View Full Version : tight jeans therapy

My jeans have gotten too big so I finally bought some more -- same brand same style just one size smaller. And they were too tight! I couldn't even zip them when I bought them. However that was two weeks ago...it's Friday and I always wear jeans on Fridays... so I thought I'd try them on this morning. I got them on and zipped ok but damn are they tight!! (Hubby likes them, hehe) Anyway, I decided I could get away with them if I wore a long shirt. Let me just tell you, tight jeans once in awhile can be great motivation! I promise you I will be drinking my water and eating salad for lunch today! Sheesh!

JulieK Congrats on getting in those new jeans..BUT let me add that all jeans are not the same..even when they are the same brand same style I used to work inspecting Lee brand jeans and believe me there can be a big difference from one batch or seamstress to another so ya can't go by that all the time..after i read your post I went and squeezed into my next smaller size jeans and had to lay on the bed to button them..hehee I must admit I am a loose jeans person I like nothing tight on my big tummy and these are killing me and actually feel tighter than the last time I TRIEd to put them on to see how close I was to fitting...ohh well someday soon they will fit again..

One more thing not only is tight jean therapy great loose jean therapy is too go pull out that biggest size and float around in those boys a while and you can really see how much progress there has been when ya feel like you are getting NO WHERE..--I gotta go get outta these jeans they are killing me..LMAO

Hehehe... you girls are a trip!

I like both ideas... the tight jeans can definitely give you some inspiration, but for anyone who has a bad back, tight jeans can do more harm than good if you wear them too long! LOL

I am enjoying, however, the current baggy jeans that are my biggest but starting to sag and now really should have a belt worn with them! :)

And say, Pamela... (since you have inspected jeans) ~ why do black denim jeans always seem to run smaller than blue denim? :) I've always been curious.

Hugs,
Roxie

Roxiebear is right.... both ideas are good ones. And I am curious about the black denim vs. blue denim, too. It's always been like that and it doesn't make any sense! LOL.... okay Pamela.. inquiring minds want to know.

I like the tight jeans thing. I squeezed into my 14's today cause they were the only ones available and I had to go out to the mall. I was just sitting here thinking about going to take them off now cause they are so uncomfortable, but after reading this I think I will suffer in them a little longer. I think they may be the reason I haven't cheated today. Thanks Julie

I like both ideas too. Was just thinking that I need to go shopping this weekend for some smaller stuff to wear...hmmmm. I also noticed that if you go with the tall jeans that they are a bit looser too...why is that do you suppose?

I can never find jeans in my size...

And when I do find a pair that is "my size", it's either too tight or too baggy. Ah well.

I know just what you mean! I'm in loose 16's now and the other day just for fun I put on my 12. I got them over my butt! I wore them too, but couldn't breath all day. Talk about motivation.

PS I moved on to some other tight clothes that were stuck in the back of my closet...hubby is thrilled hahaha! :D
I'm wearing stuff I haven't been able to wear in three years, and some of it isn't even tight!

Good work, Julie! You must be so happy! Maybe we should all have a clothes swap! As we outgrow our old clothes we can pass them along to someone else since we'll only be in them a month til we get to the next size!!!

JulieK, I think that fitting into clothes is one of the best motivations for me to lose weight! I have a size 16 pair of Gap jeans that I am trying to get into, but it'll probably be a month or two before that! But when I did buy pants the other day, I, too, took the smaller size and am now wearing a pair of tight size 16 black pants! Lol!
=)

Oh, btw, I think black jeans are tighter than blue ones because the dye used makes the jeans stiffer...that's why black ones loosen up significantly after a month or two of washing them!

Wearing those tight jeans DOES keep one from overeating, doesn't it? That's why I really try to avoid sweatpants, or real loose pants, its too easy to overeat while wearing them, they expand too much. BTW, I teach fitness, & I always tell the participants to imagine they are laying on the bed trying to zip up their tightest jeans when doing abdominal exercises, really gets em to pull those abs in. Peace, Stacy

Stacy, that's a good observation! There are times when I felt so good in my stretch pants that it completely erased any motivation I've had. THANKFULLY, they are going out of style now and I can't hide much longer!

So now I know why I have gained all these pounds.... :)

When I was under 185 pounds (that was only two years ago) I always used to wear really tight jeans but then I started to wear these stretches and that is when my weight started to go up and up and... well... you all know...

At the moment I cannot get into those old jeans of mine but I hanger one really old and really small pair (I got it when I was something like 12 years old but I was able to get them on three years ago...) in the wall so that I can watch my jeans and see what my goal is. Maybe I will not be able to wear that pair ever again but it will keep me going towards my goal.

