Amarantha 06-29-08, 01:57 PM T'is the 4th of July :sam: , more or less, 'n Dieter Am reflecteth that she's done extremely well on the weight loss front since the end o' May even though X-( the scale did not cooperate for a downturn this week, but we o' the Amarantha Universal Dietary Law 'n Justice Compendium have decided to NOT turn the scale into a lamp 'n give him another chance to do better. He's on parole, so to speak, for the month of JULY!
Am wisheth a breezier journalistic July journalin' experience 'n will only be stickin' to the basics without fanfare, 'n for July, with apologies to Am's muscles, we are focusin' on the most basic CALORIE COUNTIN' 'n EXERCISE plan that Am can muster 'n the Scary Exercise Fairie 'n the Rigid Diet Fairie can go take a rest 'cause July is about slidin' down the scale with our previous basic program that has taken us so far, but no beatin' up on the muscles or dieter in general, although we will diet 'n exercise! Just fun in the sun 'n gentle diet, kindly thoughts, 'n some personal challenges! Woo-hoo! Sign me up! :cheer2:
Journal entries will be short 'n sweet with no pontifications! Really, short, Am can do it! Huzzah!

Starting weight for July (first week, June 29): 132
Goal: Whatever, just down! :laugh:
Exercise plan: Keeping it loose, reduce lifting slightly, more cardio, I think, I just feel better with that equation
Food plan: Same, aim for average in 1500, high days, low days, whatever, no rules
Love the title of your new journal! Jubiliant july jiffy journal. Sounds fun and upbeat, hot (that's the july part! lol), and in just a jiffy you'll be at goal. You have done amazing in the june keep it up.

Amarantha 06-29-08, 10:15 PM Just the facts so Am will have more time for fun in the sun, even if it IS 106 degrees here (which is not really hot for where I live).
Today's cals: 1480, which includes a soy/whey shake not yet drunk as it will be a late night snack; odd side note is that is exactly the cals for last Sunday, this happens a lot to Dieter Am, provin' once again ... what? I don't know! Had chicken for dinner but burned it, still wasn't bad! Other things today also very good food!
Exercise, kind of restin' as previously indicated, changin' it up, walked 20 minutes in the heat, should mobilize somethin', heatstroke, mayhap! Nay, used to it.
Weird kind of journal, weird kind of mood, first week in july difficult at work, then gets better, will not let it derail weight loss effort.
Have a secret word re the goal strivin' for (family oriented line of thought) and oddly as Am was drivin' home from store thinkin' 'bout the odd cessation o' her gung-ho-ness re the goal that had characterized june, she passed a small sign tucked on a corner that had that secret word on it, announcing an event.
So, despite lack o' gung-ho-ness, we soldier on! :cheer2:

Looks like you are getting ahead start on July and sailing out to sea on your weight loss journey! As far as attitude, and motivation....fake it til you make it. You can talk yourself and your shipmates out of mutiny and move on to calmer seas! Ahoy mate, your final destination has been sited....your goal is in site. The Emerald City awaits and the Wizard will present you with your weight goal. Just click your ruby slippers and you'll soon be home. Looks like the wicked witch (temptation) is looking alittle greener at sea as you pass her up.

'n ostensibly havin' a jubiliant july holiday, scary exercise fairie 'n THE CALORIE WATCHER (that's her picture in the avatar section 'o Am's journal) showed up before work this a.m. 'n everyone had a nice workout 'n agreed to meet later fer a second session 'n the question was asked at this ersatz meetin' o' the Diet Minds: "IS AM GOIN' TO LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK?"
The diet fairie had flitted in by then 'n joined in verbalizin' the answer, which was in the affirmative.
The meetin' ended as t'was Black Lagoon Monday! Minutes to be typed later.

I'm sailing to the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago for four days and will return on the 6th. I expect calm seas and a glance at some fireworks over the lake. Happy 4th to you!

Seems that fairie has your best interest at heart with the gentle kind and heart healthy workouts she is discussing with you. I picture you walking on the treadmill with a little fairie on each side of you watching over you.
Glad you like the blue dress. I just loved it when I saw the rich color. Also because it is different looking than the normal wedding renewal dress. My hubby the other day said why not just wear a bikini if we go to Hawaii for the renewal. I think I passed out. A bikini dear me! lol MEN!

