Kendra77 04-10-08, 11:13 AM YAY! I've missed you!
Yogi-girl 04-12-08, 09:26 AM Hi Vickie and Kendra! Awe...visitors and my journal isn't even up and running yet! I just love diettalk and all you guys here! Well, first things first, I must change my stats to reflect where I'm at right NOW!
Weight today (no excuses) 171.1
Ok, now, this may seem like I've learned nothing...lol, but I really have! I've learned that I can NOT just quit, give up, avoid reality, etc...which is basically what I've done over the last several months. I started the New Year off with the best of intentions, but I've given up all along the way and sometimes just for a mere whim..."oh it's friday...oh, it would just be fun to, oh, it's my TOM, etc...."
SO, what I've really tried to focus on the past couple of weeks, in my moments of weakness, is visualizing myself back down to the most healthy weight for me. This is an easy thing for me to do since I WAS that weight two and a half years ago!
I'm NOT going to be in a hurry, also a HUGE mistake of mine. I'm going to really try to focus on exercise more, I realize that if it's important to me, I need to make it a priority and squeeze it in to my day wherever it can fit!
Healthy eating and exercise makes me feel so much better inside and out (we all know this) I just need to reafirm this daily! Getting my necessary 8 hours of sleep a night is also important to my overall health.
SO, my main things that I've learned I need to do for my sanity....are...
SLOW DOWN in my urge to lose weight....I am now going to focus on overall health!!!! Mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional!
Mentally....NOT restrict myself to such an extreme (ex...1200 calories on a day that I spend two hours at the gym, two hours in class, and nine hours working...lol) To get sufficient sleep, to spend time with friends or family or husband when I"m upset about things, talking instead of eating...
Physically Make time EVERY Day for exercise....organized and PREPLANNED exercise at least 4 days a week, and on days that I can't fit in chunks of time to exercise..I will make sure to squeeze in jump roping or lunges or push ups...etc....EVERY day there needs to be an awareness of exercise to keep my body fit or get it in better shape!
Spiritually To NOT lax on my prayers in the morning, they help to ground me for the day, connect me with God first thing in the morning, and I"m off to a good start! Also to attend church 3 our of 4 weeks a month, this gives me such a lift to my week, it recharges my batteries, gets my focus on God and others around me and off myself...this is always a good thing! (and my kids love going too...and hubby...and the family that prays together...stays together!) :)
Emotional I am going to remember to tell myself daily, that I am not here to please everyone! It is IMPOSSIBLE! I CAN NOT make everyone like me, and thats ok! I need to remember and focus on what is important in life, and liking myself, right here, right now...or I will not be able to continue to move forward. (i haven't been moving forward...not really....and I really believe this is a big part of it!) I need to accept myself as I am now,...inside and out, before I can make changes that will stick from day to day! :) I really like this last one! The last couple of weeks I have really enjoyed this frame of thought, but can I just say...my TOM (which started two days ago) sorta through this mentality off kilter...ANY SUGGESTIONS???? lol...seriously! Is there an herbal remedy for when your hormones throw you off wack? I'm better now...but the first couple of days...ick...I've got my mojo back now though....
So, thats the best way to explain what has been rolling around in my head!
I just could not stay away from diet talk for too long...and I'm so very thanful for this site! :)
It's a rainy drizzly cold weekend here! Just got back from getting a large load of very healthy groceries...I'll be back later to post more here and in other peoples journals! :) I plan on posting my food in here daily, and my exercise....gonna start some tickers just to keep track of my exercise.....
Yogi-girl 04-15-08, 08:12 PM Happy Tuesday everyone! :)
weight today 170.7 it's a drop, right? :)
MUST share about my class...I have the highest grade in the class! :) wooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooooo! I was at class last night and the instructor handed out our grade list for the semester, and it had all of our assingments listed with our potential points for that assingment and our earned points...and I noticed that there were three assingments that said not submitted??? what the heck? everything else I had received all the possible points on....so I asked my teacher if it was too late to hand the other (small little pidly assinments) in and still get some points for them, and he told me I could, but I really didn't need to worry about it, that as long as I turn in my last two assingments and get a decent grade on them I'll have over a 4.0 allready!!!! lolol...isn't that great? I didn't realize that he gave us enough work where we could miss something, or maybe not do great on something, but still get a 4.0! so...anyhow...
I've registered for Anatomy and Physiology for the summer. (4.0 credit hours) and then I just registered yesterday for the Fall. Medical Terminology, Health Carreers Math, and Applied Microbiology. (gonna be busy!)
SOOOOOOOOOOOO
the weekend was drizzly and rainy, and I do confess, to have eaten a bit more than I should....but IM BACK and I also must share a LOVELY recepie for stufed mushrooms....
4 medium button mushrooms
1 1/2 tbsp. crumbled fat-free feta cheese
2 tsp chopped flat leaf parsely
1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste...this was a bit much for me...)
Preheat oven to 425F
Lightly mist small baking dish with olive oil spray. Remove stems from mushroom by twisting each stem until it comes loose and pulls from mushroom top. Chop stems and place in small mixing bowl. Place caps in prepared baking dish stem side up.
Add cheese, parsely, oil, and cayenne pepper to bowl. Stir to mix well. Spoon mixture evenly into mushroom caps, mounding the filling on each. Bake 12-15 minutes, or until tender. Let mushrooms stand to cool slightly before serving.

been drinking all my water (10-12 glasses) every day and staying around 1200 calories. Been around 30-35 grams of fiber a day too. (lots of fruits and veggies!)
Hi ya sweetie! Glad your back. Hope all is going well for you today! :)
Yogi-girl 04-17-08, 07:27 PM Happy almost Friday! :) Hi there sunny girl! Today is a good day! Just got back from a trip to the gym with the hubby. I did.....

30 min. treadmill intervall/hills
25 min bike (8 miles)
Gonna go eat my salad and weight watcher ice cream, do some crunches....and get ready for tomorrow!
ok, fifty crunches added to my exercise. :)
I've had 14 8 ounce glasses of water, and 1300 calories for the day. 6 servings of veggies, one fruit, two dairy, and plenty of protien!
Have any of you had Cliff organic nectar cacao bars? I had one the other day, (and i'm much more of a Luna bar girl usually if I'm gonna have a bar....) but these were pretty good, and they have two servins of fruit, 160 calories, 5g fiber, and a chocolatey taste too....something different.
THE SUNSHINE has been WONDERFUL! Someday...I'd like to move to somewhere that has it MORE throughout the year...Michigan winters get a bit tiresome...don't ya think?

