Hello All...
I am new to these boards and was looking for support. I am going to restart my dieting and exercising tomorrow. I am afraid that like all the diets in the past 15 years. I will fail this one too. I am 246 pounds today and do not want to hit 247. I have tried low fat, grape fruit/ citrus diets, I tried starving and body building and am thinking about starting the low carb diets. I already am a lacto ova pesca vegetarian and still seem to hold on to the weight. help.

Hi. Welcome to DT. I'm not a guy on a diet but i do have a hubby that has been successful following my lead. He has no choice. Anyway,, you made a great choice in coming to DT. You will get alot of advice. I would recommend keeping some sort of food journal for a couple weeks. See what you are eating and where the calories are at. Sometimes it can be very enlightening. Also, make sure there are no medical problems causing weight gain. you never know. Also, the most important thing. Failure. That is not going to be you, so lose the word. Failure can only happen when you stop trying to help yourself. You are not failing unless you totally give up. I dont think that is going to happen. There are a ton of diets out there. you willl have to see what works best for you. You should consider it a lifestyle change. Forever. I personally do a low fat, high fiber thing. Basically portion control, water and exercise. Good luck on your journey and keep posting. You will get great advice and thoughts. Take care.

Welcome to dt... You must remain positive when dieting.

Exercise, healthy eating (lowfat and lowering portions) and a good positive additude can get you to your diet goals.

You can do it. *

Welcome, barnacle! There is tons of great support and advice here and that will REALLY help you stay focused. My big thing is stress reduction. I think that without focusing on our stress and ridding ourselves of it, we are sunk! Good luck! Nice to have another guy around!!
