2 years ago I lost 45lbs it took 6 month to lose the first 35 then 6 more to lose the last 10. I felt great no more plus size stores I was wearing an 8 for the first time in my life I am 49 I had already planned on getting " this is what 50 looks like" because I looked great. I work out at a local gym and the people have been great but now I have lost control I am never full I do have a very big appitite. but I had almost gotten used to always feeling hungry. Halloween came and I started eating candy and have been out of control ever since 13lbs up and I am scared I'll go all the way back up I did this 16 years ago I don't want to do this again maybe I need a shrink. But I don't want one. the friends at the gym say oh you still look good but all my clothes are so tight I have to put on a robe or sweats by suppertime just like the old days. HELP!!

BlueBeauty,

Welcome to Diettalk. You will find great support here to get you back on track.

The important thing is that you identified it before gaining back all your weight, and the fact that you even posted here is a wonderful first step!

You'll hear a lot of people talk about drinking their water. If you have a large appetite, it will help you to drink more and more water. I'm finding that on many days, I will drink more than the recommended amount simply because it's better for me than soda or other beverages.

I don't know if you are interested in any particular "plan," but focusing on the food pyramid to start with should get you back on track.

Best of luck to you. Hang in there! You can do it!

Roxie

Hi bluebeauty,
You've done so well - exercising and in losing so much weight. I'm sure that you're scared to death of the weight gain, but here you are, posting about it. I believe that to be a very postive first step in gaining that control back.
What were you eating when you lost the 35 pounds? Write back when you have a chance.
The people here are the best,
Mer

Sounds as though you are eating the right way! The water intake is SO important. We sometimes foreget to do that when it gets cooler out, as it is where I live. But water is the thing that helps me the most!

Welcome to DT as well! Good luck and I know you can do it...!!!

Hi bluebeauty, and welcome to DT! You've made a good first move by coming here and sharing. Sometimes just sharing is enough to get us going on the right track again. Have you ever tried adding a piece of lemmon to your water? For some reason that really curbs my appitite and it's got lots of good side effects too, like disolving any stone build-up's in your system. Good luck to you and keep coming back for plenty of our good support!

Thankyou all for writing yesterday I was in control of my mouth for the first time since halloween. I don't know if it was sharing with cyber mates or just a fluke but I'll take what I can get. I go to a spinning class sat. am and after I am so hungry sometimes I wonder if I should drop the class because of how much I eat after. but my husband is home today so I am better than when I am alone. "closet eater " Thank you again

Way to go bluebeauty! That's how we do it some days...and I know you can do it! Just take it one day at a time and keep on keepin on. Don't give food that kind of power over you...take back the power and enjoy you class :) Good luck!

nyheather, no, I can't use crystal lite because of the aspartame in it...that stuff can be devastating to me! But thanks for the thought :)

I am so glad to hear you are catching yourself now. I did exactly what you did. Lost 70 pounds, then ate chocolate which started a year long binge and I put it ALL back on! Am in the process of reversing that. I think this is an excellent example of the addictive properties of chocolate! Stay far away from it. I know there are other "trigger foods" that will do the same thing. The only suggestion I might add is to maybe increase your protein. Good luck, I'm really pulling for you!
