Well, I hope that I'm not going out on a limb here and looking foolish, but I have to admit that when I start dieting (which is usually when my wife does too) I make myself not try to be too successfull.

The reason I do this is because my wife gets really down on herself if she can't keep up with my weight loss (which would happen easily since guys lose weight easier than girls do).

I'd like to go all out when I diet, but I want to keep my wife positive about her weight loss too. I know that she should just focus on herself, but that's easier said than done.

Anybody else experience this problem? Anybody have any suggestions about what I could do to change this pattern?

I'm a wife with a husband who loses weight faster than her, so here it is from my side of the issue. True, it is upsetting when I try as hard or harder than my hubby and he loses faster. But he pushes me to succeed adn flatters me to where I feel like I am whether I lose a pound that week or not.

I think you should go as gungho as you want. Then she will try and follow your lead. Even if she can't, maybe she will try to workout with you and keep up with you anyway. She may not lose as fast but her overall health will improve as well as her eating habits.

Try not to focus on the "Weight Issue" with the scales, but rather the health side. Comments like, "You look great." or "What a healthy glow you have going on, I wish I had that!" or anytype of flattery will help put shortcomings in the back of her mind and positivity in the front of it.

Hope this helps! Best, Kim :)
