Hello my friends ... long time/no chat. I came across these articles about the daily recommended level of water intake and thought it could be helpful. Perhaps the articles will dispell some 'old-wives-tales'.

I hope this post finds you all well. Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a happy new year as well.

This is very interesting, Brad, thanx for passing it along. The way this 8X8 theory was once explained to me--and made sense--is that the overweight person is used to consuming a certain amount of fluids through their food. Obviously, this would be more than someone else who eats a lesser amount of food. Since dieters reduce the amount of food they ingest, the extra water helps replace the water they have been accustomed to getting through their food intake. Supposedly, this helps the transition from alot of food/liquid to less by supplementing the hydration level. Some of this rings true, but just where ARE the studies on it? I'm glad to see another opinion.

By the way, I'm an Austinite too! If you ever want to write, please do so. My e for DT-ers is discomama7148@yahoo.com
