View Full Version : Am's Autumn Journal: Hago the Halloween Hut Personal Diet & Fitness Initiative
Amarantha 07-27-08, 12:31 PM :harvest:Am's Halloween challenge (aka Hago the Halloween Hut Personal Diet & Fitness Initiative) begins this week with a weigh-in that showed no change in weight and that gives Am the clue that the first week of the Initiative is going to be a maintenance challenge.
The Hag o' the Halloween Hut (wise and beautiful hag of a certain age but amazingly resiliant and still full o' life in this sphere o' the diet 'n fitness universe) has arrived in Am Diet Land.
Consquently, many interesting things have happened in Am's brain this week, including the final understanding that some negative people and things in Am's life needed to be removed from her internal self, although they might be around in her external environment for some time ... years, centuries, who can say?
Moving on: IT IS DIET AUTUMN, AM'S FAVORITE TIME! SHE WILL BOTH MAINTAIN HER PROGRESS AND SHE WILL REACH HER GOAL BY HALLOWEEN, FOLLOWED BY MORE MAINTENANCE! SHE WILL ALSO REACH NEW HEIGHTS OF PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL FITNESS AND SHE WILL HAVE FUN AND BE SELFISH AS WELL!
The "challenge" part of this autumn initiative will really be a series of challenges, week by week, as t'is hard to say, sometimes when a different approach is needed.
For the Hag's purposes, Diet Goal Halloween, the target date for Am to reach 125 pounds (and all the other goals), is October 26.
IT IS MANIFEST, AM (AND THE HAG, DIET MAIDENS AND ALL OTHER INHABITANTS OF AM DIET LAND AND THE HALLOWEEN HUT, WILL REACH THEIR GOALS!)
Amarantha 07-27-08, 01:00 PM Here in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Woods (East Diet Am Land, first week of autumn weight management and fitness initiative), Hago the Halloween Hut sits gazing into the fire and consulteth her crystal ball and sees the Hago the Personal Diet 'n Fitness Initiative Steering Committee approaching her door. She sighs gently as she is still consulting with herownself this morn but ushers the other diet folkettes in and in the next hour a plan for the first week of the annual autumn challenge is hashed out, as followeth:
Weight goal is maintenance at that darlin' round number o' 130, which Diet Maiden Am really thinks is soooooooo cute that she doth not seek to change it yet. Implementation is to be by dint o' A REAL EFFORT TO REACH AN AVERAGE IN THE 1500s OR BELOW BY NEXT CEREMONY O' THE GOLDEN SCALE O' DIETARY JUSTICE!
Fitness goal is to reach a gentle state of fit relaxation this week through small increases in yoga practice (have been away from that for awhile, an incremental approach is optimum), plus two weight workouts (optimum for Am right now, may increase again later), gentle walks (walking is good, we do not denigrate walking in Diet Am Land), gentle jogs and jog walks and whatever else suits our fancy), PLUS the addition of one rest from formal exercise day, which will be Monday so that our desire to exercise does not interfere with our desire to be rid of the deadline work as quickly as possible.
The official Hago challenge reportin' secretary will create a different way to post the minutes o' the official Steerin' Committee meetings and reports during this initiative as all were gettin' bored with Am's Little List.
The publicity chair hath put out a cry to Am that all posts be peaceful, positive 'n short on this journal (well, seems Am is ALREADY not complyin' with that, but we hope for better things).
With a magickal cry of WAZOOOO!!! the meetin' ended 'n Hag got back to her fire 'n crystal ball gazin', plus she's gettin' out the cauldron to conjure up some magickal spells, both good (for good little diet maidens) and bracingly medicinal (in the spiritual sense, for any recalcitrant diet maidens who seek to hold on to old negativity and improper diet 'n fitness thought patterns or anything else negative :whip: ... sorry, that :whip: always has to be there in a weight loss journey, gentle readers, any Amaranthas who thinks this is a journey for wimps will be havin' a talk with Hag this autumn or one of Hag's scarier minions ... like the Goal Goblin X-( ... he's tough!)
Scary film at 11. WAZOOOO!
:pum:Looks like the journey to Halloween is going to be filled with adventure and success!:pum:
aria2000 07-27-08, 06:38 PM Hi Am, have fun with your new journal and congratulations on your maintain! :rose:
Amarantha 07-27-08, 07:37 PM Thanks, CJL 'n Aria! Am 'n the Hag are busy cleanin' the hut for the morrow!
millie47 07-27-08, 08:15 PM Hi Am,
Love your new Halloween journal! Sounds like it is going to be fun to read it. You are doing so great, I just love the fun you put into it. The dum LASS scale has to move one day soon! keep rolling your doing great!
Lot's of hugs!!! Millie
Amarantha 07-27-08, 11:21 PM Thanks, Millie!! T'is ok 'bout the maintain, this is what I wanted to happen, so Am be on track for fall (yep, know t'is August but t'is fall to Am  )!!! Wazoooo!
Amarantha 07-27-08, 11:37 PM As t'is now AUTUMN, Hago the Halloween Hut decided to take her usual nightly constitutional under the full moon that seems to perpetually hang 'bout in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods (even though t'was only 6 p.m. 'n in the nonvirtual southwestern U.S. where Am sometimes thinks she lives, the sun had not set). Some Diet Maidens from a nearby hut joined her 'n decided to question her on the true nature of "WAZOOOO!"
Hago was mum on the subject, sayin' to the Diet Maidens that they'd have to figure it out for theirownselves or "WAZOOOO!" would be WORTHLESS!
She did not define WORTH or elaborate further.
A meetin' o' the Halloween Hut Initiative Calorie Watchers 'n Fitness Fanatics Guild took place in Hago the Halloween Challenge Hut Village 'n everyone agreed to meet nightly 'n post their DAILY CALORIE 'N EXERCISE ACHIEVEMENTS on the clubhouse wall in disappearin' ink so they could be ogled 'n "WAZOOOO!ed" by all the members.
Am's Achievements, Sunday, 1580, 15 min yoga, 15 min jog/walk, 45 min walk, (evening) 30 min ez walk
:pum:
Hi AM,
I like your first entry when you comment about banishing negative people from your internal self. I often refuse to think about negative people 'cause it gives me more peace. I also like your comment about being selfish sometimes.. some ME time is a real blessing.
Keep up the good work.. I love reading your journal, best from Melly.
Amarantha 07-28-08, 09:14 AM Thanks for the visit 'n the encouragement, Melly! Refusin' to think 'bout negativity in all forms is a good idea!
Amarantha 07-28-08, 09:50 AM The Scary Halloween Costume Steerin' Committee met for the first time this morn' when Hago had to run outside in her sleepin' outfit (really exercise clothes, she's ever at the ready for some exercise when the mood strikes) as the Small Animal Known as Halloween Dog slipped out o' the gate when Hago took out the trash on what was supposed to be a rest from exercise day, so Hago chased after her and grabbed her and put her inside, then felt like goin' for a lifestyle walkabout in the pre-dawn 'n there she met up with some members o' the Halloween Costume Guild 'n they got to talkin' 'bout their favorite holiday garb 'n ended up walkin' an hour (even though this be Deadline Day from the Black Lagoon in the nonvirtual Am World 'n she must stop playin' Halloween games soon).
Hago, bein' such a lovely hag o' an uncertain age (mayhap a thousand years, she's SO old 'n wise re her favorite topic o' diet management 'n fitness that even SHE doth not remember the exact figure), she figureth tht she doth not need to order costumes for the AMAZING AMARANTHA-LIKE PERSONAL DIET 'N FITNESS HALLOWEEN INITIATIVE, already underway at a location near YOU!
WazOOOO!
Followin' the walk, Hago ate breakfast and led a short yoga session, accompanied by some Diet Maidens who happened by. Then she told them to leave as she had work to do that did not include DIET MANAGEMENT AND FITNESS!
But then, she mused, as she stared once more into the Diet Crystal Ball, what DOESN'T include DIET MANAGEMENT 'N FITNESS?
What is more important, she asked self, than to live life in a healthy, fit body and at a rational weight.
She remembereth a time, long ago in the mists o' time, when she did the opposite 'n it really was not a good idea to return to that state again, she mused, idley, as she surveyed the sodium content of her breakfast.
So, though Hago be ever up for a return to the reality o' her authentic self 'n her haglike roots, she will NOT be goin' in the direction where any extra weight might be found 'n if she should stray in those lands again, she'll escape as soon as she recognizes her mistake in direction.
Wazooo, what a long diet muse for a busy day.
aria2000 07-28-08, 10:30 AM Hi Am!
I'm glad you were able to chase down your dog...sounds like a cardio event for sure! She apparently didn't know it was a rest from exercise day. Looks like you will have to mark her calendar too! Congrats on hour long walk, even if it wasn't planned!
millie47 07-28-08, 05:51 PM Hi Am,
Sounds like you got more walk in there you wanted. Don't you just love them furr babies!

