Here's a question for you - How does your feeling about your body affect your weight loss effort? Do you do better when you are feeling "fat" or feeling good?

Despite my hefty 232 (was 245) I still have pretty good self esteem (most of the time) - and I'm mainly happy with me. I did need a "fat" week to get me going on this journey though. I don't know just curious about how our frame of mind about our bodies affect our weight loss.

Actually I am more motivated when I am doing good on my diet, losing weight and feeling better about myself.. Jeni

I really wish that having a fat day would make me motivated, unfortunately it's just not the case.
I am at my heaviest ever right now, and I know that I have let myself go in a lot of ways. I am not wearing any make-up normally, am staying in my spectacles rather than putting my contact lenses in, and not spending time on my hair to name but a few.
I feel so terrible, fat, tired, unfit, ugly, scruffy, etc, but even that doesn't seem to be giving me the kick up the butt I need to do something.
I don't honestly know what it is going to take, I just hope it comes soon.

No actually "feeling fat" puts me in a rotten anti-social mood and I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I find that exercise raises my self esteem and when I do it every day it gives me more energy, less stress and I rarely get in a "fat feeling mood."

I agree with the other posts. I feel much better and always did much better when I am in a good state of mind. I can't wait for spring to put me in a better state of mind. Hate this cold we have had. Went from Summer and right into Winter.

Take care,
Stacey :-)

I feel good that first successful day I have because then I know it will be many more successful days after that.

I think feeling fat gets me going but feeling good keeps me going...sometimes...LOL! I dunno, right now all I want is to feel "well" again! Then I'm gonna need some serious help :)

I'm like robbie...feeling fat gets me going, feeling good keeps me going. My BIG problem is that I lose 5 pounds and feel THIN and then think that's all I need because I feel so good. Talk about a distorted vision of yourself! How about you, Gen?

Feeling fat makes me feel worthless too, so why should a worthless person worry about what anyone else thinks? BAD way to look at things. So I would have to say that doing well and feeling good about myself keep me pressing forward. A fat day keeps me on the couch.

What motivated me was pain. My self esteem is just fine...I have a great husband and son, a nice little home, a great job, the respect of my co-workers, the love of the children in my story hours and the old people at the nursing home where I play piano on Sundays. But, when I started to feel pain in my knees and ankles that shocked me into action. I count my blessings every day! :) Are things always perfect in my little world? NO!!! But I am not inclined to be depressed for very long...all I have to do is look around, take stock of the good things in my life and move on!

For me it depends on the day, the time, the weather, anything and everything.....

Sometimes I wake up and am so mad at myself for being this big that I jump on the wagon and full steam ahead.. other days I look at myself and say screw this I am going to eat...

But now with a trip looming over my head I am motivated.....

I have to say, for the most part when I feel fat and dumpy, I am inclined to binge and lay around. But if I am doing well, even if I lose 2 lbs I start to feel instantly skinny. Its kind of strange. So good feelings bring more good feelings to me, and bad feelings just bring binges.

I think the fat day gets me going. A day at the mall trying on jeans for hours and hours and not finding anything that I like. Plus, seeing all of the skinny girls there. My husband doesn't really help since he likes me the way I am.
