Whoopee 07-12-08, 02:51 PM Hi folks!
Overall, I have done well on my new way of eating, but I could still do that better than I am doing. I have a real problem with eating healthy. I would much rather have ice cream than a meal. lol
I had lapband done back in 05 or 06 and that has helped me too, but it sure doesn't handle your food choices. I still have lots to go, but I just try to take it one day and one lb. at a time.
I also should be losing quite a bit soon. I have breast cancer. It's stage 2. The Oncologist and surgeon tell me that they feel good about getting all the cancer.
I have had all the tests done, but one. I think chemo will start very soon...not looking forward to it but I do want to get it over with. Then there will be the surgery and then radiation.
I had my lapband loosened on Thursday. I was told that, if I didn't do that and vomited from the chemo, I might have a small problem. So I took care of that. Also, I got my hair cut VERY short yesterday for when I lose my hair it won't be as shocking.
I hope that everyone has a grrrr8 diet day.

Whoopee, Hurray, you started your journal!!! I am so glad. We will be wondering how you are doing when going through your chemo. Will be thinking and praying for you. Do they give you any suggestions on how to keep as healthy as you can through the process? Like daily walking, foods to chose, etc? My sister went through this about 2 years ago but she is far from me and I didn't hear much, except how she was doing etc.
Anyways, keep us updated and thanks for the reminder of looking at this one pound at a time, good point.
smallfri 07-12-08, 08:11 PM Good to see a new journal. Keep going girl.
Amarantha 07-12-08, 08:56 PM Best wishes to you on the start of your treatment, Whoopee. Sounds like a good prognosis.
Hey, I'd rather have ice cream than ANYTHING! Let's have some! :cheer:
Have a great night.
I would much rather have ice cream than a meal. lol
Hey, I'd rather have ice cream than ANYTHING!
Oh boy - some ice cream buddies! Ice cream is my all time favorite thing. I could eat it for 3 meals a day and not miss any other food!
Whoopee, sorry to hear the treatments you have to go through, that really sucks. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers. That's not just something I say - you really will be in my prayers on a daily basis.
Take care and have some ice cream. Hmmm.....maybe a little mint chocolate chip or maybe some Starbuck's Java Chip???
Whoopee 07-13-08, 10:18 AM Thanks so much, Nancy. I see the dr. again on Tues. He should be telling me more then. I've written down some questions, so I'm sure I'll be getting answers.
Thanks Smallfri. I'm not in any pain or anything, so I do feel fortunate about that. (Thank God.) I will keep going.
Amarantha, at your place or mine? lol
Mel, thank you so very much for the prayers. I think my all time favorite is still chocolate chip. All the other flavors are my second favorites. lol
Seriously, what helps me sometimes fight the craving is French Vanilla Slim Fast. It reminds me of ice cream.
I hope you all have a terrific diet day!
Whoopee
Hi Whoopee,
Hmm, speaking of ice cream there are also some wonderful frozen yogurts out there. A store here has a delightful strawberry swirl, you can't tell it isn't icecream but lower in calories and fat!!!
Sorry, all this talk of ice cream and treats is probably not helping, lol.
Hope you have a good Sunday!!!
Whoopee 07-13-08, 05:39 PM lol I will have to look for that when I get a craving for ice cream.
Thanks for the tip, Nancy.
Whoopee
yea..another ice cream buddy! I love it!! Agree, that there is no point to eating regular food when ice cream is offered in our world!! Unfortantly that is probably part of the reason I am this size! I love it year round!
Sorry to here about your health issues but sounds like you have a great attitude and great prognisis! Good luck! We'll be thinking of you and praying for you!
btw, nice to "meet" you!
Whoopee 07-15-08, 10:22 AM Nice meeting you too, Mikey.
That is the reason I am my size too. I just can't walk away from it.
But we're all going to do better about that, right?
Thank you so much for the prayers.