Amarantha 07-29-08, 10:54 PM  Where Am dwelleth in the nonvirtual world, t'is summer in spades and double for approximately seven months of the year, so she'll just go on enjoyin' her LONG extended mental autumn, C. Thanks for the visit, though.
Autumn? What are you wishing for? Some of us want to enjoy what little summer we get! ;)
Amarantha 07-29-08, 10:59 PM Thanks, JoJo! Yea, I am partial to my furbabies. Little dog hasn't escaped for the last 24 hours so I see that as progress. Thanks for visitin' me!

Amarantha 07-30-08, 12:12 AM Hago 'n all the genteel folk 'n folkettes o' the ghostly hallows known as the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods had a deep interpersonal confab within their inner circle this long Tuesday 'n most o' the details o' that discussion are still hush-hush 'n under wraps, but one thing did emerge, the consensus o' the group be that for a few weeks the Diet Maiden Known as Am, Top Contender on the race for 125 pounds in the Halloween challenge might respectably expect only to maintain the nice round figure o' 130 fit 'n fab pounds that she (modestly) lays claim to at present, possibly through August, since this loverly autumn season be so long this year.
Efforts on Tuesday netted 1595 cals :check: plus 30 min walk :check:, 30 min yoga :check:, 30 min weights (tb, moderate wt, supersets with no rest between sets, finished time with walking lunges and no weight) :check:, weighted vest is retired for the time being so no other bases remained 'n formal exercise was over!
Jumpsoda 07-30-08, 07:17 AM People fall into two types of personalities, Tiggers and Eeyores. You have a definite can do "Tigger " personality.
A long virtual summer AM,
could you please wrap up some of that sunshine and fire it over to me.. and while your at it, could you send warm booties to keep this old biddies' toes and feet hot.
They tell us the cold snap is set to depart by the weekend, then back to ordinary winter weather, whatever that may be.. with all this debate about global warming. Personally I'm opting for the ice age theory.
Your exercise rountine as directed by the diet committee is bound to make you slim, trim, fit and TERRIFIC.
Keep up with getting healthier and healthier, best from Melly
Am, Looks like your temps are pretty high these days. Stay cool in the land of autumn leaves! Looks like you are in great shape for the race! Happy Hump Day to ya!!
aria2000 07-30-08, 09:35 AM Hi there, Am!
Amarantha 07-30-08, 10:04 AM Thanks be to Jump, Aria, CJL 'n Melly fer visits whilst Hago the Halloween Hut was sleepin' in the autumn woods 'n the AUTUMN LEAVES O' GOLD 'N CRIMSONwere a'swirlin' 'bout the diet challenge hut!
Jump, I definitely want to always be Tigger, as be not Eyeore the mule who doesn't like the way things are so he just sits there 'n complains. ... no profit in that.
Melly, Am has already chased away the summer heat this morn, seemingly, as t'is somewhat coolish out there, but later when we rise to triples, ye can have some warm air if ye wish. Ye can send me the teeniest bit o' autumn :snow: !
CJL: Thanks fer the Hump Day Greetin's, methinks t'will be a happy day as am thinkin' o' baggin' all work trips 'n goin' for meditative walk in water park 'n then Sprouts 'n then a nap, we'll see.
ARIA!!! Howdy! I am thinkin' o' that loverly park I told ye 'bout in your neck o' the woods! Overlay with orange.
Amarantha 07-30-08, 10:57 AM As the witchiepoo CEO o' an important diet 'n fitness corporation (Hago the Halloween Hut Diet 'n Fitness Challenge Ltd.), Hago decided she needed to talk to all her scary Diet Halloween Challenge minions more in the mornin' (she's a night person). So this mornin' she called all the Goal Ghouls over to the Scary Diet Hut in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Diet Woods 'n they talked 'bout the idea the Maintenance Monsters had yesterday 'bout stayin' at 130 pounds for the month o' August as the first part o' the Halloween Challenge 'n then movin' to a more aggressive stance to actually LOSE the last five pounds in the months o' September and October to the 26th, at which time :secret: the possibility exists o' shiftin' Diet Maiden Am's Ultra Goal to 120 (no comments, please, universal diet world, as this is NOT a really low weight for Am 'n Am and her medical and fitness teams know what they are doin' with her weight and goals :) ). This possible plan is only tentative and may be put to a vote o' Amarantha, Amarantha and Amarantha on the Ultra Goal Subcommittee.
The Goal Ghouls are ambivalent. Hago was only half listenin' as she wants to go shoppin' in Diet Village and take a walk in the water park.
Film at 11. WAZOOOO!
millie47 07-30-08, 11:34 PM Hi Am,
As always I enjoyed reading your journal.
We are to hot here in the North and I hear the weekend will be worst, so I am sure keeping my AC on. I don't do heat very well.
Hey I think Maintenance is a good thing to work on also. I am not sure if I would know how to do Maintenance, so you can learn all about it then let me know how to do it when or If the time every come's for me.
Hope you have a great Thursday!
....hugs, Millie
Amarantha 07-31-08, 12:28 AM Thanks for the visit, Millie! I'm only going to do maintenance for awhile, just to ready the bod for the shift to aggressive weight loss in for two months. We'll see! :) Be well, lass!
Amarantha 07-31-08, 12:35 AM :harvest: Pontificated elsewhere on the web on my food habits and autumn plans am cross posting it here mostly for me to read if the spirit moveth me! This was in response to a question re my "experiments" with food and menus recently.
"Well, Hago IS a scientist so she's conjurin' up this 'n that to form some better eating options, as lately she's been blocked by no time and a lot of heat and has been prey to more processed foods and not feelin' well generally, so the experiment is more in menus at the moment than specific recipes, formatting menus and easy options that I cook myself but can store, so the short answer is no, no new recipes at present but getting there.
Also experimenting starting today with going back to the way I ate on my own modified version of Sugar Busters, which included 2 percent milk instead of soy and ONLY Ezekial bread or Dee's Mighty Muffins or own whole wheat baking for bread. More on that later. Counting calories, of course (which isn't done on Sugar Busters), and watching sodium better.
This version of SB I'm doing (my own, as the official Sugar Busters has pretty much gone bust), isn't going to be as strict as I was re SUGAR (in the sense of sucrose) but be aware that Hago is going to root out the evil of HFCS from the land (actually Sugar Busters bans all corn products of any kind, which doesn't seem necessary, so just HFCS must go).
Will repeat, felt better on Sugar Busters (though nutritionists hate it and folks thought it was a fad diet, which it isn't, it's just a low glycemic, loose food plan) than on any other WOE ever, so shall take what I can from that and form it into something new. All should be aware that Am is never going to really BAN anything again as that just sets up too many rules and rules are gettin' in Am's way these days, but truly right now, the experiment is how to root out HFCS and sodium.
I hesitate sometimes to post my menus here though many knoweth well how Am eats and thinks, t'is sometimes not a good example for others 'cause veggies aren't on the menu a lot and sometimes Am only wants to eat a Dee's and drink some milk (soy or dairy) or a protein shake (low carb, usually EAS or Designer Whey) and she's been known to consider a Slim Fast the equivalent of a Godiva Truffle (I just like Slim Fast).
This is not going to change, overall. Am lost more than 100 pounds pretty much doin' as she thought best and makin' sure she had satisfying food and that's a central issue to her in WOE.
All of which is summed up more or less in a modified Sugar Busters. However, when Am did it before she was way too strict about it and it got hard to root 'round the world and do her job 'cause food to grab 'n go was harder to find, so we'll see.
Another idea I am playin' with is to follow the food plans in Jillian Michael's book "Shred," the recipes are very good looking.
Still love Tosca, sorry that the magazine did not seem to catch on. I don't think they are publishing it again.
SO, THE SHORT ANSWER IS NO NEW RECIPES RIGHT NOW BUT I'LL BE BACK WITH SOME SOON. :)
Amarantha 07-31-08, 12:46 AM And night falleth in Scary Autumn Challenge Headquarters as Hago keeps fallin' asleep. She will go to nonvirtual, nondiet village tomorrow to work, at least for half a day but principles of THE RIGHT EATS will follow her wherever she wandereth until safely back in the Halloween Diet Hut o' Rational Autumn Righteous Diet 'n Fitness Lifestyle.
Calories: 1520 :check: , 15 min jog, 15 min walk, 30 min yoga :check: !!!
It is manifest, Hago will maintain her weight this week as will Diet Maiden Am, 'n all the Ghoul Gals!
We'd actually take a loss if it came but that's not our aim nor claim to fame as right now we seek the same.
We will succeed, Hago says, utterin' the magickal word: "WAZOOOO!"
Sounds like ya got a plan for the nonvirtual world. Be in the world not of the world!
Amarantha 07-31-08, 11:08 AM Great mantra, CJL. Hago will keep that in mind!
Sounds like ya got a plan for the nonvirtual world. Be in the world not of the world!
Amarantha 07-31-08, 11:11 AM The Goal Goblin Ghouls are askin' that this Am Diettalk Blog entry be posted in the Hago journal as well so Am will be able to refer to it easily and so that a nonvirtual acquaintance who reads this journal and often has opinions 'bout it  will be informed and not seek to form a verbal thought 'bout it  :
"Amarantha hath this day officially taken the action of rounding out her ULTRA HEALTHY WEIGHT MANAGEMENT GOAL to 120 rather than 125, which gives her a bit more wiggle room should she EVER actually REACH the previous goal of 125 and then have an eatin' binge, which, of course, she is not plannin' to DO but one never knows.
Not seekin' comments or approval on this healthy weight that Am would like to live out her life at (after she GETS there, finally, which could take awhile).
For the Halloween Challenge, Am is still only seekin' 125.
Let's face it, Am is DELIOURSLY (sic) happy with 130 and again has set up the whole month of August to just maintain that nice round figure! Then on to 125 by October 26 and hopefully 120 by January 1.
To anyone who has expressed worry by p.m. here or in person in the nonvirtual world (but reads here) 'bout Am bein' mayhap a tad obsessed with weight management or who worries that this goal is too low, it is not too low (it was the original goal once proposed by the physician Am first was with re start of the journey from 247), it is a healthy weight for a person of Am's height, lifestyle and age and well ... t'is a ROUND number and Am likes that.
So Am, and Hago, are soldierin' on.
Another new development yesterday: a move back to MODIFIED Sugar Buster eatin' principles plus calorie averaging as before and exercise, too, of course, and have added daily yoga to ROUND it all out.
We soldier on! :cheer2: " :harvest:
Although I know ye not seekin' comments or approval I totally agree with having flexibility with the goal weight. I did that when my goal was 125 and it helped me to be more relaxed and less bound to an absolute number. The freedom was liberating and actually helped me to be more healthy physically and emotionally.
Amarantha 07-31-08, 08:08 PM Thanks, CJL! Yes, those are the kind of reasons I factored into my decision.
I had another weird one, too, that I didn't mention. See, I have this kind of goal to live to be 120, which is a little older than the oldest woman alive (who recently died, still mentally sharp, yay for her) and so I kind of like the synergy of the number 120. It represents something to me. :)

