(Ok, t'is only IMPORTANT to Am, but she had limited prefixes available!)

Warnin' to any gentle reader lookin' for a kindly apologetic treatise on the nature o' weight gain, this be not it.

Here be the deal: Havin' found that by dint o' careful eatin' 'n X'erzin' MOST of last week (ok, there were some lapses and ok for a month or so she's been slowly overeatin', whinin' and doin' X things half whatever), Am 'n all her imaginary comrades here at Diet 'n Fitness Summer Bootcamp mustered out early 'n participated in the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice 'n much to her surprise ('cause she felt smaller so must have gained a little muscle, but still, there WERE those lapses ...), she had gained weight, not lost. X-(

"Alack," saith Am, "We should be goin' in a DOWNWARD direction here as we have determined to meet our ULTRA GOAL (125 pounds) by August 31!!!"

Send no flowers 'cause her dream o' reachin' ULTRA GOAL by August 31 be verra much alive 'n well 'n she intendeth to keep it that way!

So, we soldier on, campers! We will return with specifics as to the Bootcampy Program 'n the Bootcampy Counselors. :coach: :whip: :air:

Caveat from entity known as ME :D Apologies to all who dislike the angry smilies. I think they are funny! :cheer2:

Thanks, Ms. Lulu!!! 'Preciate the visit!

I'll be back soon with the real plan. Right now Am is off consultin' with the camp nutritionist who is reportedly shocked by Am's menus lately 'n recommendin' she do time in the Nutrition Rehab Stockade for a month before she's allowed to roam around the camp without an ankle bracelet (I know that sentence doesn't make sense, work with me here!

On her way to the Nutrition Rehab Stockade under heavy guard, the hapless Am made a stop to confer with the Scheduler of Bootcamp Exercise Programs, who handed her the following general workout plan, which is subject to change with or without notice.

Three circuit training workouts per week upper & lower (T-Th-Sat)

Two ab workouts per week (any convenient days)

Walk, jog or do other cardio six to seven days per week, guarding against overtraining by varying intensity and/or activity.

No less than the 11 workouts should be performed unless Am is ill and has a special dispensation from the camp physician to not exercise or in case of major life problem, in which case permission should be obtained from the Scheduler in writing.

The Scheduler can change the schedule anytime the Scheduler feels like doin' so. (The Scheduler has little to do and therefore reviews everyone's schedule from time to time without notice.)

Any deviation from the schedule on the camper's part could result in severe consequences such as incarceration in the Exercise Schedule Stockade.

Well, here's Am in the Nutrition Rehab Stockade for the month of June plus this last week of May! :lapd::keys: However, the Camp Nutritionist was pretty nice about Am's eating habits X-( and said that as long as she wore the Nutrition Tracking Ankle Bracelet, which reminds the wearer to check in once a day with a report on their Nutrition Goal Compliance, Am could go back to her little bootcampy hut 'n also wander around the camp and the neighboring diet village. If she doth NOT comply, back in the slammer she goes!

Nutrition Goals will be set weekly and will vary during this rehab period.

Goals for the week of May 25-31 include three simple rules:

1) Eat at least one serving of vegetables per day (Am sees this a punitive measure for her past improper eating misbehavior but the Nutritionist swears it will help her feel better and lose weight and eat like a normal person.)

2) Eat no more than 1500 cals per day.

3) Eat no candy bars EXCEPT those with a protein count of 10 grams or more per serving, this rule applies to energy bars or meal replacement bars unless made at home by Am.

Report later, film at 11.

Hi, Amarantha. Nice new journal. Best of luck with it.

Something you mentioned in your old journal reminded me something I read in the most recent issue of the magazine "Diabetes Self-Management."

The English word, diet, is derived from the Greek [I]diaita[I] which, according to Webster's, literally means "manner of living." But people have a way of reinventing language, and now one of the formal definitions of "diet" is "a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight." So now the word "diet" is a bad word in many weight-loss circles. It shouldn't be. I personally think it is a very nice word, and I will continue to use it.

Another thing I wanted to mention is that you should smile whenever you eat those veggies. It will make them taste better. I guarantee it!

Enjoy your new journal.

JoJo!!! It's so great to see you in my new journal 'n thanks for the input on the word "diet" as I also believe it is a nice word and it helps me focus, as do these journals and the silly adventures o' Am the Wanderer in the Diet Hinterland.

I mentioned the "diet" word controversy earlier because of some things that had been said to me online and offline late. There's a whole giant thread on this topic on another site and it was irritatin' me for some silly reason, as I believe those who wish to call their efforts a "diet" should be allowed to do so in peace.

People seem to get really offended when I say I am on a "diet." I somehow fail to understand also why it would bother anyone else. If one person wishes to say "diet" and another likes to call it "lifestyle changes," where's the harm either way? To each their own.

For me, while of course I have made and continue to make lifestyle changes, it seems that when I am paying attention to my "diet" as opposed to my "lifestyle," I do a little better at realizing that there are cutoff points in the eating regime that have to be met in order for the math to come out right with my body.

Anyway, I am ranting, but my "diet" is going well 'n Am's report followeth anon!

Sunday, May 25, First Day o' Summer Bootcampy Thing, posting early due to busy week, reported total includes one glass light soymilk not yet consumed, will have if I get hungry later tonight. The nutritionist is very pleased and says mayhap Am could get rid of the ankle bracelet and go on probation in a day or so.

Nutrition Goals for Week of May 25-May 31

1) One serving of vegetables :check: (broccoli, cauliflower & carrots)

2) Eat no more than 1500 cals per day :check: (1470)

3) Eat no candy bars EXCEPT those with a protein count of 10 grams or more per serving, rule includes energy or protein bars except homemade :check: (had some Power Bar Triple Threat bars, these have exactly 10 grams of protein)

*****
Exercise: One of two weekly ab workouts completed :check: (10 min of circuits of X for upper abs, lower abs, obliques, transverse abdominis, lower back, and yes, I know one can't isolate those muscles specificially as the whole suite of ab muscles acts as a unit, however, it helps to focus on the areas separately); cardio :check: (100 min walk)