Thanks fer the visits! :wave: I really WAS on the go for the week until this afternoon when pretty much my whole work schedule until Friday went down the tubes, leaving me with some nonproductive time but I am happy, also had some arguments re work with someone it be not prudent to argue with but that's life, yellin' it like it is, a day at a time, very stressed, proud to say I have no desire to stress eat!!! Amarantha 07-03-08, 10:02 AM Since Am's meetin's in the nonvirtual work world (aka The Black Lagoon) have been canceled, t'is spa time until Friday evening for Am 'n she thought she'd just kick back, have a spa day, maybe not exercise, maybe have some ice cream, 'n LO, guess what?
UP turned Scary Exercise Fairie, Calorie Watcher 'n the Diet Fairie (a sort of general overall weight loss management fairie, related to both Scary 'n Calorie) 'n they informed Am a meetin' had been called at Weight Management Headquarters 'n Am's presence was needed. :coach:
SO, up she gets from her magazine readin' couch 'n her DS Lite teeny video game 'n trundles on down to headquarters, where an ersatz committee seems to have been formed called AM WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK STEERING COMMITTEE!!!
Am sat 'round the table with this group 'n they hatched out a plan for TERRIFYIN' THURSDAY! Am didn't really like the sound of it as it seemed to involve a lot of work when Am had planned to take it easy and eat ice cream, but she voted for it 'cause Scary seemed set on it. :whip:
FIRST, accordin' to the event schedule, Am will not eat ice cream and will stick to her target of 1500 or less in the cal department! :keys:
SECOND, scheduled is a 60-MINUTE WALK AND A 40-MINUTE WEIGHT WORKOUT!
THIRD, Am 'n the Good Diet Plannin' Marketeer will go to the store and buy healthy foods and not ice cream. NO ICE CREAM, AM! X-(
'Bout covers it. Am voted for it, will implement. Fairies restless, ready to kick some anatomy :whip: 'round Diet Town Square if populace doth not participate in event. All citizens have been asked to cooperate. :help:
The meetin' ended with committee members linkin' hands 'n repeatin' the Slogan o' the Week in loud, dulcet tones: "AM WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK!"

Ah, well, t'will all settle as it usually does (no worries, I won't really get fired, although it'd be nice and I could finally take a nap). :laugh:
Lunch today was a version of THE HEALTHY TURNOVERS that I learned to make from a mutual online friend via a DVD of a TV spot she did. I just got the DVD last week from her and it's so nice to have a healthy something to eat that tastes like dessert.

Amarantha 07-03-08, 10:17 PM Friday being THE FOURTH OF JULY :sam: , Dieter Am be workin' in the Black Lagoon, as always, but this lucky year she doth not have to spend the entire day on the job, just late afternoon and evening, through evening events and fireworks, so the usual stress and bein' dragged away from everything and out in the heat most of the day will not occur 'n SO a meetin' o' the AM WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK STEERING COMMITTEE was held this evenin' at Diet Town Hall so that there would be a PLAN in PLACE from the start o' the still stressful day to the end.
The plan voted on calls for a 30 min walk with weighted vest with an option to walk more without the vest but NOT a mandate, as it's going to be a tough day physically. Component two of the plan is to remain at 1500 or below in cals, striving for the general bodybuilding (yes, including VEGGIES, weight loss diet Am has adopted fer the nonce, but whatever may be inadvertently eaten, the cal count should stay where it is.
The committee enthusiastically voted "aye" 'n the motion passed. Film at 11.

Amarantha 07-04-08, 12:27 PM This fair morn, a Happy Independence Day Fairie dropped in at the little diet digs wherein Am dwelleth in Diet Town Square 'n said, "HAPPY HOLIDAY, AMARANTHA 'N MAY IT BE A GREAT ONE FOR YOU!"
Since Am is workin' most holidays sometimes folks forget she'd like to feel special on that day also so woo-hoo 'n thanks be to the fairie.
Am then went shoppin' early 'n bought DS Lite games for self! Hey, childish it may be, but that little machine is not just for kids. It is one o' Am's best friends these days in the INITIATIVE TO REACH AM'S WEIGHT GOAL! When one is depressed, one can play WordJong or Final Fantasy or Solitaire on a cute little double screen 'n shut out all the negative vibes from the external environment, which is what an eating binge would also do but with the game, there are no nasty calorie gremlins to deal with.
Am is going to go on Amazon and buy the game the store is out of, it's a yoga tutorial game and even though Am has done yoga for years, t'will be fun to have the game.
The AM WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK COMMITTEE sent Am a mental bouquet of Independence Day flowers (since nobody else did :laugh: ) 'n tucked inside the bright blooms :rose: :flower: :spring: , there was a message: "Don't forget to NOT overeat on this stressful day, Am! We know ye have to hie away later to the Black Lagoon 'n earn a nonvirtual livin' o' sorts, but is that any reason to forget the mission of our committee 'n pour sweet drinks full of calories down thy throat in the heat when electrolyte water with zero calories works better? No, it is not such a reason! Stay strong. Calorie Watcher is watchin' ... we know where ye live, we will follow you to the Black Lagoon to make sure you behave and we will, I'm afraid, have to report back to the CHAIRDIETWOMAN o' the AM WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK COMMITTEE 'n she will take appropriate action to remove ye from your seat on this august diet governmental body with all the perks it entails, so don't blow it, Am, as we will know! The 4th got a little problematical fer Am (she got "heatstrokey" according to the paramedic, drank loads of electrolyte water with glucose thus killin' off the cal control resolution but t'was ok 'n Am begrudgeth her bod not re recovery calories, plus then she drank cold slimfast ... yes, this much hated by some fluid is actually useful in some applications and was better than havin' hot dogs in the heat, which would have then made Am ill after she recovered; THEN ... yes, this is starting to sound like Lemony Snicket :laugh: ... Am returned home from work to open doors as house had been robbed ... HER WONDERFUL DOG was guarding the front door and keepin' the cats in).
So that was the fourth of July but Am did exercise earlier in the day (before the heatstroke :laugh: and will be postin' her little list and plan for Saturday!
Feelin' quite chipper now and workin' my patio!

