and just not doing well in school is well.. what it is. Not sure what to do with that information. I do not know what her IQ is because they never quantified it to me that way.
Her meds aren't working for her. We need to find more help for her. We decided to keep her in elementary school to let her mature and not get the snot beaten out of her. The high school has better services.. band, drama, improv and other things Kaitlin would LOVE but she has the maturity of an 8 or 9 year old in some ways (bringing dolls to school) and would you send an 8 year old into a high school environment?
One of Kaitlin's good friends, Ginelle, is staying at SJA (Ste-Jeanne-d'arc) and she is a sweet girl. I said that it broke K's heart they weren't in the same class and I was promised that they would be next year. and they will likely allow them to sit together as long as Ginelle promises to check K's agenda and some other things.
Other good news.. she won't have a resource teacher anymore. It hurts their esteem when they are pulled out of class to go with the bobo teacher. She doesn't need the service anymore because she does not have a learning disability. ADHD is considered behavioural in a how to serve the children kind of way. Well.. if she works hard, she won't be pulled anymore. I don't know..
They mentioned "des services de comportement" on Wednesday... then yesterday I'm like wait.. comportement? That behavriour.. DUDE! Is that behavioural therapy? Alas, it is not. It's behavioural coaching of sorts.. But! She gets it at SJA and not SF (Ste-Famille)... Not sure why since grade 7 is 7 no matter where she goes.
So I registered her last week at SF which is the HS and sent my cheque and then the committee/psycho-ed people convinced me to convince Dan to have K stay at SJA (I always thought she should).. so I did and she is.. then the VP at the school (who is going to SF next year) said that I should let K go to SF.. I'm like.. ok.. that's enough.. I am not changing my mind AGAIN and I don't need to hear this. I agree the services are better.. but she needs to mature. Maybe for grade 8, we'll see.
I spoke to the VP today because K got punched in the face yesterday and nothing was done about it and I wanted to find out why my kid felt like adults weren't listening. It wasn't the case. End of school year means lots of misbehaving children so there was a loooooooog line ahead of K's issue. The kid is punished. Life is good.
Bedtime! I have to set up for a sale tomorrow morning at like 7am. Blech!
Corinna
Oh my gosh, Cori. What a huge handful of things to deal with - some good and reaffirming, but some really difficult. I think the big thing here is that it is being addressed and they are working with you, trying to do what is best and right for Kaitlin. Poor girl. I hope things start to smooth out more for her.
As for the double language in Canada, you could almost say we are English and Spanish here - lol. No kidding, though. Lots and lots of spanish speaking people here. I don't know if there are so many in the Eastern U.S., but certainly there are out west here. Many of them are Spanish only speakers and I had a number of kids whom I had to call and speak to someone other than mom or dad because they spoke no English at all. It does complicate things.
Anyway, I'm keeping your girl in my prayers that all works well and helps her in the way she needs it to.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-23-08, 01:50 AM I just found out that a friend was diagnosed with leukemia last December. :(
Corinna 06-23-08, 08:42 AM Kerri - Yeah.. there really is a lot of Spanish in most of the US.. Far more than there is French here. I understand a lot of spanish because of my french but couldn't put a sentence together. And I found out in mexico that just because I know what you mean, if I answer in French, doesn't mean you understand me. (frustrating when one has lost their luggage!!)
Oh! They fired temp boy on Friday.. did I mentioned that?
Corinna 06-23-08, 10:06 PM I'm waiting for Belle to bark - she has a shock collar on. Umm.. whee?
Sorry about your friend, Cori. Prayers that they are able to go into remission.
I'm surprised knowing French helps with Spanish. I'd think other languages are closer - maybe Italian? I don't know. But it's pretty funny about trying to get your luggage by speaking French to them - lol.
I take it you disliked temp boy?
Oh, poor Belle! Is she a problem barker?
Hugs,
K
stickn2it 06-24-08, 10:52 AM Corinna-sorry to hear about your friend. What type of dog is Belle?