Yogi-girl 04-19-08, 01:36 PM I have the power to be happy!
"Lots of us think happiness is something we have to work toward or wait for. But that's just not so! Because true happiness springs from something deeper: you! (me) It's a well that never runs dry. And once you start thinking posative thoughts and noticing the small joys that others overlook, it flows!"
Kendra77 04-19-08, 01:55 PM Just saying a quick hello, i'm lurking these days but it sounds like you'e got thing going your way.
Hi Miss Happy and shrinking one! Hope your having a great weekend.
Yogi-girl 04-19-08, 06:57 PM oh...kendra...your lurking now instead of me...lol...oh...we WILL break out of this pattern! by golly....ty for visiting, even if it is from the shadows....
sunny! YES, Miss Happy! :) I like that....I can get used to that! Oh, and certainly used to the shrinking one too!!!!
Well, back home for the evening...got myself a lovely french manicure and a free pair of panties from victoria secret...dang it...I'm so busted...I just realized it....oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ok...don't laugh...but i snuck and bought a pair of tennis shoes from pennies on a credit card that I shouldn't have...kept em in the van thinking hubby wouldn't see em cause were home for the night, right? CRAP! sooooooooooo
he just ran to the store quick to buy himself a steak....i was gonna get the shoes in the am when i go to work...
HEY, it's all right...I NNNNEEEEEEDD the shoes...I've logged way to many freaking miles on my illfitting shoes that my SON GREW OUT OF...lol..
granted..I should NOT have purchased them with a credit card...thats what he's gonna be ticked about...
dang it...
lolol
oh well...
I guess I was just being negative...and sneaky...better put a buck in the negative cup for today!!!!
moving forward...(thats all we can do) I've done great with food today, 30 min upper body with weights...and lots of running around! lolol
I'll be back tomorrow!
oh, and were missing church tonight... which is sort of a bummer, but I will d/load it on my zune and listen to it at work tomorrow. we would have gone but my son is being dropped off at 6:00 tonight, (he should be here right about now actually...) and church starts at 5. oh well!
Yogi-girl 04-20-08, 05:40 AM weight today 165.7!!!!! off to work!
Hi ya happy girl. Oh the hiding of purchased items......hmmm you so in trouble, girlie,LOL.
No he probably won't say a word about it seriously. If he does just say I work remember??? Hope you don't get into too much trouble. Have a great week and thanks for the uplift! Keep on shrinking.
Yogi-girl 04-20-08, 03:32 PM Hi there! :) he heee...
ok, the deal is...if I had TOLD him...and not been sneaky about it...he wouldn't have cared...if I told him..HEY, I really need a new pair of shoes, mine are worn out...and with my exercising....I really NEED some...found a good deal, but no check book, no bank card on me...and hmmm, had my credit card, he would have been ok with it. It was the fact I knew he didn't really want me to be using credit right now, so I was sneaky about it instead of talking it out...and why? I shold have thought it through more, but I didn't. I apologized...and everything is ok now, he was just hurt that I dealt with the situation that way. I was too compulsive/impulsive...
OK, so,
a new week started today! I don't know why...but I think I'm going to start looking at Sunday as the first day of the week...maybe because we usually go to church on Saturday night? lol...I don't know....
so...
Day 1 inspirational thought....
"no one is more qualified than you to live your dreams....."
Worked five hours this morning, (nothing like working five and getting paid for 10!) Then went to town to get some overnight treatment stuff for my hair....
then went to the gym....I did....
200 jumps w/jump rope
30 min. upper and lower body with weights...(circuit stuff)
35 min. treadmill (interval hills)
40 min. bike (interval training, 13.3 miles)
Off to visit some other posts...