Ugh... I don't know if it is a blessing or a curse that someone posted to this string and knocked it back to the top of the list... cause it's painful to see it now because after the holiday binging I can't get into those tight jeans I was so proud of.... oh well, I thought I'd confess that at least, but hopefully I will be back in there soon.

Julie, I feel the same as you, the holidays did me in! But I am doing well again, and plan to keep it that way. You can do it! We just have to stay focused on our goals. I can't wait to be able to put my 14's on again and those are my biggest jeans! I am actually (long-term goal)looking forward to size 8's. I WILL make this happen!

Love the thread topic line - planning on a little jeans therapy myself. I have two perfectly good pairs of jeans (too small) in my drawers and am down to one pair that fits - I refuse to buy new ones - I'm just going to have to shrink into the old ones! ;)

PS Thanks for solving the black Jean mystery that has always bothered me.

Hey Kimberly I never knew about the hanger trick to zip up tight jeans. I just always ended up with a mark on my index finger for what seemed like days.......lol. Well I will try the hanger but hope I will not have to for too long. This is the year for me. Watch out world!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Susan

I have a pair of size 7 jeans i have kept to motivate me. As I try to get them over my thighs and butt, i think to myself,"I USED to actually wear these!" So I know its not impossible to loose the weight and be skinny again.

Stupid jean sizes! Before i started my diet, i bought a pair of size 16 jeans at old navy, then the diet began and they got baggier and baggier, so i thought I'd be bold and try on some 14's, i couldnt zip them! Grrrr... they are either too big or small. HOWEVER, at American Eagle, i used to wear 14, now im down to 12's. Ziiiip Ahh the sweet sound of success. I still have a big butt though, and damn proud, it runs in the family.

I actually had a friend that had to have 2 sutures in her finger because she cut it on the little point on the zipper while trying to zip them up. We still laugh about that one. :)

Tight Jeans on a Man in front of me some of you say? OHHHHH YEAHHHH lol :)I use to go line dancing and let me tell you that be the place to see NICE homemade tight jeans :)
I am a Grandma of three and it's all I can not to whistle sometimes lol hmmmm maybe I should - would'nt that shock the man when they turned it and saw it was a "grandma" lol :)
Anyways more about tight jeans - nope I can't join you all here on this one.
They cut me and I feel like I can't breath and then when I finally get them off I have these deep marks all over my legs from where they were cutting me - so I guess that is TOO tight :)
MANY ( and more manys ) years ago when I was in college I did a what I called a tight jean diet.
I needed to lose about 20 lbs ( oh those WERE the days ) and I jsut could'nt lose teh weight.
I BURNT all my jeans ( thats all I wore at the time ) in a huge bomb fire! I wore a pair of sweat pants -sweats are now my best friend. http://www.diettalk.com/uub//frown.gif
Went to the store and bought about 4 pair of new jeans all way too small for me - well long story short in no time at all I could wear my new jeans - guess it was because I had nothing else to wear.
Of course those were the young/dum days of my youth :)
This subject just brought back that memory lol

I have jeans in every size from 8 to 18. How awful! If I'd not given in and bought bigger ones I might still be in the 8s. OR I'd be walking around naked - even more awful!

Anybody have any FAVORITE brand / style of jeans? I love PEPE jeans - they are just cut so well they look really sexy. Unless you are trying to wedge a gigantic donut belly into them, of course. LOL!

I am the opposite. I hate wearing tight jeans at any size. Especially being fat. To me wearing tight jeans now is like a thousand little voices telling me repeatedly, your fat, your fat, your fat. It really drives me nuts. I actually do better dietwise in loose pants. In tight ones I just get depressed and am more likely to eat something to comfort myself. Just my 2 cents.

Wow: I just found new motivation here!

I was working in vocational classes with special-ed students 7 years ago when I was injured and had to give up my job. I wore really nice Gap jeans to work every day. Over the years, the weight moved up and the Gap jeans went further and further back into the closet.

I just went and pulled them out. Eleven pair of size 12-Tall. I WILL WEAR THOSE JEANS AGAIN!

Carmine, I totally agree! I feel so much better about myself when I actually have clothes on that fit, no matter what size they are! LOL When I put on the tight ones it just reminds me of how much I have to loose, or it reminds me of how awesome I felt when I actually fit into them, and that depresses me! I have to admit that I do love getting out the old jeans, putting them on, and actually having them fit, lol, but as far as wearing them all day long when they are too tight - I think I will pass! LOL