Amarantha 07-31-08, 10:02 PM "Wazoooo, wazoooo, wazoooo," intoned Hago the Halloween Hut as she stirred her cauldron at dusk in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods 'n mused on all things dietary 'n fitness-related in the universe.
T'was no magickal hag brew in the cauldron, however, but only dinner, a nice concoction o' whole wheat pasta and a teeeny amount o' spinach, one o' the few veggies that Hago (bein' originally o' the Non Veggie Lovin' populace from the Not-So-Emerald Isle o' Diet Hags o' a Certain Age Who Just Can't Get Into the Produce Mode.)
Hago put ever-so-small a fragment o' real parmesan cheese on top o' this and ate some and it pleaseth her and had health benefits, undoubtedly, but she ate for her own pleasure and mused on how good a diet day she'd had, so she called in a report to Hago the Halloween Hut Diet Challenge Central on her cell phone right then 'n there o' the followin' accomplishments:
Calories: 1560 :harvest:, 30 min weights, 60 min walk, 15 min yoga! :check:
Feelin' that not much more needed to be done to the day, Hago's away!
"WAZOOOO!"

Amarantha 08-01-08, 04:37 PM :) But did ye have to say CHOCOLATE, lass! Hmmm, at least I have some EAS chocolate fudge low carb shakes in the fridge, one should be good right now. Ye HAVE to try these, although I am going back to plain 2 percent milk for the most part now that I am doin' the new eating program (for health, not weight loss, although they are related. Chocolate, btw, IS a health food ye know!

Amarantha 08-01-08, 05:02 PM ... 'N Diet Am was goin' to go to the Black Lagoon to work or she was goin' to fire up her magickal computer and work here but in the end, the computer broke 'n Am had to call Hago (who is the competent one in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods) to fix it 'n then Am did not FEEL like workin' (ever again) 'n decided to go to the gym where she hath not set foot for months, preferrin' to work out at home or in the park or anywhere else but the blah gym, but t'is hot and the gym's AC and many amenities beckoned 'n Am decided she ought to go there to do mixed cardio and core at least a few days a week or take a class or SOMETHIN' to justify her membership fee.
'N that was the mornin'. Hago fixed the computer 'n ever mindful o' the new low gi eatin' plan, Am went 'n got some Uncle Sam Cereal, the darlin' o' the die hard Sugar Buster's set. It is very good 'n hath no bad stuff in it.
Film at 11. WAZOOOO!
Amarantha 08-01-08, 10:47 PM Ahhh, the loveliness o' the low glycemic eatin' 'n peaceful yoga that Hago, Diet Am 'n all the little Halloweenite Challengers have been a'practicin' these days. Everyone is bein' so exemplary in adhering to their individual weight management 'n fitness plans here in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods 'n there has been no need a'tall fer Hago to have to wave her magickal scary wand :whip: 'n talk to any recalcitrant dieters X-( 'bout their bad dietary behavior 'cause EVERYDIETAM'S behavior has been fantastic 'n peace 'n love 'n kumbaya have settled on the Scary Autumn Halloween Diet 'n Fitness Challenge Woods.
YI-)
Hago's report on her own activities: 1590 cals :check: ; 30 min jog/walk combo between treadmill and indoor track at gym (decided should go there more, even though have gym in my house and also like exercising alone outdoors, but it was a zillion degrees out at 5:30 a.m. so the gym beckoned) , 15 min core circuit, also at gym; 15 min yoga (at home).
WAZOOOO!
millie47 08-01-08, 11:19 PM Hi Am,
Great job on your work out at the gym! I don't blame you for wanting to be were it is cool, I am so with you there, I need my AC!
I bet you are glad your computer is fixed. I would be lost with out mine.
That was a good idea to freeze the pasta dish, hmmm! I love pasta better than any candy or sweets.
Have a great Saturday my friend!!
....Hugs, Millie
Amarantha 08-01-08, 11:48 PM Thanks for the visit, lass! Let's both have an OUTSTANDIN' Saturday! I have to work for a short while but then will be shoppin' for healthy food once more. I do a lot o' that these days, seemingly!
I am glad that somebody is not getting into trouble from the diet committe for being naughty.. Shush, don't tell them that I sort of got socializing this week, and forgot to stop at the appropiate times. What they don't know won't upset them.. Another week looms and another opportunity to get more healthy!
Keep up the good work, best from Melly
Amarantha 08-02-08, 10:56 AM  Ok, Am won't rat ye out to the Diet Committee!!! Yea, another week and opportunity to be healthy, reach our goals and feel GREAT! I am for it! Wazoooo! :cheer:
aria2000 08-02-08, 11:15 AM Hi there Am!
Amarantha 08-02-08, 11:17 AM The magickal cry o' "WAZOOOO!! WAZOOOO! WE CAN DO (IT)!!!" rang through the Scary Diet Halloween Challenge Environment this loverly August AUTUMN morn, as the Hago the Halloween Hut Challenge Troopers :cheer2: walked briskly through the red-'n-gold leaves in an easy-breezy early mornin' walk led by Scary Exercise Fairie, the Virtual Fantasy Character Personal Trainer, who wore a ghost costume for the session, as it IS Halloween season, is it not? :bghost:
Hago led the chantin' o' the magickal WAZOOOO incantation 'n gave a bracin' little speech to all that she was proud of their work this week 'n hopes the MAINTENANCE ANGEL will, indeed, show up at the FIRST Ceremony o' the Golden Scale this autumn challenge group will hold in approximately 24 hours where the goal be only to maintain (although IF the WEIGHT LOSS IMAGINARY FRIEND turns up, she'll be welcome as well, as we will never turn our friends away if they've come to stay ... well, some friends we probably would but not the WEIGHT LOSS IMAGINARY FRIEND, we REALLY like her and would NEVER wish to make her mad).
All chatted 'n discussed plans for the day as everyone was thinkin' o' hoppin' aboard the ferry :cruise: bound for the Black Lagoon (name source: THE CREATURE OF THE BLACK LAGOON ... someone asked me about this, just responding ... the part of the nonvirtual world that contains work assignments, locations and nonvirtual unpleasant people and situations in general) to get some things done 'n justify their paychecks. It was discussed how the ferry 'n the Black Lagoon in general were RIFE (rife, I tell, ye, rife) with bad food, evil eating opportunities and stress-that-causes-overeatin'-from-more-than-likely-an-excess-of-cortisol-floodin'-the-bod. ALL AGREED THEY WOULD REMEMBER THE MAGIC INCANTATION ('WAZOOOO!') 'n use it as a psychological weapon 'gainst givin' in to the evil eatin' ways o' the Black Lagooners!
"That is good," said Hago, who was serene, youthful 'n loverly this morn' as no one was givin' her any problems or behavin' dietarily in a way that might stir her inner hag. :whip: X-(
She picked a sprig o' loverly autumn flowers from the loamy cool soil 'n placed it in her haggy pocket.
Everyone walked an hour 'n then went to their respective huts to shower.
Wazoooo! There's nothin' more to say, time to start the day, yay.
:harvest:
Amarantha 08-02-08, 11:19 AM Ye snuck in whilst Am was a'typin' away, Ms. A! But ye are always as welcome as the flowers in autumn. :flower: Thanks for the howdy!