I go to the oncologist today. We might be starting chemo. I will let you folks know.
mugwump 07-15-08, 08:04 PM OK, it's not ice cream, but it's thick and creamy and really satisfies me. Get some fat free yogurt - the real thing, all natural, with no gelatin. Buy a large plain one.
Get some Jello instant pudding and pie filling in your favourite flavour - the fat free, sugar free one. Dump the yogurt in a big bowl, dump in the pudding mix and beat it with a mixer until it's all mixed. It gets very thick, very fast.
I just keep mine in the fridge, I haven't tried freezing it, but it might work.
In any case, you're eating good, healthy, low fat dairy, and the pudding is only about 25 extra calories, but oh my - tasty!
Hugs

Whoopee 07-17-08, 06:13 PM Hi Mugs! I'm glad you posted. That sounds excellent!!!
Also, congratulations on your weight loss 1 lb. ahead of time. Feels good, doesn't it?
I didn't start chemo yet. Maybe next week. My second MRI is scheduled for Sunday morning. Still waiting to hear when the PET Scan is going to be. Then comes the chemo.
I have to stay out of crowds or away from anyone who is sick while I am going thru this. That's going to be tough to do...especially since this is going on for 16 weeks.
Whoopee 07-18-08, 07:46 PM The PET Scan is scheduled for Thurs.
Still no schedule yet for chemo.
I ate a lot today. I really have to watch it!
Hi,
Now you take care of our whoopee, get as healthy as possible before all these treatments. It will help.
Amarantha 07-20-08, 12:30 AM ang in there, Whoopie! You are doin' great and I know you'll sail through this :cruise: !!! Take care!
Whoopee 07-21-08, 06:14 PM awww Thanks Nancy. I know that you are right.
Amarantha - Thanks hon. I get so doggon tired! I know that I will do fine.
Today I am doing real well on my diet. This is unusual for me lately. lol How about you folks?
Whoopee 07-25-08, 07:04 PM Not doing too good on the diet. Tomorrow is a new day...I have to eat more healthy.
I went for my PET Scan yesterday, and I went to the Oncologist today. She told me that every one of the tests I have had turned out clean, except the breast exam and lymph nodes. I am THRILLED!!!!!!!!!!
I go Tues. for a minor operation where they are putting a port in my chest for the chemo. Then, on Wed., I go for chemo. I will be going every week. Every third week will be the toughest I was told. She gave me a list of all the types of chemo I will be getting. I think they will just alternate every three weeks.
*Hugs*
Whoopee
Hey Whoopee, That is wonderful that all your tests turned out well and now you can get on with the chemo and get it done with. Keep us updated iwth how you are feeling, wish we could be there to help more.
I go back and forth with geing on track. I never have a completely ontrack week. Just days at a time. But then that is how we are supposed to do this right, one day at a time, one pound at a time. Now you will be doing things one treatment at a time.
Will be here with you through this.
Whoopie, Nice to meet you, Ice Cream Buddy! I love ice cream too and it has added a few inches to my body! OK we have to start thinking about ice cream in a different way....It is not a delicious and wonderful bite of heaven. We have to convince ourselves that it is Frozen Fat............hmmmm didn't work for me either!:D
I will be praying for you as you enter the next stage of treatment. Five of my friends have had breast cancer, have finished treatment and are doing well.
Two of my friends that had straight hair, ended up with curly hair after chemo! That's a heck of a way to change your hair style. I will be praying that the doctors will give you the most effective treatment and that the side effects will be manageable. I am sorry you have to go through this.
Whoopee 08-04-08, 08:53 PM Thank you both so very much.
Nice meeting you too, CJL.
You're doing great, Nancy. You're right...one lb. at a time. I haven't checked the scale lately, but I did eat quite a bit today. The other days, I really think that I cut back. So glad that overall you are doing real good.
CJL, thanks. It seems like an epodemic with the breast cancer, doesn't it? I love your view on ice cream. I'll try and remember that!