G'morning, Yogi. Guess you are an early riser, too. I get the day off today, so I'm hoping to enjoy the weather I missed all weekend! You sure sound busy. Maybe we ought to start a working mothers group.
Kendra77 04-21-08, 12:37 PM I think my hubby woulda been the same way about the shoes as yours as. But I have to confess, I've purchased things before a few times and told him I paid less then i did... not sure why even lol.
Yogi-girl 04-22-08, 09:10 PM 165.0 today. :(
tomorrow is another day! :)
Yogi-girl 04-23-08, 05:34 AM 165.2 I'll take it...no biggee!!!
Autumn had little league last night and had a bit of trouble with the pitching machine instead of someone slow pitching it to her....but she was a trooper...and she was so happy when she finally did get a hit!!!!
work/walk/gymnastics tonight....
Hello, Yogi! I'm planning lots of exercise for me today, since I work 12s Thursday and Friday, and I'll be lucky to squeeze in a half hour walk. Eat right today.
Yogi-girl 04-26-08, 04:58 PM Hi there! :)
Time for freaking honesty again...uggg...hate that...well...been eating awful since monday...withdraw symptoms? I don't know...grrrrrrrrr....haven't weighed myself in three days...lol...on the GOOD side of things...the kids AND me and hubby did a Borgess Run for the Health of it last night...that was fun! I ran with Autumn, hubby ran with Zack...they did it in heats separated by age so no one would get trampled...there were tons of people! I'll try and attatch pics if I can, if I can't I'll throw em in an album. That was the first time I've done anything like that...it's awesome! The whole crossing the finesh line thing...even if it was a kids race...lol...the parents were allowed to run along if they wanted....soooooooooooooo, I"m on the hunt for something...a 5 K maybe that me and hubby can work towards doing together? My inner thighs are nicely sore today....they all got ribbons regardless of when they fineshed..and little sporty water bottles and goody bags with yogurt, apples, and granola bars. We will do it again next year together..oh, they got free t-shirts too.
Today was opening day for Autumns little league and we FREAKING FROZE! We had to walk in a two mile parade to the fields where they held a half hour opening ceremony....then do their warm ups and then play the game...this took place from 8:00a.m. until the game fineshed...almost a total of 4 hours in VERY WINDY high 30's low 40's temps with no sun. the girls FROZE and got their butts whooped....they would have all had fun, (even getting their butts whooped) if they hadn't been frozen....they played another team that was almost all third grade girls with three years experience...and our team is a mix of mostly first and second grade girls...a couple third graders...and very little experience...so...I was proud of em all! :)
Gotta run, go pick up autumns friend and head to church, working tomorrow but only six hours then gonna go for a walk/jog and come home and write my last paper for this semester! I have a healthy days worth of food all planned out for tomorrow! I will weigh myself again in a couple of days, I PROMISE! :)
Enjoy the weekend!
Elijay!!!!! :) What part of Michigan are you from? Thanks so much for visiting!
Yogi-girl 04-26-08, 08:17 PM ok, the above pics are from today, the first one is me and autumn walking the parade route to the baseball field, the second one is her up at bat, and the last one is before we left the on the parade route...lol..
I'll post pics from the race tomorrow..right now I have two little girls on my laptop playing webinz...
church was good!
now hubby is quiet and moody...
uggg...
?
men
he wants me to talk to him when I'm upset...but he clams up when he's upset?
Yogi-girl 04-27-08, 02:39 PM a couple of pics from autumns gymnastics class and the fun run! :)
went 7 miles with my son today...BEAUTIFUL morning...we did walk/jogging...I"m looking into a 5K somewhere that we can get ready for!! :)
Yogi-girl 04-27-08, 06:00 PM Well, my food left a lot (of nutrition) to be desired today...BUT, I feel really good about the 7 miles me and my son walked/jogged earlier...then we just got back from an hour and a half of practicing catching, throwing, batting...etc.... with both the kids...
I'm a bit sore from the run we did allready friday night...so then to add the seven miles today, I KNOW that I need to give my body a good two days rest from jogging...I don't want to hurt myself...so, I will do some upper body weigh training and some pilates Monday and Tuesday, and then give the walk/jogging a go again Wednesday!
Sis and I are planning a little away trip this coming up weekend, I'm excited! An overnighter with my sister will be so much fun!!!! :)
Angel Eyes 04-27-08, 10:01 PM Hello, i see your busy. the pics are cute. how many calories do u aim for a day? just curious cuz i was on calorie count but i never could be sure if i was having to much or too little so i went back on ww. well i havent talked to u in so long and wanted to drop in and say hello.
Yogi-girl 04-28-08, 07:39 PM Well, Monday has come and almost gone...I just turned in my final paper via-email to save on some gas! lolol....tune in later this week to see my final grade! :)
There is a local zoo...about a 45 min. drive from here, and on june 28th they are having a Cheetah Run! I'm going to sign myself and my son up for that (get a free t-shirt and a day pass to the zoo) and my hubby and daughter up for the sloth walk...lol (2.5 mile walk...). My son and I would run a 5K!!! :) how exciting!
Great job on signing up for the 5k! Excellent! You guys will have tons of fun and it is wonderful exercise for the whole family. Your photos are so cute as always! I remember the days of splits, back bends and round offs ahhhh yes well I can almost still do the splits believe it or not and I can still do round offs. I use to tumble in the backyard of the church with the kids and they couldn't believe that I an OLD PERSON to them could do it. It was so funny. I also loved when we had the boys age 14 to 17 and they couldn't believe when we played football that I could throw like a guy so I was always a quarterback for one of the teams so funny to hear a 17 year old say no man she's on our team.
Your kids will love you getting out and doing all those things with them good memories that will last them their entire lives! You can never get that time back with them when they are little and your doing so great spending time with them and doing things everyone in the family enjoys all together. Have a great week!
Sounds like a busy, but good, weekend. Hope you are having a good week (and less overscheduled than mine, LOL)
Yogi-girl 04-30-08, 06:36 PM Hi ElJay! :) Me? overbooked? crazy notion! lolol
Well, lets see, Monday night I turned in my last paper, Tuesday I checked online for my grade and I got 50 points out of 50 for a nice pretty 4.0 in my first return to college class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooo!
O.K...so, I've been celebrating with food...STILL...ummm...pre-celebrating then post celebrating...and it could all be in my head...but just caught a glimpse of myself sideways in the mirror and OMG!!!! things seem to have grown....
SO ANYHOW....
Tuesday nights little league game was wierd...one dad who was upset that the coach was a little stern with the girls...another mom who was all pissy with the coach because the pitching machine wasn't working...blah blah...
just sit there and cheer the kids on will ya? we drove ALL the heck over town cause hubby thought the game was a few towns away (he read the schedual wrong..) but since the pitching machine WASN"T working...we made it in time for the game (started half hour late) but with the HORRIBLE price of gas...probably cost of 30. in driving! ick!
Tonight is gymnastices...will leave in about half an hour....then I"m gonna come home and do pilates, do some cleaning...and write out my grocery list before bed.
Tomorrow is Little League and gymnastics....hubby and I have yet to decide who is going with which child...lol....
Then Friday I'm going to join the kids in open gym...put on a mega sports bra and go jump on a trampoline and try to walk the balance beam...lol...SHOULD BE FUN!
I'm contemplating a "mental health day" on Friday....so I can get ready for my fun weekend with my sister!!!! I'm excited about spending the time with her...but I will miss my babies!!!!!!
O.K...off to visit a couple journals!
Sounds like my kind of day. Enjoy the chasing as much as you can.
And I thought that my life was busy! I have no idea how all of you parents DO all of that stuff. Great googly boogly. I can't keep the dandelions from completely taking over my yard...
Using food as a reward is a slippery slope for me as well. I try to avoid using food as either a reward or as punishment, whenever possible. There are exceptions...in a way. Let's say I've been very productive that day, am hot and sweaty from doing lots of house chores, and am out picking up something from the hardware store or the garden center to finish the job; and there, on the way home, is the lowfat frozen yogurt place. So...it is a reward, I guess, but I only do it if I know that I've burned off that many calories already, keep it under 200 calories (above that causes blood-sugar spike and dip binge problems for me), and it has to be non-planned and spontaneous.
This reads too preachy, teachy. Sorry. I've been having problems with this sort of stuff lately, and am preaching to myself.
Super cute pics. You guys look so happy. Not just fake smiles...like you are beaming out giddy-ness.
Have a great week, and take care.
Yogi-girl 05-02-08, 06:03 AM CFJ, Gonna have to steal "great googly boogly" from ya...my kids will love it! lolol
Let's see, I save my fake smiles for work...lol...although I don't LIKE my fake smile...it really is horrid...looks like I"m stoned or something (will scan drivers license and show ya sometime...lol)
BUT...when someone smiles at you, I almost feel obligated to return it regardless if I like the person or what I'm feeling at the moment, thus...the yucky fake smile...
IF WOMEN don't return a smile..we are "bit**es" ya know!
Anyhow...hubby took son to gymnastics last night, and I took girlie to her game...our poor girls! For the most part they are having fun...but they got stomped on again (Same team from Saturdays game) but they did good cheering each othr on. The bottom of the last inning...we had ZERO runs, the other team had too many to count...we were up to bat, bases loaded....little teeny girl gets up and smacks a good one....and I told the mom next to me it was a photo finesh between her and the girl on first base....but the other coach called her out!!!!!!!!!! Come on, these are KIDS... 1-3rd grade...you've beat us before...your gonna win tonight...you can't let us get ONE FREAKING RUN!!??? That just pissed me of...
Oh well
MENTAL HEALTH DAY PEOPLE! I always picka Friday or a Monday...hmmmm, is that obvious, do ya think?
Did awesome with food yesterday...and I will today...the real tester will be my overnighter with sis...lol!
DARN computer internet connection keeps coming in and out...so, I'm going to attempt to post this...then I"ll post more later!
I missed my son's game last night - had to work. :( But did all right food wise, so am holding my own. And I agree about the safe/out thing in little kids sports. No, they shouldn't give it away, but in a close call, let the losing side have it. Guess that's why I'd make a horrible umpire.
Yogi-girl 05-02-08, 09:11 AM O.K.! so far....
5 8oz glasses (2 bottlers) H20
30 min upper body with wieghts,
both kids have had baths...
ate my egg bts/skinny cow cheese sandwich
one small cup coffee...
off to drive the kids to school, get groceries...
then go back to daughters school for "fake" birthday celebration with cupcakes...her birthday is in the summer, and her teacher allows for parents to bring in treats on a different day so all the kids can have birthday treats...lol...
I'm making the most of my mental health day darn it!
Then, just so son doesn't feel left out, I"m going to pick him up an hour early from school to go walk/jogging with him for 4 miles.