Amarantha 08-03-08, 04:40 AM Huzzah to thee, Millie! :) Am's Ceremony o' the Golden Scale is not until tomorrow (or today as t'is after the witchiepoo hour o' midnight). Am always does a weigh-in on Sunday at the same time o' the mornin'. So whether t'is the Maintenance Angel, the Weight Loss Fairie or the Evil False Lyin' Demon :lil: Scale (the one who FALSELY records a higher number than the week before), Am doth not know yet. She's just up trollin' 'round the internet fer awhile.

Amarantha 08-03-08, 02:27 PM :harvest: Autumn hath borne fruit 'n literally years of hard work and focus have paid off because 'not with a bang, nor a whimper, the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice this week brought unexpected results to participants in Hago the Halloween Hut's Scary Autumn Halloween Challenge.
T'was like this ye see, instead o' the nice Maintenance Angel, that Hago had asked to drop by 'n be the honored guest at the weekly weigh-in wherein all things resolve themselves 'n all Diet Maidens, Fitness Fairies 'n Exercise Elves have a chance to assess their scale progress 'n go "HUZZAH" or "UH-OH," Our Weight Loss Friend came instead 'n all participants in the ceremony (including not only Supreme Witchipoo 'n Halloween Challenge Leader Hago the Halloween Hut, but also Diet Maiden Am, Am the Younger, Am 'n Am, plus assorted magickal diet 'n fitness folkettes, fairies 'n aforesaid elves) saw that they had ALL coincidentally lost FOUR POUNDS, which they said later they ascribed to strict adherence to a moderate calorie count and low glycemic eating, plus sensible exercise 'n they modestly expressed the hope that this was not a fluke, but it SEEMS: ... ta da ... THAT ... ta da ... AMARANTHA HATH CROSSED THE RUBICON INTO THE LAND O' THE 120s!
Autumn is SO much fun. Film at 11.
millie47 08-03-08, 03:19 PM Oh My God AM, I wanted to check out your post early for some reason and look what you went and done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to GO FRIEND!!!!!!!! I AM JSUT SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! A BIG CONGRATS :koala::cheers::koala:!!!! I knew you would do it and you sure should be PROUD, You have WORKED hard for it!!!!

.....Hugs, Millie
aria2000 08-03-08, 05:05 PM OMG here too, Am!!!
Amazing! :bravo:
JoThrive 08-03-08, 06:27 PM CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, MY DEAR FRIEND!!!
You have really worked for this for so long, and I am very happy for you.
Enjoy -
Amarantha 08-03-08, 07:19 PM Thanks be to friends Millie, Aria 'n JoJo fer their congratulatory words on Am's modestly (she posted it EVERYWHERE) expressed success in hoppin' on her Halloween broomstick 'n flyin' o'er the line to the 120s (somethin' she really wasn't expectin' right now and FOUR POUNDS is a miracle). Am would modestly say that t'was probably just water weight 'n it might come back, but she really doesn't think it will, however, there will be CONSTANT VIGILANCE in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Forest this week to eat low GI and minimal use of processed foods, plus the usual calorie countin' 'n exercise, but the latter is going to be kept kind of low key for awhile as Am continueth to reduce stress. She is also takin' two days at least off from yoga (forgot to do it yesterday, had such a long shopping day with friend).
Am 'n Hago 'n all the troops, if they do say so themselves, feel pretty dang good 'bout this weight management project now, so t'is full, but gently yogic (after the remaining day off) speed ahead 'n dang the torpedoes. :cheer2:
:check: No report from yesterday, cals were good, all food low sodium, low GI and less processed choices except for the Mickey D cheeseburger eaten because it was available and a good choice to manage blood sugar at the time, exercised same as usual except skipped yoga as noted, had active lifestyle day including a few hours of work and dealing with a work crisis in Black Lagoon (when ISN'T there a work crisis?), a more peaceful outlook on life, hope for the future and yea this is NOT only the result of a good weigh-in but to deny after years of working on this journey that it is heavily related to saving own life, living life that was denied some of my loved ones and just plain stubborn insistence on own part that life for me is better at a lower weight and with nice biceps than otherwise.
This is no small thing. Am will take it as a gift from the universe and not waste it.
Film at 11. Wazoooo! "LIFE IS GOOD," as someone once said. :harvest:
Amarantha 08-03-08, 10:26 PM Still reelin' from the earlier General Dance o' Dietary Joy earlier in the day when all the Ams 'n Hago found themselves unexpectedly in the 120s following YEARS of work (literally, YEARS) on the weight management initiative o' Amarantha 'n all the entailed entities, Hago the Halloween Hut, phoned in a quick update re the day's activities in Halloween Challenge Land on this Historic Sunday:
:check: 1575, 30 min jog/walk, 45 min walk, active lifestyle, rest from yoga day
Say good-night, Gracie.
Good-night, Gracie.

Good Night Gracie!!!! You HAD a GREAT DAY!....Hugs, Millie
Am, What a wonderful day for ye! I knew you would reach the 120's, but what a wonderful surprise for you when you reached it on a day you were not expecting it. It is a day you dreamed about when you start the weight loss journey. It must have been a surreal moment when you realize you had crossed from dream dimension to reality diminsion and the parallel universes became one. I am very happy for ye and very proud of ye!
Amarantha 08-04-08, 09:50 AM T'was, indeed, quite surreal, CJL, 'cause Am was only trollin' fer Maintenance Angel to come by! Huzzah! Thanks for the visit!