I've seen kids like Kaitlin many times before. In fact, I was like her too. They had me on ritalin by the second grade, because of how disruptive I was in class. When they tested me, they found out that I was a little above average, and they figured out that the best way to handle me was to keep me busy both mentally AND physically. I've seen this many times before with other kids too. There were two tracks that I saw the best results.
The first is putting them into advanced and self-paced classes, often with fewer children per class, and that allows them to get up and move around to do thier studies (within reason - they have to be going TO GET or TO DO something). Putting hyper and smarter kids into a super-structured advanced system works most of the time as well, but with the wrong instructor atmosphere, can also backfire in a big way. You don't want all that energy pointed towards hating school and authority. In this type of environment, she can learn lots of things that will not automatically make her advance grades too many times, so that she can remain around people of her own maturity level. My niece is in similar classes these days, and they have her taking extra self-research and report classes about science and art, and extra foreign language classes are a big hit as well. They had her reading novels in French for children, and doing verbal reports on the novel in both English and French. Stuff like that. Her extra studies do not advance her grade if my sister does not want that, and they also pay attention to making sure that they can pass the state tests for their grade.
The second option is what they did for me, and many of the kids that I knew with this sort of thing back in the 1970s. We moved around a lot, and programs like the ones above usually have a local waiting list of at least a year, and we were rarely in the same school system two years in-a-row. Everywhere that we moved, my mom tried to get them to put me into harder classes, and to get the teachers to make my hyperactivity work for them. Not always the "teacher's pet"...in many cases the teacher hated my guts, but would do anything to keep me quiet and/or doing someting productive. I was kept busy doing things like running errands to other teachers, the guidance office or principal, getting audio-visual equipment (I would go get it, but most did not trust me to run it...:D), helping to set up the next gym/science project studty area, etc. There was some jeleously from other kids, but they soon figured out that I COULD NOT sit still for that long without freaking out. After a couple of hours, one teacher said something like I was a verbal AND physical volcano of super-loud fun. No matter what she did to stop it.:o Ummm...they tried to keep me busy.
A combination of the above also works great. It takes a lot of energy from the instructors, but I think that every kid is worth it. I think that just about every kid needs and deserves an extra SOMETHING to learn to handle their own strengths and weaknesses. Athletic kids need lots of extra coaching time, social kids need lots of extra social validation feedback for what is acceptable and not, kids with learning disabilities need more time at school, kids with generally lower IQs can definitely become PhDs with a little extra attention early on from adults to help perfect their learning skills, completely "average" kids need extra time from many different areas...because they are generally good at everything, etc.
I mentioned myself so much, because Kaitlin sounds a little bit like me. Ritilin helped me a lot at first, but it also has some pretty serious side-effects. Like when I was on ritalin, I only slept for 2-3 hours a night, was prone to brooding and depression over the long-term, etc. Also be aware that more kids than you think that are diagnosed with ADHD "physically" out-grow it. The biggest clue, unfortunately, is when a person with ADHD starts putting on serious weight just before or after puberty. Their body is no longer ADHD, but many of us already have our major mental pathways set. We flit from subject to subject, connecting ideas from many places, find it hard to stay focussed on one thing...only now, we do it sitting on the couch like a bump-on-a-log, instead of running around and never sitting still.
Sorry so long. This subject struck a cord. Make sure to listen to your own gut at least as much as what the "experts" tell you. Some of the stuff that they told my mom to do for me, and my sister to do for my niece would have backfired BIG TIME. It all depends on the kid, and the dynamic with the individual instructors involved. For instance, some subjects require structure for the kid to "get" them...for me that was math and spelling. I had more significant behavior problems with my spelling instructors (lots of "sit down and shut up", memorize this "QUIETLY" over the next 2 hours and then a quiz at the end of class type of instructors), and can't spell worth a damn to this day. I had a few good math teachers, and was able to work through the structured-time aspect of the subject enough to at least make good grades at math, even in college.
I can't shut up. Sorry. I saw so many friends like I was that ended up hating school and authority, because of how things were handled. In some cases, it was such a waste. meh.