OH, walked with the ladies after work last night, just a quick 3 miles before little league game...
GONNA start that exercise ticker/tracker later!
happy friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You go girl! Makes my Walmart run and gym plans look tame. . .
Yogi-girl 05-02-08, 11:25 AM Eljay, Oh goodness...lets see, your 12 hour days, classes, and workout...hmmm, tame I think NOT! lol
just checking in...gotta put the food away...hoping it doesn't rain and mess up the jog/walk thing...we will see...
Bought hubby a BEAUTIFUL single rose...peach-ish pinkish...is that a color? lol...left it on his windshield on his truck when I drove by where he works...he just sent me a text..."aw, ty baby! I luv u!" he heee.....
I love mental health days!
Yogi-girl 05-02-08, 06:37 PM :D
The afternoon with autumn was very nice...although, I must ADMITT....I could never be an elementry school teacher...WOW...KIDS THESE DAYS! whew! I'd have a headache daily! There were a couple of obvious ADHD kids...but in general...SO disrespectful and they just don't listen! Made me appreciate my kids all the more!
So...the pics are the girls I ate lunch with at school...and then Autumn passing out cookies and playing BINGO.
Then I went and picked my son up from school (a tad early) made a bank run, then to the trail for a quick one mile jog IN THE RAIN...but it was good...would have gone longer...but it wasn't quite warm enough to jog for long....were just starting our "training"...we need to be smart...lol...
SO, hubby grilled us up some boneless skinless chicken breast and some baked potatoes and corn on the cob...all eaten with skinny cow cheese (potatoe) can't believe it's not butter spray (corn) and Stubbs bbq sauce...(very yummy and 30 cals for 2 tbs)
so...now we are off to gymnastics!
Yogi-girl 05-03-08, 10:35 AM Lets see, I ate 1500 calories yesterday (planned 1200, and I KNOW the reason I went over was because I stayed up later watching a movie...but still...I've done MUCH WORSE staying up late...lol)
Son has his cousing spending the night...OH..I"m just waiting for my sister to get here (any minuite) cause the longer I'm here the worse I feel...like i'm ditching my family.. :( I'm worried my little girlie will be bored out of her mind. oh well.....
ready to go....
ready to go....
ready to go....
STILL have yet to weigh myself....hmmm, must find the courage..
How cute is she! Does she smile all the time she looks like she does. Glad you had a great day with your little ones. Well their not that little any more are they. Hope you enjoy your week. Oh and great job on the run.
Having a good week? I volunteer at my son's school for an hour or so every other week, more to get to know the kids my son hangs with than to do anything productive, but I always think those hyperactive kids just need a lot more physical exercise. Not too many hyperactive Amish kids - Oh, are you finished with your chores? Go help Jacob with his. . .
Yogi-girl 05-08-08, 05:45 PM TOO funny Elijay...kids these days...need more activity for darn sure!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...we have had NO INTERNET for the past week!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I've missed it/and Diet talk soooooooooooo much! Too bad I don't have near enough time tonight to catch the heck up!!!!!
I'll be back! I"m so glad to be on-line again i'm almost giddy! :)
I had that happen a few weeks ago. When I was supposed to be taking an online test, of course. Hope you have a great weekend.
Yogi-girl 05-10-08, 07:59 AM OK....
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
updating from LAST weekend....
Sis and I had a SUPER duper time shopping and yes, eating, and exercising....(AT THE HOTEL) and swimming and sitting in the hot tub....we went to Red Lobster and spit a dessert that she has been DYING to have...it's funny..she has struggled with her weight most of her life, just not to the extremes that I do...she has never really had a "binging" problem per say...and when she starts to gain, she just practices "moderation" and loses it. Hmmm, what a concept!
So, anyhow...got hubby and zack some nice summer clothes, got girlie a pretty new swimsuit and some stuff for her and I from bath and body outlet at a SUPER deal...some stuff for mom for mothers day...we also went on a tour of a lighthouse in the town where we stayed, and went and saw the movie "Baby Momma" FUNNY movie!!!!
We got our hotel room for FREE!!!!! YEP! We stayed at a Hampton Inn, and discovered right before we went to bed that there was a bit of an ant problem in the bathroom...nothing horrendously gross...but still, you pay a nice little sum to stay at the Hampton, you don't want to be worried about stepping on ants! So...we didn't even have to make a big fuss...they just gave us the night for free!!! They have an awesome breakfast in the morning too!!!!
I'll be back later (after shower and grocery shopping to fill in the rest of my week!!!)
Sounds like a really fun trip glad you two had a great time.
Yogi-girl 05-14-08, 06:07 AM OH MY...so...getting too late to fill in with DETAILS about last week....other than..filled with work/gymnastics/baseball games/dentist appointments/and boyscouts!
Autumns team DID win their first game last Thursday, and she scored her first RUN! yeah! I'ts so adorable to watch them! Zack is getting frustrated with his gymnastics allready...and he's only had three classes...this is when I think...ok, we've tried karate, wrestling, flag football...and let him quit after awhile with each one...I think I might play the mean mom and make him keep going!!! I told him last week that the kids out there that are really good have been doing it for YEARS!!!! OMG!? I know some kids aren't naturally inclined to sports...but when he WANTS to try these new things...do I let him give up????
SOOOOOOOOOO anyhow...girlies team lost last night...and her and a couple other girls struck out every time up at bat...she was sad but I tried to perk her spirits back up afterwards....
tonight I go straight from work to the dentist...ick....
had a pregnancy scare last week too...on top of everything else....BUT I'm not pregnant...started TOM yesterday! Yeah!
Mothers Day was good (with the exception of having to go into work for four hours) hubby was a dear and took the kids grocery shopping with him and let them pick out flowers and cards for me and they made cards and letters and zack made a poem that made me cry....so at least I got to come home to that! :)
Work has been up and down...as usual...Im just coping a little better with it all with Gods help!
SUNNY, Yes, we had a very nice weekend! This is the start of a new tradition for us I'm sure...every year right before moms day! :)
TTFN!
I WILL be back! lol
Sounds like you're days are like mine - gotta run to work this morning, but at least I got to post here for a few minutes!
Yogi-girl 05-15-08, 06:53 AM The dentist was AWFUL!!!! OMG...I had an acutal dentist clean my teeth instead of a hygenist...and WOW...he was an old guy...he didn't appreciate the fact it has been years (i know..omg) since I have been to the dentist....(i get the kids in..that counts for somethin) anyhow..he was brutal...my gums throbbed all fricking night! I couldn't even eat supper! went to bed on 900 calories for the day! shhesh!
Other than that...food has been good this week...exercise has been squats squeezed in here and there...lol
Girlie is doing so AWESOME with her gymnastics....they are just now starting to practice floor routines for their "spring show"...it's gonna be freaking adorable!
She has a game tonight, and son has his gymnastics...any advice on my last post? Should I force him to continue? I'll be paying for the summer 8 week session next week...uggg...i don't know. I hate forcing him to do it...but I think I'm gonna....I've let him quit too many things allready!!@?
Well, happy thursday!
OH...btw... 4.0 on my first class! :)
Health Careers Math class starts on June 10th.
Just flash that smile today! If you are looking for a vote - I vote for making him do it another 8 weeks. Maybe he'll get good enough at it to like it. My son didn't want to bowl last time, and I made him, and by the end of 5 frames, he was laughing and jumping up and down and being really happy when the pins fell. But I'm trying to cut him some slack on the basketball camp. I've asked him twice about it, and he's said no once and maybe once. It depends on if his best friend does it. Sigh. Mothering is 1% inspiration, 49% perspiration, and 50% feeling around in the dark and praying to God you don't mess it up.
Yogi-girl 05-16-08, 06:41 PM Lady at work...SWEETEST lady...brought me in some liquid minerals...and I started taking them...and I THINK that could be the reason my tummy has been SOOOOOOOOOOO troubled the last couple of days...lol, so I'm going to back off them, take half the normal dose...WHEW! My mom takes liquid minerals...and swears by em...I do think they are a good addition to healthy food/and vitamins....so we will see.
Hubby has been stressed all week about his job which sucks...he may be losing it...which means I"m gonna start working all the o,t,. i can between now and the fall when my full load of classes starts! uggg....
GOOD NEWS!
gonna ride my bike to work this weekend! only gonna work 5 hours on saturday and 6 on sunday...but I'm gonna ride my bike to and from both days!!!! thats five miles one way...I'm THINKING about walking to and from one of the days for a bit of a "cross training" effect....
I'll write more tomorrow...gotta run the kids to the gymnastics class....
ELJAY! YES, I'm signing him up for another 8 weeks! He actually didn't mind his class thursday too much...he just really didn't like his instructor from two weeks ago cause he was a bit of a drill seargent...lol...so, he has 4 more weeks of this session...and then 8 throughout the summer!!! He will get strength and have fun darn it...even if it hurts! lolol
Yogi-girl 05-17-08, 05:59 PM Well, I gott the reflector/light I needed to ride my bike in the semi-dark...HOWEVER...my sons helmet didn't fit...lol...I underestimated the size of my noggin...so, I didn't have time to go BACK to the store last night and I did NOT ride my bike in today...HOWEVER, I have done excellent with food and PLENTY of water...I've also done 30 min, upper body w/ weights and 80 crunches (not used to ab work lately...so tummy will feel that tomorrow!!!)
I went in for five hours at work, then left and got a nice ADULT helmet...lol...groceries, came home...laundry, weights, crunches, and watched the movie The Waitress...not a bad movie...not great though...? eh...
Off to run the vac. and give the kiddos baths...have a healthy supper and get ready for work tomorrow!
OOOOHHHH....I LOVE coconut...and I found these bars while buying hubbys powerbars...they are atkins bars...and while i don't do the low carb thing...these are going to be STRICTLY a treat thing....coconut bars...YUM! 8g of fiber! Coconut is actually good for you...right? :) mmmmmm.....I left room in my calorie count for the day for one....
I'll be back tomorrow w/an undated weight....I did weigh myself a couple of days ago...I was 167.9....my hormones and TOM have been totally out of whack this month..I'm usually reg. like clockwork...now I"m bleeding for two days...then nothing..then I start up again today...ugggg...must be pre-pre menapause? lol....I DON"T KNOW!!!!
sun_optimist 05-18-08, 04:26 AM mmmm i love coconut, hope your biking goes well, x
Yogi-girl 05-18-08, 01:41 PM WHEW! I made it! lol....
CAN I JUST SAY...that SOME drivers! good LORD! Some are very courteous...some are AS@@**es!! WOW....
Anyhow....I made the ride in, worked five hours...and made the ride home...I"m a bit exhausted now though, I must admitt! I'm off to rest...mb do my nails....
Hey there girlie hope your doing well! :D
Hey Yogi,
Glad you had so much fun with your sister. Did any of the 'light' snack ideas work?
Wow, you are certainly a busy mom aren't you, sounds like your kiddos are having fun though.
Keep up the good work.