Amarantha 08-04-08, 10:12 AM :harvest: "Autumn has borne fruit already 'n the voice o' the Ghoul Goblin hath been heard somewhat in Am Diet Land," Hago the Halloween Hut told an early mornin' group o' Halloween Diet 'n Fitness Challenge participants waitin' at dockside fer the ferry to take them to Nonvirtual Black Lagoon to deal with all the stuff they don't like, which always happens to them in the Black Lagoon 'cause that's where the All-The-Stuff-Am-Doesn't-Want-to-Think-'Bout Creature lies in wait, but nevertheless, we must go there sometimes.
"Now this Amazin' 'n Awesome Occurrence o' the Weight Loss Nonvirtual Friend (WLNF) havin' visited us yesterday in lieu o' the Maintenance Angel we were askin' to attend our nice Sunday Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice 'n how the WLNF brought us the gift early on in this August Autumn o' movin' into the Land o' the 20s (WAZOOOO!) should not at all make us complacent as we have not REALLY reached our new goal o' a nice 'round figure 120!" she continueth.
All the challenge participants (Am, Diet Am, Am the Amazin', Exercise Fairie, Diet Fairie, Low Glycemic Index Queen, Low Sodium Lass 'n many others) nodded in solemn agreement with their leader's words.
"So," continueth Hago, "let's continue to focus on mayhap seein' our loverly pal, Maintenance Angel, this coming Sunday and not even THINK 'bout any possibility of any regains. Let's be clear on this, troops, THERE WILL BE NO LEAVIN' THE LAND O' THE 120S IN THIS CHALLENGE! X-( ... remember I have my magickal wand :whip: to deal with any backsliders 'n there will be SEVERE CONSEQUENCES visited upon any diet challenge participant who strays from the straight 'n narrow diet 'n fitness path this week. Remember Hag is VERY GOOD at turnin' folks into objects in nature, like flowers :flower: or fruit :Orange: ... so let's all join hands 'n sing, 'Kumbaya!' :ghug: 'n, oh here's the ferry :cruise: ... do have a loverly day, ladies."
Complacent....nothing good comes from it! I'm glad it is not a welcomed guest!
Amarantha 08-04-08, 10:44 PM Thanks, CJL! I tried to pm thee earlier but you'd elected not to receive messages. Hope all is well and ye are back with a new journal soon as I enjoy talkin' to ye!

Amarantha 08-05-08, 12:07 AM Followin' a lengthy stay in the Black Lagoon, Hago climbed aboard her hagbroom 'n whooshed away to the Halloween Hut without speakin' to a soul this e'en 'n she thought good thoughts o' all the little diet maidens mayhap snug in their cottage beds safe from Evil Edibles Demons :lil: , Binge Demons 'n all manner o' Doughnut Demons :lil: that might be in the neighborhood. Hago mused in front o' the fire a little (because television has not yet been invented in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Diet Woods wherein Hago resides in her hut), then she phoned (by direct transfer o' thought because neither the cell phone nor the internet had likewise been invented in the DDD Woods) in her report o' the day's challenge activities: :check: 1575 cals; :check: 15 min walk, 60 min jog/walk, 15 min yoga.
Tired, she decided to take a nap before the Black Lagoon called with items re the work.

Amarantha 08-05-08, 11:28 AM Hago aroseth early 'n sat down at her ancient non-electric TYPEWRITER (a machine for creating typed letters on paper that predates computers  and requires no internet connection and no ISP fees) 'n tapped out a plan for TUESDAY 'n a note to the Hago Halloween Hut Diet Challenge Steerin' Committee that had said they would stop by the hut for an early mornin' meetin'!!! Hago's message said,
"GONE OFF TO DO THINGS! DO NOT OVEREAT TODAY OR THE HAG WILL CALL THE CALORIE POLICE 'N THEY'LL ARREST THEE 'N THROW YE IN CALORIE JAIL!
aria2000 08-05-08, 11:30 AM No no no, you don't want to go to the Calorie Jail :lapd:

Amarantha 08-06-08, 03:02 AM Hago has started up a nightly newsmagazine on the happenin's in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Forest. Featured in ALL the stories and pictured on ALL the covers is the topic nearest 'n dearest to Hago's diet heart: HERSELF, aka HAGO, aka HAGO THE HALLOWEEN HUT, HAG O' THE HALLOWEEN HUT, HAGO DIET 'N FITNESS HAG EXTRAORDINAIRE, und so weiter.
The first cover shows Hago in an aspect o' deep thought with a LAND LINE TELEPHONE (remember those?) held to her ear. The related story inside references Hago communicating to Halloween Diet Challenge Central Volunteer Phonebank 'n Data Collection Headquarters 'n updatin' them on her diet 'n fitness management efforts for Tuesday.
In a nutshell, Hago 'n all her Diet Maiden friends, Fitness Fairie Fiends, Ghoul Goals, Low Glycemic Goblins (und so weiter) racked up 1490 cals :check: ; 45 min weights, 15 min yoga, 15 min walk :check: ; good lifestyle activity :check: ; low GI eating; and the ever-popular rational attitude :check:
Film at 11. Visit us at www.hagohappenings.com (don't, there's no such address, it is all a figment o' the hag's imagination, but ye knew that.)
Goodness me, the diet committee sent out a message through galactic space that has just reached the outer colonies (namely Australia). The message said that AM is looking seiously slender and gorgeous.. and she turns heads when she walks down the street.
Pow.. this makes us lesser mortals (like Me) feel like a plump and frumpy old hag.. I better get off my rounded bottom and start walking, plus shut my mouth at appropiate times.
Well done, AM.. best from Melly
Amarantha 08-06-08, 11:37 AM Huzzah, Melly! No frumpy hags in Aussie last I heard, though word has it there's a determined lass down there who is workin' hard at all her goals 'n lookin' 'n feelin' great!
Which, at the end o' the day, is all we can say 'bout Hago, too! She's soldierin' on 'n stayin' one step 'way from the Calorie Police, who are on the prowl in the Deep Dark Diet Dilemmatic Woods these days as word be on the forest street that Calorie Jail is SCARY (they have no Dee's Mighty Muffins there 'n everyone gets oatmeal for breakfast, fish 'n broc for lunch, tofu 'n spinach fer dinner, 'n no snacks, so Hago doesn't want to go there EVER)!
Workin' tonight in Black Lagoon, must have an active day first, no slackin' :whip:
Jumpsoda 08-06-08, 02:32 PM You and Crazy are just kickin it with the day in, day out routine.
millie47 08-06-08, 10:44 PM Hi Am,

Amarantha 08-07-08, 09:03 AM Thanks to Jump 'n Millie fer the visits.
Yea, Jump, consistency is key, methinks! Hey, sooner or later, it HAS to pay off in one way or another!!!
Lol, Millie, mayhap Hago WILL put up a site for haghappenings.com someday, if she getteth bored or if the name is available!
'N on that front, somebody just picked up the newest print edition o' that SCARY NIGHTLY PUBLICATION 'N IT CONTAINED HAGO'S WEDNESDAY REPORT TO THE HALLOWEEN DIET 'N FITNESS LOVIN' CHALLENGE-LOVIN' PUBLIC, WHICH INCLUDED: 1435 calories & no action by the Calorie Police in Diet Amaranthaland (the Calorie Police have taken up knitting to pass the time) :check: ; X=two workouts, including 60 min walk (a.m.), 30 min walk (p.m.) and 30 min jog/walk (late p.m. during meeting executive session, went outside 'n jog/walked all over the safe area rather than just sit 'n feel the tension in the room 'n contemplate food (didn't really sweat enough for it to be a problem, just a gentle jog/walk to release stress 'n burn a few cals 'n contemplate the August Autumn Am is enjoyin') :check: ; rest from yoga but should probably have done some (have a ways to go before adherence is up to snuff on this front but aiming for daily practice as much as possible, listening to body though 'n the hiatus was good); lifestyle active :check: ; eating low glycemic :check: ; attitude (was a Black Lagoon Day but did not overeat or eat BAD food) :check: !!! Amarantha 08-08-08, 01:02 PM Huzzah to Millie 'n Aria, 'n thanks be fer their visits to Hago's Scary Little Hut!! The plumbin' here IS really scary but when the plumber leaves, Hago will be more settled in her mind 'n off to the Black Lagoon (depending on the length o' the plumbing work, he went to get parts and has been gone a half hour)!
Amarantha 08-08-08, 01:31 PM Keep it a secret, Hago 'n the Diet Maidens ALL did fantastic yesterday! :secret:
Calories 1595 :check: ; 45 min walk & 30 min weights :check: ; good lifestyle :check: ; low Gi eating :check: ; in the non obsessive category, a decision was made by the Anti Obsession Committee to only do yoga from now on when the Hago Yogini feels like it 'n not make it seem like a daily chore, so no yoga fer the nonce :check: Film at 11!