PLAN FOR SATURDAY: Returning to calorie control with permission from Calorie Watcher to eat high if the body requires. As Diet Wise Woman once said (she said a lot of things, apparently): "Listen to your body." So Am's plan for Saturday is to listen to body and hope for the best re the :help: Ceremony o' the Golden Scale, which, at the end o' the day, gentle reader, IS important to Am no matter what anyone thinks o' that :laugh: but yet if things do not go well, there's always next week! Huzzah! Quid pro quo, let's go, WO!

Am hath not been in a mode to placeth entries in a DT bloggie for awhile, it seems, which is probably indicative of something likely, but who knoweth what, but nevertheless, t'is a fun place to blog the weight loss journey 'n well, that must go on, even when Am's limited little grey cells wither in the July desert heat 'n things go wrong 'n zap said brain 'n even when friends leave us (emotionally) 'n even through sturm 'n drang, elections and controversies, wars and rumors o' wars, super volcanoes (the existence of which Am just recently learned about and they are NOT a goodly thing, Gentle Reader), new plans, new aspirations, aging, living 'n dying, seeking eternal life, rejecting eternal life, eating sugared violet petals, planting bougainvilleas (which Am did today in the nonvirtual world, btw, and she's hopin' they are not fryin' in the sun even as she typeth), yea verily, even unto all these, at the end of the day, Am still marcheth mightily (or sometimes slowly 'n reluctantly) towards the quest for the weight management goal and then the physical perfection so far as it is possible o' her already (if she say it herself) fab body, 'cause, well, t'is the only body she possesseth, why not maketh it a good one, huh?
Tomorrow comes the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice. Will it BE a golden scale in attendance or with the Evil False Lyin' No Goodnik Bad Scale Demon STEAL the Golden Scale 'n replace it with a malfunctionin' one o' dross metal that falsely reports a NONHAPPY WEIGH-IN! Film at 11.

Oh Am, I am so sorry to hear about your heat episode and the break in. It's not a great feeling when you are violated like that. I hate that the green went for a walk. I know you are grateful that the animals were not harmed. Get those locks changed and make it more difficult for an intruder to gain entery. When I was in college I had wine bottles lined up across my two windows...hoping the thought of moving the bottles or the threat of broken bottles would be a deterent....that was the only alarm system I could afford8-| Seriously vary your routine, have lights on timers and leave the music on.
Sounds like you are contemplating life these days. I do that...not sure I come up with answers but I tend to feel like I do become more aware and grow from the process. It helps me to mellow out.

I usually do ok in the heat as I've lived here 13 years. Not sure why I've been having these episodes lately! Huzzah!

Members o' the Am Will Maintain Weight This Week Committee also sat in on the meeting 'n asked to be notified of all future action in the Am Weight Management Project Sector, as they are ready and willin' to step in for a week or two if the Losers don't lose for some reason sometime.
Scary X Fairie 'n her sister Diet Fairie, with the help o' Calorie Watcher asked that a plan for the week be drafted and voted upon right then 'n there. It consisted of two parts, including:
EXERCISE PLAN
Sunday, 90 min walk, done
Monday, 30 min walk; 30 min walk with vest, all done in segments during work
Tuesday, weights, no specified time,do total body; jogwalk 20 or as desired
Wednesday, 90 min walk, can divide up if desired
Thursday, repeat Tuesday
Friday, repeat Monday
Saturday, anything goes, maybe Shred-type last chance workout, kick b*tt or kick back, no force or pressure to be applied on the front of discipline this week. Ask us if we care. (We do, actually)
General, add some yoga if desired, using the new game when we get it, before that, don't worry about it; add other elements as desired; kick b*tt or kick back depending on health and how the weight goals play out.
DIET
:keys: 1500 calories or less on average, high or low days ok-dokey, strive for nutrition but no real rules, aim for six small BFL type low glycemic meals, strive not to stress eat but if it happens, hey, no stress, Tuesday is Treat Day wherein REAL ice cream can be eaten or other BAD FOOD!
LIFESTYLE
Practice GWLBs all day every day (e.g., walk around more, slip in extra teeny workouts, don't stress eat (said that) or take care of some of the things causing stress in feeble brain, walk shopping cart back to the cart corral every single time, park far from the cart corral, round cals up not down when logging even if they should be rounded down, much more, take a nap, do yoga when game arrives or stretch (ok, we know Am knows how to do yoga and could go do some right now but we're waiting for the GAME), und so weiter, post Am's little list later.
All parties voted "yea" and everyone had a banana protein shake, even Am, who sometimes has a bad reaction to whole bananas but she only had a quarter for the potassium and this was whirred with immersion blender with Silk Light Plain Soymilk and Walden Calorie Free Maple Syrup. Earlier the group had a Bolthouse Farms Chai Tea Protein Shake.