CJL...we are ALL our own worst critic...I think it's strange that we are hardwired that way....something I need to work on as well for sure!
Hey Yogi,
I remember putting a scratch(read big scratch) on our care once and I beat myself up so bad about it. I know hubby would be upset but I think I was way meaner to myself than he was. So yes, we can be very mean to ourselves.
But that is why your friends are here, lol, to help soften the blows. LOL, I can't even remember who started this conversation!!!
You are doing just great, keep it up. So glad you are part of Diettalk. :)
Hey girl !!
:jn WTFG on your day !!! :jn
isnt it funny that when we are overeating we dont even register 200 cals...and can eat 2000...but when watching our food...200 seems like 2000

Just saw this news clip about melanoma...and they were showing this ladies arm that had "freckles"...and they were melanomas...and I HAVE THOSE SAME freckles on like TEN SPOTS on my body! theyn they went on to say that redheads w/blue eyes are more suceptible...and that if you have 100 or more freckles you should always be closely monitored....
my sun lovin days are OVER...
my tanning lotions are gone...bring on the sunscreen...sheesh...
i'm disturbed by this...I will make an appt. first thing tomorrow...just an icky feeling in my gut....
hmmm
Hey Yogi,
Sounds like you were pretty ambitious this morning with your six mile walk! I love walking in the early morning when it is cooler and everything looks so fresh. I like the fact there are less cars, people and sprinklers to dodge!
I think you are smart to check out your skin. I think we all should be evaluated. I always go when I see something that I am unsure of. A few months ago I had a fast growing thing removed. It was not cancerous, but I didn't like the location( at brastrap) and I decided I didn't want to wait for it to turn into something.
Knocking....hello...anybody home?
Yogi-girl 07-14-08, 05:49 PM hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oh cjl...lol, i almost wonder if i'm BETTER OFF (as far as dieting goes) if i work seven days a week...cause as soon as i relax for a SECOND...I BINGE!
So....if i had to guesstimate my total calories for the day yesterday....i would say 3500
yes....

Sounds like you had a great day! You know making healthy choices and getting sleep is a winning combination! Doesn't it give you a lift when you get your hair done! We are expecting temperatures in the 90's with high humidity so I should have plenty of curls. I went to the store and bought strawberries, blueberries and raspberries for my snacks. My husband brought home eight giant oversized muffins left over from a meeting at work. I'm not even going to try one...too much temptation for me. They will probably be screaming "Eat me!" everyday for a week! Yikes! I will just keep repeating, "Eat Fruit, Eat Fruit, Eat Fruit!" There's nothing wrong with having a muffin, but I would end up eating too many of them. My son and husband always seem to forget about treats like that.X-(
Hey Yogi,
I also get a chocolate bar once in a while. I am not really addicted to them or anything, just an odd treat. With counting calories I just add them in. LOL, can you picture me at the store comparing the calories of a bunch of different chocolate bars!!! Seriously I do that, I check a few out and then pick the lowest, lol!!! I am sure people think I am crazy.
Have a great day.
Yogi-girl 07-17-08, 05:54 AM good with my food yesterday! THANKS FOR VISITING LADIES! :) I'll be back tonight to post more!
Good grief woman....when are you sleeping!!!:coach::whip: Do as I say...not as I do. I am always sleep deprived. I stay up late and get up early...not a good thing. I think when we get more sleep our bodies appreciate it , we have more energy and we are in a better frame of mind.
Great chatting with you today Yogi!!! Hope you have a good weekend.
:jn HEY Yogi :jn
yup, dust those crumbs off the chest and get moving again
you have more good days than bad !! We will just keep working it !! The all or nothing thing just aint real is it

Exercise so far 30 min upper body w/weights....
off to do a manicure and pedicure on me and the girlie!
Gonna try these ab exercises later....throw in a few sit ups/crunches too....
Basic Plank
(beginner)
Start in a push-up position, but keep your hands directly under your shoulders instead of outside your chest. Legs are extended straight behind you, with feet together. You are balancing on your palms and the balls of your feet. Hold this position for as long as you can, working your way up to 1 minute. It's a lot harder than it sounds!
Plank Twists
(intermediate)
Start in plank position. Maintaining this position, exhale and rotate your torso by bringing your right knee in toward your left armpit. Return to the starting position, then repeat, bringing the left knee toward the right armpit. Plank twists work not only the rectus abdominis but also the internal obliques. Extended Plank
(advanced)
Start in a basic plank position, but instead of placing your hands under your shoulders, bring your hands together and place them on the floor in front of you (about 3 inches in front of your head). This variation places much greater emphasis and intensity on the rectus abdominis because you're not able to use your arms as pillars to support your body weight.
Yogi-girl 07-20-08, 07:54 PM O.K...the advanced plank moves I DID NOT do...the first two were tricky enough!!!! I also did 80 sit ups along with my 30 min. upper body w/weights....
Tomorrow I will Bike ride to work...OR walk after work...one or the other...we will see....I won't bike ride home from work..because the roads are just way too busy and unsafe and there are no sides to the streets where I have to travel for me...and w/ ppl driving over 55 mph i just don't want to risk it! So..hubby will pick me up from work...
:jn Hey Yogi :jn
How did your day go??
Prepping up the veg and such is SUCH a good idea !! I eat whats available quick usually too... much easier to grab that than a bag of crispy deep fried hell like your buddy did yesterday :o
I agree with you on sleep being important... on days where I dont sleep well... I seem to eat and eat..like filling up on carb after carb will help ??
I hope your whole week is a great one girl and careful on the roads !!
 Peng xo

You are doing well. I think when we eat healthy, we physically and emotionally feel better. I have found that I am less tempted to overeat when I have exercised. I don't want to undo all of my hardwork from the gym. Is it true we can't count how many times we put the fork into our mouth as exercise!

Thats the plan for now anyhow!
I will drive into work in the morning...and Bike in again on saturday! At this rate I will need to change my goal cause I'll hit it WAY too fast!!!
PENGI thanks for visiting! The WTFG made me smile when I read it this morning!!! Stuff like that makes it just that much easier to keep on going!
CJL...YES! I tell ya...I was STARVING at lunch time...and I"m putting lots of good fiber filled food into my menu...and protien....but the extra exercise makes me more hungry....and it's amazing how good the food tastes when were tummy non stop growling hungry!!!! lolol....I need to stick with the exercise...that is so gonna make this transition BACK into a healthy lifestyle all the easier for me!

Worked nine hours again...biking in to work tomorrow, (my buns seem recovered from this weeks riding...) I DID clock my drive to work this morning...and it is 5.5 miles...so, i only added one mile of the four from tonight to the ticker...because i needed to subract three...(MUST be accurate!) :)
Happy Weekend!
Sounds like you are doing great Yogi!!! Wow, biking - walking - biking - situps!!!
Keep up the good work.
Yogi-girl 07-26-08, 04:29 PM Hi Nancy! Thanks for visiting! :)
So far so good on the weekend!
I actually woke up BEFORE my alarm went off this morning...I did NOT bike in, between my husband, and reading a very recent post of CFJ on how a woman biker got hit by a drunk driver on her morning commute....at 5:45 am I was scared enough to NOT bike in on the weekend!
SO
I went in to work, left, went to my usualy trail and walked four miles...went and bought birthday party supplies for my DD birthday party next weekend...then bought some lovely healthy grocerys...came home...got the kids all cleaned up for Church...got veggies cut up for the next couple of days...after church it's subway for supper...maybe a movie (Fools Gold? never heard of it...hubby rented it)
Tomorrow were healding to the Lakeshore early and will be there all day! I will pack a super healthy cooler for us to take...I have 1420 calories planned out for today (including subway) and 1600 calories planned for tomorrow!
Back to biking to work on monday! (weather permitting!)
:jn HEY YOGI :jn
good for you for squeezin in time for your health in your busy weekend !! GO GIRL GO :cheer: lol
having the food ready and planned is sure working isnt it?
I am following your lead and bought some nice stuff at farmers market today... your good energy is rubbin off !! ty
Hope you all have a nice evening and fun day tomorrow at Lake
 Peng
So how long do you think it would take to bike over to me in Illinois? I think I need you as a personal trainer! Last nite I ignored the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries in the frig and did not eat healthy.8-|
Today is another opportunity to eat healthy with sensible portions.....blah, blah, blah...................................I told myself that yesterday, but I guess I didn't pay attention to it.
Yogi-girl 07-27-08, 07:27 PM Peng...HI! I"m glad my good energy is rubbing off! That is awesome! YOU are doing very good yourself woman!
CJ...oh...lol...maybe CFJ could bike all the way to you...lol...Today is a new day for SURE!!! (I know if feels like "blah blah blah" though...) Don't go letting those berries get bad now!!! EAT EM UP! ;)
Well, it was a good day today...
Exercise 30 min. upper body w/weights this a.m.
Day at the beach....
Water intake 12 8 ounce glasses
Calories 1600 on the dot...(and that INCLUDES a trip to Dairy Queen!!!) wooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Was a super day at the lake...picture perfect!