Have a great weekend!
Amarantha 08-08-08, 10:08 PM Millie, there is no right or wrong way to do yoga, although people will tell that there is. There's also a version of yoga moves called "chair yoga" that you can just do sitting in a chair.

millie47 08-08-08, 11:56 PM Hi Am,
Oh I guess I need to get a yoga DVD, I don't know if I have ever seen it done. So will have to check into that also along with my walking poles.
hope you had a good day at the black Lagoon, and also keep the calorie police away! I know being at work can be harder to eat right. I know you can tho!
Hope you have a great Saturday!
.....Hugs, Millie
Amarantha 08-09-08, 11:43 AM Ye know, Millie, my brain was not workin' right when I responded that there is no wrong way to do yoga. What I meant was that in hatha yoga (the most common form) if one is moving slowly and carefully, at their own pace and under a medical ok to do it and with supervision if they are not familiar with yoga, then they are doing it right even though they may have to modify the asanas (poses). In truth, though, yoga seems more simple than it is and it is a powerful form of exercise and though it is rare, people have suffered injuries, illness or death doing it, although the chair yoga, breathing exercises and some other poses are great for anyone and safe enough.
So I was wrong to say that there's no way to do it wrong, but yoga IS very personal and really doing yoga has more to do with connecting to one's own authentic self through relaxing physical poses (asanas). It's great stuff but my recommendation would be to ask your medical team for a referral to a teacher or a class so you'd know you are safe.
This even happened to me once, I became very ill following a yoga class and I to this day believe that I somehow pressed the wrong way on an artery or something. And I have done yoga a long time but with the little yoga "game" I bought, I am again being very careful and specific with my form.
Wow, more than ye wanted to know.
Well, re Hago, she's still in bed. She's getting a little TOO relaxed these glorious AUGUST AUTUMN days but the "Get Up 'n Get Movin' Ghostly Goblin Squad" seems to be convergin' on the Halloween Hut even as we type.
WAZOOOO!

Now comes the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale o' Dietary Justice 'n once again, the MIGHTY GOLDEN SCALE hath vouchsafed to Hago the Halloween Hut 'n the Mighty Diet Friends in her head a NICE ROUND NUMBER!!!
Wazoooo! In fact, t'is the same NICE ROUND NUMBER that turned up on the Wheel o' Dietary Fortune last week 'n Hago, Diet Am 'n all the Diet Maidens involved be mightily tickled pink with this magickal event as if truth be told, we did NOT do as well with the eats 'n exercise this week as last, so this is AN AWFUL WARNIN' to kick it into gear for a good maintain o' this nice number until the end o' August! (We did think we'd gain some back but it did not happen so indeed, this is a sign from the Halloween Diet Challenge ghostly :ghost: goblins, witchiepoos 'n all manner o' diet sprites, fairies 'n whatnots that THIS IS THE AUTUMN WHEN WE'LL REACH OUR GOAL)!!!
Cheerful us, happy us, good fer us!
Fortuna Morgana! It is manifest!
The seed comes to fruitition 'n the tree beareth fruit. Autumn bringeth the harvest Halloween celebration. :harvest:
aria2000 08-10-08, 02:53 PM WOW Am, CONGRATULATIONS! This was a lot of work, I am sure! :hop:
Amarantha 08-10-08, 04:03 PM  Thanks, Aria. It was but I still felt I was off somehow the whole week, hopefully, this week the streak (aka Streak the Weak) will hold. I had to come home early from my shopping trip as I don't feel well, will go out again later after a nap. See ya!
WOW Am, CONGRATULATIONS! This was a lot of work, I am sure! :hop:
millie47 08-10-08, 06:59 PM Hi Am,
Well Congrats on staying the same! You did better than you thought, I know that was a relief. You just a maze me how good you do!
Hope your nap made you feel better, sure hope you are not coming down with something!
Have a great Monday!....Hugs, Millie
Amarantha 08-10-08, 08:22 PM Yea, t'was indeed a relief, Millie! :) I do feel better, thanks, got up and went to the store and got supplies for the Dreaded Deadline Day from the Black Lagoon! Wazoooo! Got some lentil soup for some reason. I hope it is good!
Amarantha 08-10-08, 10:55 PM Today was a kind o' mini day off 'n Hago 'n all the Diet Maids went mad 'n frolicked 'round the hut kitchen eatin' 'n doin' no yoga nor a planned extra weight session. Never ate the lentil soup, just a ton of 2 percent milk (sorry to inform Polite Nutritional Society but that's what Hago drinks 'n believes is best fer herownself) and Hago's Homemade Energy bars (pb, oatmeal, whey powder, frozen) and some Havarti cheese, etc., so that when they came to tally up their calorie count for this fun eatin' orgy, t'was 2540, but Hago said they had needed some extra cals as they were draggin' 'round all sad 'n lonely fer two days 'n needed to perk up for work tomorrow as let's face it the brain would not function well to write on deadline if the droop continued, so they chalked it up to the bodybuildin' thing called HIGH DAY 'n moved on! Film at 11. They did walk 60 minutes earlier in the day. :check: That's all we've got to say! Yay!
Sounds like you had a riot of a time hiding out from the calorie police.. partaking of all things nice. What I want to know AM.. is why I wasn't invited to this feast.. you know I do like a social gathering.
You were such a clever little devil to fly under the radar of the Diet Committee too..
Cheers, from Melly
Amarantha 08-11-08, 01:12 PM  Trust me, there won't be another such feast for awhile, Melly, 'cause one o' the goblins is thought to have snitched to the Calorie Police who are out in huge numbers in the forest this mornin' lookin' fer backsliders! However, if such an illicit gatherin' should occur again this season, we'll be sure to see that ye get an invite!

Amarantha 08-11-08, 01:16 PM Plan for today: Hago is off workin' in the nonvirtual Black Lagoon 'n says she can't be bothered with things like plans, so this message is from Halloween Diet Challenge Planning Committee Clerk, lettin' all diet challenge participants (that would be Hago, Am, Am 'n Am, plus assorted fairie folke, goblins, ghostlies, witchiepoos 'n some critters with punkin heads whose ethnicity is unknown to us) know the plan fer the day and it is "DIET 'N FITNESS DAY PERFECTION!"
No more information, for information, go to the Information Bureau in the next diet forest. Thanks fer your cooperation. Have a nice day.
millie47 08-11-08, 07:14 PM Hi Am,
Hope you had a good day at the black lagoon! I know how much you love it there, lol.
Well I see you did not invite me either to your feast, but I know that you thought I had enough feast for this week, after those biscuit I had, WOOOWW that was enough to last a while.
I am sure you are right back to were you want to be.
I love milk also but it sure does not like me. I also love lentil soup, but I do add some cooked rice to my to help as a filler. Keep rolling my friend!
Have a great Tuesday....Hugs, Millie
Amarantha 08-12-08, 01:36 AM Well, Millie, the day did NOT go so well in the Black Lagoon 'n Hago 'n all her ghoul pals simply gave up on countin' calories! Not to worry, though, the Calorie Police 'round here are kind of lame 'n not likely to catch on to any illicit doin's for awhile. Tomorrow, back on track. Sorry forgot to invite ye to the feast today also, although again it was healthy stuff, just another high day.
Hago DID walk one hour, jogged 30 mins and jog/walked 30 mins. :check:
Not a bad day but the clock's tickin' on how long the new weight decade will stick 'round with calories so high ... but will be fine for awhile. It's actually good to eat more sometimes and Am feels quite well where she hasn't for a few days.
Amarantha 08-12-08, 11:50 AM Hago's Tuesday Song, tra la!
'BACK ON TRACK TODAY, HOORAY; BACK ON TRACK TODAY, HOORAY; HEIGH HO THE MERRIE-O, WE'RE BACK ON TRACK TODAY, HOORAY!!!'
:cheer2:  :peace: :harvest: :cheer:
millie47 08-12-08, 07:57 PM Hi Am,
Well that is great that you are back on track, so :cheer2::koala:on!!!
That is how we will get to our goal by getting right back on track, anyway sounds like you were smart enough to eat healthy stuff! That will help keep the calorie police away! We sure don't want to see them!
I think I would die if I jogged for 30 minutes, little alone walk also. Keep rolling!!!!Maybe I should say jumping for you 8-|!
Hope you have a great Wednesday!
I can smell my chicken so it must be almost done, mmmm.
....Hugs, Millie
JoThrive 08-12-08, 09:22 PM My dear friend, congratulations on getting right back on track! You have such a consistent pattern. Good for you.
Is it hot these days where you live? It is hot here in Wyoming.
Amarantha 08-12-08, 09:58 PM Thank ye fer the kind words 'n the visit, JoJo! Yea, Am trieth to be consistent but the last two days have been difficult, yet we soldier on, always, right? :cheer2:
It is hot here but not as hot as it usually is in August, so that's a blessing, dependin' if one liketh heat or not. Some years, I do, and some years it interferes (rhymes). This year is of the latter variety so I'm doin' well. A little off right now and nappin' plus playin' DS Lite games ... love that thing!
I'd love to be in Wyoming right now, beside a cool stream! Thanks, friend, for comin' by! Huzzah! Ye are doin' great 'n I just love the way ye soldier on to new goals all the time and ye seem to have fun in the process!

