I went to the doc's the other day because I have got a touch of tonsilitis combined with a cold at the moment,he checked my blood pressure and it was up so I had it checked by the nurse a week and a half later and it was up even more at 135/99 .The nurses first response was "loose weight" I told her I have already lost 63lb and she said try and loose another 14lb.It may very well be I end up on blood pressure tablets.
The really anoying aspect of the whole thing is that all the time I weighed in at 18 to 19 stone my blood pressure was perfectly acceptable at 120/80,the moment I start loosing it raises.I am not going to gain weight just to have an acceptable blood pressure.

Wow, what a strange thing to happen! I seriously doubt your weight loss is causing your high blood pressure.I suspect that there might be something else going on. Why aren't they focusing on that? You might want to talk to another doctor. I would love to hear what they say.

Well I don't know about anybody else Natalie but when I am sick it puts me under a lot of stress and it shows up as hi blood pressure when I go to the doc. Mine is ordinarily below normal, has been all my life, so I don't worry to much. Try it when you're not sick like at a pharmacy where they have free blood pressure readings. Good luck to you and good health.

Weight loss actually does effect your blood pressure. What happens is your body is metabolizing your fat. It's similar to eating a lot of sugar.
The minute I go into the doctors office it tends to put my blood pressure up. I get this really tense feeling in my stomach and I know it will put it up. He has me on blood pressure pills but I refuse to take them because I have a monitor at home which is accurrate to his. (he tried it on me) At home it is perfectly normal and when I take those pills I wanna pass out. When I'm not feeling well my body shows it because my blood pressure will go up.