Be back tomorrow!
:jn HEY YOGI :jn

been there, ate that lol
I am happy to hear you had such a nice day
I can hear ya revving your engines for the upcoming week :cheer:
what are your plans?
 Peng
OK Yogi, I am going to have a very berry day! Yesterday we went to the Bears Training Camp which was fun. Afterwards we ate at Fridays and let's just say I didn't eat berries, but I did have berry lemondade.....I know that doesn't count! I am giving myself the daily peptalk so that I can be aware and focused in regards to my food choices. You have given me a new mantra.......Berries, berries...berries.....chanting in a meditation pose!
Keep up the good work, you are a rockin and rollin!
Yogi-girl 07-28-08, 05:33 PM Back from work....
Biked in at 5 am
Worked nine hours
Biked home! :)
Soooooooooo...got to add 11 miles to my ticker...and WHEW...another hot sweaty ride home!
Rain in the forcast for the rest of the week...so I'm not sure how things will work out...if I get up in the a.m. and it looks safe to ride in I will for sure....and if it's raining when I leave I will just call hubby for a ride home!
SOOOOOOOOOOOO my plans for the week are to stay within 1350-1500 calories a day
Keep up the excellent water drinking habit.....
Bike to and from work at least three days this week....
Go to the trails with my family twice this week and get in an additional ten miles that way! (them on bikes...and me walk/jogging the dog)
My shoulders and tri-ceps are a bit sore from my upper body w/out yesterday...but it's a gooooooooood sore... :)
I also plan on doing upper body twice more this week (before saturday) and doing one pilates routine....
There..sounds good to me!
LADIES I weighed in this morning...and I was 167.3 SO...since I know I will be BACK to my stats that are posted in the corner before I know it...I"m not changing it!!!! lolol.....
Now that I have stepped on the dreaded metal beast to see...I need to not get obsessive about it.....it's not all about the number..it's about the health...the energy...the way healthy FEELS...not looks or numbers!!!!
PENG...thanks for visiting!!!! Thos are my plans in a nutshell..always subject to change with kids ...lol...but I"m gonna try darn it! :) And the funny thing is..I was JUST FINE...with my half cup of low fat vanilly ice cream...it was SO yummy....but it was ENOUGH! :)
CJL Now I"m gonna tell ya what I read about berries (sorry if I"ve allready mentioned this) but, did you know...that you should only eat a small handfull of berries at a time? Like..say your going to eat two cup fulls in a day...just portion them out and eat them throughout the day, because your body can only absorb so many anti-oxidants at a time......and it will just flush the rest out! Interesting, he? I"m glad I read that! :) Thanks for visiting!
WHEWWWWWWWWWWW...need to stop rambling and visit some other journals! :)
Yogi:
Sounds like your body is going to be toned and chiseled with all the exercise you are geting. You are getting so healthy! I had to throw out two packages of raspberries....the red and green looked like Christmas! I ate strawberries today and perhaps I'll have a few blueberries tonight. Thanks for the heads up on how to eat the berries! You are a good nutrition coach as well....I need all the help I can get.
Yogi-girl 07-29-08, 06:18 PM CJL....ummmm, I'll settle for toned! :) Chiseld may be going a bit far....lolol....and for SURE I WILL get healthy by golly! I just visited your journal and you haven't been there today young woman!!! hmmmm.....
TODAY
Water 13 8 ounce glasses
Exercise 11 mile bike ride (and the ride home was KILLER cause its like 93 degrees!!!!
Food calories 1470
Took me awhile to cool down after my ride home...was feeling super overheated and a bit nauseous...yick....
Will weigh in tomorrow...see if I'm any closer to my posted weight! lol
When it is that hot, make sure to drink enough. It is pretty easy to sit in an office all day, and not drink enough for a hot ride home. You will cool down just fine, but if you don't have enough water, you start to feel sick. Not a good thing.
Good to see you riding like that too. I foresee you lengthening your route in a few weeks. I started out riding just a little bit farther out-of-my-way to see stuff that looked cool from our car when driving by. You see so much more when you are on a bicycle, and then I just kept going further, and further away to see stuff. It is addictive. And good for you.
Be careful with traffic. I plan my in-town routes very carefully. There are plenty of roads that have bike lanes that I won't ride, because the traffic is too agressive near there. There is almost always a slightly longer route through a neighborhood, or something. I've found some of my best routes "getting lost" on the way home; just putting around looking for new ways to go (old barracaded streets for cars, but with a bike passage, trails or sidewalks through parks, etc.).
Keep up the great work, and have a fantastic week!
Yogi,
You are doing just terrific!!! 93 that is a scorcher to exercise in for sure, yep, get in some extra water for that!!!
Yogi-girl 07-30-08, 06:16 AM CFJ...thanks for the visit! :) I will certainly try the through diff. neighborhood routes...in fact...I just may leave here in a couple min. and clock the distance going a different way...thanks for the idea!!! :) I'm NOT riding in this morning, because it's thunderstorming out darn it!!! :( Oh well...there is always tomorrow!
Nancy! Thanks for the visit! :)
Dog gone it...lol I weighed in this morning and haven't lost a bloody ounce since last Friday...shoot! I'm shooting for two pounds a week...I know...lol, it hasn't been a week....I need to not weigh myself...it makes me feel discouraged...when HEY, even if I don't drop another pound my entire life, I'm more healthy for eating well and exercising and I have MORE ENERGY!
I DID however pare down my calories for today...i had 1420 planned....switched a couple things and got it down to 1330....mb I'll just keep it at 1300 for thurs. and fri. I REALLY can't go back to 1200 though...EVER...lol...especially not when I'm exercising regularly.
SO, since I"m not biking in today due to the weather...but the stors are supposed to clear up later...I will go to my trail and squeeze in 4 miles after work...i'll just work nine today so that i have time to do it before the kids gymnastics.....
Take care...everyone have a SUPER Wednesday! :)
Yogi, The heat can drain your energy. Stick with CFJ in terms of keeping hydrated and how to condition your body for biking. He is the DT Biking Guru!
I know the metal beast can be stubborn about giving up pounds, but eventually it will surrender the weight. It's not uncommon to hold some water weight in hot weather and don't forget muscle weighs more than fat....it also burns more calories than fat. You will drop the weight....just be patient. Eating healthy and doing healthy things will make you healthy and you have a great attitude about that!
I really appreciate you visiting my journal. I am so thrilled when DT members post....I really need the support right now and you have been wonderful to give it to me!
:jn HEY YOGI :jn
the way you are watching & burning ... the evil metal demon has to give up the pounds !! Thats what I hate about the scale game too yogi.... can feel great and the scale tells me no dif... should not matter right....but in my little mind... X-( I KNOW if I keep going, the pounds drop
bad scale, evil scale.... your exercise is so great girl.... maybe you will go how long level and then just drop
keep working it yogi ... you know you are doing it right
 Peng
Amarantha 07-30-08, 11:27 AM Hello, Yogi-girl! I have not "met" ye before for some reason but enjoyed reading your wholesome take on things and the information on berries was welcome as I had never thought of that. You are doing GREAT, doing everything right with a super mental attitude! :cheer:
Yogi-girl 07-30-08, 09:06 PM Allrighty...so, today's info....
30 min. upper body w/weights before work...
worked 9 hour shift
walked 3 miles after work in the blazing heat
14 8 ounce servings of H20
Ended the day with 1370 calories...but considering my STOMACH woke me up at one thirty a.m. growling...it's probably ok...the 1370 that is! :)
Just got back from the kids gymnastics classes...and I"m ready for BED! Well..no, teeth not brushed..face not washed...clothes not changed...but..I do believe i"m gonna fall into bed anyhow....
I DID map out a little different route to work on my drive in this morning..it adds a mile to my commute...so instead of 11 miles a day...i'll be doing 13 starting tomorrow! :)
I'll post how my new route goes!
CJL...absolutely I will stick with CJF on biking...lol...is there something even more committed than a guru? lol...he would be it! I"m not gonna worry too much about the scale...because a pair of pants that I wore on day 1 (this being day 10) has more room in the buns today!!!!! So...hey, I"m feeling great...and there is shrinkage...so...gotta love shrinkage!!! :)
PENG! Yes...it really is a BEAST!!!! I need to just NOT step on it for a few days...can I resist that first thing in the morning temptation???? hmmmm....now that I"ve started the weighing in...not sure I can stop!!!!! I do know I"m doing it right..in my head...so..not gonna worry about the calories being 1300-1500...I still think that is a reasonable amount for SLOW weight loss, as long as I"m still EXERCISING REGULARLY....so....we will see...anything is better than the binging i've been in the habit of doing! YIKES!
Amarantha...very pleased to meet you at last you diet talk success STAR! :) Thank you so much for the visit, and I am holding on to my good mental state of mind with all my strength!!!!! I won't let go!!!! I'm gonna have to venture on over to your journal and read what has led to such a fantastic weight loss success for you!!!!
I'm off to a couple journals ladies..then off to bed! TTFN!
Hey Yogi,
Wow, that biking is just awesome, think of the strong thighs you are going to have, whoohoo!!! LOL
Keep up the good work.
Yogi,
You are such an inspiration to me. Not only are you eating healthy and exercising, but you are doing all of this working nine hour days! It really does take desire, dedication, determination and discipline for you to fit your healthy lifestyle into your work day. I am so happy for ya! Your clothes are already starting to feel loser in just ten days! Wow!
Yogi-girl 07-31-08, 07:34 PM CJL...I'm not worthy...lol..such praise!!! Well, I'm trying...one day at a time...you just need to get those first days out of the way...that magic number....now that I'm at 11 I would just be SO FURIOUS with myself for slipping...unplanned slipping...oh...or diving...of the wagon!