Amarantha 08-12-08, 10:10 PM Millie, never fear, those Calorie Police really ARE kind o' lame. They are over in the next Diet Village on the track o' a guy who eats lots of Brussels sprouts, spinach 'n tomatoes. Now I ASK ye, what kind o' crime can it be to eat Brussels sprouts, spinach 'n tomatoes when in the meantime there are all SORTS o' calorie felons in the neighborhood buyin' illicit OVERLORD BARS in the street.
Now, Millie, if ye dinna know what an OVERLORD BAR is, let me tell ye that is Am's name for a candy bar called Overload, which last year they took off the shelves here but the other day Am saw some were back in the stores.
Now, the Overload bar consists (I kid ye not, I could not make this up) o' three heavenly peanut butter cups (not Reese's, better) sittin' side by side 'n topped with a variety of cookies, M&Ms and other candy and stuff. They have 390 calories per package and OF COURSE Am eats the whole package ... or did eat when she was trystin' with that OVERLORD ... a few years ago Am would buy these on the way to a remote office where she worked in the mountains once a week and buy one on the way home. This was a habit and did not add to the speed o' Am's weight loss.
So no OVERLORDS in this forest, if Hago so much as HEARS 'bout their return she will be VERY angry 'n will probably cast a spell :whip: on any malefactor silly enough to say that she'd even THOUGHT o' the OVERLORD in recent months. X-(
Just so's ye know. Be afraid, be very afraid!
As said, back on track: 1490 cals :check: , 30 min walk :check: , skipped weights as somehow the bod just feels they aren't a good idea right now, may have a little bug! Film at 11.

patricians2001 08-13-08, 12:59 AM Autumn? What are you wishing for? Some of us want to enjoy what little summer we get! ;)
Yeah but some of us are Canadian and the rest of the world may not relate to how attached we are to our fleeting summer. But Am is not the only one looking forward to Ocotober. Hallwe'een candy is already out in the stores here!.:(
Am... you actually lost more than half of yourself!!! I just can't imagine how incredible that must feel. Way to go!!
What name did you used to post under?
May I be so bold as to further inquire as to how you make the breakfast bars?
Amarantha 08-13-08, 05:51 AM  Patricians, we here are attached to our fleetin' fall and winter seasons, so most o' us would be happy to send ye the months and months o' remainin' heat from here. Thanks fer the visit, yea, we have Halloween candy in the store also, Am is ignorin' it 'n Hago has banned it from the Halloween Hut!
At Diettalk I believe I have been Athletea (or it might have been Atheletea ... can't remember how I spelled it, plus ESAthletea (or the other spelling, the ES stood for "Excellent Streaker").
Yeah but some of us are Canadian and the rest of the world may not relate to how attached we are to our fleeting summer. But Am is not the only one looking forward to Ocotober. Hallwe'een candy is already out in the stores here!.:(

Amarantha 08-13-08, 05:57 AM Diet Maiden Am is wanderin' 'round the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Diet Forest at 1 a.m. 'cause she can't sleep (t'is hot in the house) so she decided to go outside on the porch and sit with dog 'n then she decided to do a LIGHT weight workout o' 15 min duration to relax and make up for ignorin' the poor muscles yesterday, so the Tuesday weight workout is a :check: anyhow! A pre-breakfast snackiepoo was served by Hago in the Hut at 2-ish, bein' two scoops o' whey powder 'n a few cherries blended with water.
Hago is really disappointed with the blender thingie she bought yesterday as it doesn't do "ice" ... but she'll keep and use for light smoothies and it seems to handle frozen fruit and cold water well.
Transmission ends, Hago stares into Crystal Ball in air-conditioned autumn environment 'n contemplates exptected time dog will agree to come back inside!
Amarantha 08-13-08, 11:42 AM :keys:WELL, all the little GOAL GHOULS 'n GOOD EATIN' GOBLINS got up early this frosty harvest morn :harvest: in AMARANTHA'S AUTUMN 'n surrounded the HUT o' Hago the Halloween Hut, who facilitateth Hago's Halloween Diet 'n Fitness Challenge wherein for two days this week all the participants 'n Hago have been a wee bit off course with a flu-like world schmertzy whateverabug 'n eatin' too many cals!!! That was reversed with a nice 1490 save yesterday 'n the goal be to do 'er again! Therefore the GGs 'n the GEG have decided they'd love to have a wee challenge o' their own 'n they are solicitin' Hago 'n Diet Maiden Am (Hago's Diet Acolyte 'n Partner in Diet Crimes) to join in the fun!
What fun? T'is a REST O' THE WEEK CHALLENGE TO EAT A STREAK AT 1500 OR BELOW!!! The idea for this came when someone asked Amarantha what her previous user name on DT was and one was ESAthletea, meaning Excellent Streaker Athletea, as Am was doin' lots o' "streaks" in those days, now that Am thinketh on it and these "streaks" were fun.
SO the GGs 'n the GEGs asked Hago 'n Am to join in 'n they agreed 'n Hago, bein' the most responsible o' the group and therefore in charge of EVERYTHING in Halloween Land asked that all members o' the STREAK N' EAT COMMITTEE turn over the keys to their larders, all complied 'n Hago will decide who eats what 'n when in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Forest fer the nonce! :keys:
Successful Suzie Goal Ghoul will be the recordin' secretary for the STREAK 'n Hago made up a rule that ANYONE who signs up for the challenge MUST finish it or be banished from the forest 'n kicked out o' the Halloween Challenge o' Hago the Diet Hut!
Sounds VERY SCARY but Hago gets like that durin' the AUTUMN CHALLENGE X-(
Suzie Goal Ghoul came up with the following list for the challenge, retroactive to yesterday, 'n it will be posted in Diet Town Square for all to admire 'n any backsliders to be gossiped 'bout 'n scorned by the Diet Villagers :ghug:
"Well, we are not foolin' 'round here, we have a GOAL to meet this AUTUMN," cackled the Hag when asked if this were not mayhap a rather severe challenge. "If the diet folke 'n folkettes 'round here in the forest are not wantin' to join in our challenge, let them not join! Otherwise, those be the rules, as intoned by me this morn', retroactive to Tuesday! So, all Diet Maidens, folkes 'n folkettes, goblins, ghostlies, witchipoos 'n other scary folk named Amarantha better behave. That's all I have to cackle, take away that microphone and give me the keys to your larder or be off w'ye or I'll cast a spell on ye 'n turn ye into a beautiful diet maiden. :whip: Oh, and have a nice day."
Suzie's Streak List

Jumpsoda 08-13-08, 09:45 PM From 247 all the way down to 126, really blown away. To get by the 200 pound mark then the 175 mark, the 150 mark all the way down to 126...that is killer determination.
Amarantha 08-13-08, 10:43 PM Thanks, Jump! I really appreciate reading this post right now as ye are right, she saith modestly, but many a diet man 'n maid hath done this thing, thusly provin' it can be done 'n no one should think otherwise.
The diet management game be not fer wimps but t'is quite satisfyin' overall!
Now if one could just win the lottery ...
From 247 all the way down to 126, really blown away. To get by the 200 pound mark then the 175 mark, the 150 mark all the way down to 126...that is killer determination.
Amarantha 08-13-08, 11:01 PM Ah, the last o' the two days off 'n Hago 'n the Diet Maidens, plus assorted witchiepoos 'n the like (etc.) hath been enjoyin' Suzie the Goal Ghoul's Little 1500 or Less to Get Back on Track Streak, but it BETTER be healthy food, saith Hago. :keys:
'N this be good 'cause recently was Am's meetin' she sometimes has with the nutritionist who puts up with Am's weird thoughts on food (like some days only wantin' to consume milk, milk 'n nothin' but milk) ... and Am knoweth her body best 'n instinctively believes that her choices, if we do not factor in unfortunate relationships with that dratted Overlord (candy bar previously discussed in this tome), are ok dokey but she's done well today 'n eaten kind o' South Beach-ish 'n the calories have been good and WHEN WE GO OUT IN THE FIELD TOMORROW FOR WORK, WE WILL NOT LET THE OL' CORTISOL DEMON :lil: INTO OUR BODY AND WE WILL NOT BREAK OUR STREAK! X-( !!!
Hago might be upset if we did that 'n turn us into a toad :turkeytalk: ... or a turkey since there isn't a toad smilie.
Hago has been doin' a lot o' plannin' about this autumn challenge because plannin' 'n focus are the only things that are goin' to get Am (and Hago) to the weight and fitness place they want to be.
At any rate, re exercise, all Hago Challengers did 90 min walk and 15 min weights :check: ... Suzie has logged the calories in her Streak List below. It has been amended as Am did not know what day it was yesterday. The streak started on Tuesday.
Am has already claimed her reward for finishing Suzie's Streak, a new MP3 player for her workouts and she spent the day figuring out how to use it as it is not a simple one such as we had here in the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Forest!
Suzie's Streak List