Re calories, couldn't control today, slipped away, Calorie Watcher just kept watchin' in astonishment as Am kept havin' healthy mini meals beyond the point where her final healthy mini meal would normally have occurred. :laugh: But ok dokey stuff so likely the high day will benefit the bod in the long run as it seeks equilibrium from all its stressors.
Am is not certain what would happen in life if there were no stress. She'd likely just take a lot more naps, which don't burn a lot of calories.
Everything seems to stress Am these days but there seems to be no answer as to how she should go about alleviating this, so sometimes it breaks out in food, which is ok once in awhile but the problem always is that slippery slope.
So Am has poured some concrete on the berm near the slope 'n won't go near it tomorrow, just in case.
Am's yoga game has been shipped so will play with that soon and work that peaceful element into life again. Not sure why the game is necessary as, again, Am is quite well versed in yoga and could have been doin' it every day for the past decade, but there it is, she wants the game.
Reflectin' today that I never go to the gym even though I pay for a membership and even though I be not a slacker and exercise daily and have a gym in my house with everything I need. Reflecting that I need the paid gym for socialization maybe but t'is just too much trouble to drive there. However, I will keep the membership until the end of the year and we'll see. Ok, that was the Entity Known as I just talkin' there. Pay no attention to him (he may be a him, we don't don't, he's a little strange).
Wow, this journal gets so very random on Black Lagoon Day, a result o' the fact that Am is sort of random in and of herself.
Well, whatever, we slog on. One thing is certain, THE GOAL IS IN SIGHT AND IT IS INFINITELY WORTH DOING, SO AM WILL NOT BE FAILIN' TO CONTROL CALS TOMORROW, though she regretteth not the extra food today as it falls under the category of calorie cycling in her book.

It is amazing how our bodies and minds react from day to day. Stress can send ya out to sea and it is hard to see land at times. Keep your compass handy and just keep heading back. Well, not really, but the United Diet-ites, a pseudo-militaristic diet society of die-hard DIETERS that Am belongs to, got all nervous this mornin' re a breach yesterday in DietAmLand's defenses that allowed for calories to float in that were above 2000, which could be a sign of trouble, trouble, trouble in River Diet City, so the Head Diet-ite called Headquarters o' the Special Calorie Control Squad 'n asked that Calorie Martial Law be declared for 24 hours until the Sneaky Extra Calorie Demons :lil: could be rounded up 'n removed from the weekly average.
SO, Calorie Watcher is watchin' extra close today, diet kiddies, 'n Bad Evil Extra Calorie Demons :lil: had better go into hidin' 'cause ...
AM IS GOING TO LOSE OR MAINTAIN WEIGHT THIS WEEK!

Muse for the day: Not mentally into the busy day, just wanna play (girls just wanna have fun, boys, too, methinks, anyhow, Am digresseth); thought occurreth that there be too much stress in Am's brain to lose weight this week, which is why she invited her virtual Maintenance Club members into the "meetin' o' the mind (singular)" yesterday. Today it occurreth to Am just to kick the Stress Demon :lil: out o' the cadre. So kind o' out o' the mode o' carin' what the world thinks (not referrin' to anyone on this forum, referrin' to the nonvirtual world o' Am, wherein she scuttles 'round 'n worries 'bout doin' things 'n thinkin' things 'n tryin' to please the unpleasable 'n that maketh her EAT TOO MUCH BAD FOOD!) ... so, the new plan is to kick back, relax, do the nonvirtual stuff but with ATTITUDE ... 'n hey, the message fer today in Am's brain is unrollin' as ...

All agreed that sometimes t'is hard to see the things that are weighin' us down 'n interferin' with peace 'n mental clarity in the life o' a dieter lass, but now that cloud seems to have passed 'n Am hath sailed away into the land o' diet repose where all will be easy 'n she will enjoy this journey and this journal for awhile, although she's stoppin' in at BOOTCAMP :coach: :whip: :lapd: several times a week nevertheless to hedge all bets!!!