I think I am doing one thing better this time around...and not restricting my calories too much...if I weren't exercising...I'd try to stick to 1200...but I am really thinking (hoping...praying...lol) that with regular exercise I should be able to still lose at 1400-1500 which is where I've been hitting the past week. (sunday was 1600...but still, not bad...) I'm making 98% of those calories VERY healthy ones...so...time will tell!
Calories today 1370
Exercise today....
6.5 miles biked to work
5.5 miles home (was just HOT...wanted to skip the extra mile! lol)
Water
14 8 ounce servings
Sleep
NOT ENOUGH!!! lol
10 min. ab exercises
I let hubby take the kids back to gymnastics tonight...I don't like the back to back nights..but next week is their last week until school starts back up...so we will all have a month long rest from gymnastics!
Hubby picked up paint for our living room and kitchen...I"m so excited!!!! I"ve always had white walls...WHITE EVERYWHERE for the last 15 years....
We painted DD room a pale green last summer....and DS room a rich slate blue...it looks awesome! the living room is going to be a sort of deep burgandy....oh...and the kitchen is going to be Sunflower yellow!!!! I"ve always wanted my kitchen to be yellow...why the heck didn't we do this sooner???
Gotta keep the hubby busy since he's not working and only taking one class this summer!
I get a bonus check on Monday....and let me tell you....it is helping me breathe a bit easier about finances for the time being...(otherwise we wouldn't have splurged on the paint!)...it will pay for both hubby and my classes for the fall...and it's paying for our Doggies vet visit which is gonna run us a couple hundred dollars....AND it is paying for sons karate classes and my daughters NEXT set of gymnastics classes....
Phew...
With all that...They asked me to work the weekend and I said "no thank you"...my boss was floored cause I've been milking as much overtime as i can get...lol (until this last couple weeks...with my slacker nine hour days...)
Told him I just can't, I promised my daughter her birthday weekend I woulnd NOT work! :)
And with all that said...gonna go work on party "stuff"....
HAPPY FRIDAY!
:jn HEY YOGI :jn
love your energy girl!!!!! Hope you get lots of party stuff done !!
I am sure the kids will love having mum home the whole weekend too  an extra bonus
I love yellow too... most of my main floor is a dijon yellow and the upstairs 'dont know what to call this room' room is a lovely dancing yellow too
plus paint is so fun and easy to change when you feel like it.. maybe you can post some pics when you are done !!
I hope your friday is extra special too...keep working it !!
 Peng
Yogi-girl 08-01-08, 05:50 AM STILL NOT AN OUNCE>>>>>ONE WEEK>>>>NOT A BLOODY OUNCE>>>>
I'm off to bike ride, in the dark, on streets NOT made for biking now simply for the sheer THRILL OF IT...
OMG
HAPPY FLIPPIN FRIDAY!X-(
Yogi-girl 08-01-08, 10:51 AM This is Yogi's DH. Shes having a rough day today at work with feeling like her efforts the last 11 days have been for nothing with no loss on the scale to show for it. She has a potluck at work today and needs some words of encouragement. So if you have any please post em and I'll send them to her and hopefully it will get her through it today. TY
Yogi:
You know how stubborn the scale is when giving up the weight. Often the weight loss is slow to come even when we are eating healthy and exercising.
Your body is probably making a transition to muscle and it does weigh more. You know your clothes are fitting loser so you are doing well...you are on your way girl. How you feel physically and how your clothes feel is more important than a number on the scale. Don't let that number on the scale drive you away from the healthy habits you have been creating. Don't use that number on the scale as an excuse to eat whatever you want at the potluck. Enjoy the potluck but be sensible with your choices and portions.
Don't let a moment on the scale change your healthy outlook on life!
Yogi -
Hang in there!!! Don't you dare give up or stop!!! You are doing great and you know you are doing all the right things. When I started my four-month challenge I didn't lose much the first month and now it is coming off quite nicely. Alot of people think that as soon as they start exercising or eating right that things will happen but it takes our bodies some time to adjust and realize that we are serious about this new way of life. Keep up the good work, the reward is coming!!!
And thanks to your kind hubby for letting us know you are struggling and sending our messages along.
:jn HEY YOGI :jn
*** and HEY to Yogi's DH ~ just so you know...I expect you to be jumping airborn like that little nanner when you reley this message to my fantabulous buddy !!!
Yogi the scale is an evil beast...and we habitually turn to it far too often when we should be looking at the real results in our bodies ! Imagine your little ticker, lungs, everything being so much better with the exercise and good food !! Maybe your bod is just adjusting to your accelerated workouts...maybe you need to boost the cals a with a bit more protien... maybe you just have to hang on till 19 days... !!! Dont let the scale decide what kind of day you will have today buddy
I wont make this too long or your DH will drop dead from having to be jumping during the complete time he is reading this to you :D
You ARE and will continue to do great...you finally got me moving again girl...please dont give up now... you know you can enjoy the potluck and bday without having food your reward...
:jn YOU ARE DOING FANTASTIC YOGI !! DONT STOP NOW :jn
 Peng
sanitysake54 08-01-08, 03:07 PM YOGI.....
Don't you ever be discouraged......you are such an inspiration...riding that bike all over the place....(even when it's dark...yikes)
you will see a drop on the scale.....I PROMISE...
it will happen all at once.....THAT IS.......if you keep on doin what your doin...
it's so great to come in here and see that someone is sticking to their guns...
Don't be like me and give up.....show ME that eating healthy and exercising does work....
I know you can keep this pace up.....I have faith in YOU!!!
Marcia
and think of it this way....it's not POTLUCK.....it's POTYUCK!!!
just eat the healthy stuff:)
Yogi-girl 08-01-08, 05:28 PM Awe...you guys are so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so is my DH!!!!! I just love you ALL! And diet talk too!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm gonna DONATE to Diettalk after all this...good Lord!
Well, GOOD NEWS! Although I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted to not wear in workout clothes to work so that I could ride my bike...wanted to ride the comfy min-van and skip the bike today cause good GREIF I was having a pity party that all my sweat wasn't producing the results I want FAST ENOUGH (I so need to work on patience...some day I have it...somne day I don't....)
Nevertheless...I still rode my bike....
Before I type more...I will say I'm PMS'ING big time...I was all SO IRATIONALLY wanting to cry this morning and visions of chocolate were dancing in my head (even AFTER riding my bike in!!!) Usually I feel really healthy and ready to go (and really sweaty) after riding my bike in to work in the morning...but today I was just grouchy and wanting to cry and eat chocolate and wondering what the heck was wrong with me....
SOOOOOOOOO I purposely did not bring anything to the potluck...and rode my bike...so that I could NOT participate in the potluck...because I knew that with my fragile state of emotions I wouldn't make good food choices today....so I just brought my own healthy food and skipped it...I'm SO VERY GLAD I DID NOW! I feel like I really accomplished something by making it through that....like I won't have a problem at all now making it through the rest of my pms and through my girlies b-day party and the weekend!!!!
I sent my hubby an email this morning before nine telling him how frustrated and angry and sad I was feeling....and he got on here and got messages from you guys and sent them to me and it's just so amazing!!!! I could cry....lol....but a GOOD cry! :)
SO
CJL....I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not using the numbers on the scale to eat unhealthy or not exercise!!! NO MAM...I had a temporary emotional slip...and I did pray too! I listened a little bit to Joyce Meyer while I was working...and she was talking about calling out to God ... and how it can be as simple as "God help me"....so I did...a few times...and He did! :)
Crazy!!!! I got the most supportive DH ever...and he's SO understading of my issues with weight/food/exercise/...he gets confused on the whole binging thing sometimes...he just doesn't understand how I can eat five bowls of cereal...in one sitting....(and for ppl who don't have issues...lol, how COULD they understand...lol) Thanks for your message and coming through for me...cause I really needed it!
PENGI....I was...get this...EIGHT FREAKING FEET away from the potluck table ALL DAY LONG...starting with doughnuts and cookies in the morning....to the mid-day feast....and the table didn't come down before I left work...so people could snack all day....
AND I DIDN"T LET THE POT LUCK BEAT ME!!!! :) Yeah! So, no worries...NOT GIVING UP...just had a shakey, hormonal, emotional start to my day...but I have survived victorious! Thanks so much for your message! I wish I could get on Diet talk from work...but all we have on-line is email...and our work documentation stuff...our "intra-net", no internet.
Sanity! I was discouraged...and I know there will be more times of being discouraged in the future...BUT, I'm SO HAPPY now cause I didn't give in! I feel just a wee bit stronger for making it throug the day w/out caving in to my cravings and emotions! I was just WHINING this morning good grief..lol, about riding in in the am...yes, it is still dark...but there are just enough street lights here and there...and I have a head light and tail light...and there is very little traffic...so I really do enjoy riding in....i get all sweaty...but hey, I'm a mechanic so it's not like I have to smell like flowers at work to impress anyone, right? :) the ride home is a little more hairy because of traffic...but I still enjoy it! I've been sleeping like a ROCK too! Thanks SO much for your message...you guys really helped me through this...you all ROCK! I'll be back to post in journals after my shower...don't want to stink out my family!

