My wife and I have been working out with weights for a while. I lift and lift yet it seems my arms and chest should be developing more. Is there a certian vitamin or technique I'm missing out on? I do bench, free, and floor. Tips would be greatly appreciated. Steve
Steve, first of all, I would like to say I like your posts very much and wish you would come into chat sometime and visit with us!! One tip I would have about adding muscle after you workout, would be to make sure you are eating enough protein in your diet. Schedule your workout so you can have a protein source within 30 min of ending your workout. Hope this helps! sooz
oops!! sorry, didnt know this was the MEN'S board...hehe..sooz
Hubby and I work out. Check out www.bodyforlife.com/successtories/1999 (http://www.bodyforlife.com/successtories/1999) great success pics. and www.bodyforlife.com/champions.asp (http://www.bodyforlife.com/champions.asp)
The book Body For Life By bill phillips has a weight training technic that works like a champ. www.bodyforlife.com (http://www.bodyforlife.com) is his site. I got the Book from Barns & Noble or you can get it on his site.

One other thing i thought of. When you work out, make sure you are not working the same muscle groups two days in a row. Your muscles need time to recover between time, or they will just break down. For example, if you want to do weights every day, one day do your upper body, then the next your lower..or choose certain muscles to work on mwf and dif ones on tthsat..sooz

Thanks All. I bought some Amino Fuel to drink before my workout too. I'll check out the web sites and the book. Gonna try relieving my muscles too and do the legs one day and arms next, etc... Thanks for all the tips. I've lost all my weight now, I just want to put some back on in muscle. Steve
Another thing i thought about, be sure you are breathing properly while lifting. Exhale on the exertion when you are actually lifting the weight, and inhale on the release.

To grow, theres an article about diet at www.t-mag.com (http://www.t-mag.com) go to previous issues and go down to "Get Big Diet" to add about a pound or two a week (some will be fat, youll need to get that off later...). Train your chest (and any muscle group) once every 5- 7 days, a couple sets of a couples exercises with about 8-12 repetitions to failure... get AT LEAST 8 1/2 hours of sleep a day

Steve,
sorry about replying on the men's board but I thought I would give my two cents. My hubby and I started doing body for life 3 months ago. it is great. I can not use his protein drink myoplex it makes me feel funny not sure why but it does. But I do use twinn protein drink powder with skim milk it is ok it fills me up and I have seen results. i would recommend the body for life book. My husband and I feel it is the best investment we have made in years. ==what they recommends is upper body, cardio day, lower body, Cardio day, upper body, rest day...we are seeing results give it a look at the book store or libray that way you won't feel bad if you don't like the book, you won't lose any money...ok so good luck!!!!Dina