Corinna 06-24-08, 09:36 PM Thanks for the support, my friends! I hope he's ok, too.
Fagan - Kaitlin has the inattentive type, not hyper _at all_. She's not even really a daydreamer.. that is why I was so shocked at her IQ. It's hard to explain.. but I do appreciate the input a lot. I'm open to most anything.
Stickn - Thanks. Belle a is a great pyranees
Corinna 06-24-08, 09:47 PM Kerri - they are both latin based.. that would be why they are so close. Italian is close to french, too.. they have some of the same language rules. And yes, Belle is very territorial.
I have a lump on my back that I am going to the doctor about tomorrow. According to the internet, it should be a benign tumour.. but I'll go get it checked out.. because it hurts, dang it!
Glad you're having that bump checked out ASAP. That's probably all it is, but best not to wait around.
Fagan had such good advice and info for you, even if it doesn't totally fit Kaitlin. The best advice, follow your gut instinct.
Daisy does a lot of barking but I've been watching a bunch of episodes of The Dog Whisperer and using some of his techniques that have seemed to help. Shoot, she barks when someone just walks by the house. Very annoying and it makes me a bit mad. Other than that, our poor old dog is getting old as far as being crippled up in her back legs. We're giving her some stuff to help, but I really don't think she'll live a lot longer. Of course, I'm caught up in the love/hate relationship with her. I think that's a prerequisite to being a dog owner......or maybe just for someone like me who thinks an active child, a dog, two cats and a husband that's gone all the time makes life busy.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 06-25-08, 08:36 AM Wow! We have known each other a loooooooooong time. I remember that dog entering your life! Poor Daisy.
Belle thinks everything in eyesight is her territory, which is bad for the kids who live near me.
The lump ended up being an abcess.. I know this because it all came to a head yesterday - HA! And yet.. it's still there and more sore.. so I likely need antibiotics. But it was the size of a golf ball.. and right on my bra line.
Ok, off to start my day
Hey Corinna,
Glad the lump was just an absess but sorry it is bothering you so much. And what a horrible place to have it, on the bra line, ouch. Hope it clears up soon.
Corinna 06-26-08, 12:57 AM it's a boil! I'm a witch. Whoot!
(and dang! It still hurts)
I keep thinking maybe I will reinact the scene from Aliens where the alien comes out of his stomach.. only my alien love child will come out of my back. Yuck.
Crazy - thanks. I knew what it was (even if not by name!) when I was at the gym and felt it sting in that way that boils/abscesses do.
Day 2 of being OP and working out really hard. Go me! My goal is for 7... well, 9 actually, since I want to go to my next WW meeting having a good loss again. I weigh in tomorrow(for those of you keeping track at home). So far, so good.. and believe it or not, I am counting points! I will switch to core.. but am getting my head into the game first.
I should go to bed! GAH! It's late.
Ew, boils are painful. I've never had one but my mom has had a few and one was so bad she darn near passed out from the pain. Of course, she was trying to drain it at the time - ahem. I'm sure the Dr. will give you antibiotics for it, though.
Weigh to go staying OP! WW makes such a huge difference because you really want to show them/everyone you can do it. You'll see some big changes over the next few months.
Hugs,
K
jessica 06-26-08, 02:53 PM Yay, OP!! (not so yay, boil!!!)
Corinna 06-26-08, 10:48 PM Day 3 OP. Whoot! I was down a whopping .2 this week.. but in my defense.. I am sick with an alien love child growing inside of me..
Kerri - this thing is the size of a golf ball.. But I started the meds for it. Nothing like a giant pusball to make you feel sexy.
Jessica- thanks
Um, yeah....sexy. *cough, cough* LOL
Hugs,
K
Corinna 07-02-08, 12:01 AM so.. tired
Sleep, my friend.
Hugs,
K
I know this is Cori's journal, but I was also hoping to catch Kerri here too. Thought I'd pass on this terrible news. Tammy's husband Bob passed away today. He had been in the hospital about 6 mo. ago with a liver problem and had been doing fairly well until the last month or two. He went in the hospital again on Thursday, but his passing was rather unexpected. That is all I know.