Yogi, You made great decisions today and I am very proud of you. It is not easy to make healthy decisions when you feel discouraged, but you did! That is so awesome. It takes alot of willpower to stay away from a potluck...just think you saved yourself a zillion calories! I hope Saturday will be alittle easier for you. Sounds like you got a great husband!
Amarantha 08-02-08, 11:27 AM Yea, great decisions, Yogi, 'n wish I could have gotten in earlier so could have sent a message of encouragment through your sweet DH, but you are doing GREAT, I see, so I'll just say, "Huzzah!" :cheer:
Yogi-girl 08-02-08, 12:44 PM CJL! Thanks for being proud of me!!!! :) Today I just wanted to quick check in...been running my buns of cleaning and getting ready for the party this afternoon...groceries...cleaning...baking brownies...(I bought a WARM DELIGH MINI and I ate it during the making of the brownies....WOW...did it ever help me! lolol...healthy? NO...but, 150 calorie prevention is WAAAAAAAAAAY better than a splurge on the real thing...cause come ON ladies...brownies just smell so FRICKING AWESOME while your baking them! lol
Been getting the goodie bags and games and gifts and decorating stuff together...were having the party at a clubhouse nearby...so i'm gonna leave in about an hour and go decorate..the party is at 3...i'm sure I'll post a pic or two later and tell how it went! :)
MY GROCERY STORE visit this morning was NOT fun! lol...I had my cart LOADED up...(oh, and TONS OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES are going to be served at this party too! lolol...the cake, ice cream, brownies...LARGE fruit bowl and LARGE veggie tray...and chex mix (DD loves chex mix....) and stuff to drink...
So anyhow...my cart is heaping...took me over an hour to get everything...gets all rang up and bagged up...and my DEBIT CARD WAS DECLINED! It told the cashier I had exceeded my limit??????
Oh...I was freakin...i'm allready hormonal...and have all this "stuff" hanhing over my head that I have to do...and now I cant purchase my stuff????
omg...and i didn't bring my phone...so she suspended my order and i drove back home like a madwoman...
sent hubby back to the store with the checkbook...he brought the groceries home and then went to the bank and got our allowable spending amount upped...we have/had the money in the bank...but for security reasons we had a daily (24 hour limit)...I didn't know that...how embarrasing!
ANYHOW....
AMARANTH!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the visit!!! :) I will be back later to post here and in everyone elses journal! I need to do SOMETHING good and theraputic after the party...NOT EAT! :)
Yogi,
Hope all goes great with the party. Love the menu!!!
Great security idea on the card but frustrating when you are pressed for time. Good hubby could help out.
Have fun!!!
sanitysake54 08-02-08, 02:13 PM Yogi,
You did great by not giving in to temptation...and yes 1 delight mini for 150 calories is alot better than having 6 brownies...when I make anything like that, I always eat all 4 corners...why, because I think no one else likes them and I don't want them wasted...does that sound like a person with an eating disorder or what???
Party sounds awesome...I'm sure it will be a big hit...I just had my daughter baby shower a couple of weeks ago...was worried about everything, but it came, decorations were great...everyone enjoyed themselves and she got a ton of great baby gifts soooo all that worrying for nothing....I'll post a pic so you can see what it looked like...
one time we went to NYC and my credit card got declined...all these people were behind me and I stood there and kept telling the lady there was no way it could be declined because I never used it....told her to keep the coat and walked out with my head hanging low....here it was my dumbness...I never activated the dumb thing...LOL.....so I was embarrassed and made a fuss over MY mistake....oh well you live and learn right???
well you keep up the good work...we are all here cheering you on.....
Yogi-girl 08-03-08, 08:10 AM Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I ended day 13 with 1390 calories.... 10 8 ounce glasses of water....and 30 min. upper body with weights! I also did severl sets of squats and lunges...(don't want to give my leggs a break! lol)
Heres a couple pics of the party! (party girls are still sleeping this a.m.)
One of my lady friends from work brought her tortoise!!! Her name (the tortois) is Gus...she said she brings her Gus cause she can't find a date! lol....Gus was a hit!
My girlie was being all comical and trying to impress her friends by being a big goofball while she was opening her presants....(she gets that from her dad...lol...seriously...i was always so shy, quiet, and reserved...she's a regular little comic)
Yogi-girl 08-03-08, 08:14 AM Sanity!!!!!!!!!!! :) Thanks so much for visiting again! :) Yes, you will have to post of pics of your daughters baby shower! It can be stressfull..the whole party thing...cause you want it to go well for your daughter...and for the ppl that come to enjoy themselves....and you feel like it's all on you! But usually in the end it does all turn out well, doesn't it? :)
I almost FORGOT TO POST...lol..that I'm FINALLY DOWN TWO FLIPPIN POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!! 165.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I started today too...lol...let the hormones flow...right on OUT that is! )

I have 1430 calories planned for today, and I"m hoping to go on a nice long walk tonight after were done spending the day at Craigs Cruisers....(the pizza buffet place...lol) Good thing is..I really won't be too tempted to eat more than the salad...cause the first day of TOM I feel to icky! just blak...no pizza!