millie47 08-13-08, 11:31 PM Hi Am,
Wow you have done really great with the calories the last few days!!! Congrats to you!!! You go Girl! You will not let anything stop that streak for a while, you set your mind and you go for it.
Hope you got a little sleep last night. I can just see you at 1 or 2 am doing weights outside waiting for the pooh to get done. You are one smart lady and will not let anything stop you! We will have to have a party when you hit that goal :)!
Hope your week at the black lagoon goes good for you! The days will fly by for you!
Have a GREAT Wednesday!!!!...Hugs, Millie
Good morning, Hago, Suzie and Am, and any other denizens of the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Forest! Best wishes to all and sundry!
JoThrive 08-14-08, 10:49 PM Greetings to all the denizons of the Deep Dark Dilemmatic Forest! Hope your day has been a happy one.
Amarantha 08-15-08, 12:56 AM Huzzah to Eljay 'n JoJo! Thanks fer the kind visits 'n hope all be well with ye also.
T'was a busy day in the Nonvirtual Black Lagoon 'n Suzie the Goal Ghoul hath only time 'n energy to update her list, hence:
Suzie's Streak List
Tuesday: 1490
Wednesday: 1440
Thursday: 1460
Friday: TBD
Saturday: TBD
What a great streak! Keep it up, Suzie!
Amarantha 08-15-08, 10:45 AM Suzie is enjoyin' her power trip 'n has been lobbyin' challenge headquarters to take this streak into another week! Suzie is VERY bossy 'n likes to practice magickal spells like Hago :whip: 'gainst any Diet Maidens like Am who sign up for streaks but might be a'think' o' jumpin' ship :cruise: !!!! X-(
What a great streak! Keep it up, Suzie!
Amarantha 08-15-08, 10:49 AM At a mornin' meetin' o' the elite Hago the Halloween Hut Diet 'n Fitness Challenge Special Squad, Hago commended Suzie the Ghoul Goal fer her efforts in runnin' a tight streak ship :cruise: for all to enjoy :help:.
It was brought that exercise was not logged into Challenge Central's Exercise Log yesterday but in fact, all the Diet Maidens 'n Hago were verra busy 'n out o' sorts but all did do a 30-minute walk :check: ... the Exercise Committee is meetin' today to possibly redo the exercise plan for awhile.
Film at 11, that's all she wrote!
Amarantha 08-15-08, 12:05 PM Wazoooo! T'is only 82 out there in AUTUMN LAND (really, t'is only 82 in Am's nonvirtual homeland) 'n Hago, Suzie 'n all the ghastly streakers were out joggin' with Jimmy Buffet in the MP3 'n they are goin' back out for more (jogwalking, really).
They came in fer a second to the hut for a short meetin' as it has been noticed amongst the group that this morn, a SEA CHANGE has occurred in their feelin's 'n energy levels. This MAY be related to it bein' in double digits out there as opposed to our usual triples, but hey, we have to say: "We are movin' forward to our goal, which this week is only maintenance, despite some real problems 'n setbacks this week!"
Suzie the Goal Ghoul wants to have a new streak with new rules but that would start Sunday if she decideth to stay with Hago's organization as CESG (Chief Executive Streak Ghoul).
Going out to burn some more calories so the Calorie Police won't be knockin' at the hut askin' about overages earlier in the week! Wazoooo!
Who's in charge, here - Suzie, Am, or Hago? I'm thinking maybe if Suzie's on a power trip a day of . . . 1750 calories? planned for ahead of time. . . may keep the daemons of guilt in the deepest pits where they belong. But hey, what do I know? I just spent 60 days of 2000+ and those daemons are swarming over me like a bad tide. The only thing that is holding my head above the evil water is I'm still down 4 pounds from January. . . It is the diet maidens who have dropped the 100 +.
Amarantha 08-15-08, 08:14 PM They are all in charge at one time or another, Eljay. And Suzie's always on a power trip.
But in all seriousness as to "guilt," Diet Maidens do not engage in that in regard to food, although Hago gets mad when people overeat, but that's not guilt.
The concept of guilt is inappropriate in connection with calories. A calorie is just a simple energy measurement. It is represented by a number and that number generates data that is helpful in weight management.
But it is a VERY helpful set of data, calories in, calories out.
Worth paying attention to on a daily basis.
Am does not believe in specifyin' a date for a high day, those should, in her world, happen spontaneously when the body or mind or situation demands it and when extra calories can be helpful in different ways.
In that way, Am does not agree with strict Body for Life type dieters (have been there, done that) who believe in a free day and plan it ahead of time. That doesn't work for Am, although it does for some.
There are such a variety of things that work differently for different individuals in this weight loss journey. So we all should do what works for us best and when things stop working, correct the course.
Not knowin' what she be ramblin' 'bout, Am thinks she'll take a nappiepoo!

millie47 08-15-08, 08:37 PM Hi Am,
Sorry I missed you yesterday, My son Mario took me to a IMAX movie, the dark night (batman), We had a nice time it took us 1 hour to get there. So it made for a long evening then I was tried when I got home. He keeps me up late, lol.
Wow you sure have done great with those calories! Good for you! I am betting you will sure keep the calorie police away!
Hope you got a nice nap in. Sounds like you have a rough day at the black lagoon yesterday.
Hope you have a great Saturday!...Hugs, Millie
Amarantha 08-16-08, 10:07 AM Huzzah, Millie! Glad ye had a great time with your son and enjoyed the Batman movie. That sounds fun! Thanks for droppin' in and I do plan on havin' a good Saturday after I settle some people and situations down!

Amarantha 08-16-08, 10:09 AM Wazoooo! Hago 'n all the Diet Maidens did a quickie weight workout and walkabout to make up for yesterday's cardio only day :check: 'n all are on their way to the Black Lagoon verra early so's not to see any people 'n then they will take the day off for shoppin' (of course, do they ever do anything else on their days off?).
Amarantha 08-16-08, 10:17 AM Suzie Goal Ghoul here, stayed behind as the Black Lagoon staff doesn't appreciate me 'n the wonderful work I do with my STREAKS :console: , so here is the updated list 'n the excitin' news that a totally NEW streak will be declared in Halloween Diet Forest (or wherever) startin' Sunday as Hago the Halloween Hut, always in charge o' this Halloween challenge, of course, although I am ESSENTIAL to the organization, if I do modestly say so, says the STREAKS are revitalizin' the Diet Maiden Troop :cheer2: 'n Hago hath not had to cast any disciplinary spells turnin' anyone into a toad :whip: for DAYS 'n she gives ME the credit for that, if I do modestly say so!

JoThrive 08-16-08, 11:45 AM Focus...Determination...FOCUS...DETERMINATION...Focus...Determination
It is so interesting to see what works for some and what works for others. I think the planned day of pig out portions (see, I can use alliteration, too!) is where I need to be now, when I need more discipline. Later on, when I'm within 10 pounds of goal, maybe I'll need to be more flexible. Meanwhile, I'll sit at the feet of Hago, Suzie, Am, and other assorted diet maidens to pick up their wisdom!
Amarantha 08-16-08, 06:33 PM Whatever works best for ye is what ye should do, Eljay! Have a good weekend!

Amarantha 08-16-08, 06:37 PM A good mantra, JoJo!!! Consider the word, "FOOD," that also means "FOCUS, OUR OBJECTIVE, DETERMINATION," methinks.
At any rate, my spinach/chicken pattie and sweet potato fry late afternoon snack beckoneth! Huzzah! Thanks for comin' by, friend!