Corinna 07-06-08, 02:50 PM OH NO!!! That is horrible news. :( Thank you for letting me know. That is awful.
Corinna 07-07-08, 10:51 PM I'm back to day 1 today. I get 29 points plus I ate 4 of my APs today. *urp* Actually, I have 1.5 points left. I think I might have an apple and a Vache qui rit cheese. (Laughing Cow?)
I'm following flex, but am trying to choose as many core foods as I can.. just because it's healthier. but! I find it very convenient to eat the frozen dinners. :)
Again, going for 7 days.
I did step tonight. I wonder how much the extra 70 lbs on my body makes me sweat - must be a lot. *sigh*
I should go to bed.
Corinna
Thank you, Mel, for letting Cori and I know. I've kept in touch via e-mail with Tammy and got the e-mail from her. Wish there was something I could do. She's in shock, poor thing. Heartbreaking. Hope Tim is holding up okay.
Sorry for the hi-jack, Cori.
Good for you staying OP last week and going another round. You can do it!
Hugs,
K
I thought you might have heard, Kerri. I knew you and Tammy kept in touch - she would mention it every once in a while.
Tammy and Tim are really close and I know Tim won't want to leave his mom in the fall to return to college. But I also know Tammy will insist he go! I really wanted to go to the funeral home last night, but there was no way to work it out. My boss is on vacation and there was no one to trade shifts with. :( But I think I'll go down to see Tammy in a few weeks. Even if we just have lunch and spend the afternoon together. I feel so bad for her. :sigh:
:hijacked: Sorry, Cori. :D
Again, going for 7 days
YOU CAN DO IT! :mus:
That would be wonderful, Mel, to visit with her. She says she and Tim are both coping pretty well, but it's when everything begins to settle in that it can hit home. Give her a hug for me.
Cori, hope all is going well and you are managing to stay OP for your 7 day goal!
Hugs,
K
Tammy said that they had a trip to Mackinac planned before all this happened and her and Tim are still planning to go. I believe it's next week. So that will be nice for her and Tim to just be alone. Friends are great to have around, but it will be nice for her and Tim just to 'veg' together.
With Miranda's wedding coming up so quickly and Tim going back to school soon, I may just wait till September to go see her. But I may be able to slip it in there sooner than that too! We'll see.
Oh, the trip away will do them both good. I'm glad they are still going.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 07-14-08, 09:18 PM I didn't stay OP the whole time, because my period happened.. I'm so good when OP.. but when OFF plan, I just don't count/pay attention and only remember AFTER. Gah! I am down, though.
So far today I have eaten my 29 points (jealous, Mel?) but have half of my APs to eat and since I earned 11, I have a whole other meal to eat. Whoot! Hehehe.. I am hungry, so will likely eat a banana, an apple and a glass of milk.
I ate the Smart Ones santa fe rice and beans for dinner.. That was quite tasty!
Miranda's too young to get married, dang it!! X-(
I have a new look to my website! I am excited. www.stamptopia.com
Hi Cori.. Very pretty pic of you in your Stamptopia..
Corinna 07-14-08, 11:07 PM Thanks, lulu - amazing what a professional makeup artist can do, eh? Hahahaha
I got a cute joke email today:
Who really is your best friend?
Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for an hour.
When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you?
[Please note: I left this email in its original form because if I swapped
'wife' for husband', the answer might still be the same but the effect
lost because the husband would most likely be sleeping.]
Good joke (and so true). Love the new site but am anxiously waiting to see some of the beautiful cards you do.
Sorry about the struggle to stay OP. I'm off and on again, but at least I am now making an effort. I must be PMS'ing as I had a couple of very teary days. Hate that. Too bad there is no one's neck to wring......*sigh*
Yeah, when I read Mel's post about Miranda getting married, I thought, "What the heck!?!?!?!" Dang, we are getting old.......
