View Full Version : what is good for breakfast??? Gotta_keep_tryin 12-27-00, 09:11 AM what can I eat for breakfast that is lowfat and will keep me ok till lunch time??? ------------------ joanne 12-27-00, 09:13 AM Something low in sugar and high in fiber would do such as a bran cereal.. Or high fiber toast..Fiber is a very filling substance. ------------------ bougiej@hotmail.com Massielita 12-27-00, 09:57 AM Cereal! Especially healthy ones, lol, the ones that don't have too much sugar. Try All Bran, Just Right, Komplete or something like that... with low fat milk and a banana? Will keep you away from food til 2pm. :D ------------------ ~Here is to eating right and living longer!~ Massielita gates 12-27-00, 11:28 AM High fibre cereals are a good idea, but you don't have to wait until lunch time before you can have something to eat again. If you have a little snack, like a fruit or a piece of low fat cheese, you may find that you are not starving at lunch time and are less likely to overeat. I have found that it helps to eat a little bit more often during the day. You tend to feel less deprived and reduce the risk of over-eating. ------------------ Corinna 12-27-00, 03:08 PM I like Kashi To Good Friends with a banana and fatfree milk for breakfast. If I have the time, I like a egg beaters omlette with an ounce of cheese and some salsa sauce on it. If you do get hungry before lunch, as Gates said, have a snack! Cheese or fruit are great ideas.. Good luck! I like to add hot sauce...mmmm. I also like to have a fruit or some baby carrots in between. Water with lemon curbs my appetite too. Good luck, whatever you decide :) ------------------ Good thoughts be with you! Today I can do this. ;) slim 01-01-01, 06:20 AM I've never tried the eggbeaters. Are they good--do they taste just like eggs? Can they the prepared/used in all the same ways as beaten eggs? Are they less in calories? Is this an animal product, like eggs, or are they made from something else? http://www.diettalk.com/uub//confused.gif (I should have checked on this before, but just never have.) ------------------ me and my pup "GUIDE me,...Strengthen my resolve to turn off the shouting that says 'Get more!' An alternate is flavored oatmeal. ------------------ Joni Corinna 01-01-01, 01:18 PM You scarmble your eggs with falvoured oatmeal? One scoop of Spiral~tein, 6oz of yogurt, 1/2 cup of o.j.,some ice and a little water. Blend her right up and you have a vitamin packed booster shot for your day! Traci :) Happy New Year! Easy and quick to make too. ------------------ Big Bones 01-01-01, 08:38 PM I have a small bowl of Corn bran and skim milk with half a banana. Then a mid-morning snack. ------------------ Regards, Big Bones (Bev) Bev's Blob Blog (http://www.inhormoney.com/blob/blogger.html) bevisnot@home.com "Minutes at the table don't make you put on weight - it's the seconds." Dj 01-01-01, 10:23 PM Variety is the spice of life and it looks like you got lots of ideas for a good breakfast. But allowing yourself a snack between breakfast and lunch is a great idea and a good habit to get into. It helps you not to start munching early and it helps you not to overeat at lunch. It keeps your blood sugar level on an even keel so your energy stays even, too. (especially if you drink coffee in the morning) Sometimes when people are losing weight they look at snacks like they are "forbidden" or "bad".... actually they have helped me stay on track more than anything. Good luck to you! ------------------ Here's to healthy and happy! Dj kimolata 01-05-01, 01:55 AM Is Frosted Flakes ok?? heh heh ------------------ "To me clown are'nt funny. In fact they're kinda scary. I've wondered where this started, and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus and a clown killed my Dad." -Jack Handey, SNL GenH 01-05-01, 11:23 AM My favorite breakfast is one egg poached in microwave on wheat toast and a 1/2 glass of OJ. I find the secret to staying satisfied till lunch for me is to make sure I have some protein with my breakfast - 1 tbs of light peanut butter on 2 toast or an a little low fat cheese etc.. Nothing wrong with Frosted Flakes. They don't have many more calories than Special K (which, by the way I quit buying when they started putting supermodels on the box....who wants to look at THAT first thing in the morning). I also like oatmeal or grits with a couple of packs of sweet & low added. The flavored grits are as low cal as the un-flavored. ------------------ ~honeybee~ 01-05-01, 01:45 PM Raisin Bran Crunch and a peice of fruit with fat-free milk does it for me. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/anym/infinity.gif ------------------ Katie2001 01-05-01, 11:09 PM I have been told by many people including my Doctor that several small meals a day are better than three full meals. Actually I was told something like 6 small meals are better than 3 full meals. Yet it also depends on what your doing and the person.