I've been very tired and sometimes my stomach really hurts. Today has been my best day. Wed. I go again for treatment, but it won't be chemo. It will be something that will attack the tumor itself. I'm hoping it won't affect me as much...but I'm sure there are lots more people a lot sicker than I have been from it.
Don't know if I mentioned that I bought a wig. It's past the shoulders and my color. My husb. and I like it lots. My g/f went shopping with me for it. We had a ball.
I'll try typing real soon again.
Love ya both,
Whoopee
Whoppee, so glad to see you.
LOL, sounds like you and your girlfriend had alot of fun. What a great thing to do together. Glad you and hubby both like it. My sister had a real cute one too. After she was done and her hair was growing back her DD wanted to borrow it, lol.
Ok, Wednesday, let us know how it goes.
monicapink 08-04-08, 09:15 PM Hello, :wn
Welcome to Diettalk and to the Journal Forum .. I don't know if you'd be interested in creating a frozen yogurt dessert by SOFT freezing either YOPLAIT LIGHT YOGURT or DANNON LIGHT NONFAT YOGURT ..
I haven't created a frozen yogurt dessert in a long long time .. but if you take for example DANNON LIGHT STRAWBERRY YOGURT .. put it in the freezer to harden just a bit (more like SOFT FREEZE) and then top with fresh strawberries it makes a perfect dessert PLUS you're eating something healthy ..
If you haven't tried YOPLAIT LIGHT yogurts .. they have so many delicious flavors .. only thing is that the mouth of the container is smaller than the DANNON LIGHT YOGURT ..
Again welcome to Diettalk and achieving your weight loss goals. Monica
Whoopee 08-10-08, 11:06 AM Hi folks, and thanks.
I haven't been feeling the best lately, but still I shouldn't complain about it. So many people are in much worse shape than me. It's mainly my stomach. It just doesn't give me a break.
Wed. went well. It was quick and painless. Thanks for asking Nancy. We have a great chemo nurse. She's really on the ball. They all are that we met at the hospital. It only took a couple hours there this time, where the first time it took about six hours.
Thanks for letting me know about the yogurt, Monica. It is appreciated. I have some yogurt in the fridge, so I will try it today.
Hugs to both......

monicapink 08-10-08, 01:16 PM Good Morning, :wn
Have you spoken to your doctor about the problems you are having? Perhaps he/she can suggest foods that will be less disturbing to your digestive system ..
I don't know too much about your medical problems BUT if you are looking for SOFT FOODS perhaps if you like applesauce .. (that's one way of getting a fresh fruit) and can (I think) be easier to digest .. also making a coddled egg .. is one way of getting your protein ..
Take care and REMEMBER YOUR LIFESTYLE CHANGE IS SOMETHING THAT TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE .. and YOU'LL ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS by taking it ONE DAY AT A TIME .. take care of yourself and have and make it a great day .. Monica
Whoopee 08-10-08, 05:34 PM Thanks for your sugg. Monica. I have an appt. on Wed. I always bring them questions written out and I write down the answers. I will be sure to tell her about my stomach. Thanks.
You are right, Monica, one day at a time. Seeing you reminds me that I haven't froze my yogurt yet. lol But, I sure will. The applesauce is a great idea. I love applesauce.
I dropped the weight I had gained recently and now have gained 2 lbs. back. I have to work on that too....which by eating right will automatically take some off.
Thanks a bunch.......

Whoopee 09-04-08, 08:05 PM Hi folks!
Not doing too good with the diet. I'm gaining. I'm sure it's from my medication for the cancer. All I can do is keep trying.
Crazy, overall I'm doing real well. I find out answers to lots of questions on Tues. I only see the oncologist once every three weeks. That's kind of tough because I do have lots of questions.
I'm tired lots of the time and once in a while my stomach will ache. Other than that, I'm doing great. I've had two doctors tell me that they think that my tumor is shrinking. YESSSSSS! I don't know when I'll have another test to check that out yet.
Have a great evening,
Whoopee