Hugs,
K
Cori.. I think you are pretty darn pretty any hoots.. whether you had professional makeup artist or not.. hmmmmm..wonder what I would look like with the help of one of those..
Loved that joke. ...Thanks for the laugh.. You have a great day :)
Amarantha 07-15-08, 11:29 AM Hi, Corinna! You look great and have a super attitude. I like your joke! Have a good day! :)
Hi Cori,
I clicked on your link but could not find your pic. How do I find it?
Carol
Corinna 07-16-08, 09:05 AM So.. busy! Sorry about that - will reply later. Been busy with my blog and work and my business and working out and the family.
I need balance.. which in my mind means I need a wife!
You could clone yourself. Let me know how that works out - lol.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 07-17-08, 08:37 PM Kerri - that's BRILLIANT! I could doubly nag Dan. *evil laugh*
Corinna 07-17-08, 09:12 PM Carol - I don't know why you don't see it - it's a big picture of me (well a picture of a scrapbooking page of me) on the upper right corner.
Amara- Thanks!
Kerri - I have been doing well lately, which is good. One day at a time and all that jazz!
Lulu - Well, look at the stars without make up .. We could all look hot! :)
What a stressful day. Yesterday, too.. What did I eat to help the day? baby carrots. The crunch sure does help!
Corinna
If I had a clone, she'd do all the housework.....That's what I did most of today (that and decluttering for a yard sale).
Weigh to go on staying OP.
Hugs,
K
Upper right corner is trying to get me to subscribe to this site, etc. All info about the site.
Hope you have a good week-end.
Carol
Clone? I vote for an unlimited supply of cash for servants and "handlers" to do everything but the stuff that we wanted to do. Too bad we all can't be born super-rich or a rock-star....
Have a great weekend. I hope that you get some chill-time.
Corinna 07-19-08, 10:16 AM Heh - I don't know if I would want to watch myself do stupid things. I'm with Fagan! I need servants and handlers. :)
Fagan - Does painting count as chill out time? ;)
Carol - and you are going to www.stamptopia.com? What browser are you using?
Kerri - I would be creeped out by a clone. Hehehe..
Yeah, the more I think about it, the less I'd want to see another me walking around and slaving. Guess I'd have to go with you and Fagan on that one, too. Let me know if you figure out how to become super rich overnight.
Hugs,
K
Corinna 07-20-08, 05:34 PM Hot firemen would work as gimp-slaves. *drool*
Mmmm.. with a nice french or new zealand accent.
Ok - spent FOUR HOURS looking for the crap to paint with. GAH! I mean, they had it in each store I went to.. but I was being picky...
Hrm.. do I paint one room and then the other or do both livingroom and diningroom at the same time? They will be the same colour. Decisions!
Time to start moving furniture and washing walls.. Umm.. whee?
Corinna 07-20-08, 10:45 PM I washed my livingroom walls (after moving furniture, of course!) and primed the walls. Which is all fun and games until you get paint in your eyes. I have been on the go since 8am and it's 9:49. I did two classes at the gym. Step and weights.. Then I shopped for FOUR HOURS.. then washed walls and painted.
Now I'm having dinner.
aussie accents can be quite nice although kiwi accents (NZ) are pretty sexy too!
Happy painting!!!
hugs bell :)
Corinna 07-21-08, 09:00 AM Bell - some, yes.. Others are like "WTF did you just say?" One of the guys on your Biggest Loser show had that accent. But yes, Aussie's can have a "soothing voice".
Life lesson for July 21, 2008: If you workout for two hours then shop (hard) for 4 hours and then wash walls and paint for 4 hours, you will be sore the next day..
Yeah, sore - Duh. When I was reading about your day, I'm thinking dang she's gonna hurt! What were you thinking?!?!?! Just a glutton for punishment, I guess.
I like those Aussie/Kiwi accents, too. I had some friends a few years back and the wife was Jamacian and the husband Irish. Now those two were hard to understand! Especially when they were talking at the same time. And Oliver sort of mumbled, too. I hardly ever understood anything he said - lol.
So, is the painting done?
Hugs,
K
